But if the win the World Series this year, they might erect a statue of Dayton Moore. Stay classy Detroit Tigers!
While it may be premature to discuss the prospect of World Series celebrations in San Francisco, Giants fans don't have a great track record of keeping their revelry in check. The aftermath of the team's 2012 victory over the Detroit Tigers included a victory riot that ended with a
So what have we learned so far since the MLB playoffs have started? In the American League Oakland A's- so we have learned that Billy Bean's Moneyball makes for a better Movie than actual Baseball team. Since he took over in 1998 Moneyball equals great results in the 162 game season and nothing but disappointment in the playoffs. Detroit Tigers- The last Three Cy Young Winners and arguably the best and hitters in the game equals getting swept? Well yes, when you have arguably the worst bullpen in playoff's. 2/3rd's of a team is not going to the World Series! Maybe the tigers should have looked for bullpen help at the trade deadline, a lot of good a 3rd Cy Young winner did you! Los Angeles Angels- OK, I already killed the A's on their method now let's go to the opposite end of the spectrum. The Angels thought they could buy themselves a couple World Series Yankees style! But they have come to find out that it's not as easy as it looks. Their is an intangible element that is needed and they don't have it! . ...
The Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals move on to the American League Championship Series with victories over the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim today. What do you think of these two teams and who's going to move on to the World Series?
Congratulations Oreos on winning the AL DS. Nelson Cruz head to two run homerun's winning game one and the other in game three we swept down three nothing against the Detroit Tigers which I believe was the hardest of all teams that the Orioles would have to face. Next is the tenant and then were all then the World Series. God willing the 0RIOLES will be in those games and winning the 2014 World Series.
The Kansas City Royals. Hungry is what they are. As for the Detroit Tigers, seems they still have the bullpen issues that cost them a World Series trip last year.
As you can tell from my cover and profile pics it is one of my favorite times of the year! The Playoffs are underway and soon it will be time for the MLB World Series. Who will win the playoffs and be in the Fall Classic? Who will win it all? What are your thoughts? American League: Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals or Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. National League: Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals or Washington Nationals. Definitely a lot of possibilities. We could have an East Coast series featuring the Orioles and the Nationals. We could have another I-70 series featuring the Royals and the Cardinals or we can have a West Coast series with the Angels and either the cross town rivals Dodgers or the Giants.too many possibilities to calculate...
GIBSON STRIKES OUT 17 IN World SeriES (THC) Today in history OCT 2 1968 St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Bob Gibson strikes out 17 Detroit Tigers in the first game of the World Series, breaking Sandy Koufax’s record for the most strikeouts in a Series game. In 2011, Ellsbury also won his first Rawlings Gold Glove Award, his first Silver Slugger Award, and was the American League MVP runner-up to Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. As of 2008, he was one of only three active non-Hispanic Native American players in Major League Baseball, along with Ky ...

With the trade the Oakland A's made today for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel, they will be favorites to win the American League Championship, and go to the 2014 World Series, it's all in Oakland's hands to make the World Series... They also made this trade to get past the one team that has knocked them out of the Division Series the last two years the Detroit Tigers. AL Central will come down to Detroit & Kansas City, AL East will be Toronto & Baltimore, NL East will be Atlanta & Washington will kill each other, NL Central Milwaukee is a lock to win the Central and NL West will come down to the Giants & Dodgers.
Doing a little surfing on YouTube can be rewarding sometimes. For example, when searching for valuable videos to embed in Jeff Seidel's column on the 1984 Detroit Tigers, we came across this gem: The entire television broadcast of Game 5 of the 1984 World Series.
Chilled at my work place the "Oasis" all day waiting for my red hot "Toronto Blue Jays" to beat the "Detroit Tigers." Was a close game right up until the last pitch. Really think we are "World Series" contenders. Going home happy now. Had an "Angus burger meal" and going to take a 20 minuet walk back home with shorts and sandals in the cold drizzle.
Go Tigers! I'm from Venezuela. But I am a fan of Detroit Tigers for 30 years, when only Miguel Cabrera was a newborn baby, when they won the World Series in 1984 against San Diego Padres led by Sparky Anderson with Alan Trammel, Lou Whitaker, Kirk Gibson, Jack "The Cat" Morris, Roberto Hernandez, etc.. That was an unforgettable team from first day!!!
Willie Hernández originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as an amateur free agent pitcher in 1973 out of Aguada, Puerto Rico. After three seasons with the Phillies, he was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 1976 Rule 5 Draft. Before to the 1984 season, Hernández was traded to the Detroit Tigers. That season he had a 9–3 record, 32 saves, a 1.92 ERA in 140 innings pitched and recording 112 strikeouts. In the entire season, Hernandez gave up only 6 home runs, 30 runs, 36 walks, and 96 hits. In this amazing season Willie had 32 saves in 33 appearances. The Tigers finished with 104 wins and 58 loses that season, and went on to sweep the KC Royals lead by George Brett, Frank White, Willie Wilson and Dan Quisenberry in the American League Championship Series and defeat Tony Gwynn’s, San Diego Padres in the 1984 World Series, (four games to one). Hernandez pitched five innings in the series, had two saves, and gave up only one run. The 1984 season became historical for Major League Baseball and Lat ...
1935.it really doesn't seem that long ago - to me. But, for you younger folks here's a quick look at 1935 - TWA Stewardesses (Air Hostesses) began flying on the 14 passenger DC-2 Bruno Hauptmann was found guilty in the Lindbergh kidnapping. The first public housing project in the lower east side of NY City is started. Alcoholics Anonymous was founded. The Hoover Dam begins operations. Fort Knox is created to house the US gold bullion. Will Rogers and Wiley Post die in an air crash in Alaska. Detroit Tigers win the World Series. Jay Berwanger from U of Chicago wins the Heisman Trophy. First class postage stamp was 3 cents. Gasoline was 10 cents a gallon. Milk was .47 cents a gallon. Fresh baked bread was .08 cents a loaf. Besides me, ... there were some other famous people born in 1935: Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sandy Koufax, Bob Denver, Sonny Bono, Dudley Moore, Gene Wilder, Woody Allen.

For all baseball fans, here's a prediction: Detroit Tigers have won 9 in a row. Miami Marlins have won 8 of 10. Tigers and Marlins World Series seems pretty appetizing to me right about now.
Today is the birthday of Mickey Cochrane, born in 1903, he was a catcher for the Philadelphia Athletics and the Detroit Tigers from 1925 to 1937. A two time All-Star and three time World Series champion he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1947. Also known as “Black Mike,” he considered himself a better Football Player than a baseball player. He is considered to be one of the best catchers in baseball.
Wrigley Field. The 1935 World Series featured the Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs, with the Tigers winning in six games. The Tigers won despite losing the services of first baseman Hank Greenberg. The Cubs had won 21 consecutive games in September (still a record as of 2013), eventually taking the National League pennant by four games over the defending World Series Champions, the St. Louis Cardinals.
And we listened to Rock & Roll on our transistor radio & wished for the Detroit Tigers would win the World Series!
Although I enjoyed reading the Courant's special section on sports in the Sunday paper, it is a shame to have left out Farmington native, and still Connecticut resident *** McAuliffe. *** was a 16 year major league veteran with the Detroit Tigers, and the Boston Red Sox. He was a 3 time all-star, and World Series champion in 1968 with a great Tiger team. He was a power hitting infielder with 197 home runs life time. He had a storied career, is a Connecticut treasure, and certainly deserved mention. I had the pleasure of attending game 3 of the 1986 World Series in Boston with him and his family...great guy.
Prediction: 2014 Detroit Tigers win the weak AL Central again with a 94-68 record and beat Oakland in the ALDS (because it's what we do), beat Boston on the ALCS (payback), and beat the Braves in the World Series in 6 games for their first World Series in (gulp) 30 years.

