BEHIND THE CURTAIN -- Jay Leno's Tonight Show comes alive in this book by insider DAVE BERG, who spent 18 years as Jay's co-producer. There were always two shows: the one on stage and the one behind the curtain. This narrative weaves both together, featuring the show's most legendary moments, including Hugh Grant's game-changing mea culpa, Arnold Schwarzenegger's shocking political announcement, and the historic booking of Barack Obama as the first sitting president ever to do a late-night show. But it doesn't stop there. Every page is full of zany, wacky and serious moments with celebrities, political and sports figures at The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. Foreword by Jay Leno and endorsements by Laura Bush, Bill O'Reilly, Bill Maher, Gary Sinise, James Carville & Mary Matalin, Larry the Cable Guy and more. (Pelican Publishing)

There's way too many boobs out there! I'm mad as heck! On Watter's World, we see what a bunch of boobs there are out in public! Of course, this is a very small sample of our society, but doesn't it tell us something about our education system? The idea that any of these people are in college is appalling! I remember the Jay Walking segments on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno. He was always encountering people with no knowledge of our current events, let alone, our history. That is what is so scary, isn't it? How do we explain that people that at least graduated from high school could be so clueless? I seriously wonder how people could be such boobs when it comes to knowing anything about our history! How could that even happen? I read The Hollywood Reporter saying NBC gave Jay Leno $15 million to bow out of his contract and not host the Tonight Show. Three years ago, NBC Gave Conan O’Brian $30 million not to host The Tonight Show. This looks like to me that America’s farm policy has come to show business.
So longtime talkshow host David Letterman is going to retire and hang it up.I wonder if this was like from the television Movie "The Late Shift" when supposedly, Jay Leno's then agent, Helen Kushnick, forced Johnny Carson out to get Jay Leno in at NBC, leaving David Letterman to leave NBC and go to CBS. Letterman was then replaced at NBC by Conan O'Brian, who then got the tonight show, and then was forced out by NBC and then landing at TBS, this time replaced by former Tonight Show host Jay Leno. Now I wonder if Conan O'Brian will be David Letterman's replacement, or will Jay Leno be courted? What about Craig Ferguson, who now hosts "The Late Late Show"? I guess the real question is, who do you think that CBS will replace David Letterman with? Regis? Tony Danza?

Well, first Jay Leno left the Tonight Show. Now David Letternan has decided to retire at the end of his contra t next year. It will be interesting to see who will take over Laye Night.
David Letterman announced today that he will be retiring next year, sometime in 2015 ... can't be too soon in my opinion, I have endured his not-funny BS far too many times because I really wanted to see someone he had on as a guest .. unlike Jay Leno, who could have stayed on a few years, still not used to Jimmy Fallon & the new Tonight Show
David Letterman to retire in 2015. Anyone think Jay Leno will take the show, seeing as though he was pretty much forced to leave the Tonight Show? Would be very interesting to see if he could compete to spite NBC!
Less than two months after his longtime rival Jay Leno stepped down from NBC's "Tonight Show," David Letterman has announced he'll retire and step down from CBS's "Late Show" in 2015.
Some Entertainment News David Letterman to retire from 'Late Show' in 2015 New York (AP) - David Letterman says he's retiring next year as host of "Late Show." During a taping of Thursday's show, Letterman said he has informed his CBS bosses that he will step down in 2015, when his current contract expires. He told his audience he expects his departure will be "at least a year or so" from now. Letterman turns 67 next week. He has the longest tenure of any late-night talk show host in U.S. television history, nearing 32 years since he created "Late Night" at NBC in 1982. He jumped to CBS to start "Late Show" in 1993. Jay Leno, his rival to host NBC's "Tonight Show," retired earlier this year, making way for Jimmy Fallon.
:He just wanted to outlast Jay Leno. Still mad at not being chosen Tonight Show host when Johnny Carson retired in 1992.
I have watched the Tonight show for years. I have really tried to give the new guy a chance. I think he is funny but he just isn't getting the star power guests that Jay Leno did. I don't know if it is more the move to New York or if he and his staff don't have the connections. I hope it improves soon! I don't know what I'll watch for late night.
Regarding yesterday's life update: It looks like Mr. Jay Leno played an April Fools on me. In my excitement I was ignorant of the fact that he retired from 'The Tonight Show.' God and My Ignorance On the "Tonight Show," one of Jay Leno's most reliable gags is called "Jaywalking." He hikes around the streets of Los Angeles with a microphone, asking passersby basic questions about America, things middle-school students ought to know. The horrible ignorance of American history and government that he finds is hysterically funny at first, but sad and depressing later. You don't want to know how bad the average American Christian's basic Bible knowledge is. Surveys show that we struggle to name half of the Ten Commandments; get only some of the books of the Bible; and struggle to identify and distinguish the main characters of the most important Bible stories like Noah, Abraham, and Moses. What's even worse than deficient Bible knowledge is deficient spiritual commitment. Learning about God's mighty acts in human history and about what he did through people is important not just for head knowledge of facts, but to grow in faith and zeal to use your life to be useful to God's global r ...

