OBSERVATION There is a man. He played for grin/Super Eagles in 1994. He won d Nations Cup for Nigeria fr d 1st time though as players' coordinator (captain). Called on to serve as coach(in his debut) he moved thru d valley & storm b/c of Nigerians atitude of pesimism & mischief. He though won d AFCON in 2013. He led d team to d Brazil World Cup & made great impression for him, fr Nigeria. Afterwards, fierce allegations & motives creeped d air again liding to his sack. But I(writing this) boasted in my family & beyond dat he was going to be recalled to d Super Eagles. Consider, he has made exploits over d years with my dear & lovely friend, Vincent Enyeama. This way, I am referring to Steven keshi(fondly called big boss on supersports & elsewhere). Now, d game between Nigeria/South Africa wil be anoda time for keshi to say, 'Nigerians Fast, Nigerians Always'(intent on winning). MY ADVICE TO NIGERIANS - pay wokas & contract workers like keshi as agreed. - psychologically, no one wil be focused let alone per ...
Backpass, November 17 English With the Super Eagles back home in Nigeria preparing for the most important game of the qualification race against South Africa on Wednesday after the 2-0 win over Congo at the weekend, Eagles' skipper, Vincent Enyeama has said it was a wonderful performance from all the players, but Nigeria is yet to qualify, so Nigerians should wish the team well and pray for success of the Super Eagles. Meanwhile, second choice goalkeeper, Austin Ejide has admonished football loving Nigerians to stop being negative about the Super Eagles. Elsewhere, Super Eagles hit man, Emmanuel Emenike has said that Nigerians should expect a tough game against South Africa on Wednesday. Deliberation: What aspect(s) of the Super Eagles' game still needs improvement(s) as they warm up for a final qualification showdown against South Africa's Bafana Bafana?
Enyeama on Ebola: “Anytime I Return to France From Nigeria, People Run Away From Me” This is so sad and annoying. Despite Nigeria having been declared completely Ebola free by W.H.O on Oct. 20; citizens travelling to different parts of the world, still find themselves dealing with indescribable discrimination. Nigerian skipper Vincent Enyeama has revealed that his French club Lille monitors him for three weeks for… Ebola Virus Disease every time he returns from international duty. “My club monitors me for three weeks any time I return from Nigeria because of Ebola and nobody wants to sit around you or shake you then,” said Enyeama. “But I must now commend the Nigerian government for the massive effort they put up to eradicate it from the country and get an approval from the WHO (World Health Organisation).” However, Enyeama maintained that if he had his way, AFCON 2015 will still be shifted to a later date because of the Ebola disease. “If I were CAF, I will suspend the tournament because ...

After this year's World Cup, Enyeama hinted that he would retire from international football but has now declared he has some unfinished business with his national side. 's top two performers at the World Cup Kenneth Omeruo and goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama were both snubbed
Nigeria may have long been kicked out of the World Cup by France, but the exploits of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama are still reigning supreme and being re-echoed at the on-going World Cup. Little wonder therefore he has been named in the Top 10 goalkeepers in the World Cup. He is rated the fourth best Goalkeeper in Brazil. 1 Manuel Neuer (Germany) 2 Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico) 3 Keylor Navas (Costa Rica) 4 Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria) 5 Tim Howard (USA) 6 Raïs M’Bohli (Algeria) 7 Júlio César (Brazil) 8 Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) 9 David Ospina (Colombia) 10 Tim Krul (Holland) culled What do you have to say about the rating?