MLB 2014: West teams chase low-budget Athletics By JANIE McCAULEY AP Baseball Writer The big-spending AL West also-rans of recent years once more find themselves chasing those overachieving, low-budget Oakland Athletics. Yet Bob Melvin’s A’s hardly consider themselves the favorite to win a third straight West crown, not in one of baseball’s best divisions that appears to have gotten even better this offseason. “Obviously they won the last two years, so they’re the team to chase,” Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre said. “There are probably teams that probably don’t take them seriously, but we do. They showed that they can get it done and as of right now, they’re the champions of the West. So it’s obviously that we’re chasing them now.” While New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter tries to finish his Hall Of Fame career in pinstripes the way he started it, with a World Series title, and the Detroit Tigers aim to unseat the defending champion Boston Red Sox, the West looks to be one ...

Its 1949, the Detroit Tigers decide to sign from Stroudsburg (North Atlantic) minor league team, outfielder Bubba Phillips. Phillips born in West Point Mississippi and plays his college baseball at Southern Mississippi. Phillips would be 86, but he passed on back in 1993 a the age of 65. After the season, he is traded to the White Sox for Virgil Trucks. He plays on the south side from 1956 thru 1959. He plays in 59 World Series against the Dodgers. He is traded to the Cleveland Indians. Plays for the Tribe from 1960 thru 1962. He returns to the Tigers for his final stop, plays in Motown 1963 and 1964
Detroit Tigers Team Preview Ian Kinsler's place at the top of the Tigers' order could make him an attractive middle-round pickup. The more things change, the more they stay the same. At least, that’s what the 2014 Detroit Tigers are hoping after they made two major offseason moves, despite reaching the ALCS and winning their third consecutive American League Central title. But for the Tigers, who are hoping to get back into the World Series, they were moves the team obviously felt were necessary. For fantasy baseball owners, the trades of both Prince Fielder and Doug Fister change the rankings a bit in their respective positions. With Fielder gone, and Ian Kinsler and Rajai Davis on board, the team should improve on its MLB-worst 35 Stolen Bases from 2013. One of the other major changes fantasy owners will have to adjust for is the change in management, as former catcher Brad Ausmus takes over as the Tigers’ skipper from Jim Leyland. Ausmus takes the keys of a machine that scored 796 runs last season ...
Todays is the birthday of Wally Pipp, born in 1893, he was a first baseman for the Detroit Tigers in 1913, then from 1915 to 1925 he played for the Yankees, and from 1926 to 1928 for the Cincinnati Reds. He was a World Series champion in 1923, but is best know for losing his starting role to Lou Gehrig because he had a headache. He is often quoted as saying “I took the two most expensive aspirins in history. Gehrig went on to play in 2130 consecutive games.
At 35, Victor Martinez has never played in a World Series and his contract with the Detroit Tigers is up after this season.
This has been a good night! I don't think I've smiled this much since the went to the World Series!
On January 26, 1962, baseball catcher and manager Steve O'Neill, son of County Galway natives, died in Cleveland, Ohio. He played for the Cleveland Indians, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Browns, and managed the Detroit Tigers to victory in the 1945 World Series.
Omar Vizquel, one of the best shortstops in Cleveland Indians and Major League Baseball history and a member of the Tribe’s 1995 and 1997 World Series teams, will be inducted into the Indians Hall Of Fame on Saturday, June 21. Vizquel is scheduled to appear briefly at Tribe Fest this weekend; he will be available to media on Sunday, tentatively at 11:30AM. Longtime Indians TV broadcaster Jimmy Dudley will be inducted posthumously into the Indians Distinguished Hall Of Fame for non-uniformed personnel. Of the 1,700-plus players who have worn a Blues, Bronchos or Indians uniform since 1901, Vizquel is the hall’s 40th member. He will be honored in a ceremony before the Indians game against the Detroit Tigers on June 21, and he will be honored with a permanent place in Heritage Park, behind the center field wall at Progressive Field. “I never thought that I could belong to a prestigious group of players that have given everything to the city of Cleveland in an Indians uniform,” Vizquel said. “My pri ...
"Beth missed seeing the Detroit Tigers winning the 2014 World Series! And the beer companies will mourn her passing."
Detroit's Prince Fielder Traded To the Texas Rangers Analysis: Rangers add slugger, Tigers get flexibility Jorge L. Ortiz, Usa Today Sports 2:10 a.m. EST November 21, 201 The Tigers traded Fielder to the Rangers for Kinsler Fielder has averaged 36 home runs and 111 RBI over the last seven seasons The Tigers will pay the Rangers $30 million to ship Fielder to Texas The Texas Rangers were one of Prince Fielder's most ardent suitors when he hit the free agent market two years ago. Now, in a roundabout way, they've landed the rotund slugger. In a stunning deal more than two weeks before the winter meetings, the Detroit Tigers agreed to send Fielder and cash to the Rangers for second baseman Ian Kinsler. BLOCKBUSTER: Tigers trade away Fielder There had been no previous rumblings about the trade, but it makes sense for both clubs on several fronts. The Rangers, who came within an out of winning their first World Series in 2011, failed to make the playoffs last season for the first time in four years as they dro ...
Well, I'm just going to say it. Detroit Tigers organization deserves to lose next seasons chance to win the American League Central Division Championship and World Series, after their General Manager, Dave Dombrowski, traded Prince Fielder! As a loyal Detroit Tigers Fan, I am outraged of this decision! I don't care if we are getting Ian Kinsler!!! He's not half as good as Fielder is! So just because he couldn't get a hit in the playoffs, they decide to trade him? I think that's showing no faith in Prince Fielder at all! I hope Prince Fielder hits a home run against Tigers pitching every time he steps-up to the plate, if we happen to verse Texas Rangers! However, if he does, I won't be watching it! I'm boycotting anything to do with Detroit Tigers baseball! I am already outraged at the decisions the entire front office have made this offseason, and it's just beginning. SMH at the Detroit Tigers entire organization! -_-
