Kevin Garnett is one of my favorite players of all time..he's such a leader on top of still being a great player, especially defensively.I really like this Toronto Raptors team tho...the future looks good with DeRozan becoming a star, Kyle Lowry a solid borderline all star, and then Landry Fields, hansbrough, and Amir Johnson are all great role players

The Miami Heat may own 13 straight wins over the Toronto Raptors, but they know two November victories in the series don't mean much now. The Heat will be out to end the new-look Raptors' five-game win streak Sunday night at home. LeBron James combined for 62 points on 62.2 percent shooting in road wins over Toronto (16-15) two months ago. The Raptors are a different team now as winners of nine of 11 since Dec. 13 - the date when the majority of the players acquired from Sacramento in the Rudy *** deal made their club debuts. "We've been noticing," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. "They've been playing very good basketball. We mentioned that about the Eastern Conference. It is way too premature to figure out where teams are. There are teams that have higher ceilings, and they're one of them." Toronto used to employ *** primarily to defend James. With the swingman gone, coach Dwane Casey named more than half of his roster when asked who he would use Sunday, and even made a reference to a position that does ...
I guess you can say the Toronto Raptors are proving all there critics and doubters wrong as they have been, on a great run the last few weeks ever since they traded SF Rudy *** to the Sacramento Kings. The trade has been up and down for the Kings, but for Toronto it has turned out, to be a tremendous trade after all. Many thought the Raptors were tanking after trading away Rudy *** but instead the results have been great, as this team has a winning record at .500 for the first time since January 6, 2010. The Raptors have great confidence and believe in themselves as a young squad that wants to desperately make the playoffs. They seem to be the only team in there division that is taking a great advantage of an opportunity to possibly be in the postseason. The players have a great fit and chemistry together, SG/SF Demar Derozan has been playing the best basketball of his young career so far. The role players off the bench have pretty solid with plenty of veteran experience showing up each and every night. . ...

Preview With Dirk Nowitzki providing a lift in his return, the Dallas Mavericks didn't have much trouble continuing their home success the last time out. The Mavericks now appear to be in good position to sweep a three-game homestand as they go for their 13th win in 14 home meetings against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. After missing a 106-93 victory over visiting Milwaukee on Saturday because of a stomach virus, Nowitzki put together a complete effort in his return with 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in a 105-91 win over Memphis on Wednesday. ''I didn't feel great Monday in practice,'' said Nowitzki, who helped Dallas (15-10) to its fifth win in seven games. ''We didn't have a game for another two days, so by Tuesday I was a lot better and (Wednesday) I felt fine.'' The Mavericks have certainly been more than fine at home, winning 11 of 13 this season. Only Oklahoma City has a better home record in the Western Conference. Nowitzki has shot 58.8 percent while posting four straight 20-poin ...

DEROZAN, NEW-LOOK RAPTORS EARN VICTORY OVER SIXERS TORONTO -- In the span of a minute Friday, Terrence Ross scored on an alley-oop, a three-pointer and a massive running dunk, taking off from near the top of the key. The 22-year-old started his second game in place of the departed Rudy *** and made the most of it, scoring 24 points -- including a key three in the dying minutes -- to lift the revamped Toronto Raptors to a 108-100 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday. "The main thing is staying focused so I can play at this level, I'm really trying to just know my job, know my role and just make sure we have the chemistry going and keep winning," Ross said afterward. Demar Derozan poured in a game-high 27 points for Toronto (8-13) on what was a good night to be a Raptors swingman. "Talk about bouncy athletes," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "You go with Ross and DeRozan, you take the athleticism plus they can come off screens and shoot like they do. They're hard guards, they're really difficult people ...

KOBE RETURNS, BUT SHORT-HANDED RAPTORS HANDLE LAKERS Email December 9, 2013, 12:00 am Associated Press Los Angeles (AP) Nearly eight months after Kobe Bryant limped off the Lakers' home court with a torn Achilles tendon and a career in doubt, he struggled to keep his composure when he finally stepped back onto the same hardwood. And though his comeback night didn't quite go to script, Bryant couldn't help reflecting on the work necessary to get back on that court -- and all the months of steady labor ahead to reclaim his game. Bryant had nine points and eight rebounds in his season debut, but Amir Johnson scored a career-high 32 points in the trade-depleted Toronto Raptors' 106-94 victory over Los Angeles on Sunday night. Bryant began his 18th NBA season by going 2 for 9 with four assists and eight turnovers in 28 minutes. The fourth-leading scorer in NBA history got hurt April 12 and persevered through several months of rehabilitation to return for Los Angeles' 20th game of the new season, only to strugg ...
GRADING THE RUDY *** TRADE! From a RaptorFan perspective.. To Toronto: Chuck Hayes, John Salmons, Patrick Paterson, Grevis Vasquez. To Sacramento: Rudy *** Aron Gray, Quincy Acy. Reasons why this is a good trade for the Toronto Raptors.. 1) Financial flexibility.. The Raptors are dealing out $21.3 million in salaries while only taking back $18.5 million. Of that 18.5 they are only potentially on the hook for $13 million next year in Hayes contract and Salmons option contract.. which could be turned down by the Raptors, so they would only have to pay Hayes' 7 million next year. While Sacramento is on the hook for Rudy *** s monster $18+ million contract next year. Hope that answers your question Waqas Mahmud. 2) Depth.. The Raptors are giving up 1 guy who has been incredibly inefficient and has been taking shots away from shot makers, along with 2 guys they don't play at all for Grevis Vasquez who was in the running for most improved player last year, top 5 in assists per game and rebounding% for point gu ...

What was anticipated as the Big Comeback was marred by turnovers and bad defense. Led by the returnee Kobe Byrant with 8 turnovers, the LA Lakers were unable to live up to the hype and the aura around the return of Kobe as the team recorded their worst turnovers(19) in a game this season getting their 5th home defeat of the season by losing 106-94 to the Toronto Raptors who were on a 10game losing streak and had just traded their superstar forward Rudy *** In front of a sold out Staples Centre crowd, the Lakers fumbled the early exchanges of the game amidst turnovers and went down as many as 14points. The Lakers team even with Kobe who recorded 9points 8rebounds and 4assists in 28minutes couldn't recover from the 1st quarter sham. Raptors forward Amir Johnson recorded his career high of 32 points dominating the Lakers in the paint. Toronto Raptors @ Indiana Pacers Market: Raptors @ Pacers (handicap) Pick: Raptors (+9.0) Odds: $1.86 Agency: Bet365 Stake: 1 Analysis: Two strong defensive teams face off here, in what should be a close encounter. The Pacers are extremely stingy, allowing a league-best 84.4PPG. The Raptors are 6th in that category, allowing 94.0PPG. The Raptors have the slowest pace in the league, which indicates that they will try and give Indiana as few possessions as possible, making it harder for them to get blown out. Toronto haven't lost by more than 9 this season, with Miami defeating them by 9, Charlotte by 2 and Atlanta by 7. Ian Mahinmi is questionable tonight, and would be missed. If Mahinmi doesn't play, and Hibbert gets himself into foul trouble, which is certainly possible with Valanciunas matching up on him, the Pacers will be stretched in the C department. Rudy *** is a good matchup for Paul George, and will be able to curb the influence the Pacer's star has on the game. Amir Johnson has been shooting at ...

Against Toronto, Ellis was 9 of 18 from the floor and had five assists and rebounds and three steals. "We played hard and found a way to finish the game," Ellis said.
