The last time I got that many texts in a row from my dad was when President Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
One of the best things President Obama has done in office is to appoint Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court:

I'm excited to announce our next book club pick for this spring: My Beloved World by Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Sonia's story is so inspiring, not only as one of only four women to serve on the Supreme Court in history, but also as the first Latina ever to serve on the court. And as a native New Yorker, Sonia holds a special place in my heart. This is an incredible, inspiring story you won’t want to miss. I hope you’ll take a moment now to RSVP for our live online discussion of My Beloved World on April 9th. While Justice Sotomayor will not be able to join the conversation herself, we'll have some very special guests joining. It's going to be a great conversation. So please sign up for our live online book club discussion of Sonia Sotomayor's moving memoir My Beloved World and get reading today! And please feel free to submit your questions about My Beloved World at the link above, and if you've read the book already, let us know what you thought. Speak with you in a few weeks! Feeling very privileged to provide flowers for tonight's Literary Arts event with Supreme Court Associate Justice, Sonia Sotomayor!
People, like this man, discussed in an article which appears on Yahoo, today, still sit on the Supreme Court bench. Is there any wonder that there is a form of anarchy in Washington? Fortunately, John Paul Stevens no longer is on the Supreme Court bench, but others, equally disdainful of the Constitution, if not even more so, which is clearly the case with Supreme Court Justices, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Stephen Breyer, who are now joined by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, are sitting as stalkers of he Constitution. This unmasking by Stevens is instructive, and prompts the question, "Who is on the Court, right now, who thinks along the same lines as this hypocrite?" I have a list of a few present Justices, for starters. "Former Supreme Court Justice: Second Amendment Must Be Changed" FEBRUARY 23, 2014 Guns, Regulation Some of the issues that most divided the nation during the first five years of President Barack Obama’s presidency — the reform of the American healt ...
Quote of the Month (so far): "Why do we have a Supreme Court Justice whose allegiance obviously goes to her immigrant family background and not to the U.S. Constitution?" -- Fox News dunderhead Laura Ingraham referring to Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. The truth is that Sotomayor and her family are from Puerto Rico and are therefore U.S. citizens.
If Men Got Pregnant, Would Abortion Be Legal? In Peggy Drexler’s new Huffington Post column "The Supreme Court: Why Women Matter" (6/8/09), she defends maligned Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor and calls for more women on the Court. Drexler explains: "[Abortion is] gender’s judicial flashpoint. If men got pregnant, reproductive choice would be in the Bill of Rights—if not a sacrament. Yet, we were are a vote or two shy of limiting or denying that choice. Women will see that threat as no man possibly can." Drexler may be correct that Sotomayor will help broaden the Court’s perspective and make it more solicitous of women’s concerns. Her view that society would be more solicitous of men’s reproductive rights than women’s is common in the pro-choice movement. However, if men could get pregnant, would abortion really be legal? Based on the relevant family law rulings and related legislation, the answer is probably "no." Though abortion is controversial, few believe that women should be comp ...
Justice Sonia Sotomayor has offered pro-lifers a glimmer of hope as the Obama Administration urges the Supreme Court not to exempt Roman Catholic nuns from the Obamacare mandate to provide birth-control and abortion-related coverage.
As expected, the Obama Administration today asked the Supreme Court not to exempt Catholic groups from an ObamaCare requirement to offer contraceptive coverage, after Justice Sonia Sotomayor gave them a temporary reprieve earlier this week.
George Washington University community members will have the opportunity to hear Sonia Sotomayor discuss her journey to the Supreme Court next month.
In a narrow New Year's Eve ruling, Justice Sonia Sotomayor blocked the contraception mandate from applying to a group of Catholic employers, while the Supreme Court considers taking up whether the accommodation for religiously affiliated employers goes far enough.
The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily exempted two Catholic Church-affiliated nonprofits from requirements to provide contraceptive coverage to its employees under the Affordable Care Act. Justice Sonia Sotomayor issued a brief order late Tuesday. Find out what this could mean for other religious groups that have filed separate appeals around the country:
Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor issued an injunction late last night that would "halt the part of "Obamacare" that requires churches and church related organizations to provide contraception and abortion services as part of a Health Care package for their employees.
