UNBELIEVABLE: Barcelona want €50m rated Manchester United striker by tamojitc on June 19, 2014 Barcelona have been linked with a shock €50m move for Dutch striker Robin Van Persie as reported by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deperotivo. However the Catalan club can be rest assured that the 30 year old will stay at Old Trafford in the coming season with current Netherlands coach Louis Van Gaal taking charge of the Red Devils in the coming season. United do not want to sell Van Persie for any price as they aim to get back on track after a disastrous 2013-14 season under David Moyes. The story claims that Barcelona are eyeing up a possible move for a star striker in the summer with Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero also in the Blaugrana’s short list. It is believed that new manager Luis Enrique will oversee major changes at the Camp Nou after a disappointing season under Tata Martino. The story claims, “For Barcelona, Van Persie would be Real Madrid’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy wh ...
A return for Gerard Deulofeu to Everton for next season always looked a long shot. The reshuffling of manager at Barcelona – Luis Enrique replacing Tata Martino – will precede the overhauling of a squad in dire need of fresh faces. And Barcelona have a lot of reason to be impressed by Everton and Roberto Martinez’s handling of Deulofeu last term. A loan move was always on the cards for the Spanish winger, but the confirmation of a switch to Everton and the Premier League was greeted with much scepticism: was the Premier League the ideal fit when another La Liga club made much more sense? In hindsight, it was a brilliant move for all concerned. Everton will of course feel a little hard done by. Martinez took the right approach in easing Deulofeu into first-team action, allowing for full acclimatisation to an unfamiliar country. But when the youngster did finally get starts under his belt and looked every bit capable of helping Everton to a top four finish, he was cut down by injury, missing eight wee ...

Barcelona have had Frank Rjikaard, Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino and now Luis Enrique is on cue. Arsenal have just had Wenger.
'Tata' out, Barca confirm . Q: Should Barcelona have maintained their coach? . Details: Barcelona have confirmed coach Tata Martino has left the club by mutual consent. The Argentine only took over last summer but has failed to land a major trophy following a season blighted by problems off the pitch, including the controversy surrounding Neymar's move to the club, Sandro Rosell's resignation and the tragic passing of former boss Tito Vilanova late last month. Former Barca midfielder Luis Enrique is the overwhelming favourite to succeed Martino. He resigned as boss of Celta Vigo on Friday and Goal understands he is in pole position to take over at Camp Nou. Barca’s last hope of silverware in 2013/14 disappeared with Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Atletico Madrid. They went into the final-day contest needing a victory to land the Liga crown on a better head-to-head record than Atleti. All appeared to be going to plan when Alexis Sanchez put them in front in the first half but Diego Godin’s towering h ...

Manchester City transfer target Pedro has been put up for sale by Barcelona, according to Spanish newspaper Sport. The Spain international is one of 13 Barca stars made available for transfer this summer, with the La Liga giants set to undergo a root-and-branch clear-out at the end of the season. Pedro, who has been linked with United and City inside the last month, is reportedly unhappy under the management of Tata Martino and has rotated in the starting eleven with Alexis Sanchez. Despite the fact that Martino might not last the summer as Barca boss, the report claims Pedro could still be moved on anyway with just nine Barca first-team players judged "indispensable" by the club. Along with Pedro, Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, Javier Mascherano, Dani Alves, Adriano, Ibrahim Afellay, Jonathan Dos Santos, Cristian Tello, Isaac Cuenca, Sergi Roberto, Alexis Sanchez and Oier Olazbal. The only Barca stars not for sale are Leo Messi, Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Sergio Bu ...
Barcelona outcast Cristian Tello looks increasingly likely to leave the Nou Camp in the summer after a disagreement with Tata Martino. Tello questioned Martino's decision to put him on from the bench so late on in Barca's 2-2 draw with Getafe on Saturday, according to newspaper Mundo Deportivo, which has seemingly left the forward with no other option but to leave the club. The only way that Tello could potentially remain at the club is if Martino's expected successor wishes to retain the 22-year-old, who has become something of a forgotten man this season anyway and is believed to be keen on a move away in the summer.
Christian Tello has told Barcelona, he will not stay at the club if Tata Martino remains as manager
Barcelona's Tata Martino has backed Bayern Munich Pep Guardiola after he received criticism following the Champions League defeat to Real Madrid
Liverpool appear to face a significant battle with a very reputable rival for the signing of Martin Montoya, with reports suggesting that Bayern Munich are planning a move for the Barcelona starlet. This is according to reports from Germany cited by talkSPORT, which claim that Montoya - who only signed a new deal at the Camp Nou last month and is credited by such sources as a long-term Reds target - is also a target for Bayern, who will consider making an offer at the end of the season. While the new four-year deal handed to Montoya suggests that Barcelona are intent on keeping him for the foreseeable future, it is worth noting that the 23-year-old has played just 13 games in La Liga so far this season and is hardly considered first-choice under Tata Martino. The promise of first-team football could presumably tempt the £10 million-rated right-back into pondering a move away from the Catalans, with both Bayern Munich and Liverpool potentially attractive destinations given their respective domestic succes ...