Norristown, Pennsylvania, 3/1/01 Mr. Jay Leno The Tonight Show 3000 W. Alameda Ave. Burbank, CA 91523 Dear Mr. Leno, ...I (have long)enjoyed the Tonight Show and your sense of humor. As a semi-active university professor, I've enjoyed your interviews with college students who don't seem to know much of anything. That problem has been baffling me for years, too. Otherwise, I simply enjoyed your brand of comedy. Until last night, that is. Last night, in one fell swoop, you turned me off completely. That skit about New Jersey, and the Soprano's insulted me both as an Italian-American, and as a Catholic. I mean, any dumb-dumb could have figured out that on a day when Catholics go to church in droves to receive ashes, you don't make light of the practice. It was uncalled for, especially since it added fuel to a very disturbing situation that we in the Italian-American community have had to face for lo so many years now: the American Media's efforts, and successful, too, to destroy our image... I'm not sure if ...
Has anyone been watching the new Tonight Show? I think I have only seen it maybe 4 times and that includes last night when Bill Cosby was on. I sure do miss Jay Leno. I don't watch Late Night with Seth Meyers much either.
There are a lot of differences between Jimmy Fallon's Tonight Show and Jay Leno's, but maybe the biggest is that Fallon is very obviously having fun at his new job. It's kind of infectious. If you had Billy Joel on your show, wouldn't you want to sing with him, too? --Peter Weber

49 1/2 Shades of Jason Graae is a brilliant show that demonstrates the art of cabaret. It was fun last night because the audience was comprised of brilliant performers in their own rights, each coming to add their support a fellow artist at the top of his game. I'm reminded of Jerry Seinfeld describing one of his first appearances on the Tonight Show to Jay Leno. Jay finally stopped him, mid-description and said "I know, I know, I was there". In those days, if a comic got a gig, the other comics in town would go to the show to give support. This was what took place last night, however, Jason really needs no such support. Even though cabaret is a particular niche of entertainment, Jason is not a taste one has to acquire. He's way passed that. Originally a French concept, cabaret was any place that served alcoholic beverages. It's popularity moved from France, where it had it's beginnings, to Germany. But what helped it evolve was the industrial revolution and the greater and greater chasm that was ...

