Worldcup teazer!!! 32 matches already played And Vincent Enyeama remains the best Gloves man of the tournament so far. If you recall my post on the 13th June, after the match between Spain and Netherlands that ended 5-1 in favour of the Dutch side. I said and i quote "I remain optimistic that Super Eagles No1 Gloves man Vincent Enyeama will not be scored 5goals in a game." Having conceded 5goals in a game by one of the best Gloves man in the world, Iker Casilas. Will it be to early to start thinking Enyeama might just end up winning the Golden Gloves award of the tournament? Only time shall tell. Or perhaps, after catching a glimpse of his encounter with the Argentines, we will know how far. . .
Ameobi admits Nigeria rode their luck Shola Ameobi admitted Nigeria rode their luck at times as they beat World Cup debutants Bosnia-Hercegovina 1-0 in a crucial Group F encounter on Saturday. Peter Odemwingie's first half strike handed Nigeria their first win at a World Cup finals since 1998. The goal came just seven minutes after Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko had a goal incorrectly disallowed for offside. Nigeria also survived a late scare in injury time. Dzeko scuffed a shot which Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama deflected onto the post and away to safety. Ameobi conceded Nigeria needed a bit of luck. "We probably rode our luck a bit but it was all about getting the three points and getting the job done," Ameobi told BBC Sport. "In football you need a bit of that [luck] but kudos to the lads, they fought hard for this victory because Bosnia kept coming at us. We never doubted our own ability. "Credit is due to the coaching staff and our fans too for their support after a difficult first game against Iran ...
BREAKING : President Mugabe of Zimbabwe has appointed Vincent Enyeama as the Minister of Finance in a bid to SAVE the country's economy..
Vincent Enyeama gives a certain level of assurance that none other can give, I believe that guy die. One of those days too when I miss living beside Osaze's father in Benin city, we for no hia word for street this morning. Congrats to Nigeria...and to PDP too. Like Ufuoma Surface Dogun put it, they overwhelmingly 'outriced' APC at the Ekiti grassroots, APC needs to buy more rice and do all the things they accuse their PDP cousins of doing next time, after all they're mostly the same actors. Naija l'awa o, a'owa ni Canada.
Though Osazee was named man of the Match, i would rather give it to Vincent Enyeama. All the players did well, i mean all, not one to be left out. Ambrose was electrifying, resilient and dogged. Yobo impressed me, i'm speechless. Omeruo is fantastic, disciplined and tactical. Oshinawa, far better than alot of popular left backs. I nor know where him for see strength and confidence. Onazi, yes a few mistakes, but certainly alot of respect for him. He was a warlord in the midfield and even the attack. Mikel, superb performance from him, i think Mikel visited this page and read our attack on him. Odemwningie, certainly a professional player. He was magnificient. Babatunde. Surprised inclusion, but indeed nice injection. He was brilliant till he left the pitch. Musa, always gave them some runs, was in good positions several times and his presence was scaring until he left the pitch. Emenike, Oboy, wetin you chop come field, so tey Bosnia players dey pump their mouth for strength when you hold ball. You were a ...
FT 1-0 Dzeko denied clear goal and thwarted late on by defiant Vincent Enyeama to ensure Super Eagles win
No Messi moment for Dzeko as disappointing Bosnia-Herzegovina exit World Cup The forward had the chance to keep his side in the competition in the palm of his hand but his failure to take a late chance exemplified a poor night It was Edin Dzeko's moment. The man who has come to symbolise this Bosnia-Herzegovina team and what it means for the nation to finally perform on the world stage. It was time to preserve a point and to give Bosnia-Herzegovina one more meaningful match in the World Cup; Iran next week. Surely they would be overcome and, who knows, Bosnia would be in the knockout rounds. It had to be him. He would have dreamed it a thousand times. He took the ball on his chest, swivelled and shot. No dream outcome. The reality here that Bosnia-Herzegovina were not good enough to earn a point against Nigeria and stay in the World Cup. The shot bobbled on the ground, caught the body of Vincent Enyeama and hit the post. With that, hopes were punctured. Time to wake up. Bosnia-Herzegovina's debut World Cu ...
Peter Odemwingie's first-half goal gave Nigeria a 1-0 win over Bosnia in World Cup Group F on Saturday and condemned the European team to an early exit in their first appearance in the finals. The Nigerians' first World Cup finals victory since 1998 put them on four points from two games, two less than Argentina who they meet in the final group match on Wednesday with top spot at stake. Nigeria took the lead after 29 minutes when Odemwingie fed Emmanuel Emenike on the right wing and raced into the box to receive the striker's low return before clipping the ball under goalkeeper Asmir Begovic. The Bosnian bench angrily protested that Emenike had fouled captain Emir Spahic as he bundled past him into the box before making his cross. The tournament newcomers had earlier been denied a goal in a poor offside decision against striker Edin Dzeko after he ran on to a through pass and beat goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in the 21st minute. Dzeko had another shot saved by Enyeama but he was well off target with chances ...