Sonia Sotomayor, a Supreme Court Justice appointed by Barack Obama, has called a halt to a key birth control provision of the “Obamacare” Health Insurance law
Actually, Sonia Sotomayor is just following the trend of Supreme Court Justices becoming celebrities. But the chance to share air time with Miley Cyrus on New Year's Eve is a first.
THE UTAH *** RIGHTS EMERGENCY IN THE 10TH CIRCUIT. THAT IS THE CIRCUIT THAT I JUST OPTED OUT AND QUIT THE PRACTICE OF LAW. THIS IS THE SAME CIRCUIT THAT HELD THAT CORPORATIONS HAVE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT. THIS CIRCUIT SHOULD BE DISSOLVED FOR STUPIDITY. It’s now been eleven days since the district-court judge Robert J. Shelby ruled that Utah’s Amendment 3, which prohibited same-sex marriage, was unconstitutional. Since then, about a thousand same-sex couples have been married in the deeply red state, setting a record for the number of marriage licenses issued in Salt Lake County on a single day. The governor and Attorney General have made several unsuccessful attempts to halt the marriage ceremonies by asking a panel of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and Judge Shelby himself to stay or delay the ruling; both denied the request. Then, on Christmas Eve, state officials indicated that they would seek an emergency stay from the Supreme Court. Such a request is highly unusual. It wo ...
Mike Huckabee is dead to me. I used to support him. I supported him against Romney and thought he got shafted by the establishment Republicans who wanted Romney and instead we ended up with McCan’t. That’s what playing games will get you. Huckabee’s time is over, done-with, gone. And now he has aligned himself with the establishment by endorsing Lindsey Graham. (if Rand Paul does not watch himself he will be on that list as well. He was extremely slow in supporting Ted Cruz and endorsed Mitch Mcconnell. REALLY Rand?) Why does Lindsey have to go? He wanted into a war with and supported arming Al-Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood revolutionaries in Syria. He is a part of the ‘Gang of 8’ who is pushing for amnesty for illegals. He undercut the strategy to fund all of government except Obamacare. He supported confirmation of Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. These are just a few reasons. Here is a list of Republican Candidates running against him: Senator Lee Bright ~ State Senator Rich ...
It seems Sonia Sotomayor of the Supreme court has been chosen to "drop the ball" in Times Square on New Years Eve. She was chosen due to her experience "dropping the ball" when it comes to protecting Americans in court.
Historic for Latinos: the Supreme Court Judge and the first Hispanic to be appointed to the highest court in the United States; Honorable Justice Sonia Sotomayor will help lower the Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball at 11:59pm on December 31st. A native of the Bronx, Justice Sotomayor was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2009. She is an inspiration for Latinos all over the country and the world. Most important, this humble extraordinary professional never forgets her family and community roots she has mentor hundreds young Latino lawyers.
As someone who grew up without seeing myself in the written word, I've devoured books by, and about Latinos, since my college years when I was introduced to Latino literature. Having said that, I also admit to a weakness for romance and murder mysteries. So here are ten books that changed me, in no particular order: 1. Angels and Demons - Dan Brown (my first Dan Brown) 2. Hearts Aflame - Johanna Lindsey (my first romance novel ever) 3. Down These Mean Streets - Piri Thomas (knocked me for a loop) 4. Drown - Junot Diaz (Latinos in Jersey) 5. The Shadows of the Wind - Carlos Ruiz Zafon (movie in my head) 6. Death With Interruptions - Jose Saramago (fascinating) 7. The Namesake - Jhumpa Lahiri (just loved this) 8. My Beloved World - Sonia Sotomayor (I saw myself, minus Supreme Court) 9. Syke O'Malley - Bertrice Small (sent me on a saga) 10. Conquistadora - Esmeralda Santiago (and everything else she's written) Bonus book: Sins of the Flesh - Caridad Piñeiro (combines romance, paranormal, and Latino characte ...
Had a funny happening at an art world dinner a few weeks back. I sat and talked all night with classic abstract painter Freddy Rodriguez, then he reminded me that back in the day I wrote a press release for his show at the Queens Museum. Get the f-- out of here!, I knocked his elbow, that's why I became a writer, I can't remember anything, I have to write it all down! Anyways, Rodriguez is a key part of the Our America survey of Latino art that opened last month at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. A friend send me photos of the opening, first, Curator Carmen Ramos, Bric director Elizabeth Ferrer, Freddy and artist Dudley Charles; then, in a classy spirit-uplifting move, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor stopped by to honor the participants, here with Freddy (and scarf); and, finally, the Rodiguez work in the show, classic 70s vibe in Danza Africana, Africano Amor etc. looks like fun.

