Wale Adedayo - (BabaLawo) Wrote: The answer is out! APC presidential flag bearer, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has picked erudite professor of law, Yemi Osinbajo, as running mate. We were expecting a politician with popularity to be picked, so that the person's acceptance across the South-West will ensure that at least 60% of Yoruba votes can be assured for the APC presidential team. It appears proponents of a religious candidate won, forgetting that Yorubas hardly care about anybody's religion when it comes to politics. What they are always concerned about is how much the person can impact on their lives. And if the person has been in office before, how did he/she fair? In Osinbajo's case, beyond fulfilling sentimental requirements about religion, the former Lagos State Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice will not add any political value to Buhari's presidential ambition. He is not a politician. He remains a competent professional and very God-fearing. Yes, he was pushed onto the presidential platform ...

"The same scenario is currently playing out in Ogun State, where the PDP and Labour Party are waxing stronger by the day despite the projects being done by the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Public opinion among the elites favour the APC and Amosun in many centres. But it is a different story among the lower classes, who constitute at least 70% of the voting population. The urge to control the APC structure in Ogun State has divided the party and currently giving undue advantage to the opposition, who appear set to rid Oke Mosan of Amosun come 2015". Extract from Wale Adedayo's write-up "Fayose’s victory, another lesson for APC leaders"

The killings were continuation of inter-cult war between Eiye and Aye. My heart feel heavy for mothers whose children have been wasted. For the upteenth time, Ogun State Governor,Senator Ibikunle Amosun, should do the needful to stem the tide of these killings. We are losing young people in a needless manner!

Alhaji Abdullahi Ladipo good evening. I am pasting this breaking news because of you. Either you or Mr Honesty Shawlar Imman Olaosebikan can have a thing or two to explain to our teem audience: Are you aware that under the command of the state governor, Soldiers are being used against the APC delegates in their state congress? Wale Adedayo (aka babalao) had this to say "Using soldiers against members of APC is a very sad commentary on the state of affairs in Ogun State APC today. Soldiers attached to OP Mesa from Ilese Barracks are forcefully beating elected delegates away from Local Government Congress venue in Ogbere, Ijebu East. A number are injured and some have been bundled away already." Now this is APC to APC what will happen when they will contend with other parties in general elections?? 7 Dies at Recruitment Exercise in Nigeria. This is the news headline in many foreign news media I monitored this morning. I read from Wale Adedayo's post that the minister blamed the incident on the inpatient attitude of the applicant. This may be true to a point, it equally shows the lack of experience and ineptitude on the part of the organisers. In planning any programme, you must factor socio-cultural peculiarities. That the organiser did not anticipate the crowd and possible impatience from applicant is a sign of failure. I have always advocated the concept of "imagining the worst" in planning any programme. Who is responsible and what should be done? I have read many comments about people resigning or been sacked. Ours Is a funny society, where people don't accept blames. Let me share this recent incident with you and allow you to reflect on this unfortunate incident: The Vice Chancellor, North West university, South Africa, recently resigned his appointment which was due to lapse in June this year. ...
Former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, maintained contradictory positions on events surrounding the 10 January 2009 attempted assassination of his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Wale Adedayo, at a Shagamu High Court on Thursday, as he insisted the attack was a fiction manufactured by the victim. Daniel had gone to court seeking redress for alleged libel contained in an account of the attack, “Micro-seconds away from death,” written by Adedayo and published by Journal Communications Limited. Represented in court by Prof. Taiwo Osipitan, SAN, the former governor wants N500 million as damages claiming the accounts in the book were flawed. Responding to questions from counsel for the defence, Mr. Olumide Fusika, the former governor feigned ignorance of the attack despite acknowledging evidence through an electronic mail (e-mail) that former Commissioner for Information & Orientation, Mr. Kayode Samuel, and Security Adviser, Alhaji Lamidi Odulawa, along with former Olabisi Onabanjo University ...
