1 st JULY IS DOCTORS DAY WISHING ALL MY DOCTOR FRIENDS HAPPY DOCTORS DAY IN ADVANCE GOD and the Doctor we alike adore But only when in danger, not before; The danger o'er, both are alike requited, God is forgotten, and the Doctor slighted.” — Robert Owen Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, second Chief Minister of West Bengal, in whose memory Doctor's Day is celebrated in India on July 1, is cherished as a great physician even today. Born on July 1, 1882, and died the same date in 1962 aged 80, he left an indelible mark by his contributions and proved Robert Owen wrong! He was the embodiment of the following statement: “A doctor, like anyone else who has to deal with human beings, each of them unique, cannot be a scientist; he is either, like the surgeon, a craftsman, or, like the physician and the psychologist, an artist. This means that in order to be a good doctor a man must also have a good character, that is to say, whatever weaknesses and foibles he may have, he must love his fellow human beings in the .. ...

In another gimmick to reinforce its power over West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress-run Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a new proposal. The KMC, on Monday, passed a proposal saying that it will award full waiver of property tax for 2014-15 to anyone who paints his/her apartment building in white and sky blue colours. The two colours, favorite of TMC chief and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, are the hues of TMC.
friends remember the story & salute them . In April, 1960, a proposal was raised at the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, to declare Assamese as the one and only official language of the state.[1] Tensions ran high in the Brahmaputra Valley, where Assamese mobs attacked Bengali Hindu settlements. The violence reached its peak between July and September, during which an estimated 50,000 Bengali Hindus fled the Brahmaputra Valley and arrived in West Bengal. Another 90,000 fled to Barak Valley and other regions of the North East. An one man enquiry commission was set up under Justice Gopal Mehrotra. According to the report of the commission, 4,019 huts and 58 houses belonging to Bengali Hindus were vandalized and destroyed in 25 villages of Goreswar in Kamrup district, which was the worst affected by violence. Rise of naari Shakti (Power of Women) in India! Indian electorate is finally getting back to its old Hindu traditional roots where women were adored as Gods. I am liking it. The latest 16th Parliament of India has 61 Women MPs. Four women MPs are elected from Gujarat BJP. A lady Ms. Anandiben Patel is going to take over as the Chief Minister of Gujarat stepping in to Narendra Modi's vacant seat. India has four National parties headed by four ladies. Sonia, Maya, Mamta, Jaya. Out of these two ladies made impressive performance. (1) Ms. Mamta from West Bengal won 34 out of 42 seats. (2) Ms. Jayalalitha from Tamilnadu won 37 out of 39 seats. (3) Ms. Sonia as head of Congress now has 44 seats. (4) Ms. Mayavati a close friend of Sonia has no seats at all. It is a ladies fight hence men shouldn't comment on them :-) Mamta attacked media for not giving enough coverage of her impressive victory because she won 34 out of 42 seats. Where as Jayalalitha did something impressive. She bought the full front page a ...

Yeddyurappa will contest from Shimoga in Karnataka, Ananth Kumar told a press conference while announcing the decision taken at the meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee headed by BJP Chief Rajnath Singh, and attended by Narendra Modi, L K Advani and other top leaders. 71-year-old Yeddyurappa had to resign as Chief Minister of the state on August 1, 2011, after a corruption case was lodged against h ...

Both should be hanged. It shouldn't be allowed even if a woman goes by consent." Asaram Bapu, the controversial self-styled Godman, says “The victim is as guilty as her rapists… She should have called the culprits brothers and begged before them to stop.” Ranjit Sinha, director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), says “If you can’t prevent rape, you enjoy it”,  Botsa Satyanarayana, Congress Minister, says "Just because India achieved freedom at midnight does not mean that women can venture out after dark" Jitender ...

West Bengal in the High Tide of Development: March 01, 2014 Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated a slew of development projects and laid the foundation stone for many others from the state secretariat Nabanna in Howrah. The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into immediate effect once the Election Commission (EC) announces the Lok Sabha poll dates. The MCC does not permit announcement or launch of any projects. Hence, to keep the surge of development in the state going, the Chief Minister inaugurated projects en masse. The proposed projects involve 10 to 12 departments such as the Agriculture, Agri Marketing, Backward Classes Welfare, Education, Health, Information and Cultural Affairs, Municipal Affairs, Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education, Public Health Engineering and Urban Development etc. Distribution of bicycles, monthly honorarium to folk artistes and farmers, commencing the work for seed grooming centres and Krishak Mandi at various places in the state, a bus terminus at Kalyani, a ** ...
MAMATA MAY DO THE TANGO WITH MODI ( Agencies): For the Lok Sabha poll, the BJP is hardly a player in West Bengal. But the Chief Minister's tirade against UPA2 seems like a tacit expression of her preference for the BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate It’s a measure of Ms Mamata Banerjee’s political dexterity that no one knows which camp she will be aligned with for the Lok Sabha election. Perhaps she herself doesn’t know yet, for her choices are rooted in pragmatism and not principle, and the winning pattern has yet to emerge. But Mr Prakash Karat of the CPI(M) and Mr Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Minister of State for Railways who now heads the Congress’s West Bengal unit — both her deadly foes — accuse her of being in cahoots with Mr Narendra Modi. That doesn’t mean other choices are ruled out. She is probably dreaming of a national coalition dominated by her Trinamool Congress in which rival regional chiefs like Mr Nitish Kumar and Mr Naveen Patnaik can’t question her supremacy. Her W ...
Anna Hazare admires the simplicity of a Chief Minister. And it's not Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking to reporters in Delhi yesterday, the Gandhian activist said it is West Bengal's Mamata Banerjee who actually practices simplicity in public life. "I have faith in her (to lead the nation) because she is a Chief Minister but still wears slippers. She did not take a government bungalow. She lives in her father's small house. Her sari is simple, made of khadi. She walks for 8-10 km everyday visiting villages. Such people can improve the nation," the 76-year-old activist said. "And there are people who said we won't take bungalow or vehicle, then took them," he said in an apparent jibe at his former associate Mr Kejriwal. Mr Hazare went on to say Ms Banerjee has the potential to change the nation if she is made the Prime Minister. "I sent 17 points to every political party. The points if implemented will change the nation for good. Nobody responded. Only West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sent a reply. We ne ...
Left issues charge sheet against Mamata government * Accusing the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress regime in West Bengal of forcing an "Emergency-like situation" in the state, the opposition Left Front on Sunday issued a "charge sheet" against it alleging the Ruling Party had brought in only anarchy and dictatorship. We want to issue a charge sheet against the Trinamoool government. This present State Government doesn't have the constitutional right to implement Emergency in the state, but has forced in a similar situation," Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Surjya Kanta Mishra said while addressing a rally here. "The government led by the Chief Minister has brought in dictatorship and anarchy in the state. She always tries to evade the Assembly, specially the Question Hour, whenever the Opposition tries to ask questions," he said. Hinting at incarcerated Trinamool MP Kunal Ghosh for his alleged links with the Saradha group and its ponzi scheme, the CPI(M) Politburo member said the Trinamool has ...