Let's review Lindsey Graham's hard right turn to get re-elected. In the past three weeks, Graham has vowed to block Obama's nominees until the Obama Administration produces the Benghazi witnesses. Too bad he didn't block Sonia Sotomayor or Elena Kagan; he actually voted to confirm both of ultra-liberal Supreme Court Justices. Graham has also pledged to lead the charge on an abortion ban after 20 weeks. Apparently, Graham thinks the abortion ban has a better chance of success than the defunding of Obamacare, even with Harry Reid still in charge. We now know that had Graham and the Senate Republican leadership gotten behind Ted Cruz, at least half a dozen Democrats who later switched their position in favor of delay might have sided with Senate Republicans on Obamacare. Finally, Lindsey Graham is now blocking the Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund, a fund set up to provide private enterprises in Egypt the start-up capital necessary to open their businesses and employ Egyptians desperate for stability after t ...

Did you know? In 2009, Judge Sonia Sotomayor was the 1st Latina judge & 3rd woman named to the US Supreme Court
The individual Health Insurance mandate is constitutional, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday, upholding the central provision of President Barack Obama's signature Affordable Care Act. The 5-4 majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, upheld the mandate as a tax, although concluded it was not valid as an exercise of Congress' commerce clause power. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joined in the majority.
6 August 2009: Sonia Sotomayor is confirmed as an Associate Justice of the US Supreme Court, replacing David Souter.
I will be embarking on an extended trip in a few days to Kentucky and hopefully Indiana. I will spend a week in Frankfort, KY attending a conference called, "Torn Within, Threatened Without: Kentucky and the Border States in the Civil War". Kentucky, although a slave state remained in the Union and is the birthplace of both Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. Among other things I will visit the home of Henry Clay ("Mr. Compromise", right students?). I'm hoping to see lots of family and friends while I am in the area. I was raised in Austin, Indiana and went to school and first taught in Kentucky, so it is a homecoming of sorts. Hope to see everyone. Pictures and reflections of my recent trip to Washington, the Supreme Court and my meeting with Sonia Sotomayor is forthcoming, sorry.
"Expanding Gun Rights"-by Excising the Second Amendment? ' On March 13, 2011, the Arizona StCif' published an opinion piece in which Obama proclaimed, "My administration has not curtailed the rights of gun owners, it has expanded them .. ." "Expanded gun rights"? How? By appointing two anti-gun justices to the US. Supreme Court, one of them, Sonia Sotomayor, who claimed she considered it "settled law" that the Second Amendment guaranteed an individual right-but then turned around and voted to deny that right? By sidestepping Congress to impose an illegal order requiring registration of semi-automatic rifle sales in four Southwestern states? By trying to gut the armed pilots program that protects airline travelers from terrorist hijackers? By allowing his Department of Justice to smuggle guns from the US. to Mexican drug cartels who used them to murder a US. Border Patrol officer-and then using his "executive privilege" to stonewall investigators? How, exactly, do any of these actions by Obama expand the r ...
"My husband’s two Supreme Court appointees, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor will protect the right to love whomever we choose. ~ Ms. Obama
Sonia Sotomayor's ascent to the Supreme Court was the result of her personal drive as she harnessed her intellectual powers from a Bronx housing project through Princeton and Yale Law School \u2013 and the highest law court in the United States.
WM As has become glaringly obvious, the America-Destroyer-in-Chief has ramped up his attacks exponentially since he got away with the massive voter fraud that gave him the election. He's continued his policy of nominating far-left, incompetent crooks and extremists to important positions of power, a policy that couldn't work without the complicity and connivance of the Republican Establishment. And that is just for starters. The tactic of nominating America-hating radicals has resulted in Sonia Sotomayor, a racist, radical feminist and Elena Kagan, a probable *** radical feminist and political hack as justices of the Supreme Court, avowed communist Van Jones as "Green Jobs Czar," radical wackos Cass Sunstein and John Holdren and dozens of other "Czars" – a total of 45 of 'em – sticking their noses and greedy leftist fingers into the people's business, and getting paid $158,000 per year and up of the taxpayers money to do it. The Republican Establishment has done nothing to rid us of these unconst ...
