Savages (2012 film) Cast Taylor Kitsch as Chon. Savages is a 2012 American crime thriller film directed by Oliver Stone. It is based on the novel of the same name by Don Winslow. The screenplay was written by Shane Salerno, Winslow and Stone. The film was released on July 6, 2012, and stars Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Demian Bichir, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, and Emile Hirsch. Plot Best friends John (Taylor Kitsch) and Ben (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) are marijuana growers living in Laguna Beach, California. Chon, a former Navy SEAL, smuggled the seeds for the plants out of Afghanistan, and got help in cultivating them from Ben, a graduate of University of California, Berkeley in business and botany. These seeds yielded a particularly potent strain of marijuana that soon developed a wide customer base and made Chon and Ben very wealthy, with Ben devoting time and money to doing charity work in Africa and Asia. The two are in a polyamorous relationship with Ophelia Sage ...
Three-time Oscar®-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone returns to the screen with the ferocious thriller Savages, featuring the all-star ensemble cast of Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Benicio Del Toro, Salma Hayek, Emile Hirsch and Demian Bichir. "Savages" starring Taylor Kitsch, John Travolta, Benicio Del Toro. I Don't smoke, but it's a great movie about cannabis.
Aaron Johnson wins this movie. Then again, they don't give Taylor Kitsch a whole lot to do. Even less for John Travolta.
Savages - The story of two Californian pot growers, Chon and Ben, in a very free love triangle with O (Blake Lively). Chon (Taylor Kitsch), and ex-navy seal smuggles seeds back from Afghanistan for his friend Ben (Aaron Johnson) to perfect into the ultimate smoke. Mexican cartels find out about the two and now want a piece. When the two turn down the cartel Lando (Benicio Del Toro) an enforcement officer for the cartel abducts O. Benicio Del Toro has one of the most convincing, vile, and evil characters I has seen! What in sues is a mad scramble and master plan to return their love to them. Rounding out the cast there are appearance roles of John Travolta (crooked DEA agent), and Selma Hayek (head of cartel). Despite what I consider a let down ending, it is definitely worth a watch
I really like Blake Lively and Taylor Kitsch, but I almost can’t stomach John Travolta anymore.
Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch (or however you spell it), Benecio Del Toro, and John Travolta.
Tonight at MLK, come watch the Oliver Stone-directed Savages, starring Taylor Kitsch, John Travolta and Selma Hayek.
and my movie picks of the week; 4. DEADFALL - Eric Bana, Olivia Wilde, Charlie Hunnam, Kris Kristofferson and Sissy Spacek. Nice plot. A tinge of incest and brutality but it will keep you glued to your seat til the end.. 3. COLUMBUS CIRCLE - Selma blair, Amy Smart, Giovanni Ribisi, Beau Bridges, Jason Lee. Well written. The plot develops in such a way that it holds you. 2. TOTAL RECALL - Colin Farrell, Kate Beckensale, Jessica Biel. A remake of the 80's movie of the same title starring Arnold Swarzzenegger. The plot is the same but with the latest video effects. Kate is and Jessica's fight scenes are superb. This action packed movie is a sure win for sci fi lovers... 1. SAVAGES - Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, John Travolta.. Very well written. This wall street meets the Godfather thingy. John Travolta once again shone but salma's role as the head of the drug cartel is even better... A must see movie..
the movie is starring Blake Lively, Taylor Kitsch from the movie "John Carter" and Salma Hayek and John Travolta :)
Savages When you hear names like Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, John Travolta, Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson and Benicio Del Toro, you'd certainly expect a memorable movie watching experience. Instead you are left wondering 'What the *** was that all about?' I am given to understand this movie is based on a novel but this sort of a crime thriller with such a comprehensive cast is something that directors like Ritchie or Tarantino are supposed to handle.
Savages - 3 out of 5 18 Oct 12 / MA15+ / 131 mins Unrelenting in both violence and pot-fuelled philosophy, Oliver Stone’s warring-drug-factions tale is occasionally tough to sit through – especially with its bloated runtime – but succeeds overall thanks to a collection of charismatic turns from the reliable cast. Benicio Del Toro steals the show as the ruthless cartel enforcer who gleefully tortures, murders and rapes at will; the Oscar winner spits and sneers with frightening force. Youngsters Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson and Blake Lively (who provides the useless narration) are excellent as the leading trio and Salma Hayek and John Travolta add a bit of colour in their smaller but pivotal roles. There’s a superb hijacking set piece at the midway point that proves Stone can still handle action, whilst his wacky directorial flourishes are sometimes cool and sometimes pretentious; the less said about the infuriating cop-out finale the better. Despite its imperfections 'Savages' is worth seeing, but ...