Since 2011, that is two Cy Young's and three league MVP's for the Detroit Tigers. And in that time, they have not won even one World Series game at all, let alone a title. That is very annoying !! There is just one thing for Brad Ausmus to do with the Tigers to make the fan's happy. And he needs to do it in his first year at the helm. That is pressure relative to sports.
No sooner than the final pitch is thrown in the World Series do baseball fans begin to think about how their favorite teams can improve. For the Detroit Tigers, close to the World Series is still too far away. Now that they've hired Brad Ausmus as manager, the focus shifts to free agency.
Usa Today DETROIT — As the sun set on Comerica Park on Sunday night, a new era of Detroit Tigers baseball dawned. After a week-long managerial search, former catcher Brad Ausmus was named the 37th manager in Tigers history, taking over for retired manager Jim Leyland. Ausmus, 44, played two stints for the Tigers during his 18-year big league career. He was traded twice by the Tigers. Now, he returns for a third – and seemingly final – time as manager. "I have a pretty good feel for the modern-day player," Ausmus said. "What the makeup is, what the mindset is." The Tigers' mindset is to win a World Series. And now. Ausmus is aware of that, and thanked both General Manager Dave Dombrowski, for the opportunity, and the media, for his "radio silence" over the last 48 hours. "I'm well aware that you don't generally get dropped into an opportunity with a team like the Detroit Tigers," Ausmus said. After four interviews, Dombrowski said, he was convinced Ausmus was the man for the job. "I was taken back wi ...
The hiring of Brad Ausmus marks the first time the Detroit Tigers will have a Jewish manager. As soon as Jim Leyland made his resignation public last month, Brad Ausmus' name immediately was mentioned on the short list of potential replacements for Leyland, who took the Tigers to the World Series tw...
Why Detroit Tigers why?? Brad Ausmus’ Detroit new manager is exceptionally interesting for three reasons: his lack of managerial experience; his lack of any previous working relationship with Dombrowski; and the Tigers’ all-in desire to win the World Series next year, which will afford the new manager little if any time to learn on the job.
I'm not looking to dwell on the past, I ONLY bring this up because the Red Sox are on the verge of winning their third World Series title this decade, can't help but wonder what could have been with the Detroit Tigers and Tiger Stadium. Tiger Stadium and Fenway Park opened up on the same date in 1912, Tigers management said in the mid 90s that Tiger Stadium was obsolete and couldn't be refurbished, they needed a new ballpark to compete in the modern era of baseball. Well since the Tigers moved to Comerica Park in 2000, they have won 3 division titles, 1 Wild Card, 2 pennants and NO World Series titles. The Red Sox since 2000, have won 2 division titles, 5 Wild Cards, 3 pennants and 2 World Series titles, and maybe a third tomorrow night, that's all I'm saying.
Remarques intéressantes de Steve Simmons du Sun: It’s looking like Tim Wallach is favoured to be the next manager of the Detroit Tigers. He goes back to Expos days with Detroit GM Dave Dombrowski ... The Blue Jays never seem to get a break. Two picks before Michael Wacha was chosen by the Cardinals in 2012 MLB Draft, the Jays selected outfielder D.J. Davis from Stone County High School in Mississippi. Wacha is starring in the World Series. Davis hit .240 for Bluefield of the Appalachian League. When was the last time the Jays had a Wacha or anything close? ... The Cards, by the way, have had 21 post-season appearances by pitchers 23 and under. The Jays don’t have a pitcher of consequence of that age at the major league level ... A stunning statistic pointed out by the Boston Globe: There is only one African-American player on the two teams in the World Series. But when I looked back at the Red Sox-Cardinals World Series from 1967, there were more than 10 black players, six of them starters on the two ...
October 26, 2006. St. Louis Cardinals are in Game 4 of the World Series. We are playing the Detroit Tigers at Busch Stadium. I was not at the game. As a matter of fact, I wasn't even watching the game on tv. There was something much more monumental going in in my life that night. Family members were gathered into a small bedroom in a circle around a bed singing gospel hymns--praying --and sharing memories while in that bed lay my 'Pop'. He was getting ready to leave this old world. He had run his race well and taught us how to really live. (a Christian life). Now he was teaching us how to die. Few people leave such an impression on not only his family but to all who knew him. We did say goodbye that night. That was seven years ago. Unbelievable how time flies . By the way, the Cardinals took the World Series title the next night. Cardinal Nation was ecstatic. But, I can say without a doubt that the title Pop won on October 26, 2006 far outshines that! Missing you, Pop, but glad you are home!!
Boston Red Sox Tame Detroit Tigers to Advance to World Series - . The Red Sox will open the Series on Wednesday...
The Detroit Tigers know all about throwing errors in the World Series. Think the Red Sox would learn
This season's World Series match up stirs up memories of my youth. Grab a cup of something warm. I'm gonna be awhile, here. It was 1967 and I as about to become a baseball fan forever. My dad thought his young boy was ready. Ready to begin the journey to understand the nuances and mysteries of our nation's finest game. Ready to learn how to fill out a scorecard. I attended my first game at Tiger Stadium that summer. Coming through the tunnel of the upper deck, I had never seen grass so green. He sat me down one night and continued my baseball education through its greatest event, the World Series. That year, the Boston Red Sox were up against the St. Louis Cardinals. As an American League family, we would root for the Red Sox, I was told. Carl Yastrzemski was the best player on the Sox. "The best player in ALL OF BASEBALL!" "MVP", I heard him say. "Triple Crown" entered my vocabulary. To this day, when I hear those words, I think of Yastrzemski, not horse racing. "Watch his technique", my dad said. "Not p ...
Last Halloween, Jacob's costume was a tiger. I felt a little weird, since the Detroit Tigers were in the World Series after beating the Sox. This year, just guess what Jacob's costume is? (Decided upon weeks ago, I promise.) He's too cute to get beat up, right?