Smt. Mamata Banerjee Founder & leader of All India Trinamool Congress, and the present Chief Minister of West Bengal share her feelings to her all 'BHAROTBASI':- "Today, I have come to see Amlasole in Paschim Medinipur, which was in the news for starvation deaths during the Left Front Government. Amlasole had long been marked by acute neglect, abject poverty, deprivation, Left Wing Extremism and backwardness. Now, with our persistent development efforts during the last two and half years, the situation has substantially improved. People now have food security. Today, I have laid bricks to start construction of Kankrajhore to Amlasole road to make it a ‘pucca’ all-weather road, connecting the remote village of Amlasole to the nearest concrete road. In a single initiative, construction of roads in all the 3349 gram panchayats all over the State have started today under 100 days work scheme. It is a great achievement that 16,000 kms of village road are being initiated on a single day. This sort of massiv ...
All Ministers and Govt officials to be in villages today for rural road network project January 07, 2014 West Bengal is all set to witness a unique movement - a brainchild of the Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee. `Didi`, as we all know her, has conceived a novel idea for developing village roads. Today, roads will be created in 35,000 villages across the state simultaneously. The Chief Minister herself will participate in this grand exercise by laying the foundation of a road in Amlashole, assisted by the locals. During Left Front rule, Amlashole made international headlines for starvation deaths; now, two-and-a-half-years after regime change in the state, the spectre has changed - the villagers get rice through the public distribution system at Rs 2 per kg, the village has got roads, and drinking water facilities have reached the people. Last month, Chief Minister had announced that her government was undertaking a unique initiative to develop rural connectivity, especially the farm-road network in al ...

THE HINDU PHOTO ARCHIVES A photograph from the 1967-69 period. Desai is being greeted by West Bengal Chief Minister Ajoy Mukherjee. At left is Kerala Chief Minister E.M.S. Namboodiripad. EACH generation has its own dominant image of Jyoti Basu. For an earlier generation than mine this image is of an intrepid fighter in the cause of the working class, an effective and unyielding “tribune of the people”, in the manner of Auguste Bebel, in the West Bengal legislature of the 1950s and 1960s. For a more recent generation than mine this dominant image is of a hig ...
MILANSAGAR strongly protests against the shabby, disrespectful and inhuman treatment meted out to octogenarian Prof. Sunanda Sanyal and others on 28th Nov 2013 at Salt Lake, by the West Bengal Police under the leadership of CM Smt Mamata Banerjee. He was a member of a group of protesters who wanted to submit a petition asking for the interrogation of all those named by arrested MP Sri. Kunal Ghosh in his post-arrest VDO, which included the Chief Minister herself. Sunanda Sanyal neither belongs to any political party nor can he be lured or purchased by any petty or mega pleasantries, awards or tittles. He is seen in this photograph addressing a meeting in Salt Lake, against the atrocities of the Previous Left Front Govt on 22nd December 2007, during the height of Singur & Nandigram Movement. Lest we forget, He is the man who was instrumental in shaping the opinion of the educated masses of West Bengal which tilted the election results in favour of Smt. Mamata Banerjee's party which enabled her to become t ...
Letters to the editor Arrest Kunal and suppress the truth SIR, The add-on item, “Kunal bombshell” by Arati Jerath (27 November) is brilliant. When news of the 2G spectrum scam broke, everybody was convinced that it couldn’t be the handiwork of a lone person ~ a certain A Raja. Despite the alleged involvement of Congress leaders, he was made the scapegoat and imprisoned. He couldn’t have committed such a huge scam without the active or tacit support of a couple of seasoned scamsters. Does the present West Bengal government want us to believe that only Kunal Ghosh and Sudipto Sen are responsible for the Saradha chit fund scam? Several big names, including that of the Chief Minister, are being mentioned. Mamata Banerjee is often regarded as the epitome of honesty. She must clear the air and not least allow a CBI probe ~ monitored by the Supreme Court. Otherwise, the arrest of Kunal Ghosh might be construed as an attempt to suppress the truth. The current scenario is unprecedented in the politica ...
Bishnupur temple complex to be developed into Heritage Tourism hub The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) is all set to develop Bishnupur temple complex in Kolkata, West Bengal as an international Heritage Tourism hub and project the exquisite terracotta work as one of the finest in the world. Already declared a 'World Heritage Centre' by UNESCO, Bishnupur, some 130 kms from Kolkata, can be the gateway to Bengal Heritage Tourism, feels the ASI top brass, as per a report by Krishnendu Bandyopadhyay in The Times of India. However, the biggest hurdle to this is the illegal and unplanned constructions around the protected site. Also, there is no pathway to link all 19 protected sites, ruling out an easy walking tour, which is a favourite with heritage tourists. Moreover, there is no conservation plan for at least four equally ancient and exquisite unprotected sites within the monument complex. "I strongly feel it is not too late to go for such a plan. Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee has been proactive in ...

