Congress demands immediate resignation of Union Minister Nihalchand Meghwal over allegations of rape

Arun Jaitley, VK Singh, Uma Bharti, Kiran Rijiju, Kalraj Misra, Jewel Oraon… These are some Union ministers who are unable to work properly because former Congress ministers and MPs who have lost the recent elections are not vacating the bungalows that were allotted to them during the last term of the Lok Sabha. The minister who is perhaps the most hassled is Jaitley, who is preparing the Budget out of his own house in Kailash Colony, which is not designed to entertain a bevy of delegates that he must talk to at this stage. Gen VK Singh is finding it difficult to operate from Ashoka Hotel, which cannot cater for his ministry's needs. Uma Bharti is making do in a State guest house. Some ministers are putting up at their respective relatives' places. Some are adjusting in MP hostels. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tough image, he must unleash the police force on the losers to evict them from the premises that they are immorally still occupying. From Surajit Dasgupta's wall.
[Memorandum submitted by Hon’ble CM to Hon’ble PM] ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRAL UNIVERSITY FOR HIMALAYAN TECHNOLOGY The initiative taken by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development for the establishment of Central University for Himalayan Technology has given us hopes and aspirations for setting up of the University in our State. Sikkim renowned for its peace and tranquility would be an ideal place for this venture, particularly North Sikkim. With its idyllic setting and friendly people, the University would be ideally located. We are hopeful that our State may kindly be considered for this project.

India loses 2000 patents every year in US: Jairam Ramesh PTI Jun 16, 2009, 04.45pm IST HYDERABAD: India was losing at least 2000 patents every year in the United States and Europe on traditional formulations as 'our knowledge on these has never been documented,' Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests Jairam Ramesh said here today. Presiding over the UN-organised Convention on Biological Diversity, the Union Minister said Indians' knowledge on traditional formulations and systems of medicine mostly remained oral and never documented. "This has been depriving us of the patent rights which is a direct impingement on Indian traditional formulations. It happened earlier in the case of turmeric, neem and Basmati rice, wherein we fought and won the patents," he recalled. The Union Government has now made over two lakh formulations related to Indian systems of medicine available online through the 'Traditional Knowledge Digital Library,' he said. The European Patents Office was given full access to t ...
A note on brief talking points made by Shri Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs, and Defence while intervening in the debate on the motion for thanks for the President. Sir, The President's Address to Parliament is a directional roadmap of the NDA Government. It is not an agenda for one year, but a futuristic vision for India. The elections are over. Post elections, we have to embark on the task of nation building. We in the Government are required to display modesty. My friends in the Opposition must demonstrate the graciousness of a loser. What do the results indicate? It is after 30 years that a single party in Parliament has got majority of its own. The results have demonstrated that unlike previous elections, this election is not about the arithmetic of alliances. This was more about the changing chemistry on the ground. Traditional vote banks have been smashed. Those who governed badly and thought caste would save them, have been trounced. Those who indulged in political opp ...

KUDOS TO SMT. SUMITRA MAHAJAN Congratulations to Smt. Sumitra Mahajan on her appointment as speaker of the Lok Sabha. What makes me feel more elated is that Smt. Mahajan originally hails from my hometown ie. Chiplun. She was born in Chiplun on 12 April 1943 to Smt. Usha and Mr. Purushotam Sathe. She is a member of parliament from Indore (Madhya Pradesh) since 1989. Her stint as a Union Minister of State from 2002 to 2004 is also remarkable. All Chiplunkars must definitely be feeling proud like me. Congratulations once again and wish her best luck in her future endeavour…. HM

The numbers say it all. Every four minutes a life is lost in a road accident in India with 1,40,000 deaths recorded in 2012 alone. In the past decade, over a million people have lost their lives in road accidents in the country and over 5 million have been left seriously injured or permanently disabled. Ms. Kiran Mehra-Kerpelman, director of the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, in a release issued on Tuesday maintained that the unfortunate death of Union Minister for Rural Development Gopinath Munde in a road accident here on Tuesday morning once again draws attention to the critical issue of road safety. Only 28 countries, covering 7 per cent of the world’s population, have comprehensive road safety laws on five key risk factors: drinking and driving, speeding, and failing to use motorcycle helmets, seat-belts, and child restraints.