WATCH VIDEO: Jay Leno Reminds Bill Maher Of Israel As He’s Inducted Into TV Academy Hall Of Fame With Rupert Murdoch, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David E Kelley, Ray Dolby & Brandon Stoddard By LISA DE MORAES, TV Columnist | Wednesday March 12, 2014 12:20am PDT Jay Leno, being inducted into the TV Academy’s Hall Of Fame on Tuesday night, said he’s glad he left NBC’s Tonight Show when he did The Television Academy's 23rd Hall Of Fame Induction Gala because he was the oldest person on the show. Everyone else was 20 to 40 years younger than him and, while you may think you’re holding your own with them, “they’re really just laughing at you,” he explained. “You can’t be hip past a certain age. You have old guy gestures.” And when you make references to The *** Van *** Show they think it’ s “a *** joke or something” — and they don’t understand what you’re talking about when you say the time is “Half past 2.” Leno told the Beverly Wilshire Hotel gathering his favorite book ...
NCAA BASEBALL this weekend at the Dinwiddie County Sports Complex. For Kutztown, newly elected pro football Hall Of Famer and former Buffalo Bills wide receiver Andre Reed graduated from the school.
Jay Leno ‘Had Secret Breakdown’ - JAY Leno suffered a secret emotional collapse following his tearful exit from The Tonight Show. The star, 63, sank to the depths of despair after -
When comedian Jimmy Fallon took NBC’s Tonight Show baton from host Jay Leno, he could have rolled out gray-hair jokes, displayed Jay’s most embarrassing moments, took shots at Jay’s worst jokes and roasted Jay in one way or another. But instead Jimmy unleashed two weapons of love. With humility, Jimmy honored Jay with heart-felt notes of thanks, appreciation for the many years of laughs, and endearing hopes for his future. Jimmy fed Jay a heaping portion of respect. Without realizing it, Jimmy taught viewers a lesson, one that is clearly endorsed and prescribed by God in the Bible, but rarely gets the same air time in our lives. Want to be a God’s man? Then we must possess humility and honor others. Unfortunately, it’s so much easier to dishonor, boast and criticize. It even gets better ratings. News reports, opinion columns, and reality TV embrace critical, adversarial behavior. Our culture is searching for something or someone to criticize in order to advance an agenda or themselves. It requi ...
from Halliburton True Share this story: The oil-services and infrastructure giant Halliburton is a favorite target for critics of former Vice President *** Cheney, who used to be the company's CEO. During the presidency of George W. Bush, the company's Iraq War-related contracts attracted wide attention. Now, the company's role in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has brought Halliburton back into the headlines. During a May 20, 2010, appearance with Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, MSNBC host and political commentator Chris Matthews revived the Cheney-Halliburton connection while discussing the spill. At one point in the interview, Leno said, "All right, a lot going on in politics with this BP thing. This is the one-month anniversary. Where are we? Who’s the lying scum here?" Matthews responded, "Yeah, it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever seen, and, you know, I don’t know where to start. I mean, Halliburton. Sound familiar? Cheney. Cheney was head of Halliburton. Obamas set new record for vacation travel expenses; stonewalled documents finally released March 1, 2014 by Cheryl Carpenter Klimek It took filing a lawsuit, but Judicial Watch discovered Friday that President Obama has set a new record for travel on the taxpayer dime. The conservative watchdog group obtained travel records from the U.S. Department of the Air Force that show the Obamas racked up $7.4 million during just three trips in 2013 – in flight expenses only. The records, revealed Friday, include the Obama family’s Christmas Vacation in Hawaii from Dec. 21, 2012, to Jan. 5, 2013. During that stay, the president took a short break and flew back to Washington to work on a budget deal, then returned for the rest of his vacation. The second trip was in early August, 2013, when Obama flew to California for a private fundraiser with DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, then appeared with Jay Leno on the “Tonight Show.” Later that month, the Obama family vacationed in Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. All the Tonight Show's hosts first names after Steve Allen start with "J". Jack Parr, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno & Jimmy Fallon. This is why they let Conan go. No "J".
Late Night Jokes: Jimmy Fallon Inherits the Throne The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon Welcome to "The Tonight Show." This is the first "Tonight Show" broadcast from New York in over 40 years. I'm Jimmy Fallon and I'll be your host . . . for now. Of course, I wouldn't be here tonight if it weren’t for the previous "Tonight Show" hosts, so I want to say “thank you†to Steve Allen, Jack Paar, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, and Jay Leno. Amazing lineage. I had a great childhood, but if you’d told me when I was a kid that after graduating high school, I'd get to be on "Saturday Night Live" and eventually I’d be the host of "The Tonight Show," I'd have said, "I graduated high school?" Jimmy Fallon's first night as host of "The Tonight Show" featured a parade of cameos, including Robert DeNiro, Tina Fey, Lady Gaga, and Joan Rivers. Fun fact: did you know that Rivers' appearance on last night's "Tonight Show" ended a near 30-year ban imposed on Rivers by the late Johnny Carson and carried on by Jay Leno? Carson was upset with Rivers--then the permanent guest host for Carson--for taking a late night hosting job at Fox without notifying him first. Click here to read more:

Why am I so mad at Jimmy Fallon and the new Tonight Show? Am I the only one feeling the show is kind of RIP? :( I like Jimmy, he's funny, but I don't see him in the same caliber as Johnny Carson or Jay Leno. Im also rather angry that he took the show away from Burbank, leaving many jobless. What.. is he too good to move to Burbank? ;p Tonight Show and Burbank went well together for many many years, and that show felt like "ours" (here in Los Angeles), because almost everything else is from NYC. I also have such good memories of the show here. Went to a few tapings over the years, and also when Joan Rivers co-hosted. Went with Erin Farber way way back in 78' or 79, to meet Rich Little (Erin's father was his road manager). And outside the Tonight Show is where I met Brittany Murphy. (when she was on Ellen and Tonight Show same day). To me, it feels like the end of an era.
I'm gonna miss Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, but excited what's in store for Jimmy Fallon!
Watched part of the new Tonight Show (Jimmy Fallon's premier hosting). Don't think I'll be watching much of the Tonight Show any more. Fallon's too young to host that show. He doesn't have the maturity. His clowning reminds me too much of Conan, and you know what happened to him. Not impressed with the band U-2, who were his guests tonight. I don't know why the powers that be decided to replace Jay Leno. He added a touch of maturity to the show that so many comedians and show hosts today don't seem to have. Wonder how long Fallon will last before they're trying to get Jay back? Another problem that I found immature and unpleasant was that everyone on it was trying TOO hard to be funny and entertaining. They all seemed to be trying too hard and coming across as nervous and unsure of themselves. Maybe it'll get better, but I wouldn't take bets on it. It seems that shows that were truly funny and entertaining without vulgarity are a thing of the past!

"The Jay Leno Show" at 10pm was pretty brutal. It wasn't as good as his Tonight Show bits. But let's see how Jimmy & Seth does.
It's gonna be weird watching the Tonight Show without Jay Leno. Jimmy better kill it though!
How long until Jay Leno takes the Tonight Show back?
Now that NBC has decided to give Jay Leno his walking papers, we must all decide who we want to watch next, if anyone. Let's compare notes. What do you like or dislike about the late night talk shows. who do you like Jimmy Fallon? David Lettermen? Others? Rather than try to change this group, i decided to start my own and call it, " Jay Leno is gone from Tonight Show. Jimmy Fallon vs. David Letterman"
I've always wanted to go Burbank, CA to sit in on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, but New York looks like a great destination too.

Jay Leno said in an interview that it wasn't his idea to retire from the Tonight Show. I wonder if all his jokes about our royal majesty King Nobama had anything to do with it ? heads up Jimmy Fallon.
It's time for "Yes or B.S." We give you a statement, and you decide . . . YES, it's true . . . or NO, it's total B.S. The first episode of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" airs tonight, so that's today's theme. 1. Jay Leno holds the record for most episodes for any host. Yes: Johnny Carson hosted for 30 years, and Leno only hosted for a combined 21 years. But Carson used a lot more guest hosts, including Leno. So he racked up a total of 4,531 episodes, compared to 4,610 for Jay. 2. Comedy Central went off the air on May 22nd, 1992, so the producers could watch Johnny Carson's last episode. Yes: They put up a message that said, "Watching Johnny Carson's last show, and so should you." 3. At just under eight months, Conan O'Brien had the SHORTEST run of any fulltime "Tonight Show" host. B.S. An anchor named Jack Lescoulie hosted for less than five months in 1957 when NBC tried to turn it into more of a straight news show. Then a guy named Al Collins replaced him, but only last a month. 4. ...

