My weekly column on Srinivasan and cricket. Right Angle November 27, 2014 Politics-Business nexus in Cricket Prakash Nanda As I write this, the Supreme Court of India is hearing an important case relating to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and its ‘suspended” president N Srinivasan, who also happens to be the chairman of newly created International Cricket Council (ICC) that governs the world Cricket. Srinivasan has been barred by the Supreme Court from carrying out his duties as BCCI President due to ongoing investigations into the match-fixing allegations relating to the 2013 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) – the shorter 20-over format of the game played among privately owned outfits in India, each of whom is allowed to auction leading players from all over the world. But then, for Srinivasan, who is one of India’s richest and influential businessmen as well, court-cases have never been dampeners. Both as a businessman and sports administrator, he has been ruthlessly sin ...

THE NANAVATI COMMISSION: ANOTHER HOAX ON THE PEOPLE OF INDIA Fr. Cedric Prakash sj Finally, yesterday (November 18th 2014), exactly 12 years 8 months and 12 days after it was first constituted by the Gujarat Government on March 6th 2002 to probe the burning of the Godhra train and the subsequent carnage which broke out in several parts of Gujarat, the Commission headed by G.T Nanavati (a former judge of the Supreme Court of India) submitted its report to the current Chief Minister of Gujarat, Anandiben Patel. It was originally known as the K.G. Shah Commission but it was later reconstituted to include Justice Nanavati, after several civil rights groups and individuals protested over the closeness that Justice Shah had with Narendra Modi. Justice Shah died in 2008; and Justice Akshay H. Mehta (who granted bail to Babu Bajrangi in the Naroda Patiya case) was appointed on 5th April 2008 to be a member of this Commission. The content of this more than 2000-page report has not yet been made public but if one g ...
If the latest guideline of Supreme Court is to be followed, the entire list of black money account holders should be out by the early hours of October 29. The Apex Court has ordered the Narendra Modi-led Central Government to reveal the entire list of perpetrators who are guilty of stocking up unaccounted sums of money. A day after the government revealed the names of Pradeep Burman (Promoter of Dabur India), Pankaj Chimanlal Lodhiya (Rajkot-based bullion trader), Radha Satish Timblo (Director of Goa-based mining company Timblo Pvt. Ltd), the SC lashed out the government to give the complete list of the black money holders to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and the court too. Any predictions before the list come out tomorrow; please mention in the comment section below! The long list of tax violators have been demanded by the SC and list has come up through a social messaging app ‘WhatsApp’ which reads that Wikileaks has leaked secret information which contains names of 20 politicians who have a ...

Narendra Modi gets HC notice in Varanasi poll case IndiaToday.in, July 18, 2014 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a setback, with the Allahabad High Court on Friday issuing a notice to him on a petition of Congress MLA Ajay Rai, who has challenged his election from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Justice VK Shukla, while passing the order on the election petition of Rai, who had contested as the party's candidate from Varanasi, fixed September 5 as the next date of hearing in the matter. Rai has alleged in his affidavit that Modi had left blank columns relating to his wife Jashodaben's PAN card details and her income, which violated Supreme Court's directions. Rai has also alleged that though the Election Commission had laid down that a candidate in a Lok Sabha poll must not spend more than Rs 70 lakh during electioneering, crores of rupees were spent during Modi's campaign. He has also alleged that T-shirts and caps bearing Modi's name and image were distributed among the pe ...

Theatre of the absurd to deny Modi a US visa, move by four US Congressmen to deny Narendra Modi a US visa is a disrespect to India's free and fair ballot and even its Supreme Court: Aseem Shukla. Four legislators stood at a podium on another unseasonably warm December day in the shadows of Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. Sombre and stern, they took turns delivering blistering monologues into microphones that outnumbered the stray staffer milling about. As America's attention sits riveted on a lame duck US Congress that should be consumed with the fiscal cliff, four Congressmen had time for this -- a theatre of the absurd. Absurd, because the calumny they heaped were on a democratically elected leader thousands of miles away, Narendra Modi, over a visa to the United States that he covets not. Absurd, because at issue is a tragedy ten years passed over which dozens have been sentenced and held accountable, but the Indian Supreme Court's Special Investigative Team absolved Modi of guilt. And absurd, because ...

EDIT 22MAY2014 Searing Indictment by Supreme Court Guard against framing of the innocent by the police On 16 May , the Supreme Court set aside a judgment of the Gujarat High Court and its preceding POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) Special Court to acquit six people who, the Court found, had been framed by the Gujarat Police's Crime Branch for the 2002 attack on the Akshardham Temple. It is sheer irony that it now falls to Narendra Modi, the then-Gujarat Home Minister who, according to the Court, sanctioned the prosecution without applying his mind, to ensure, in his capacity as the new Prime Minister of the land, that such miscarriage of justice is penalised and prevented. Facile prosecutions in terror cases wreck innocent lives and deracinate the constitutional promise of secularism and fairness. The judiciary and the executive must work in tandem to ensure that such miscarriage of justice never takes place again. The Akshardham attack killed 33 people and grievously injured 86 others. While the terror ...