Dear Mr. Arsene Wenger, please note that the UK transfer market officially opens today. I will appreciate if you can at least sign a world class striker for once, bring back Joel Campbell, sign a DM, replace Sagna, sell off Abou Diaby (for free.I dont mind), dont sell Carzola and Vermaelen, sign an experienced CB and probably a goalie in the mould of Mr. Vincent Enyeama. Thank you and I await your positive response and not another excuse for failure please.
-We are out of the World Cup tournament in the Brasil. Big up to Vincent Enyeama & Victor Moses, we would have conceded more goals but these 2 guys denied most of the clean clear chances. Victor Moses gave us a super clear save of the ball almost crossing the goal line. Well done Moses, to me i would say Victor Moses is capable to arbort 9months pregnancy if any lady wants that ..Hehehe.Well done man.
If you help see Vincent Enyeama, kindly help tell him not to quit Super Eagle now, Nigerians need him more even for d next Afcon.
Oge Okafor: WHY WOULD KESHI BLAME OUR GOAL KEEPER? No blames on Yobo. No blames on Mikel. The coach admitted that the goalkeeper was to blame for the nation's World Cup exit and suggested that some Super Eagles players are not giving their all on the pitch Stephen Keshi believes that Vincent Enyeama cost Nigeria their World Cup progress with his blunder in their 2-0 last-16 defeat to France on Monday. The goalkeeper pulled off some super stops to keep Les Bleus at bay but made a fatal error with 11 minutes left on the clock, failing to clear a corner which allowed Paul Pogba to put Didier Deschamps' men into the lead. Joseph Yobo, on his 100th cap, endured the pain of scoring an own-goal in the last minute of the match as the Super Eagles failed in their goal to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in their history. Keshi openly admitted that Enyeama's error had handed the game to France while hinting that his players taking their eye off the ball is to blame for Nigeria's latest World C ...
We give God all the glory that the first half of the match (year) has come and gone and none of us sustained any serious injury like (Onazi) nor a red card during the match. As the second half resume today, may you never fire blanks or your goal been disalllowed like that of (Emenike). In time of trouble, baba God will be there to save you like (Vincent Enyeama). There shall be no (Joseph Yobo) in your life this month, rather you will score against your opponent not your own net. When you think all hope is gone, someone somewhere will be there to make a touchline clearance for you like (Victor Moses). You shall never experience defeat this month and beyond like France did to Nigeria, victory song shall be your portion. If you believe say a BIG AMEN! HAPPY NEW MONTH FOLKS.
Nigeria, Algeria Thrown Out of World Cup Africa suffered another nightmare as Nigeria crashed out of the World Cup and were emulated by Algeria ending hopes of the continent’s possible semi- final spot had both teams made the quarterfinal. Nigeria being the only one of two African countries in the round of 16 had held until the 79th minute when Juventus striker Paul Pogba benefitted from an uncharacteristic Vincent Enyeama error and headed Les Bleus ahead. Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama went from hero to zero as his error helped France to a 2-0 World Cup last-16 triumph. Enyeama, who plies his trade with Lille in the French top flight, made sensational saves from Karim Benzema and Paul Pogba, but the latter capitalised when the keeper fluffed at a 79th-minute corner to book a quarter- final place. Joseph Yobo who was playing his 100th game for Nigeria conceded an own goal in stoppage time further compounding Nigeria’s misery. The African nation entered the match under the cloud of a dispute over b ...
For 78 minutes, Nigeria's Vincent Enyeama had been inspired in standing up to everything that could throw at
DAY 19: LATE RALLIES SEND THE AFRICANS PACKING France needed a howler from a Nigerian player to notch their first goal and it came from the unlikeliest of sources as goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama who had been Eagles best player since the start of the tourney flapped Valbuena's corner kick unto the path of Paul Pogba who just had to head the ball into an unguarded net. Enyeama had saved a Pogba half volley earlier in the first half and a couple other top draw saves before his mistake put the French in front. Joseph Yobo (winning his 101st cap for the Super Eagles) dinked another Valbuena (this man can be short.) low cross past his goalkeeper to give Les Blues who were otherwise unspectacular a 2:0 win. Emenike had a goal disallowed in the first half as well which Hawk Eye confirmed to be a right call from the lineman even though it was very close. In a nut shell, Nigeria is out. The only thing we are not sure of is where their plane will be received. Abuja or Lagos? *winks*. The last representative from Afric ...

France 2-Nigeria 0- Not the most pleasing to the eye but a wide open game nonetheless. French Coach Didier Deschamps’ tactical change of bringing on F11 Antoine Griezmannwas onto the left wing-left midfield and bringing Karim Benzema into a more central attacking role was what the French needed to open up the left flank, force the Nigerian defenders to open up and give France many more options to attack and score. It has to be said that there were some great shots and wonderful saves from both side. Nigeria's GKer 1 Vincent Enyeama was valiant in his efforts making one great save after another. Unfortunately, as is the lot of the Gker, 2 mistakes were enough to knock Nigeria out of the World Cup and help France to advance to the quarter-finals. If Vincent’s teammates were up to the task it could have been a different outcome. A miscue from Enyeama on the CKick, he palmed the ball instead of catching or boxing it high and wide. It flicked on to Paul Pogba's head for France 1-0. Then The Cramer Principl ...
In my next world;i want to be a Nigerian groomed by Jewish parents that will live in Europe.Once again the European tactical discipline came to the fur,D same way the coach of the then Italy instructed his players to take out Emmanuel Amunike and Daniel Amokachi and win the game.Didier Deschamps today replicated same.A harsh tackle on Onazi dat deserved a red card and from then on Nigeria lost d game.Whenever it gets to dis level. The European mental superiority has once again bamboozled d most times ill-creative and few times intelligent disposition of d African tactical display. Nigeria keeper Vincent Enyeama made stop after stop, until a mistake on a corner which Paul Pogba finished off. France face the winner of Germany/Algeria on Friday.
France marched into the World Cup quarterfinals after shading an absorbing contest against Nigeria in Brasilia. - Brewin: Pogba pounces on Enyeama error Les Bleus had been kept at bay by the African side for much of the match, and given a few scares of their own, before a spell of intense pressure led to Paul Pogba heading them into the lead on 79 minutes before Joseph Yobo's own goal only compounded the Super Eagles' misery. For much of the match, Nigeria keeper Vincent Enyeama -- who plays his club football in France for Lille -- had defied the French, but it was his unfortunate blunder that allowed Juventus star Pogba the chance. Until then, Enyeama had been heroic -- not least with a brilliant reaction save after Mathieu Valbuena had set Pogba for a powerfully-struck volley. With Enyeama in such form, Didier Deschamps' France side could not afford to be wasteful and Valbuena's promptings in midfield looked the best avenue for attack. It was the Marseille midfielder who conjured a neat lay- off into Ma ...