I haven't watched the Tonight Show regularly for many years (it's on SO late!). I thought Jay Leno was a fitting replacement for Johnny Carson (plus I think Johnny was involved in the decision to hire Jay). Conan not so much (though I kind of like his show now). But Jimmy Fallon?

Complete with a brand new birther joke! A few months ago, Jay Leno opened his Tonight Show monologue with three solid minutes of jokes aimed squarely at President Obama and his administration for what he evidently sees as a less-than-effective handling of the Syria situation.
Did you choke up too? Jay Leno's weepy goodbye after 22 years hosting the "Tonight Show":
I hate to see Jay Leno leave the Tonight Show but I am so excited to see Jimmy Fallon taking his place And Seth Meyers taking over Late Night! Next generation of comedians!
Recently saw the new movie "Dallas Buyers Club" with my wife Peggy, who is a huge Matthew Mcconaughey fan. Saw Matthew, a Texas Longhorn, on Jay Leno's show last week promoting the movie. Also on Jay's "Tonight Show" that night was former Aggie Lyle Lovett. Nothing was mentioned by Jay, hosting "The Tonight Show" for his final week before Jimmy Fallon takes over, about his two guests both being from Texas and having attended rival universities. Matthew should win the Oscar for his performance in "Dallas Buyers Club," especially since the only actor I saw give a better performance this past year, Tom Hanks in "Captain Phillips," didn't get nominated!

You know, I've never seen Jay Leno's Tonight Show. I really ought to . . . What? CURSES!
I am an incredible fan of watching the journey of those that I consider "creatives". Filmmakers, musicians, chefs, visual artists, writers, engineers, industrial designers, actors and many others. I'm fascinated by those that are given the opportunity to showcase their art. Whether it's mainstream creatives or people like Natasha Wescoat, Sonya Paz, James Altucher Rajesh Setty, Ryan Hayes and Tosh Campanella that are as passionate about their craft as anyone else. Comedians are a unique bunch that I've always been fond of. Few know that, when I a teen, I aspired to someday try my hand at comedy. This week I watched the final shows for Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon on NBC. Fallon is of course not retiring, but instead has been given the reigns of the Tonight Show from Leno who was the successor of the great Johnny Carson. Fallon's final episode of his previous show was more of a statement. He was closing the door on a significant phase of his career and welcomed us along his journey to the next. It was interes ...

Everybody settle down about Jay Leno's last Tonight Show... it hasn't been "The Tonight Show" since Johnny Carson left.
Well late Thursday night another page in both television history the Tonight Show history was turned . As Jay Leno sat behind his desk on set trying to hold back the tears, he talked about how in the first few yrs of taking over the show his mother died his dad passed and then he lost his brother. He was family less , but wasn't because all working on that show were his family , as he closed out his era he quoted Johnny Carson who he said was the best ever to do this job '' I bid you a heart felt goodnight '' and another class act of 22 yrs was over . Jack Parr Steve Allen , The king of late night Johnny Carson and Jay Leno , Conan O'Brien for a few months but really does that flop count . Which brings us to is this the end of a 60 yr institution known as The Tonight Show . Jimmy Fallon is that the best these new NBC exec's can come up with put in a guy like this who will turn it into a goof circus. Why not leave Leno there like they did Carson till he wants to quit then like Carson let him pick his suc . ...