Vincent Enyeama sha!!! The man with the golden gloves.,.,, clean sheet. Abeg just hold the post for the next 5 games...
BBC World Service reporter John Bennett: "There are 1062 reasons Nigeria's Vincent Enyeama will be confident of keeping a clean sheet tonight." "Last season with Lille Enyeama went that many minutes without conceding a goal, almost beating the French top flight record. "He's already made a couple of important stops and over the last 18 months has proved himself to be one of the best keepers Africa has ever produced. "Edin Dzeko faces a massive challenge to beat the Super Eagles keeper."
If Itumeleng Khune had Vincent Enyeama's brain he would be a brilliant goalkeeper. Now he is just a good keeper.
Brazil 2014: I’m ready for Bosnia war–Enyeama: Super Eagles first choice keeper, Vincent Enyeama said there is nothing to panic over the draw recorded against Iran Monday night in Curitiba, insisting that the next game against Bosnia would decide the fate of the country. Enyeama, who spoke exclusively to Daily Sunsports in the mixed zone of the Curitiba stadium moments after the Iran game said he is battle ready for Bosnia, declaring that he would do everything possible to keep a clean slate. The France based keeper, who received a lot of accolade for making a brilliant 80th minute save that saw the Eagles not conceding against lowly rated Iran said he knew what to expect from Bosnia. “I was on holidays for most part of this game against Iran, but it would definitely be different against Bosnia, but I am ready for it. A goalkeeper can always keep his team in a game and that is what I will do against Bosnia. I know they have a more vibrant attack, they won’t sit back like Iran. They will come at us ...
National record: Joseph Yobo, Vincent Enyeama, Kanu and Okocha are the only Nigerian players to play in 3 World Cups.
OPINION: Why Stephen Keshi Is Wrong For Nigeria In Brazil Lethargic players Nigeria's players are not driven and motivated. We play as if nothing is at stake. Our defense is lethargic and flat-footed. Captain Joseph Yobo is way past his prime. Against the United States, American strikers easily danced around him. Jozy Altidore only managed to score one goal for Sunderland throughout the entirety of the last EPL season. But playing for the United States, he was too much for the Nigeria's lackluster defenders. Jurgen Klinsmann discovered that there was a gaping hole in the left flank of the Nigerian defense. As a result, journeyman Altidore became a local hero, scoring two dazzling goals against Nigeria. If he could do this, I wonder what to expect from Edin Dzeko and Vedad Ibisevic of Bosnia Herzegovina. I shudder what Lionel Messi and Kun Aguero of Argentina would do to us. If not for the fact that Nigeria has in Vincent Enyeama, one of the best gold-keepers in the world; some of the matches we played rec ...
Boos for Nigeria, Iran *As teams register first stalemate at otherwise attacking World Cup CURITIBA, Brazil (AFP) Nigeria and Iran became the first sides to draw at the 2014 World Cup as they played out a turgid 0-0 draw in Curitiba yesterday. In stark contrast to the attacking nature of the tournament so far, neither side showed much creativity and the final whistle was met by a cacophony of boos from the mainly Brazilian crowd. However, their disenchantment didn't cut much ice with Iran coach Carlos Queiroz. "I must praise my players, they more than deserved this draw," said the 61- year-old, who guided his native Portugal to the 2010 World Cup finals. "The most important thing is that everything is now open to us." After a bright start from Nigeria, it was Iran who forced the only meaningful save of the afternoon from Vincent Enyeama as the Lille goalkeeper parried Reza Ghoochannejad's headed effort. A point apiece leaves both sides tied for second place in Group F with Argentina leading the way, thank ...
Backpass, June 17 Part 2 (Powered By MTN) Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo has called for calm following last night's 0-0 draw against Iran. Yobo admitted that they found it hard to breakthrough the Iranians who were resolute defensively but promised that they will do better against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday. In the same vein, assistant Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama has given some credit to Iran after last night's 0-0 draw, however, he noted that all hope is not lost as they will attempt to win on Saturday against Bosnia-Herzegovina. Elsewhere, dropped Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has stated that the team would have done better if Osaze Odemwingie had started. Deliberation: Where did the Super Eagles get it wrong? How can they get it right against Bosnia?
