We must uphold the culture of winning - Mthembu Posted on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 - 19:15 Sphelele Mthembu made his second debut in Amakhosi colours against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup. Mthembu first came to Chiefs and made a debut in the Vodacom Challenge in 2008. A contractual dispute resulted in Mthembu playing for archrivals Orlando Pirates. Mthembu rejoined Chiefs from Platinum Stars this season and has vowed to work hard to cement his place in the Team. Congratulations you made your debut on Saturday. How did you feel when your name was called up to warmup? "I felt God's love through supporters. I was happy." How did you feel running on to the pitch for the Team warmup before the game? "It was amazing and it is always a good feeling. On the field is where I worship God through the talent He gave me." Your walk on to the pitch before the game? "Good thoughts came like rain, I was thinking of scoring goals." Your first touch of the ball? "After touching the ball for the first time I ...
Siphelele Mthembu could offer a lot to Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Chiefs Siphelele Mthembu PSL As exclusively revealed in 874 of this week's edition of Soccer Laduma, former Orlando Pirates striker, Siphelele Mthembu, is in talks to sign a deal to join Kaizer Chiefs in the 2014/15 season. The powerful forward and his representatives are currently locked in talks with Chiefs, as both parties look to potentially conclude a deal. The Siya crew have already reported on the striker's links with the Glamour Boys earlier in his career. Mthembu reportedly signed a deal to go to Chiefs in 2008, however his representatives were already said to have a struck deal for him join Orlando Pirates instead. He later featured in a Vodacom Challenge match for the Amakhosi against Manchester United, before Bucs later won a legal argument and he eventually went on to spend three unproductive years with that club. Relatively average spells followed later with Bloemfontein Celtic and Golden Arrows, before he enjoyed a very good 2013/ ...

ABOUT O.P Orlando Pirates supporters. Over the years, Orlando Pirates – also known as ‘The Happy People’ – have accumulated a record of successes having won the National Professional Soccer League title in 1971, 1973, 1975 and 1976, the National Soccer League title in 1994, and the Premier Soccer League title four times, in 2001, 2003, 2011 and 2012. Their first place finish in the 2010/2011 domestic league campaigns has generated much excitement among the club’s vast fan-base. Many other cup triumphs in domestic soccer have also been recorded, including Vodacom Challenge title victories in the inaugural 1999 tournament and in 2005. But the African continent and other areas of the soccer world took notice of Orlando Pirates Football Club when they won the African Champions Cup (now known as the Champions League) in 1995 and the African Super Cup a year later. Pirates were and still are the only Southern Hemisphere club to have won the African Champions League. This achievement resulted in the cl ...
But the unofficial ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’ between the two clubs - which states that they will not sign players from one another - has long since been forgotten. READ: Majoro move to Orlando Pirates confirmed During the 2000/01 season, Chiefs and Pirates were at loggerheads for the signatures of Arthur Zwane and Lesley Manyathela. Zwane joined Orlando Pirates in July 1996 but played only 12 matches in two seasons before he was loaned to Dynamos in the First Division. ‘10111’ was again loaned out in 1999/00, this time to Inland First Division side Classic, whom he help win promotions to the PSL. After another season with Classic, Zwane signed with Chiefs, but Pirates lodged a complaint, saying that he was still their player. At the same time, the Buccaneers secured the signature of unknown striker Lesley Manyathela, who had reportedly signed a contract with Chiefs. A tug-of-war ensued and the players were only able to play in the 2000 Vodacom Challenge because the competition didn’t require the ...
Kaizer Chiefs were founded on 7 January 1970 shortly after the return of Kaizer "Chincha Guluva" Motaung from the USA where he played as a striker for the Atlanta Chiefs of the North American Soccer League (NASL). He combined his own first name with the Atlanta Chiefs to create the name of Kaizer Chiefs. Several other people have played key roles in the formation and growth of Kaizer Chiefs, including the late Gilbert Sekgabi, Clarence Mlokoti, China Ngema,Ewert "The Lip" Nene and Rabelani Jan Mofokeng, he trailed and quit because of work.[2] Kaizer Chiefs are known as Amakhosi by its fans. Their headquarters is Kaizer Chiefs Village, in Naturena, six kilometres south of Johannesburg.[2] In addition to its impressive record of 80 titles in 36 years, the Chiefs have also set benchmarks in local soccer sponsorship.[citation needed] The 2001/2002 season was one of the Club’s most successful in their history as well as their most tragic. They won four major trophies in four months; the Vodacom Challenge, th ...

De Villiers right man for PSL job - Khoza SOCCER boss Irvin Khoza is confident the Premier Soccer League will thrive more under Brand de Villiers - a chartered accountant - who was last week appointed the league's new chief executive. De Villiers is also a director of Blue Bulls Rugby Union and a top businessman. He has been offered a three-year contract. He takes over from Cambridge Mokanyane, who has been acting CEO after the resignation of Stan Matthews last year. Mokanyane will return to his position of chief operations officer when De Villiers starts duty on July 2. De Villiers is not new to football - he served as tournament's director of the now-defunct Vodacom Challenge. He brought some of the big clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur, TP Mazembe, Asante Kotoko and AS Vita Club to the once-popular event. "We are confident we have the right man for the job. The executive committee needed somebody with a proven track record in big business and also massive knowledge of ...

What about our People whom are the core of their worlth? R1bn for Chiefs, Bucs RAMATSIYI MOHOLOA | 18 May. What is believed to be the biggest sponsorship in South African sports history was announced yesterday. Vodacom will give Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates "plus-minus R1-billion" over the next five years, according to Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza. The money will be split evenly, with each club getting about R100-million a year. The new deal would dwarf even that between Absa and Castle for Bafana Bafana, which was made five years ago. The beer company and the bank jointly gave the SA Football Association R500-million (R250-million from each company) which is up for renewal this year. Yesterday's announcement was the renewal of a previous sponsorship agreement between the company and the two football clubs, which began 13 years ago.
