'In March of 2013, following 32 years of lengthy court deliberations, the Supreme Court found that Section 31 of the Manitoba Act was never properly implemented. The provision of a land grant of 1.4 million acres, inside of which the entire city of Winnipeg sits, was to be set aside for the children of the Metis (in other words, for Metis families). It has now been almost a year since the Supreme Court of Canada ruled in their favour, yet no government action has taken place with respect to the court decision. “It was the Conservative government that negotiated this and didn’t fulfill it,” Chartrand says of the contract between Canada’s first Prime Minister, John A. Macdonald, and Riel’s provisional government that brought Manitoba into confederation.'~ (WWW.UNITER.CA) Brian Lorraine City Editor.

Oldest litigant of Babri Masjid case Hashim Ansari decided to withdraw his plea The main and oldest litigant in the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute, Mohammad Hashim Ansari (94) was in news recently as he decided to withdraw his plea on the case on 3 December 2014. He has been fighting the case since 1959.His decision came three days before the 6 December, the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition. Exasperated over the politicization of the issue, Ansari said that he was ready for talks with the Prime Minister for peaceful negotiations in the matter if he promises to ensure punishment to the demolition accused. About Ram bhoomi Babri Masjid dispute The original title suit was filed in the Faizabad court in 1959 and the petition contested the placement of Hindu idols inside the Masjid complex. But the dispute took an ugly turn on 6 December 1992, when the mosque was demolished-leading to large-scale rioting across the country. Indira Gandhi – a great leader -by Sardar Harcharan Singh, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court • He speaks that in the scenario of Indian Politics there has never been a Prime Minister as efficient and hard working as Indira Gandhi. Indira Gandhi was the third Prime Minister of India and a central figure of the Indian National Congress party. Gandhi, who served from 1966 to 1977 and then again from 1980 until her assassination in 1984, is the second-longest-serving Prime Minister of India and the only woman to hold the office. As Prime Minister, Gandhi was known for her political ruthlessness and unprecedented centralisation of power.

"My open letter to Modi ji. Do read and RT. English- Prime Minister,Your government has completed nearly four months in office now and its performance is being widely discussed. People have mixed feelings. They believe that you are an excellent orator. But your own partymen and ministers are doing exactly the opposite of what you speak, and when they do that, you remain silent. This has perplexed many people. For instance, your speech on Independence Day impressed many. You said that we should shun communalism for the next decade, since communalism does not help anyone. People were happy to hear these words. But just a few days later an MP of your own party, Yogi Adityanath, delivered hate speeches.Your partymen tried to spread hatred in the name of ‘love jihad’. People were surprised. How was it that your own partymen were not listening to you? People expected that you would admonish Yogi Adityanath and others in your party who indulged in spreading communal hatred. But you chose to remain silent, whic ...