Random Thoughts For A Late Night Fri: -- Despite his protests promising otherwise, Jay Leno will have another talk show within 18 months. He cares nothing for the money he makes from it (supposedly he's never touched his "Tonight Show" cash, but lives on his stand up checks) so I really think he just wants to be a host and be FOX is gonna throw boatloads of cash at him AND promise him he'll be on top. -- Thanks to incessant media coverage, I already hate Gracie Gold and she still has, like, six more weeks until she skates. Ugh. I wanna throw up. -- Otherwise, I absolutely love the Olympics. Hockey, ski jump, downhill skiing, curling... Yes, curling. It's awesome. The coverage is gonna blow, as NBC will show figure skating, figure skating, anything Shaun White is in, and figure skating; but I hope to catch SOME of these events early in the morning streaming. -- Someone asked me the other day what my all time favorite single comic issue was, and I responded immediately with "Uncanny X-Men Or GI Joe While ne ...
So here is what I was thinking. You know how we all love Jay Leno. Well, now he is gone from the Tonight Show and we are all sad about it. He is such a sweet man..honest and humble and kind. Anyway, now I won't be able to go on Jay Leno's show to promote our Reality TV Show. The producers asked me if I would be okay with going on TV to promote the show and I said..,,SUURREE.So, now we have to think of what shows I will go on to promote it. David Letterman? Craig Ferguson??? Kathy and Hoda, The View? The Talk? Jimmy Fellan? I DON"T THINK SO...and play those stupid games of his. I WANT LENO BACK ALREADY. I need to think this over.ask Frank and David. Tommy said, Letterman and GMA...but I like Craig Ferguson. Hmmm

It was one of my favorite jobs. When I was living in Indianapolis, a comedy club had just opened up called *** I started performing there as an emcee, and over the years I got to work with the headliners who were on the circuit those days, Bob Saget, Jerry Seinfeld, Garry Shandling, Jay Leno. Jay would come through a couple times a year and he became kind of a mentor. As my popularity grew as a local comic, we would occasionally do shows together at different venues. I would open for him.  Years later when I lived in L.A. I asked Jay if I could write for him. His secretary sent me a two-page agreement that said I could submit “timely material” anytime I wanted, and if Jay liked any jokes, he would pay me $75 for each and they would become his property to use as long as he wanted. I remember the first joke I got on the Tonight Show. It was January 5, 1995: “There’s a new maximum-security prison in Florence Colorado. It’s called Supermax and it opens next week. It’s the most secure prison ...

In 1992 I was a 9 year old boy running around the NBC studios in Burbank waiting for my dad to finish the talk show he was filming there. I went from set to set, until I wandered on to a live set. That was the Tonight Show set, and recently-crowned host Jay Leno was just beginning his tenure there. I watched him do his entire monologue from stage left while practically on the stage, and I caught his eye during it. He seemed surprised to see me there, and gave me a knowing nod and continued his jokes about Bill Clinton. Thanks, Jay Leno, for all the laughs, memories, and above all being an unflappable class act until the very end. Just like your predecessor, you will be a very tough act to follow.
Last episode of Jay Leno-hosted Tonight Show was star-studded, cameos by Oprah, Kim Kardashian
Good Morning Everyone. I want to give a shout out to former Albany senator and Met broadcaster, Ralph Kiner. He hit for a better average than current Albany Senate leader, Dean Skelos. I also want to give kudos to Jay Leno. His last appearance as host of the Tonight Show was last night. I’m not sure what kudos are, but they’re probably funny in Jay’s hands. Hopefully he won’t take it on the chin. Congratulations to former St. Rose student, Jimmy Fallon, for replacing Jay. Jimmy is considering renaming the show, the Fallon Gong Show. On that note, have a great day and an even greater weekend. Go USA!
Anybody catch Jay Leno's last Tonight Show? How was it? Looking forward to Jimmy Fallon taking over!!!