The perfect fit for the Detroit Tigers managerial position would be Bob Brenly who led The Arizona Diamondbacks to a World Series title. Very similar to Jim Leyland in style and game management and experience. Good character figure players like to play for him he lets his players play. Brenly worked for WGN so he has a pulse on the Tigers and has always had good coaches on his staff. He has a son in the Diamondbacks organization also a catcher but I think this fit would click with out disrupting the apple cart so to speak. Excellent understanding of pitching staffs could really help a Justin Verlander continue to grow with experience handling Randy Johnson and Curt Shilling.

"It's been a thrill," added Leyland, who said he would take a different post with the Tigers but didn't want to be in the dugout anymore. "We won quite a bit. I'm very grateful to be a small part of that." Leyland said he had decided he wouldn't manage another season in September, but told few people, including his wife and Detroit General Manager Dave Dombrowski. Leyland said he told his players after their season was ended by the Red Sox on Saturday. "I didn't know how to take it when they clapped," Leyland quipped about the reaction from his players. "I spent the last 24 hours saying I wasn't going to get emotional. I had a lot of nice comments from my players." Leyland admitted that the six-game loss to the Red Sox in the American League title series "really hurt". "I felt like we let one get away, that's what hurt more than anything else," he said. "With all due respect to the Boston Red Sox, they earned it, I truly believe the Detroit Tigers should be playing (in the World Series)."
Jim Leyland announced Monday he is stepping down as manager of the Detroit Tigers after eight seasons that included three division titles and two trips to the World Series.
Manager Jim Leyland riled me dozens of times over the past eight seasons with his strategy and decisions for the Detroit Tigers. I often railed about such issues on FB. Pops and my Times-Union co-workers heard the grumblings, sometimes tinged with colorful language. If Leyland won a World Series in Motown, he'd be remembered as the best manager in the 112-year history of the Olde English D. Regardless, Leyland's accomplishments put him near the top. After two AL pennants, three playoff series victories over the hated Yankees and three consecutive AL Central titles, I tip my cap to Leyland.
News Blurbs for 10/21/13: 1. Firefighters are battling an enormous blaze in southeastern Australia today. Officials warn it could merge with another to create a "mega-fire" if weather conditions worsen. 2. Hurricane Raymond is picking up strength as it heads to Mexico's pacific coast, which is still trying to recover from last month's storm. 3. Detroit Tigers' manger, Jim Leyland, is retiring from baseball. On Wednesday, Game 1 of the World Series will see the Red Sox vs the Cardinals. 4. A graphic design professor broke the record for longest scarf knitted while running a marathon. Time: 5h 48m 27s. Scarf length: 12 feet.
I hope the Detroit Tigers and General Manager Dave Dombrowski are listening. The perfect manager to replace Jim Leyland, now that he has decided to resign, is Dusty Baker. Like Leyland, Baker is a "players' manager." I can't think of a better choice to take the Tigers to the World Series Championship that's eluded them.
Jim Leyland has resigned as the Detroit Tigers manger. Led Detroit to 2 American League pennants and first World Series in 1st year in 2006.
Was saddened to read that Detroit Tigers Manager Jim Leyland stepped down today after being in charge for 8 seasons. Three Central Division crowns, two World Series appearances, and a lot of good memories. Good luck on whatever endeavor you embark on next, Coach!!
Kirk Gibson's mammoth 3-run upper deck shot in the 8th inning of Game 5, which clinched the 1984 World Series Championship for the Detroit Tigers. Gibson had hit a 2-run homer earlier in the game, and also scored another run when he raced home from third base after a pop fly to the second baseman. A...
I am a proud fan of the Detroit Tigers, a member of the coaching profession, and someone who values quality leadership. That being said, I would like to say thank you to Jim Leyland and all that he did in his time in Detroit. I realize he fell short of the ultimate goal of winning the World Series, but the character, integrity, and professional approach he led his team with every day will be missed. Tiger fans and players should consider themselves lucky and honored to have had him here in this great state! Thank you Jim!
Breaking news.Jim Leyland, manager of the Detroit Tigers has resigned to end his 8 year tenure of that club!...Was it forced?...Most likely. If his managerial career is over, he leaves with a World Series title ( Florida, now Miami Marlins ), 2 American League pennents ( Tigers ), and 3 NL Eastern Division Crowns ( Pittsburgh Pirates ).He, in my opinion was HIGHLY over rated. He won his only World Series title with Wayne Hyzenga's assembly of millionaire free agents!...Has failed in Detroit with a wealth of talent.and never won in Pittsburgh with what was the best young team in baseball!.He does NOT deserve a spot in the Hall Of Fame in my opinion!.He was @ best, a middle of the road manager!
As most of you know, my Detroit Tigers were knocked out of contention for the 2013 MLB World Series crown by the Boston Red Sox. To show I am not a poor sport here is a kind word for the American League champions. It's nice how the NFL guys wear pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the MLB guys grew beards for Pedophile Awareness Month.
I did it...layered away the Detroit Tigers gear under straw and salt and dusted off the official Boston Red Sox cap that my wife brought back from right outside Fenway Park. I always enjoy the World Series anyway, and I do have a rooting interest because I hate the Cardinals because they...ah...I don't really hate any baseball team. Who am I kidding? PLAY BALL!
DETRIOT TIGERS of COURSE eBay shared the following link and had this to say about it: Who'll make it to the World Series? Boston Red Sox or Detroit Tigers?
We've been watching Game 6: Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox It's good so far and this will determine whether Boston is going to the World Series or Detroit Tigers will force a Game 7... Join us for the game and a chance to enjoy the beginning of a cold season to come...
My Tigers, 1968 ... what can I say? I can say a lot! Three men on, two men out. Game tied, 1-1, in the ninth inning. And the windup, and the pitch...He swings, a line shot, base hit, right field, the Tigers win it! Here comes Kaline to score and it's all over! Don Wert singles, the Tigers mob Don, Kaline has scored...The fans are streaming on the field...And the Tigers have won their first pennant since nineteen hundred and forty-five!... The 1968 Detroit Tigers won the 1968 World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 3. Mickey Lolich (my favorite pitcher, I didn't like McLain) pitched THREE COMPLETE GAMES - AND WON ALL THREE! - to win Series MVP honors. I remember watching Lolich hit his first and only home run in that World Series. Now baseball has relief pitchers and closers . to loose games. The Tigers used five relievers, with Joaquin Benoit surrendering the Ortiz blast, before Rick Porcello came on in the ninth to take the loss. What can I say about the 2013 Tigers? C'mon boys, rall . ...
And let's not forget the most famous 3-1 choke of all by the Cardinals: The 1968 World Series v. the Detroit Tigers.
“I’ve Been out of baseball for 6 years, been away from home for 43 years, this belongs to Alan Trammell and Kirk Gibson too…I’m proud that the Tigers bring their lunch pails to work everyday”. Jim Leyland, New Tiger manager, in 2006 after clinching a playoff spot. I had tickets to every Detroit Tigers playoff game in 2006, it was Magical! Ordonez, Pudge, Verlander, Zumaya, Todd Jones, Placido Polanco…many would say they overachieved by winning a trip to the World Series. It was Jim Leyland’s first year with a team that was built for Alan Trammell and Kirk Gibson. But they were fired/released and Leyland was perceived as the genius hired to take us to the next level. If not for an error filled World Series performance the dream would have been realized. “It’s tough times for the people in Detroit, we know that. Maybe they think we don’t think about that, but believe me, we do. I come from a big family, my dad was a factory worker. I know all about that stuff, about worrying abou ...
Just found out I'm going to the World Series game 2 in Detroit. 🐅
PROGRAM NOTE : Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers are playing in the A.L.C.S this week on Fox 47. Game Tuesday 2:30pm, Game Wednesday 6:30pm, Game Thursday 6:30pm. Who do you want to see playing in 2013 World Series? Game is October 23.
It's that time of year, the American League Championship Series. This year is a good one. The Detroit Tigers versus the Boston Red Sox. While I have lived in New England and been to Fenway, I have been a Tiger fan since the Tigers played the Oakland A's in the 1972 League Championship Series. Baseball legends like Norm Cash, Al Kaline, Bill Freehan for the Tigers and Vida Blue, Catfish Hunter and Gene Tennace for Oakland. We extracted some revenge this year by beating Oakland. Now it is time to beat the Sox and go to the World Series.
Finally a big win for the city of Detroit. Kwame Kilpatrick sentence 28 years and must pay Full Federal restitution and the Detroit Tigers advance one step closer to the World Series Championship.
Detroit Tiger won the decisive game to Oakland Athletics and they will face to the powerful Boston Red Sox. Detroit Tigers could pass to the World Series or they could be crushed by Boston Red Sox. You don't lose the ALCS between those two great baseball teams, it'll be filled of emotions.
If the Detroit Tigers win the World Series , I'm gonna buy me the Hohner White Tiger Accordion ! Whoot whoot ! Go Tigers

