Blogs: The Chicago Bulls are now on The Top 3 Seed on The Eastern Conference, are They Better without Rose? are They Ready again for a Championship? After what seemed like an interminable, months long chase, the Chicago Bulls have finally caught up with the Toronto Raptors as the torturous 82-game regular season nearly comes to an end. A Bulls win over the sloppy Detroit Pistons on Friday night coupled with a Raptors' 108-100 loss to the New York Knicks in Toronto rearranged the overall standings in the Eastern Conference. At 47-32, the Bulls are now nestled in third place, dislodging the 46-33 Raptors, who staggered down to fourth. The upgrade is a mighty huge deal for the Bulls because a 3 seed puts them in a position to play either the Washington Wizards or the Charlotte Bobcats in opening round while a 4 seed means a date with the dangerous Brooklyn Nets, a team laden with veterans, on a tear and primed for a deep postseason run. The Bulls and Raptors each have 3 games left to play and they can easily ...

Q CLOSED - Again, happy 30th birthday to Chris Bosh, but also happy 31st birthday to TJ Ford, Texas Longhorn, player on 4 NBA teams and a Croatian team member. Both Bosh and Ford were taken in the 2003 NBA Draft, with Bosh being and Ford being Let's do the rest of the top 10 for the 2003 Draft as this was quite the draft! Try to name when the player was picked as well, if you dare... 1. LeBron James - Cleveland Cavaliers - St. Vincent-St. Mary High 2. Darko Milicic - Detroit Pistons - Hemofarm Visac 3. Carmelo Anthony - Denver Nuggets - Syracuse 4. Chris Bosh - Toronto Raptors - Georgia Tech 5. Dwayne Wade - Miami Heat - Marquette 6. Chris Kaman - Los Angeles Clippers - Central Michigan 7. Kirk Hinrich - Chicago Bulls - Kansas 8. TJ Ford - Milwaukee Bucks - Texas 9. Michael Sweetney - New York Knicks - Georgetown 10. Jarvis Hayes - Washington Wizards - Georgia
Is this the worst NBA season since the invention of the shot clock? After tonight only 2 teams in the Eastern Conference will post a record above .500. If the season ended today the 6 and 8 Toronto Raptors would hold the 4 seed and the 6 and 9 Detroit Pistons would sneak in with the 8th seed. So what? That just means the Western Conference is dominating this year. Yes it is. But are any of those teams actually good? The Portland Trailblazers, a team that didn't make the playoffs last year and didn't add any players of significance in the offseason is currently holding the seed. That NEVER happens in the NBA. The Clippers added the most in the offseason with Doc Rivers and JJ Reddick but at times they look like they could get beat by a college team (especially if that college team was Duke). The Rockets added Dwight Howard but are you impressed yet? They have two huge guys that show poor offensive fundamentals and a bunch of streaky shooters that don't appear to understand the word defense. Ok but what abo ...
Good morning, y'all! Today is the debut of the NBA regular season. There are 30 teams reaching for that one prestigious goal: the NBA championship! Out of 30 teams, 12 of the teams have African American head coaches. They are Jason Kidd of the Brooklyn Nets, Mike Brown of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Brian Shaw of the Denver Nuggets, Maurice Cheeks of the Detroit Pistons, Mark Jackson of the Golden State Warriors, Doc Rivers of the Los Angeles Clippers, Larry Drew of the Milwaukee Bucks, Monty Williams of the New Orleans Pelicans, Mike Woodson of the New York Knicks, Jacque Vaughn of the Orlando Magic, Dwane Casey of the Toronto Raptors, and Tyrone Corbin of the Utah Jazz. Only Doc Rivers has a ring when he won the title in 2008 when he coached the Boston Celtics while Jason Kidd is the only coach who won a title as a player when he did it in 2011 with the Dallas Mavericks. Brian Shaw finally got a head coaching job that was long overdue. Since he was in the shadow of legendary coach Phil Jackson, he should b ...

Detroit Pistons general manager Joe Dumars is looking to start the summer of 2013 with a bang, and he's already inquired about Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo and Toronto Raptors swingman Rudy *** according to Ken Berger of CBS Sports. Detroit Bad Boys: More on the Pistons' offseason While that doesn't mean the Celtics or Raptors are listening as of now, it goes to show Dumars' approach this offseason. The Pistons have also been looking to land a big-name free agent. They have offered lucrative deals to Atlanta Hawks free agent Josh Smith and the Denver Nuggets' Andre Iguodala, according to reports. Because of the situation he's in, Rondo is more likely to be traded. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce are off to Brooklyn, and many NBA executives expect the All-Star point guard, ACL tear and all, to be moved next. Berger reports that the Dallas Mavericks are another team that could be interested in the Rondo sweepstakes. *** s situation under new management in Toronto is also to-be-determined.
Why Basketball Won’t Leave Phil Jackson Alone ? In the absence of data, they are happy to speculate. The first time I met Jackson, at the end of April, rumor had it that he might become the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. (Cleveland hired Mike Brown instead.) When we met again, a week later, the rumor was that he was maybe going to be an executive for the Toronto Raptors. While that rumor was still circulating, a new rumor popped up that he had taken a job with the Detroit Pistons. (Later it emerged that he agreed only to help the team, whose owner is a friend, choose its next head coach.) Then a rumor broke that the Brooklyn Nets were after him as a possible coach and/or president and/or part-owner. What I can confirm, because I saw it with my own eyes, is that on the afternoon of Friday, May 3, Phil Jackson went shopping for groceries. I was there. I witnessed Jackson — 13-time N.B.A. champion, winningest coach in basketball history, mystical Zen spirit guide to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant and ...
Bynum, Calderon guide Pistons past Wizards The Sports Xchange By Dana Gauruder, The Sports Xchange Bynum, Calderon guide Pistons past Wizards Auburn Hills, Mich. -- Will Bynum's playing time seemed to be in jeopardy when the Detroit Pistons acquired veteran point guard Jose Calderon from the Toronto Raptors late last month. The Pistons have instead found that pairing the two together can produce a lethal backcourt combination. Bynum scored 20 points off the bench, including 12 in the fourth quarter, as the Pistons snapped the Washington Wizards' four-game winning streak with a 96-85 victory at The Palace on Wednesday. Bynum also dished out five of his team-high eight assists in the fourth, when the Pistons outscored the Wizards... ~SportsMan