Group F - Iran and Nigeria had to settle for a point apiece after an uninspiring goalless draw in their Group F meeting in Curitiba. Nigeria dominated possession but created few chances against a disciplined side managed by ex-Manchester United coach Carlos Queiroz The Super Eagles' best opportunities came in the first half, when Ogenyi Onazi fired a yard wide before Ahmed Musa went close with a free-kick. Iran's Reza Ghoochannejad forced a great save from Vincent Enyeama. The share of the points leaves both teams well placed in the group after Argentina defeated Bosnia-Hercegovina. Stephen Keshi OUT TO UPSET THE WORLD IN BRAZIL. Stephen Keshi is a man of history who is synonymous with Nigerian football. As a player and coach, he has been a part of the game for the past 34 year,s having played for the Green Eagles (as they were then known) before retiring in 1998. He then became a coach of the under-20 side before serving as assistant to Shaibu Amodu as Nigeria qualified for Korea-Japan in 2002. EXPECTED FORMATION That team revelled in the 4-3-3 formation and, like Westerhof, Keshi also likes to play that way. Vincent Enyeama will again return to the World Cup as goalkeeper and captain, his third appearance after making his debut in Korea-Japan 2002, and South Africa 2010 where his battle with Lionel Messi in Nigeria's 1-0 loss to Argentina was a memorable duel of the tournament DEFENCE The Celtic centre-back, Efe Ambrose, is the nominal right-back, and Monaco's Elderson Echiejile is the first-choice left-back. Keshi has recalled the veteran Norwich City defender and the former capta ...
NIGERIA EXPECTED TO IMPRESS What they said: Mikel (Nigeria) "We know we're the African Champions and people expect us to do well, to represent the African continent. That's a bit more extra pressure but it's pressure that we love. We love to be African Champions." Carlos Queiroz ( Iran) "This is our 'Mission Impossible' once, twice and three times, but this is what makes the tournament attractive." Players to watch: Nigeria: Victor Moses: The Chelsea winger has arguably been Nigeria's stand out performer in the build up to the World Cup as the Super Eagles struggled in their preparatory games. Blessed with pace, the former Crystal Palace player can be a handful for opposing defenders to deal with. He will be Nigeria's main attacking threat against Iran as the Super Eagles look to end their no-win hoodoo. Vincent Enyeama. First choice for both club and country, Enyeama goes into the tournament as the best African player in the French top division, which will do a lot for his confidence. A tremendous shot-s ...
Vincent Enyeama and Ogenyi Onazi are my picks to soar the most for inBrazil
Forget the optimism that has swept over Africa in the build-up to the 2014 Fifa World Cup; there are still a few more years to go before an African side stakes a genuine claim for Mundial glory. Cherry-pick the best footballers there are in the squads of the five nations representing the continent in Brazil - Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Algeria, and Cameroon - though, and it is quite easy drawing up a team that could readily take on the world and prove successful. Here is a preview: GOALKEEPER In goal, Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria) beats off competition from Cote d'Ivoire's Boubacar Barry. Lille's Enyeama, whose performances illuminated the French Ligue 1 in 2013-14, easily qualifies as Africa's safest pair of hands at the moment, having overseen a victorious Nations Cup campaign with Nigeria as well as a successful Fifa World Cup qualification series. DEFENDERS Shielding the 31-year-old are two generations of solid centre-backs: Godfrey Oboabona, 23, of Nigeria, alongside veteran Algeria skipper Madjid Bo ...

While in the U.S., the African Champions, settled for a 0-0 draws against Greece, and lost 2-1 to the United States. The team had early played a 2-2 draw against Scotland in Fulham. Despite their not-too-impress ive performance in the tune up games, Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel believes the Super Eagles can punch above their weight in Brazil. The 27-year-old believes the Super Eagles can spring a surprise in Brazil. “Hopefully, we can see an African team getting to the semifinals or the final of this World Cup. It may take time. “Yes, Nigeria could just win the World Cup because in football, anything can happen,” Mikel told FIFA TV. His teammate, Vincent Enyeama also believes Nigeria and two other African nations, Ghana and the Cote D’Ivoire can represent the continent creditably in Brazil. “It (an Afric ...

Overheard with one ear through Vure Kingsley Ovonix Snr, my friend from Bayelsa state, that the PDP Spokesman, Chief Olisa Metuh has blamed the Northern Governors and APC for the Super Eagles loss to the U.S by 2 goals to 1 in yesterday's World Cup warm up match. Here are my Super Eagle top players rating in yesterday's friendly against USA. ¤ Vincent Enyeama. ¤ Victor Moses...