Leno's Last "Tonight" Show-Celebs Plenty of stars wanted to say goodbye to Jay Leno last night, as he hosted his final "Tonight Show." Billy Crystal was the guest, as he was on Leno's first show. Crystal also arranged a "Sound of Music" parody, with Jim Parsons, Sheryl Crow, Kim Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Paul and Carol Burnett. Jack Black sang,"So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye. If Fallon tanks, you'll be back here next year." There were taped messages from Matt Damon, Bill Maher and President Barack Obama. Obama notes he was the butt of many of Leno's jokes. Obama says he's making Leno the U.S. ambassador to Antarctica. The president adds, "Hope you have a warm coat, funnyman."

This bulletin just in from Roto-Reuters News: At the very end of his final "Tonight Show" broadcast, Jay Leno introduced two surprise guests: Bob Dylan and Woody Allen. They stood silently on either side of Mr. Leno as he said, solemnly, "I'd like to announce that all THREE of us are retiring from show business and from public life, as of tonight. Putting our monumental egos aside for just once in our lives, we came to the mutual conclusion that we've worn out our welcome, and that the public is good and god damned sick of us." "Therefore, we've all joined a Zen Buddhist monastery in the remote mountains of northern Japan, and will spend the rest of our lives there in silent, cloistered meditation. Thank you for your kind attention, and may the Bodhisattva of Compassion fix a flat tire on your classic car some time. Goodnight." The studio audience immediately rose to its feet en masse, in a tremendous standing ovation that lasted for a full ten minutes and was still going on when the cameras faded out.

Getting ready to watch the final Tonight Show With Jay Leno. I remember back when I worked for *** clark right across the street from NBC. It was pre 9-11 so I could walk in through security in the back with my hand truck and pick-up HUGE boxes of digi tapes from our show taping of Your Big Break. We taped on Johnny's old stage and Jay was on the stage next door. You never knew who you would run into backstage and in the loading dock area. What I remember the most though were the different collector cars that Jay drove onto the lot each day. He had a parking space right outside of the loading dock area near the Tonight Show soundstage and right across from the NBC Burbank Studios commissary. I actually talked to him one day and told him my Uncle Charles was a car collector too. I remember the day he drove a "Stanley Steamer" onto the lot. Amazing. Fun times years later doing the daytime version of The Weakest Link. More cars each day from Mr. Leno. Always a very nice guy and beloved by his cre ...

I was just reading about Jay Leno leaving the Tonight Show. I know many preferred Letterman but I always found Jay Leno had a natural talent with charm and lightness that I will miss. I know myself of course only too well that humour is very much a matter of taste. I have not seen enough of Jimmy Fallon to pass judgment if he is a worthy successor or not. ……………..is he ?
Tonight is Jay Leno's last show as Tonight Show host. He'll be replaced by Jimmy Fallon after the Olympics. What do you think of the change?

Carrying the torch. Beside the athletes and the security team, the person who may have the most pressure on him during the upcoming Winter Olympics is Jim Bell, who is executive producing the event for NBC. The network is banking big numbers to promote not only its prime time lineup, but also Jimmy Fallon, who takes over for Jay Leno as "Tonight Show" host after the games end. Oh, and the network will want to make a few bucks on the Games, which are being held in Sochi, Russia, which means everything will be on tape-delayed. Bell has been involved with NBC's Olympic coverage for over 20 years and also used to run NBC's "Today." A look at Bell from the Wall Street Journal. Meanwhile advertisers are having to juggle carefully not to violate the Russian laws against promoting diversity and/or homosexuality. Their Olympic spots will come on where near the tabu topic, yet their policies and commercials in other media are almost dependant on an open mind, if not advocacy on all diversity, including *** rights.

FROM THE DIAMOND VAULTS!! Her First Date If you didn't see this on the Tonight Show, I hope you're sitting down when you read it. This is probably the funniest date story ever, first date or not!!! We have all had bad dates but this takes the cake. Jay Leno went into the audience to find the most embarrassing first date that a woman ever had. The winner described her worst first date experience. There was absolutely no question as to why her tale took the prize! She said it was midwinter...snowing and quite cold... and the guy had taken her skiing in the mountains outside Salt Lake City,Utah. It was a day trip (no overnight). They were strangers, after all, and had never met before. The outing was fun but relatively uneventful, until they were headed home late that afternoon. They were driving back down the mountain, when she gradually began to realize that she should not have had that extra latte!! They were about an hour away from anywhere with a rest room and in the middle of nowhere! Her companion sugg ...