My letter to Imran Khan : Dear Khan Sahb, I am a practicing lawyer and have been a supporter of PTI before, during and after the elections of 2013. I was happy that PTI managed to get a few seats in the National Assembly but also upset that PTI missed out on some seats due to rigging at some polling stations, which if reversed would still not change the fate of having Nawaz Shareef as the elected Prime Minister. I was happy that PTI had made progress and now had a say in the Parliament and also formed the KPK government because now my political party had a chance to show to the people what they are capable of doing with honesty and integrity and also would be continuously highlighting the wrongdoings of the ruling party. I then thought that the fact that my party had lost on some seats on account of rigging may actually be a blessing in disguise as this would be helpful in the next elections in which my party could get majority seats and form the government, as PTI would be working in KPK and showing res ...
Ruling party people say that they had to fire and kill people because they were going to the Prime Minister’s House. These brainless people forget that the PM’s House belongs to the people, as does every other building of the State. It does not belong to Nawaz Sharif or anyone else. People were going there peacefully to sit in protest peacefully outside the gate. They were not going to occupy it. The truth is that the illegal occupier-squatter of the Prime Minister’s House is Nawaz Sharif because a rigged election put him in it. So too the members of the National Assembly who got in through the massive rigging of the ballot — squatter-occupiers. So too those judges of the Supreme Court who are occupying it because of an illegal Executive Order of an earlier Prime Minister — all squatter-occupiers. As to moving to the ugly PM’s House, where pray were people moving to in Model Town Lahore when 14 of them were murdered and 85 injured by the Punjab police in the middle of the night on June 14. Map LNIB Lower Nicola Indian Band Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline The chief of the Lower Nicola Indian Band south of Kamloops, B.C., whose territory is crucial to the $5.4-billion Kinder Morgan expansion project, wrote a strongly worded letter to the Prime Minister today about his "serious reservations" about the project. Kinder Morgan's pipeline recently spilled 12 barrels of oil in June 2013 on the Aboriginal territory, in the province's interior. Chief Aaron Sam gives a sharp critique of Prime Minister Harper's lack of policies to address climate change, and said First Nations near Alberta's oil sands need more meaningful consultation in light of the environmental destruction on their territory. Kinder Morgan owns a pipeline that has transported oil from Alberta to Burnaby for 60 years. It is now is applying to the Federal Government to twin the pipeline, to increase the oil flow from 300,000 to 890,000 barrels per day. The project would increase the number of oil tankers in the Vancouver area f ...
DIG moves SC against AIG promotions Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yadav Adhikari of Nepal Police moved the Supreme Court to stop Thursday night's promotion of nine DIGs to Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Police. Registering his case on Friday, Adhikari says the government's decision is against police acts and regulations. Adhikari said he filed the case at the SC as the government's decision was unfair to him. A Cabinet meeting late on Thursday decided to promote nine DIGs to AIGs. "The government should have made the decision on the recommendation of the promotion-committee. I moved the case to court at my well-wishers' suggestions," Adhikari said. Adhikari has named Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Nepal Police Headquarters as defendants. The police regulation has provision for seven posts for AIG -- in the Metropolitan Police Commissioner's Office, Nepal Police Training Academy and five departments at the Nepal Police Headquarters. However, the cabinet promoted nine DIGs ...
By Sunder Rajan: This is an article as to how feverishly Bhardwaj worked to help Qutorouchi go free in Bofors case -Photos - Ottavio Quattrocchi & Indian soldiers using Bofors guns. The CBI's u-turn is visible although the hand behind it is not. Nonetheless, it is an open secret that he was a friend of Sonia Gandhi's family in India and Italy. The Prime Minister's defence that they acted on legal advice from the Attorney General, Solicitor General and the Law Minister does not hold water when all three are the government appointees. Concluding his two-day visit to the Himalayan Kingdom, Mr. Modi gave an assurance that a change of government in Delhi will not affect their ties and past commitments will be fulfilled. Thimphu, on its part, promised not to allow its territory to be used against India, an assurance that comes against the backdrop of militants from northeast taking shelter there. "As an American, I am entirely flummoxed by the willy-nilly process by which the Brits acquire a new prime minister. It seems like one afternoon after tea they decide to get rid of the old one, then the majority party in the House of Commons picks the person they most want to to yell at on C-SPAN's Prime Minister's Questions, then the new prime minister goes to Buckingham Palace and for two minutes the whole country politely pretends he was the queen's idea. U.S. citizens can thank the Massachusetts Bay colonists for breaking with that tradition. While Americans choose a new president in a process that is as insane as the way the United Kingdom ends up with a new prime minister--given the fact that the Electoral College makes sure our president is chosen by three counties in Florida and Ohio (or nine Supreme Court justices)--at least we can print 'Election Day' in our calendars ahead of time. And looking forward to that date circled in November can get a citizen through a lot of cold nights." --Sarah Vowe ...

HERE IS SO CALLED GRAND MUFTI FOR U!!!"" In the Indian-controlled Jammu and Kashmir, despite the fact there is no legal basis and neither the public or religious scholars have elected him, “Grand Mufti” Bashir-ud-Din has been running a self- styled parallel judicial system, calling it the “Supreme Court of Islamic Shariet (Central Dar ul Futwa).” In mid 70s, Bashir-ud-din, with a post graduate degree in Arabic from the Aligarh Muslim University, was appointed “Grand Mufti” by late Bakshi Ghulam Mohammed, the state’s last Prime Minister in 1960 but recently the government mildly denied Bashir-ud-Din having any alliance with the government. For decades he has been giving diktats from his court and has used it for his personal interests to raise huge funds, solve land disputes, demand money for fatwas, and also to threaten people or force them to do his work. In an exclusive exposé, the official letters and the documents obtained by THE KASHMIR WALLA prove that the Bashir-ud-Din has been misus ...

Prime Minister Stephen Harper says the Senate will remain status quo in the face of today's Supreme Court of Canada ruling that the Federal Government cannot unilaterally change the upper house by imposing term limits or electing Senators. Abolishing the thing entirely would require the approval of ALL provinces. So, is Harper right to walk away from Senate reform? Are there other potential reforms that could be done--or maybe PM's should just stop filling vacancies and let it wither on the vine?
Andy Yong Kim Seng: PM should be firm in rejecting Hudud Press statement by Gerakan Deputy Youth Chief Andy Yong Kim Seng 25 April 2014 In recent reports Prime Minister Dato' Sri Najib Tun Razak on the one hand commented that the country is not ready for hudud whereas on the other hand he said the government has never rejected the implementation of the same. Deputy National Youth Chief of Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia, Andy Yong Kim Seng avers that such remarks by the PM shows he is holding back by not wanting to offend both Muslims and non-Muslims in the country. “PM should not be taking the middle ground this time because by doing so he is putting on the reverse gear instead of nation-building. More importantly is unless PM is saying Malaysia is an Islamic state, Hudud should has no place in a multi-religious society. JUSTICE FOR ALL AND IMPUNITY FOR NONE: ITS PORTRAIL BY THE MEDIA By: JUSTICE (R) SYED SHABBAR RAZA RIZVI Justice for allmer Judge Lahore High Court Lahore It has been sincerely and bona fidely felt that some recent judgments of the Supreme Court of Pakistan caused injustice to the Justices, who took oath under P.C.O. and impunity to all military and civil authorities who actually imposed or acted on the Proclamation of emergency, P.C.O. Order No. l of 2007 in the country on 3rd November, 2007. This fact has also not been portrayed truly by the media, unfortunately. According to the Supreme Court it passed a restraining order on 3rd November 2007, after the issuance of Proclamation of emergency which directed to:-- (i) Government of Pakistan i.e. the President and Prime Minister to restrain from undertaking any such action, which was contrary to the independence of the judiciary; (ii) Chief of the Army Staff (then President of Pakistan also), all Corps Commanders, General Staff Officers and all other conce ...

