it is a sad day for all of us at SSGS as the great educationist, administrator, social reformer, writer, poet and critic of par excellence, Janab Dr. Saiyid Hamid Sahab passed away recently. He lived his life to the full. Born in 1920, Dr. Hamid served as an able administrator, and was attached with various government departments and ministries and was the ex-Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, his alma mater. He also served as the Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University and ex-Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia. Dr. Hamid was the last surviving ICS officer in India. He was recently conferred Sir Ross Masood Lifetime Achievement Award 2014 for Excellence in Leadership, Education, Community and Public Service by the Vice President of India. Mr. Javed Mohsin, Electrical Engineer (Supply) at the Aligarh Muslim University passed away today following a severe heart attack at his residence. His burial will take place after Maghrib prayer. AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah conveyed his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved family. AMU Pro-Vice Chancellor, Brigadier (Retd.) S. Ahmad Ali and the University Registrar Group Captain (Retd.) Shahrukh Shamshad reached at the residence of Mr. Mohsin at Medical College Road to express grief and conveyed their condolences to the family. Born on August 31, 1954, Javed Mohsin did his B. Sc. Engineering in Electrical from Z. H. College of Engineering and Technology. He joined the University in 1994 and served the University as Electrical Engineer for twenty years. The supply and maintenance sections of Electricity Department were closed to pay homage to the departed soul.

I strongly condemn his visit and also to the Vice Chancellor who has permitted him in Kennedy. To protest it I am bycotting his visit & warning Mr. Shah if he do not cancel his Kennedy Auditorium programme we the Alig fraternity across the globe may cancel our visit in the ALUMNI HOME COMING WEEK in the University. ALIGARH February 15: The Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has awarded the scholarship of Rs. Twenty four thousand each to three Engineering students of the Aligarh Muslim University in the chamber of the Vice Chancellor, Lt. General Zameer Uddin Shah. Ms. Somya Kant, Chief Manager (Finance) of the Rural Electrification Corporation presented the scholarship to Mr. Raquib Imam, B. Tech. (Mechanical), Mr. Dhruv Kumar, B. Tech. (Civil) and Mr. Shivam Garg, B. Tech. (Computer). On this occasion, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Mohibullah and DSW, Prof. Anis Ismail were also present. The University Women’s Polytechnic, Aligarh Muslim University organized a two-day workshop on “E-Commerce and Applications (ECA) - 2014” here today. Presiding over the inaugural session, Brig (Retd) Syed Ahmad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, AMU said that E-Commerce is an emerging and growing subject. He said that in our country, due to the lack of resources and shortage of electricity, the e-commerce is not as successful as in western countries. However, there are some remedies to overcome the hurdles in the way of e-commerce. He also inaugurated the newly established Electronics Simulation Lab at the Women’s Polytechnic. Dr S Kazim Naqvi, Additional Director, CIT, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi delivered the keynote address. A PhD student of Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University is fighting for life at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi. Abdul Raoof KM, a resident of Mohammad Habib Hall, who received serious head injuries in an accident near his hall on July 27 last, was referred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital after initial treatment at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College. He is lying unconscious and on ventilator in the ICU of Sir Ganga Ram hospital for a week now. Belonging to a financially weak background, it is impossible for the family of Abdul Raoof KM to meet the high treatment bills of the hospital, which runs into an average of Rs. 35-40 thousand per day. Prof. Mahmood S. Khan, Provost, Mohammad Habib Hall said that the Vice Chancellor had sanctioned a sum of Rs. 2.5 lakh for his treatment but the amount proved insufficient in view of his prolonged stay in the hospital. He said that a serious head surgery has been conducted on Abdul Raoof and he would need about Rs. 8-10 lakh to meet out the hospital expense ...

The Aligarh Muslim University Murshidabad Centre organized a One Day Workshop on "Life Skills and Personality Development". The Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameeruddin Shah presided over the programme. Addressing the participants, the Vice Chancellor said that one of the biggest drawbacks with AMU students is that they lack self confidence.