That means it is time for a slew of articles on the end of one era and the start of another. Here's the Los Angeles Times on Leno's exit and what it means for Los Angeles. Also, New York Magazine talks with Fallon and executive producer Lorne Michaels.
Here are 4 things on my mind going into this week: 1. Bruno Mars’ performance at the Super Bowl was awesome. He’s a mix of 2 different musical eras. 1950s era + Modern Era. Perfection for fans of that style. 2. This is Jay Leno’s final week at the Tonight Show. I'm a HUGE fan of his. He’s been in the ratings pretty much the entire 20+ years, including right now. He’s leaving at the top. My favorite of all time. I’m going to buy 2 tickets to see his stand-up show in Las Vegas during one of my concert road trips this year. VIP concert one night + Jay Leno the following night. 3. The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics start this week!!! I’m beyond excited for this!! GO Lolo Jones!!! She is only the 10th US Olympian EVER to participate in both the Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics! GO TEAM USA! 4. My Lakers still suck! They lost again. They’re so bad, that I programmed my DVR to record the latest episode of The Biggest Loser and my DVR got confused by the title and recorded the Lakers game inste ...

Tonight on CNN: "Jay Leno: Mr. Comedy" (10 p.m. ET). A special look-back at how the departing "Tonight Show" host earned his stripes on the comedy club circuit in the '70s, made his first splash on TV in the '80s and then, in the '90s, took on the challenge of succeeding the legendary Johnny Carson. CNN’s Nischelle Turner hosts the show, which will re-air Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET).
I guess the prerequisite to be the host of the Tonight Show is to have a first name that starts with a "J". Name them all. A bit sad to see that Jay Leno is retiring from the Tonight Show. Strangely enough, was physically at one of the final shows of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson many years ago. Heard Jay say today he's been doing the show for 23 years. Boy do I feel old ! Lol. This week as most shows do right before "retiring" they are reviewing several past shows and moments throughout the week which have been hilarious . 😍Tonight, one of his guests is political comedian Bill Maher whom I found to be extremely funny. Sorry to see you go Jay!
So now that Jay Leno is "Retiring" from the Tonight Show... How long do you think it will be before he wants his job back?
Well if anyone watches channel 12 at 1030 the Tonight Show With Jay Leno we were in the second row on the floor. We rushed the stage to get a touch of Jays hand i didnt but Chesley did. It was worth the 5 hour wait we really enjoyed it. I got a blister on one of my heels and the other foot the bottom of it hurts and as for Chesley his toes are screaming. Tomorrow is the tour of Warner Brothers Studios then back on the plane in the afternoon goin home. So we are enjoying some beverages waitin for 1130 to see if we see ourselves on tv:) Later

Magic Johnson told "Tonight Show" host Jay Leno that the Lakers were in a bind largely because they hired Mike D'Antoni instead of Phil Jackson.
I remember them all, Steve Allen, Jack Parr, Johnny Carson, and Jay Leno. It seems strange that when Johnny Carson started hosting the Tonight Show it was 1962 and I wasn't out of high school yet. Now the guy that succeeded Carson, not counting the few months in the middle with Conan, is stepping down and I'm 68 years old and retired. The reign of two guys spanned all those years.
When Johnny Carson 'was' the Tonight Show, at least one day a week, he took off, and folks like Joan Rivers, Don Rickles, Bob Newhart and many others were guest hosts. Jay Leno was guest host so often they called him the 'permanent guest host.' In over 20 years, how many times has Jay had a guest host? Now, he's sad he was 'fired.' Maybe he'll go somewhere in some of his 200 cars.