Barcelona are eying David Moyes as a possible replacement for Tata Martino who is set to part ways with the Catalan club this summer
The 26-year-old has scored 25 league goals this season but there are indications that all is not well. He has struggled for the best part of a year with various knocks and niggles. His output on the field has noticeably decreased. Barca is enduring a torrid season and Messi cannot be absolved from blame. He endured derision for failing to cover the ground in the Barca's Champions League loss to Atletico Madrid. Radomir Antic, the former Barca coach, suggested that Messi deliberately failed to keep up as a means of punishment to Tata Martino who fielded him out of position. Messi remains behind only Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world but there are reasons for Barca to contemplate selling.

Barcelona lost against Atletico Madrid after four draws , announced the loss of qualified Atletico Madrid for the first time before the Champions League final in 40 years , and stressed that the team leader of Madrid's La Liga has become a node for Barcelona . This node is not made for one reason only , and would have been solved with such a large number of matches , but it resulted from a combination of elements that have transformed the node to the puzzle for Tata Martino failed to reach its solution. The first reason is to organize the defense of Atletico Madrid , Valvriv fought each confrontations principles and clear ... its based on not to rush confrontations defensive one -to-one in front of the Barcelona players talented without that there will be support from another player and the only time they breached the team this principle has been punished the most serious chance led by Xavi and wasted Neymar , as there defense tri- lasting Barca players who are able to work crosses deadly was Xavi and Ini ...

Real Madrid take on Barcelona in the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu tonight in an El Clasico clash that could go some way to deciding the destination of the La Liga title. Already four points ahead of the Blaugrana, a win for the hosts will open up a seven-point gap and effectively end Barca's hopes of keeping the trophy in Catalonia for another season. However, with only two defeats in their last 10 trips to the Spanish capital, Barca boast one of the best records of any visiting side. Tata Martino also remains unbeaten in the big fixtures this season, and if he can mastermind another victory, Barcelona will be right back in the title race.
"Tata Martino, a little like the great Sir Bobby Robson", steady on there.
Real Madrid v Barcelona - Tonight Live from 9.30 Coverage of the top-flight encounter between the two Spanish giants at the Bernabeu. Barca triumphed 2-1 over Real thanks to goals from Neymar and Alexis Sanchez in the first Classico of the season, but Carlo Ancelotti's Madrid have been in a rich vein of form since then. However, anything less than a victory for the hosts may well hand Tata Martino's Catalan side the advantage in the title race

Messi lifts Barça off the canvas: Barcelona booked their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals for the seventh straight year after beating Manchester City 4-1 on aggregate. The 'Azulgranas' may not be favourites, but they remain firmly in the running to lift the trophy for the fourth time in a decade. Though it was Dani Alves who made it 2-1 in stoppage time, a sucker punch that rendered City's 89th-minute consolation effort even hollower, Messi was once again the star of the show. The Argentine seized on Lescott's gaffe to give Barça the lead, hit the post in the second half, should have had a penalty before the break and even busted a gut for his side defensively. Having left City down for the count with the 2-0 first-leg win in Manchester, Barça weren't forced to work too hard to knock the Sky Blues out. Notwithstanding the odd moment of uncertainty, particularly in the second half, Tata Martino's men were hardly ever on the ropes, though they didn't exactly come out swinging either. Ultimatel ...

ONE OF FOOTBALL GREATEST UNSOLVED MYSTERY. To be SINCERE with you.Up till this moment, I don't know the reason why Barcelona signed Alex Song.Don't tell me Barca signed Alex Song in other to bench Busquets for that position or that Barca signed him in other to bench Pique in defence? I don't think so! Barcelona has other midfielders like Sergi Roberto who has been impressive under New coach Tata Martino and also Jonathan Dos Santos who has been out for long due to injury.Alex Song is better than this players but in terms of playing Barcelona style (TIKI-TAKA), they are better than Song. Whenever Song plays for Barcelona, they see less posession because of his dullness - and the Cameroonian's signing to cover both central defence and the midfield holding role remains my greatest mystery. His errors is not what to right home about.Atleast playing alongside with XAVI and INIESTA should have help him gain more experience as a player. But instead of getting better,he keeps on getting WORSE.He is playing because ...

