PEACE, ENDURING PEACE IS WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW Remarks by President Obama in Address to the United Nations General Assembly United Nations New York, New York 10:12 A.M. EDT President Obama: Mr. President, Mr. Secretary General, fellow delegates, ladies and gentlemen: It is a great honor for me to be here today. I would like to talk to you about a subject that is at the heart of the United Nations -- the pursuit of peace in an imperfect world. War and conflict have been with us since the beginning of civilizations. But in the first part of the 20th century, the advance of modern weaponry led to death on a staggering scale. It was this killing that compelled the founders of this body to build an institution that was focused not just on ending one war, but on averting others; a union of Sovereign States that would seek to prevent conflict, while also addressing its causes. No American did more to pursue this objective than President Franklin Roosevelt. He knew that a victory in war was not enough. As he s ...

September 30, 2014. “The presence of hundreds of Americans of Kashmiri heritage in front of the White House is the expression of solidarity with the oppressed people of Jammu & Kashmir,” said Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness. Our message is loud and clear that the people of Kashmir demand what was pledged to them by both India and Pakistan and guaranteed by the Security Council, with the unequivocal endorsement of the United States, namely demilitarization of Kashmir and a free vote organized impartially to ascertain popular will. Fai added that unresolved Kashmir dispute is a rebuke to the international community for its inaction. The United States paved the way for freedom around the world and the United States can help the people of Kashmir achieve peace, freedom and self-determination. June 17, 2014. Bolivia. The American and European media are doing everything they can to black this news out. But it’s not going to stay a secret for long. As of this weekend, there’s a new New World Order on Earth and its enemy is the United States, the EU, the UN Security Council and the world’s shadow government led by the IMF and WTO. This new alliance of poor countries wouldn’t be much of a threat, except it includes two-thirds of the world’s nations including China and India. It’s a sad day for the American people when their government and state-sponsored news industry blacks out such an important news story. Americans actually have to rely on outlets like the Havana Times in Cuba, The Times of India, and United Nations Press Releases. There’s a reason this news is being censored across the West. And it’s only the latest global news story over the past two weeks on this subject blacked out from the American people. Read on to find out why. End of the New World Order When the richest ...

UN High Commissioner For Human Rights Navi Pillay: "When a government fails to protect its own citizens, then its the responsible of the international community to do so, thats the International Law. I heard the last speaker to say its politically motivated because I called for an inquiry so soon. We had enough evidence, we don't wait for 40,000 to be killed. For instance in Gaza, 1,600 were killed in the attack and in less then a week, a Commission of Inquiry was set up. In this case the Human Rights Council and the United Nations, the Secretary General waited almost 5 years for Sri Lanka to take internal action hold an investigation and render justice for victims. I’m now entrusted to be in charge of the investigation, and I will definitely seek the cooperation of the Sri Lankan government. They were very good during my visit to Sri Lanka. Abstract The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) is about to expire in 2015, debates on what should follow are taking places across the globe both within the NGO circles and policy makers. As the Secretary General of UN indicated in his first annual report on this subject, work on the post-2015 agenda should be grounded in a critical evaluation of how the MDGs have worked as a framework, identifying what has worked well and areas for improvement, especially in response to current development challenges. Youth participation is a crucial fundamental phenomenon for the post-2015 agenda. Advocates of youth estimated that about 133 mil ...

