Both headlines in the press today. “The King of Saudi Arabia is to refer the case of blogger and activist Raif Badawi's to the Supreme Court, his wife has told BBC News. Saudi authorities postponed Badawi's second round of public flogging for a week, citing medical reasons, the Associated Press reported. In May last year, authorities sentenced Badawi, 31, to 10 years in prison and 1,000 lashes after he used his liberal blog to criticise Saudi Arabia's powerful clerics. The Jiddah Criminal Court also ordered he pay a fine of 1 million Saudi riyals (£175,700).” AP Obama: Europe should better integrate Muslims WASHINGTON (AFP) - US President Barack Obama on Friday urged European governments to try to better assimilate their Muslim minority populations as they respond to extremist attacks like last week’s shootings in Paris. ***TV NEWS LEGEND: OBAMA EXPLODES WITH 'PROFANITY'*** Journalist slams administration as 'most opaque' Legendary ABC News journalist Ann Compton says President Barack Obama launches into “profanity-laced” tirades against the news media in off-the-record meetings with reporters, and she calls his administration “more opaque than any I have covered.” Compton retired from the network in August after a 40-year career, and she made the comments about Obama in a new interview that aired Sunday night with Brian Lamb of C-SPAN. “I have seen in the last year Barack Obama really angry twice,” Compton said. “Both were off-the-record times. One, profanity-laced where he thought the press was making too much of scandals that he did not think were scandals.” She added, “And I don’t find him apologetic. But I find him willing to stand up to the press and look them in the eye, even though it was off the record, and just give us *** ” While Lamb wondered if Obama had a point, Compton said, “We cov ...

Congress Should Reject War Authorization Against Islamic State: Tell President No to Stupid WarPresident Barack Obama finally is obeying the law. He wants Congress to authorize military action against the Islamic State. That's what the Constitution requires. Congress should respond as it was prepared to do when the president requested permission last year to bomb Syria. Capitol Hill should say no. Barack Obama once believed in congressional supremacy. In December 2007 candidate Obama stated: "The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation." At the same time candidate Joseph Biden insisted that the Constitution gave "Congress the power to initiate all hostilities, even limited wars." But that was then and this is now. Three years ago President Barack Obama took America into war against Libya. Three months ago he initiated hostilities in Iraq against the Islamic Stat ...

On July 21, President Barack Obama delivered on his promise to expand special rights and privileges to homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals, and at the same time, specifically rejected repeated calls to include religious liberty exemptions for Christian-owned businesses. His executive order is an immediate response to the U.S. Supreme Court's recent Hobby Lobby decision and the failure of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's attempt last week to punish companies like Hobby Lobby, which practice their Christian faith in their business. Defying the Constitution, which gives only Congress the authority to make laws, President Obama decreed that anyone who does business with the federal government must adopt written policies that specifically mandate special protections for "sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin." See OneNewsNow story here. Obama's love affair with homosexuality will impact some 24,000 companies with 28 million workers, or one-fifth of the U.S. workforce. More alarmin ...
President Barack Obama is acting like "a bad gambler at Vegas" by doubling down on executive actions less than a week after a stinging Supreme Court defeat, says George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley.
President Obama has said h will bypass Congress again and use his exertive power to give Amnesty to illegal immigrants. this in spite of the fact that in the last 10 days the Supreme Court "He was found to be in violation of the Fourth Amendment on privacy, then another case found him in violation of separation of powers. Now he's been found in violation of religious rights in the First Amendment" in the Hobby Lobby case, said Jonathan Turley Professor Jonathan Turley is a nationally recognized legal scholar who has written extensively in areas ranging from Constitutional Law to legal theory to tort law. He has written over three dozen academic articles that have appeared in a variety of leading law journals at Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Northwestern, and other schools Turley, who teaches at George Washington University, agrees with much of President Barack Obama's political positions, but fears Obama is moving the United States toward a system in which the president's power is unchecked by Congr ...

It is not a disease!" and "We are here today because the abortion industry stands to make hundreds of millions of dollars off of American women by selling them the same lie over and over again. You are not equal unless you have an abortion. You are not equal unless you take cancer causing birth control pills." Seriously? We'll talk about the rhetoric and what it might mean in 2016. Our First Amendment hangs by a thread. Speak out! It is a shame this only passed 5-4 instead of unanimously. You had the three bimbos and another *** voting against the First Amendment right of individuals and corporations to have freedom of religion. They voted to restrict the First Amendment and sell it out to Obamacare. The First Amendment trumps any god-damned Obama mandate. From Gary Bauer. Supreme Court Upholds Religious Liberty For the third time in less than two weeks, the Supreme Court has rebuked the Obama Administration for its overreach. Today the court ruled 5-to-4 that Hobby Lobby and other closely held businesses cannot be forced to subsidize abortion-inducing drugs in violation of their deeply held religious beliefs. Politico described today's ruling as "a huge black eye for Obamacare, the administration and its backers," adding that the justices have reinforced the argument of conservative critics that "[Obamacare] and President Barack Obama are encroaching on Americans' freedoms." House Speaker John Boehner said today he plans to move forward with a lawsuit against President Barack Obama for misusing executive powers by allegedly side-stepping Congress on immigration and other policies. In a memo to Republicans, Boehner accused Obama of asserting “king-like authority.” Baloney. As I’ve pointed out on this page, every rule and legal interpretation Obama has made has been pursuant to a specific act of Congress. If there’s a misuse of constitutional authority it’s in the Republican House, which has refused to appropriate enough funds to enforce the laws already on the books – laws designed to protect workers, consumers, small investors, and the environment, and to collect taxes. Enforcement budgets at the Department of Labor, Securities and Exchange Commission, EPA, IRS, and consumer protection agencies have been slashed so badly many laws no longer have the full force of law. If the Supreme Court weren’t stacked with rightwing Republicans I might even suggest Obama sue ...

Sen. Lindsey Graham will fend off a conservative challenge and win the Republican primary in South Carolina to avoid a runoff, CNN projects. Graham is seeking a third term in the Senate but attracted six opponents in his party's primary, most of them from the conservative wing of the party that is still angry over Graham's 2008 vote for the Wall Street bailout, his voting in favor of President Barack Obama's Supreme Court nominations and his support for immigration reform. Graham will face state Sen. Brad Hutto in the general election. Hutto easily won the Democratic nomination on Tuesday, but in solidly red South Carolina he is considered a long shot to win in November.