Very very sad demise of Senior BJP leader and Union Minister for Rural Development Shri Gopinath Munde died this morning after a road accident in Delhi. In India, the sheer number of people who die in road traffic accidents is shocking, and ignorance along with preconceived notions could be the cause of these deaths. This post tells us how we can save lives in case of such accidents. 1. If you have been injured in the accident, first check yourself for any injuries. Try to *** how well you can move your limbs, and if you experience symptoms such as dizziness etc. You need to be fit enough to help the others. 2.If other people are injured, first *** the extent of his/ her injuries. For e.g. blood from the head, neck, arms legs, abdomen back etc. Treat the quietest person first, they are usually more seriously injured or cannot breathe. People who can talk or scream, on the other hand, can breathe therefore can be treated a little later. Ask for the patient’s name, if he responds, it means he is abl ...
Shri Gopinath Munde, Union Minister who died in an unfortunate car accident today was the brother-in-law of the late Shri Pramod Mahajan, another senior BJP leader. Two untimely death in the same family. Mahajan was a master strategist and his death at a comparatively young age was a big blow to BJP. But now they got an even better strategist in Shri Narendra Modi. This is the advantage of a political party running on democratic lines. New leaders would be thrown up as situation demands. Look at the Congress party on the other hand. They depended on one family for leadership, inspiration, guidance and it fact for everything but now there is nobody from it even to be the leader in the Lok Sabha. Barring Oommen Chandy, this party may not have a single leader with some mass base. Let us hope they will learn some lessons at least now.

Free drug policy to be streamlined for integration with National Health Mission Dr Harsh Vardhan for new energy into “Health for All”; more inclusivity soon New Delhi, May 30: Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, has asked for thorough streamlining of systems in the distribution of free generic drugs to government health institutions at all levels throughout the country. The Free Drug Programme’s formal launch would be preceded by working out all logistical details with respect to procurement and distribution in consultation with the state governments. The National Health Mission (NHM)’s two sub- mission -- the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) – will be vehicles for implementation of the programme. It was formally cleared by the Union Cabinet in May 2013. But till date its implementation has been limited to a few, big- city hospitals as the infrastructure for procurement and distribution was not put in place, the Minister st ...

Heaven knows how much of the country's money looted by his mum-in-law and himself went out of the country through different airports. Reportedly, there was a time when Arjun Singh was the Union Minister for Aviation many precious antiques and other looted wealth were airlifted unchecked at the instance of Antonio Mainio and flown to Italy to be sold at fantastic prices in the antique shops run by her sisters Anushka and Nadia. Apprehending Robert Vadra and questioning him the proper way will definitely bring out many truths.

Tuesday, 20 May, 2014 B'day special: Pramod Mahajan –BJP’s resourceful leader and master strategist New Delhi: Pramod Venkatesh Mahajan was one of the most resourceful politicians of his times. He had the ability of getting things done with remarkable ease and that’s why he was always entrusted with handling critical responsibilities in the party and the NDA government. Before NDA came to power in 1998, he was supposed to be very close to L K Advani but after formation of NDA government, he won over the confidence of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpaee and became his blue-eyed boy. Pramod Mahajan’s rise in politics was spectacular. He had cultivated friends cutting across political parties. He was also connected to big corporate houses and was the chief fun-raiser for the party. Pramod Mahajan’s journey from being the son of a poor teacher to a journalist to the Union Minister of India is both interesting and inspiring. Born on 30 October 1949, Pramod was a born leader. He had the ability to tak ...

The rise of BJP in West Bengal: Riding on the charisma of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the BJP not only scripted the most resounding electoral victory India has seen in 30 years, but also emerged as a potential force in West Bengal where it is traditionally considered weak. Besides winning two Lok Sabha seats, the party came up with its best showing in the state in terms of the vote share, and returned surprisingly inspiring performances in a number of prestigious constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party retained Darjeeling, where party veteran S.S. Ahluwalia won emphatically. Bollywood singer and party candidate Babul Supriyo snatched Asansol from the Communist Party of India-Marxist, which had been holding on to the seat for a quarter of a century. The BJP candidates ended second in three seats where they relegated the CPI-M to the third position. Contesting all the 42 constituencies in the state, the BJP's vote share leapfrogged to 16.8 %, as against around six % it won in the previ ...

Beautifully said by Outgoing union minister Kamal Nath: (this to my mind is the best possible attack and rejection of Rahul and Sonia's election tricks that destroyed the economy; as also AAP's populism and handouts which turned me against AAP): In a TV interview, Nath singled out UPA's rights-based entitlement schemes for hurting the party, saying Congress did not realize India had become "aspirational" and was looking for things like material gains. He said the party's policies and approach were a few years behind the times. The argument may, in part, explain why Congress was rejected by all classes despite giving pro-poor schemes as a "right" and making them the main campaign plank, contrary to the "no dole" pitch of rival Narendra Modi. Kamal Nath said "rights", like on food, work and land, did not enthuse people who saw it with a sense of entitlement and felt the government had to give them anyway. While the beneficiary section did not feel indebted to the government, there was a big middle-class whi ...
The BJP's spectacular victory in Assam (BJP Assam Pradesh) shows how the Assamese view the problem of illegal infiltration from Bangladesh. For decades the Congress (the most communal party in India) had been keeping the Hindus divided between Bengali Hindus and Assamese Hindus to keep the focus away from the immense harm the swarm of infiltrators were permanently doing to Assam and India. It took the RSS and the BJP for decades to speak the blunt truth that Assam's greatest danger lay with the illegal immigrants who shared no common cultural or religious affinity unlike the Hindu refugees with them. For that the cynical Congress did manage to earn a lot of dividends from the infiltrators by terming the Sangh Parivar as communal for treating Hindus and Muslims differently. But Narendra Modi who not only calls a spade a spade but sometimes even calls it a shovel if need be, spelt out the clear interpretation of who is an infiltrator and who was not and the dangers thereof by his repeated election rallies i ...