Did the PM violate the oath of secrecy? Prime Ministers, in the past, had overawed the Supreme Court Judges and made them throw the Constitution and guaranteed Fundamental Rights into dustbin, as we shamefully note from the infamous Emergency-ADM Jabalpur case. The uniqueness of PM in our system of governance is such that the Supreme Court had felt he was no ordinary person to be summoned to appear like a common accused in a trial court. It had ordered setting up of a special court in a high-security zone to appear in a cheating case [Commissioner of Delhi Police case 1996 (6) SCC 323]. To our amazement, we learnt from a just-released book by PM Manmohan Singh's one-time media adviser, Sanjaya Baru, that this Prime Minister was bent by the party president. After the party president took the high moral ground stand to give up power and chose Singh as the head of a Congress-led coalition government, Singh as PM had no illusion with whom the power centre rested. Singh chose Baru as his media adviser and task ...

Narendra Modi..Narendra Modi For PM... 12 reasons for Modi; what could even make him the best Prime Minister that India has ever seen. I haven’t seen leader-material better than Modi in Indian Politics since my childhood; and elders do say that post Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, India has not witnessed a leader who can speak as assertively and as clearly as Modi does! Personally, I am tired of spineless leaders representing the country and would love to see a leader who can stand up to world leaders and make them take note of India. Modi’s vision of growth is what India needs. Gujarat may not be the role model, but Modi is growth focussed, and such economic growth – rather than populist doles like free water and electricity – can take care of all our ills, and can equip people to make them independent. Modi may have seen an unfortunate riot happening during the initial part of his reign, and the Supreme Court may have correctly or incorrectly given him a clean chit, but the fact as they say is that the ...
Anomalies In The So Called Trial. To get Gen. Musharraf out of the present imbroglio certain steps have to be taken which our legal experts have not thought of. 1. A Constitutional Writ Petition challenging the basic validity, legality and maintainability of Article 6 of the Constitution must be filed because it conflicts with another important article 12 of the Constitution which states that no law can be made with retrospective effect. This was drafted according to the whims and fancies of ZAB for his protection from military takeover. It was supposed to be valid with retrospective effect or from 1956 with the ulterior motive of trying to punish Field Marshal Ayub Khan. Article 12 which does not allow laws to be framed with retrospective effect. This clause is present in every major constitution of the world. However, Article 6 is not there in advanced countries' constitutions. 2. This has to be filled in the High Court or Supreme Court whichever has the jurisdiction. 3. The original law pertaining to d ...

Odisha deserves better, Modi tells Sambalpur: Sandhya Jain. Simultaneously attacking the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the Congress-dominated UPA for failing to improve the lives of the people despite two successive mandates, Narendra Modi lashed out at the Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid for denigrating the Supreme Court and the Election Commission on the eve of elections while in London, and said that the Indian National Congress is an Institutions Neglecting Congress. Accusing his principal rival of destroying all constitutional institutions by a policy of “misuse, abuse, reduce (stature)”, the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate directly charged the Prime Minister, “You are responsible for this; two national institutions have been attacked abroad.” Addressing the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Samabesh Rally’ at Sambalpur on Friday, Narendra Modi said that India is the world’s largest democracy and nowhere in the world, free and fair elections are conducted with such speed and results are c ...
30 Reasons to Impeach Barack Hussein Obama 1. When American citizens were fighting for their lives against a terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, not only did President Obama refuse to defend our Ambassador and others, but he deliberately lied about the cause of the attack in order to win reelection. 2. Barack Obama refused to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) during a Supreme Court challenge, even though the law was passed with bipartisan support and signed into law by Pres. When asked about Supreme Court’s decision to commute deaths sentence of Rajiv Gandhi’s assassins, the UJC chief said: “The mainstream parties are dishonest, immoral, without conscience and worst opportunists. Today they shed crocodile tears just for their vote banks. When Mohammad Afzal Guru’s trial was on Farooq Abdullah (NC patron) said Guru should face the consequences. Saif-u-Din Soz (PCC President) said that law will take its course. PDP leadership backed out from the resolution on Guru. If they are so sympathetic towards their victim nation, they all should quit mainstream politics, leave power, leave assembly and display an open support for their people. A lot has been said about Rahul-Arnab interview and Rahul's blabbering on RTI, Women Empowerment, Local level empowerment, Strengthening the system blah blah. Rahul did not give any answers to the questions but spoke about his vision which had no relation to the questions. If I was Arnab, I would have changed the course of my questions and asked Rahul on his favourite subjects as under: 1. Empowerment - You talk of empowerment at local levels while your own Prime Minister is not empowered for last 10 years. What do you say to that? Your Cabinet ministers are not empowered to make any decision - like the stupid Ordinance. 2. Systems - You talk of system. However, it is your party which has systematically killed the constitutional authorities like PM's office, President's office, CBI and so on. What do you say to that? You talk of Democratic systems - are you suggesting that nobody in your party, other than you is a capable leader? 3. Women Empowerment - Ok, so what do you say about the Shah Bano case, when ...
CM says Army's goodwill at stake; to meet PM over acquitting of accused Pathribal 'fake encounter' case Agencies New Delhi In his first reaction on the 2000 Pathribal 'fake encounter' case, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has flayed the Indian Army, saying that it needs to be "a lot more accommodating". The Army had on Friday closed its probe in the case, acquitting the five accused soldiers, saying the evidence recorded could not establish prime facie charges against any of them. Omar Abdullah talking to a news channel said, "The Army has said that they don't have enough to proceed with the court martial. I hope the Government of India recognises the decision of the Army has not gone down well. This is a matter which is currently in front of the Supreme Court as well. The AFSPA argument will come up again. The CBI has found evidence, how can the army say that they cannot accept this?" He also said, "We are expecting the Prime Minister in Jammu & Kashmir early next month; it is an issue I will be discussing ...