I find it ironic that while this is supposed to be the 51st Anniversary of Equal Pay Act. It wasn't until January 29, 2009, President Barack Obama signed into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which overturned the holding of a Supreme Court case, Ledbetter v. Goodyear, regarding the applicable statute of limitations. This bill, providing that each gender-unequal paycheck is a new violation of the law, was the first signing of the Obama Presidency and came almost forty-five years after the Equal Pay Act. However, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics women’s salaries vis-à-vis men’s have risen dramatically since the EPA’s enactment, from 62% of men’s earnings in 1979 to 80% in 2004. But they dropped sharply again down to 78% in 2008. Nonetheless, the EPA’s equal pay for equal work goals have not been completely achieved, as demonstrated by the BLS data and Congressional findings within the text of the proposed Paycheck Fairness Act. Men are now impacted as much as women in being underp ...

The White House will not appeal a federal court's order to release the memo outlining the administration's legal arguments for the use of lethal drone strikes against American citizens. The announcement was made Tuesday on the eve of a key Senate vote. David Barron, President Barack Obama's nominee for a seat on the US Court of Appeals, cleared a procedural Senate vote Wednesday. Voting 52 to 43, Barron will now proceed to a formal confirmation vote. Republican Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky voiced his opposition, saying anyone who argues the president has the power to kill an American citizen without trial "is not worthy of being placed one step away from the Supreme Court." Narendra Modi IS TALLEST OF ALL LEADERS. WE WITH HEART CONGRATULATE Narendra Modi FOR HIS HARD WORK.
Supreme Court refuses to stop indefinite detention of Americans under NDAA: On Monday, the High Court said it won’t weigh in on challenge filed by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges and a bevy of co-plaintiffs against US President Barack Obama, ending for now a two-and-a-half-year debate concerning part of an annual Pentagon spending bill that since 2012 has granted the White House the ability to indefinitely detain people "who are part of or substantially support Al-Qaeda, the Taliban or associated forces engaged in hostilities against the United States.” The Obama Administration has long maintained that the provision — Section 1021(b)(2) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 — merely reaffirmed verbiage contained within the Authorization for Use of Military Force, or AUMF, signed by then-President George W. Bush in the immediate aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Opponents, however, argued that the language in Section 1021 of the NDAA is o ...
" and if the Justice Department succeeds "it could place President Barack Obama in the awkward position of presiding over the jailing of a journalist in an administration the president has vowed to make the most transparent in history." I'd said in the past that the U.S. currently is resembling the USSR from the 1970's. This story emphasizes this quite nicely.while one branch of the federal government - the State Department -is getting ready to loudly, publicly and officially support a free press another branch of government - the "Justice" Department- is leaning on the Supreme Court to help it imprison an American reporter for refusing to divulge his sources. On a side note, as regards the opening quote I don't think both promising to have the most transparent administration and imprisoning reporters will be too hard for Barry to handle. He is the one, after all who both received the Peace Prize and droned wedding parties.

When the Supreme Court hears two landmark cases about birth control on Tuesday, few observers doubt that Justice Antonin Scalia's sympathies will be the Catholic business owners who charge that the mandate violates their religious liberties. The Reagan-appointed jurist is a devout Catholic who has extolled "traditional Christian virtues" and insists the devil is "a real person." He even has a son who's a Catholic priest. He voted in 2012 to wipe out Obamacare in its entirety and has been President Barack Obama's most outspoken foe on the Supreme Court. And yet, Scalia's past jurisprudence stands contradictory to the argument for striking down the Obamacare rule in question, which requires for-profit employers' insurance plans to cover contraceptives (like Plan B, Ella and intrauterine devices) for female employees without co-pays. In 1990, Scalia wrote the majority opinion in Employment Division v. Smith, concluding that the First Amendment "does not require" the government to grant "religious exemptions" ...

Dr. Ben Carson, a Pediatric Neurosurgeon at Johns Hopkins, spoke at the National Prayer Breakfast in February 2013. Recently, President Obama gave a stunning speech about religious freedom and liberties. Why was his speech stunning? Because Hobby Lobby is taking him to the Supreme Court over Religious liberties and freedom as is the Catholic Church. People in the audience called the experience surrealistic and stunning, in light of his policies. Anyway, Dr. Ben Carson was INVITED to speak in 2013 at this same breakfast, and he delivered a "principled rebuttal of President Barack Obama's policies". Dr. Carson is a black man raised in abject poverty who became a learned man of science and healing. He ended his speech concluding, "We live in a Gestapo age". Since that day he, his family, friends, and associates have been besieged by the IRS. When they find nothing for the last two years, they go back to the last four, and so forth. Cruz: Democrats Protect Obama's 'Lawlessness' Republican Sen. Ted Cruz is outraged at Democrats for following President Barack Obama's "lawlessness" in order to protect the commander in chief from being held accountable for his actions. Cruz, the crusading Tea Party Texan, who spent 21 hours on the Senate floor attempting to block Obamacare, harshly criticized his Democratic colleagues for failing to speak up and protect the Constitution as Obama usurps his authority, particularly when it comes to the appointing of federal judges in the Washington D.C. Circuit, during a Fox News interview. Story continues below video. That Circuit Court — viewed as a stepping stone to the U.S. Supreme Court — is particularly powerful because it rules on decisions made by federal administrative agencies. Fox News host Shannon Bream asked Cruz whether it was the president's right to stack the courts with judges he views as having the same ideological mindset as his own and whether the GOP might feel differently if it wa ...

Kandy Sealy posts: By Saturday afternoon, more than 250,000 people had signed on to the class-action lawsuit U.S. Sen. Rand Paul plans to file against the Obama Administration over the National Security Agency's (NSA) collection of data through domestic surveillance programs. Paul, R-Bowling Green, had been contemplating the effort for several months and announced it Friday night when appearing on Hannity on Fox News. The senator said he hopes to take the suit against President Barack Obama and the NSA "all the way to the Supreme Court" on the issue of "whether or not constitutionally you can have a single warrant apply to millions of people." Paul, who saw his national profile skyrocket early last year when he filibustered the nomination of CIA director John Brennan over domestic drone use, said he thinks "everybody in American who has a cell phone would be eligible for this class-action suit." Paul has not yet filed suit, but he said he plans to do so this month when the complaint is ready. "We want to ...