The Boston Red Sox have joined the L. A. Dodgers on the beach waiting for which team they are going to play to get into the Big Dance. Congrats to the Sawx. Tonight's game is Pirates and Cardinals, 8 PM on TBS. Who ya got? My pick was determined by a most unconventional method. The Buccos and the Cards have been pounding each other all year and the playoffs have not seen any let up. They are both bloody and gasping for air. The Cardinals colors of bright red show that blood. The Pirates wear Black and Yellow. Just the colors that decorate your body when bruising begins to heal. I'll take the team who's wounds are healing, the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are on a "rampage for Roberto." Time for some baseball history. 1. October 9, 1905. N. Y. Dear Detroit Tigers, I have been a fan my entire life and I have always supported you even in our dark days in the 90's. But Please Have Prince pull his head out of his *** and swing the bat, but swing when the ball is in the strike zone. Please help Tori find that sweet swing and timely hitting that he is capable of and proved he still has this year. Please help Austin learn to take a couple pitches and swing at good pitches not those that are out of the zone. Please heal Miggys injuries, just for 30 more days then he can rest. Please allow Ajax to continue to be productive this post season. Please help our bull-pen and their pitch selection. And please help JohnnyH in the out field, his bat is needed but we cant afford mistakes in the field. Please get rid of Andy Dirks he *** at the baseball. And please ease JV's mind, the man pitched his *** off only to have us let him down. and Please Tigers win the series I want to celebrate a World Series as an adult its been 29 years for us Tiger fans.. Q: What does an Detroit Tigers fan do when his team has won the World Series? A: He turns off the PlayStation 3.
Okay, here's a non-political rant from me (unusual, I know) regarding the naming of professional sports teams. Why are the St Louis Cardinals football team now the Arizona Cardinals? If I lived in St Louis, how could I root for the Rams as a home team, they're from Los Angeles! Shouldn't the Washington Nationals be called the Senators? Why are the Milwaukee Braves now the Atlanta Braves? Shouldn't the Atlanta baseball team be called the Falcons or something? Brewers sounds so silly, I'm so glad the Cardinals beat them in the 1982 World Series. How can you seriously root for teams with names like the Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Colorado Rockies? The ideal World Series teams are St Louis Cardinals v Boston Red Sox or Detroit Tigers, forget those Tampa Bay Rays, another silly name. NHL contenders should be the "original six", MLB the original 16 teams, NFL the original 14. Yeah, I realize that the Chicago Cubs were originally the Chicago White Stockings, the Los Angeles Dodger were originally t ...
Detroit Tigers begin their playoffs tonight against Oakland ... most sports analysts are predicting a quick and easy win for Oakland ... after all ... Cabrera is hurting. Forty-five years ago I had just completed Infantry Officers Basic at Fort Benning, drove back to Michigan to pickup my wife and infant daughter for a ride to Fort Devens. With my impressive pair of gold bars upon my shoulders :) I navigated into the Fort ... wondering where the *** I go and what the *** I needed to do to get a roof over the heads of my wife and daughter. Impressive quarters! To the South? of the big parade field by the ASA training center, we landed in a partitioned corner on the second floor of an old wooden barracks ... waiting for permanent housing. Every morning (early) our baby woke up crying as the cannon (pointed in our direction) on the parade field blasted the base awake. I was off to something like Electronic Warfare Cryptologic Officers Training ... my wife was left with others to watch the 1968 World Series . ...
I want to tell everyone about a special day in my life. Today, 2 Oct, but many years ago in 1968. I remember this because it was my parents anniversary, Instead of going out, my Mom and Dad stayed home and watched a World Series game. Dad bought Mom some yellow roses. Mom made us a meal of fried chicken and mashed potatoes and veggies and then cooked popcorn in an old Club Aluminum pot and Dad went to get us some Pepsi's, Dr. Pepper's, and him some 7 Up. Mom's beloved St. Louis Cardinals played my beloved Detroit Tigers. We watched Bob Gibson strike out about 18 Tigers and win a game to keep the Cardinals alive in the Series. My Dad teased her that it would not be enough and that the Tigers would win the Series. Sure enough, Denny McClain, who won 30 or 31 games that year, won two games in the Series and the Tigers became World Champs. I was 14 and my Mom would feign anger for about three weeks or a month after that and would not talk to me until I took off my Tigers cap. Life was good in the Ha ...
So I have been thinking about the Pittsburgh Pirates going into the playoffs, just a couple of observances. 1) Roberto Walker Clemente, we missed having 21 losing seasons(21 is Clemente jersey number) 2) Roberto Walker Clemente, it is the year 2013, 13 was his first jersey number on the Pirates 3) If we get to the NLCS, it is possible that we could play the Atlanta Braves, the team we lost to the last time we were in the Playoffs 4) If we make it to the World Series, we could play the Detroit Tigers who are coached by Jim Leyland, the last coach to take the Pirates to a playoff series Alot to fall into place, but it is possible!!
There is a saying "All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy". We all need to relax and enjoy life at some point. There is no better way to enjoy life than to watch our favorite sport or our favorite celebrity! Yes!Yes! Yes! We all argue! We debate and we fight about who's team is the best! We have our favorite teams and we have our favorite celebrities! We wear their jerseys with their names and numbers on it and we mimic the fashions of our favorite celebrities! Our thoughts and conversations are constantly about what teams are likely to play in the 2013 World Series? The Los Angeles Dodgers, The Boston Red Sox, or the Detroit Tigers? The Pittsburg Pirates or the Oakland A's? Will the Atlanta Braves make it?..In the NFL, The Patriots, The Broncos,The Kansas City Chiefs, and The Seattle Seahawks all have 4 wins and no losses! What team will make it to the Super Bowl?... And guess what sports fans...The NBA season will start Tuesday, October 29!... I can't wait! What about you? Do ya think that the M ...
1968 - Bob Gibson of the St. Louis Cardinals set a World Series record by striking out seventeen Detroit Tigers in Game 1
According to this the Detroit Tigers are 2-1 favorites to win the AL pennant. But the Sox are 7-5 via
I am only speculating but the government shut down is benefiting only one person (besides the moron politicians themselves) me. Since there are more folks at home, there are more folks sitting around reading my baseball ramblings. I need to call the Neilson people. Today's baseball goodies. 1. October 2, 1938. In the first game of a season ending double header (the old kind-- one price, two games) Cleveland Indian fireballer Bob Feller strikes out 18 Detroit Tigers to set a modern day (after 1901) record. Yes gang, it has been broken. But, Rapid Robert also gives up 7 walks, 7 hits, 4 earned runs and loses the game 4-1 running his seasons record to 17-11. The winning pitcher was Detroit's Harry Eisenstat who only strikes out three while giving up 3 walks, 4 hits and one run ending the season with a 9-6 record. Both Feller and Eisenstat pitched complete games. 2. On October 2, 1947 Yogi Berra hits the first pinch hit homer in World Series history. Yogi connects off Ralph Branca of the Brooklyn D ...