Friday January 24, 2014 - The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman, Issack Hassan, has said former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga, risks being locked out of the 2017 Presidential Election, unless he withdraws and apologises for claiming that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) assisted in rigging the March 4th elections. In a terse statement issued on Thursday evening, Hassan said that the commission wants nothing other than an apology from the CORD leader or they ban him from any subsequent elections it conducts. “Raila Odinga must apologise for making outrageous accusations against us in a public forum at Kisumu. He had time to inform the Supreme Court about any allegations he had and produce the evidence during the petition, which he did not do,” the electoral boss said. “If he does not apologise, he risks being banned f ...

The proforma application form as also the rules and eligibility conditions have been displayed along with the advertisement. Who has initiated this process? From the advertisement it is clear that it is the Department of Personnel and Training which has initiated this entire process and invited the applications for the posts. On a reading of the Act as passed by both Houses of the Parliament the said department has no authority to call for such applications. Please read my article "A Response to the Prime Minister's Press Conference" and share your opinions. Today’s Press Conference by the Prime Minister was intended to announce the fact that he is no longer a contender for office after the General Elections. While announcing his own farewell one expected the Prime Minister to be candid. There was a historic opportunity for the Prime Minister for a reality check. I regret that he completely missed the opportunity. The Congress Party has been routed in the recent Assembly elections. Its prospects in the coming General Elections appear to be ‘disastrous’. This is entirely on account of performance of the UPA Government headed by Dr.Manmohan Singh. The Prime Minister admitted his Government’s failure in containing inflation, unemployment and corruption. A combination of these three factors makes a perfect recipe for an electoral doom. Instead of owning up to this reality, the Prime Minister would want only history to *** him. His mo ...

QUESTIONS BEFORE FANS OF BJP AND Narendra Modi ** 1) People believe that if Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister and if BJP comes to power, India will become Corruption free. But this is not true, The Truth is Narendra Modi Govt of Gujarat has not appointed Lokayukt for the past 8 years. When the Gujarat Governor appointed the Lokayukt forcefully,Gujarat Govt registered a case in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Lokayukt. Despite Supreme Court asking the Gujarat Govt to appoint Lokayukt, Govt referred this case further to a different bench in the Supreme Court. Supreme Court denied even this. The Corruption of Modi is totally hidden just because of the fact tht he has been kept on avoiding the Lokayukt. Till date, despite Supreme Court's orders, the appointment of Lokayukt has not been done. Will the BJP and Narendra Modi make India Corruption free ?? Courtsey: BJP Karnataka If there is any self respect left in Prime Minister, he must quit without any delay. The Congress Party now call the ordinance as ‘nonsense’. That means the government is senseless. How can a senseless government continue? The statement made by the Congress Vice President makes the Prime Minister, Sri Manmohan Singh’s position untenable. His regime is already clouded with scams and scandals. Be it is appointment of tainted person to the CVC, or its attempts to weaken institutions of CAG, EC, or episodes of dealing with Anna Hazare, Baba Ramdev, the rail gate, missing files in coal-gate, or attempt influence the CBI, or ruling of the Supreme Court on making aadhar number not mandatory, this government was always under cloud. The government has failed on all fronts. There is total collapse in administration and is suffering from policy paralysis. India’s image has gone ...
Modi’s Pretense of Justice – Riot Cases to Encounters The UK Prime Minister was reportedly impressed by the “fact” that, ’there have been significant developments in the legal process following the 2002 Gujarat riots,’. Cameron was never known to be literate in Indian affairs and his information regarding the “development in legal process in Gujarat” is indeed very shallow. So far as the cases arising out of the violence of 2002 is concerned, thousands have been closed down by the Gujarat Police and the only few that have resulted in conviction are those cases which were directed by the Supreme Court to be investigated and prosecuted by the Special Investigation team (SIT) formed by the Supreme Court! Even SIT refused to arrest Mayaben Kodnani and Jaydeep Patel till Jan Sangharsh Manch had analysed the Call Data Record of the two accused and produced their locations in the scene of crime before SIT. Thus Modi has no role to play in the development of legal process except obstructing the du ...