My Review on Election Campaign at Large:- • Setting Agenda of Election:- From the very first day, when Narendra Modi declared as the Chair Person of Election Campaign committee, Congress started arguing that he is communal. Since very first day they were telling that the BJP is polarizing the election by projecting Modi. Now, what is truth? That the Supreme Court has given clean chit to Modi and there is not a single charge on him. So, they find completely wrong in this. In the campaign, Modi did not talk about so and so person and so and so religion, he always talked about 125 crore Indian. In number of interviews, he gave repeated answers to same question that his idea of Nation is “Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat.” Now, on this point Congress continuously targeted Modi (only one target for them) that he is doing the politics of fear with minority where as Modi has never biased to any one by dividing people. So, this allegation of Congress was also completely wrong. And when you are talking about genera ...

NARENDRA MODI IS TALLEST OF ALL LEADERS. WE WITH HEART CONGRATULATE NARENDRA MODI FOR HIS HARD WORK.

Ex Home Minister of Gujarat and often referred to as the right hand-man of Narendra Modi, Amit Shah has been banned by Election Commission from campaigning in UP for giving hate speeches that might instigate communal feelings. Earlier, Supreme Court had directed that he may not enter his home state of Gujarat where he may influence the investigations of the encounter killings in which he was involved as Home Minister under the Modi Government. Amit Shah had also ordered Gujarat Police officers to stalk a girl from Gujarat on orders from a "Saheb". What kind of Governance would such people give? The transcript of the interview follows: NARENDRA MODI Vs KARAN THAPPAR ! Karan Thapar: Mr Narendra Modi, let’s start by talking about you. In the six years that you have been the CM of Gujarat, the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation has declared Gujarat to be the best administered state. India Today, on two separate occasions, declared that you are the most efficient Chief Minister. And despite that people still call you to your face a mass murderer and they accuse you of being prejudiced against Muslims' Do you have an image problem' Narendra Modi: I think it’s not proper to say that (there are) people. There are two or three persons who talk in this terminology and I always say God bless them. Q: You are saying this is the conspiracy of two or three persons only' Modi: I have not said so. Q: But you are saying it’s only two or three people. Modi: This is the information I have. It’s the people’s voice. Q: Can I point out to you that in September 2003, the Supreme Court said that they had lost faith in t ...
Oh, and Narendra Modi didn't get a "clean chit" from the SIT about the Godhra massacre. Far from it. It's strange how BJP lovers seem to parrot the line that "Modi got a clean chit". Here are the facts. Again, you can choose to interpret them as you wish. My sense is "clean chit" is not the phrase you'll use at the end of it. I am borrowing here from "and other sources. All of this is verifiable from numerous sources. 1. The reality is not a declaration of innocence - but the SIT let the case drop because of a ‘lack of prosecutorial evidence’. And in doing so it deliberately neglected to take into account numerous depositions against Modi. 2. BJP's own Cabinet Minister, Haren Pandya who disclosed that Modi ordered police officials to refrain from stopping the Hindu backlash, was mysteriously murdered mere months after his disclosure. 3. The SIT refused to take Pandya's statement into account post his death, despite a High Court judge (Justice Hosbet Suresh) and a Supreme Court judge (Justice PB Sawant ...
NARENDRA MODI Narendra Damodardas Mulchand Modi(63), as a child, helped his father sell tea at the Vadnagar railway station and on trains. As a teenager, he ran a tea stall with his brother near a bus terminus. He joined RSS in 1970 and completed his master's degree in Political Science from Gujarat University. He first became Chief Minister of Gujarat in October 2001 and is currently serving his fourth consecutive term as Chief Minister. One of the defining moments of Modi's career was in 2002, shortly after he became Gujarat's Chief Minister, when more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, were killed in mob violence in the state. In April 2009, the Supreme Court of India appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into the Gujarat Government and Narendra Modi's role in the incidents of communal violence. The SIT reported to the court in December 2010 submitting that they did not find any incriminating evidence against Modi of willfully allowing communal violence in the state. An analysis of 68 ...
Narendra Modi..Narendra Modi For PM... 12 reasons for Modi; what could even make him the best Prime Minister that India has ever seen. I haven’t seen leader-material better than Modi in Indian politics since my childhood; and elders do say that post Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, India has not witnessed a leader who can speak as assertively and as clearly as Modi does! Personally, I am tired of spineless leaders representing the country and would love to see a leader who can stand up to world leaders and make them take note of India. Modi’s vision of growth is what India needs. Gujarat may not be the role model, but Modi is growth focussed, and such economic growth – rather than populist doles like free water and electricity – can take care of all our ills, and can equip people to make them independent. Modi may have seen an unfortunate riot happening during the initial part of his reign, and the Supreme Court may have correctly or incorrectly given him a clean chit, but the fact as they say is that the ...
So supreme court blames UP government led by Samajwadi Party of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh for total failure in controlling Muzzafarnagar riots !! This *** so called " secular " parties like SP,congress,BSP,RJD etc etc cannot control communal riots even in a small town - and they call BJP communal when Narendra Modi managed to control riots in an entire state in just 3 days !! Classic Example of Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Daate !! By d way , all people named in SIT report are from BSP, Congress , SP , not a single person from BJP !! So will now , the nexus of journalists like Rajdeep Sardesai,Barkha Dutt, Karan Thapar etc etc and their channels ask resignation of Akhilesh Yadav and target him the way they have been targetting Narendra Modi over 2002 riots for the past 12 years ?

