The names we grew up with…. I can only send this to people our age, since today's younger generations don't have any idea who these Men were and that's a pity. Walter Matthau looks as if he'd be such glorious fun in and out of bed and wouldn't mind if you ate ice-cream after the love act.
Walter Matthau, Jack Lemmon - perfect here but even better as Hildy Johnson and Walter Burns in The Front Page. Classic ensemble.
Walter Matthau's wife always said she married him because she loved going to bed with him, I totally get that.
But with all due respect to Jack Lemmon, I think people have been as good say Kevin Spacey. But Walter Matthau was one of a kind
I find myself watching "The Odd Couple" mainly because , unlikely sex-symbol, Walter Matthau is at his peak sexiness in it.

I used to dream of movies, but reality TV happened instead. Probably best, as first try was a Rupaul/Walter Matthau inspired vampire comedy.

watching Walter Matthau play such a character against type is jaw dropping. Words cannot describe it; maybe the best example ever in film.

The first thing Scott Burdett ever said to me, as I politely offered up my services as a t-shirt designer, involved a very graphic joke about his balls. Yes - his *** I pretended not to hear what he said and continued my pitch. It was the mid 80s, and Scott ran Island Water Sports, a Va Beach satellite franchise of a Florida chain of surf shops. A retail box in an old firehouse, serving French Canadian tourists, kooks in search of t-shirts, and a small group of regulars. Scott was the chain smoking, wise cracking, Walter Matthau-esque steward of this red headed stepchild of the VB surf scene. He was once at the top of his game as a rep for industry behemoth Lightning Bolt, before they went the way of a Malaysia Airways flight, with six figures of his commissions onboard. With nowhere to go, and not wanting to give any more blood to the California legal system in his attempts to collect, Scott decided on a sentence sitting behind the wheel at IWS. After pleading my case, in between his jokes, as to ...

Ordinarily I would put this on a movie forum - but we had quite a lively discussion of the "Kolchak, the Nightstalker" series here. It looks like director Edgar Wright has been developing Kolchak as a Johnny Depp vehicle. Now, I think Depp is an amazing talent and have enjoyed most of his work - but I don't see him as Kolchak. Comments? Who would you cast in a Kolchak reboot? What follows is my own preference: Kolchak: Tim Allen (with some coaching. Get him a video of "The Front Page" w/ Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.) Vincenzo: Al Pacino (Nobody raises the roof in self-righteous anger like Pacino!) Updike: Kevin Klien (with moustache) Essentially decent but antagonistic, sometimes wrong-headed police captain of the week (James Gregory/Keenan Wynn/Scott Brady's part:) Chuck Norris. What do you think - hit or horror?

Acc to leaflet, our Labour candidate. But is it really a) Walter Matthau, or b) Mark Kermode back from the future?
I think Walter Matthau turns over in his grave every time the Bad News Bears remake with Billy Bob Thornton is broadcast.
Jack Klugman was Walter Matthau's Odd Couple replacement on Broadway, so literally the 2 best Oscars are the first 2 guys to play the part.
Premiered: May 1968 The Odd Couple is a 1968 American comedy film written by Neil Simon, based on his play The Odd Couple, directed by Gene Saks, and starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. It is the story of two divorced men – Felix Ungar, the neurotic neat-freak, and Oscar Madison, the fun-loving slob – who decide to live together, even though their personalities clash.
No matter what Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau perform in whether it's The Odd Couple, Grumpy Old Men, Grumpier Old Men etc., it's sure to be funny.

Oh my, is playing the original Bad News Bears with Walter Matthau. Not the knock-off BNB with William Devane.
Here is an incredibly realistic computer rendering of a model made to look like Robert DeNiro. I swear, someone just needs to learn how to model the voice and vocal stylings of celebrities, and studios will be licensing rights to use the likenesses of celebrities into perpetuity. Halogram Tupac was just the beginning. They could make Grumpy Old Men 3 with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
"Grumpy Old Men" should be an Easter tradition. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau were splendid together, and Burgess Meredith, portraying Lemmon's 94-year-old father, was hysterical. LEMMON: "Somebody moved into the old Kleckner place -- a woman." MEREDITH: "A woman? Did you mount her?" This is one of my favorite movies.
I’m a young man compared to you like Jack Lemmon was young compared to Walter Matthau.