Dr Subramanian Swamy writes another letter to PM of India on Aircel-Maxis July 1, 2013 Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, South Block, New Delhi. Dear Prime Minister: Please refer to my earlier letter to you dated April 18, 2013 regarding the Aircel-Maxis deal and the CBI’s Supreme Court-monitered-investigation into the same. In my Interlocutory Application No. 36 in the matter, the Supreme Court had directed the CBI to investigate the issues I had raised therein, which included the fraudulent and bogus clearance of the deal by the FIPB allegedly claimed as on March 7, 2006 {when Mr. P. Chidambaram was Finance Minister}. Hence his role in the matter would automatically come under the scanner of the CBI. In this letter I bring to your notice information I have recently received. A Secret Note No. 51/1/2007-JIC(CS) had been prepared by the Joint Intelligence Committee of your Government based on inputs from all the main central Intelligence agencies submitted. In the said Secret Note it is ...
FB 373: New Delhi: The Supreme Court has delivered a verdict that will impact all cases against public officials, bureaucrats and ministers. Today's verdict provokes new embarrassment for the government because it agrees that Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy had every right to ask the Prime Minister's Office to sanction the prosecution of former Telecom Minister A Raja for corruption charges. Mr Swamy had gone to court against the Prime Minister's Office which refused to respond for many months to his petition. "The verdict is a slap on the government's face," said the BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad. Rules dictate that without sanction from a top government authority, a public servant cannot be prosecuted. The Supreme Court has said today that the authority in question has three months within which to decide if permission has been granted. Another month can be taken if the government wants to take the opinion of the Attorney General. If there is no response for four months, it can be assumed that pro . ...

Aftab Sultan gets the top IB job, twice in a year" ISLAMABAD: Senior Police Officer Aftab Sultan, who enjoys excellent integrity and repute, has become the Director General of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) for the second time in less than a year. It was on the inflexible insistence of Sultan, who was then serving as Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab, that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan agreed to wear a thin bulletproof jacket in view of serious security threat, the day he fell from a forklift. The jacket saved him from the possibly fatal consequences. The Yusuf Raza Gilani government named Sultan as the IB chief, a position that he voluntarily left in July last year to provide an opportunity to the new Prime Minister, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, to nominate the civilian spymaster of his choice. Importantly, as the IB chief Sultan advised President Asif Ali Zardari to ask the government to write letters to the Swiss authorities to honour the Supreme Court order about the money laundering ca ...

This follows a ruling by the Constitutional Court that the President must ensure elections are held not later than the 31st of July 2013 as failure to do so will be impeding on the Constitutional Rights of citizens. In a statement sent by the Principal Director of Communication and Spokesperson in the Office of the Prime Minister, Luke Tamborinyoka, Mr Tsvangirai said SADC and the people of Zimbabwe know that an election date is a result of political pronouncements in which the judiciary has no role to play. Prime Minister Tsvangirai says harmonised elections should be held by the 30th of October, arguing that though the term of parliament expires on the 29th of June, the executive can continue to be in office for four months.

(CORRUPTION) Pak SC orders arrest of PM Raja Pervez Ashraf in corruption case... Islamabad: Pakistan today plunged into a fresh political crisis with the Supreme Court ordering the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf for allegedly receiving bribes in power projects. Already rocked by fiery cleric Tahirul Qadri’s ongoing protest seeking dissolution of provincial and national assemblies, Pakistan appeared headed for uncertainty with the court setting a 24-hour deadline for authorities to implement its arrest orders that may cost a second Prime Minister to lose office in less than a year. 62-year-old Ashraf, who became Prime Minister after the exit of Yousuf Raza Gilani in June last year, has been accused of receiving kickbacks and commission in the Rental Power Projects (RPPs) case as Federal Minister for water and power. By General Mirza Aslam Begh: Dr. Tahirul Qadri’s Long March started from Lahore on 13th January 2013, challenging the “most corrupt government and the equally corrupt opposition” but ultimately it fell into the lap of those very people, he had been calling ‘Yazidis’, after signing the peace accord on 17th January. This declaration was countersigned by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, whose arrest orders by the Supreme Court were celebrated by Dr. Qadri a day earlier and his devotees claimed that “one of the objectives of their movement was achieved and “Zardari was the next to fall.” It was nothing short of miracle for so much of the impossible to happen in such a short period of time. The way this drama has been enacted, demonstrates the brilliance of the Master-Mind and the mavericks of Dr. Qadri that led to the signing of the accord, demands a careful examination, act by act: Act One. During his seven years of self-exile in Canada, Dr. Qadri preached the concept of liberal and political ...
Today’s politicians versus Vishnu Dasavtars Of late, we have seen bureaucrats, ministers and even the prime minister being sentenced to jail across the globe. A few days back, Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered Prime Minister of Pakistan to be put behind bars. A court in India convicted former Chief Minister of Haryana. Many ministers in India in recent past also have tasted the prison. There was a time when politicians were considered God. If we compare them with our mythology, they were like kings and their darbar ministers. The public used to approach them when they were in difficulty and for them the king and the ministers were God sent persons. But, in today’s scenario, we see that most the politicians and bureaucrats are being framed for corruption and put behind bars. Is this a sign of Kalyug going in Ghore Kalyug is a matter of debate. One can understand this by understanding ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. The first incarnation represents the fish quality of a leader and that is being positiv ...