They claimed there was no attack. Yet, their agents addressed a press conference claiming armed robbers struck. Yes, they admitted Ogun State Government vehicle was used. But they claimed it was snatched from OOU VC, Prof. Osilesi. They said one of the robbers was killed, when we knew three of the assassins fell. Even the body of the one they acknowledged was felled has not been seen till date. But when their stories could not add up, campaign to smear Wale Adedayo began. They said all was a lie. Their own press conference and Osilesi's apparance too. Our Obas in Ogun State lent themselves to be used. Special Thanks to Alaiyeluwa (Engr. Kasali), the Moyegeso of Ijebu Itele. When Prof. Wole Soyinka lamented about our Obas, I remember telling CB there is one who will NEVER compromise with evil - Moyegeso. Glory be to God for today. Contradictions galore. God is not asleep. We WILL triumph!
The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, should take his eyes off non-performing local government chairmen by allowing the Legislature of the Third Tier of Government to sanction them appropriately. I am not comfortable with SIA's penchant for suspending Councils who try to sanction their chairmen. This attitude smacks of dictatorship. It cannot help this young democracy because the local government is where democracy ought to thrive the most for the citizens to really benefit from governance. This Imeko Afon Local Government matter is a very sad reminder of that of Ijebu East Local Government. Those elected should be allowed to do their jobs without being treated as appointees of the state government. -Wale Adedayo
A citation of the Guest Lecturer at Ijebu News Xtra 2nd Year Anniversary, Otunba Oluseyi Oduntan, read by Mr. Wale Adedayo at Grand Inn Hotel & Suites, GRA, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Sunday, 24 November 2013. Oluseyi Adelaja Oduntan (Seyi) was born into a deeply committed Christian royal family that remains distinguished in several areas, the most important of which are, high integrity, great moral standing, attachment to high principles, respect for human dignity total dedication, unyielding commitment to the pursuit of excellence, and above all, the fear of God. His father was the late Otunba Benjamin Adefolarin Oduntan, the Baba Oba of Iworo Ijebu who was, until he retired from service, a Permanent Secretary in the Old Western Region. His Uncle, Otunba Victor Abayomi Oduntan, the late Otunba Obaruwa of Ijebuland continued the illustrious tradition and service to the Civil service by becoming the Secretary to the State Government and simultaneously the Head of Service to the Ogun State Government, a unique ...

I understand some of my friends in Abeokuta are not happy with the comments I made about the shoddy treatments given to the Olota of Ota by the Ogun State Government as the monarch tried to install a new Iyaloja in his domain yesterday. They should by now have known Wale Adedayo. I am not a saint. But I say it AS IT IS (in Mushin, Lagos, "Bo se wa niyen!). We must not have two sides of the truth. And power can change hands tomorrow, with today's policies destined for the garbage bins. Those around leaders MUST do everything possible to satisfy their conscience and God. We must not because of losing our jobs or relevance shy away from telling the truth. What if I get all the money and position in the world today, and God says it is time to call me home by evening? If the Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, is following in OGD's footsteps, you guys owe him, your conscience and God to tell him to his face. You cannot order your boss around. But it is your duty to let him know when he is missing it. In my book ...
Wale Adedayo shared the following link and had this to say about it: I just called the Washington DC office of US Senator Ted Cruz, who remains a monumental disgrace to his country for generalising that Nigerians are internet fraudsters. "Tinubu despite his many failings has contributed and continue to contribute to the Yoruba Cause more than OGD/Mimiko and whoever they now have working with them. My belief is that once those around Tinubu do not go to sleep as subservient fools, who are only interested in being sycophants we'll gain more for the Yoruba Nation under Tinubu than either OGD or Mimiko. We can even do away with him later, just as the Egyptians who voted for Morsi threw him away a few days ago. I do not see the sense in this current anti-Tinubu propaganda by persons who should know better. The ultimate beneficiaries are worse than the Emeritus Governor of Lagos. Just my two cents ..." Wale Adedayo wrote: Nothing is certain anymore. You just cannot analyse with precision, again. But I feel for Hon. Opeyemi Bamidele, an ACN member of the House of Representatives, who is eyeing Governor Kayode Fayemi's seat in Ekiti 2014. I had firmly believed Rauf Aregbesola will lose his court case against Olagunsoye Oyinlola, thus the advise that the Ijesha comrade should prepare for 2011 given the possibility of instruction from Abuja to the judges. It did not happen. President Goodluck Jonathan refused to interfere with the judicial process that removed a sitting PDP Governor from office in a very key Souh-West state. And back to Bamidele, I was shocked to read today that the former students' union leader and Tinubu's person will still run for Governor despite Asiwaju's intervention to the effect that KF be allowed another shot at Governorship. Hmmm! Yes, there are speculations of Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko sponsoring Ope under the table so that he can run as a Labour Party candidate. But I ...