10 teams who are going to the World Series!!! Who do you want to win this year??? -Cincinnati Reds -Pittsburgh Pirates -LA Dodgers -St. Louis Cardinals -Atlantia Braves -Tampa Bay Rays -Cleveland Indians -Detroit Tigers -Oakland A's -Boston Red Sox
Rowdy & unorthodox, the Gashouse Gang were a rough-and-tumble flock of St Louis Cardinals who owned baseball in 1934. They took their nickname from the dirty, foul-smelling coal plants which were found near the impoverished neighbourhoods & rail yards in most urban areas throughout America. But their baseball talent was pure. Featuring such Hall Of Fame players as Leo "The Lip" Durocher, Dizzy Dean & his brother Daffy Dean, Pepper Martin, Spud Davis, Joe "Ducky" Medwick & player-manager Frankie Frisch, the Gashouse Gang became folk heroes during the Great Depression, as struggling Americans saw a spirit of hard work & perseverance in these common men rather than handsome & glorified figures. The Gashouse Gang featured 4 All-Stars, 5 regulars who hit at least .300 that season and pitcher Dizzy Dean -- a 30-game winner. The 1934 World Series pitted the charismatic Gassers against the Detroit Tigers, but it was the birds who destroyed the cats -- embarrassing the rival Tigers in Game 7 in Detroit. The legend ...
Dear Mr. Dombrowski, Was it your decision to throw the final series of the weekend, or was it Mr. Leyland's decision? I know I read in the Detroit News this week that Mr. Leyland did not like the idea of ending the regular season in a National League park like Miami. But the past two games have shown me that the Detroit Tigers are "just happy to be in the playoffs." Unfortunately, I am not happy to just be in the playoffs. This team was supposedly built to win a World Series. However, it looks like a team that will be sending its players home the second week in October. Thank you for your time, sir. Jeffrey R. Plum
congratulates the Detroit Tigers on becoming the 2013 American League Central division champions! Detroit led the Central most of the season and, despite midseason hysteria, was always the best team in the division and an elite squad capable of winning the World Series on the strength of power pitching and world class hitting. The Tigers feature the best free-agent acquisition of the season, Torii Hunter, a rejuvenated Victor Martinez, who has been tremendous in the second half after a sluggish start recovering from a difficult injury, a resilient catcher who has played better baseball recently, a kid shortstop with among the best hands in the league and a full complement of role players (Santiago, Dirks and Kelly) who could prove to be key contributors in the postseason, especially Infante. Peralta's bat returning to the lineup very well could be decisive next month, too. Of course, they also feature, in addition to a surging Prince, Miguel Cabrera, the best hitter in the world and one of the greatest .. ...
The Road to the World Series began tonight in Fenway Park for the Boston Red Sox while beating the Detroit Tigers...
04' was a great year for baseball. The San Diego Padres drafted Matt Bush overall while the Detroit Tigers settled for a pitcher known as Justin Verlander at The Mets selected Phillip Humber at while the Reds got Homer Bailey at Jared Weaver went to the Angels and the Royals got Billy Butler at Minnesota Twins got Trevor Plouffe and the Spankees got Phil Hughes. There have been 6 no hitters between those pitchers that year. Who knows without googling it how many each have and who is the pitcher that's the odd player out? Also, who won the World Series that year? No cheating.
As you sip your coffee on this Friday morning, May 31, 2013, the Pittsburgh Pirates have the second-best record in Major League Baseball at 34-20. They just beat the Detroit Tigers, the American League's World Series representative last year, in three out of four games. I know what happened in 2011 and 2012, people, and I know that the pitching is due for some regression, but I can't help but get excited watching these Battlin' Bucs. BELIEVE.
Detroit Tigers are my team, so, we're good, unless we both make it 2 the World Series lol. I'm actually a big Yadier Molina fan.
Maybe in San Diego, but in Detroit?!! As Kirk Gibson received a huge ovation after hitting a home run in Game 5 of the 1984 World Series, Vin Scully recited a Latin quote about how easily the glory of the world passes. Ten bucks if you can remember why...and who was sitting in the last row of the bleachers in left field that day with an obstructed view of the pitcher's mound. Bonus points if you know the Latin phrase.
If you had to choose between the 2 Detroit Tigers teams, the 2006 or 2012/13 roster (well pretty much 2012 just with the addition of V mart and Hunter and Subtraction of Valverde and Young) who would you choose? I choose 2012 because As the 2006 Detroit Tigers played in a tough AL Central winning 95 games and Winning the Wild Card with a team that Now wouldn't get higher than 3rd place, As the 2012 Tigers won the AL Central with 88 Wins and again a World Series visit, I still choose the 2012 Detroit Tigers or well the "New Tigers" Meaning the 2013 Tigers roster I'm Considering, were we Have Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder, Omar Infante, Tori Hunter, Victor Martinez, Jhonny Peralta, Quintin Berry, Andy Dirks, Austin Jackson, and star Pitcher Justin Verlander, with Doug Fister, Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello, More names noticeable, than Joel Zumuya, Chris Shelton, Craig Monroe, Curtis Granderson, Just to name a few. still with the all star team these new age Tigers have we will be in the World Series race for . ...
In 2012, the Detroit Tigers were supposed to run away with everything...division title, American League pennant, World Series! After all, the Tigers acquired Prince Fielder during the off-season; they had Justin Verlander on the mound; excitement was abounding! Once the season started, however, it was anything but a smooth ride! Victor Martinez went down for the season due to injury; a team that was supposed to score lots of runs was inconsistent at best; and the defense was not great! As time went on, the Tigers found their consistency on all facets of the game and started winning consistently. The Indians and White Sox hung with Detroit for a long time; Cleveland went on a losing streak right after the All-Star Break and was not heard from again while the White Sox actually led the division until a September slide eliminated them. The Tigers won 8 of their last 10 games to win a total of 88 games and the AL Central title! In postseason, Detroit eliminated the Oakland A's in 5 games in the ALDS, then swe ...
As pitchers and catchers report to spring training this week, the Los Angeles Angels and Detroit Tigers, both at 7-to-1, sit atop the LVH SuperBook's odds to win the 2013 World Series Two NL clubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals, are next at 8-to-1. The early World Series buzz has surrounded the possibility of a Freeway Series in 2013, but those residing in the Motor City and the nation’s capital anticipate a different outcome. The Nationals might have the best pitching staff in the game. Stephen Strasburg fronts a deep rotation that also includes Jordan Zimmermann, Gio Gonzalez and Dan Haren. The starters will hand the ball off to a potentially lights-out bullpen that will be able to protect slim leads throughout the season. The Tigers rotation doesn't boast the same depth, but ace Justin Verlander is among the best in the game. Offensively, the Tigers routinely outscore the opposition behind a lineup driven by Austin Jackson, Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera, Prince Fielder and Victor Ma ...