Joint Statement Supporting Chief Theresa Spence and (Updated) January 2, 2012 Indigenous and human rights organizations stand in solidarity with Chief Theresa Spence in her appeal for full respect for Aboriginal and Treaty rights by the government of Canada. There is an urgent need for Canada to demonstrate genuine respect and long-term commitment, initiated by a meeting between First Nations' leadership, the Prime Minister and the Governor General. Full honour and implementation of Indigenous peoples' Treaties are crucial to the evolution of Canada and the principle of federalism. Cooperative and harmonious relations cannot be achieved by devaluing Treaties or by unilateral government actions. We firmly support grassroots actions of the "Idle No More" movement. It has put the spotlight on federal policy and legislative agendas that are trampling the inherent rights of Indigenous peoples affirmed in domestic and international law. Dear Prime Minister Harper, please consider this from Gordon F.D.Wilson regarding your responsibilities to Chief Theresa Spence: "…many leaders of First Nations in Canada were never conquered and have not ceded authority to Ottawa, and the Supreme Court, the highest court in Canada, agrees. For that reason a Chief of a First Nation may well demand to meet with her/his counterpart, namely the Prime Minister and/or the Queen’s representative, the Governor General of Canada. These demands are neither new nor are they unique… someone needs to take Stephen Harper aside and remind him that while he may fashion his leadership after Louis XVI he isn’t a monarch, not even an aristocrat. Chief Spence is seeking a meeting, not an audience. Harper… has an obligation not only to First Nations in Canada, but to all Canadians to show leadership in matters such as this."
Sharif was born in Lahore, the son of Mian Mohammad Sharif, then the owner of a modest cast-iron parts business who later became a prominent industrialist. Nawaz Sharif became politically prominent after General Muhammad Zia ul-Haq declared martial law over Pakistan in 1977. Sharif served as Finance Minister for General Zia, and then served as a provincial Chief Minister. He became an important figure in Pakistani politics when elected government was restored in 1988 after General Zia's death. He first became Prime Minister on November 1, 1990, running on a platform of conservative government and an end to corruption. His term was interrupted on April 18, 1993, when the President used his Eighth Amendment powers to dissolve the Assemblies. Less than six weeks later, the Supreme Court overruled the President, restoring the Assemblies and returning Sharif to power on May 26, 1993. India News - Friday 14 December 2012 New Delhi: Issuing a notice to the government on whether it will refer the case of Captain Saurabh Kalia to the International Court of Justice, the Supreme Court said: "We share the pain of the father. Well we should reconsider, for this is a truth that is well documented. KSBW news reported in October 2009 how most of the US presidents were genetically related, “A seventh-grader and her 80-year-old grandfather are allegedly the first people to discover that President Barack Obama is related to all other US presidents except one. In 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that the abortion provision of the Criminal Code was unconstitutional. But this week, Parliament will be debating a motion that would threaten our reproductive rights - and the rights of our friends, daughters, mothers, sisters, and partners.[3,4,5] Prime Minister Harper has chosen to allow this motion to go forward to a free vote in Parliament, so every MP must decide whether or not they will stand up for the rights that women and our allies have been fighting to protect for decades.
A REVERSE JOURNEY. When Pakistan Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf presents himself before the country’s Supreme Court in a contempt of court case today, Pakistan’s increasingly tarnished democracy will also test its limits. The event marks the latest episode in a court case spanning several months. It is built around a dispute emerging from the refusal by the members of Pakistan’s ruling coalition, led by the PPP, to concede ground and formally request the authorities in Switzerland to reopen corruption-related investigations against President Asif Zardari. The matter has already taken its political toll with Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, having been thrown out of office by the Supreme Court. Though it is impossible to predict the exact outcome in this issue, it is safe to say that it will, indeed, be a tough call by the Supreme Court to just give a clean bill of health to Ashraf, having already punished his predecessor on the same charge. As this fight continues, which to m ...

Signalling that he would fight the coming polls on the plank of "injustice meted out to Gujarat", Mr Modi struck an aggressive tone to kickstart his 2012 month-long campaign through Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra from the holy town of Becharaji in Mehsana. For who went down in the streets in fury in 2002? Hundreds, if not thousands of Gujuratis, not only from the lower strata of society, not only Dalits, but also middle class, and sometimes even upper middle class! Should they also not be judged? But then it would be the whole of Gujarat who should be hauled to court, an ancient and noble race, who gave so much to India, including Mahatma Gandhi, and today is still exporting all over the world its upright and successful businessmen, to the US, for instance, where they own most of the motels. Nobody dares do that; it’s much each easier to target Mr Modi and Mrs Kodnani. And why were none of the Kahsmiris who killed and hounded out the Hindus in the Valley of Kashmir ever condemned? It was a much bigger genocide. Is it logic today that the Indian media, its intellectuals and even its governmen ...
Their own words tell the story (from both the perpetrators and those who have warned us - videos, articles and excerpts for support): "The world is governed by very different personages from what is imagined by those who are not behind the scenes." — Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli of England, in 1844. "The real rulers in Washington are invisible and exercise their power from behind the scenes." — Justice Felix Frankfurter, U.S. Supreme Court. "Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men's views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it" —Woodrow Wilson, Signed the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. "The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a g ...