EC must be Worried If Congmen led by Rahul - Khurshid - Zakia may Suffer Hysteria in May'14 heat on 2002 riots ?.Salman Khurshid suffering from hypothermia did it yet again after he recently called BJP Prime Ministerial Candidate 'impotent'. He has once again taken a personal dig at Narendra Modi and this time around he not only accused Modi for the 2002 Gujarat riots but also went ahead and compared him to a nursery student.Khurshid in the line of his leader Rahul has decided to raise heat on Narendra Modi, anticipating a possible huge defeat, even an unprecedented wipe out in election 2014. .INDIA HONEST questions the argument of Congress and its leader, how they are blaming and challenging the validity of a verdict of a SIT constituted and monitored by the Supreme Court, on flimsy technical matters that the court ignored the SC guidelines and did not act upon the signed statement of .IH suggests the special medical teams must be allowed to accompany such leaders to safe guard their health by the Elec .. ...
I think the people of Gujarat are stupid because they elected a "mass murderer" 2 times as their Chief Minister post the riots. For some reason many of my law school elite can't respect the Supreme Court of India too when it comes to Modi's clean chit. So the Supreme Court and people of Gujarat have lost their mind? No one is asking anyone to move on. If the SIT report which was accepted by the Supreme Court doesn't find Narendra Modi as a conspirator to the 2002 riots, I honestly think the court is saying in simple words, "Hi, if a man is not convicted, he is innocent". We like people like Rahul Gandhi because he doesn't have a vision for the country. We want to vote for a person who's never been accused of anything. But the truth is good people are always accused of doing things when they aren't. Respect the system of justice. If all else fails, we know that you'll now link him to the Ambanis. Goodluck. Here's a little message. He's winning. Not Rahul. Modi.

Simultaneously attacking the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the Congress-dominated UPA for failing to improve the lives of the people despite two successive mandates, Narendra Modi lashed out at the Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid for denigrating the Supreme Court and the Election Commission on the eve of elections while in London, and said that the Indian National Congress is an Institutions Neglecting Congress. Accusing his principal rival of destroying all constitutional institutions by a policy of “misuse, abuse, reduce (stature)”, the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate directly charged the Prime Minister, “You are responsible for this; two national institutions have been attacked abroad.” Addressing the BJP’s ‘Vijay Sankalp Samabesh Rally’ at Sambalpur on Friday, Narendra Modi said that India is the world’s largest democracy and nowhere in the world, free and fair elections are conducted with such speed and results are c ...
Narendra Modi attacks Salman Khurshid over remarks against Supreme Court and Election Commission Sambalpur: Narendra Modi today tore into Salman Khurshid over his remarks against the Supreme Court and Election Commission, saying it amounted to "destruction" of institutions. He said Congress leaders have already started searching for excuses for a "certain" defeat. In his second rally in Odisha, Mr Modi's tone towards Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik softened and he did not go after the BJD leader, who has since distanced his party from the Third Front, with the same vigour as he had done in his first address at Bhubaneswar. He condemned External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid's remarks in London in which he had criticised Election Commission and Supreme Court and said he used a foreign land to target the country's two respected institutions. "I wonder which country he represents. He has gone to London to abuse the EC. He has destroyed its reputation. They (Congress) are looking for excuses for their certai ...
AGENDA 3: Lawyers Protection ACT All of you know that lawyers had a great role in the Freedom Struggle but despite this no one has thought of addressing problems of the lawyers for such a long time. However, it is for the first time that Mr. Ram Jethmalani, Senior Advocate, former President of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), M.P. (Rajya Sabha) patron of National Council for Advocates’ Welfare (NCAW) has decided to take up the cause of the common lawyer before Mr. Narendra Modi who is considered to be a person with commitment. The Government is the biggest litigant and maximum cases are filed against/ or by the Government. Therefore, it is essential that not only the panel fees should be increased but every panel lawyer must be assisted by a junior lawyer whose fee should be paid separately by the Government so as to ensure disposal of case expeditiously. There is a need for framing Lawyers Protection Act which must ensure welfare policies for the lawyers including revision of professional fees ...

Narendra Modi sold 10,000 acres of Farmers land in gujarat to Adani Ports at rupees 1 per acre, whereas the market rate per acre was 15,000 rupees. This caused a huge loss of 2 lakh crore to the people. This resulted in farmers committing sucide and in the year 2012 alone 789 farmers committed suicide . An private hospital controled by the Adani ports group gave away death certificates saying Death caused due to Accident and other natural calamities. Adani group and Reliance industries are controlling gujarat. If this is the case Modi will sell the indian government to Industries and the people will be slaves under these conglomerates. The same goes to J.Jayalalitha who is slowly selling the Tamil Nadu government to Industires. India will be safe in Modi's hands : Dr S Nambi Narayanan 'My wife was asked to get out of an autorickshaw because she was married to me. My children were targeted and branded a traitor's children.' 'In spite of the Supreme Court and the NHRC having cleared my case, the state government is yet to close it. Local politicians are behind this. Why can't they close the case, give me compensation, accepting gracefully that they have wronged me?' Dr S Nambi Narayanan, the scientist who was accused and then exonerated in the 1994 ISRO spying case, speaks to Rediff.com's Shobha Warrier about his continuing travails and his recent meeting with Narendra Modi. The Mad Hatter’s ball begins: Pritish Nandy, The strangest things happen at election time. Anna Hazare has dumped his favourite acolyte Arvind Kejriwal and endorsed Mamata instead. So has Imam Bukhari. This has pitchforked her onto the national stage as a likely third front candidate for The Big Job. Salman Khan was last seen flying kites with Narendra Modi in Ahmedabad. Modi fans pitch this as a clear sign that Muslims are no longer averse to their leader. At least Bollywood’s poster boy is not. Nor is the original AYM, who is no longer so young nor so angry. He is Gujarat’s most hardworking salesman. Not to be left behind, the ageing disco dancer has dumped his leftist allies and become Didi’s MP. While the bejewelled fat man who scored the disco number is now singing ditties to Didi’s bête noire. In the midst of all this, Amma has gone for the big kill. She has decided to set Rajiv’s assassins free, now that the Supreme Court has spared them the gallows. The freak shows on the side are as ...