The mass media does not cover their meetings and the members are sworn to secrecy. The Bilderberg Group has never disclosed why they meet or what they talk about. However, there have been substantial leaks that reveal that the group has discussed political maneuvers years, even decades, before they actually come into fruition. Playing the role of the Secretary General of the United Nations (UNSG) for the last two (2) days was a little stressful but for the most part educational & enlightening. Initiating and managing multi-party negotiations within the community of nations, and chairing the Emergency Session to Reform the United Nation Security Council to be more effective and inclusive while at the same time attempting to reach a resolution is indeed challenging. Two Lessons learnt from this role modeling exercise is learning what goes on in multi-party negotiations and also cooperative leadership.
Syria needs $6.5b The UN, facing its “worst humanitarian crisis” in decades, is seeking a whopping $6.5 billion (4.7 billion euros) to aid Syrians affected by war at a donor’s conference in Kuwait City Wednesday. The UN has described the appeal as the largest ever in its history for a single humanitarian emergency. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will chair the one-day ministerial-level Second International Pledging Conference for Syria, which will be opened by Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. UN Secretary General and Regional Humanitarian Coordinator Nigel Fisher has told Kuwait’s official KUNA news agency that the funds will be used to aid some 13.4 million Syrians whom the United Nations estimates will be affected by the Syrian civil war by the end of 2014. The figure is higher than the original 10 million people announced by the United Nations seven months ago. The Spaceman's Offer. One might wonder why the late President Ike didn't take the offer that was given to us for help by the people from Venus. Here are some of the reasons why he didn't take them up on the offer for help. .His last meeting with the President did not reap any lasting results. He wanted to let the world know of Val's pro- posed plan, but the Secretary of Defense, the head of the Central Intelligence Agency and the Military Chiefs of Staff were opposed to his suggestion. The President attempted to effect a joint meeting before the General Assembly of the United Nations. But this plan too was rejected. He was informed that the U.N. would receive a special "Press Release" in the form of a memorandum to the Secretary General no later than February, 1966. These leaders of the U.S. Gov- ernment argued long into the night, fearing that if the people of this nation learned of the plan Val was offering, they might choose to follow him instead of them. When a man feels that his personal peace and tr ...
(SANA)_Syria slammed the outrageous duplicity of some United Nations Security Council permanent member countries for their support to terrorism in Syria. Syria's condemnation came in identical letters that the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry addressed to the UN Secretary General, President of the United Nations Security Council and the High Commissioner for Human Rights concerning the new butchery committed by terrorist groups affiliated to Jabhat al-Nusra, Liwa al-Islam and the so-called ''Islamic Front'' in Adra city in Damascus countryside. More than 100 citizens have been slaughtered on December 11 in Adra city; a safe town hosting citizens displaced from neighboring areas, the letters said. The letters said terrorists have burned down the homes of state workers in the town, shot dead others and mutilated their bodies, and held many others at the city's bakery after rigging it with explosives. The terrorists stoles scores of tons of flour and wheat from the locals in the town and kidnapped big number ...

But as Guy Horton reports from Burma, she is now actively colluding with the Burmese military’s violent campaigns against minority ethnic and religious groups. One morning in January this year I stood near the front line between the Kachin Independence and Burma armies. The former was defending some of the last remnants of its territory. The latter was inflicting a massive attack consisting of tens of thousands of troops, supported by helicopter gunships and jet fighter bombers under the direction of the Supreme Command. It was a systematic onslaught. The sound of the Secretary General of the United Nations welcoming a ceasefire on the radio was punctuated by the sound of heavy mortar shells. There was nowhere to run. The Chinese border, a row of bamboos 400 yards away, was closed. Two young boys behind me were preparing to defend their home made bunker ...

The perplexing question though:How relevant is the world body to the exigencies of the unprecedented challenges? Well,it is a matter of conjecture. To be able to determine its relevance or lack thereof,we must rewind history to ascertain its purpose in the first place, and only then we can make valid deductive arguments to the effect. Breaking news at the United Nations: the Dutch Ambassador and Secretary General Ban Ki Moon just presided over the opening of a bicycle rack
So, millions of people take to the streets in Egypt to protest their "democratically elected" president, a member of the "Muslim Brotherhood", a radical fundamentalist Muslim group that has been described as the "political version of Hamas/Al Qaeda", and the Egyptian military steps in, suspends the constitution, arrests the president, issues arrest warrants for key Muslim Brotherhood party leaders and appoints a new interim president. But Barack Obama, the Prime Ministers of the UK, Germany and Israel, the Secretary General of the United Nations, and just about everyone else refuses to call it a "military coup" (which I'd exactly what it was), for no better reason than it being against the Constitution of the US (and every foreign government entity that based it's own constitution on ours) to give foreign aid to a country that has had it's democratically elected leadership ousted via military coup. Really? Foreign aid/money is what we're focusing on? Never mind that millions of people were being oppre ...
*Strasbourg/CoE/ACM/- "Foster Democracy around the World", both by "strengthening the ability of citizens to Participate in the decisions affecting their lives", (as UNO's Secretary General said with a vocabulary surprisingly close to "EuroFora"s initial project of +1997-2007+), and by "advancing Development", is a "Focus.. in the coming Years" for the United Nations, which also "ask" from the PanEuropean Organization of Human Rights, Democracy and Rule of Law, the CoE, to "Help all those who face Difficulties" in Democratic Transitions "all over the World", as the International Organization's Head, Ban Ki Moon, stressed in his keynote Speech at the official opening of the 1st World Forum for Democracy organized in Strasbourg, launching a multitude of parallel debates on various topical aspects of Democratic issues, among Government Officials, Politicians, Experts, Civil Society representatives, and simple Citizens, throughout 6 Days all over the City. Wynter Kabimba Meets Palestinian Deputy Prime Minister Palestine's Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Ziyad Abu Amro says his country is indebted to President Michael Sata and Zambia for the warm relations between the two countries. Speaking when he met visiting Patriotic Front Secretary General and Minister of Justice Wynter Kabimba in the Palestinian capital of Ramallah, Dr. Amro hoped the visit marked the rejuvenation of the 36 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations that have existed between the two countries. And Mr Kabimba said that Zambia has always maintained unbroken diplomatic relations with Palestine since 1977 when the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) opened its embassy in Lusaka. He said Zambia was proud to have voted with the rest of the world at the United Nations to grant Palestine the status of a "non-member observer state" last year. Meanwhile the PF Secretary General held a meeting with the Commissioner of International Relations of the ruling Palestine National Liberation Movement (F ...
Lavrov: "The Secretary-General of the United Nations did not respond to the Syrian request to investigate allegations of chemicals use."
04 Jun 2013 04:00| Written by Guy Horton    “The last three years saw no tangible changes, especially in the area of the rule of law and the peace process. The reform started in 2010, now we have to ask the question: 'Have we got any tangible results so far?’.” Aung San Suu Kyi, May 27, 2013.   CONTRIBUTOR—I woke up one morning at the end of January in northern Kachin State listening to the birds singing in the morning mist. The President of Burma [Myanmar] had announced on prime time TV the previous evening that a ceasefire would begin at 6.00 am that morning. His call was backed by a unanimous vote of support by the Lower House of Parliament. I believed him. A young Kachin soldier also believed him. He raised a white flag, stood up in his trench, smiled, waved and was shot dead through the head. Within hours mortar bombs were raining down. Meanwhile in New York the Secretary General of the United Nations was warmly welcoming the ceasefire.    This is the truth but it is not what people wa ...