Nigeria's Emmanuel Emenike had a first-half goal ruled out for offside before Vincent Enyeama saved Pogba's volley. Victor Moses cleared Karim Benzema's shot off the line after the break and Yohan Cabaye volleyed against the bar. Pogba headed home after Enyeama's misjudgement before Yobo diverted Mathieu Valbuena's cross into the net. France will play the winners of Monday night's match between Algeria and Germany in the quarter-finals.
Guillermo Ochoa is frankly my Goalkeeper of the tournament so far but Vincent Enyeama was clearly impressive too. So sad its over for him
France are through to the quarter-finals to face either Algeria or Germany after a hard-fought win against the African champions. The deadlock was broken by Paul Pogba after a goalkeeping error by the otherwise-excellent Vincent Enyeama and a Joseph Yobo own goal finished things off in stoppage time at the end of the match.

In World Cup Brazil 2014 we have seen so many great goalkeepers arise. There were Guillermo Ochoa, Keylor Navas, and then Vincent Enyeama !!
Like Guillermo Ochoa yesterday, Vincent Enyeama deserves a much better fate than this.
We should send Vincent Enyeama to northern nigeria. He Can save us from Boko Haram
There has been some outrageous shot-stopping in this World Cup! Keylor Navas, Vincent Enyeama & Guillermo Ochoa all excellent.
GOAL - France 1-0 Nigeria - Paul Pogba (79 mins) France move up a gear and Nigeria cannot cope. After two near misses, Les Bleus find the net after Vincent Enyeama flaps at a cross and Paul Pogba is well placed to head home. It's cruel on Nigeria who have played so well. But there's still time for them to haul themselves back.

Seriously, who'd have thought before World Cup that the 2 standout keepers in the tournament would be Vincent Enyeama and Guillermo Ochoa?
GREAT SAVE! - France 0-0 Nigeria Sensational stop by Vincent Enyeama to keep out Paul Pogba's volley close to the penalty spot. We've seen some brilliant saves at this tournament. That was right up there. This match is being played at helter-skelter pace. Another ***

5 things we learnt from Nigeria vs Argentina * 1- Payback for Messi When Nigeria faced Argentina at the last World Cup in South Africa, it was a personal duel between Lionel Messi and Vincent Enyeama. The Lille goalkeeper repelled the Barcelona forward time and time again, even though Gabriel Heinze eventually secured a 1-0 win for the South Americans. In 2014, there was nothing Enyeama could do about Messi’s brace. The first was an emphatic finish from a loose ball inside the area, while the second was a sublime free-kick before half time. 2- Di Maria vs Enyeama If Messi succeeded in breaking his jinx against Enyeama, Di Maria opened another personal duel with the Eagles vice-captain. It was the turn of the Real Madrid ace to be shut out by Enyeama. 3- Mikel Obi is not the answer The Chelsea midfielder was simply pathetic in this game. Played with no pace, no desire and no skill. Many times, Mikel Obi who was the second best player behind Lionel Messi at the World Youth Championship in 2005, exposed hi ...
Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa are my men of the match.
FINAL WHISTLE NIGERIA 2:3 ARGENTINA Lionel Messi netted twice in the first half as Argentina topped Group F with a 3-2 win over Nigeria in Porto Alegre. Nigeria will also join Alejandro Sabella's side in the last-16 as Bosnia's 3-1 win over Iran in Salvador meant that four points would be enough for them to finish the group in second place. It took Argentina just three minutes to take the lead after Angel Di Maria’s strike rebounded into the path of Messi and he slammed the loose ball into the roof of the net. But Nigeria hit back within a minute as Ahmed Musa cut inside of Pablo Zabaleta before unleashing a wonderful curling effort beyond Sergio Romero from the left wing. Messi looked hungry to make it four goals from three games in Brazil and he did so just before the break, finding the net with a stunning free-kick which left Nigeria keeper Vincent Enyeama helpless as he scrambled across his line. It promised to be the Messi show but Nigeria had other ideas as they hit back just minutes after half-ti ...
For me, Vincent Enyeama was the Man of The Match, Ahmed Musa showed great and fantastic improvement in his performance, Osaze Odemwingie played to instruction and as such, he was kind of passive in the game, while Mikel Obi was not in the game at all! Stephen Keshi still needs to get his tactics right; the defence needs to be tighter, and the attack needs more flexibility and versatility. Overall, it was a decent game!
Finally for once im commendin d Super Eagles..im very impressed wit d performance even though dey lost, cos iv always said it dat dey can neva beat my Argentina...Nigerians av to always c my reason for bin against dia play weneva dey win,cos for me its not all abt winnin n winnin..all i wanna c dem do always is play excellent football...but my reason for always lambasting dem has not improved, and dat is dia lack of aggression n leavin pockets of spaces for opposin teams to take advantage...seems dey r gettin beta match after match.but dey shud no dat playing France is gonna be harder dan ever, cos d Eagles' defence is still poor..also,dey lacked creativity,Mikel is suspect..excellent work from Ahmed Musa n Vincent Enyeama especially.anyways, congrats Nigeria for bin d 1st African team to qualify 4d 2nd round!
My Assesment of Today's Game. Super Eagles needs a PLAYMAKER 'coz mikel has lost d touch dat won him many admirers in 2005. Also, we need a natural right full back as Ambrose is often caught out of position most times, We shouldn't 4gt how his half clearance led to d corner dat won Argentina d match. Overall, kudos to Vincent Enyeama... Ahmed Musa... Ogenyi Onazi & Emmanuel Emmenike for dia outsanding performance thus far.
Amazing free kick by Lionel Messi ! First one was denied by Vincent Enyeama, but the Nigerian goalkeeper can't stop the second free kick from entering his goal. But an applause should be given to him, as he make 10 saves during the game, some of it is crucial. Ahmed Musa equalised twice but Marcos Rojo scored Argentina 3rd goal from corner kick set piece, with his knee. Bosnia won 3-1 over Iran, but both of them can't qualify to the next round, as Argentina and Nigeria already make their way. Btw congratulations to Bosnia for their first appearance in World Cup, with a win and 2 losses during group stage. Not bad for a first timer. P/s : Columbia and Greece qualify from Group C. Greece qualify after getting a penalty kick during 90th minute, thanks to dirty diver Georgios Samaras.
Vincent Enyeama !! You beauty! Take a bow! The precision and eyes of an eagle this man has got! He is the best eagle amongst the Super ones. He is like a flying dragon. Congrats to Joseph Yobo on his 100th. Nigeria is indeed proud of this man! Oh, and not to forget Ahmed Musa's brilliant double attack! My team is out already but now I got a team to support. First African nation to enter knockouts! David vs Goliath is on!
Although, the absence of charismatic mid-fielders worked against Nigeria... OUR EAGLES ARE SUPPER. STANDING OVATION for Ahmed Musa who failed not to convert his chances. GBOSA! For the goal stopper Vincent Enyeama...and the rest of the team.

