Victor Mhleli Ntoni (1947 - 2013) was born in Langa, Cape Town. He was a self taught musician before he received a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1976. Among his notable achievements, Ntoni co-founded the Afro Cool Concept band in 1989 and received a nomination for the 2004 South African Music Awards SAMA and scored as well as arranged the music in the book The South African Songbook -- SA Folklore Music .

a legend has fallen today and what a beautiful day it has been - bra Victor Ntoni (i started liking Bra Vick when i saw him play this giant bass guitar as i laaitie, grew to appreciate his genius and wisdom, got to hang out with him in hillbrow days, worked with him in studios in Yeoville with laurence matshiza, shared drinks and got to break bread with him, sipped from his deep intelligence, got sent around by him, laughed and cried when he really started getting hopeles about the the arts/jazz in our land/world - later met his beautiful daughter Nandi and since made friends and always asked 'Howz bra Vik?). these are sad times and this further make me think about Ntate Philip Tabane & 'Bafo' Madala Kunene among our living legends! with Love Bra Vik, so long ...Faya