The silence on corruption Written by Mataafa Keni Lesa Editor Samoa Observer 10-12-2011 13:30 Today is International Anti-Corruption day. Yes ladies and gentlemen, in a world where there is a day for everything (or just about), the United Nations (UN) has allocated 9 December as the day to raise awareness about the issue. Corruption, as we all know, is evil. It robs people of money and resources that otherwise could have been used to improve their lives. As a matter of fact if our opinion were asked, wed say International Anti-Corruption day is the most important of all the days that are celebrated and commemorated throughout the year. Why? Corruption impoverishes entire populations. It widens the divide between the rich and poor, breeds poverty and leads to strife and conflict. Where there is corruption, there is no peace and freedom. Strife and hardship rule unabated. The words of UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon are worth thinking about. Says he; Corruption afflicts all countries, undermining social p ...
"I am especially honoured to introduce today's lecturer, Kofi Annan, the Former Secretary General of the United Nations, Nobel Laureate, and global peacemaker. "I believe that in today's world, few individuals have had as brilliant a diplomatic career as him. He is a remarkable diplomat who is not only able to conceive the terms for negotiated solutions to the crises he's faced, but also very often he is able to convince the protagonists at all political levels to implement his advice. His success is due not only to the finesse of his analysis but also from the highly personal way by which he knows how to touch the hearts and minds. To clarify my point, I would say, by his thinking and the manner in which he analyses problems, by his ability to identify the right balance between each other's positions and marginalize the false arguments and unacceptable extremes, he has brought to many countries a new philosophy of diplomacy. (Google translation) "As you know, Kofi Annan retired from his official post six ...

UN Women say Gender Equality is criteria for success of vision: Nigeria needs to ensure equal participation of women in economic, social and political activities, if it is to achieve the objectives of Vision 20:2020, a United Nations official said. The Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of UN Women, Michelle Bachelet, gave the insight when she visited the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, on Friday in Abuja. “If you want to get to 20 in 20:20, you need to ensure 50:50 - that is equal participation of women and men. So, that explains why we believe in economic empowerment of women and gender budgeting because sometimes you have a lot of good ideas or intensions but no budget allocated. “And usually also gender perspectives are not seen, some already believe that gender perspective is only about giving money targeting women." She congratulated Okonjo-Iweala for embarking on progra ...
Our lucky day! This was in our inbox today: Federal Bureau of Investigation 935 Pennsylvania Ave, NW Washington, DC 20535 Dear Beneficiary, Series of meetings have been held over the past 7 months with the secretary general of the United Nations Organization. This ended 3 days ago. It is obvious that you have not received your fund which is to the tune of Eight Million and Five Hundred Thousand United State Dollars ($8,500,000.00) due to past corrupt Governmental Officials who almost held the fund to themselves for their selfish reason and some individuals who have taken advantage of your fund all in an attempt to swindle your fund which has led to so many losses from your end and unnecessary delay in the receipt of your fund. The National Central Bureau of Interpol enhanced by the United Nations and Federal Bureau of Investigation have successfully passed a mandate to the current president of African Economic Controller Authorities (ECOWAS) to boost the exercise of clearing all foreign debts owed to you ...