The Maccabi Tel Aviv shot stopper made several close-range saves during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina. Two games in the tournament, Enyeama has made eight saves that prevented the opponents any chance to find the back of the net, notably among them was a last minute attempt by the Bosnia-Herzegovina striker Eden Dzeko which was saved by Nigeria goalkeeper. Worldcup teazer!!! 32 matches already played And Vincent Enyeama remains the best Gloves man of the tournament so far. If you recall my post on the 13th June, after the match between Spain and Netherlands that ended 5-1 in favour of the Dutch side. I said and i quote "I remain optimistic that Super Eagles No1 Gloves man Vincent Enyeama will not be scored 5goals in a game." Having conceded 5goals in a game by one of the best Gloves man in the world, Iker Casilas. Will it be to early to start thinking Enyeama might just end up winning the Golden Gloves award of the tournament? Only time shall tell. Or perhaps, after catching a glimpse of his encounter with the Argentines, we will know how far. . .
Ameobi admits Nigeria rode their luck Shola Ameobi admitted Nigeria rode their luck at times as they beat World Cup debutants Bosnia-Hercegovina 1-0 in a crucial Group F encounter on Saturday. Peter Odemwingie's first half strike handed Nigeria their first win at a World Cup finals since 1998. The goal came just seven minutes after Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside. Nigeria also survived a late scare in injury time. Dzeko scuffed a shot which Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama deflected onto the post and away to safety. Ameobi conceded Nigeria needed a bit of luck. "We probably rode our luck a bit but it was all about getting the three points and getting the job done," Ameobi told BBC Sport. "In football you need a bit of that [luck] but kudos to the lads, they fought hard for this victory because Bosnia kept coming at us. We never doubted our own ability. "Credit is due to the coaching staff and our fans too for their support after a difficult first game against Iran ...
BREAKING : President Mugabe of Zimbabwe has appointed Vincent Enyeama as the Minister of Finance in a bid to SAVE the country's economy..
Vincent Enyeama gives a certain level of assurance that none other can give, I believe that guy die. One of those days too when I miss living beside Osaze's father in Benin city, we for no hia word for street this morning. Congrats to Nigeria...and to PDP too. Like Ufuoma Surface Dogun put it, they overwhelmingly 'outriced' APC at the Ekiti grassroots, APC needs to buy more rice and do all the things they accuse their PDP cousins of doing next time, after all they're mostly the same actors. Naija l'awa o, a'owa ni Canada.
Though Osazee was named man of the Match, i would rather give it to Vincent Enyeama. All the players did well, i mean all, not one to be left out. Ambrose was electrifying, resilient and dogged. Yobo impressed me, i'm speechless. Omeruo is fantastic, disciplined and tactical. Oshinawa, far better than alot of popular left backs. I nor know where him for see strength and confidence. Onazi, yes a few mistakes, but certainly alot of respect for him. He was a warlord in the midfield and even the attack. Mikel, superb performance from him, i think Mikel visited this page and read our attack on him. Odemwningie, certainly a professional player. He was magnificient. Babatunde. Surprised inclusion, but indeed nice injection. He was brilliant till he left the pitch. Musa, always gave them some runs, was in good positions several times and his presence was scaring until he left the pitch. Emenike, Oboy, wetin you chop come field, so tey Bosnia players dey pump their mouth for strength when you hold ball. You were a ...
FT 1-0 Dzeko denied clear goal and thwarted late on by defiant Vincent Enyeama to ensure Super Eagles win
No Messi moment for Dzeko as disappointing Bosnia-Herzegovina exit World Cup The forward had the chance to keep his side in the competition in the palm of his hand but his failure to take a late chance exemplified a poor night It was Edin Dzeko's moment. The man who has come to symbolise this Bosnia-Herzegovina team and what it means for the nation to finally perform on the world stage. It was time to preserve a point and to give Bosnia-Herzegovina one more meaningful match in the World Cup; Iran next week. Surely they would be overcome and, who knows, Bosnia would be in the knockout rounds. It had to be him. He would have dreamed it a thousand times. He took the ball on his chest, swivelled and shot. No dream outcome. The reality here that Bosnia-Herzegovina were not good enough to earn a point against Nigeria and stay in the World Cup. The shot bobbled on the ground, caught the body of Vincent Enyeama and hit the post. With that, hopes were punctured. Time to wake up. Bosnia-Herzegovina's debut World Cu ...
Peter Odemwingie's first-half goal gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over Bosnia in World Cup Group F on Saturday and condemned the European team to an early exit in their first appearance in the finals. The Nigerians' first World Cup finals victory since 1998 put them on four points from two games, two less than Argentina who they meet in the final group match on Wednesday with top spot at stake. Nigeria took the lead after 29 minutes when Odemwingie fed Emmanuel Emenike on the right wing and raced into the box to receive the striker's low return before clipping the ball under goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian bench angrily protested that Emenike had fouled captain Emir Spahic as he bundled past him into the box before making his cross. The tournament newcomers had earlier been denied a goal in a poor offside decision against striker Edin Dzeko after he ran on to a through pass and beat goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in the 21st minute. Dzeko had another shot saved by Enyeama but he was well off target with chances ...

