Photograph: Darren Walsh/Chelsea FC via Getty Images The chairman of Al Wasl says the United Arab Emirates club have made a bid for Didier Drogba, but he expects the former Chelsea striker to sign with a Chinese club instead. Marwan bin Bayat would not say how much Al Wasl have offered Drogba, only that it was less than what has been offered by the Chinese team. Drogba has been linked to Shanghai Shenhua. Bin Bayat said Al Wasl, coached by Diego Maradona, is "definitely serious" about Drogba, but that the Ivorian striker "seems more interested in China". Maradona wants the club to bring in bigger names after a season in which it finished eighth in the 12-team UAE pro league.
Maradona wants Chelsea legend Drogba at Al Wasl Diego Maradona is making a move for Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. The Sun says Shanghai Shenhua say they have an agreement to sign the 34-year-old, who has left Chelsea on a free. But United Arab Emirates side Al Wasl, managed by Maradona, hope to persuade him to join them. They can match the £300,000-a-week wages the Chinese are willing to pay Drogba. And they hope that big donations to his charity will help their cause. Maradona said: “Who in the world would not want Drogba? Every team would love to have such a player in their ranks.” My take Thanks Maradona for your kind words. But Drogba, pls, don't accept this offer make u no go learn bad habits.
Maybe Diego Maradona should head back to Argentina, because things are not going well for him as he coaches the Al Wasl soccer team in the United Arab Emirates.