P Chidambaram still has a lot to answer for Mr P Chidambaram may have some reason to celebrate after the Supreme Court on August 24 cleared him of any criminal conspiracy in the 2G Spectrum scam. In response to an appeal filed by Janata Party chief Subramanian Swamy to include Mr Chidambaram as a co-accused, the court has found no prima facie evidence of his involvement in the Rs 1.76 lakh crore scandal. But that is only a legal relief. To that extent, the Minister can now go to town claiming innocence in the deal. But the fact remains that criminal trials are proceeding against various people in connection with that scam. And, the fact also is that Mr Chidambaram, who was the Union Minister for Finance when the first-come-first-served telecom licensing policy was implemented, did endorse a decision which is now under legal scrutiny. Hence, the legal clearance that he has received does not in any way mitigate the most important aspect of the questionable deal: The Minister’s political accountability. I ...

The government will amend the Constitution, if need be, to provide reservation in job promotions to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes. This was announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday at the conclusion of an all-party meeting here, at which most parties called for legally sustainable legislation in the backdrop of the Supreme Court striking down such a measure.
I will be very frank with you here. One of the reasons why I did not reveal the sources of information is that it is widely perceived. I can give you some supporting evidence. I cannot give you a conclusive or clinching evidence. I felt that Shri Ram Jethmalani who was cross-examining me there was a Legal Advisor to the LTTE. He is the only person today who has gone on record to criticise the TADA Court Judgment sentencing to death those 26 prisoners. I have given a copy of the cutting to the Speaker. I may read out from it. This is the Mid Day of Thursday, 29 January, 1998. `Centre's most foul' is the headline. It says: "The former Law and Justice Minister(of the previous 13-day Government) Ram Jethmalani was shaken by the extraordinary verdict. Told Mid Day that the fact that the victim was a former Prime Minister probably played in the mind of the Judge. Jethmalhi hoped that the judgment would be corrected by the Apex Court. Maybe, the Judge simply wanted to pass the case on to the Supreme Court." Shri ...
The fact that people like “Kanda” are allowed to be flee is just not a failure of Delhi Police. It is system which allows criminals to flee. What was electronic media doing when Kanda left his house supposedly to surrender before Police? If people like Ramdeo can be followed from Airport to Rajghat and finally to Ramlila grounds, why electronic media could not follow the Kanda? It is interesting to note that Prime Minister, Delhi Chief Minister, High Court and Supreme Court try to remain silent on such issues. Why can’t High Court of Delhi take a sumo motto cognizance of such cases?
Prime Minister should come out of President Zardari’s pressure and write to the Swiss authorities in his capacity as the Chief Executive of the country, in compliance with the Supreme Court orders. Government has accepted the Supreme Court verdict in regard to Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, and there is no option before Raja Pervez Ashraf except to implement the court order. Judiciary’s orders are being disgraced only because of the shamelessness of the presidency

Click to play video New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday blamed the UPA government for creating a financial mess in the country. Reacting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's assurances on the economy, Sinha said the claims were laughable. He said Manmohan Singh was an overrated economist and underrated politician. "Manmohan Singh has always acted as a consultant to the government, being a Prime Minister for eight years and a Finance Minister for some years. Who brought this situation? It's absolutely wrong to say it is a global mess, it's a domestic mess created by the government," Sinha said. Reacting to the Prime Minister's comments on corruption, Sinha said, "These are the most laughable of all comments made so far. He has defended his corrupt ministers to the hilt, it's only when the Supreme Court used its stick that they gave up. Why is he protecting Chidambaram? He protected Raja earlier." Yashwant Sinha also said that there was no point holding talks with Pakistan. This ...

By Sunil Rajguru : Subramanian Swamy has to be one of the most under-rated politicians in India. A one-man Army, he is responsible for kicking off many a political storm in India. This PhD from Harvard University and Janata Party president has attacked many political parties in India with great success. His current fixation is 2G. Former Telecom Minister A Raja may have resigned in 2011, but Swamy had been gunning for him from as early as 2008. He wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asking for Raja to be prosecuted. When the PM ignored his five letters, Swamy petitioned the Supreme Court. The SC directed the CBI to look into the matter which in turn chargesheeted many bigwigs including Raja, who ultimately landed up in Tihar Jail. In 2011, Swamy is going after Home Minister P Chidambaram, who he has equated with Raja. Chidambaram's last election has been challenged in court. You can be sure that there could be trouble in the years to come. The Congress must be squirming in their seats for Swamy has eve ...