Today I would like to express my feelings about certain politicians whom you may call turncoat and who can sacrifice any value for selfish motives. You may not agree but this piece will force you to ponder over. First: paranoid SharadPawar, who a few weeks back appreciated Narendra Modi's Development policies but now a sharp u-turn and calling it simply propaganda. Please remember, he is the agriculture minister who did not abide by Supreme Court order to distribute food grains among needy. He is the person who brought his daughter and other family members in politics whose performances are open for discussion. He is cherishing desire to lead the country. Second; Maverick Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayavati. Both have no thoughts, no directions and do not know proper selection of words to express. They are resting under umbrella of their respective caste. Third: rustic Raj Thakare of MNS. he is surviving on hate politics and always spewing venom against Biharis and North Indian in general. But I am wonder st ...

SC notice to Amit Shah on Sohrabuddin ‘encounter’ PTI | New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday issued notices to Narendra Modi's close aide Amit Shah and other accused in the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh alleged fake encounter case on the plea of CBI seeking transfer of certain documents from Gujarat to a Maharashtra court. "Issue notice to respondents returnable within four weeks," a bench of justices Ranjana Prakash Desai and Madan B Lokur said. Shah was arrested by CBI on July 25, 2010 in connection with the case and had spent over three months in Sabarmati Jail in Ahmedabad before being granted bail. Besides Shah, suspended DIG DG Banjara, RK Pandiyan (both Gujarat cadre IPS officers) and Dinesh MN (Rajasthan cadre IPS officer) are main accused in the case. NK Ameen, then DSP with Gujarat Police, is also an accused in the case. All of them, except Shah, are in jail. The court's notice came on an application by CBI which is seeking a direction to get certain documents related to the case. The apex court ...
BJP leader Umabhartiji gives details about NAMO & Gujarat.. must watch video about NAMO & share it. Is MODI ordered to spy a young girl? Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi with his former Home Minister Amit Shah (File pic) New Delhi: The controversy billowing around Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over whether his government spied on a young woman in Gujarat escalated sharply today. Pradeep Sharma, a senior bureaucrat from the state, told NDTV that he has asked the Supreme Court to order the Gujarat Government to explain whether he too was placed under surveillance. In 2010, Mr Sharma was suspended by the Gujarat Government and then arrested on corruption charges. He told NDTV that he was "persecuted" because he knew of the relationship between a top Gujarat politician and the woman whose identity cannot be revealed for legal reasons. In 2011, he was granted bail. Two news portals -Gulail and cobrapost.com - claim that audio tapes with the CBI reveal that in 2009, Gujarat's then Home Minister ...

The Supreme Court today called the Narendra Modi government's decision to sell land to a private refinery in Gujarat "bad in law and arbitrary", in a major blow to the Chief Minister's number two, Anandi Ben Patel.
Avant garde vigilante media like Cobrapost and Gulail and the anti-Narendra Modi mainstream electronic and print media have been caught between a rock and hard place with the Supreme Court upbraiding suspended IAS officer Pradeep N Sharma for repeating scurrilous allegations against the Gujarat Chief Minister instead of removing the objectionable references in his petition of 2011, as directed by the Court and promised by his then counsel Colin Gonsalves. Pradeep Sharma and his new counsel, Prashant Bhushan, risked contempt of court in their attempt to malign the Chief Minister and bring him within the ambit of their case on Friday, January 17, 2014, but failed. SIT-gate to snoop-gate: Can’t derail Modi juggernaut This has made all media reportage of the alleged snooping into the movements of a young female landscape architect at the supposed behest of the Chief Minister utterly baseless, defamatory, and liable for legal redress if the much-maligned gentleman chooses this course of action. RIOTS,MODI AND TEESTA Rais Khan, once the right hand of Teesta Setalvad and a co-petitioner with Zakia Jafri in filing an FIR against Narendra Modi in the Gulberg Society case, during an interview told me that Teesta had tried to rope in Haren Pandya’s father for filing the complaint against Modi and 62 others, leading to the constitution of the SIT by the Supreme Court to inquire into the role of Modi and others for being complicit in the riots of 2002. Before, I reproduce extracts from Rais Khan’s interview, a brief note on Haren Pandya and why he became a key ally of Teesta Setalvad and the Congress. Haren Pandya was one of the key culprits of 2002 riots in Ahmedabad. He is accused of leading a mob to demolish a dargah in Paldi area. Zafar Sareshwala, a Bora Muslim businessman who lives close to that dargah told me that Pandya also urinated in that dargah—that too in full view of the local maulvi and others. For this, he had become a hate target of the Muslim community. As per Zafar, “While the ...
Criminal Charges Which Narendra Modi Faces Below we publish a summary of the written legal submissions made to 11th Metro Court Judge B J Ganatra by Gujarat riot victim, Mrs Zakia Jafri, on September 18, 2013. The complainant often refers to the fact, among other things, that Modi himself was the Home Minister of Gujarat at the time the state suffered an anti-Muslim pogrom. THE Zakia Jafri criminal complaint against Narendra Modi and 59 others, supported by Citizens for Justice & Peace (CJP), Mumbai, was ordered to be investigated by the Supreme Court, first on April 27, 2009 and thereafter through subsequent orders. Zakia Jafri and the CJP have been attempting to get serious criminal charges registered and investigated since June 8, 2006. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) originally asked to further investigate the major trials was assigned the task on April 27, 2009). An Amicus Curiae was also appointed to assist the court. The SIT, in its reports from 2010 onwards, arrived at the conclusion that wh ...