DANA MILBANK, writing in The Washington Post, “Sotomayor, Kagan Ready for Battles.” “For a quarter-century, Antonin Scalia has been the reigning bully of the Supreme Court, but finally a couple of justices are willing to face him down. As it happens, the two manning up to take on Nino the Terrible are women: the court’s newest members, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. The acerbic Scalia, the court’s longest-serving justice, got his latest comeuppance Wednesday morning, as he tried to make the absurd argument that Congress’s renewal of the Voting Rights Act in 2006 by votes of 98 to 0 in the Senate and 390 to 33 in the House did not mean that Congress actually supported the act. Scalia, assuming powers of clairvoyance, argued that the lawmakers were secretly afraid to vote against this “perpetuation of racial entitlement.” Kagan wasn’t about to let him get away with that. In a breach of decorum, she interrupted his questioning of counsel to argue with him directly. “Well, that sounds li ...
I was delighted to watch President Obama's State of the Union speech last night. I hope that the Congress will respond by adopting the programs that he laid out before them. I loved seeing Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan attending the speech. His appointment of those two women was magnificent. I hope that the Supreme Court appointments that he gets to make during the remainder of his term will include replacements for Justices Scalia and Thomas. (I'd include Justice Alito in my list of replaceables but he is comparatively young and will probably be on the court for a long time to come.)
To set the record straight everyone. You weren't there at the inauguration to see thousands stand by the National Mall, with flags in hand, watching the huge televisions that were set up showing the congress, senate and Supreme Court Justices walking out in support of our president and Vice President. We all went crazy when we saw Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Joe Biden, Dr. Jill Biden,

doesn't understand the notion that President Obama doesn't work for women. The first bill he signed into law was the Lilly Ledbetter Act. He went to the mattresses to guarantee women access to birth control. He appointed Hillary Clinton, Kathleen Sebelius, Hilda Solis and Janet Napolitano to cabinet positions. He wanted to nominate Susan Rice, but she was destroyed by the elephants. His two Supreme Court nominees? Despite not having peeked under the robes of Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor, one is inclined to believe they're both ladies. What sort of disconnection with reality does one need to make to assert President Obama doesn't care about women and doesn't want women to advance in government?
Yet to really understand how significant Sotomayor's role on the Supreme Court is, and just what her story means, consider this brief, and heartwarming, appearance on Sesame Street. INTERESTING FACTS !!! Within a year after most all guns owned by private citizens were banned in UK, Home Secretary David Davis made it clear that the UK gun policy had FAILED, citing the government's own figures showing that gun-related killings and injuries had risen more than (400%) FOUR HUNDRED PERCENT since the handgun ban. RIGHT "NOW", the Obama White House is pushing Gun Control "under the radar", Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has reversed U.S. policy, supporting a U.N. gun-ban treaty before a final draft has even been written. Obama's appointment of Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court proves his contempt for the Second Amendment. Who needs more proof of Obama's intentions than Attorney General (and "Fast and Furious" denier) Eric Holder ? If you value your right to bear arms, you need to join and support the NRA NOW before it is too late.
A Return to Judicial Activism What Obama’s second term means for the courts 8 November 2012 Tuesday’s election victory means that President Obama will have four more years to reshape the federal judiciary. While it remains to be seen whether he can achieve any legislative victories in the face of Republican opposition, there is little doubt that he will, for the most part, get to appoint the judges of his choice. Four justices on the Supreme Court are in their mid- to late seventies now: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, and Stephen Breyer. With past as prelude, we can expect any Obama nominees to be reliably liberal in the mold of his two appointments from the first term, Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. At a minimum, the president will likely replace the aging liberals Ginsburg and Breyer with younger models. But it’s also possible that Kennedy or Scalia, or both, could leave the bench during the next four years, presenting Obama with an opportunity to forge a liberal ...