Very Interesting Interview: Live and learn guys! Oliver Stone tackles the drugs war in America's backyard With his latest film Savages, the acclaimed US director turns his vision to the murderous narcotics-fuelled conflict in Mexico Ed Vulliamy The Observer, Sunday 23 September 2012 John Travolta, who plays Dennis the DEA agent, with Taylor Kitsch (Chon) and director Oliver Stone on the set of Savages. Photograph: Moviestore/Rex Features A man steps across the floor of what seems to be a basement or dungeon, on a film shot by a wobbly, handheld camera. Blood, sticky underfoot, runs beneath his boots – and the camera catches what seems to be a severed head. The scene is being played on a computer screen, watched by an intense young man, transfixed. A beautiful girl looks also, over his shoulder. "Is that Iraq?", she asks, squirming at the degenerate and apparently gratuitous cruelty. "Mexico," replies the man with a grunt, clearly terrified himself. Welcome to the latest film by Hollywood's – even Amer ...
Oliver Stone's new film, Savages, offers a breakneck tour of the drug wars, pitting the hippie chancers of Laguna Beach against the badass professionals from south of the border. In the first camp we find the tie-dyed love triangle of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Blake Lively and Taylor Kitsch; in the second a gang of cut-throats headed by Benicio Del Toro and Salma Hayek. In the meantime, John Travolta's narcotics agent darts in and out of the action, on hand to keep the peace or pick the pockets, whatever comes easiest.
Savages - Overall quite a decent movie to watch if you're into sex, violence, gore, drugs, cartels, people snitching each other in a cross border drug business world. John Travolta, Taylor Kitsch, and Blake Lively (y) even acted in it~!~!

Savages was awesome. Taylor Kitsch and Aaron Johnson were badass, Blake Lively was sexy, Selma Hayek was sexy and ruthless, John Travolta was funny, and Benicio Del Toro was evil beyond comprehension. Great film altogether.
On the set of SAVAGES, how the *** did John Travolta keep his hands off of Taylor Kitsch?
Ben (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), a University of California, Berkeley graduate, and Chon (Taylor Kitsch), a former U.S. Navy SEAL are top marijuana growers, their product is the best in the business. Ben provides the brain and Chon the brawn as they run their operation successfully and relatively peacefully. They also share a girlfriend Ophelia (Blake Lively) and this threeway relationship works well. One day they are approached by representatives of Elena Sánchez (Salma Hayek) of the Baja Cartel. She wants to go into business with them. When Ben and Chon refuse to be involved with her, Elena sends her henchman Lado, (Benicio Del Toro) to kidnap Ophelia. Following the kidnap, the duo work with a corrupt DEA agent (John Travolta) to rescue Ophelia. This movies sounds pretty bomb..
‘SAVAGES’ Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively. A Mexican drug cartel kidnaps the free loving mutual girl friend of a couple California pot growers in order to take over their operation. The brutality is savage, Salma Hayek is hot and the story plot twists along with exciting action sequences keeping you occupied. Lively is the narrator while John Travolta plays the hapless corrupt agent that figures prominently in the plot. Effective music, photography and editing at times play like an operatic tragedy. 3 stars for Oliver Stone’s purely fictional crime thriller forgoing his usual political projects.
Matthew saw Savages in one theater with his mother and I saw it at the same time in a different theater so not quite the same as seeing it together but close. Matthew read the book first and he had some ideas written down before the movie came out as to what he thought the differences would be. He was very close once I opened the envelope to read what he wrote. The movie for me was dialogue heavy and rather slow in the first part and to much emphasis visually on the sexual relationship between the 3 characters. Salma Hayek makes for a good villainess and Benicio Del Toro was superb. John Travolta made the most out of what he was given. Taylor Kitsch, Blake Lively, Aaron Johnson were ok in their respective roles nothing outstanding. The ending was a huge twist and inventive...This gets 31/2 Bongs out of 5.
Two drug-dealing partners (Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson) refuse to join a Mexican cartel -- until the group kidnaps the girl (Blake Lively) they both love. That's when the bullets start flying. The stars make a sexy triangle, but John Travolta's sleazy agent and Salma Hayek's cartel queen really fir...