BBC World Service reporter John Bennett: "There are 1062 reasons Nigeria's Vincent Enyeama will be confident of keeping a clean sheet tonight." "Last season with Lille Enyeama went that many minutes without conceding a goal, almost beating the French top flight record. "He's already made a couple of important stops and over the last 18 months has proved himself to be one of the best keepers Africa has ever produced. "Edin Dzeko faces a massive challenge to beat the Super Eagles keeper."
If Itumeleng Khune had Vincent Enyeama's brain he would be a brilliant goalkeeper. Now he is just a good keeper.
Brazil 2014: I’m ready for Bosnia war–Enyeama: Super Eagles first choice keeper, Vincent Enyeama said there is nothing to panic over the draw recorded against Iran Monday night in Curitiba, insisting that the next game against Bosnia would decide the fate of the country. Enyeama, who spoke exclusively to Daily Sunsports in the mixed zone of the Curitiba stadium moments after the Iran game said he is battle ready for Bosnia, declaring that he would do everything possible to keep a clean slate. The France based keeper, who received a lot of accolade for making a brilliant 80th minute save that saw the Eagles not conceding against lowly rated Iran said he knew what to expect from Bosnia. “I was on holidays for most part of this game against Iran, but it would definitely be different against Bosnia, but I am ready for it. A goalkeeper can always keep his team in a game and that is what I will do against Bosnia. I know they have a more vibrant attack, they won’t sit back like Iran. They will come at us ...

