It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beats Novak Djokovic today. He's given him tough games before and you can never underestimate the power of that French Crowd. 5/1 is a very generous price in a tournament that has been filled with upsets. Ernests Gulbis is also very capable of beating Roger Federer today. The Latvian is dangerous and can take the racquet out of your hands. Roger is playing great but we're having a small piece of the 7/4. Sam Stosur is another who could cause an upset today. She faces Maria Sharapova and I just don't see Stosur losing right now. She looks so relaxed and we haven't seen any of the struggles closing out matches that we're used to. The hot weather will add to her big spinning serve and her game in general. Take the 3/1.

Richard Gasquet and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will both play for France in their Davis Cup QF match against Germany next month.
Frantic February continues on with another week packed full of extraordinary tennis action around the world. It's Week 8 with three more tournaments in France, Brazil and the southeastern United States. Let's get to the action, shall we? Open 13 (Marseille, France) There has been some unbelievable moments played indoors as the men tracked across Europe the last couple of weeks. They return to France for the second time as the winter indoor season wraps up...with a bang. As in Montpellier, the draw was packed with the native Frenchmen all looking for a home win. Among them, the French and defending champion, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, was hoping to reclaim his crown for a home soil 'hat-trick' and grab his first title of 2014. With 'sky's-the-limit' ambitions, Ernests Gulbis-the tour's rockstar (and at least to me..their Tony Stark)-took the tournament by storm showing off the skills to help him achieve his goal. The Latvian swept past many talented Frenchmen all the way to the championship match where he ...
Federer out to continue revival 23 February By Richard Eaton Dubai – Roger Federer's performance in reaching the semi-final of the Australian Open last month is the first step in a mini-revival of tennis' great legend. This week could see the second. That is the scenario Federer intends pursuing when he returns to the ATP Tour and tries to win back the title at his adopted second home at the Dubai Open. Victories over Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Melbourne will be followed by a chance to challenge Novak Djokovic, the top-seeded titleholder, here. Although the formidable Serb is seeking a record fifth Dubai title, Federer has a better record against Djokovic than against Rafael Nadal, the man who halted him last month, and he feels encouraged by his performances in the first Grand Slam of the year. “I think it has been a very good start to the season for me overall, “ Federer said. “I have played some really good tennis. I still feel my best tennis is ahead of me right now. “So I'm looki ...
Murray Offers Valentine's Day Advice - Andy Murray, Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga offer advice for romantics on 14 February and discuss what they have planned on Valentine’s Day. [[More Tennis News on ATPWorldTour.com]]
February 8 2014 Dubai UAE Novak Djokovic is accustomed to defending titles, but his defence of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships crown he claimed in 2013 will have a special edge to it. The Serbian will not only be bidding to equal Roger Federer’s record title tally of five when play in the ATP World Tour 500 Series Event begins on 24th February, he will also be trying to accomplish a career-first and win a title for the fifth time. So the pressure will be on as he faces a spectacular field that includes not only arch-rival Federer but 2013 semi-finalist Juan Martin Del Potro, recent Australian Open semi-finalist Tomas Berdych and the entertaining Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. “The pressure is always there as a top player. I do feel there's always high expectations,” said Djokovic, who won the title in 2009-11 as well as 2013. “But it's all part of our sport. It's what we need to deal with. It's what we need to accept and, you know, try to use it in a positive way. “By saying that, I ...
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga gets hit below the belt by Andy Murray in their Wimbledon Semifinal match
Monday once again saw the Two Ronnies battle out trivia at PJ's. Gordon Dobbin had earlier completed an all week Mensa course by 12.20pm that afternoon and had repaired to PJ's for the true test... suffering 168 Superbowl highlight replays on ESBN. By the time I arrived he could name all the players in chronological order of the first lynched ascendant. The pick-a-pick sheet was an omen. We were quietly confident of having zero of the available points. The heated argument whether one of the child photos was Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or Jimmy Hendrix was moot when Barack Obama was read as the answer. Moving with the speed and grace of moss-encrusted granite the lumbering Dane failed to reach the podium in time to win the spot-question on which European country Jutland was located. The chance of redemption came when another spotty was a maths question: how much would you have if you had one of every denomination of Australian currency? As Gordo was at the bar ordering my 12th, I though back to my third year numeri ...
Jack’s Tennis Tip – Racket talent or athletic ability? I have a theory that you can put tennis players (any player) into one of two categories. They either fall under the category of 'racket talented' or 'athlete.' I made up this theory quite a while ago but I still think it is valid. There are a few players that confuse me but for the most part I think my theory holds true. Obviously the lines blur in some instances and without a doubt all of the players on the professional tour are racket talented and supremely athletic too, but bear with me; Rafael Nadal - athlete Novak Djokovic - athlete Stanislas Wawrinka - racket talented Juan Martin Del Potro - racket talented David Ferrer - athlete Andy Murray - athlete Tomas Berdych - racket talented Roger Federer - racket talented Richard Gasquet - racket talented Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - athlete Kei Nishikori - racket talented Gael Monfils - athlete Milos Raonic - racket talented John Isner - racket talented Grigor Dimitrov - racket talented Serena Williams - A ...

In the eyes and words of Rafael Nadal, tennis is a simple game. Perhaps the man he defeated yesterday to secure third place at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, would beg to differ. The Frenchman was firing monstrous serves – on a surface that has been unanimously dubbed by the players as the fastest they’ve played on this year – including 14 aces but still could not prevent a 7-6 (7/5), 6-3 defeat to Nadal. And while Nadal’s rivals like Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic have opted to bring in legends like Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker to reinforce their teams, Rafa is again keen to keep it simple and work with his tried and trusted team. Nadal, who has been coached by his uncle Toni all his life, says he doesn’t need a tennis legend to guide him on tour. “My feeling is that is depends on the player,” said Nadal. “I think coaching tennis is not a big deal. We are not doing something very very difficult – tennis is a simple game at the end of the day. “It’s m ...