In Kerala under the leadership of Syed Abdurahiman Bafakhy Thangal, K.M. Seethi Sahib; Panakkad P.M.S.A Pookoya Thangal and Syed Mohammed Ali Shihab Thangal it has become a main political player. The party in Kerala has had cabinet positions at various times in coalition Governments, holding portfolios like Education, Home, Industries, Public works, Local administration, Social welfare, Fisheries etc. During the beginning of seventies IUML had ministers in West Bengal also. Leading a contingent of seven MLAs in state assembly late A.K.A. Hassanussaman was the league representative in Ajoy Mukher ...
West Bengal waiting to explode West Bengal is sitting on a communal tinderbox with the Chief Minister under pressure from the minority community to run the State as per its wishes or face rout at the hustings, and incidents of confrontation between the two major communities rising steeply. Mamata Banerjee’s overt proximity with the minority community has made the police wary of taking action where required, even as a disproportionate number of cases are filed against members of the majority community, even when they are the aggrieved party. At the Eid namaz at Red Road on August 9, Maulana Qari Fazlur Rehman berated the Chief Minister for the rise of Hindu consolidation in villages and demanded she put an end to it. Mamata Banerjee, who was present on the occasion for the second consecutive year, was unpleasantly surprised when the Maulana accused her Government of failing to meet its promises to the minorities. The tradition of attending the Eid namaz despite not being a member of the community was beg ...
Doctors, retd judges line up at BJP office for LS ticket. With a pro-BJP air gaining ground, after Narendra Modi was named party's Prime Ministerial candidate, the party's West Bengal headquarters at Murlidhar Lane in central Kolkata is now witnessing a mad rush of people seeking tickets for Lok Sabha elections. For 42 Lok Sabha seats in state, 230 people — eight of them Muslims — have sent applications seeking to be named a BJP nominee. Incidentally, these individuals are apart from the party members whose names will be soon proposed by the BJP's district offices. In 2009, altogether 70 people applied for BJP ticket. However, the party, which garnered 26 lakh votes, could not win a single seat. The last time the party won two Lok Sabha seats was in 1999 when it won from Dum Dum and Krishnanagar constituencies. This time the party has set a target of at least five LS seats and 15 per cent of vote share from the state. "People have understood that (Chief Minister) Mamata Banerjee cannot give them the a ...

Mamata imposes ban on export of vegetables to other states: Concerned with steep hike in prices of vegetables in the state, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today imposed a ban on the export of vegetables and potato to other states. "Transportation of vegetables from West Bengal to other states will not be allowed until prices return to a comfortable level," Banerjee told reporters after reviewing the situation at a meeting of the task force on the issue. The meeting was also attended, among others, by city Police Commissioner Surojit Kar Purokayastha and Director General of Police G M P Reddy, besides secretaries and senior officials of related departments. "Some unscrupulous traders are increasing prices of vegetables and fish at their own will, giving an excuse of flood and rains. I won't tolerate this any more. Stern steps will be taken immediately," the Chief Minister said. Banerjee further said she had directed the police, enforcement branch and her entire administration to keep tab on the ...
West Bengal and Darjeeling are inseparable: Mamata Banerjee Darjeeling: In a strong message to the GJM, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that West Bengal and Darjeeling were inseparable. "Darjeeling is the heart of Bengal. I am not against anyone. I am with the people of the hills. It is the motherland. Bengal cannot stay without you, nor can you stay without us," Banerjee told the first rally in the hills of the ruling Trinamool Congress at the Mall here. Without naming the GJM which has recently backtracked from its politics of shutdowns and violence to demand Gorkhaland, the Banerjee said her government would not allow disruption of normal life in the name of bandhs which, hindered peace and development. "My government's policy is that there should be no bandhs and strikes," the Chief Minister said pointing out that there was also a court order against it. "If there are only bandhs, how can development take place? If Kanchenjunga smiles I feel great. But if Kanchenjunga cries, then I fee ...

