Both Venus and Serena lost in the second round at the French Open today. Not what I was expecting but that's tennis. The damp weather was an equalizer. Great efforts by their opponents. Sad to see Tommy Haas have to retire yesterday. It looks like another shoulder problem. Hope it isn't too serious or require another surgery. That would be difficult to come back from . but if anyone could, it would be ironman Tommy Haas. Stan went down yesterday too. When you're at the top of the game, everyone's gunning for you and peaks for their matches with you. Its much easier to get there than to stay there, although I believe Stan has the game to stay there.

Can everybody be a successful cricketer? Can everybody can solve maths if they work really hard? Answer according Rahul Dravid is No. Some were down the line there is talent, then hard work then there is temperament and passion. So not everybody who work hard can achieve u need to know what ur good at and use ur talent. Luck does play major role. Tommy Haas works more harder than any tennis player out there but he find hard to win grandslams. Some were down the line talent is important. Spot ur talent soon.

Tommy Haas Wouldn't it be great if Tommy Haas could win the singles title at Wimbeldon this year? He faces Novak Djokovic next in the round of 16. Tommy did beat Novak in Miami in April. It was a night match, on hard court in extremely windy conditions. Haas played aggressively and attacked the Djokovic forehand. Novak was not at his best. Nevertheless, it was a great performance by the 35 year old German. Tommy Haas last played Novak Djokovic at Wimbeldon is 2009. Tommy won. Even though he will not have the London odds-makers in his corner, a healthy Tommy Haas always has a chance. It was just last summer when Tommy beat Roger Federer on grass. I would love Tommy to win. It is always great for tennis teaching when a player, like Tommy Haas, with efficient technique wins. Plus he has faced such adversity throughout his career with injuries. He missed two entire years on tour. During one of the years when he was unable to play the tour both his parents survived a life-threatening motorcycle accident. In 20 ...
Djokovic cruises to win over Chardy 29 June 2013 Updated 19:41 GMT World number one Novak Djokovic cruised into the fourth round of Wimbledon with victory over 28th seed Jeremy Chardy. Djokovic made just three unforced errors on his way to a 6-3 6-2 6-2 win over the Frenchman, who found his opponent unplayable. The Serb, 26, lost just six points on his own serve, in a match which lasted one hour and 26 minutes, to send out a warning to the rest of the draw. His last-16 opponent will be Tommy Haas, who beat Feliciano Lopez. Djokovic and Chardy's last meeting came at Wimbledon in 2011, when the eventual champion again made easy work of his opponent, winning 6-4 6-1 6-1. "I felt very confident stepping onto the court but it's never easy against Chardy, he's a quality player," said Djokovic. "Everything went my way. I haven't lost many points on my service game, I enjoyed it very much and it's very enjoyable when everything works well. "Not many times on the grass against a big server do you get to return th ...
Is yo Fed lost.. Nadal lost... And I don't like anyone else in the tournament except Tommy Haas... So i guess I done watching Wimbledon this year
Novak Djokovic proved shock-proof as a sense of order was restored on Tuesday after the tremors that rumbled around Wimbledon on opening night following Rafa Nadal's defeat. A day that began with Belgium's Steve Darcis waking up as the sport's latest giant-slayer after his shock first round defeat of 12-times major champion Nadal on Monday, continued in far less dramatic fashion at the All England club. Djokovic outmanoeuvred Mayer, a player just outside the top 32 seeds and who he faced in the quarterfinals last year, for a 6-3 7-5 6-4 victory. Nadal's fourth-seeded compatriot David Ferrer, who he beat to win an eighth French Open, completed a far-from-memorable Centre Court programme with a 6-1 4-6 7-5 6-2 win against Argentina's Martin Alund despite several tumbles. Other men's seeds also flourished with Czech 2010 runner-up Tomas Berdych, Argentine 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro, Germany's Tommy Haas and talented Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov all enjoying straight sets wins. Djokovic had not ...

Tennis Roger Federer's first title in 2013 came at a place where he's had much success. The Swiss superstar rallied past Russian Mikhail Youzhny by a 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 6-4 margin to capture his sixth Gerry Weber Open title. In the process, Federer improved to 15-0 all-time against Youzhny. Federer lost to Rafael Nadal in his other final this year last month in Rome. He was a quarterfinal loser to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga last weekend at the French Open, but was able to turn around his season on his favorite surface. Grass has always suited Federer well. Seven of his record 17 Grand Slam titles have come on the famed lawns of Wimbledon, where he will return later this month as defending champion. Federer, who is now 6-2 in title matches in Halle, improved to 121-17 on grass. Federer previously won this tournament from 2003-06 and again in 2008. He lost to Lleyton Hewitt in the 2010 finale before falling to Tommy Haas last year. "I'm very happy. It was a great week for me and my family," said Federer, who won his 7 ...

