Word of the Day: "Touron": A large grazing omnivore prone to herding; generally simple minded and distracted by shiny objects. The touron is the result of crossbreeding the ugly American with buffalo. This genetically modified organism can often found congregating in amusement parks, Sea World, Magic Mountain, Pier 39, Disneyland, Wine Country-- and anywhere corn dogs are served. The touron is often found on the Golden Gate Bridge, slowing to see why all the other vehicles have slowed (usually in the far left lane). They tip generously--often as much as 8%, and have singlehandedly kept the Tea Party alive... They are easily identified by their bad and often inappropriate dress, general cluelessness and a "deer in the headlight" look when confronted or challenged by something as simple as a traffic sign or "Sale" signs.
If you were going to SanFran, what would you do? So far, we've scheduled Alcatraz, Muir Woods National Monument, Wine Country (Napa & Sonoma) and a walk along the Golden Gate Bridge.

Joe Montana's Former San Francisco Condo for Sale under: News, Celebrity Homes Whether you're rooting for the San Francisco 49ers to win the Super Bowl or not, you'll probably still agree that former 49ers quarterback (and all-around football legend) Joe Montana has scored some touchdowns in real estate. Not only does he have a stunning $35 million Tuscan-style estate in California's Wine Country, but Joe Cool also used to live in some sweet digs in San Francisco. Though his former San Francisco condo is way more low-key than his Napa Valley mansion (like way, way more low-key), it's still totally nice. The spacious home offers wood-burning fireplaces, nine-foot ceilings, a private roof deck and views over the Golden Gate Bridge. It's still pricey -- $5,000 a month to rent -- but much more affordable than Montana's $35 million home (which has been on the market for a while). Plus, for added football star power, rumor has it that former wide receiver Dwight Clark also lived in the San Francisco townhouse, ...
Stopped to enjoy the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge and to munch on some Brad's Raw Chips as I continue to make my way to wine country! I met some friends who were also enjoying the scenery and I happened to get in their photo shoot too!
Day 3. After a fun filled night on the town, it was time take in some of the beautiful sights of California!!! So we hoped on a minibus to head to Muir woods with our very informative (and funny) German tour guide Roman. It's hard to even put in to words the astonishing beauty of this natural habitat. It definitely has a calming affect on ones soul. After about an hour of breathe taking sights in the woods, we were off to "Wine Country"!!! We made 3 different stops to a few of the many wineries on this tour to learn and taste some of the most delicious tasting wines I have enjoyed since my time in Spain. In between wineries we stopped at the quaint little town of Sonoma, where we enjoyed a wonderful lunch which we happily shared with Roman so that we could pick his brain on all the interesting facts about Wine Country. I highly recommend this tour even if your not a wine lover, cause it was a unbelievable experience to take in. On the way back to the hotel, Roman took us on a scenic route which included ...
Got back yesterday from a week-long business/pleasure road trip with brother-in-law/long-distance colleague Bill Sledzik. Last Tues. night, we tore through some neighborhood hangouts in the Nob Hill section of San Francisco (I think we caused an earthquake). Wed. through Fri. afternoon, we presented at & attended the Edelman Digital Media Academic Summit at Stanford U. (the only way SU would let me on campus). Fri. afternoon through Sunday, we hung out with an old frat bother & his girlfriend across the Golden Gate Bridge in a "floating homes" community in Sausalito, with side trips to the hillsides of Marin County & a wine-tasting at Benziger Winery somewhere in "Wine Country." I recommend a trip out to "Northern Cali" if you can swing it. Photos & videos to follow? Maybe later. Dissertation is calling!