BJP campaign costs `10,000cr: Cong THE ASIAN AGE Apr 10, 2014 | Age Correspondent New Delhi The Congress claimed Wednesday that the BJP had a `10,000-crore publicity campaign budget for the Lok Sabha elections, and alleged “90 per cent of *this) is black money”. Union minister and Congress leader Anand Sharma claimed at a media briefing that “though BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi promises to bring back black money, 90 per cent of the `10,000-crore publicity budget of his party is itself black money”. Mr Sharma added: “I have never seen such scale of media blitzkrieg as being unleashed by the BJP. The publicity campaign of the BJP to project Mr Modi at such a grand scale is without a parallel in Independent India.” The Congress leader sought to attack Mr Modi and the BJP’s claim it would bring back black money stashed abroad if voted to power. “It seems quite strange Mr Modi is leading a campaign funded by black money and claimes (he will) bring it back from abroad,” he added. Elections 2014: The most fascinating stories till now Have you heard about the molecular biologist inside the BJP war room? The campaign scene in the Congress is eerily like that in the BJP, with the veterans sulking and the leader's chief lieutenant taking over the reins. In fact, if there is one person with more at stake in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll than Rahul Gandhi, it is Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister for Rural Development. Ramesh is indubitably the point man for the Lok Sabha 2014 Congress campaign. He has been close to the Gandhi scion ever since he joined active politics and owes his rapid rise in the party hierarchy over the last decade to this assiduously cultivated relationship.

Worried over the plans of Maoists who may target political rallies and prominent political personalities, the Home Ministry has asked the paramilitary forces deployed in the three states to take maximum precautions and work in close coordination with the state police to foil any attempt by the rebels to disturb peace, official sources said today. GARHWAL POST / editorial / 27th February 2014 Word Play First there will be the Panchayat Elections in Uttarakhand and, then, the General Elections. By the end of it, the politicians will be an exhausted lot. In fact, going by what they are up to these days, they seem to have already exhausted their vocabulary and are down to downright name-calling and muck-raking. It is interesting to note that the Union Minister of External Affairs, Salman Khurshid, is as no-holds barred when addressing his local constituents as he is soft in dealing with the Chinese. Following upon the threats held out against those who had exposed the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for disabled persons in 2012, Khurshid has hit under the belt by using the word ‘impotent’ while speaking of BJP’s Narendra Modi. It is quite typical of Congress leaders, who think primarily in English and then speak in the Urdu or Hindi idiom. This often distorts the meaning because of differing cultural contexts. In response to BJP objectio ...

Rahul Gandhi's latest interview remark that 1984 riots cannot be compared with the one in 2002, here is my perspective, even though the hard facts below will disappoint many Face Book readers (In fact i had written this long ago in one of my columns).Praksh Nanda. A brief comparison of the riots in 1984 and those in 2002 are in order. Gujarat violence was a series of incidents starting with the burning of Sabarmati Express at Godhra by a Muslim mob on February 27, 2002, resulting in the death of 58 Hindu pilgrims returning from Ayodhya. This, in turn, prompted retaliatory attacks against Muslims and general communal riots on a large scale across the state, in which 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus were killed and 223 more people were reported missing. The 536 places of worship were damaged: 273 dargahs, 241 mosques, 19 temples, and 3 churches. These were the figures that were provided to the Rajya Sabha by the then Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Sriprakash Jaiswal in May 2005. Incidentally, preventive ...

DR. SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, THE MAN WHO SPEAKS HIS MIND He is probably the most feared and despised politician among politicians. But also admired and disliked by the educated Indian middle class for his no-holds-barred expression of opinion. In fact, they say he has taken freedom of expression to a whole new level by expressing uncomfortable opinions. For that he has been called names, he has been attacked physically, yet he continues expressing them. They say the only way to deal with him is indifference. But love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him. Dr. Subramanian Swamy, BJP leader and former Union Minister, was in Mysore and Star of Mysore caught up with him to ask a few questions, some which made an otherwise ever-smiling Swamy quite uncomfortable, but as always answered them all the same in his own no-holds-barred-style. Vikram Muthanna, Managing Editor of Star of Mysore, spoke to him. Excerpts: SOM: Dr. Swamy, how does it feel to be in BJP? Dr. Subramanian Swa-my: Well because I was in Jan Sangh in ...
