On and off flurries at HQ. Looks like the closer you are to the bay, the more likely you are to see some flurries and snow showers. East of the bay, even more likely. Lower eastern shore toward OC will get in on some decent snow later and may pick up a few inches. This may turn into another blizzard up toward Boston again. My sister and brother in-law may pick up a few inches down toward Va Beach too! Yup, this is yet ANOTHER miss for us in central MD, especially the Bmore to DC to Naptown area. My forecast for this week, any storm that approaches will miss central Md to the north, south, east, and west...unless its rain lol. I have gotten more gray and lost more hair this winter than any other including last year which was the worst of my lifetime. You don't even know what a snowstorm would do for my spirits right about now. I've been known to do spontaneous things During Christmas while visiting in Pa for example I drove from Jersey Shore to New Jersey and back the same day. Why? I was curious where I-80 began on the East Coast. Well pulled one last night that might have topped that one. Drove from Va Beach to Ocean City MD stopped at the casino (wow not at all what I expected. A room full of people in their 60s and 70s playing slot machines ) didn't stay long at all. Drove to the Oceanfront to see what that was like. Empty as in most of the hotels were closed. Nothing opened. Goodbye ocean city. Ok drove back up US 50 to Salisbury got on US 13 north into Delaware to Seaford decided to turn back and head back to Va Beach Got back home oh 2 am or so. I need a hobby lol

Went to new Once Upon A Child in Va Beach today. Awesome!!! The store blows Newport News out of the water! It is bigger, cleaner, waaay more organized and actually has a 3 T section. :) I sold some stuff and they helped me bring bins in AND they carried the stuff they didn't buy back to the car for me. This will be a boon to the residents of both counties who work full-time in Norfolk/Va Beach, as well as the counties themselves. If you consider it, those residents travel to go work where the steady, well-paying jobs are located. They earn their money, and then bring it back home to inject it into our local economy. Does anyone out there have numbers on the economic impact of these circumstances? There is no doubt in my mind that it is, in fact, a positive one. And think about the numbers… let’s say a person works 24 days a month across the bay. In that time, just in tolls, a person will pay $408. That’s $4,896.00 per year – not including the $3.40/gallon gas they have to buy. The new commuter toll turns that cost into $2880.00/year, or $240 per month. That is more than a 40% reduction in cost to the commuter†...

Anyone who knows me knows I love the stage. Usually you have to drag me off the stage kicking and screaming, but tonight was the first time I have to admit I was terrified. I never played a venue like the Sandler Center before, and I never had to play in front of the greatest talents of Va Beach before. Borderline Crazy, Mike Profit, Gangstas of Love etc, they were all awesome!!! Im am greatful I had a chance to play with 2 great talents tonight, Danica Delorean and Robin Lugo. This was our first show together and I think it was a great success, and Im looking foward to playing more in the future. Thanx to Mark and Ali for coming. The cause we played for was to help victims of Hurricane Sandy, we are all Americans, help your brothers and sisters out if you can. Thank you

Another miracle of sorts on Tiger Drive at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake Va. It's the second round of the eastern region playoffs. Just over a minute to play. Smith trails 28-27 and has the ball, 57 yards for the go ahead score. 4 plays later with 34 seconds remaining Smith takes the lead 34-28. But this game is far from over. Salem High School from Va Beach has a good kick return and 1 play later is down to the Smith 30 yd line. After a sack Salem now has 4th and 24 from the Oscar Smith 42 yd line with only 6 seconds to play. It wasn't hard to figure out a Hail Mary pass was coming. The pass was one of those perfect spirals with a rainbow arc that traveled 50 yds in the air. I mean, I know NYC and the surrounding area thinks its the center of the universe, but if Va Beach and the entire tidewater area got hit, would it be anymore than a blurb on the NBC Nightly News? Thinking back to all the trick or treat nights over the years. I think this is year 20 for me as a Mom. Several early Halloweens John was away on TDY while we were in Germany. I also remember when John was recruiting in VA Beach, the first time, and he had to go away for a recruiting conference. Who plans such a thing on Halloween night? My sister came down for that Halloween. Karyann was a black cat and all we could find were black tights that were way too big for her. They hung way down past her feet. I'll never forget Kevin's first Halloween, in Frankfurt, Germany and spending time at the Levault's house. Good times.

So VA Beach actually has a law on the books regarding Halloween Trick-or-Treating: it begins at dusk and ends at 8 p.m. for children 12 years of age and younger only!!! Well we made it through Sandy. Boring 3 days, but we faired so much better than N.J. ,N.Y.C. & the other states effected by the storm. VA. Beach did have areas that flooded, but those are the areas that flood during any bad storms. So we were very lucky.

It looks like this area was hit this past weekend. There were Two more bikes stolen in Hampton, both in apartments buildings. That makes three, that I know of, this past weekend. The apartments building were side by side. If you own a motorcycle LOCK IT UP somehow. In a 2005 study, Va Beach, Norfolk, & Portsmouth were in the top 10 for motorcycle theft.

It's the end of the trip...heading home to va beach

The old PA Canal behind my apt. did not flood this year and I remained high and dry. The power went off for an hour at 5:30 am Tuesday. Got to use the hurricane lampps Mom gave me; warm, glowing flames brought back memories of Hurricane Agnes and past blizzards in Gratz. The trains to/from NYC and the planes at HIA are noisly running again. The quiet three days of Sandy were only interrupted by wind gusts. All seems to be back to normal again in Harrisburg area. Heading to VA Beach with Christine on Friday to see if Angela and family fared well and to hunt for a winter apt. I hope everyone is safe and secure again.

She went through 12 weeks of mental and physical stress and survived through the hot Norfolk weather and early morning runs. She grew up a scaredy cat but was always a taddle tail! From her days at Gibbsboro School to her field hockey endurance she learned from Eastern HS, she has survived! Thanks to her Dean Liverman at Virginia Wesleyan College who encouraged her to take the step in the Criminal Justice Field. This is the beginning of her journey to making the world safer. Thank you God for being by her side and continuing to protect her every day. We love you Ree Ree!

I thank God for my family in Va that made my 48th birthday a blast!!! Awesome birthday that started on Saturday in Lancaster Pa. for 2 days and ended in Va. Beach Va at Joe's Crab Shack which then moved to my mom's house for cake and ice cream!!! You all are the best!!

Went on tour for the first time ever, with the first choir I've ever joined. We went to New Jersey, Maryland, and Va Beach. It was so fun. They gave us tons of free food, and we stayed in a suite overlooking the beach. Nicole's parents took great care of us and the churches we went to were warm and welcoming. The glen burnie high school students were great too. (they had a keyboard lab room!)

Well the sun has found its way to Va. Beach. It is a beautiful morning here...the ocean is very happy and smooth with lots of happy surfers out there, the walkers are walking their little hearts out and I am thinking it is time to get the bicycle out for a great ride up the board walk!!! Yea!

My fav halloween memory: When i was in elementary school, we lived in VA Beach and my mom dressed up as a bum (like the ones in cartoons that would hitch a ride in train cars) and go around to every class rm to pass out candy...being 8 or 9 at the time, i thought it was awesome! Luv u mom!

There is a World Wide Photo Walk happening this Saturday, October 13 from 10 to noon starting in Portsmouth on Water Street, taking the ferry to Norfolk and then having lunch at Max and Ermas at MacArthur Mall.
