De Kock > tsolekile. We can't bench him for thami. Thami has to be better. Merit!
Not forgetting when Graeme Smith said "if you select Thami tsolekile for the squad, I will resign as test captain"
CSA took Thami Tsolekile to India for his test debut & did nothing to help him adjust his technique to the conditions then dropped him.
We'll never know what kind of international career Thami Tsolekile could have had... They robbed him of the opportunity.
Were you embrrassed when Thami Tsolekile was the best keeper/batsman and had a CSA contract but never played??
Thami Tsolekile and Chilliboy Ralephele are prime examples of the bias our people have to deal with

CSA NAMES VAN ZYL AND PIEDT AS NEW TEST CAPS Tuesday, 3 June 2014 Cricket South Africa (CSA) today named Stiaan van Zyl and Dane Piedt as new caps in the Proteas Castle Lager Test match squad for the tour to Sri Lanka next month while Beuran Hendricks has been included in the Castle Lager ODI squad for the first time. Quinton De Kock and Kyle Abbott, who were not in the original squad for the Sunfoil Test Series against Australia but were called up as injury replacements, have been retained and there is also a recall for Imran Tahir. The players to drop out of the Test squad are Thami Tsolekile, Rory Kleinveldt, Ryan McLaren and Robin Peterson while Graeme Smith has retired. Hendricks made his debut for the Proteas in the KFC T20 Series against Australia and also went to the ICC World Twenty20 that followed. He now makes his 50 overs debut in the place of Lonwabo Tsotsobe who is recovering from surgery and could not be considered. The other changes see Faf du Plessis take the place of the retired Smith an ...
THE bizhub Highveld Lions have made four changes and added a youthful edge to their side as they attempt to finally register a RAM SLAM T20 win in Friday’s match against the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium. While some of the changes were enforced by the unavailability of Proteas Test players, coach Geoffrey Toyana has made others with a view to freshening up the energy in the squad. Pakistan seamer Sohail Tanvir and batsman Gulam Bodi have dropped out of the squad, as have Proteas players Alviro Petersen and Thami Tsolekile. Stephen Cook, Temba Bavuma, Pumelela Matshikwe and Devon Conway have all come in, while Neil McKenzie will stand in as captain for the games on Friday and Sunday. “We’ve played eight or 10 T20 matches if we count the Champions League Twenty20 as well, and we haven’t won one game,” said Toyana, “so the biggest motivation for us to just get back to winning ways. “I’ve called up a few guys who have not had an opportunity so that t ...
bizhub Highveld Lions captain Thami Tsolekile is facing something of a dilemma as he attempts to resurrect their flagging RAM SLAM T20 campaign with a positive result in Friday’s televised match against The Unlimited Titans at Senwes Park. After losing their first three games in the competition Tsolekile knows that they must win just about every match going forward, but he also appreciates that it will take a little time for him to create the healthy environment required to turn things around. Tsolekile took up the captaincy last weekend after Alviro Petersen resigned, but says he was heartened by the manner in which the Lions went about their business in Wednesday’s 15-run loss to the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras. “I don’t mind the way we lost against the Cobras because you could see we put up a fight, whereas the other games we just got rolled over,” he said. “The games are coming thick and fast now and Friday is an opportunity to start winning. If you win one, you can win two or th ...
“Interference by the board and the convenor of selectors” led Alviro Petersen to resign as the captain of the Highveld Lions on Sunday. He has been replaced as skipper by Thami Tsolekile for the rest of the Ram Slam T20 fixtures.
Alviro Petersen steps down as a captain of Lions, Thami Tsolekile takes over the captaincy role until vice-captain Jean Symes comes back from injury...
It looks like a tough second season in charge is getting tougher for Highveld Lions coach Geoffrey Toyana, with the news that Alviro Petersen quit the Lions captaincy last week due to interference from the board in team matters. Thami Tsolekile has been appointed as captain for the rest of the Domestic T20 Challenge
Agreed, but 2late, 2old now!“Eish sad “Thami Tsolekile should follow Sipho Mzaidume.
The only thing bad about Thami Tsolekile is his age (33) ☹...But there's been many late bloomers in Cricket
& to add into Thami Tsolekile's good stats, he's a player of "quota" so transformation is what talks about...plz implement it!
Tsolekile has never commanded a Protea spot, IMO. What does he offer? We have AB keeping, De Kock as the next option. Both bat well! Thami??
Thami Tsolekile has had a really good average of over 50 on domestic 4-day competition in the last 3yrs, its now his time
Lets not do this. Please. Thami Tsolekile is an average batsman and keeper (we already have 2). What the *** does he offer?
Ryan Mclarren for Jacques position looks legit but guys its Thami Tsolekile's time or we'll really pull the race card on you
Spare a thought for Thami Tsolekile. traveling with the test side for years. Two retirements in 12 months Still no start.
Can some1 tell me why did Greame Smith not play for the Southerns yesterday, was it because that Thami Tsolekile was also playing for the Southerns.ndiyazibuzela nje?