US beats Nigeria 2-1 in final World Cup tune-up Jozy Altidore ended a personal six-month goal drought by scoring twice as the United States defeated Nigeria 2-1 on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., in the Americans' World Cup send-off match. "To be honest, it makes no difference," Altidore said of his scoring dry spell. "I don't know if it's weird to you, but it's not weird to me. I've played for this team for such a long time that I think it's my responsibility to kind of help the team in other ways, tracking back and just being somebody now that the other guys can look up to. And I take that very serious." Altidore tapped in Fabian Johnson's cross in the 31st minute, stopping a 27-match scoreless streak for club and country with his first goal since Dec. 4 for Sunderland against Chelsea. In the 68th minute, he ran onto Michael Bradley's looping 30-yard pass over the defense and cut inside of Nigeria Captain Joseph Yobo before beating goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama with a right-footed shot from 12 yards. "The ...
This team Super Eagles spoilt my nyt, loosing to USA 2-1 is embarrassing, who is USA in the world of soccer? but I watched with nostalgia how they mesmerized our defense line Yobo been the man in the middle of the turbulent water, if Yobo cannot bow out Honorably he should be forced to bow or all Nigerians will suffer and pay for it, Keshi should better do something about this barren striking armies he has assembled that kept firing without aiming and off target, I am not particularly happy with Mikel, Victor Moses over does everything, I don't know who he is trying to impress I think it would do us more good if he be a more team player, Shola has no business in this team, for me we 've got only one player in this team and that is Vincent Enyeama, may God help this team in Brazil.
WICH AFRICAN TEAM DO YOU THINk CAN GO FURTHER AS»»» Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor is backing the Super Eagles of Nigeria to go furthest of all the African teams – competing in Brazil. The Tottenham star believes the big- game knowledge and ability of the quartet of Stephen Keshi, Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi, and Vincent Enyeama are the ingredients needed by any team to be successful in a major competition like the World Cup. “Out of these teams, it [my choice for which of the African teams will go the furthest] would be Nigeria because of their concentration,” he told the Daily Express. “Because of Stephen Keshi [the coach] – he knows a lot about football and everything. He has been there as well as a player for Nigeria. “And they have got Victor Moses, who is a great friend of mine, and I like the way he plays. John Obi Mikel played a lot for Chelsea this year and showed how good he is. Their goalkeeper is very good. Nigeria have all the ingredients to be good in the World Cup.” Adebay ...

Nigeria goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim looked determined to prove his coaches right for selecting him, as he continued to post impressive performances in training. Whenever the goalkeeper took his turn in the post during the sessions, he seemed to go out of his way to frustrate the forwards, especially Emmanuel Emenike and Uche Nwofor. Both strikers were played through during drills, and Agbim matched Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide save for save. On one occasion, Emenike came one on one with the Gombe goalkeeper, and tried to go around him, but Agbim stood his ground, made himself big and palmed the ball away from the forward, then sprang up quickly, backtracked to his line to fingertip the ball away to safety. “I’m just trying to do my best,” he told afterwards. “Whether I play or not, I just have to be ready because this is football you can be called anytime.” The post Agbim impresses in training appeared first on The Nation. posted on June 07, 2014 at 01:39AM Send an email to ...
OBSERVATIONS: Nigeria 0 - 0 Greece 1. ENYEAMA SIMPLY FLAWLESS Game after game, Vincent Enyeama continues to prove why he is one of the world's best goalkeepers. He always seems guaranteed to save at least two goals per game. And this time, he didn't disappoint. Two important stops from him denied the Greeks, and if Nigeria are to progress beyond the first round, he will be a decisive part if that. 2. RAISE YOUR HAND IF U DISSED UCHEBO. Starting with me. Hands up. I have to confess I was not sold on Uchebo, especially after the Scotland game. He looked lethargic, moved in slow motion and just didn't look dangerous enough. But when he came on against Greece, he looked a different player. Assured touches, superb control and great link up play. Might be interesting to see if he started against Greece. 3. TEMPO, TEMPO, TEMPO. Greece posed a threat early on, inviting the Super Eagles to break them down. But when the Eagles broke at pace, that was when they looked a genuine threat. Keshi must get his wards to up ...

10 players Keshi CANNOT drop from his final 23-man squad Today is FIFA’s deadline for teams to submit their 23-man squads for the 2014 World Cup. Here are 10 players, who can be certain of their place on that plane to Brazil: Vincent Enyeama: Let’s be honest. The Lille stopper is the only reliable goalkeeper we have in the Super Eagles squad. Austin Ejide is a decent back up, but every Nigerian fan will be praying for Enyeama’s fitness. Victor Moses: Moses spent the entire 2013/2014 season on loan at Liverpool. The winger did not get much minutes under his belt, as Brendan Rodgers stuck with SSS – Sturridge-Suarez-Sterling. But there is no way Keshi will leave him out. Elderson Echiejile: After spending a couple of years as Taye Taiwo’s understudy, the Monaco left-back has grown into his own and has become Keshi’s first-choice in the role. That will continue at the World Cup. Efe Ambrose: Although the Celtic defender fills in at right-back for the Eagles, he can practically play across the bac ...