After SIT, Netropolitan court gives clean chit to Modi in Gujarat Riots Case, year 2000:-- A metropolitan magistrate's court on Thursday rejected the plea of Zakia Jafri against the closure report filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that had given a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in 2002 riots case. Magistarte BJ Ganatra pronounced the order. Further detail of the order is awaited. Meanwhile, Zakia Jafri who was waiting for the judgment since morning was seen disappointed. She said that she will keep fighting and move to higher court against the order. The case was initially filed against Modi and 61 politicians, bureaucrats, police officers and others, but the list of accused is now down to 56, all of whom have been accused of omission or commission during the riots. Jafri's husband and Congress ex-MP Ahsan Jafri, was among the 68 people killed by a mob in Gulberg Society on February 28, 2002. The Supreme Court appointed an SIT under forme ...
12-12-13 current affairs DECEMBER 12th NEWS: PERSONS IN NEWS DP BUCH: Retired Gujarat High Court judge DP Buch was on 11th December sworn in as the state's fourth Lokayukta, a post that lay vacant for a decade and over which Chief Minister Narendra Modi and governor Kamla Beniwal were on a collision course for three years. Justice Buch(retd) was sworn in as the anti-corruption ombudsman at a function in Raj Bhavan by governor Beniwal in the presence of Modi and assembly Speaker Vaju Vala. A major controversy erupted when the governor appointed Justice (retd) R A Mehta as Lokayukta on August 25, 2011, without consulting the state government. This led to a long-drawn legal battle that reached the Supreme Court, which subsequently upheld the governor's decision. Another twist came when Justice Mehta declined to take charge of the office in August this year, citing the long legal battle over his appointment and "the government not accepting his objectivity and credibility." LOKAYUKTA The Lokayukta (also Lok A ...

Ramesh likens Narendra Modi's rise to Third Reich Reuters | Nov 5, 2013, 07.35 PM IST New Delhi: The government stepped up its criticism of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime-ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday, painting him as a dangerous extremist and comparing his rise to the birth of Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Modi's critics have long sought to associate the Hindu nationalist leader with fascism and blame him for anti-Muslim riots in 2002 that killed at least 1,000 people. He denies any wrongdoing in the riots and a Supreme Court investigation found no evidence to prosecute him. The broadsides from two senior ministers follow a series of large political rallies by Modi and a string of opinion polls forecasting a poor performance by the government in state elections starting next week and a general election expected by April. The ruling Congress party's own campaign has yet to pick up much steam. Jairam Ramesh, a senior cabinet minister close to the leadership of the Congress party, said Mod ...

Ms Beniwal had last month returned the bill, which proposes to give all powers to appoint the state Lokayukta or ombudsman to a committee headed by the Chief Minister, virtually eliminating the governor as well as the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court from the process. QUESTIONS BEFORE FANS OF BJP AND NARENDRA MODI ** 1) People believe that if Narendra Modi becomes the Prime Minister and if BJP comes to power, India will become Corruption free. But this is not true, The Truth is Narendra Modi Govt of Gujarat has not appointed Lokayukt for the past 8 years. When the Gujarat Governor appointed the Lokayukt forcefully,Gujarat Govt registered a case in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Lokayukt. Despite Supreme Court asking the Gujarat Govt to appoint Lokayukt, Govt referred this case further to a different bench in the Supreme Court. Supreme Court denied even this. The Corruption of Modi is totally hidden just because of the fact tht he has been kept on avoiding the Lokayukt. Till date, despite Supreme Court's orders, the appointment of Lokayukt has not been done. Will the BJP and Narendra Modi make India Corruption free ?? THE TRUTH ABOUT THE GODHRA SIT REPORT Here’s the smoking gun. So how come the SIT is looking the other way? Narendra Modi swore he was clean. ASHISH KHETAN scoops the 600-page report that exposes he is not PHOTO: AP ON 3 DECEMBER 2010, a leading national daily ran a frontpage story headlined ‘SIT clears Narendra Modi of willfully allowing post- Godhra riots.’ News channels leaped at the story. ‘SIT gives Modi a clean chit’ flashed in bold letters across television screens. The newspaper report that was attributed to anonymous sources and had little more information than the sensational caption was expanded into a certificate of innocence for Modi. Within hours, a beguiling charade of Modi’s righteousness was constructed. While the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had done the probe, chose to remain quiet as it was answerable only to the Supreme Court, BJP spokespersons popped up on news channels hailing the imaginary ‘clean-chit’ as a political triumph. An exuberant LK Advani called ...