National record: Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, Kanu and Okocha are the only Nigerian players to play in 3 World Cups.
OPINION: Why Stephen Keshi Is Wrong For Nigeria In Brazil Lethargic players Nigeria's players are not driven and motivated. We play as if nothing is at stake. Our defense is lethargic and flat-footed. Captain Joseph Yobo is way past his prime. Against the United States, American strikers easily danced around him. Jozy Altidore only managed to score one goal for Sunderland throughout the entirety of the last EPL season. But playing for the United States, he was too much for the Nigeria's lackluster defenders. Jurgen Klinsmann discovered that there was a gaping hole in the left flank of the Nigerian defense. As a result, journeyman Altidore became a local hero, scoring two dazzling goals against Nigeria. If he could do this, I wonder what to expect from Edin Dzeko and Vedad Ibisevic of Bosnia Herzegovina. I shudder what Lionel Messi and Kun Aguero of Argentina would do to us. If not for the fact that Nigeria has in Vincent Enyeama, one of the best gold-keepers in the world; some of the matches we played rec ...
Boos for Nigeria, Iran *As teams register first stalemate at otherwise attacking World Cup CURITIBA, Brazil (AFP) Nigeria and Iran became the first sides to draw at the 2014 World Cup as they played out a turgid 0-0 draw in Curitiba yesterday. In stark contrast to the attacking nature of the tournament so far, neither side showed much creativity and the final whistle was met by a cacophony of boos from the mainly Brazilian crowd. However, their disenchantment didn't cut much ice with Iran coach Carlos Queiroz. "I must praise my players, they more than deserved this draw," said the 61- year-old, who guided his native Portugal to the 2010 World Cup finals. "The most important thing is that everything is now open to us." After a bright start from Nigeria, it was Iran who forced the only meaningful save of the afternoon from Vincent Enyeama as the Lille goalkeeper parried Reza Ghoochannejad's headed effort. A point apiece leaves both sides tied for second place in Group F with Argentina leading the way, thank ...
Backpass, June 17 Part 2 (Powered By MTN) Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo has called for calm following last night's 0-0 draw against Iran. Yobo admitted that they found it hard to breakthrough the Iranians who were resolute defensively but promised that they will do better against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday. In the same vein, assistant Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama has given some credit to Iran after last night's 0-0 draw, however, he noted that all hope is not lost as they will attempt to win on Saturday against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Elsewhere, dropped Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has stated that the team would have done better if Osaze Odemwingie had started. Deliberation: Where did the Super Eagles get it wrong? How can they get it right against Bosnia?
Group F - Iran and Nigeria had to settle for a point apiece after an uninspiring goalless draw in their Group F meeting in Curitiba. Nigeria dominated possession but created few chances against a disciplined side managed by ex-Manchester United coach Carlos Queiroz The Super Eagles' best opportunities came in the first half, when Ogenyi Onazi fired a yard wide before Ahmed Musa went close with a free-kick. Iran's Reza Ghoochannejad forced a great save from Vincent Enyeama. The share of the points leaves both teams well placed in the group after Argentina defeated Bosnia-Hercegovina. Stephen Keshi OUT TO UPSET THE WORLD IN BRAZIL. Stephen Keshi is a man of history who is synonymous with Nigerian football. As a player and coach, he has been a part of the game for the past 34 year,s having played for the Green Eagles (as they were then known) before retiring in 1998. He then became a coach of the under-20 side before serving as assistant to Shaibu Amodu as Nigeria qualified for Korea-Japan in 2002. EXPECTED FORMATION That team revelled in the 4-3-3 formation and, like Westerhof, Keshi also likes to play that way. Vincent Enyeama will again return to the World Cup as goalkeeper and captain, his third appearance after making his debut in Korea-Japan 2002, and South Africa 2010 where his battle with Lionel Messi in Nigeria's 1-0 loss to Argentina was a memorable duel of the tournament DEFENCE The Celtic centre-back, Efe Ambrose, is the nominal right-back, and Monaco's Elderson Echiejile is the first-choice left-back. Keshi has recalled the veteran Norwich City defender and the former capta ...
NIGERIA EXPECTED TO IMPRESS What they said: Mikel (Nigeria) "We know we're the African champions and people expect us to do well, to represent the African continent. That's a bit more extra pressure but it's pressure that we love. We love to be African champions." Carlos Queiroz ( Iran) "This is our 'Mission Impossible' once, twice and three times, but this is what makes the tournament attractive." Players to watch: Nigeria: Victor Moses: The Chelsea winger has arguably been Nigeria's stand out performer in the build up to the World Cup as the Super Eagles struggled in their preparatory games. Blessed with pace, the former Crystal Palace player can be a handful for opposing defenders to deal with. He will be Nigeria's main attacking threat against Iran as the Super Eagles look to end their no-win hoodoo. Vincent Enyeama. First choice for both club and country, Enyeama goes into the tournament as the best African player in the French top division, which will do a lot for his confidence. A tremendous shot-s ...

Nigeria defender Elderson Echiejile will miss the World Cup because of a muscle injury. The 26-year-old Monaco player limped out of Nigeria's 0-0 friendly draw against Greece in Philadelphia on Tuesday shortly before half-time. Echiejile underwent a scan where the injury was diagnosed as a muscle tear, which is expected to keep him out for up to three weeks. He will be replaced in the squad by Enugu Rangers winger Ejike Uzoenyi. (ADVERTISEMENT: COMPLETE SOCCER ACADEMY SOCCER SUMMER CAMP COMING UP ON JULY 3RD -AUGUST 1St. Go ONLINE TO REGISTER NOW.) Coach Stephen Keshi said: "Doctors have said Echiejile will need up to three weeks to recover from the muscle tear but we don't have that type of time to play with so we've taken the decision to replace him." US beats Nigeria 2-1 in final World Cup tune-up Jozy Altidore ended a personal six-month goal drought by scoring twice as the United States defeated Nigeria 2-1 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., in the Americans' World Cup send-off match. "To be honest, it makes no difference," Altidore said of his scoring dry spell. "I don't know if it's weird to you, but it's not weird to me. I've played for this team for such a long time that I think it's my responsibility to kind of help the team in other ways, tracking back and just being somebody now that the other guys can look up to. And I take that very serious." Altidore tapped in Fabian Johnson's cross in the 31st minute, stopping a 27-match scoreless streak for club and country with his first goal since Dec. 4 for Sunderland against Chelsea. In the 68th minute, he ran onto Michael Bradley's looping 30-yard pass over the defense and cut inside of Nigeria Captain Joseph Yobo before beating goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama with a right-footed shot from 12 yards. "The ...
This team Super Eagles spoilt my nyt, loosing to USA 2-1 is embarrassing, who is USA in the world of soccer? but I watched with nostalgia how they mesmerized our defense line Yobo been the man in the middle of the turbulent water, if Yobo cannot bow out Honorably he should be forced to bow or all Nigerians will suffer and pay for it, Keshi should better do something about this barren striking armies he has assembled that kept firing without aiming and off target, I am not particularly happy with Mikel, Victor Moses over does everything, I don't know who he is trying to impress I think it would do us more good if he be a more team player, Shola has no business in this team, for me we 've got only one player in this team and that is Vincent Enyeama, may God help this team in Brazil.
WICH AFRICAN TEAM DO YOU THINk CAN GO FURTHER AS»»» Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is backing the Super Eagles of Nigeria to go furthest of all the African teams – competing in Brazil. The Tottenham star believes the big- game knowledge and ability of the quartet of Stephen Keshi, Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi, and Vincent Enyeama are the ingredients needed by any team to be successful in a major competition like the World Cup. “Out of these teams, it [my choice for which of the African teams will go the furthest] would be Nigeria because of their concentration,” he told the Daily Express. “Because of Stephen Keshi [the coach] – he knows a lot about football and everything. He has been there as well as a player for Nigeria. “And they have got Victor Moses, who is a great friend of mine, and I like the way he plays. John Obi Mikel played a lot for Chelsea this year and showed how good he is. Their goalkeeper is very good. Nigeria have all the ingredients to be good in the World Cup.” Adebay ...