Nigeria will be desperate to record a morale boosting result in an international friendly match against Scotland at Craven Cottage on Wednesday. The 3-time African Cup Of Nations winners are confident of progressing from a tough World Group in Brazil that also contains Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Iran. Lille goalie Vincent Enyeama confidently declared his side could reach the showpiece's semi-finals last week – a view winger Victor Moses echoed in the build-up to the clash against the Scots. The assertions and declaration made by the duo will be put to test at the home ground of relegated Fulham. But first they must focus on finding rhythm and form against Scotland, Greece and the United States. The tune-up game provide an opportunity for to take a final look at his squad and one of the decisions he must make is whether to break up the defensive partnership of Kenneth Omeruo and Godfrey Oboabona that has served him so well. Enyeama, only Nigerian picked. So another fantastic season for African players across Europe is almost at an end. At the conclusion of the club and continental football calendar, and ahead of the World Cup, we present the African Team of the Season. Vincent Enyeama How can any of the continent’s stoppers compare to Vincent Enyeama? The Nigerian has had a terrific year at Lille and has established himself as one of the Europe’s finest goalkeepers. His 1062 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in the top-flight didn’t quite break Gaetan Huard’s long-standing French record, but it was evidence of a keeper playing at the absolute pinnacle of his game. He was consistently excellent this season – admittedly playing behind a solid defensive unit – and helped Les Dogues back into the Champions League. Faouzi Ghoulam The defender made a mid-season switch from Saint-Etienne to SS Napoli and has coped remarkably well with the transition from French to attacking football. He has delivered a ...

OPINION: IBOM PLAZA GIANT TV SCREEN & BRAZIL 2014 World Cup Every four years, nations of the world gather for the biggest football fiesta in the globe. Football is seen as a unifying mechanism among people irrespective of race and beliefs. Akwa Ibom state has been recognized locally and internationally as a result of some encomiums our sons and daughters have brought to us as a result of their achievements in various sporting endeavours. One of such is the undisputed Super Eagles of Nigeria first choice goalkeeper; Vincent Enyeama. The 30 year old has brought so much respect to Akwa Ibom state because of his exploits both for the national team and clubs he has played for. Akwa Ibom, a state with diverse culture is made of vibrant sport loving individuals. Ethnicity, tribal affiliation, social differences and rivalry are given no room whenever football issues are being discussed. This was the motivation behind mounting the giant television screen at Ibom Plaza by the Obong Victor Attah administration almos ...

The former Maccabi Tel Aviv player undoubtedly will be installed as the team's first choice to the Mundial. Currently in the running for the Ligue 1 goalkeeper of the season this year, Enyeama, will relish the prospect of renewing his acquaintance with Lionel Messi—the ‘keeper was in fine form against Argentine who failed to get the better of him four years ago in South Africa. Joker: Home-based Super Eagles goalkeepr Chigozie Agbim has boasted that he's ready to challenge Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide for a slot in the National team for Brazil 2014. Agbim who lead the home Eagles to win the third place at the recently concluded Africa Nations Championship in South Africa said he should not be judged with the little mistake he made during the championship.
Rescue mission displayed by our rag-tag Super Eagles against Atlas Lions of Morocco in the quarter-final match between both sides at the on-going 2014 CAF African Nationa Championship is no more than gracious. My earlier observations were proven worthy. Chigozie Agbim again subject to poor positioning, silent commands to his defenders but improved on aerial agility to ward off threats and put off that free header in the second half of regulation time. The threat of Dele Alampasu should be used to make him sit up the more. Is this how he intends to upsatge Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide as Nigeria's numero uno? Kingsley Egwueke simply will never learn. Use your giant figure to good use! His poorly-timed approaches to attackers encouraged the waves of attack from the North Africans. His desire to join the attack without a synergy with Ali, Uzochukwu, Eseme and Odunlami had boomeranging effects; their first and third goals are evidences. His lacklustre leadership at the back hit a blow on Odunlami's effort ...
The heat is on I dread Wednesdays. It is my busiest day. It is the day I sit down before the computer to knock out this weekly column. Thoughts rush through my mind like water through a broken tap. I scribble several headlines from the time I wake up till I eventually settle down to put my thoughts together. This Wednesday at about 7.30pm, I was experiencing the writer’s block and chose to walk around the office in soliloquy. Whilst prancing around the office, a huge noise came out of the room where my colleagues were watching the game between Nigeria and Mozambique. I thought the Super Eagles had scored and continued with what I was doing. I then chose to walk into the room. I was confronted by a naughty boy who asked me where the coaches picked goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim from. I pretended as if I didn’t hear him because he is such a funny character who speaks his mind. He wanted my comments, but I kept quiet since he lauded me for likening Agbim’s quest to replace goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama in my l ...