Constitutional order in West Bengal is facing a severe challenge by the actions and utterances of the State Government and TMC leaders. MPs and Ministers are directly encouraging lawlessness and even provoking violence against Election Commission and Election Commissioner. Even the Chief Minister is speaking the language of the gutter and issuing threats against all who are not reconciled to her politics and style of functioning.
We, who are opposing fascist Trinamool Congress ,have been subjected to threat , intimidation and physical abuse time and again and our repeated pleas to administration and police have fallen on deaf ears . Now, the goons of the Ruling Party some of them ministers , members of parliament or assembly including the Chief Minister have been threatening the State Election Commission urging the faithful to take " BADLA " on the Election Commission . "We have given instructions to close the two companies in 24 hours and we are keeping an eye on other such companies," the Chief Minister told reporters on Tuesday in the Assembly lobby after her speech in the House during the passage of the new investors' interest protection bill. The two companies are among the 73 which are under the scanner of the Corporate Affairs Ministry. In her thanksgiving speech after the passage of the West Bengal Protection of Interest of Depositors in Financial Establishment Bill, 2013 in the House on Tuesday, Mamata said the State Government was studying the list of 73 rogue financial companies given by the Centre. Stating that the new bill was a timely step, the Chief Minister claimed the day woul ...
When will this Jungle Raj stop in West Bengal ?? There is total collapse in the administration, law and order in this State! The political parties in Government and opposition have failed to take any corrective measures to contain the violence which haserrupted throughout rural Bengal. The Panchayat Election is just an excuse- the hoodlums are settling scores using the TMC banner! What is surprising is that the Chief Minister who also happens to be the Home/Police Minister is making political statements standing at Writers and I must say her statements are inane and makes no sense to the common man who is suffering in the hands of hooligans! It is high time that the CM wake up and realise that she is responsible for all citizens irrespective of caste, creed, religion and political affiliation. She has to protect all! Why Mamata Banerjee can't take young CPM and Congress and BJP supporters as her sons and daughters ? As a Chief Minister of West Bengal she can create an example by showing her motherly role . Why Bhuddadev Bhattacharjee also not shown fatherly attitude to the supporters of TMC ,Congress and other opposition parties in his regime ? What is the obstacle ? In democracy some people may oppose you but for this reason permanent enmity is not expected . Let us declare war against "Enmity Philosophy " and give attention to build New India and New Wold .

Narendra Modi, THE FUTURE Prime Minister OF INDIA, IS AN ICON OF RESURGENT INDIA... After playing a hat trick in Gujarat elections, Narendra Modi’s stock has considerably gone up and he has emerged as the most dominant, dynamic and charismatic national leader. His election as Chief Minister of Gujarat has also exposed the diabolical designs of deadly combination of Leftist-Islamic fundamentalist axis, anti-Hindu and anti-national forces; and has emboldened patriotic forces all over India. The entire national political landscape has been completely transformed. He is held in high esteem all over India. This election has proved beyond any shadow of doubt that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are no match for Narendra Modi, the Man with Capital “M”. Narendra Modi is considered as an icon of resurgent India. He is an epitome of vigor and vitality. He has created confidence and respectability in the mind of an average Indian about his glorious past which had been designated as a dirty word in the lexicon of ...

This is how the Chief Minister of West Bengal reached the 600 odd audiences gathering in the Town Hall for the annual general meeting of the Association on 2 February. Many people not only in West Bengal and in other Indian States but even in other countries are wondering how a criminal could throw a bomb in the presence of armed policemen ? Any other place in the world , that goon would have been shot dead by policemen but at Garden Reach , the armed policemen did not even try to take that goon into custody even after one Officer of Kolkata Police was shot dead by another goon . Even Senior IPS officers , I spoke to in the past 2 days are wondering how the police in West Bengal suddenly became impotent ? I asked the Senior IPS Officer , I was talking to yesterday , would he have done something different ? He was speechless for a few minutes and then answered , " NO ". Only fools and *** like me expect the Police to act and ensure safety and security of citizens when they can not ensure the security of their own Officer ! How can the Police act against goons when our beloved Chief Minister openly bragged about " controlling goondas !" Which Police Officer wants to be .. ...
The All India Trinamool Congress is a sub-national state-level ruling political party in West Bengal. Founded on January 1, 1998, the party was led by Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee. It is currently the sixth largest party in Lok Sabha with 19 seats.
Cool: Earlier I did not appreciate the use of the word/expression "Cool", especially because I seem to associate "Cool" with nonchalant and indifferent approach/attitude. In the context of the present hyper sensitive and hyper tensed situation in West Bengal with competitive verbal abuse/utterances and intolerance and antagonism, I have started to like being "Cool". We all should be and our Chief Minister should take the lead. It would cool town temper.
Just heard that our Chief Minister lost her cool at the Kolkata Book fair today and shouted at her Security Offecer- Mr. Dwivedi, who has been given many a certificate for doing a good job! The CM told Mr Dwivedi that 'apnake chapkano ujit'!!! The CM has been making too many costly mistakes, but this one is too costly for the CM!!! If the CM has a problem - she should be treated! We will pray for her. But, we cannot sacrifice the State of West Bengal for a person who is mentally unsound!!

At the Government program held at Chowrasta, Darjeeling on 29th January 2013 the Chief Minister of West Bengal threatened those present and demanding separate state of Gorkhaland, saying - " I am rough and tough". This utterance is highly objectionable and has humiliated all Gorkhas in India. We demand Chief Minister must withdraw this "utterance". How can Chief Minister of Ma, mati and manush be "rough and tough" with those demanding something under the Constitution of India.
Mera Bharat Mahaan - NOT. If my state [West Bengal] government is to ban authors like Salman Rushdie from my erstwhile liberal and art loving state, then bloody *** I don't know how they're going to stomach a campaign which will challenge age-old notions of sex, sexuality, equality, liberalism and democracy. Democracy looks to be one big fat lie right now. Ashamed of being a citizen of Calcutta. Not too proud of being Indian. Very VERY disappointed in the Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee.