Fifa Confirms Super Eagles Numbers For World Cup Fifa has confirmed that the squad lists for this year’s World Cup have officially been documented and shirt numbers have also been confirmed for the 32 teams that qualified for this year’s event. Participating nations had earlier submitted provisional lists of players they intend to take to the tourney and Nigeria, alongside other Nations, were able to beat the June 2 deadline set by the football ruling body. The Super Eagles’ final 23 have now been allocated their jersey number that they would wear at the tournament that starts in less than a week’s time. John Mikel Obi will retain his number 10 on his jersey as he looks to be the creative force in midfield for Nigeria as Vincent Enyeama will wear the number 1 jersey. Shola Ameobi will wear the last squad number (23) while Joseph Yobo, who just returned to the team, will wear his usual number 2 on his shirt. Reserve goalkeepers Austin Ejide and Chigozie Agbim will wear numbers 16 and 21 respectivel ...
Nigeria goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim looked determined to prove his coaches right for selecting him, as he continued to post impressive performances in training. Whenever the goalkeeper took his turn in the post during the sessions, he seemed to go out of his way to frustrate the forwards, especially Emmanuel Emenike and Uche Nwofor. Both strikers were played through during drills, and Agbim matched Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide save for save. On one occasion, Emenike came one on one with the Gombe goalkeeper, and tried to go around him, but Agbim stood his ground, made himself big and palmed the ball away from the forward, then sprang up quickly, backtracked to his line to fingertip the ball away to safety. “I’m just trying to do my best,” he told KickOffNigeria.com afterwards. “Whether I play or not, I just have to be ready because this is football you can be called anytime.” The post Agbim impresses in training appeared first on The Nation. posted on June 07, 2014 at 01:39AM Send an email to ...
OBSERVATIONS: Nigeria 0 - 0 Greece 1. ENYEAMA SIMPLY FLAWLESS Game after game, Vincent Enyeama continues to prove why he is one of the world's best goalkeepers. He always seems guaranteed to save at least two goals per game. And this time, he didn't disappoint. Two important stops from him denied the Greeks, and if Nigeria are to progress beyond the first round, he will be a decisive part if that. 2. RAISE YOUR HAND IF U DISSED UCHEBO. Starting with me. Hands up. I have to confess I was not sold on Uchebo, especially after the Scotland game. He looked lethargic, moved in slow motion and just didn't look dangerous enough. But when he came on against Greece, he looked a different player. Assured touches, superb control and great link up play. Might be interesting to see if he started against Greece. 3. TEMPO, TEMPO, TEMPO. Greece posed a threat early on, inviting the Super Eagles to break them down. But when the Eagles broke at pace, that was when they looked a genuine threat. Keshi must get his wards to up ...

Nigeria will be desperate to record a morale boosting result in an international friendly match against Scotland at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. The 3-time African Cup Of Nations winners are confident of progressing from a tough World Group in Brazil that also contains Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran. Lille goalie Vincent Enyeama confidently declared his side could reach the showpiece's semi-finals last week – a view winger Victor Moses echoed in the build-up to the clash against the Scots. The assertions and declaration made by the duo will be put to test at the home ground of relegated Fulham. But first they must focus on finding rhythm and form against Scotland, Greece and the United States. The tune-up game provide an opportunity for to take a final look at his squad and one of the decisions he must make is whether to break up the defensive partnership of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona that has served him so well. Vincent Enyeama How can any of the continent’s stoppers compare to Vincent Enyeama? The Nigerian has had a terrific year at Lille and has established himself as one of the Europe’s finest goalkeepers. His 1062 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in the top-flight didn’t quite break Gaetan Huard’s long-standing French record, but it was evidence of a keeper playing at the absolute pinnacle of his game. He was consistently excellent this season – admittedly playing behind a solid defensive unit – and helped Les Dogues back into the Champions League. Faouzi Ghoulam The defender made a mid-season switch from Saint-Etienne to SS Napoli and has coped remarkably well with the transition from French to attacking football. He has delivered a ...