To say that Rush Limbaugh has been among the most prolific critics of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor would be something of an understatement. In the last few days, he has blasted her
ROMNEY RYAN 2012. This will be my final pre-election post. I am supporting Mitt Romney. Prominent Christians including Joel Beeke and Wayne Grudem are too. In 2008, Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano vetoed a bill to ban partial-birth abortion - the seventh piece of pro-life legislation she vetoed. She vetoed every single pro-life bill she met. Who did Napolitano defeat to succeed as governor? Matt Salmon - a Mormon. "I believe marriage should be preserved as an institution for one man and one woman." - Mitt Romney "I think same-sex couples should be able to get married” - Barack Obama "I support the reversal of Roe v. Wade" - Mitt Romney "Roe vs. Wade protects a woman’s health and reproductive freedom" - Barack Obama "I will appoint conservative, strict constructionists to the judiciary." - Mitt Romeny. Obama appointed the pro-infanticide Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. Five out of the nine current Supreme Court Justices have been serving for 18-26 years, and there is expected to be 2-3 appointments ...
I just got home from a football game so my diabetes fact of the day is that Jay Cutler, quarterback for the Chicago Bears, has Type 1 diabetes. So does Gary Hall Jr. (Olympic swimmer with 10 gold medals), Bret Michaels(Poison), Nick Jonas (Jonas Brothers), Anne Rice (author), Sonia Sotomayor (Justice on the Supreme Court) and Mary Tyler Moore (tv star).
Of the nine currently-serving Justices on the Supreme Court, Ronald Reagan appointed 2, George H W Bush appointed 1, Bill Clinton appointed 2, George W Bush appointed 2, and Barack Obama appointed 2. Only two current Justices were affirmed without dissenting votes in the Senate--they were appointed by Reagan. Our Justice selection process has gotten so politicized that we may NEVER have uncontested Justices again. Ruth Bader Ginsberg is 79 (and in poor health). Antonin Scalia is 76. Anthony Kennedy is 76. Stephen Breyer is 74. Clarence Thomas is 64. Samuel Alito is 61. Sonia Sotomayor is 58. John Roberts is 57. Elena Kagan is 52. Yesterday, I mentioned that the President will appoint 2 Justices in the next four years...It will probably be 4! VOTE Wisely! We need adults in these positions, not legislators.
The Biggest Threat in an Obama Second Term There are many ways a second term for President Barack Obama threatens the rights of gun owners. He wants to bring back the 1994 semi-auto ban; his administration has already imposed an illegal registration scheme on certain rifle sales; and there is no way to know how far he would go to use his executive powers to curb our rights if he didn't have to face reelection. But without a doubt, the biggest threat would be his potential appointments to the Supreme Court, as highlighted in a new advertisement unveiled this week by the NRA Political Victory Fund. We already know the kind of jurists Obama will appoint. Even before joining the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor proved their opposition to the most basic rights protected by the Second Amendment. But this past week, we had the opportunity to get a peek into the legal mind of another Supreme Court Justice who recently opposed our rights, and his comments tell us a great deal about what would happen ...
1. Increased Taxpayer Funding for Planned Parenthood. On President Obama's watch, the nation's abortion mega-provider received more than $1.34 million of your tax dollars every single day. Get ready to open your wallet to Planned Parenthood to pay an even greater abortion tax if they are re-elected. 2. Appoint 3 New Pro-Abortion Judges to the Supreme Court. This one speaks for itself. President Obama has already handed out lifetime tenure to the two most virulent, pro-abortion activist judges ever: Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. Get ready for three more abortion advocates imposing anti-life laws from the highest Court in the land. 3. Even More Abortion Access. Thanks to the Obama-Planned Parenthood Administration and their signature achievement - Obamacare - they have created the greatest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. Planned Parenthood's abortion clinic waiting rooms could now overflow in the wake of this life-ending law, while taxpayer dollars will fund an ever-increasing share of Planned P ...

My fellow Floridians and gun owners. please vote for Connie Mack and dump Bill Nelson. Here's an NRA ad that reminds us that Nelson voted to put anti-gun advocate Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court.
Washington politicians will say anything to get elected. And that includes Bill Nelson. Bill Nelson may say he supports our Second Amendment rights on the campaign trail. But don't be fooled. Bill Nelson can't hide from his record, and his record on our Second Amendment freedoms is clear: Bill Nelson voted to confirm Barack Obama’s anti-gun nominees to the Supreme Court – including Sonia Sotomayor, who signed a Supreme Court opinion saying that Americans do not have an individual right to own firearms. (1) Bill Nelson voted to allow America’s firearms manufacturers to be sued into bankruptcy – which would have eliminated tens of thousands of American jobs. (2) Bill Nelson voted to spend $15 million of taxpayer dollars on a federal Gun Control program. (3) Bill Nelson voted for a ban on millions of commonly owned firearms, which included many popular hunting and target rifles. (4) * Yes, I will fight Obama and his ilk with my last breath.