After remaining with the INC for over 2 decades, Mamata Banerjee formed her own party, the "Trinamool Congress", which was registered with the Election Commission of India during mid-December, 1997. The Election Commission alloted to the party an exclusive symbol of Jora Ghas Phul. She entered into an alliance with the BJP in 1999. Performance in elections In the 1998 Lok Sabha polls, TMC won 7 seats.[5] In the next Lok Sabha election that was held in 1999, Trinamool Congress won 8 seats with BJP, thus increasing its tally by one.[6] In 2000, TMC won the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Elections. Dear CM of West Bengal , You are requested to use sober language in public and speak like a Chief Minister. I feel ashamed of you.
Declaration of Emergency The Government cited threats to national security, as a war with Pakistan had recently been concluded. Due to the war and additional challenges of drought and the 1973 oil crisis, the economy was in bad shape. The Government claimed that the strikes and protests had paralyzed the government and hurt the economy of the country greatly. In the face of massive political opposition, desertion and disorder across the country and the party, Gandhi stuck to the advice of a few close party loyalists and her younger son Sanjay Gandhi, who had become the De-facto ruler . Siddhartha Shankar Ray, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, proposed to Ms. Gandhi the imposition of "internal emergency". He drafted a letter for the President to issue the proclamation on the basis of information Ms. Gandhi had received that "there is an imminent danger to the security of India being threatened by internal disturbances". He showed how democratic freedom could be suspended while remaining within the ambit o ...
In a country where the Chief Minister can threaten the Prime Minister of the Country with physical violence, where the Fourth pillar of Democracy is threatened with violence , it is natural that State ministers like Madan Mitra / Jyotirpriyo Mullick or Subhendu Adhikay,MP will threaten CPIM and Congress with physical violence . Democracy in West Bengal is in peril , Situation calls for urgent intervention by the Supreme Court of India .
Today is Jyoti Basu's death anniversary. Basu was a towering Marxist leader who led West Bengal state of India for years as Chief Minister. One of his important legacies were the fact that he saved the Sikh community within his own province with strong resolve during 1984 anti Sikh pogrom which was engineered by the so called secular Congress party across India. Basu was a die hard opponent of religious fanaticism and remained a vocal critic of Hindu nationalist BJP throughout his life. Incidentally, I was in Kolkata when he was struggling for life in 2010. I had an opportunity to visit the hospital where he was undergoing treatment for illness. Incidentally, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachan also walked in to visit the ailing leader. As he left a big crowd of fans cheered at him. Some tried to mob him for pictures. I was telling myself why people should rejoice an actor who is known as angry young man, who is only good to show his anger on screen and not in the real life? Bachan not only became a Congress MP ...

On this day, in 2010, we lost the greatest politician ever and the best Chief Minister, West Bengal ever had- Comrade Jyoti Basu. Lal Salam!
Some people are getting upset with me for saying BENGAL LEADS in lootraj . How else can I describe the situation in Bengal when this morning Chief Minister's closest confidante , Shuvaprassana , who was allotted 121 cottahs ( little over 2 acres ) of prime land by the State of West Bengal in Rajarhat for setting up an Art School , registered the land and in the process disclosed that the prime land has been allotted to him by the Govt at a price of Rs.15 lacs ( Market Value over Rs.6 crs ) out of which Rs.3 lacs already paid to the Govt and the balance Rs.12 lacs to be paid in instalments over the next 30 years ! If this is not loot and molestation of the exchequor then what else is this ? This is not the only thing as I found out last week during a visit to Shantiniketan . SSDA had set up a resort deep inside Sonajuri Forest , called MAHARSHI with local women's Self Help Group with over 100 tribal and non-tribal women from adjacent villages as members in the early days of this millenium .While SSDA remai ...
Mamata Banerjee is giving full license to the corporates to grab land and there is also assurance from the government that if those bloody anti-development farmers or disgusting poor people come in the way of the wonderful corporates setting up their heavenly companies, the authorities will help, with police, presumably. But still, the corporates and other sections of the ruling classes like CPM party and its leader Surja Kanta Misra, the party which did such a marvelous job of serving the corporates and capitalism in West Bengal, are complaining...they want greater assurance from Mamata Banerjee... Why doesn't she ensure an accompanying CRPF battalion with the companies when they acquire the land - perhaps that's what they are wondering. Really, Chief Minister, why not use that option? Uh, but she is thinking of the next election! Right - so let's leave it to the corporates to do the needful and then she can simply "Avoid political golmal" as she says. Because even if the genocide committed by the truste ...

Well done! Keep the flag flying high! Amongst all Indian States, West Bengal leads in per capita violence against women, leaving UP a distant 2nd. Search Google "Violence Against Women in India 2010 Statistics" & see the statistics. Bengal, once the safest place for a woman, even during the Naxalite uprising in the 70s, is today, with a woman clown as Chief Minister, one of the unsafest places in the country. Is Mamta Banerjee's government in control? This horrific crime incident should wake her up and make her do something drastically to ensure that the law and order situation can at-least protect the citizens. Without fear or hesitation in their mind, people have committed this crime - raping a woman and tortured and putting acid in the mouth of woman's husband who has come to rescue his helpless wife. Who has given them this courage to commit crime? Who is their protectors? It is the duty of the West Bengal State Government to investigate and award suitable punishment to all the seven criminals who com ...
Insensitive remarks add to India's rape shame Politician calls anti-rape protesters "dented and painted women" in latest sexist remark to offend Indians. India boasts some powerful female politicians but women in the world's largest democracy are often subjected to taunts, insults and sexist remarks both on the streets and by powerful male politicians. A wave of protests aimed at ending crimes against women have swept the country in the past fortnight, but demonstrations have not stopped some of India’s male politicians from continuing to make tasteless remarks. Abhijit Mukherjee, the president’s son and a Member of the Indian Parliament, dismissed the current anti-rape protesters in the capital Delhi calling them “dented and painted women” who frequented discos, implying that the protests smacked of tokenism. On Christmas day, a senior West Bengal state Communist leader, Anisur Rahman, shocked many with his indecent comments against the state's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Chief Minister h ...

