Fun fact about money: In 1928, the federal government overhauled its system of printing bank notes. It shaved about an inch of length and just under a half-inch of width off the bills and issued the new, smaller bills in the $1 to $100 denominations with which we're familiar. However, the Treasury also issued larger denominations. They featured William Mckinley ($500), Grover Cleveland ($1,000), James Madison ($5,000) and Salmon P. Chase ($10,000).
William Mckinley was on the 500 dollar bill. Grover Cleveland was on the 1000. James Madison was on the 5000. Salmon P. Chase was on the 10 dollar bill. Woodrow Wilson was on the 100,000 dollar bill, it was mostly used between reserve banks. All these bills have been discontinued from production as they serve no purpose. Three Dollar Bill Yall$ was a horrible album by Limp Bizcit which should probably also be discontinued.
The Question: What was the highest denomination of bill the U.S. Treasury ever printed and which president is on it? The Answer: The highest current denomination is the $100 bill. The highest bill ever printed, however, was a $100,000 note that was printed from December 18, 1934 to January 9, 1935. It was used for transactions between Federal Reserve Banks. President Woodrow Wilson was pictured on the front. The following bills have not been in print since 1946: $500 (William Mckinley); $1,000 (Grover Cleveland); $5,000 (James Madison); and $10,000 (Salmon P. Chase, former Treasury Secretary).