You and I can't let Senator Bill Nelson play Florida gun owners for fools. Nelson wants us to forget that he helped put anti-Second Amendment Judge Sonia Sotomayor on the U.S. Supreme Court. And Sotomayor ruled that you and I have no individual right to own a firearm! Bill Nelson knows he can't win re-election in Florida without fooling gun owners into voting for him.
Well, while I can't say I was overwhelmed by President Obama's speech last night, he didn't blow me away the way Clinton did, he did clearly articulate his positions and remind us of the good he's done in the last four years...heck I'd vote for him again if only to get more great Supreme Court Judges like Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan! We needed some liberal women on the court!
Three years ago today, Sonia Sotomayor joined the Supreme Court. Here’s to breaking barriers. Three years ago, thanks to Barack Obama, the first Latina was sworn into the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court Justices, and the president who nominates them, shape our country's future—share this so your friends know what’s at stake.
Three Reasons For Voting Against Obama Posted by Blaine A Dunning on August 21, 2012 at 10:58am They do have differences between them I would agree with many about Romney being Obama lite when it comes to big government and the role of government. Clearly there is some differences between the two that have big impacts on what happens to the country moving forward. There certainly are more reasons but here are three reasons you could choose not to vote for Obama. I will start with the Supreme Court, When you consider the two justices that Obama appointed in the first term that more bad choices will follow. Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan are clear liberals whose view of the Constitution, it's meaning and it's interpretation. You have four justices in their 70's and Obama could be appointing one or two in another term. We could be stuck with a liberal/progressive leaning court for a very long time if Obama could get one or more passed the Senate. The difference between who Romney would select and Obama woul ...
Sonia Sotomayor joined the Supreme Court three years ago. Thanks to President Obama for showing clarity and courage in nominating the first Latina to the High Court.
Speaking at a campaign event in Colorado today, President Obama laid out the crucial importance of the Supreme Court in November’s election: Today is the three-year anniversary of Sonia Sotomayor taking her seat on the Supreme Court. Yesterday was the two-year anniversary of Elena Kagan taking her...
I would also accept the numbers of Elena Kagan or Sonia Sotomayor. Basically any sufficiently sassy Supreme Court Justice will do.
Order in the bleachers! Proving that no one is immune from the siren call of a summer afternoon at the ballpark, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor hit Yankee Stadium for the Yankees' 12-3 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. … Continue reading →

Jowan Boothead Miller: Whats up Truth Fighters And Others ! I got a question. I’m hearing these comments being made a lot lately about President Obama and how he has (for a lack of better words) thrown a bone to many other groups, but African American issues haven’t been addressed. *** have gotten the repeal of DADT, and his endorsement of *** marriage. Hispanics got Sonia Sotomayor appointed to the Supreme Court and the new policy on immigration. The rich got their Bush era tax cut extended, Corporate America (General Motors) got a bailout. Big oil has been permitted to drill more than ever. War profiteers are still making big money, so on and so forth. Now the question that I have is, what is it that African Americans want exactly? Your thoughts?
Trivia Question: Who was the first woman to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court? o Susan B. Anthony o Sandra Day O'Connor o Ruth Bader Ginsburg o Sonia Sotomayor o Judge Judy
So far, President Obama's picks for the Supreme Court has been good. I give Sonia Sotomayor an "A" while I give Elena Kagan a "B-".
Vaccine Epidemic Authors Condemn Supreme Court Ruling in Bruesewitz v. Wyeth Coming on the heels of a successful book launch event in New York City on Feb 18, which gathered over 300 people at the NYU School of Law, we were deeply disappointed yesterday morning to learn of the Supreme Court's ruling in Bruesewitz v Wyeth. The 6-2 decision forecloses civil lawsuits for vaccine design defects and further tilts the already unfair playing field of the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, which consistently decides against vaccine-injured famlies after years of venomous litigation. Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote a blistering dissent, in which Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg joined, arguing that the majority appears more concerned about shielding industry than about the welfare of our children, and more concerned with a policy to prevent tort cases alleging vaccine-induced autism from reaching civil court than with the statute's plain language. Many safety and autism advocacy organizations have joined to express the ...