Adebayo Adeneye-Adejuwon wrote : I just received information that all *** has since been let loose in some quarters on FB since Wale Adedayo posted my comment on Bola Tinubu's comment made in Ekiti. My sincere thanks to Wale for giving my comments wings. Well, let me start by saying that it is the destiny of *** and agents of Satan in human form to go loose and even run berserk on the opinion freely expressed by an ordinary person like me. And by God's grace all the enemies of the people in Nigeria shall not know peace in Jesus name. For emphasis I will repeat myself as follows: 1.Bola Ahmed Tinubu the author and finisher if Jagabanditry politics is a rogue and a perjurer. His politics is unacceptable to me and I do not subscribe to it. He is selfish and he is greedy. My comment on Ekiti is that both since Fayemi and Bamideke are both products of politics of imposition Bamidele should let Fayemi be or get out of ACN. I have no apologies to make on this. 2. I supported ACN against OGDs attempt to install . ...
''Ogunde was a pillar of subliminal political propaganda for Awolowo's AG. But for him and others like him who rallied rural Western Nigeria to Awo's side it is possible our people would have thrown Awo away given the superior propaganda prowess of the Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe-led NCNC. Zik's people were effectively in charge of majority of the literate segment of Western Region population, who were mostly liberal minded persons as a result of their exposure to education. The NCNC's presence through the media was equally great. NCNC poohpoohed Awo's free education programme to the effect that the intended beneficiaries voted against the Great Leader's party during the first election shortly after the scheme was introduced. May the ssoul of Hubert Ogunde continue to rest in peace! media in a young democracy*Wale Adedayo (This piece was updated early last year when some colleagues began attacking my person for writing about issues in Ogun State and how pecuniary gains made a number of them look the other way concerning sundry allegations against the Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. It is being reproduced for friends in the light of the allegations by former Editor of The PUNCH, Mr. Steve Ayorinde.) I often get criticised by colleagues for describing Nigeria as a young democracy. And interestingly enough, some senior journalists regularly compare the situation in the country to that of the developed democracies when commenting about the shortcomings of the Nigerian system. Unfortunately for such individuals, the fact that the independent media and the judiciary were allowed to flourish under military rule, which they are used to, does not mean we have developed democratically because periodic elections have now been added. Democracies depend on institutions that have nothing to do wit ...
Wale Adedayo wrote: I have read some responses about Bashorun MKO Abiola being one of the pillars of Nigeria's problems at some point in his life. That is very true. Whoever says the opposite is a hypocrite and liar combined. But what has that got to do with the price of fish (apologies to former The PUNCH Editor, Azubuike Ishiekwene)? If punishment for his past misdeeds is reason some people believe MKO was denied the June 12 mandate and subsequently killed in prison, all Christians should be celebrating the tribulations and eventual death of Apostle Paul, who did more work (at least by documentary evidence) than Apostle Peter who many had expected will inherit Jesus Christ's mantle after the Ascension. With the notable exception of the One called Al-Amin long before He was called to Prophethood, all through history it is those who have been part of the system (either as key participant or a child of it) that have served to change it positively. Thus, in the case of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), He was also p ...
Wale Adedayo wrote: I do not think it is premature to doff my hat to Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. Of course, Hon. Remmy Hassan too. But SIA gets the most kudos because I've had to go back to 2008 when Hon. Titi Oseni was removed as Speaker, OGHA, and we could not gain the confidence of the lawmakers to enable them sit at a roundtable with us, and return her to office. Maybe he listened to advice. Maybe others did help him. But the reality is that in this case at hand, SIA passed where we failed. It is not easy getting opposition legislators to your table as Governor. It is even more difficult getting your party members who are opposed to you due to internal party issues. Yet, they all heeded his call for an amicable resolution of the crisis. I'll still write on this some other day. Maybe, Hassan needs to whisper some things to his neighbour and in-law in Bayelsa State about The Presidency's frosty relationship with the House of Representatives , which is controlled by the ruling Peoples D ...