Djokovic will now meet Rafael Nadal for a place in the final, and Mats believes the Serb stands a better chance of beating the Spanish clay-court master in the semis rather than in the championship game, as he explains in the video below: Mats also casts his expert eye over how Nadal won through, with a straight-set victory over Stanislas Wawrinka, and says the conditions suited the world number four: On the women's side, Maria Sharapova roared back from a terrible first set to beat Jelena Jankovic and book her place in the semi-finals; Mats gives his analysis of that match here: Sharapova will play Victoria Azarenka, who reached her first Roland Garros semi-final with victory over Maria Kirilenko. Highlights and Mats' analysis, notably of a marathon fi ...
What a day of tennis! My girl Maria Sharapova gave me a HUGE scare this morning when she lost the first set to Jelena Jankovic 0-6! She made a fantastic comeback and took the last two set 6-4, 6-3 to move on the semi-finals. In the semi-finals she will play Victoria Azarenka who beat Maria Kirilenko 7-6, 6-2. Rafael Nadal dominates the "other Swiss" Stanislas Wawrinka in straights and then Novak Djokovic beat the ageless Tommy Haas in straights as well.
No. 1 seed Novak Djokovic beat Tommy Haas in straight sets to advance to the French Open semifinals.
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will meet in the French Open semi final after respective wins over Tommy Haas and Stanislas Wawrinka. World number 1 Djokovic, who has never won the French Open, was to battle hard by his German opponent but managed to seal a straight sets win 6-3, 7-6, 7-5. The Serbian's bid to complete the Grand Slam set on clay this year will now look to avenge his final defeat against fit again Spaniard, Nadal, whose comfortable 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 win against Switzerland's Wawrinka in an hour and 56 minutes. The 3rd seed has recovered well from the knee injury which forced him out of action for 7 months with 6 titles from 8 finals since his return. And he will be looking to see off Djokovic and go on to pick up his 8th title in Paris this month.

I'm rooting for the underdogs today in Tommy Haas, and Stanislas Wawrinka. Hopefully one of the two can pull off the upset, despite the fact that a Nadal vs Djokovic match would be exciting to watch.
Both Victoria Azarenka and Maria Sharapova had to endure tough first sets in their quarterfinal match-ups but both women prevailed and will meet each other in the semi-final. Sharapova commited an astonishing 20 Unforced Errors and dropped a bagel in her first set against Jelena Jankovic before finally winning the match -06, 6-4, 6-3. Meanwhile, Vika had to win her first set against former Doubles partner Maria Kirilenko in a tie-break 7-6 before cruising towards victory with a second set score of 6-2. The Women's Semi-Finals take place tomorrow. Next up are Rafa Nadal against Stanislas Wawrinka Official on Court Philippe Chatrier and Novak Djokovic against Tommy Haas on Court Suzanne Lenglen.
2 p.m. Maria Sharapova takes on Jelena Jankovic... Rafael Nadal is looking to stop Stan the man. Victoria Azarenka will have a tough one trying to defeat Maria Kirilenko. Novak Djokovic vs. Tommy Haas, does age matter !?
Today is the second day of the French Open quarter-finals. On the men's side Novak Djokovic tackles Tommy Haas and Rafael Nadal faces Stanislas Wawrinka, while on the women's side Jelena Jankovic plays Maria Sharapova and Maria Kirilenko is up against Victoria Azarenka. Who will you be backing?
Tommy Haas got off to a quick start against Mikhail Youzhny in the French Open fourth round, and it was Youzhny's racquet that paid the price.
Stanislas Wawrinka broke the heart of Richard Gasquet and those of the French fans on Day 9, coming back from 2 sets to love down to book a spot in the quarter-finals. Day 9 Recap Gasquet looked likely to join compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarter-finals when he claimed the first two sets against ninth seed Wawrinka, offsetting some smoking winners from the Swiss with some clever play of his own. But some heated exchanges with chair umpire Carlos Ramos seemed to rejuvenate the Swiss star, who stormed back to claim the win 8-6 in the fifth set in just over 4 hours. Earlier in the day, Tommy Haas became just the third German male after Boris Becker and Michael Stich to reach the quarter-finals of all the majors when he whipped Mikhail Youzhny in straight sets, the Russian suffering a meltdown midway through the match as he smashed his racquet nine times in a row in a clip sure to be replayed countless times on YouTube. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic stayed on course for a blockbuster semi-final, bot ...
Good day of French Open tennis. My sweetheart Maria Kirilenko won and 'old man' Tommy Haas also advanced in straight sets.
Second seed Maria Sharapova eased into the French Open quarter-finals with a comfortable win over Sloane Stephens. The reigning champion recorded a 6-4 6-3 triumph over the American 17th seed. Victoria Azarenka will meet Maria Kirilenko after defeating 2010 champion Francesca Schiavone 6-3 6-0. Tommy Haas thrashed Mikhail Youzhny to set up a last-eight meeting with Novak Djokovic, while Stanislas Wawrinka will face Rafael Nadal after fighting back to beat Richard Gasquet in five sets.
Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Tommy Haas, Roger Federer, Victoria Azarenka, Maria Krilenko all make it to the last eight of Roland Garros 2013.