Watching one of the Best movies ever made Best Comedy Duo in History Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau.
Ever been to a Hollywood movie premiere? I did. At The Chinese Theater in 1974 "EARTHQUAKE" in SENSOROUND! It was cool. There were speakers under the seats and when a "tremblor" (or the spectacular LONG "big shock") hit, you could feel it, it was loud even the big chandeliers inside swayed a bit! Women were screaming in the theater! It was great. The first ensemble disaster movie and we saw the cast there! Charlton Heston, Ava Gardner, George Kennedy, Lorne Greene, Geneviève Bujold, Richard Roundtree, Victoria Principal, Walter Matthau. It won 2 oscars for(of course) Best Sound Mixing & a Special Achievement for Special Effects. Music by JOHN WILLIAMS got a nomination.

It will be a black version of the film, directed by John Singleton (Boyz in the Hood, Poetic Justice, Shaft [2000]) from a Quentin Tarantino & Neil Simon screenplay. The film will also star Samuel L. Jackson as Murray the Cop, Meagan Good, and Gabrielle Union, and a "cameo" by the Tupac hologram.

TODAY'S CUTE 60s CHICK: Ewa Aulin... Swedish actress who appeared in a number of Italian and some American films in the 1960s and 1970s. Watching "Grumpy Old Men" with Catlin. She trying to decide if I'm Jack Lemon or Walter Matthau. Ha ha!
During the filming of HELLO, DOLLY! in 1968, Barbra Streisand gathered the cast and crew together and told them that her baby son, Jason Gould would be a frequent visitor on the set and instructed them to not talk baby-talk to him at any time. That was too good for co-star Walter Matthau. As soon as he spotted Jason with his mother, he rushed over to them and asked him, "Do you wanna make poo-poo, Jason?" Barbra was furious but there was little she could do except keep them far apart. :-)

Huge Selection of Jackets at Low Prices
Did you know... ... that today is The Odd Couple Day? In 1965, Walter Matthau and Art Carney opened in The Odd Couple, one of Neil Simon's greatest theatrical triumphs. It would also become a hit on television, with Tony Randall playing the tidy Felix Ungar and Jack Klugman as slovenly sportswriter, Oscar Madison. The play opened at the Plymouth Theatre in New York City. Celebrate today by doing something odd! Or not... ;-)

Watched the film M*A*S*H last night. Great! It struck me seeing it again how much better Elliot Gould and Donald Sutherland were compared to Alan Alda and Wayne Rogers. Also got me thinking about how much better Jack Lemon and Walter Matthau were compared to Tony Randall and Jack Klugman. IMHO, of course.

Edward Mulhare's Obituary. Edward Mulhare; TV, Film, Stage Actor By Mack Reed Los Angeles Times, May 25, 1997 Edward Mulhare, the lanky Irish character actor best known as the begrudging specter in television's "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir," died Saturday at home in Van Nuys after a five-month battle with long cancer. He was 74. Mulhare left behind a rich resume well peppered with credits from stage, screen and TV, ranging from his turn on a London stage opposite Orson Welles' Othello to his recent work with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in "Out to Sea" due in theaters this July. He played in musicals, road shows and TV series, switching readily from the haughty pomp of professor Henry Higgins as the first replacement for Rex Harrison in "My Fair Lady" to a variety of roles in early television dramas such as "Studio One" and "Kraft Theater." "He was brilliant to the end," said spokeswoman and longtime friends Pegge Forrest. "That wit and humor and intelligence went just to the last minute. He was waking up f ...