Ofcourse this is a mere coincidence & Congress link has no bearing and there is no conflict of interest in this case 3. SC stays Guj HC judgment quashing Green Cess Act Allows State To Compute Cess From Industry But Not Recover It TIMES NEWS NETWORK New Delhi: The legal debate over the Narendra Modi government imposing green cess on industries was revived on Wednesday with Supreme Court staying a Gujarat High Court judgment quashing the state legislation as unconstitutional. A bench of Justices R M Lodha and S J Mukhopadhaya stayed the HC judgment and allowed the Gujarat Government to compute green cess on 20-odd big industries, including Reliance Industries Ltd, Apollo Tyres, Arvind Mills, Essar Oil Ltd, Ultratech Cement, Nirma Ltd, Hindalco, Tata Chemicals and Jaypee Gujarat Cement. Though the bench admitted Gujarat’s appeal filed through standing counsel Hemantika Wahi and expedited the hearing, it asked the state government to only compute the cess liability of industries, which use self-generated power to run their units, but not recover the dues till pendency of the appeal. Two years back, the state enacted the Guj ...
So Retired Justice Aftab Alam has been appointed as Chairman of TDSAT. Any surprise ? Ishrat encounter probe opens window to Haren case Jun 29, 2013 AHMEDABAD: The CBI's charge-sheet in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case to be filed next week may contain a hidden political bombshell for Chief Minister Narendra Modi. It is likely to explain that an important accused in the encounter case has given leads to the March 2003 murder of Haren Pandya, who was Modi's bitter political enemy. Pandya was gunned down at Law Garden in Ahmedabad in what the CBI had described as a reprisal attack in the wake of 2002 anti-Muslim pogrom. Sources said the CBI would leave the matter to its headquarters to take a call on reopening the Pandya case, stating that this was beyond its brief. The Gujarat High Court had acquitted all the 12 accused in the Pandya case and the matter is now pending before the Supreme Court. The case is much more sensitive for Modi than the encounter cases as this involves a former minister of state for home who he had politically targeted. Pandya's father, Vithhalbhai Pandya, had fir ...

The hypocrisy of our secularists Is any one of our loud mouthed secularists aware that even today the displaced Pandits largely continue to live in refugee camps and nobody talks about them? Now think of how our secularists handle Narendra Modi. Firstly, he has been exonerated of all charges against him by the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigative Team (SIT). But it has pleased Sonia Gandhi to call him maut ka saudhagar (merchant of death). To think of how Narendra Modi has been demonized all these years and how, to this day he is the target of our secularists’ diatribes and then to think of what happened in Kashmir some thirty years ago when more than 30,000 Kashmiri Pandits were brutally displaced from their own homes for no fault of theirs, with our deadly secularists maintaining a discreet silence, tells a lot about the sheer double standards of our liberals. I am quoting now from an article written by Ravi Shankar in The New Indian Express (20 January). I am revealing this because I do not ...

Washington. PTI- Expressing disappointment at the decision of Wharton India Economic Forum (WIEF) on rescinding its invitation to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, a US lawmaker has said that for Wharton "to suppress the views of some at the expense of others" is simply not right. "When extending its invite, Wharton knew like the US knows that, more than a decade later, India's Supreme Court has not found any evidence against CM Modi regarding the allegations that his critics continue to put forward," said Congressman Eni Faleomavaega in a statement yesterday. He said,"it is disappointing that Wharton rescinded its invite in response to a protest from a segment of professors and students who are reaching beyond the law and coming awfully close to violating the rights of others who have a different view," He is Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific of the House Foreign Relations Committee, which has broad jurisdiction for matters affecting US-India relations. How not to unfriend Modi | Are you for Narendra Modi or against him? It is a simple question, and a simplifying one. It tells us who you are. Are you a saffron-clad, business-loving, Muslim hater? Or are you a staunch secularist, unwilling to lend voice to the growing clamour for Modi as PM? This is not a thought experiment; it is a question of identity. Choose where you belong. In a letter delivered to a student-run conference hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, 135 academics and activists told us which side they belonged to. The conference is on “India’s evolution from an emerging nation to a prominent global economic power”. Gujarat’s Chief Minister was invited to talk on Skype (since the US refuses him a visa). The “outraged” academics urged the organisers “to revoke their invitation”. Modi’s involvement in the Gujarat riots of 2002, they argued, was documented by the NGO Human Rights Watch, the US state department and — more importantly — by India’s Supreme Court. By pro ...