OBAMA BROKE SUPER PAC PLEDGE DURING CAMPAIGN - If you like your president's fundraising scruples, you can keep them forget about it. Amanda Terkel and Sam Stein: "President Barack Obama quietly attended a fundraising event for the allied super PAC Priorities USA less than a month before the 2012 election, despite a campaign pledge to stay away from such functions, a new book reveals. In February 2012, the Obama campaign gave its blessing to the creation of the super PAC, saying that while the president opposed the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, which opened the floodgates to such outside political spending, he couldn't allow himself to be outspent by his conservative opposition. But the campaign attempted to assuage concerns among Democrats and campaign finance reform advocates by promising that Obama would not solicit donations on behalf of the super PAC. "While campaign officials may be appearing at events to amplify our message, these folks won't be soliciting contributions for Priorities US ...

The individual Health Insurance mandate is constitutional, the Supreme Court ruled Thursday, upholding the central provision of President Barack Obama's signature Affordable Care Act. The 5-4 majority opinion, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, upheld the mandate as a tax, although concluded it was not valid as an exercise of Congress' Commerce Clause power. Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan joined in the majority.
Dear Conservative Republicans, Tea Party fanatics, and misguided Libertarians: I have seen many posts on Social Media sites discussing the government shutdown and the Affordable Care Act. I have a simple message for you. The ACA was passed by Congress, signed by the President, upheld by the Supreme Court, and reaffirmed by a majority of Americans with the re-election of President Barack Obama. It is the law of the land and there is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Nothing! Please stop acting like a bunch of angry ideologues who feel the need to throw a temper tantrum because you didn't get what you want. Please stop holding our country hostage while you wage war against U.S. citizens. YOU are hurting our country, hurting our economy, and hurting the people you claim to represent. It's time to grow up and stop acting like spoiled children. Sincerely, A Sane Citizen

A big Medicaid gap looms in Obama Health Care law Associated Press Nearly 2 in 3 uninsured low-income people who would qualify for subsidized coverage under President Barack Obama's Health Care law may be out of luck next year because their states have not expanded Medicaid. An Associated Press analysis of figures from the Urban Institute finds a big coverage gap developing, with 9.7 million out of 15 million potentially eligible adults living in states that are refusing the expansion or are still undecided with time running short. That a majority of the neediest people who could be helped by the law may instead remain uninsured is a predicament seemingly unforeseen by Obama and congressional Democrats who designed a sweeping extension of the social safety net. The law's historic promise of Health Insurance for nearly all U.S. residents would not be fulfilled as envisioned. It's the direct consequence of last summer's Supreme Court decision that gave states the right to opt out of the Medicaid expansion, ...
Africa's President reveals the SHAME of America .Africa more a Christian Nation than America??? I am so Ashamed! President Barack Obama's comments while in Senegal last week in support of *** rights aren't sitting well with politicians in Kenya, where same-sex acts are treated as crimes. Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto slammed Obama's remarks at separate religious events. Addressing a congregation Sunday, Ruto said Kenya will uphold its strong religious beliefs on homosexuality. "This country, the nation of Kenya, is a God-fearing nation," Ruto said. Homosexuality is illegal in Kenya, where 90 percent of people believe homosexuality is wrong, according to the Pew Research Center. "Those who believe in other things, that is their business," Ruto said, referring to Obama's comments in support of *** marriage. "We believe in God." Obama's comments followed the Supreme Court's rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8. The Court's decisions legalized same sex m ...
The 44th Anniversary of the Stonewall Inn-surrection Introduction to a Cautionary Critique I am very encouraged by the Supreme Court's ruling declaring DOMA (the so-called Defense of Marriage Act) unconstitutional according to the Fifth Amendment's Equal Protection clause, and now same-sex couples who legally marry in states that have such rights will receive federal marriage benefits. Also, by throwing the decision on California's Proposition 8 back to the lower court, which had already judged the voter-approved ballot initiative unconstitutional, the Supreme Court has virtually guaranteed same-sex couples in California the legal right to marry. On May 9 of last year, President Barack Obama, in an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, "came out" for marriage equality, asserting that "same-sex couples should be able to get married." In 2011 I watched when the news broke that the New York State Senate, following the New York State Assembly's lead, had passed a bill legalizing marriage for same-sex couples. I ...
OBAMA CLASHES WITH AFRICAN HOST OVER *** RIGHTS- Associated Press - DAKAR, Senegal (AP) — President Barack Obama on Thursday praised the Supreme Court's ruling on same-sex marriage as a "victory for American democracy" but clashed with his African host over *** rights in a sign of how far the movement has to go internationally. Obama said recognition of *** unions in the United States should cross state lines and that equal rights should be recognized universally. It was his first chance to expand on his thoughts about the ruling, which was issued Wednesday as he flew to Senegal, one of many African countries that outlaw homosexuality. Senegalese President Macky Sall rebuffed Obama's call for Africans to give *** equal rights under the law. "We are still not ready to decriminalize homosexuality," Sall said, while insisting that the country is "very tolerant" and needs more time to digest the issue without pressure. "This does not mean we are homophobic." Obama said *** rights didn't come up in their pr ...