This post will most likely be of interest only to fans of The Walking Dead. Tonight, on the fiftieth anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, I watched the Oliver Stone film JFK. Although the film contains a great many movie stars, including Kevin Costner, Tommy Lee Jones, Sissy Spacek, Donald Sutherland, Joe Pesci, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, Kevin Bacon, Laurie Metcalf, Edward Asner, Brian Doyle-Murray, John Candy, Gary Oldman and Wayne Knight, the actor who probably had the second most screen time and dialogue behind only Costner was an actor named Michael Rooker. I myself, would never have recognized the name Michael Rooker and I assume most people would not either. However, the face and voice I recognized immediately. It was that of the character Meryl Dixon, brother of Daryl of The Walking Dead. Who knew he had an acting career before starring in the zombie television show?
Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon of the dog world . The Odd Couple ❤️
Watching a movie with Walter Matthau in it and geez-o-pete he looks like my uncle. And my grandfather. And probably me, in time.

Today I am celebrating the 16th anniversary of married life with Danny A Bramlett. We started dating in 1989 after I moved to LA. Country girl meets city boy...two more opposites couldn't be found. Somehow we have stuck it out through thick and thin all these years. Really looking forward to the next 16 years as he gets older and grumpier and I get younger and more beautiful...Sophia Loren and Walter Matthau in Grumpier Old Men! Also want to say Happy Anniversary to my in-laws, Ed and Jane Hee and John and Julie Bramlett. Fun to share this special day with these special people.
Grumpy Old Men and Grumpier Old Men 2 classic comedies. Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon 2 funny old men. Line of the day "You couldnt catch crabs from a 10 dollar hooker!" Lmao
Today's movie, "Cactus Flower" from 1969 -- Walter Matthau, Ingrid Bergman, and INTRODUCING Goldie Hawn!
I know one of these day I'm gonna be like Walter Matthau on Grumpier Old Men. Forget about Halloween and have to pass out laundry detergent, staplers, and coasters.

Privacy Virgins, the Republican Agenda, and HOPSCOTCH, 1980/2013 SLKW In the movie, Hopscotch, a CIA agent, tired of his bosses antics, flees and dares to publish an embarrassing memoir. It's interesting and witty; a classic "get even" movie, with an all star cast of Walter Matthau as Miles Kendig, Glenda Jackson as Isobel, Sam Waterston as Cutter, Ned Beatty as Myerson, Herbert Lom as Yaskov, David Matthau as Ross. Watching a rerun, we see that technology was still in it's infancy, almost non-existent; and the movie's mentality definitely reflected the culture of the Cold War. It shows an America (and a world) that no longer exists, although it does give a wink and a nod to female achievements, sorta, kinda, if you pay attention. But the interesting thing about this film is to review it in the light of relatively recent events like WikiLeaks, and the strange life of Julian Assange, the recent wire tapping accusations that Angela Merkel's cell phone was tapped by the US. Merkel is the German Chancellor. . ...
Everyone says I look like Penn Jillette... I think I look like Walter Matthau. :/ The life of a celebrity look-a-like I guess. Kekeke
Never esteem anything as of advantage to you that will make you break d Walter Matthau to Sophia Loren at 1st encounter
Speaking of Walts in general, now that Breaking Bad is in the books I feel like starting a thread of favorite Walts, fictional or non fictional, alive or dead. Here's a few off the top of my head: 1. Walter White - the man, the myth, the legend 2. Walt Whitman - a poet, touched many a soul, and was a major catalyst in the Breaking Bad series 3. Walter Davis - a character Bruce Willis played in a 1987 comedy called 'Blind Date'. My brother and I watched this movie endlessly for some reason. 4. Walter Matthau - classic 5. Walt Disney - may have been a Nazi sympathizer, but he is ultimately forgiven because of all the great cartoons.
"A lot of parts I want they give to Robert Redford."- Walter Matthau, born 01/10/1920. MT