Tommy Haas, 35, oldest men's quarterfinalist in a Grand Slam tournament in singles since Andre Agassi, an older 35, at 2005 USOpen
Thoughts... On Age, Athleticism and Being Grumpy The scene: Saturday morning, parked in my recliner in front of the TV, latte in hand, tablet in lap, feet up and watching the French Open. (Grand Slam tennis tournament for those of you who could care less) I turn to my wife of 42 years and mutter, "This really ticks me off." Here, the commentators are gushing about Tommy Haas, an aging tennis pro and how, at age 35, (ONLY STINKING 35!), he is moving so well and how remarkable it is that he is holding his own against younger players. I say, "Big frickin' deal! Try adding 30 years, a hip replacement, a knee replacement, rotator cuff surgery, pending second knee replacement, general osteoarthritis and a charming touch of obesity and let's see how well he does." For it was last night after about two hours of mixed doubles, riding topdown through the warm Arizona darkness, Darlene driving with me sitting in the rider's side with ice bags on my knees and a gelpack on my shoulder, that I enlightened her with the ...

World Sports News Tomic feeling 'unstoppable' after 1st win Feeling "unstoppable" after capturing his breakthrough ATP title, Bernard Tomic believes anything is possible in the Australian Open. The Queenslander continued his remarkable transformation with a gutsy 6-4 6-7 (7-2) 6-3 win over South African Kevin Anderson at the Sydney International on Saturday night in his first ATP final. It completed a marvellous day for Australian tennis, after Lleyton Hewitt had earlier secured the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne. World Sports News Qualifier earns respect from Haas When German veteran Tommy Haas first made the Auckland final in 1998, he reckons tournament qualifiers weren't up to much. Nowadays he says the depth has improved - which is why he won't take Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling easily on Wednesday. After a fantastic comeback 2012 in which his ranking rose to 21, Haas earned third seeding for the Auckland Open, and with it a free pass into the second round. His opponent will be Sijsling, the world number 70, who qualified for the tournament on Monday and then earned a second round berth by beating countryman Robin Haase 3-6 6-3 7-5. "Maybe when I first started in '96 or '97 the guy that was ranked 90 in the world or the guy that was qualifying, you're not going to see them maybe like deep into a tournament," Haas said. "Now that has changed where everybody is playing really good tennis and it's really deep, everybody knows how to play this game so you can't take any match easily or go out there thinking you're ...

Roger Federer says he won’t play as often in the next few years and hopes to compete in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The 31-year-old Federer says he’ll be more mindful about the tournaments he plays in the future to make sure he can continue playing at a high level. “I have to make sure that I take care of my schedule, of my body, of my mind,” he said on Thursday. “Hopefully, I can still stay on tour for many more years and hopefully play the Olympics here in three-and-a-half years or so, so I have to look far ahead and not just the next six months.” The winner of 17 Grand Slams is in Sao Paulo hosting exhibition matches involving Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Serena Williams, Caroline Wozniacki, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Tommy Robredo, Tommy Haas and Thomaz Bellucci. The Bryan Brothers, Bob and Mike, are also participating. Federer plays Bellucci, Brazil’s top-ranked player, on Thursday.