Sorry President Obama...this statement DOES NOT go far enough. Quite frankly I am tired of these political "statements" to give to the press so we can gasp and say, "Oh wow...he said DEEPLY DISAPPOINTED...wow...I heard that!" From the President, I am with Dr. West and Tavis Smiley on this one...I want to see some ACTION! That being said, the people also need to get up off of our butts and mobilize to fight for this cause. We need to actually vote in 2014 and put pressure on. This is not the Presidents fight alone...if we want to see change the we need to be the change!! -= President Barack Obama said Tuesday he is "deeply disappointed" with the Supreme Court for invalidating a key section of the Voting Rights Act that requires federal approval to change voting laws in places with a history of discrimination. Obama called on Congress to pass new legislation to guarantee voting rights, and pledged continued administration action on the issue. SCOTUS strikes down Section 4 of the Voting Rights Act. It was the right decision. Some say the states that will be affected most are in the South where there are more African American state legislators in the South (majority are in Mississippi, Georgia, Maryland and Alabama) than anywhere else in the nation combined. Mississippi a state that once sweltered in racism has more African American elected officials than any state in the nation. It is time we own up to our responsibility to VOTE and vote those out of office those who don't share the values of our nation. Too many including African Americans put too much put an emphasis on protecting the few and not the entire nation. African Americans have been too dependent on Affirmative Action, Voting Rights etc. When the majority of Americans voted President Barack Obama in 2008 on the mantle of CHANGE, many didn't change including those who are now upset about the Supreme Court's decision. I have been reading some comments of those who are upset a ...
EAT CROW.PHOENIX -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed a law expanding the state's Medicaid program following her victory over conservatives in her own party opposed to embracing a key part of President Barack Obama's Health Care overhaul. The Republican governor gathered key lawmakers from both parties who voted for the law at Monday morning's ceremony. Conservative Republicans in the Arizona House and Senate fought the proposal bitterly for months but the Legislature's Democrats and some Republicans teamed up to approve the law. Opponents of the bill are planning a citizen's referendum that would block it and a lawsuit is also possible. Brewer fought the law but agreed to add more than 300,000 poor Arizonans to the program after the Supreme Court found it was constitutional and Obama was re-elected.
Lawyer Cliff Sloan faces tough assignment: Closing Guantanamo Cliff Sloan has represented Jon Bon Jovi's band in legal matters and argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. Now, he has perhaps his toughest assignment: Helping to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The Washington attorney was named on Monday as the State Department's Guantanamo Bay envoy, a central player in President Barack Obama's renewed push to make good on a 2008 campaign promise to shut the installation where the United States holds terrorism suspects. Obama wants to close the facility because it is a legacy of the Bush administration that he feels has damaged the U.S. reputation with allies around the world. The most pressing demand for Sloan, who has deep legal skills but little foreign policy experience, will be to serve as the lead negotiator for the transfer of Guantanamo Bay detainees abroad, a task fraught with difficulty. Obama last month lifted a ban on the transfer of prisoners to Yemen. Of 166 detaine ...
Paul Lepage Gov. Paul LePage speaks at a news conference, Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at the State House in Augusta, Maine. (AP Photo/Robert F. Bukaty) Maine Governor Paul LePage blasted the Supreme Court's Health Care ruling on Saturday, saying the "decision has made America less free." "We the people have been told there is no choice," LePage said in his weekly radio address. "You must buy Health Insurance or pay the new Gestapo -- the I.R.S." He specifically targeted the individual mandate, calling its classification as a tax the most "disturbing" portion of the ruling. “Now that Congress can use the taxation power of the federal government to compel behavior or lack thereof, what’s next?" LePage asked. "More taxes if we don’t drive Toyota Priuses or if we eat too much junk food or maybe even pea soup?” LePage has a history of making controversial remarks. During his 2010 run for governor, the Tea Party-backed Republican turned heads at a GOP forum by vowing he would tell President Barack Obama to ...
Raila Odinga’s Journey To Nobel Peace Prize Begins Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s forays into major international assignments is gaining momentum, just a day before his scheduled visit to the USA , a letter congratulating him personally from US President Barack Obama is a pointer to a fast leap forward. It is a rare feat for Africa politicians to receive such message from the White House given the number of rogue leaders in the continent. In the letter Obama commended Odinga for his conduct during the post-election judicial review period. Odinga commands unrivaled world respect and is slated for major international assignments, to initiated by the United Nations Secretary General in days to come, the former PM is on target for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination, the letter from Obama seem to set Odinga for special recognition globally. Together with former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs Johnnie Carson, President Obama praised Hon. Odinga for accepting the verdict of the Supreme Court t ...
As usual, perpetual Republican apologist Dave Kearsley’s opinions are based on utter falsehoods. First, President Barack Obama is NOT “the product of Chicago-style politics” – which refers to the tactics of the political machine dominated by Mayor Richard C. Daley and which ended some 25 years ago. Rather, as Dave’s failed VP choice Sarah Palin noted, Obama was a “community organizer” – the antithesis of “Chicago-style politics”. Second, President Obama did not “attack the Supreme Court Justices . . . for their support of free speech in their Citizens United decision”, but – as a Constitutional Law professor – criticized the decision for relying on dubious legal precedent to equate money (a form of property) with “speech” and naively minimizing the adverse consequences of allowing unlimited anonymous personal and corporate contributions to dominate our elections. Third, the IRS did not “target the organizations protected by this decision”, but rather ineptly flagged gr ...

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz.—American Indian tribes have tried everything from banishment to charging criminal acts as civil offenses to deal with non-Indians who commit crimes on reservations. Ever since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1978 that tribal courts lack criminal jurisdiction over non-Indians, tribes have had to get creative in trying to hold that population accountable. They acknowledge, though, that those approaches aren't much of a deterrent, and say most crimes committed by non-Indians on tribal land go unpunished. Tribal leaders are hoping that will change, at least in part, with a federal bill signed into law Thursday. Gov. Jan Brewer says Arizona will expand Medicaid Last edited Mon Jan 14, 2013, 10:15 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Source: Deseret News PHOENIX — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said Monday that she plans to expand the state's Medicaid program to cover citizens who earn up to 133 percent of the poverty line. The Republican governor made the announcement in her annual State of the State speech in which she also outlined plans to boost funding for Child Protective Services and to push for the Legislature to reform the state's sales tax collection system this year. Brewer said the decision on Medicaid came in spite of her recent opposition to the federal Health Care law known as the Affordable Care Act. One provision in the law allows for states to increase the program with federal support. The governor cited President Barack Obama's re-election and last summer's U.S. Supreme Court ruling in saying that the law is here to stay. The Supreme Court did give states the option of not signing on to the expansion. But Br ...

In 2012, we all were given the opportunity to cast a ballot and say who we wanted in the White House whether it was the return of President Barack Obama or if we wanted Mitt Romney to become the 45th President of the United States. On that Tuesday in November, President Obama was reelected. There was something different about this campaign season. It was one that we hadn’t seen before. Not that the first African American President was seeking reelection, not that America had nominated it’s first Mormon candidate for President. It was the most expensive election in the country’s history.      Between each campaign, the Republican and Democratic National Committee and all the Super PACs, just over $2 billion had been spent. Imagine what you could do with $2 billion. How did it get this way? Why does it seem like the cost of an election goes up as if it’s being sold to the highest bidder? The Citizens United ruling by the Supreme Court in January of 2010 may have opened the flood gates some politi ...