Oladunjoye Tunde retorted: "You see, you people are later day recruits that lack information. Even OGD knows that I speak the truth always. Go and ask Ozogula, Oduwaiye, Wale Adedayo if they don't know the person called SU - - R and if he did not kill for OGD. Let me go further by telling you that the guy is now playing politics in Oyo State at a high level. I said I met a Commissioner recently that the guy confessed to. I never said Police Commissioner. When I petitioned Truth Commission on OGD's forced blood oath, he sent Kayode Oladele from US to go and plead with a big brother of mine in UK that I should not proceed. Have you asked yourself why all the people defending OGD on the net now are not the known and popular names that eat with him till the end? If they are the ones using unknown names, why?!" May He and his pro reap the fruits of his sinister acts... but if he is not guilt of all these accusations, may he be triumph over his blackmailers and the truth should prevailed. May the OGD supporters ...
Wale Adedayo, former Chief Press Secretary to Ex Governor Gbenga Daniel wrote: It has just come to my notice that some elements are circulating certain twisted facts claiming that same were given out by Wale Adedayo. These elements should remember I affirmed that what we discussed are contained in my book, "The traitors of Ogun State." It has nothing to do with former Minister of Solid Minerals, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola, as a person. Unfortunately, it was twisted and made to look like that because these elements favour another OGD son. They want to use my name to fight a proxy war. The relevant portion from Chapter Three (An insecure principal) of my book, "The Traitors of Ogun State" will be posted here soon.
Ibukun Molomo wrote: Wale Adedayo posted: Reading what the late the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, wrote about Christians in Nigeria in 1970, you'll think he spoke only yesterday: "In all our selfish contests, strifes, and acrimonies, we have the temerity and audacity to invoke God's help on the side which we espouse. In all matters, we regard ourselves as the true and impartial judges of the issues involved.
Wale Adedayo wrote: Mallam Nuhu Ribadu should by now have realised his name/integrity was used to calm frayed nerves by President Goodluck Jonathan. But from a reporter's angle, one can safely say that Ribadu played a fast one on Jonathan by leaking the report of the monumental corruption in Nigeria's oil industry to the foreign media shortly before it was submitted. Of course, and rightly so, Ribadu has denied being the source of the leakage. If that report had not been leaked, it would have been permanently tampered with and the thieves will be appointed to be supervisors of key areas where they can steal more. The drama in Aso Villa yesterday by Oronsaye and Oti has the blessing of Jonathan, no doubt about that. Both men did not appoint themselves into choice positions while the work of the committee was on. Somebody did. The ball is back in the court of Western democracies who mouth platitudes about their desire to see corruption considerably reduced in Nigeria. Jonathan, obviously, cannot do the need ...
Wale Adedayo posted: Wale Adedayo INEC has just declared Dr. AbdulRahman Olusegun Mimiko the winner of Saturday's gubernatorial election in Ondo State. Despite all the propaganda by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu's supporters, the ACN came a distant THIRD position well behind the PDP. What has just happened in Ondo State should be a veritable lesson for Mimiko. OGD, on the platform of PDP defeated Aremo Olusegun Osoba in 2003. The same OGD returned to office in 2007 to become an intolerant figure, and was roundly pushed out despite his earlier popularity. Tinubu who almost everyone is castigating today was until a few days ago the most popular politician in Yorubaland, and indeed Nigeria. Just like OGD, he lost it because of an attempt to play god. That you are popular and acceptable today does not make you a perfect human being. Mimiko should carefully walk the path of sanity by not allowing sycophants to destroy him. It is not easy to be humble when all around you people treat you like a god. The first rule here i ...
Wale Adedayo wrote: This month’s gubernatorial election in Ondo State should have been a straight run between an alliance of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Labour Party (LP) slugging it out with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This is what should have happened because the mainstream media in Nigeria believes ACN represents a Progressive tendency, while LP, a political party brought into being by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) cannot be denied of that title as well. PDP is considered a party of Conservatives. Interestingly enough, a Progressive political party will naturally be expected to present a candidate with a strong Progressive root as its gubernatorial candidate. Since the PDP has been knocked off the radar due to its perceived Conservative orientation, we are left with ACN and LP in terms of candidates. Unfortunately, the ordinary meaning of who a Progressive politician is or should be is being changed in the middle of the game in Ondo State. It has been argued times without number ...