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Baseball Legend Ty Cobb is born – On this day in 1886, baseball legend Ty Cobb is born in Narrows, Georgia. After two weak seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Cobb emerged in 1907 to hit .350 and win the first of nine consecutive league batting titles. He also led the league that year with 212 hits, 49 steals and 116 RBIs. The tigers would also win the pennant that year but lost to the Chicago Cubs in the World Series. Cobb would go on to win the leagues Triple Crown in 1909 – most home runs (9), most runs batted in (107) and best batting average (.377). In 1911 he led the league in eight offensive categories and won the first American League MVP award. The following season he batted .410, becoming the first player in the history of baseball to bat better than .400 in two consecutive seasons. In 1920 he was made the Tigers player-manager a role he would keep until 1926 when he signed with the Philadelphia Athletics, he would hit .357 and become the first ever player to reach 4,000 t ...

Congratulations to Bruce Bochy's San Francisco Giants for sweeping the Detroit Tigers and winning the World Series!
I’m a baseball fan. And a San Francisco Giants fan. I watched a lot of baseball in the post-season. (If you’re wondering, Giants won the World Series, sweeping the Detroit Tigers in 4 straight games. reports are that the AL champion Detroit Tigers got $284,274.50 (also a record for the World Series loser) for reaching the Fall Classic. nice payday for those on the bottom of the payscale
Fresh off their World Series-clinching victory over the Detroit Tigers, the San Francisco Giants celebrated in style in their hometown. At San Francisco’s Infusion Lounge, fans toasted the team’s second championship in three years with bottles of Armand de Brignac Champagne, including a massive 15L Nebuchadnezzar of our flagship Brut Gold cuvée. Star closer Sergio Romo performed the honors, uncorking the Nebuchadnezzar himself and raising a glass to the celebratory crowd. The Giants join a long and growing list of athletes and teams who have established Armand de Brignac as the “Champagne of Champions.“ NBA basketball’s Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat, hockey’s Boston Bruins, the NFL’s New York Giants, and baseball’s New York Yankees have all made our Champagne their victory toast when celebrating their crowning achievements. Enjoy the images of Sergio Romo and the Gold Nebuchadnezzar!
Allen West finally conceded defeat in his Congressional race. In related news, the Detroit Tigers just conceded defeat in the World Series.
(WZZM) -- From the World Series to being honored with the Cy Young and Most Valuable Player awards, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has been called one of the greatest pitchers of our generation.
Miguel Cabrera won the first Triple Crown since 1967. He hit .330, crushed 44 home runs, had 139 RBI and led his team to the World Series. And there was a debate as to whether or not he deserved the AL MVP award? Yes there was, just not in Detroit (or amongst those that actually vote for the a...

I am very happy. Tori Hunter signed to Detroit Tigers. Detroit Tigers will go to World Series next year 2013.
When news broke Wednesday of the new two-year deal between Torii Hunter and the Detroit Tigers, the initial reaction was overwhelmingly positive and World Series wounds finally began to heal. To be fair, there are Tigers' fans out there with genuine concern for Hunter's age (37) and the perception t...
Philippines scours globe for baseball talent Philippines baseball officials have scoured the US and Japan professional leagues for players with the talent and eligibility to help the national side make it to the World Championships, officials said. Similar tactics have already been employed by the country's rugby union and football teams, with some success. "We're looking far and wide for good players with at least one Filipino parent. Everyone else is doing it," said Hector Navasero, president of the Philippine Amateur Baseball Association. The obvious plum target was Tim Lincecum of World Series Champions the San Francisco Giants, Navasero told AFP. The Filipino-American pitcher starred in relief in the Giants' World Series sweep of the Detroit Tigers last month, but declined the Philippine offer out of respect for his father. "His mother was born in the Philippines, but it was his father who raised him after the couple split," Navasero said. Instead 14 players mostly from the US minor leagues have been ...

I'm late in saying this, but I really had fun performing in the "lane" at the Phantom Feast at the KC Ren Fest site! I'm disappointed the Detroit Tigers got swept ing the World Series, but I'm still proud of them. It was especially satisfying sweeping the NY Yankees to get there!
Flashback Friday: I slept in today... enjoying my day off. This song is for the SF Giants who defied major odds in sweeping the Detroit Tigers in the World Series. I love this song & really enjoyed living in the Bay Area. Have a great day everybody!

Sports Illustrated, You suck! How are you going to put the Lakers on the cover when the San Francisco Giants just won the World Series? Oh and to top it off, on page 64 you have an article about the Detroit Tigers! Um hello...I guess you were not informed about the fact that they got swept? You are not my friend, you ***

His team finds itself of the verge of getting swept into the offseason, and he is struggling at the plate during the World Series, but Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera came away from Comerica Park on Saturday night with perhaps … Continue reading →
The 2012 World Series has made me almost forget the 1987 Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays had a 7 game lead near the end of the season but choked and lost the AL East divisional race to the Detroit Tigers, by only one game and only one run. The baseball posteason collapses in 2012 make 1987 seem tame.
Ernie Harwell, I am glad you were not here to see your Detroit Tigers in the World Series. I f you were watching from heaven, remember: "No Tears In Heaven." R.I.P Ernie we still miss you so much.
Well it's been a wild couple of days. First The Giants win the World Series after being given up for dead on the 2 series with the Reds and the Cardinals. Then they sweep a very good and might add classy Detroit Tigers team. I was so stunned I was speechless, which doesn't happen often. Fun Fact: There was only 1 starting person (excluding pitchers) from the 2010 winning team.Buster Posey. This makes their win even more incredible. Yesterday and into the evening kept tabs on my youngest daughter who lives on the lower East Side of Manhattan near the East River. Wet, Windy and WILD was what she said. No internet or power and cell phone batteries getting low but otherwise just fine. Water got up over tires and set off car alarms around her neighborhood. Called this morning and still ok and even might go to work in mid-town as her work has electricity. Glad your ok sweetie
(Belated) CONGRATULATIONS to the San Francisco Giants for winning the World Series by crushing the Detroit Tigers. They made Detroit appear to be meek and mild, yet Detroit swept the Yankees! I truly believe - this year - the "Top Four" National League Teams could have defeated Detroit, or New York. This year it appears GREAT to be a San Francisco fan (both the Giants and the 49ers are dominating their respective sports). For a city with unpredictable weather, and one of the highest "cost of living" rates in the USA, it really is amazing they can fill their baseball and football stadiums week-in, and week-out, from March to January. Their fans are rabid, and their Teams produce winners!
Detroit Tigers have best odds to win 2013 World Series: Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer is congratulated by teammate...
Let's see. Now that the World Series is over, the Detroit Tigers have to decide what to do with some of their players. Designated hitter/outfielder Delmon Young, starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez, closer Jose Valverde and backup catcher Gerald Laird are now free agents. Furthermore, there's a $3.5-million option on reliever Octavio Dotel and a $6-million option on shortstop Jhonny Peralta. And manager Jim Leyland is finishing a 1-year contract he signed last August. Who should we keep & who should we get rid of?
A moment of silence to share in the pain of those brave fans of the Detroit Tigers. San Francisco Giants win the 2012 World Series. (I understand that brooms were purchased in record numbers throughout Michigan this morning ...)
If nothing else, at least not many people watched the Detroit Tigers get swept by the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. The Fox network averaged an 8.9 overnight rating over the four games nationally, which is expected to make it the least-watched Fall Classic of all time, the Sports
Argus Hamilton again - Barack Obama told Jay Leno he might back the Detroit Tigers over the San Francisco Giants in the World Series. He said he may change his mind. Mitt Romney blasted the president for trying to have it both ways and came out in favor of the San Francisco Tigers.
Is it 5pm yet? Honestly folks, this has been, the hardest, toughest, most tired, mentally & physically excruciating day of work for Cowboy Eddie as he begins his 30th week of work @ TeleTech. No thanks to the Detroit Tigers for being swept in 4 straight baseball games in the 2012 World Series; as I was cutting up San Francisco Giants celebrating as World Champions with dozens of sound byte clips till 4am Monday morning (today). Thanks a lot. Hey Now! From Cowboy Eddie :-)
I think the Detroit Tigers had some Jacksonville Jaguars playing for them in the World Series. Because they sucked. Just saying.
Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants on the SWEEP of the Detroit Tigers. Nice World Series...Remember Rolling Rock beer specials $1.50 long necks all day and night on Monday's. Red Beans and Rice w/Italian Sausage, Mixed Green Salad w/Mixed Berry Vinagrette, And a sloppy Roast Beef Poor Boy to finish the day. Come one, come all, come hungry, leave drunk...

