In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: "A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship. ![]() Well, as Rreagon would say"...there you go again" Another Republicant LIE (underscore).Q: What’s the deal with Prof. Joseph Olson’s "unreported stats" from the 2008 election? A: This chain e-mail is a hoax. The "statistics" are grossly incorrect, and Prof. Olson says he didn’t write it. Full Answer First, Joseph Olson is a professor at Hamline (not Hemline) University School of Law in St. Paul, Minn. None of what appears in this e-mail was written by him. He has been denying authorship of this old hoax since earlier versions first cropped up after the 2000 election. Most recently he posted a disclaimer about the 2008 version on his university profile page: Olson: There is an e-mail floating around the internet dealing with the 2008 Obama/McCain election and the 2000 Bush/Gore election, remarks of a Scottish philosopher named Alexander Tyler, etc. Part of it is attributed to me. It is entirely BOGUS as to my authorship. I’ve been trying to kill it since December 2000.

It should account for its actions. This case gives us an opportunity to do that,” Jameel Jaffer, deputy legal director with the American Civil Liberties Union, said in a press call. The suit, (.pdf) is being litigated by the Center for Constitutional Rights and the ACLU. It seeks unspecified damages and highlights the government’s so-called unmanned “targeted killing” program. An overarching consideration was which of the party’s candidates could we see occupying the White House, and there was no question that Romney was qualified for the job. Now, in the closing days of the general election campaign, the question is which of the two contenders deserves to be the next president of the United States. Both President Barack Obama and Governor Romney are superbly qualified. Both are graduates of the Harvard University Law School who have distinguished themselves in government, in public service and in private life. Both are devoted husbands and fathers. The audience went wild! How, they wondered, could the redneck top that?! The clock started again and the redneck sat in silent thought. ![]() The Justice Department has decided not to ask the Supreme Court to review a controversial federal appeals court decision that said employees may not be prosecuted under a federal anti-hacking statute for simply violating their employer's computer use policy. The 9-2 decision in April by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals dealt a blow to the Obama administration, which is invoking the same theory to prosecute alleged WikiLeaks leaker Bradley Manning. The case concerns the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act , which was passed in 1984 to enhance the government's ability to prosecute hackers who accessed computers to steal information or to disrupt or destroy computer functionality. At least, that's what the San Francisco-based appeals court said was the act's purpose. The government, however, has interpreted the anti-hacking provisions to include activities such as violating a website's terms of service or a company's computer usage policy, a position the court ruled means 'millions of unsuspecting individuals ...
![]() My first born son, Cory Rosenberger just left my house after spending the summer with me. It is likely the last time he will actually live in my home. He will graduate from St. Thomas University Law School in May and strike out on his own. It is a weird feeling...happy, sad, proud, anxious for him - although I KNOW he will be successful - and a few emotions that I can't name. I have a whole afternoon with nothing to do but be emotional. Take it, dear God. Take my sweet baby into your arms and hold him tight.

![]() I'm currently armpit-deep in constructing a PowerPoint presentation entitled "Annuities 101" for a lecture I'm giving to an LL.M class at Washington University Law School. I've found that attorneys often know very little about how annuities work, and even less about how they're taxed. It's not their fault, really. Rarely do Law Schools offer any training on that subject. That's unfortunate, given how very easy it is to get a client in trouble by making an inappropriate ownership or beneficiary designation. On the other hand, I should be grateful, as that keeps me busy as a consultant or expert witness.

In 1975, he became the last undisputed descendant of Lincoln when his sister, "Peggy" Beckwith, died without children. A disputed descendant, Timothy Lincoln Beckwith, was born to Robert Beckwith's then wife, Annemarie Hoffman Beckwith, in 1968. Biography-Beckwith was born in Riverside, Illinois, to Jessie Harlan Lincoln and Warren Beckwith. As a young adult, he showed little interest in his schooling, passing two uneventful years at his grandfather Robert Todd Lincoln's previous boarding school, Phillips Exeter Academy. He then entered prep school in Washington, D.C., and a military academy in New York. He did not attend college, yet was said to have earned a degree from the National University Law School (founded in 1869 and merged with George Washington University Law School in 1954) as an attorney. He would subvert the American judicial process by implementing the International Criminal Court. It will ultimately be used against American citizens. Professor Charles Rice of Notre Dame University Law School has stated that we will be confronted by “a monster” that effectively “repudiates the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the Declaration of Independence.” The Law of the Sea Treaty will create another international bureaucracy that will limit the sovereignty of the United States and impose globalist regulations. “The autonomy of the United States is threatened if we allow our domestic laws to be crafted by an international body that is not accountable to the American people,”
![]() Duke University Law School has done it again. Exonerated man that was wrongly imprisoned for more than 17 years for a murder he didn't commit. I'm not against the law, there are some hard working DA's and law enforcement officers and investigators who do there job professionally trying to protect us every day. Then you have those who knowingly have information that could exonerate and individual but their motives is Win a case regardless; there motives most of the time is the political future they see for themselves in the future, maybe the DA job which is by election or a future judge by election, so they want those WINS as proof they are a strong advocate for the people and their record for convictions is evident they are against crime. So at the end of the day after they have sentenced another innocent individual the crooked DA's and Investigators go home to the wife and family and enjoy a nice meal, tomorrow starts another day. ![]() This is why the next election is so important !! So how long do you think it will be before we can "change the Court?" The Right has been appointing the youngest justices they can for decades now. The most likely seats to come up any time soon are (in approximate order) Ginsberg, Kennedy, Scalia, and Breyer. Barring Obama's appointments, the least right-wing partisan Justices. Roberts is very, very likely to be Chief Justice for the rest of my life (he's a few years younger than I am and the actuarial tables for justices is heavily skewed towards longevity.) If Romney takes office in January, there's a very good chance that he will end up appointing someone fresh from Liberty University Law School as Ginsberg's replacement. (Well, maybe not all that fresh. Probably around 40 years old.) There's a respectable chance of also replacing Breyer, for a 7-2 Court. Add in the nontrivial prospect that Scalia might decide to retire early for the good of the Party and let someone 20 or more years his junior take his ...