Israel approves 90 new settler homes Israel has given final approval for 90 new settler homes in the occupied West Bank, driving another wedge into a rift with Washington ahead of a visit by US President Barack Obama. The homes will be built in Beit El, a major Jewish settlement north of Jerusalem, the defence ministry said. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged that 300 new dwellings will eventually be constructed in Beit El, despite a Supreme Court ruling that evicted 30 settler families from the area last June, saying they were living illegally on private Palestinian land. Are You Prepared to Survive ObamaCare? Warning: What You Don't Know About ObamaCare Could Hurt You . . . As an American, the ramifications of ObamaCare will soon hit you — whether you are retired or still working, unemployed or a business owner, robustly healthy or suffering from some pre-existing medical condition. For better or worse, the Supreme Court has ruled President Barack Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act constitutional; major provisions of the Act are set to start shortly. The only reasonable course of action now is to be prepared for the big changes coming, because these changes will hit ill-prepared Americans hard. These changes will not only affect how much your Health Insurance, medical treatment, and prescription drugs will cost you and your family . . . They will also affect the type and quality of healthcare you can expect to get in the near future. Shockingly, 40% of doctors plan to stop practicing clinical medicine under ObamaCare. Plus, with 30 million more Americans ...
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Illinois lawmakers began considering a measure on Wednesday that would make President Barack Obama's home state the 10th in the nation to legalize *** marriage. Supporters and opponents furiously lobbied lawmakers as a leading sponsor of the proposal pressed for a quick vote in the state Senate. The "lame duck" session is the final meeting before a newly elected legislature takes office later in January. Buoyed by November election referendum victories in Maryland, Maine and Washington state, supporters of *** marriage want to make Illinois the first Midwestern legislature to approve it. Iowa's Supreme Court legalized it in 2009. If approved, Illinois would be the second most populous state to allow *** marriage after New York. And now, a meeting with President Barack Obama in the Oval Office as we observe the 12th anniversary of the Olmstead decision. The Olmstead story began ...
Breaking from Newsmax.com Report: Obamacare a Good Deal for States States will receive more than $9 in federal money for every $1 they spend to cover low-income residents under President Barack Obama's Health Care law, according to a nonpartisan analysis released Monday. Expanding Medicaid to cover about 20 million more low-income people will cost over $1 trillion nationally from 2013 to 2022, said the joint report from the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Urban Institute. But the analysis found that states will pay just $76 billion of that, a combined share of roughly 7 percent. The feds will pay the other $952 billion. Well we should reconsider, for this is a truth that is well documented. KSBW news reported in October 2009 how most of the US presidents were genetically related, “A seventh-grader and her 80-year-old grandfather are allegedly the first people to discover that President Barack Obama is related to all other US presidents except one. Bridge Anne d'Avignon, who attends Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, traced that Obama, and all other US presidents except Martin Van Buren, are related to John "Lackland" Plantagenet, a king of England and signer of the Magna Carta. The student and her grandfather, who is a genealogist, spent this past summer designing the first known family tree chart in history that shows the presidents' direct relationships.” US Politicians serve a wider agenda as their salaries are paid for by the elite corporations, which finance the lobbying for them to be placed in power. We should also consider that the US Supreme Court has passed a law stating corporations have the same ...
Last night President Barack Obama, a Democrat, twice garnered 50% of the vote in his bid for POTUS. This feat has not happened since the election of FDR. This is the first election since the Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United and all the millions of dollars spent did not equal the will of the middle class. Attempts of voter suppression failed as Americans stood in long lines for hours to have their voices heard. Last night we learned that the right to vote is what makes American great and no party should stoop so low as to deny citizens their voting rights. For the first time in American history minority groups consisting of Hispanic Americans, African Americans, Asian Americans and women elected this President. The significant gender gap revealed that women do care about their economic and reproductive rights and will vote to protect them. Watching the people in the background at the Romney concession speech one could see mostly old white men. Their days are numbered. Romney's concession speech was ...
The Obama Administration has strongly supported Israel’s security by helping to construct the Iron Dome, by backing Israel’s responses to rocket attacks from Gaza and by coordinating closely with its military. Dershowitz with Obama in Oval Office Photo: Courtesy The case for the reelection of President Barack Obama is compelling for several important reasons. Let me begin with our future and the future of our children. The composition of the US Supreme Court over the next 30 years may be decided during the next four years. There are now three justices who will turn 80 and one who will be close to 80 during this coming presidential term. The remaining justices – including conservative Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito – are relatively young. Whoever is elected the next president may get to appoint as many as four justices in their 40s or 50s. These justices may well serve 30 or more years on the High Court, and if they are as reactionary as the current young justices, will form a ...

The Biggest Threat in an Obama Second Term There are many ways a second term for President Barack Obama threatens the rights of gun owners. He wants to bring back the 1994 semi-auto ban; his administration has already imposed an illegal registration scheme on certain rifle sales; and there is no way to know how far he would go to use his executive powers to curb our rights if he didn't have to face reelection. But without a doubt, the biggest threat would be his potential appointments to the Supreme Court, as highlighted in a new advertisement unveiled this week by the NRA Political Victory Fund. We already know the kind of jurists Obama will appoint. Even before joining the Supreme Court, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor proved their opposition to the most basic rights protected by the Second Amendment. But this past week, we had the opportunity to get a peek into the legal mind of another Supreme Court Justice who recently opposed our rights, and his comments tell us a great deal about what would happen ...

Why has the FBI not arrested and detained Willard's *** son in Cuba untill the Supreme Court can determine if he is safe to be walking around?