Ajit Singh asks CMs to reduce jet fuel taxes In an attempt to bring down operating cost of airlines, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh today asked Chief Ministers of states to reduce taxes on aviation fuel. "We have written to Chief Ministers several times on the issue, but they are all worried about their fiscal problems," Singh said on the sidelines of PanIIT Alumni Meet here. While Chattisgarh was the only state to have reduced aviation fuel taxes by four per cent, Maharastra had publicly announced that it would consider reducing it, Singh said. ATF (aviation turbine fuel) taxes in New Delhi stands at 20 per cent, in Maharastra 25 per cent and in West Bengal it is 29 per cent. Due to lukewarm responses from a majority of State Governments in reducing ATF tax, the Centre has agreed to bring the pricing of jet fuel under the oil regulator. The move is aimed at accountability and reducing costs for airlines, which accounts for nearly 50 per cent of domestic airlines costs. Taxes on aviation fuel are repo ...

The " workaholic " , Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Banerjee has declared State sponsored lock-out , sorry paid holiday for the first time in the history of the State on the occassion of BHAI PHONTA . CHAT PUJA, BUDDHA JAYANTI & MAHAVIR JAYANTI, all falling in November . May be the CM will be too tired after her pro-active role in the Film Festival in the Co of Paglu Dancer Dev & Shah Rukh Khan, June Maliya and a few little known or unknown Bengali film personalities & she needs rest but why declare a lock-out in the State ? This comes close on the heels of a 10 day holiday in the State offices in the last week of October . Nothing can happen to this State & the Govt is just not keen on governance !
Mrs. Mamata Banerjee, What is this happening in Kolkata?? Cow slaughtering is done openly. You and your police is doing nothing about it. Are you scared of these people?? After such a happy and great celebration of Durga Puja such thing of slaughtering openly on road is happening and you are quiet! We thought so much good about you and voted for you and even encouraged others to vote for you. But now we are feeling guilty about the decision of voting for you. No other Chief Minister of West Bengal did this. Is the hunger of ruling the state more than your Religion and Humanity. We appreciated your personality, speech and many other things but this is unacceptable. I lodged police complaints even and your police did not take any action. If still any Hindutva left then take action immediately and stop it.

A specter is HAUNTING WEST BENGAL - While Mamata Banerjee still holds a pro people image and mentality , the TMC party and the Govt in West Bengal is fast becoming an anti -people body with Rapes, Murders , dacoities, attack on professors , students, journalists , threatening of people by goondas , and with no clear cut honest policy of governance. The State is witnessing a dark phase. The Hijjab Politics - which is a half hearted approach, towards Muslim problems in the State , has well been pointed out by a senior IPS officer of the State-( Dr Najrul Islam) While nothing constructive has been done , the colouing of Kolkata with blue and white , is an attempt to show that work is going on .The State has not only failed to utilize the grants given by the Centre on specified heads , and but has most illegally used the funds allocated on a particular head on another altogether different head without giving the accounts -to the centre . New Delhi: Hours before Mamata Banerjee meets her party leaders to make what she described over the weekend as "hard decisions," her party has listed three plans of action that it is considering in retaliation for the government's decision to hike diesel prices, limit subsidised cooking gas cylinders for families, and open up the country's retail sector to foreign investors. "There could be a pull-out of ministers from the UPA, there could be withdrawal of support from the government or ministers will not attend office," said Sultan Ahmed to Press Trust of India today. Mr Ahmed is one of six ministers from Ms Banerjee's party in Delhi. To pacify her, the government may increase the number of subsidised cooking gas cylinders that households are entitled to. Sources say the Prime Minister is likely to reach out to Ms Banerjee today, in an attempt to persuade her to remain in his coalition government. Ms Banerjee, who is the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has 19 Lok Sabha MPs, making her the second-largest p ...

Chief Minister of West Bengal need not to announce only instead of announcing need to do it practically for the people of Bengal now
A survey report compiled by Center for Environmental Protection and Rural Development (CEPARD). Migration from the erstwhile East Bengal/East Pakistan and the present day Bangladesh to eastern and north-eastern parts of India has been an ongoing phenomenon. Only after the partition of India in 1947, following which political boundaries changed, has this age-old tradition became ‘illegal’. In the aftermath of partition, several lakh Hindus fled from East Pakistan for India to escape communal violence. This was also seen during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. In 1965, the then Chief Minister of Assam claimed that over one million “illegal Pakistani infiltrators” had entered eastern India between 1951 and 1961, and of which 220,961 were in Assam, 459,494 in West Bengal, 297,857 in Bihar and 55,403 in Tripura. Again, thousands of Chakmas and Hajongs fled to India following the construction of the Kaptai hydroelectric dam and the ethnic conflict in Chittagong Hill Tracts during the 1970s and ...
Why Odias accommodate non-Odia-speaking Naveen By: Dr.Sasmit Patra. American physician, poet and professor Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow.” According to writer Rita Mae Brown, “Language is the roadmap of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.” Former South African President Nelson Mandela also talked of language, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, it goes to his heart.” For past centuries, successive Indian kings and queens patronised the indigenous languages of their respective states or kingdoms. They also felt like the non-Indians that language is the soul of a culture. It is the responsibility of the indigenous ruler of the respective state to popularise and propagate the local language. But in Odisha we beg to differ, gladly. We in Odisha have Naveen Patnaik as our Chief Minister who has rul ...
West Bengal Congress President Prof. Pradip Bhattacharya strongly condemns the anti-constitutional remarks made the Chief Minister of Bengal Ms. Mamata Banerjee on the sacred floor of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. He said: “The Chief Minister is under oath to protect the Indian Constitution. Instead she castigated the Judiciary as “Corrupt” – and instigated people not to have trust on judiciary. Indian Constitution is one of the greatest systems of democratic governance – which have passed through test of time during last 65 years. The Constitution has three pillars of strength – Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. All three have their respective duties and mutual respect for the others. Ms. Banerjee is part of the Legislature. And as the Chief Minister she is the head of the Executive in the State. Her blatant remark against the judiciary as a whole is a clear sign of un-constitutional element in her approach.” Further Prof. Bhattacharya observes that: “When she said that “jus ...
The intra-struggle between the Maoists shows the benkrupcy of the terrorist outfits in the name of communism. Having guns in hand and hiding in jungles is not the class struggle, which they propogate. Another so-called Maoist names Kisanjee - who had declared that he wants to see Mamata Banerjee as the Chief Minister of West Bengal; had to be killed by the same Mamata Banerjee after she became the CM of Bengal. This is the hallowness of their so called ideology.