Socialized medicine, once clearly unconstitutional, is now the "Law of the Land". You now have no choice -- all doctors, nurses, dentists, clinic & hospital workers are now government employees. Now bureaucrats will decide what care you get, if any, not your doctor and yourself. Now bureaucrats will determine if abortion is right for you, if death is right for you. And if you resist in partaking or contributing to this, you will be fined or imprisoned. But are you STILL blaming the one man of which this program is commonly named after? Did you ever support or praise Chief Justice John Roberts or the president who nominated him, George W. Bush? Those on the Supreme Court who upheld this socialized medicine program follow below. If you don't contact your House Representative to seek impeach...ment of these justices, and actively work against your Rep if he/she fails to carry out their oath to protect and defend the Constitution, then YOU are part of the problem... - Chief Justice John Roberts, nominated by ...
"A Huge disappointment, but not a surprise. The war is on! Become a prayer warrior, and Engage in the Battle"; Today's Supreme Court decision is a massive disappointment for pro-life America and a huge political victory for the Obama Administration and Planned Parenthood. The decision to uphold ObamaCare was not a surprise after Barack Obama hand-picked two new pro-abortion Supreme Court Justices during his first term in office -- Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor. By confirming ObamaCare, they handed Obama a key win while ensuring that Planned Parenthood and their abortion allies will receive billions more in taxpayer funding to expand their abortion empire.
John Roberts appointed by George W. Bush Stephen Breyer appointed by Clinton Ruth Bader Ginsberg appointed by Clinton Elena Kagan appointed by Obama Sonia Sotomayor appointed by Clinton These are the judges that just put the stamp of approval on Obamacare. If the Supreme Court is shredding the Constitution, what's left??
Feliz Cumpleanos to Sonia Sotomayor! The first latina on the U.S. Supreme Court who is of Puerto Rican descent!

Barboza 3 years after President Barack Obama selected Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court, her tale still inspires:
Sonia Sotomayor was born June 25, 1954, in the Bronx, New York. Her desire to be a judge was first inspired by the TV showPerry Mason. She graduated from Yale Law School and passed the bar in 1980. She became a U.S. District Court Judge in 1992 and was elevated to the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals in 1998. In 2009, she became the first Latina Supreme Court Justice in U.S. history. NOW THAT'S AN INSPIRATION!!!
"The most important and alarming facet of Lugar's defeat, and a factor whose importance is being overlooked at the moment, is one of the things Mourdock cited against him: Lugar voted to confirm two of Obama's Supreme Court nominees. Obviously, Lugar would not have chosen to nominate an Elena Kagan or a Sonia Sotomayor. But he was following a longstanding practice of extending presidents wide ideological latitude on their Supreme Court picks. In the absence of corruption, lack of qualifications, or unusual ideological extremism, Democratic presidents have always been allowed to pick liberal justices, and Republican presidents conservative ones. That's not a law. It's just a social norm." "But the social norms that previously kept the parties from exercising power have fallen one by one. Under Obama's presidency, Republicans have gone to unprecedented lengths to block completely uncontroversial appointments, paralyzing the government and using the power to paralyze government to nullify duly passed laws. I ...

I can predict the future. This next election there will be a large scale action to prevent minorities from voting. In 1986, Alabama prosecutor Jeff Sessions tried three Marion, AL civil rights workers for voter fraud. The jury quickly aquited them. Sessions went on to become senator from ALAbama who then voted against Sonia Sotomayor's Supreme Court nomination because of her racism. Did I mention Sessions refused to prosecute civil rights violations and praised the Al KKK?
Sunday marked Elena Kagan's first anniversary as a justice on the Supreme Court, and yesterday was Sonia Sotomayor's two-year anniversary.
Colin Powell, who hails from the same Bronx neighborhood as Sonia Sotomayor, said on Sunday that the Supreme Court nominee was of a "liberal bent of mind," but not so much that it would be "disqualifying" to her confirmation prospects. In his appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," the former Secretary of State saved his sharpest jabs for the Republicans who have painted Sotomayor as a racist.