It's all good being the best wicketkeeper in the country but it doesn't matter if you can't bat Thami Tsolekile
WICKET! Tsolekile 0 lbw Morris. Thami falls over a straight one and is trapped right in front. South 147-9
This is the reason why Thami Tsolekile will never play again for the Proteas
We all know Thami Tsolekile is a glorified 12th man. he will never be as great as
Nt even in an unofficial game like this, Thami tsolekile doesn't get game time
I am deeply saddened by the comments and blatant bad mouthing of Thami Tsolekile by Wanted to leave it but just can't.

KNIGHTS BEAT COBRAS TO GO TOP THE Chevrolet Knights turned the Sunfoil Series log on its head when they beat the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras by two wickets at Sahara Park Newlands on Sunday. The result means that the Knights now top the log with the bizhub Highveld Lions in second place in spite of their heavy loss to the Sunfoil Dolphins today. The Chevrolet Warriors also won outright and there are now only three points separating the top four teams. Craig Alexander took a career best 6/38 to finish off the bizhub Highveld Lions second innings and give the Sunfoil Dolphins victory by 398 runs at Senwes Park. The Lions, 73/6 overnight, were dismissed for 102 with Thami Tsolekile (27*, 36 balls, 2 fours) running out of partners. David Miller, who scored centuries in both Dolphins innings, was named Sunfoil Man of the Match. The Unlimited Titans, 84/4 overnight in pursuit of an unlikely target of 440 for victory, were quickly in trouble on the final day of their match when Wayne Parnell dismissed Albie Morkel ...
De Kock takes on the red ball Potchefstroom - New Proteas sensation Quinton De Kock returns to domestic cricket on Thursday determined to press his case for Test honours after taking the one-day series against India by storm. De Kock’s three centuries in three one-day games was not enough to earn a place in the South African Test side, but he will have a fresh opportunity to state his case when the Highveld Lions host the Dolphins in a Sunfoil Series encounter at Senwes Park. “He’s been at training and the boys are really happy for him,” said Lions skipper Stephen Cook. “They’ve seen the work that he’s put in first hand, so the boys are very proud. “He turned 21 on Tuesday, so for him to have achieved what he did before the age of 21 is fantastic. It’s great to have him back in our side - he brings that flair and exuberance. “There’s been talk about him stepping up to Test cricket, and I think the message has been unofficially put out that he should go back to domestic cricket and ge ...
Thami Tsolekile has been called to the squad. The question is, will they play him or will Smith tell them he cant play. I thought to play for national team is on merit
Proteas call up Kyle Abbott Johannesburg - Dolphins fast bowler, Kyle Abbott, has been added to the Proteas' squad for the second Test against India, starting in Durban on December 26. Abbott is brought in as cover for Morné Morkel, who badly sprained his ankle in the first Test at the Wanderers over the weekend. The Test finished in a thrilling draw after South Africa finished on 450/7, chasing 458 for victory. The Proteas travel to Durban on Monday to begin preparations for the match. Proteas squad: Graeme Smith (captain), AB de Villiers (vice-captain), Kyle Abbott, Hashim Amla, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Dean Elgar, Imran Tahir, Jacques Kallis, Rory Kleinveldt, Alviro Petersen, Robin Peterson, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Thami Tsolekile. Proteas captain Graeme Smith apparently threatened 2 quit if da only black African player Thami Tsolekile was selected 2 play
If I remember well Thami Tsolekile was supposed 2 over gloves afta the retirement of Mark Boucher nd nw there r rumours of Graeme Smith threatenin 2 quit if Tsolekile makes it 2 the squad*smh*...sumthing is wron here
My question is why giving someone a national contract and you don't end up playing him?..You can all say what you want but put yourself in Thami Tsolekile's shoes this whole problem should be blamed on CSA because if they don't see the guy worth then why awarding him with a contract..Its time to think out of the box and stop being one sided
I'd also quit if I had to have Thami Tsolekile in my team! He wouldn't even make the Bangladesh or Zim team!
Cricket South Africa has moved in sweeftly to rubish rumours that captain Greame Smith threatened to resign over the inclusion of black wicketkeeper-batsman Thami Tsolekile in the 15- man squad for the ongoing 2-match test series against India ahead of young Quinton De Kock. The former has not played any test cricket since 2004 while the later recently cloacked a record 3 consective ODI centuries against the same opposition. CSA said the left handed captain Smith is not involved in team selection.
Greame Smith on racist remarks "its alleged he said he will quit if Thami Tsolekile is selected for Proteas" Ma humble opinion is I wouldn't mind if he quits to day.
My opinion..What has Faf du Plesis done for Test squad ever since that Test he saved us in Australia apart from fielding..I think Thami Tsolekile should replace Faf and Abd will fully concentrate on his batting.De Kock by his own admission need to score runs in domestic level and its no harm giving Thami the opportunity..its my opinion so you can discredit it..S
CSA dismiss rumours of Smith threatening to quit: Cricket South Africa and Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula dismissed widespread rumours that South Africa skipper Graeme Smith had threatened to resign if wicketkeeper Thami Tsolekile was selected in the eleven for the series against India.