The Minister is surely in support of illegal saw mills. will the HONEST Chief Minister remove this Minister or reinstate the Chief Conservator and allow him to work without wrongful interference in violation of orders of the Apex Court or prove they are as bad as CPIM.

Leader of a regional party and Chief Minister of West Bengal invited an International Personality (and one of the greatest International, prestigious face of India), SRI Vishwanathan Anand for feciliation. He came to Kolkata breaking his very busy schedule and found that on that pre-scheduled day, the host i.e. the CM of West Bengal enjoying the beauty of North Bengal. No one knows our Sports Mnister outside Kolkata and there was no eminent players/ex.-players on the stage. Sports Minster could not arrange Netaji Indoor Stadium for this noble purpose, but he can let it be used for TMC conference. Do you think that this has enhanced the prestige of West Bengal as well as Sri ANAND?

After Mamata became Chief Minister in West Bengal, she stopped Tata to start his plant operation to set up a factory at Singur as per Singur Act 2011. Trial court in September gave the verdict in favour of West Bengal Govt. Tata appealed against the verdict in High Court. Division Bench of Calcutta High Court gave ruling in favour of Tata. Now 1 : 1. Both wins each round. Final round will be played at Supreme Court. Will farmers get their due share from this battle? Tata motors successfully got 997 acres on lease from previous Bengal Govt ruled by communists. Is it justifiable for one to have such huge Land Bank to start one industry? Anything above 200 acres are utter waste. These corporate houses are sucking the bloods of hard working farmers and peoples in India.

Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee (front-L), along with Shah Rukh Khan, owner of IPL cricket team...
the felicitation ceremony at the Eden Gardens turned into a political show as Mamata took the centrestage, relegating the cricketers to the background. Mamatas crowd management was on grand display as several thousand frenzied fans lined up Kolkata roads and the Eden Gardens as the KKR players were felicitated by the Chief Minister. The IPL trophy was seen in the hands of KKR co-owner and Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Mamata more than in the hands of the players, who actually won the cup. Mamata and Shah Rukh turned into event managers at the Eden Gardens, asking the crowd to behave, directing the police officers and also directing the media and press photographers. Mamata not only felicitated the players but also team owners Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla alongwith the team officials, and hastily presented them with bouquets and scarves. After that Shah Rukh Khan stormed the stage and said, "Thank you Didi (and) Kolkata for the celebrations". The KKR players were presented with gifts by the West Benga ...
New Delhi: On Friday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called Presidency University student Taniya Bhardwaj a CPI(M) cadre and a Maoist for asking a question about the conduct of senior state ministers and officials over crimes against women. The question was asked at an open house session with the Chief Minister, conducted by CNN-IBN to mark one year of the Trinamool Congress's coming to power in West Bengal. An angry Banerjee castigated the audience for asking 'CPI(M) questions' and 'Maoist questions' and stormed out, refusing to participate further. Taniya Bhardwaj writes an open letter to Mamata Banerjee. Dear 'Simple Man', On being asked a simple question, you acquired a complicated avatar. We all went to the CNN-IBN question-answer session on Friday, May 18, at the Town Hall expecting to hear some heated exchanges, but it got too hot to handle. You, the most important person in West Bengal, labelled me and the rest of the audience 'Maoist and CPM cadres'. What exactly did we do to deserve ...

With this post we started this Wall in March'12, today is nearly end of May, our fight is still on Our journey so far: We the employees of NSN Kolkata Factory are facing serious threat of losing our jobs soon. NSN ‘s CEO Mr Rajeev Suri has already announced about 17000 job cuts worldwide. NSN Union in Germany has already come on the streets of Munich. The German Government is supporting them. We must say the new government in West Bengal also has taken up our cause very promptly and sympathetically. While the Government is in talks with Siemens and Nokia Siemens, we seek your good wishes and blessings to save our jobs. With average age of 40 years of the employees and telecom market in India under scanner for various scams etc., things are not very favourable for us from 2007 when Nokia and Siemens decided to create this joint venture. For some reason NSN had decided to invest heavily in a new factory in Chennai and not in the already running factory which they inherited from Siemens’ side due to this ...
Silence, please! Tuesday, May 22, 2012, 17:51 3012 17 A year back, hopes ran high in many hearts in West Bengal. Now, they have been wrung dry. The state has been reduced to one woman and her atrocious ways. There’s no questioning her, there’s no suggesting her, and there’s no criticising her. Althusser’s theoretical and Didi’s practical Repressive State Apparatuses transform that fact into reality. Mamata Banerjee had taken up the post of the Chief Minister, thanks to the people of West Bengal. The question now remains – have we created a Frankenstein’s Monster? The recent case in point – the Chief Minister of a State storming out of a TV show, thanks to a few questions – probably sheds more light on the scenario of West Bengal than is warranted. Ironic that Mamata Banerjee left the studio due to a question that was asked to her – on a show that was titled ‘Question Time’. Couldn’t have been more apt. There’s one thing that’s for certain. The woman is going nowhere for th ...