So it was Vincent Enyeama who voted in the capacity of Nigerian captain for Ballon d'Or and not Yobo. Sealed fate.
It emerged after Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo had won the coveted Ballon d’Or, that neither Ronaldo nor runner-up and winner since 2010, Lionel Messi, voted for the other in their top three. The Portuguese selected Radamel Falcao for first place, followed by Gareth Bale and Mesut Ozil, while the Argentine opted for Barcelona team-mates Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Neymar. England manager Roy Hodgson chose Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic and Robin van Persie as his top three, while captain Steven Gerrard picked Ronaldo, Messi and Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez. Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ stand-in captain Vincent Enyeama voted Messi, Ronaldo, Ribery as first, second, and third respectively, while Coach Stephen Keshi voted Yaya Toure, Ribery, and Luiz Suarez as his best three.

1. Dele Aiyenugba - Bnei Yehuda, Israel Fondly called The Cat during his days with Enyimba International of Aba, Bamidele Mathew Aiyenugba (born November 20, 1983 in Jos, Nigeria) has dropped into oblivion after failing to save the day in the Super Eagles’ infamous 2-2 draw with Guinea at Abuja National Stadium, which stopped Nigeria from being part of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations. Aiyenugba currently plays for Bnei Yehuda of Israel, which he joined five years ago as a replacement for Eagles’ current number one, Vincent Enyeama, who was sold to Hapoel Tel Aviv. They were also colleagues at Enyimba but, while Enyeama is waxing strong and currently hero of the moment in Nigeria and France, where he now lines out for Lille Metropole, Aiyenugba has dropped into the penumbra of soccer and the chances of him making it to Brazil 2014 are very slim – if not non-existent. BRAZIL 2014 World Cup: Code of conduct for Eagleson December 04, 2013 / in Sports 12:04 am Nigeria football officials are set to implement a code of conduct which they hope will prevent future rows with the national team over bonus payments. The move is designed to ensure there is no repeat of the dispute that almost caused the country to miss out on this year’s Fifa Confederations Cup. Players threatened to strike over a 50% cut in their bonus for June’s 2014 World Cup qualifiers in Kenya and Namibia. Sports minister Bolaji Abdullahi has forwarded a code of conduct, drafted by a committee he set up for immediate implementation by the country’s football federation. FOOTBALL UPDATE: Joseph Yobo is hoping that one of the five Nigerians nominated for this year's Glo-CAF Awards will bring the prize home. Vincent Enyeama, John Obi Mikel, Emmanuel Emenike, Sunday Mba and Ahmed Musa made the shortlist, but Yobo says that he is suprised at the omission of Victor Moses from the 25 man shortlist. "I think they have all done really well and deserve to be there. Credit to them and congratulations to them. I don't know how it's going to go, but I hope with the performance at the Africa Nations Cup, it helps one of them to win it. "In football, apart from the team achievement, you have to look at your personal achievement, and I think these guys have done enough. "Another person that should have been looked at is Victor Moses. I think he's had a fantastic year and I'm a little bit suprised that he is not there . "I think he should have been there because he did very well during the Nations Cup and has continued his good form at his new club
I'm not being too *** Jazzman Mahlakgane but,it must be said that he let Itumeleng Khune down.Exporting Khune is easy.Even Real Madrid won't mind paying €10million for him.I mean he can do better that Sir Iker Casillas. How did Darren Keet & Vincent Enyeama exported? Are they better than Itu? No wonder why Itu sacked him.
WHY CALABAR IS EAGLES' 'SHRINE'--Uzor Kalu. Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu sternly believes that Calabar is a no-go area-the cradle of Nigerian Soccer. ''Calabar hosted the first football competition in Nigeria-The beverly Cup in 1906. The first NFA Secretary, Efiom Okon till date remains the only man to have served the NFA as a chairman and a Secretary. The first player to captain Nigeria overseas was Etim Hensaw. The longest serving NFA scribe, Oyo Orok Oyo was also the first Nigerian member of the FIFA executive commitee. Paul Bassey was the first Nigerian Sports journalist in the CAF media commitee. Louis Orok Edet was the first and only Service Chief to head the NFA-in 1962. Nigeria's first President,Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe who played for Lagos Diamond in 1923, began his soccer career at the Hope Wadell Training Institute Calabar''. Today it is more than a mere irony that Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama is a Calabarian. It's not just about History, Champions are brewed in Calabar. Think o ...