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- President Barack Obama's campaign is urging the U.S. Supreme Court not to consider an appeal in a dispute over early voting in the presidential battleground state of Ohio. Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO'-sted), a Republican, has appealed that ruling. He's also asked the Supreme Court to delay the lower court ruling while it decides whether to take the case. By Jonathan Stempel Fri Sep 28, 2012 1:31am EDT (Reuters) - Affirmative Action for minorities, Human Rights abuses and the constitutional authority for dogs to sniff out crime will top the U.S. Supreme Court's agenda when it returns to the bench on Monday. An even bigger issue, same-sex marriage, lurks on the horizon. The new term marks the full court's first return to the public eye since June when Chief Justice John Roberts surprised many by joining four more liberal justices in a 5-4 decision that upheld nearly all of President Barack Obama's healthcare law. The court will start with one of its most anticipated cases, Kiobel v. Royal Dutch Petroleum, and address for the second time the extent to which American judges are empowered to hear lawsuits over Human Rights atrocities abroad. On October 10, it will hear perhaps the biggest case on the docket so far, Fisher v. September 24, 2012 | Dan Rodricks Soon after President Barack Obama's inauguration, "I want my country back!" became the shrill battle cry of the Tea Party. Garrett Epps, a legal scholar based at the University of Baltimore, has a battle cry of his own: "I want my Constitution back!" Epps believes the Tea Party and the politicians it supports are among the collaborators in extravagant myth-making about the law of the land, and the movement has gone from the fringe to the conservative mainstream to the Supreme Court. Right-wing "patriots," libertarian think tanks, members of Congress and Fox News are all engaged in using twisted and false interpretations of the Constitution to advance an anti-government, even anti-electorate agenda. It's wrong and it's dangerous, Epps says. Thus the title of his book: "Wrong and Dangerous: Ten Right-Wing Myths About Our Constitution," just published by Rowland & Littlefield. Anyone miss that 'Bama Slamma interview on 60 minutes? Here are SOME of the highlights: “US President Barack Obama says Israel’s call for drawing red line over Iran’s nuclear energy program is just ‘noise’ he tries to ignore.” When asked about the events in Libya resulting in the killing of 4 Americans, our fearless leader described it as "bumps in the road." When asked about his responsibilities, Obama answered, "Oh, I think that, you know, as president I bear responsibility for everything, to some degree, and." Best of all, as we all know by now, the Supreme Court allowed Obama care to sneak through because the individual mandate was ruled "A TAX," it was great to see our slithering serpent of a president say, when asked about Obamacare, "I haven't raised taxes." Is anyone looking at the facts out there? If you're watching ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, reading the New York Times or Washington Post, and you actually care at all about the FACTS, you are getting scammed. Mass Media is acting like ...
Closing arguments in the case — which went to trial in August and included several state officials as witnesses — were scheduled for Monday. South Carolina has said it would implement the law immediately if the three-judge panel upholds it, although a decision either way is likely to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Tougher state voter registration and identification laws could factor into this year’s election as voters divide along racial lines behind President Barack Obama or GOP nominee Mitt Romney in the presidential contest. About 90 percent of African-Americans and some 64 percent of Hispanic registered voters support Obama, according to the most recent Gallup three-week tracking poll. (Aug 20-Sept. 9). Karl Christian Rove is the reincarnation of Adolph Hitler. He and George W. Bush have significantly influenced the Supreme Court, and have turned it into a Republican political institution that is bias toward corporate wealth and power. The Citizen United Supreme Court decision by the John G. Roberts court was a direct reflection of Rove and Bush's influences. Since Citizen United passed into law of the land--Rove has developed and unleashed his corrupt syndicate of corporate power and wealth. His objectives are to buy politicians and our government, to destroy the middle-class and democracy, and to suppress voting rights. We much get out the vote for President Barack Obama, and stop the Republican mass destruction of democracy and American as we know it.
Kansas officials plan to hold a hearing Thursday afternoon to weigh whether President Barack Obama is a citizen and should appear on the state's November ballot. The Kansas Objections Board will be considering a challenge filed by Joe Montgomery, a Manhattan resident, who Monday objected to Obama being on the ballot. He claims the president is not an American citizen since his father was a citizen of the United Kingdom and Kenya. The all-Republican board -- which consists of Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Lt. Gov. Jeff Colyer and Attorney General Derek Schmidt -- has the power to remove Obama from the ballot in his mother's home state. Montgomery, the communications coordinator for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University, said in his filing that he does not believe Obama meets the criteria for citizenship because of his father's citizenship. He cites several Supreme Court rulings in the filing, which he says validate his argument. In the filing, Montgomery said that the rulings show ...
House Considers If Obama’s Actions on HHS Mandate, Fast and Furious, Recess Appoints Constitutes Abuse of Power Posted on September 13, 2012 by Cowboy Byte Citing use of executive privilege to withhold information from Congress, using end runs around Congress on issues of immigration and appointment and violating religious freedom, Congressional Republicans and constitutional experts said President Barack Obama has abused his power. “President Obama has treated the Constitution’s separation of powers as if it were a matter of convenience that may be ignored when it gets in his way,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), a former constitutional attorney and Supreme Court clerk, said in his testimony to the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday. “Rather than cooperating with Congress or respecting the Constitution’s separation of powers, he has in many instances chosen to go it alone and in the process has exceeded the proper bounds of executive power,” he said. 56 20 5 Continue Reading on cnsnews.com This en ...
In a June 25, 2003 interview with the Chicago Defender, an urban newspaper serving the city’s African-American community, President Barack Obama praised the U.S. Supreme Court for preserving the practice of Affirmative Action in U.S. university admissions.
Gov. Jan Brewer speaks to the media after arguments at the U.S. Supreme Court, April 25, 2012, in Washington, … A group of young illegal immigrants in Phoenix was preparing for a rally on Wednesday evening to celebrate the first day they were allowed to apply for relief from deportation and a two-year work permit under President Barack Obama's deferred action plan. But a half-hour before the 5 p.m. rally was to begin, a young member of the Arizona Dream Act Coalition started crying. "Guys, we have really bad news," she said, according to another activist, Erika Andiola, who was there. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer had released a strongly worded executive order preventing deferred action recipients from obtaining driver's licenses or any other unspecified "public benefits" in her state, renewing her public spat with the White House over illegal immigration. The celebration stopped. Instead, Andiola and 100 other people turned their rally into a march to the Capitol to protest the move, and about 30 people stay ...
A look at where Democratic President Barack Obama and Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney stand on a selection of issues -- Associated Press: 1.ABORTION & BIRTH CONTROL OBAMA: Supports abortion rights. Health Care law requires contraceptives to be available for free for women enrolled in workplace health plans. ROMNEY: Opposes abortion rights. Previously supported them. Says state law should guide abortion rights, and Roe v. Wade should be reversed by a future Supreme Court ruling. Said he would end federal aid to Planned Parenthood. 2.WAR OBAMA: Ended the Iraq War, increased U.S. troop presence in Afghanistan then began drawing down the force with a plan to have all out by the end of 2014. Approved U.S. air power in NATO-led campaign that helped Libyan opposition topple government. Major cuts coming in the size of the Army and Marine Corps as part of agreement with Congressional Republicans to cut $487 billion in military spending over a decade. ROMNEY: Endorses 2014 end to U.S. combat in Afghani ...
While the left demands a "separation" of church and state when it comes to any connection to Christianity, the head of the Democratic Party espouses a much different view regarding communion with Islam. John Jay, the first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, appointed by George Washington himself, said, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest, of a Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." Two hundred years later, President Barack Obama denied America's rich Judeo-Christian heritage, as he publicly declared in Turkey on April 6, 2009, "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation." Speaking in Cairo, June 2009, President Obama vowed to establish "a new beginning between the United States and Muslims." He continued: "I have known Islam on three continents before coming to the region where it was first revealed. That experience guides my conviction that partnership between America and Islam mu ...