I am sharing an Article in the TIMES OF INDIA- with an APPEAL to the Hon'ble Chief Minister , Govt Of West Bengal , India - to stop illicit Massage parlours , Escort Services , which are nothing but Prostitution Rackets - that are thriving in Kolkata , ( where many are involved, and it is a real difficult task to stop it ) and other parts of Bengal . The Article by Shri Chaudhuri in the times of India reads as - Book an escort for 25k? We're waiting outside a South Kolkata cinema, when a high-end car smoothly comes to a halt. "I am here. Get inside," says the 30-something man in the driver's seat. ..The First Anniversary of the Poriborton in West Bengal is a witness to a semi-dictatorial act from the Chief Minister of the State!!(end)
Today, in our state, West Bengal, 14 eminent personalities of excellence have been honoured with the title BANGABIBHUSHAN & 3 with the title BANGABHUSHAN by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Mis Mamata Banerjee. Is there anyone left for the coming years? Our dear C.M. likes to finish 5 years' job only in a single year, indeed ! Ha Ha Ha... Plz, don misinterpret me.
Tanya Bharajddaj is our pride and Mamata Banerjee is our disgrace. I knew Mamata Banerjee for a long time as a very greedy lady without any moral standard. She is a very self-centered lady, would bluff, lie, and cheat to achieve her objectives. Greed (for power) was all along the driving force in her life and bluff was her political philosophy. When she became the Chief Minister of West Bengal, I thought Bengal will soon become a very backward state. Tanya today stood as a tower of strength to show Mamata and her cronies of the dark that Bengal is a different place.
Step 1) I am going to get business cards made up. "Dubash, West Bengal, Chief Minister of the Government in Exile." Step 2) Rabindrasangeet.
Two news items in the front page of today's "The Hindu" pained me a lot. One, the government of Andhra Pradesh appoints a DG for the Anti Corruption Bureau clipping the wings of the existing outspoken and sincere chief. Second, Mamata Banerjee walks out of an interview and threatens the questioners just because she was asked questions that were uneasy for her to answer. Where is sincerity in the government's so called efforts to clean up corruption? And why is the Chief Minister of West Bengal so arrogant and intolerant?
An Open Letter to Mamata Banerjee d intolerant Chief Minister of West Bengal
This is regarding the CNN-IBN's yesterday exclusive interactive live interview with Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal.Mamata madam has walked out of the interview after a certain point because all those were present in the Town Hall are from the top of the social hierarchy, those are Babus of kolkata and enjoy life in the pubs with hard drinks at park street.I have a very simple question to CNN-IBN:-why no Dalit,Muslim, poor, peasant and working class men and women from the districts were not invited or permitted to enter into the show? All those faces were seen in the program are clearly the Neo-maoists and Neo-marxists 21st century youngsters.I advice the journalists to get properly educated and know the ground reality rather than being agent of the corporate houses. As far as Mamata Banerjee's issue is concerned all i wanna say is that she is an world class leader, recognized by the peoples not by the media houses. So urban based Brahminical Indian media has no moral right to comment or interview Mamata,w ...

She will lead the Bengal in the front pace in every respect. She is Mamata Banerjee, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal.
Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee is an Icon for India. She always has been trying to innovate something new.
There is a deep conspiracy against the govt. of West Bengal. Specific news regarding the govt. and the Chief Minister are chosen for publication so that anti-govt. criticism is facilitated. Positive and constructive performance is not intentionally publicized in the national news media. Nira Radhia episode has exposed the indirect operators of Indian politics and economy. The clandestine operators would prefer a weak and inexperienced person as the President of India. If Pranab Mukherjee become President, then it would be the result of accident, not incident. Mamata Banerjee is a disliked figure to the behind-the-scene operators for her opposition to SEZ and other reforms. They fear honest politicians like Miss Banerjee.

TO TMCP SUPPORTERS. Mamata Banerjee is her own worst enemy. After single handedly dislodging the Left from power and becoming Chief Minister of West Bengal, she’s at war with herself. Her impetuosity is a proof that good agitators do not necessarily make good administrators.
Until recently, I considered our PM as the best rubbish speaking leader. But God thought otherwise and then Mamata became the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Now I know ‘The Best’ landed on the west side of the border. She is starting a new TV channel just to broadcast her rubbish speeches throughout West Bengal. Mamata’s TV can get some idea and training from BTV, the best bootlicking TV channel ever.

In last 35 years I never have seen any policeman at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. Even for several times I had seen the earlier Chief Minister of West Bengal Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattacharyya was sitting at the front row amongst us enjoying the play and there was no policeman in and around. But on last Saturday afternoon when I went to see a play at this favorite hangout of mine, surprisingly I noticed that so many policemen were patrolling there. Can anybody please confirm me whether our cultural activities are already under police surveillance ?