"What were we supposed to do, lose three?" - Prince Fielder, slugger for the Detroit Tigers, who was asked by the media about whether an extended playoff series would have been better than a sweep of the Yankees, and their subsequent extended layoff before the World Series.
Bad day today if you're a Tiger. The Tiger Cats played their last game @ Ivor Wynne stadium and the Detroit Tigers lost the World Series.
Detroit Tigers never had a chance once Obama picked them to win the World Series. Obama only picks losers ! Among the many, Solyndra, Battery maker A123 Systems (bankrupt after $132 million of tax payer money, Jon Corzine (lost to Chris Christie as NJ Governor), the ENTIRE 2010 election cycle, and picks the Village *** Joe Biden as VP. And trying to get the 2016 Olympics for Chicago. Out on the first ballot. Obama only pick LOSERS.
One of the worst World Series performances in history for the Detroit Tigers. Next year looks promising though. Whether Leyland is managing or not. Valverde will be gone. We'll have a new closer and Victor Martinez will be back. The Delmon Young, Brennan Boesch, Andy Dirks, Quintin Berry outfield dilemma will get sorted out eventually. Plus Jhonny Peralta and Alex Avila can't possibly have a worse year than this one. So all in all, next year is shaping up to be fairly promising. Go Tigers in 2013!
D-sports: NFL; Detroit Lions win over Seattle Seahawks 28 to 24 at home. MBL; World Series game 4; Detroit Tigers lost to San Francisco Giants 3 to 4 in ten innings, homeruns by M. Cabrera & D. I just want you to know, Detroit Tigers, you will always be my team. I am proud of you for getting to the World Series, and nothing will diminish that. Thanks for an exciting season! P.S. Phil Coke, you're my hero. Thanks for not hitting me with your truck.
Thank you Detroit Tigers for a memorable 2012 season - *** it ended the way it did - But let the Josh Hamilton Recruiting Campaign Begin!!! Miguel Cabrera - Prince Fielder - Josh Hamilton - Victor Martinez - With that we may be able to finally score some runs in the 2013 World Series!!!
How do you Detroit Tigers fans feel about putting up as good a performance as the Houston Astros in the World Series? You know you like it.
Sports Update: 1. Michigan Football loses Denard, loses to Nebraska. 2. Liverpool FC were utterly hosed on a last second offside call; had the goal stood as it should have, would have won them the game. The worst offside call I've ever seen. 3. Detroit Tigers are choking away the World Series again. but... 4. Detroit Lions pull out a last second win! Thank you Lions for salvaging the weekend. The rest? Another week of suffering. *sigh*
"Just keep fighting." Quintin Berry, Detroit Tigers, following third loss in a row in the World Series, during which the Tigers have scored an average of one run per game...

From Ryan Schuiling: "The last time the National League champion shut out the American League champion in back-to-back World Series games was in 1919, 93 years ago. That year is significant to even the casual baseball fan, as it was the Cincinnati Reds who defeated the Chicago White Sox... in a Series that Eight Men Out decided to lose intentionally, accepting the bribes offered by New York crime syndicate racketeer Arnold Rothstein. So the Detroit Tigers made history tonight. The absolute worst kind of history."
I think the Detroit Tigers players were kidnapped and the Cleveland Indians stepped in to take their place in the World Series!!
Mike and Marian Ilitch - Detroit Tigers - Gambling Casino ??? Mike Ilitch is getting a lot of positive publicity now that the Detroit Tigers have reached the World Series - but you must look behind the curtain - and see - what's behind the story. Mike Ilitch has invested a lot of money in the Tigers (MLB) and the Detroit Red Wings (NHL) both professional sports teams - but his wife owns a Gambling Casino - The Motor City Casino) in Detroit, also - Is it wrong ??? Yes...Yes...but MLB and the NHL have failed to try and stop this obvious - conflict of interest... Mile Ilitch has invested money in Detroit, but is he poorer now because of it...NO NO NO...he has reaped the benefits of his efforts and tax breaks and concessions from public officials, who were to sqeamish to stand up to him. He is responsible for the destruction, of historic Detroit Tiger Stadium, a national treasure and a revenue source for deficeit riddent Detroit, along with George Jackson, of the DEGC and other sqeamish city officials (includ ...
To commemorate the World Series 2012, I’ve planned ajockstrap-studdedseries of posts for tomorrow, but for now check out Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers. Despite what the pictures imply, he’s a pitcher. I know, I know… what a waste.
Kayakers compete with ball hawkers for World Series balls hit out of AT&T Park and into McCovey Cove in San Francisco for Game 1 of the Detroit Tigers v. the San Francisco Giants. 10/24/12 Elisha Anderson/Detroit Free Press
The World Series begins today at AT&T Park with 10 former San Jose Giants on the San Francisco roster. God is a awesome God & I thank him for these past two weeks. They truly have been filled with many surprises. On Sunday the 14th I ministered at GEHT. My text was I am a Survivor and oh God moved through the House of God. Three days later the Tigers won ALC and the same day at Northwestern High School (The Big NO) we celebrated one of Detroit Tigers best. Mr. Willie Horton and also it was his 70th birthday. Wow what an experience. In 1968 he was on that Tigers team that won the World Series. Then on the following Sunday my brother Pastor P Wendell Hogan ministered a word letting us know that we Only Have To Believe and then my uncle Supt. Robert Hogans spoke the same word in the afternoon. He prayed for my daughter Angel. WOW to get the same script twice God truly was telling the church to BELIEVE. And then the enemy wanted to get busy. Angelina fell down the school cement stairs. She was taken to emergency. Was release and then called back because they said they saw something in your neck. But we sent ou ...
Pablo Sandoval hits 3 home runs in game 1 of the 2012 World Series vs Detroit Tigers. All rights go to the MLB.
Jim Leyland's Detroit Tigers are in trouble in the World Series , down 2 games to zero..they need a big win in the next game or they're going down. Im rooting for the Tigers 'cause of Jim Leyland, one of the best managers the Pirates ever had... speaking of your luck running out..Yankee pitcher Catfish Hunter at one point in his first year with the Yankees won 6 in a row and then one game he got shelled for 6 runs in the first inning.and was taken out of the game..reportes gathered aroung his locker after the game and asked ,, 'Catfish what happened out there today".. Hunter replies.." The sun don't shine in the same dog's *** everyday"...T
Yes, this World Series hasn’t been a whole lot of fun for we Detroit Tigers fans after two games. With Justin Verlander and Doug Fister starting Games One and Two, I (like many other fans and so-called “experts”) believed Detroit would leave San Francisco at least with a 1-1 series tie against the ...
I never dreamed that I would personally know someone that is playing in the World Series. His name is Andy Dirks. And he plays for Detroit Tigers. I have known him since he was a young man going to school at Haven. He was a fantastic athlete at Haven ad at WSU. So glad to have known him.
Best quote of the World Series so far, "Doug Fister plays for the Detroit Tigers, but I'm betting he's got a few fans in San Fran".

*** yeah, go Giants. Another great game leading the San Francisco Giants to lead the World Series 2 games to none against the Detroit Tigers and now with the next 3 games taking place in Detroit we have Ryan Vogelsong an Matt Cain pitching the first two games of that series... Woo Hoo.
Madison Bumgarner shut down the Detroit Tigers for seven innings, then the Giants took advantage of a bunt that stayed fair to eke out the go-ahead run in a 2-0 win Thursday night for a 2-0 edge in the World Series.