OPINION: IBOM PLAZA GIANT TV SCREEN & BRAZIL 2014 World Cup Every four years, nations of the world gather for the biggest football fiesta in the globe. Football is seen as a unifying mechanism among people irrespective of race and beliefs. Akwa Ibom state has been recognized locally and internationally as a result of some encomiums our sons and daughters have brought to us as a result of their achievements in various sporting endeavours. One of such is the undisputed Super Eagles of Nigeria first choice goalkeeper; Vincent Enyeama. The 30 year old has brought so much respect to Akwa Ibom state because of his exploits both for the national team and clubs he has played for. Akwa Ibom, a state with diverse culture is made of vibrant sport loving individuals. Ethnicity, tribal affiliation, social differences and rivalry are given no room whenever football issues are being discussed. This was the motivation behind mounting the giant television screen at Ibom Plaza by the Obong Victor Attah administration almos ...

The former Maccabi Tel Aviv player undoubtedly will be installed as the team's first choice to the Mundial. Currently in the running for the Ligue 1 goalkeeper of the season this year, Enyeama, will relish the prospect of renewing his acquaintance with Lionel Messi—the ‘keeper was in fine form against Argentine who failed to get the better of him four years ago in South Africa. Austin Ejide Club: Hapoel (ISR) Games 32 Goals Conceded: 21 Ejide has been second best to Vincent Enyeama for over a decade in the national team and his showings in his absence especially against Italy in London prove beyond doubts that Nigeria is lucky to have him as a ...

Joker: Home-based Super Eagles goalkeepr Chigozie Agbim has boasted that he's ready to challenge Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide for a slot in the National team for Brazil 2014. Agbim who lead the home Eagles to win the third place at the recently concluded Africa Nations Championship in South Africa said he should not be judged with the little mistake he made during the championship.
Rescue mission displayed by our rag-tag Super Eagles against Atlas Lions of Morocco in the quarter-final match between both sides at the on-going 2014 CAF African Nationa Championship is no more than gracious. My earlier observations were proven worthy. Chigozie Agbim again subject to poor positioning, silent commands to his defenders but improved on aerial agility to ward off threats and put off that free header in the second half of regulation time. The threat of Dele Alampasu should be used to make him sit up the more. Is this how he intends to upsatge Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide as Nigeria's numero uno? Kingsley Egwueke simply will never learn. Use your giant figure to good use! His poorly-timed approaches to attackers encouraged the waves of attack from the North Africans. His desire to join the attack without a synergy with Ali, Uzochukwu, Eseme and Odunlami had boomeranging effects; their first and third goals are evidences. His lacklustre leadership at the back hit a blow on Odunlami's effort ...
The heat is on I dread Wednesdays. It is my busiest day. It is the day I sit down before the computer to knock out this weekly column. Thoughts rush through my mind like water through a broken tap. I scribble several headlines from the time I wake up till I eventually settle down to put my thoughts together. This Wednesday at about 7.30pm, I was experiencing the writer’s block and chose to walk around the office in soliloquy. Whilst prancing around the office, a huge noise came out of the room where my colleagues were watching the game between Nigeria and Mozambique. I thought the Super Eagles had scored and continued with what I was doing. I then chose to walk into the room. I was confronted by a naughty boy who asked me where the coaches picked goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim from. I pretended as if I didn’t hear him because he is such a funny character who speaks his mind. He wanted my comments, but I kept quiet since he lauded me for likening Agbim’s quest to replace goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in my l ...

Vincent Enyeama is 59th in the world,Yaya Toure 21st,no mikel,no drogba in the just concluded world player of the Year Award.
I knew Vincent Enyeama had to vote for Lionel Messi...just knew
So it was Vincent Enyeama who voted in the capacity of Nigerian captain for Ballon d'Or and not Yobo. Sealed fate.
It emerged after Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo had won the coveted Ballon d’Or, that neither Ronaldo nor runner-up and winner since 2010, Lionel Messi, voted for the other in their top three. The Portuguese selected Radamel Falcao for first place, followed by Gareth Bale and Mesut Ozil, while the Argentine opted for Barcelona team-mates Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Neymar. England manager Roy Hodgson chose Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and Robin van Persie as his top three, while captain Steven Gerrard picked Ronaldo, Messi and Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez. Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ stand-in captain Vincent Enyeama voted Messi, Ronaldo, Ribery as first, second, and third respectively, while Coach Stephen Keshi voted Yaya Toure, Ribery, and Luiz Suarez as his best three.

Yaya Toure VOTED AFRICAN PLAYER OF THE YEAR Yaya Toure was a runaway winner of the 2013 CAF Player of the Year Award, according to a detailed result released by CAF. The 31-year-old Ivorian powerhouse won his third straight award on Thursday after he polled a total of 373 points. Mikel Obi was second on 265 points with Drogba third with 236 points. Only coaches of Nigeria, Sudan, Zambia and Libya voted Mikel as their best player of the past year. This was against the 20 national team coaches who voted Yaya as their best player.