President Barack Obama: "Today is the three year anniversary of Sonia Sotomayor taking her seat on the Supreme Court. Yesterday was the two-year anniversary of Elena Kagan taking her seat on the Supreme Court. So, let's be very clear, the next president could tip the balance of the court in a way that turns back the clock for women and families for decades to come." When he’s right, he’s right.

- Written by: Frank Nunziato In response to June's U.S. Supreme Court decision on Health Care and in particular the issue of the Health and Human Services mandate, President Barack Obama's stance not only is against the Catholic Church, but it also is against religious freedom. The media (with a little influence) made this about the Catholic Church's doctrine on birth control and abortion because the Catholic Church has the most to lose. Our president used this issue because he knows that even among Catholics it is a hot-button issue. A lot of Catholic women use birth control and support the right to choose. So, with that in mind, our president figured this is a good way to destroy the Catholic Church in this country. Let's examine the First Amendment. The amendment prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion or impeding the free exercise of religion. There's more, but it's irrelevant to this argument. Now, let's examine the bill: All institutions will have to cover birth contr ...
States which have expanded Medicaid have lower mortality rates than states which have not, on average 6%. This is in part because of preventive health services, especially among the elderly. The Obama Affordable Care Act expands Medicaid. Can we really NOT afford to expand Health Care services? This is the article in the Wall Street Journal. DEATH RATES VARY IN MEDICAID STUDY by Jennifer Corbett Dooren States that opted for larger Medicaid programs had lower death rates, according to a study released Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine. The findings come as states struggle with the growing financial burden of the health-insurance program for the poor, and weigh whether to take part in its expansion under President Barack Obama's health-care law. Last month, the Supreme Court upheld most of the law, but said the government can't punish states that decline to expand their Medicaid programs in 2014. The law called for expansion as a way of covering more uninsured low-income adults. Medicaid, ...

President Barack Obama 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC 20500 Dear President Obama: Your administration's decision to suspend 287(g) agreements with the state of Arizona is outrageous! Even the Supreme Court acknowledged the threat illegal immigration has on Arizona's communities. Why does your administration continue to put illegal aliens ahead of Americans? The Supreme Court decided unanimously that Arizona has the right to inquire about the immigration status of individuals its police officers lawfully stop and suspect to be unlawfully present. Instead of accepting your defeat with humility and grace, you've decided to do your best fight the ruling and make life *** Arizona. Is this the kind of White House and administration you want to be known for running? One that either wins or kicks over the table? Your decision to suspend 287(g) cooperation with Arizona will put Americans out of work and will put American lives at risk. Did you think this through? Do you even care? What gives you and ...

from "What the Supreme Court's Ruling Means for Consumers" By Louise Radnofsky | The Wall Street Journal – Thu, Jun 28, 2012 11:42 AM EDT Q: Does this mean the health overhaul law is in place for good? A: The decision effectively upholds the law for now, but its future depends on which party controls the White House and Congress after elections in November. President Barack Obama and most Democrats consider the law a signature achievement and want to move forward implementing it. Republicans, including presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have pledged to overturn it. They say they would offer an alternative proposal but haven't been specific about what it would include.
From the AP: Reminders of the Republican presidential candidate's signature achievement as Massachusetts governor — a sweeping state Health Care overhaul — now are everywhere. And Democrats and liberals — from Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to President Barack Obama to party faithful in Congress — are making sure everyone knows that Romney's requirement that all people have Health Insurance was the basis of the federal mandate that the Supreme Court just upheld as a tax. "Congress followed Massachusetts' lead," Ginsburg wrote in the landmark decision. By design or not, she ended up giving Democrats ammunition against Romney. Romney has spent much of the presidential campaign shying away from talking about the law he signed as governor and that Obama used as a blueprint for his national Health Care plan. Both measures require individuals to have Health Insurance, mandate that businesses offer healthcare to their employees and provide subsidies or exemptions for people who can't afford it. Both laws al ...
This month, Democratic President Barack Obama's re-election campaign asked the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to force Crossroads GPS, a tax-exempt group founded by former George W. Bush adviser Karl Rove, to register as a PAC and disclose its donors. Funny, these IRS inquiries never seem to go after liberal groups. Isn’t that amazing. The real problem here is our tax code and our tax agency. How many times have we Republicans promise to make April 15 just another day on the calendar? With the Supreme Court deciding that Obamacare is actually a tax, Americans are outraged that we are seeing the largest tax increase in the history of America.
I am so sick and tired of people listening to sound bites and not educating themselves regarding the issues. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Most Americans oppose President Barack Obama's healthcare reform even though they strongly support most of its provisions, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Sunday, with the Supreme Court set to rule within days on whether the law should stand. As Sam Donaldson, a longtime newsman, said on a local radio talk show today, people are against the law because someone told them to not like it, instead of researching the plan themselves, or fact checking. I'm also sick and tired of the politics going on in Washington DC - if a Democrat likes it, the Republicans automatically vote against it, and visa versa. Just look at the vote to hold US Attorney General Holder in contempt of Congress today - what a joke.
WASHINGTON -- For a brief period of time on Thursday morning, President Barack Obama was operating under the impression that a portion of his signature Health Care law had been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Top administration officials, briefing reporters, said that the president initially saw news alerts that the court had ruled the individual mandate unconstitutional while watching coverage in the outer Oval Office. The news was being projected on a single monitor with four split screens, each showing a different station. Both Fox News and CNN inaccurately reported the court's decision at first. *O dumber than a brick . . . After a period of time, White House Counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and Chief of Staff Jacob Lew came to greet the president with news of the actual ruling. Ruemmler flashed him two thumbs up. The court, she relayed, had upheld the Affordable Care Act by a 5 to 4 vote, ruling the individual mandate valid under Congress' taxing power.
Today’s decision on The Affordable Health Care Act by the Supreme Court is a vindication of President Barack Obama and a slam in the faces of Republicans who offer no alternative to this country’s broken Health Care system. A choice between bankruptcy or death is no choice at all. Health Care that’s affordable to only the rich and the healthy is a dark and shameful blotch on the greatest country on earth. Mitt Romney offers no solution. Texas Governor Rick Perry certainly doesn’t, and Texas Senator John Cornyn used the desperately needed Health Care of Americans to score political points. Cornyn’s use of today’s Supreme Court’s decision to call for his own reelection and the defeat of President Obama is pandering at its worst and exactly why Americans are tired of the Republican lockstep obsessive hatred of President Obama and Democrats. Rick Perry called the court’s decision "a punch to the stomach." Rick Perry should know about stomach punches after subjecting Texans to unneeded cuts to ...