Did Smith really threaten to quit if Thami Tsolekile was selected?
I don't like Smith...ths guy is suppose to be excluded it makes no sence sometimes how he can say that if Thami Tsolekile is recalled he will stop playing for South Africa, who he think he is?? Proteas its not his team. For god sake he s not even perfoming well. We need that young boy Quinton instant of him.

There are reports that proteas test captain Graeme Smith has said that if thami tsolekile can be included in the national team he himself can quit!!
South African Captain Graeme Smith has come out and said if Thami Tsolekile is to be included in the Proteus test team against India he will quit. Nci nci nci, where is the unity in diversity? Sumbdy explain ds plz.
Gram smith u are a rasist how could say tht 2 anather player bcs of his coulor.he sad i will quit if thami tsolekile joins the proties.how der u.
Thanks Mbaks for acknowledging the Thami Tsolekile and other black players struggle with these sports bodies!
Great session there by the Proteas, Alviro Peterson is looking resolute... a lead of 150 1fter this Innings shud set us for a victory fo this test match. Tahir can work his magic on the 4th Day, hopefully the wicket wud hv shifted in his favour for the least. Thami Tsolekile, the back-up Wicket-keeper, what is he doing in this team? Surely, doesn't deserve to be there, why not put De Kock in his place, just to get the Test cricket feel?
I don't like the way Thami Tsolekile is being used by Cricket South Africa..They should play they guy or just leave him alone because we all know he is the best wicketkeeper batsmen in the country
With a Test squad that has a 12-point lead at the top of the ICC rankings, South Africa's selectors are choosing to stick with a good thing. They named an unchanged 15-member squad for the two Tests against India from the one that played against Pakistan in the UAE. South Africa have won nine and lost only one of their last 13 matches in the 18 month period convener of selectors Andrew Hudson told ESPNcricinfo that was under consideration when deliberating the current squad. "If you look at that context and over that period, the team has been settled and has done exceptionally well. It's not really a time to start changing anything," he said. Graeme Smith, who was part of the one-day squad, but didn't play in any of the two ODIs, will return to lead the side in the Tests. South Africa lost the first Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi by seven wickets, but bounced back in Dubai with an innings and 92-run win. "We were very happy with the performance of the Proteas in the second Test match at Dubai," Andrew ...
Exceptional De Kock’s raking in runs 14 December By Lungani Zama Durban – If there was any lingering doubt about Quinton De Kock’s unique ability with the bat, it has been shattered – along with the Indian attack over the past fortnight. Like any precocious talent is wont to do, the left-handed opener has started to produce shots that simply take the breath away – as much for their end result as their cheeky brilliance. One of his trademarks is the nonchalant flick through mid-wicket to length balls that are pitched around off-stump – in stead of hitting it conventionally to mid-off, or cover perhaps. It is something approaching Kevin Pietersen’s “flamingo shot”, and India’s pacemen have been left scratching their heads, as perfectly reasonable balls disappear to the fence in a hurry. As the runs have flowed, De Kock’s natural flair has come to the fore. Spin with the new ball used to be his Achilles heel, as he used to grope at it anxiously, eager to feel the comfort of bat on ball. ...
There is a bad tendency amongst cricket and rugby authorities. When it comes to selecting a black player. There is always an excuse. ''He's too small,he's inexpereinced''. But when its a white player. They will throw him into the deep end. When Kolisi should have been in the team last year,we were told he is inexperienced. While a player like Jan Serfontein gets a starting position after a couple of months of rugby. Quinton De Kock is only 20 years. Yet he makes the team ahead of a more experienced player in the name of Thami Tsolekile. Note that Thami has been playing first class cricket for 10 years. Quinton has only been palying for a year. There are many more examples. Mbalula should start acting. Less rhetoric and more action is needed from him.
Congratulations to Imran Tahir, and Thami Tsolekile for their selection to the Proteas Castle Lager Test squad.
Professional Cricket players that played for SA and played SA Hockey include Jonty Rhodes and Thami Tsolekile. cc
I don't understand cricket S.A. they've appointed Boucher to mentor De Kock while he's playing in the ODI's, what about Thami Tsolekile?
Manoj Tiwary = Thami Tsolekile. You see, BCCI again sets an example and CSA follows it.
South Africa's Thami Tsolekile has talked down his non-selection in the Test team, following Makhaya Ntini's comment about race playing a role in him being consistently overlooked for the wicketkeepers' role - Cricket news from Australia v South Africa
Cricinfo article on South Africa team dispersing before the start of 2nd test match, "Graeme Smith, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel are driving up the coast. Alviro Petersen is headed directly to Adelaide to spend time with a friend, while Hashim Amla, Imran Tahir, Vernon Philander, Rory Kleinveldt, Robin Peterson and Thami Tsolekile will stay in Brisbane." Did any one else notice how the white players are hanging out among themselves and the brown ones are similarly chilling with each other. I have this theory that the reason South Africa team chokes at pressure cooker situation is because the team is too diverse. There is no real unity. perhaps i am wrong. I hope I am cuz I do like the SA team.