Sociedad 3-1 Barcelona - Tata Martino was such a joke tonight, how can u rest 6 of our key players, Alexis, Fabregas, Xavi, Dani Alves, Jordi Alba, Mascherano were all rested against a very talented Sociedad side, you start with Busquets and Song in the midfield, who does that, we had no win at the Estadio Anoeta for 7 years and you play bench players like Song, Adriano, Bartra, Montoya in such a tough game, bad night for us, Tata has really disapponted me today
Training focussed on Real Sociedad game Jordi Alba was missing from training this morning, joining Cuenca and Dos Santos with some specific recovery work After a day’s rest following their great win in Manchester on Tuesday night the squad were back in training this morning with the focus switching to Saturday’s trip to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad. Martino was able to call on all his available players for the session, plus Bagnack from Barça B, who joined in the second part of training, whilst Jordi Alba, who finished the game against City with a hamstring strain, Isaac Cuenca and Jonathan Dos Santos all worked on recovery activities from their respective injuries. The squad will be back in training this Friday morning - the final session before they travel to the Basque Country – after which Tata Martino will give a press conference

Upon Barcelona’s return from Manchester, medical tests revealed that Jordi Alba has sustained a hamstring strain in his right leg. He will spend the week recovering, and it is unclear if he will be fit for the trip to La Anoeta on Saturday to face Real Sociedad. It is a must-win match for Barcelona, but Tata Martino will not likely risk Alba’s health when he has a more than capable substitute in Adriano. [visa totalbarca]
Liverpool are said to be considering a summer move for Cristian Tello after the winger dropped out of favour at Barcelona, [football] direct news understands. Young Spanish winger Tello has struggled to force his way into Tata Martino's plans at Camp Nou, despite having signed a new contract with the club that would tie him through until 2018. The 22-year-old had featured in seven consecutive games for Barca in January but has since lost his place due to the impressive form of Alexis Sanchez and Pedro Rodriguez.
Chelsea defender David Luiz is top of Barcelona's wanted list again as they prepare for the summer transfer window. Barca's coach Tata Martino and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta have drawn up their hit-list of targets and Luiz is on their agenda as they look to bring in a centre-half and a goalkeeper. The Spanish champions were keen on Brazil international Luiz last summerbut the Blues' returning manager Jose Mourinho refused to sell and the frizzy-haired fan favourite has played regularly under the Special One this season.Barcelona believe the 26-year-old is perfect for their squad next season and are likely to try again to test Chelsea's resolve, but fear former employee Mourinho may not want to do business with them.In addition, their valuation may only be around £22million, which is unlikely to be enough to tempt the Londoners to do business. Borussia Moenchengladbach and Germany keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is wanted by the Catalans to replace the outgoing Victor Valdes.
Manchester City, these dudes are averaging 3 plus goals in every game, 3 weeks to go and we Barcelona fans have started to get worried and scared of this Man City team, it has taken me a while to admitt it but finally i have admitted that Man City is capable of knocking us out, i know the history and pedigree are all on our side but these guy's scoring rate is very scary, i think even our coach Tata Martino is scared, Barcelona has made the Champions League Semi Finals for a record 6 consecutive seasons since 2008 so Manuel Pellegrini's team will be looking on breaking that record

The father of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has dismissed talk of a move to Barcelona. Aguero has been linked with Barca, where Argentine coach Tata Martino is a big fan. Leonel del Castillo, Aguero’s father, said: "I would like to see Sergio and Messi playing together, but there is nothing at all. "Sergio and Leo always speak and more after the Champions League draw. They're good friends, like laughing and they're already joking between them ahead the City v Barça clash. "We will see two great games. I don't know if I will visit Messi's home, but I will go to hotel for sure to say hello to him. I think it will be a 2-0 in England and at least a 0-1 in Barcelona. Mid-season review: Good job Tata Top of the league, through to the UEFA Champions League’s round of sixteen, qualified for the Copa del Rey’s round of sixteen and Supercopa de España champions. This is how it stands right now for FC Barcelona under Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino’s leadership…and it couldn’t have gone any better. Tata Martino took charge of a team that had been recently torn apart in the Champions League by Bayern Munich and suffered significant home defeats from both Bayern and Real Madrid. Although La Liga champions, change was very much needed. Barça lacked creativity when attacking and the defensive line couldn’t have been worse, and fans started to think: Is it Tito? Are some of the players getting old? Are the players no longer hungry for trophies? Do we need Pep back? Martino’s acceptance to join Barça was the first plus in his favor, with so much pressure being put on the team and demands of the return of the all conquering Barça we had gotten used to. Some questioned ...