Three things Stephen Keshi should learn from Italy game! Vincent Enyeama is a better goalkepeer to Austin Ejide! Ogenyi Onazi is a complete midfielder than Mikel who could hardly make a successful move in that game! Egwuekwe is not a type of defender we should hope on! Finally Shola Ameobi is a complete World Cup player! Kudos to Bright *** He won my heart when he scored the equalizer against Catalonia national team last January.
WHAT A MATCH! Nigeria vs Italy in Craven Cottage this night provided so much fireworks that it could well have been a World Cup q-final match instead of the friendly it truly was. Goals from Bright *** and Shola Ameobi gave Super Eagles a 2-1 lead after going behind via Giussepe Rossi delicate chip over charging Austin Ejide - all in the first half. The Italians equalized through Emanuelle Giacchereni immediately after the re-start. Starting with Ejide, Solomon Kwambe, Azubike Egwuekwe, Godffrey Oboabona, Francis Benjamin, Ogenyi Onazi, Mikel Obi, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Victor Moses, *** and Ameobi...the Eagles comported themselves well, recovering from early Italian dominance and goal to tell the Europeans they're indeed African Champions. Both teams played to win...but both Ejide, later replaced due to injury and Vincent Enyeama gave brilliant shows to deny the Azzuris who mounted enough pressure to have snatched a victory. But it wasn't by any account a one-way traffic. Onazi, fast becoming the real genera . ...
Great game Super Eagles. The second half wasn't as impressive as the first half. Stephen Keshi should find a solution to that leaking right back. The Super Eagles should also be watchful of European teams that like to play wide. The counter attack should be more potent as well. That said, Vincent Enyeama is a very fine goalkeeper. Well done!
Vincent Enyeama for Anambra state governor. He's gonna keep the treasury safe. No Ibori, IBB or OBJ shall get through. Excellent goalie!!!
Life is a gamble! We all all gamble everyday, believe it or not, in the decisions we take - to do or not to do. Sometimes the gamble pays off. Sometimes it doesn't. Ask every goalkeeper what he does before every penalty kick. He takes a gamble to go left, right, or to stay put. Ask Ray Clemens, Peter Shilton, Iker Casilas, Vincent Enyeama, et al. The will tell you that on those occasions, they usually take a gamble. "I gambled and went the wrong way," said Clemens after an FA Cup final in the late 70s, a match decided by a solitary goal scored from the penalty spot. But he had saved several penalties in his glittering career, and in all of them, he took a gamble. Such is life. Sometimes we gamble and it doesn't pay off. Sometimes it does, and we reap the benefits. That doesn't make us gamblers though. But the fact remains that we engage in this, and will continue to do this everyday of our lives; in our career decisions (choosing one job offer over others), in our business, relationships or marriage, etc. ...
World Cup 2014 will be specials says Nigeria stopper Vincent Enyeama
12 FACTS GOTTEN FROM THE NIGERIA/ ETHIOPIA MATCH: -It is experience that wins matches and not dribbling and running without purpose.Ethiopi a take note. -Nigeria played to qualify so they can be forgiven for their haphazard play. -Musa is the flop of the match in my opinion.Oduamad i should have been used instead. Now i know why he is no longer playing full 90minutes for CSKA MOSCOW. -Ogenyi Onazi is improving by each match.Truly deserved the Man of the Match award. -This present crop of Ethiopian players should be kept together. They are realy good but need to be more clinical at goal. -I don't see any player beating Vincent Enyeama at the moment. His form is over- excellent. I hope this continues till the World Cup. -Obinna Nsofor's goal really made a statement to Stephen Keshi. What a ferocious freekick that was!He will definitely be a great super- sub. -Now i realise the reason Moses was loaned to Liverpool. Why playing with the ball in the 18-yard box? -I think Supersport analysts have an agenda against N ...
Nigeria vs Ethiopia: Eagles to Start with an All-Europe-Based Cast Chelsea FC defender Kenneth Omeruo is set to reclaim his place in the Eagles' starting eleven against Ethiopia on November 16, 2013, Saturday, in Calabar. A 20-year-old defender has been sidelined by a shoulder injury, which he suffered at the Fifa Confederations Cup in Brazil, and Warri Wolves skipper Azubuike Egwuekwe has deputised in his absence. Omeruo partnered Godfrey Oboabona when Nigeria won a third AFCON title in February 2013. Omeruo's change will effectively mean, Nigeria will start with an all-Europe-based cast. Otherwise, it will be a familiar Eagles line-up by Keshi on Saturday. Stand-in skipper Vincent Enyeama , who has posted 11 clean sheets for his French Lique 1 side Lille this season, will retain his number 1 shirt against Ethiopia. Full back positions will be manned by Celtic utility player Efe Ambrose and Elderson Echiejile. Ogenyi Onazi will pair Mikel Obi in the heart of the midfield while Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa ...