Thursday's Supreme Court ruling upholding President Barack Obama's signature legislation Health Care legislation effectively cements the cornerstone of his political legacy, observers said."This would be in the first paragraph of Barack Obama's summation of his presidency,""I think President Obama is now in very good stead to say, 'I passed the Affordable Care Act, I got Osama bin Laden, and I saved General Motors," said Brinkley, referring also to the raid that killed the al Qaeda leader and Obama's backing of the automobile industry bailout. "He has three real historic accomplishments."

MAYBE… by Tony Rasile, June 12, 2012 Well, I guess I was right. That’s a shame. In 2008, a friend of mine was enraptured with Candidate Obama. He prayed mightily that Barack Hussein Obama would win the White House. At the time I told him, “God help us” if he does. The rest is history. Sadly, though I knew President Obama would damage our country, I just didn’t know how right I was. Today, we have Candidate Romney. Given his history, I’m not sure he is the man for the job, though I will still vote for him over the assured destruction another four years of President Barack Hussein Obama would bring to our United States of America. Of course, maybe the Supreme Court will overturn ObamaCare. Maybe Europe won’t implode. Maybe the Middle East will destroy itself through civil war between the Sunni and Shiites. Maybe we’ll finally get to drill in all those areas of our country where we are currently disallowed. Maybe the various countries on the African continent will give up the pract ...
Barboza 3 years after President Barack Obama selected Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court, her tale still inspires:
Barack Obama shared the following link and had this to say about it: Three years after President Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, her story still inspires.
President Barack Obama has again threatened the Supreme Court over ObamaCare - this time indicating that if the Court does not rule his way, he will take his revenge on senior citizens by destroying Medicare. Martha McCallum of Fox News reports that the "Administration has been sending 'missives' to the Supreme Court threatening that if it doesn't rule in Obama's favor on the healthcare law; Medicare will face disruption and 'Chaos.' Apparently, should the Supreme Court fail to submit to Obama's demands, and rather chooses to rule in favor of the Constitution, Obama & Co will begin a campaign to destroy Medicare Payments to doctors and hospitals. This isn't the first time Barack has threatened the court over ObamaCare. In Obama's first threat to the Supremes, he condemned the Justices by stating that it was "Unprecedented" for an "Unelected group of people" to overturn a law that was passed by a "Strong majority" of Congress. The 5th Circuit Court later admonished the Justice Dept. for those statements. W ...
If you have any doubts that Obama will be sent packing from the White House in November, then cast your eyes at this list of reasons Barack Obama will be a one-term president. 1. Jobs, jobs, jobs While the official unemployment rate has inched down to close to 8 percent, that number would be much higher if all the discouraged job hunters who stopped looking for work were included. Obama’s record as a job creator is dismal, because the basic tenets of his economic ideology are woefully misguided. Government doesn’t create jobs, it just gets in the way of companies that can. 2. Health Care showdown With the Supreme Court readying its decision on the president’s signature initiative, the Affordable Care Act will be front and center right as the campaign is heating up. No matter how the court rules, the nation will be reminded of the highly unpopular Health Care overhaul that was enacted with legislative bribes, using arcane congressional rules, and without a shred of bipartisanship. 3. Immigration show ...
First Thoughts On The New Unity Government Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s surprise unity government deal with Kadima leader Shaul Mofaz has reasonably triggered mass speculation regarding the premier’s ulterior motives. The first question is whether or not this move was somehow motivated by Netanyahu’s plans for contending with Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It is hard to see how the formation of the unity government will impact Netanyahu’s policy options on that score. If the elections had been carried out in September, as we thought, Netanyahu would certainly have been reelected. US President Barack Obama, concerned about his foreign policy bona fides and the Jewish vote on the eve of his reelection bid, would have been unable to undermine Netanyahu on Iran or just about anything else. So from Netanyahu’s perspective, a September election date immunized him from White House pressure. True, Mofaz has been parroting former Mossad chief Meir Dagan’s attacks on Netanyahu, but those criti ...
Unlike President Abraham Lincoln, signing the Emancipation Proclamation only after a Union victory on the battlefield (and then only emancipating slaves in certain states), President Barack Obama chose to publicly declare his belief that equality under the law -- the freedom to choose, Free Will, free expression of belief -- is paramount to anyone's personal beliefs, religious or otherwise. He did it after a monumental defeat for the US Constitution, in the form of a voter referendum in North Carolina, through which fellow human beings declared they were superior to me, and to others like me, who happen to be very much in love with someone of the same gender. LGBT individuals -- or those of ANY letter whatsoever -- are entitled to equal protection of the law under the United States Constitution. I'm proud I voted for the first President to say so, in public. But then, he's had the steel to call out the US Supreme Court for "Citizens United". He called out (R) Paul Ryan -- to his face -- for a "Path to Pro ...

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Monday declined to agree or disagree with a woman that told him that President Barack Obama should be tried for treason, an offense punishable by death.
It appears that the former president and the House have been able to pass legislation that shifts the battlefields against terrorism, al-Qaida and the Taliban from Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen to the United States and its citizenry. After President Bush declared war on "terrorism," the Supreme Court ruled that, in addition to Osama bin Laden, American citizens can be treated as enemy combatants. Next came National Defense Authorization Act, introduced on April 13, 2011, sponsored by Rep. Howard McKeon, R-Calif., and Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., which passed the House and Senate. The NDAA authorizes the president and the military to arrest Americans without charge, counsel or trial, and detain them for an indefinite periods if the military claims they are terrorists. This bill could be likened to the Salem witch trials, which arrested and detained fellow citizens accused as being witches. During House and Senate deliberations of the NDAA, President Barack Obama threatened to veto it but later signed ...
What's the big surprise? Every single one of the Chrysler dealers Obama eliminated in the "reorganization" had given campaign contributions to McCain (OK one gave to Clinton)! Obama Campaign Tries to Intimidate Romney Donors Friday, 27 Apr 2012 03:36 PM By Henry J. Reske President Barack Obama's re-election campaign is publicly identifying donors to Mitt Romney’s bid to unseat him in a move designed to intimidate, revealing the names on a website, Wall Street Journal columnist Kimberley Strassel reported. Strassel writes that in the last week, the Obama campaign posted on a website an item titled, "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors." “In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent,” she said. "Describing the givers as all having ‘less-than-reputable records,’ the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that ‘quite a few’ have also been ‘on the wrong side of the law’ and profiting at ‘the expense o ...