Barcelona looking to make exciting addition from within La Liga-- There's a new name linked with Barcelona today by Mundo Deportivo and it's another defensive target. These things seem to go in cycles with the Catalan press and Barcelona, one week the club will be linked with an expensive CB such as David Luiz and then it will be decided by the newspapers that he's out of reach and then a potential free transfer will be brought into the picture. The latest of those is 23 year old Mateo Musacchio. He currently plays for Villarreal but his deal runs out in June and Tata Martino was seen talking to him when the two sides last met, the pair had a chat after the game. Mateo Musacchio has represented the full Argentina team twice, but his last appearance was way back in 2011 and unless there's injuries to other players it's not thought he'll be in contention for the World Cup squad next summer. The future of the young Paraguayan starlet has been up in the air in recent weeks after he rejected the chance to extend his contract at Barcelona in early November. It has now been revealed that Sanabria has rejected a second offer from officials at the Nou Camp and has decided that his future lies elsewhere. Spanish daily El Mundo Deportivo claims that the 17-year-old has already verbally agreed to join another club and the favourites to land his signature are Arsene Wenger's Arsenal and AS Roma. It is reported that both the Gunners and Roma are prepared to pay €3m to make sure they sign the player in January in a deal that could rise to €4m or €5m. Arsenal were reported to have sent out their transfer dealmaker *** Law last week to convince Sanabria and his family that the Emirates is the best place for him to be. Sanabria, who has already been capped by Paraguay, decided to leave Barcelona after Tata Martino refused to guarantee that he would be given playing time at the Nou Camp. He is reporte ...
Gerard Deulofeu .I think next season Tata Martino should start thinking of a way to fuse this dude into his team
It is perfectly possible to disagree about many things concerning Tata Martino, but the one thing that can't be said is that he is a manager without any character, or a coach who opts for the simplest decisions. In an extremely tricky situation, with Barça losing 1-0 at San Mamés, the manager made two surprising substitutions. In less than ten minutes at San Mamés, two of the brightest stars of the Barcelona dressing room were taken off. First Xavi gave way to Sergi Roberto, and a few minutes after that, Iniesta made way for Pedro. This is not the first time of course, and nor will it be the last, that Barcelona's big stars are chosen to come off the field. Both Xavi and Iniesta have been withdrawn in a number of games this season, and even Messi and Neymar have been taken off in one game. And up to now, "Tata" Martino's substitution policy has brought positive results. It now remains to be seen if, with Atlético de Madrid offering no quarter, Martino holds to his philosophy.
Goal.comBarcelona legend Johan Cruyff believes that the Catalan giants have not changed their style since the arrival of Tata Martino this summer. The Blaugrana have come in for heavy criticism for their direct approach this term, and lost 2-1 to Ajax in…
é was one of the big stories of the weekend, particularly at the Camp Nou. The Catalan of Malian descent became the eighth youngest player to feature in the league for Barcelona and made his mark, nearly scoring a fine goal. Traoré's rise has been nothing short of extraordinary, having so impressed Tata Martino that he now regularly trains with the first team, despite having yet to start for Barcelona B. Adama is set to go from the UEFA Youth League to the real McCoy; from regular flights to the comforts of the senior squad's charter plane. Having been spotted by Tata Martino at the Mini Estadi on 12th October, he is one of the Barça coach's protégés. On that occasion, Martino went to see the B-team face Deportivo de La Coruña and was bowled over by the winger's pace and power. The latest in a line of talented wingmen produced by La Masia – after Pedro, Tello, Cuenca and Deulofeu – the 17-year-old also made a big impression on André Villas-Boas, who was in the crowd. The Portuguese coach has in ...
Young Barcelona striker Adama Traore has told of his pride at making his debut for the Catalans against Granada on Saturday. Barca boss Tata Martino fast-tracked Adama into his squad due to a spate of injuries after he had played just four times for the club’s B team, and introduced the 17-year-old for Neymar eight minutes from time. “I felt very proud after so many years of working and staying at home here in La Masia. My teammates gave me confidence and it’s very easy to play with footballers like [Andres] Iniesta, Pedro and the rest,” he told Barca TV. “Thanks to them and the coaching staff who showed confidence in me, I was able to relax. Everyone was congratulating me. It was a great joy. “Now I’ll go back to Barca B and I’m very happy, hopefully not only for this game because I hope to get the opportunity to play more minutes in the future,” said Adama, who learned he is also in the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Ajax.
Tata Martino in his post match press conference: “We controlled the pace of the game”
WHAT WE LEARNT FROM THE La Liga *Messi-dependency has been laid to rest As soon as poor Leo limped off with a hamstring.knack, Barça suddenly began to click, with Andrés Iniesta coming off the bench and Pedro reminding everyone he still existed. The papers had reported that the Spanish World Cup winner wanted a move away from the Camp Nou, having recently fallen behind Alexis Sánchez and Neymar in the pecking order. But Pedro scored perhaps La Liga Loca's favourite goal of the weekend, when passing to himself before finishing beautifully in a comprehensive 4-1 beating of Betis. While an injury-troubled Messi would have been an enormous problem for Barcelona last season, the impact has been lessoned with the goal- scoring and goal-creating burden spread around a talent-stuffed forward line, as shown in Seville on Sunday night. *Tata Martino may just be a managerial genius Alex Song playing Xavi-esque through balls? Case closed. *THE WEEKEND'S RESULTS Osasuna 0-1 Almeria Granada 3-1 Malaga Real Madrid 5- ...

