My coin flip bracket says New Mexico will lose to Wichita State in the NCAA finals. That result would be acceptable.
Florida, Arizona and Wichita State have sewn up No. 1 seeds come Selection Sunday. The question is who should be the fourth No. 1? Virginia's loss at Maryland probably took them out of the running although beating two of Duke, North Carolina and Syracuse could vault them back into the discussion. The Blue Devils and Orange also have shots with SU possibly getting the fourth No. 1 even with one more humongous win despite a free-fall towards the end of the regular season. Kansas with eight losses could make their case winning the Big 12 Tournament. A nine-loss Jayhawk squad should be a 2 seed however. Michigan, Villanova and San Diego State are the only other contenders for a No. 1 seed with Wisconsin losing at Nebraska. Another victory over New Mexico could be all the Aztecs need to snag a No. 1 seed. Sure most of the country would be up-and-arms on how could SDSU and the Shockers secure No. 1 seeds, but I say they deserve it. How many teams can say they won in Lawrence this year besides KU? No one. Villan ...

Davidson adds Duke to brutal non-con schedule Davidson is moving to the A-10 after next season, which is a dramatic scheduling upgrade from the Southern Conference, where the Wildcats have played (with brief breaks) since 1936. According to KenPom.com, the SoCon was the nation’s No. 27 conference last season. The A-10, on the other hand, was a solid No. 8. You’d think that might be enough of an upgrade for head coach Bob McKillop, but you’d be wrong. According to the Charlotte Observer, the Wildcats have just finished adding ACC members Duke, North Carolina and Virginia to the upcoming slate. For added degree of difficulty, Final Four participant Wichita State will also be on the docket. Add that to a November date with the Charleston Classic, which includes Clemson, Georgia, New Mexico, Temple and UMass. McKillop is said to be looking for a date with Gonzaga as well. Granted, those matchups will come in the school’s final season in the SoCon, but McKillop says it’s not a farewell tour so much a ...
Kansas men's basketball annually has one of the toughest schedules in the nation and its 2013-14 non-conference slate will be as competitive as ever with the likes of Duke, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, Georgetown and San Diego State along with several other major conference favorites.
How about them Sycamores? Indiana State men's basketball team have knocked off Ole Miss, The U, and Wichita State...all top teams in their respective conferences at the time they have played them...all on the road. Not to mention, taking New Mexico to OT and hanging with San Diego State, both ranked currently in the Top 25. They have two more contests vs. Top 25 teams in Wichita State and Creighton, the two teams ahead of them in their conference, but good friggin' gravy...these guys may get some looks for some post-season play even if they don't win their conference. NIT at the very least...
I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Came here to West Texas just under 3 years ago. I won't be leaving this state anytime soon if I can help it. Where is everyone else from? Would love to hear how some of you ended up in Texas.