Reaction: How Kashmiri intellectuals see Afzal’s hanging Afzal Guru was hanged to satisfy the conscience of jingoistic, nationalist and Hindu majority Indians. Even the Supreme Court of India had to redefine the norms of justice in order to kill Afzal. Justice was redefined to suit their own feelings. Justice is universally based on logic and reason, and truth. Justice is not based on pleasing or annoying someone. What will a person say about the justice done with Afzal? Even Supreme Court admitted that Afzal was not part of any militant group and that he had no direct involvement in the attack because all those who had direct involvement in the Parliament attack were killed on the spot. Despite it, he was sent to gallows. The hanging has many dimensions, including political. We’re yet to know what precipitated this decision. Was it to stop the rise of Narendra Modi, to divert the public attention? It’s best known to them. Afzal Guru has been part of public conscience in Kashmir for all these years ...
Markandey Katju (a former judge of the Supreme Court, is Chairman of the Press Council of India) SPEAKS ABOUT MOD'S TERRORISM IN GUJRATH. People clamouring for Narendra Modi should realise the only policy which can take India on the path of progress is equal respect and treatment for all communities Narendra Modi is being projected by a large section of Indians as the modern Moses, the one who will lead the beleaguered and despondent Indian people into a land of milk and honey, the man who is best suited to be the next Indian Prime Minister. And it is not just the Bharatiya Janata Party and RSS who are saying this at the Kumbh Mela. A large section of the Indian so-called ‘educated’ class, including many of our ‘educated’ youth, who have been carried away by Mr. Modi’s propaganda is saying this. I was flying from Delhi to Bhopal recently. Sitting beside me was a Gujarati businessman. I asked him his opinion of Mr. Modi. He was all praise for him. I interjected and asked him about the killing of ...
Firstpost India Katju has reinforced the corrupt patronage system by R Jagannathan Feb 19, 2013 Justice Katju has no one to blame but himself for his fall Why Justice Katju must quit as Press Council Chairman What was Jaitley doing when NDA gave post-retirement jobs, asks Katju In all the tu-tu-main-main over Markandey Katju and Arun Jaitley, and the wider political war of words between the Congress and the BJP, one simple fact has been lost sight of: the systemic element of patronage that supports the entire edifice of corruption in India. Katju has chosen to reinforce the system rather than fight it. The issue is not what Katju thinks of Narendra Modi, but how his appointment as Chairman of the Press Council immediately after his retirement as Supreme Court judge has strengthened a vital pillar of political patronage in our corrupt system. Katju says Jaitley distorted his statements on Modi, and in any case, he was making his comments as a Indian citizen, not as Council Chairman; Jaitley has called for ...
Senior Gujarat Police officer Sanjeev Bhatt has told the Supreme Court in an affidavit that Chief Minister Narendra Modi had asked police officials to "let Hindus vent out their anger against Muslims following the Sabarmati Express train burning incident in Godhra on February 27, 2002". Indian Police Service officer of the 1988 batch, Sanjiv Bhatt affidavit against Narendra Modi. HANG MODI YA KUTTE KI MAUT MAARO ISKU
In Response of A News/ Debate on TIMES NOW regarding Mr. Narendra Modi's 2002 Riots which is even not proven in Supreme Court, these *** Congress Leaders are making this issue public loudly. It is clear from the reports submitted to and by courts that the RIOTS which was in Gujrat was not due to Mr. Modi, but tws by some Hindu against what at that time some muslim activist/ terrorist have done with a group of Hindu in Train. Now my question is from the Congress leaders and Mr. Rahul Gandhi that why they have opting to go with only one issue against him and even you people have lot of miscreant in Indian History: 1. 1947 Partition and RIOT against Muslim. 2. 1984 RIOT against Sikh Community in the reign of Smt. Indira Gandhi against Bhinderwala Group. 3. Marking a Sikh Community as a Khalistan Terrorist. 4. Latest 2012 with the case of Assam RIOT in the reign of Congress. 5. The Delhi Gang Rape from which main culprit has freed as he was under 18. Last but not least why Hindustan Times, The Times of I ...
Political parties like Keshubhai Patel's Gujarat Parivartan Party have criticised the BJP government for its reported move to challenge the Supreme Court ruling.
Akbaruddin Owaisi arrested. I welcome this move as no one should be allowed to spew venom and deliver a hate speech. But I ask why various governments adopt double standards in dealing with accused persons. Why no one has courage and will to arrest the worst offenders who so many times indulged in hate speeches against one particular community? I ask when Narendra Modi, Praveen Togadia, Kalyan Singh, L.K. Advani, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sadhvi Ritambhara, Yogi Adityanath, Varun Gandhi, Raj Thackeray etc will be behind bars for their hate speeches and crimes against humanity? Law should be equal for all.
Who’s anti-women, Modi or the Media? By Madhu Purnima Kishwar Active Academic Feminist & Founder Editor of MANUSHI – A Journal about Women and Society Senior Fellow at the 'Centre for the Study of Developing Societies' (CSDS), Delhi Director of 'Indic Studies Project' at CSDS We know what Narendra Modi said about Sunanda Tharoor. But we weren’t told about the rest of that speech !! Now that the pious outrage over Narendra Modi’s tasteless remark describing Sunanda Pushkar as a “50-crore rupee girlfriend” of Shashi Tharoor has subsided, I hope we can examine the issue in perspective. I write this after viewing Modi’s entire speech on YouTube, delivered during the election campaign in Himachal Pradesh. It provides an illustrative example of how our media steadfastly avoids discussion on serious issues and picks up only sensational and titillating tidbits, especially with regard to women, even while pretending to be guardians of women’s rights and honour. The bulk of Modi’s speech dealt wi ...
Prosecute CM or not? Ahmedabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), appointed by Supreme Court to probe the post-Godhra riots of Gujarat, has sought legal opinion on whether to prosecute five persons, including Chief Minister Narendra Modi, given the evidence they have. The officials have written to SIT’s legal adviser in this connection. Besides Modi, the list includes former director general of police PC Pande, former additional DGP MK Tandon, inspector general of police, PB Gondiya and deputy superintendent of police KK Mysorewala. Zakia Jafri, key witness in the Gulbarg Society massacre of 2002, had filed a complaint before the SIT against 62 persons including Modi, other politicians, top IAS and IPS officers for negligence. SIT has recorded the statements of all the 62 accused. Based on this, five of the 62 were arrested, including former state minister Mayaben Kodnani, former VHP leaders Jaideep Patel and Babu Bajrangi, BJP corporator Bipin Panchal and police inspector K G Erda. “We have now s ...