CONCEDING FEWER GOALS THAN DURING THE GUARDIOLA ERA Barça learns to change its stripes Barça's last game at Balaídos offered us a surprise in the starting eleven: Busquets and Song together in the centre of defence. The solidity at the back in the clash against Celta together with the image which we were left with in the 'Clásico', when the 'Azulgrana' outfit focussed more on defensive tasks, are Tata Martino's unmistakable hallmark. This is the most practical version of Barça that we have seen. The Argentinean has already stated his philosophy in several press conferences. Barça's opponents are all too familiar with its style of play. It is worth having a 'Plan B' for certain situations and specific games, to put a different slant on its style so that the team is less predictable. In keeping with this idea, we have caught our first glimpse of the side's ability to change its stripes and vary its game depending on the scenario this season. We saw a counterattacking Barcelona in Vallecas. Against Rea ...
It wasn't the most enthralling match we've seen between Real Madrid and Barcelona lately, but Tata Martino got his tactics right while Carlo Ancelotti found his sorely lacking. Barcelona kept all three points at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona coach Tata Martino faced Real Madrid once as a player, losing 0-1 with Tenerife in a league game in 1991.
GARETH FEE JUSTIFIED Former Real Madrid star Roberto Carlos believes the club were right to pay a world-record transfer fee to sign Gareth Bale. Real splashed out a reported €100million (£85.3m) to bring the Wales international to Spain at the end of the transfer window last month. The size of the fee was criticised by some at the time of Bale moving to Spain, including Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino, who intimated that the price paid reflected a "lack of respect" for the financial conditions in the world outside of football. However, Carlos - a member of the last Real side to win the UEFA Champions League in 2002 - believes that Bale is worth the outlay. "They have paid that because he deserves it," he toldAS. "They also paid a lot for (Zinedine) Zidane, (Luis) Figo, Ronaldo, Cristiano (Ronaldo). Barcelona also paid much for Neymar. They are worth it. "That is why I don't understand Tata Martino's critique of the signing of Bale alluding to the economic situation. I have to pay for this type of playe ...
'AZULGRANAS' STILL STRUGGLING FROM SET PLAYS Barça defenders need to fight their own corner Set pieces continue to be the weak link in the Barcelona armour, particularly corners, from which the club has already conceded three goals this season, despite a change-up in marking schemes. Valencia's Postiga, Sevilla's Coke and Valladolid's Javi Guerra have all beaten Valdés from such situations. This year has seen Barça try out something new when defending corners, deploying a combination of the zonal system used under Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova and man-to-man marking. So far, though, the results have yet to convince. The squad, however, is well aware of its own share of the responsibility. However much Tata Martino explains the theory and runs drills, it is the players who talk the talk in the dressing room and walk the walk out on the pitch. They know that it's up to them to work out the right way to deal with aerial threats, to fight their own corner, if you will. Tata is keen to avoid any risks at ...

Tata Martino after the game against Valladolid about the team : “In general, we lacked intensity in the first phase of the first half, they got behind us and we didn’t pressure enough.” Martino also added: “What happened needs to be corrected because we won’t always be able to fight back ... conceding goals from set pieces is one of our current worries.” Despite the analysis, Martino declared: “I really liked the second half the team put in.”