Briefing to the Security Council by Jan Kubiš, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Afghanistan, 19 December 2012 Mr. President, esteemed members of the Security Council, I will shortly mark one year of representing the United Nations in Afghanistan. It is both a challenge and a privilege. From Kabul, the international media’s relentless depiction of Afghanistan almost solely as a place of conflict and terror is disconcerting. There are certainly problems and tragedy. I have met with those injured and bereaved. I have seen the stifling effect that fear and intimidation can have. However, Afghanistan today is about so much more. In my travels around 22 provinces this past year, I have seen girls and boys getting an education unthinkable a decade ago; bustling and industrious towns and villages; and slowly but increasingly capable Government institutions with Afghans determined to take their destiny into their own hands. Any transition is - by definition - a delicate period. Certainty and ...

LH On the Battle Front Who is Maurice Strong Who is Maurice Strong? From Classic Liberal Maurice Strong is someone you should know. After all, he's a major player in the bureaucratic move towards one world government. By Ronald Bailey, originally published in The National Review September 1, 1997. Mr. Bailey is also the author of Eco-Scam: The False Prophets of Ecological Apocalypse and The True State of the Planet. "THE survival of civilization in something like its present form might depend significantly on the efforts of a single man," declared The New Yorker. The New York Times hailed that man as the "Custodian of the Planet." He is perpetually on the short list of candidates for Secretary General of the United Nations. This lofty eminence? Maurice Strong, of course. Never heard of him? Well, you should have. Militia members are famously worried that black helicopters are practicing maneuvers with blue-helmeted UN troops in a plot to take over America. But the actual peril is more subtle. A small cadr ...
Chaos in DRC: UN peacekeepers and the “strategy of the Blue Angel.” By Patrick Mbeko On 14 July 1960, the Security Council passes a resolution in accordance with the wishes of the Congolese government, which asks Belgium to withdraw its troops from the territory of the Republic of Congo and authorizes the Secretary General of the UN, Dag Hammarskjöld, to provide technical military assistance to the Congolese government until Congolese armed forces are able to assume fully their responsibilities. The United Nations in the Congo (ONUC in its French acronym) was thus created. But instead of taking up the cause of the legitimate government of the country, the peacekeepers put the Congolese government on the same pedestal the secessionist province of Katanga supported by Belgium. In fact, the United Nations endorse a neo-colonial situation in Katanga. Instead of maintaining peace and restoring order, the UN peacekeepers worked on the destabilization of the Congolese government up to taking part in the *** ...

Remarks by Ambassador Susan E. Rice, U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations, At a Memorial Service for Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi at Abyssinian Baptist Church October 27, 2012 Good morning. Reverend Butts, Mr. Secretary General, Ambassador Tekeda, friends, ladies and gentlemen-- Last month, I was privileged to travel to Addis Ababa to join tens of thousands of fellow mourners as we paid our respects to Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and his family and laid him to rest in the sacred soil of his beloved Ethiopia. Our shock has faded, but our sorrow endures. Today, I come again both as a representative of the U.S. government and as a friend of a man I truly miss. First and foremost, the Meles I knew was profoundly human and down to earth. He was a devoted father and husband, a faithful friend, and proud leader of an ever proud people. He worked tirelessly, always inclined to assume the bulk of any burden himself. He could argue circles around almost anyone and make you feel wiser for the ...

“Can the state, which represents the whole of society and has the duty of protecting society, fulfill that duty by lowering itself to the level of the murderer, and treating him as he treated others? The forfeiture of life is too absolute, too irreversible, for one human being to inflict it on another, even when backed by legal process. And I believe that future generations, throughout the world, will come to agree.” – Kofi Annan, Ghanaian diplomat and Secretary General of the United Nations 1997-2007.

U.N. chief calls for end to fighting in Myanmar. (Reuters) - U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon called for an end to attacks by all parties in Myanmar on Thursday after receiving a letter from a rebel independence group in the country's Kachin State asking the United Nations to help end its conflict with the government. Ban's spokesman Martin Nesirky said the secretary-general had received a letter from the Kachin Independence Organization, the political wing of the Kachin Independence Army. The Kachin conflict resurfaced in June 2011, scuttling a 16-year truce and displacing an estimated 50,000 people. Myanmar, formerly called Burma, said last month it will choose a team of 50 peace negotiators led by a vice president to settle the conflict in Kachin State and bring all ethnic groups into the political fold ahead of 2015 elections. Myanmar's reformist President Thein Sein appealed to dozens of ethnic minority dissident or insurgent groups in August to start talks, which was one of the key conditions set by the West ...

Burma's Rohingya Muslims Is it not our duty to stand up and protest against the sufferings of Myanmar Muslims? Just go through the facts listed below you will get the answer to the above question. As of 2012, 800,000 Muslims (Rohingyas) live in Myanmar (Burma) and the government considers them as resident foreigners.