“The Congress supported government had filed affidavit in the Supreme Court to make a point that there was no historic evidence available on Shri Ram’s existence. They did so to demolish Ram Setu. Today, the biggest obstruction in construction of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi mandir is Conrgess and other so called secular powers that are challenged by people of Gujarat- the people who handed over power to Narendra Modi.” (Ashok Singhal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad)
Narendra Modi accuses Centre over subsidy for beef exports. Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the charge that the Centre was promoting beef exports by providing subsidies even while levying duty on cotton exports. Speaking at the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Jain International Trade Organisation, Modi said “The UPA government allows subsidy to open slaughterhouses, whereas cotton farmers are levied duty for exporting cotton.” He alleged that to facilitate mutton exports, tax is waived off for five years, but Income-Tax (I-T) notices are sent to companies which want to invest in Gujarat. “The Union government does not want another green revolution and white revolution, but wants to promote pink revolution,” Modi alleged, adding that he had to approach the Supreme Court to get a law enacted to ban cow slaughter. He said it is possible to bring change within the system if motives are noble, intentions are clear and policies are coherent. He said when he took over as Chief Minister, ...
Modi better than Swaraj and Jaitley: Jethmalani, by Harinder Baweja, Hindustan Times, 20.10.12 Stirring the hornet's nest in the BJP, Ram Jethmalani, who wrote a letter to party president Nitin Gadkari, pitching for Narendra Modi as the Prime Ministerial candidate, went a step further, telling Hindustan Times that Modi was better than both Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley. "I'm looking for a man whose integrity can't be questioned and that's Modi. Besides, don't forget, he's turned the face of Gujarat," the Rajya Sabha member and Supreme Court lawyer said. Asked why he preferred Modi over Jaitley, also considered a contender for the PM's post within party circles, Jethmalani, who seldom minces his words, said, "Jaitley has never contested an election. He is in the Rajya Sabha because of Modi's grace." The lawyer *** politician, often in the midst of political controversies, was candid about why he wasn't similarly batting for Swaraj, also seen as a contender, saying quite bluntly that he didn't think she wa ...
Narendra Modi in poll mode; compares Congress to chewing tobacco Press Trust of India | Updated: September 11, 2012 20:04 IST Mehsana (Gujarat): Launching a month-long campaign in poll-bound Gujarat, Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused Congress of "misusing" the CBI to target him and also demanded that the Prime Minister face a SIT probe in the coal block allocation scam. Seeking a fourth term in office, the BJP stalwart also slammed the Congress for "attacking the constitutional authorities", accusing it of whipping up an atmosphere of anger against the Government auditor CAG like it did against the Supreme Court in the 2G spectrum allocation case. Signalling that he would fight the coming polls on the plank of "injustice meted out to Gujarat", Mr Modi struck an aggressive tone to kickstart his 2012 month-long campaign through Swami Vivekananda Yuva Vikas Yatra from the holy town of Becharaji in Mehsana. He appealed to people to work towards "Congress-free Gujarat" on the lines of "gutka-fre ...
Keshubhai Patel: Modi considers democracy a burden What are your grievances against Narendra Modi? Modi's style of functioning is autocratic. He considers democracy a burden. The number of days the Assembly has met is the lowest during Modi's regime. For a long time, the Lokayukta was not appointed. And when the Governor appointed the Lokayukta, the state government challenged it in the High Court. After the High Court's ruling that it was within the Governor's powers to appoint the Lokayukta, what was the need to approach the Supreme Court? The CAG has pointed out corruption amounting to 144,000 crore. There are allegations against some ministers but the government says it will not allow taking action.
Dear Bakra Dutt, Rajiv Gandhi insulted Supreme Court by overturning Shah Bano case, Narendra Modi accepts every court verdict with humility.
Exhuming of graves: Gujarat Government maintains Teesta Setalvad as main accused - Narendra Modi government has justified before the Supreme Court its ongoing probe against social
Supreme COurt Appointed SIT on Narendra Modi - the thrust of CM’s speech everywhere was that the incident was heinous, organised and that the culprits would be brought to strictest punishment.. . . . it is not the case that the Chief Minister made any assertion concerning- the obligation of any religious community to do such acts, as are likely to cause disharmony. He did not make any appeal to Hindus or Muslims to take up arms against each other.’ it is reasonably concluded that no utterances on part of Shri Narendra Modi could ‘be attributed suggestive to any intended promotion of hatred ill-will etc.. amongst religious groups
BJP harps on POTA-Type law again after Modi's push THE Hindustan Times, PAGE : 11 A day after Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi pressed for a Prevention of Terrorist Activities Act (POTA) act, which was repealed by the UPA government in 2004, the BJP asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as to why the fight against terror through POTA was "compromised" for vote-bank politics. BJP General Secretary Ravi Shankar Prasad said "why was POTA repealed? POTA was an instrument that was needed by the security forces in the fight against terror. It has been declared to be constitutionally valid by the Supreme Court. Yet in your declaration you said we shall repeal POTA... The fight against terror was compromised at the altar of vote-bank politics." Modi had told the Chief Ministers' conference on anti-terror body NCTC on Saturday that when the nations were strengthening themselves with robust anti-terror laws, the UPA repealed POTA, an anti-terrorism legislation enacted by the NDA government in 2002. The act had re ...