What is intriguing is why Nawaz Sharif has abandoned his policy of restraint vis-à-vis the PPP-led government, a restraint informed by the bitter experience of the military taking advantage of the politicians’ falling out to intervene and pack up the democratic system altogether. The restraint shown by Nawaz Sharif over the past four years may have earned him the sarcastic jibe of acting like a ‘friendly’ opposition, but it now appears he has allowed himself to be persuaded by the hawks in his party (led by Chaudhry Nisar and backed up by younger brother Shahbaz Sharif) to go all out against the government. The timing of the change is also intriguing, given that the country is in the run up to general elections. The opportunity for the turn has been presented by the contempt conviction of the prime minister by the Supreme Court but the PML-N has displayed its impatience with the legal and political process to be gone through before the verdict can take effect. Whatever PML-N is doing is for to to p ...

PNG deputy leader in court rampage Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia. [ABC] Liam Fox, Port Moresby, staff Last Updated: 20 minutes ago There have been extraordinary scenes in Papua New Guinea's Supreme Court after the Deputy Prime Minister burst in and attempted to arrest the Chief Justice. The Chief Justice, Sir Salamo Injia, had just sat down to hear a case when the Deputy Prime Minister Belden Namah barged into the court room. He shouted: "Enough is enough . . . I warned you I was going to arrest you." He was accompanied by several policemen, soldiers, and senior government ministers. At first Sir Salamo raised his hand in an attempt to calm the situation then rose and rushed into his chambers out the back door. The soldiers and police rushed out after him but his assistant blocked them and was roughly shoved out of the way.

I have been thinking a lot about politics and government lately, and how disheartened I am by the direction our government is taking under the current regime. Last night I read an interview with Justin Trudeau regarding his willingness – or lack thereof – to seek the nomination for leader of the Liberal Party. It reminded me of the years his father was Prime Minister and how – at that time – I r...eally felt that the government reflected my beliefs and aspirations for my country. Yes, he was far from perfect, and I make no apologies or excuses for his missteps (did someone mention the War Measures Act and the National Energy Policy?). But there was something about his general philosophy that drew me in and echoed many of my own beliefs: Canada as a “Just Society;” “the government has no place in the bedrooms of the nation;” official bi-lingualism; the recognition of a “plurality of cultures” as critical to Canadian nationalism; appointing the first woman to the Supreme Court; hanging o ...

Punjab social activists jointly urge PM to ensure proper medical treatment to jailed tribal teacher To, 1. Shri Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, New Delhi 2. Shri Raman Singh, Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Raipur We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned by the pathetic condition of Soni Sori in Raipur Central Jail. It has been reported that she has been passing blood with her urine, is having difficulty to sit or get up, and has lost considerable weight. Although the Supreme Court, on a petition moved on her behalf has ordered the Chhattisgarh Govt to bring her to AIIMS New Delhi for treatment. The inhuman character of Chhattisgarh Govt was clearly reflected in its stiff opposition to the petition. It is unfortunate that despite the doctors from NRS Medical Hospital having confirmed that stones had been inserted into her *** and rectum, Soni Sori has not received proper medical care. We fear for Soni’s life and are outraged and ashamed at this inhuman treatment of a woman in India. Soni So .. ...
The war on marijuana is “destructive, expensive and ineffective,” said a letter sent to the Prime Minister by the Global Commission on Drug Policy to urge the PM to legalize pot. The letter, which was signed by Louise Arbour, a former Supreme Court of Canada judge, former Brazilian president Fernando Cardoso, former Swiss president Ruth Dreifuss and Virgin Group founder Richard Branson, alerts that despite many governments from around the world changing their stance on the war on drugs, Canada is making drug crimes tougher, and the signatories are encouraging Canada to mimic other governments because it is digging “the same grave mistakes as other countries.” In a Canadian Press report, it showed some examples from the letter that brightly defends the stance for legalization of pot, such as the state of the war on drugs in the U.S., where they had to build more prisons to hold drug users, but at the end of the day, drugs are still very accessible, especially to young people where it is much easier ...

Friend -- Stephen Harper said he would not re-open the debate on a woman’s right to choose. But 24 hours from now, he’ll allow Conservative MP Stephen Woodworth to put forward a motion in the House of Commons which clearly opens the possibility of re-criminalizing abortion. It’s up to you to make sure Canadian women and men know about it. Please sign and share the petition and tell the Prime Minister: Hands off our reproductive rights. When I began my nursing career in the 1950s in Quebec, contraception was illegal and women had no say over family planning. They had no choice, and some faced desperation. I saw women come to the hospital, bleeding and in pain, only to discover they'd tried to end their pregnancy themselves. As a nurse, and later as an MP and Senator, I took part in the hard-fought battles to institutionalize and enshrine the right to choose in Canadian law. And in 1988 the debate was settled when the Supreme Court ruled: “The decision whether or not to terminate a pregnancy is esse ...
How about that Komrade Obama? He's making Jimmy Carter look like George Washington!! Of his many endless blunders, he disses the Prime Minister of Israel (this proves he is indeed a Muslim), and today, he talks trash to the justices of the Supreme Court, because they're just not going to roll over and allow the Constitution to be ignored by upholding Obamacare! And, he blames the EVIL oil companies for the high price of gasoline?? Even the liberals have to admit...Komrade Obama is in serious trouble for re-election. Remember the famous words of Democratic President Harry Truman: "THE BUCK STOPS HERE!" Hope?? Change??? Amen...we HOPE that the resident of the White House will CHANGE in January 2013!