Super Eagles set to make their landing in Brazil. The Nigeria Super Eagles are set to take on the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia tomorrow,November 16,to seal their place among the 32 nations that will fly their nations flag in a "soccer world war in Brazil" in the summer of 2014. That journey that began in 2011, with several matches played will finally come to a joyous end tomorrow as the Eagles soar to make a final landing in Brazil at the expense of the Ethiopians who are looking to make their debut appearance at the World Cup finals.Nigeria on the other hand is about to make it's fifth appearance at the global soccer tournament that features only once every year. This is a match with every thing at stake for both teams.Who can forget the extraordinary celebration that erupted when Nigerian goaltender,Vincent Enyeama miscalculated the trajectory of the volley kick from Ethiopian danger man Adane Girma. BBC Sport: By Piers Edwards BBC Sport Nigeria survived a scare in Addis Ababa as the African Champions rallied to beat Ethiopia 2-1 in the opening leg of their World Cup play-off. The hosts were the superior team for the first hour and led after 56 minutes as Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama misjudged a cross from Behailu Assefa. Nigeria, who were not at their best, equalised through Taofeek Chukwma's ferocious drive after 67 minutes. Chukwama then won and scored a penalty late on to secure the win. The match was in the 90th minute when Aynalem Hailu needlessly brought the Nigerian down, allowing the England-based striker to coolly slot home a decisive goal. "Ethiopia's play scared us in the first half but we showed why we are the African Champions in the second half - that's what makes the difference," assistant coach Daniel Amokachi told BBC Sport. Bidding to qualify for their fifth World Cup in six attempts, Stephen Keshi's side grew stronger as the game wore on and could have led after 77 minutes a ...

GOV. OWELLE ROCHAS OKOROCHA AND COMRADE KENETH EMELU, REAPPOINTED AS COMMISSIONER FOR YOUTHS/SPORTS DEVELOPMENT, IMO STATE_THE MATTERS ARISING. By Ambrose Nwaogwugwu Since the announcement of the much anticipated lists of new appointed commissioners and SAs was made available to Imolites, there has been some sort of uproar from the public as it touches their different perceptions and ideologies, some have been muttering some words of disaffection and many other disgruntled fellows has never seized to make known of their discontentment with the new appointees, it is however genuine and normal as humans to feel short-changed because of lost of expectations ranging from group interests or personal ones. As for me, one might be tempted to know where my own concern is coming from? What is my own point of complain?, well, what prompted this article could only be traced back to the former expectation range as I outline it above_the group interest. As the theme of this article implies, I have come to raise so ...

2014 World Cup *** Eagles disappoint Keshi on November 13, 2013 / in Sports 12:35 am Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi was left fuming after only 15 out of the 25 invited players turned up for the opening day of training on Tuesday. The Super Eagles began preparations for the second leg of their 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia at the U J Esuene Stadium in Calabar, and Keshi was not pleased at the turnout. “I am not happy at all,” he told “We talked about this and everyone was expected to be here today(yesterday). “But maybe because of flight issues, some people are not here and it will destabilize our program.” With Nosa Igiebor ruled out with injury, Keshi expected to see 24 players in Calabar on Tuesday afternoon. And the former captain warned that Wednesday was cut-off date. “Anybody who is not here by Wednesday training, is out,” he said. : 1. Vincent Enyeama 11 clean sheets in 13 games, 2. Morgan D Sanctis 9 clean sheets in 12 games. -27
After a thorough review of the video of the 1st leg match between Nigeria and Ethiopia, I honestly believe that Ethiopia's 1st official goal against Nigeria was due to poor goal keeping on the part of Vincent Enyeama. In the second leg match, I honestly think Austin Ejide should be the keeper. At this stage of the competition for a place at the 2014 World Cup we cannot afford school-boy goal keeping errors. Stephen Keshi.
Super Eagles and Lille of France goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama on Saturday night stretched his record of consecutive clean sheets as his team forced out a goalless draw with Guingamp at Stade du Roudourou. Enyeama’s heroics have thus seen Lille move up to second on the Ligue 1 standings despite the stalemate. In the Week 13 fixtures, Lionel Mathis was sent off late on for the hosts, but neither side could find a winning goal. Lille came close to an opener just after the half-hour mark when a cross found its way to the edge of the box, but Jonathan Delaplace’s low strike was deflected just wide of the near post and into the side-netting. The visitors had a brilliant chance to take the lead just before the break, but Salomon Kalou managed to send his header wide from just four yards out. The hosts were forced to play the final eight minutes of the match with 10 men, as Mathis was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card. The point lifts Lille outright above third-placed AS Monaco and ...
