Clarence Thomas: The Supreme Court's decision suggests the justices' minds are made up on *** marriage
Why 3 Supreme Court Justices Didn’t Attend the State of the Union The wording in the Constitution is simple and straightforward: the President “shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union.” There's nothing in there about the Supreme Court Justices and, accordingly, there's nothing simple and straightforward about their attendance. This year, six justices were in attendance, while three of the most conservative members of the court, Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito were noticeably absent. In the modern era, custom has held that the justices would show up in their official robes and sit impassively. But in recent years, they've become more resistant to the tradition. Justice Antonin Scalia’s absence is no surprise. It was the 19th State of the Union in a row that he’s skipped since he considers the speech a “childish spectacle.” Justice Clarence Thomas’s empty seat was also unsurprising. In 2012, Thomas said he doesn’t attend ...

“This month marks the start of Justice Alito’s 10 year on the Supreme Court. He took his seat on Jan. 31, 2006, chosen by President George W. Bush to succeed Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and confirmed by a vote of 58 to 42 after a feeble Democratic filibuster effort collapsed. The Alito-for-O’Connor substitution was the most consequential change on the court since the first President Bush picked Clarence Thomas to replace Justice Thurgood Marshall in 1991. None of the six subsequent departures (in addition to Justice O’Connor, they were Justices Byron R. White and Harry A. Blackmun, Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist, and Justices Souter and John Paul Stevens) produced anything like the ideological lurch caused by the replacement of a moderately conservative compromise seeker with a lifelong movement conservative. In 1985, a 35-year-old Samuel Alito applied for a job in the Reagan Justice Department with an essay asserting that as a teenager in the 1960s, “the greatest influences on my views we ...

A little background notes on our new "Ebola Czar"--why do presidents use a term that referred one time to the autocratic rulers of Russia? Ron Klain brings to the table no medical background, but he prolonged the agonizing Presidential election of 2000 with the recount(s) that jeopardized a Constitutional outcome and tried to give Mr. Global Warming (Al Gore ) the Presidency. He was also on the staff of then Sen. Joe Biden in 1991 during the Senate "high-tech lynching" hearings on the confirmation of Clarence Thomas as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court after his nomination by the first President Bush. So once again we have a left-wing political hack trying to restore some calm and sanity to a dangerous, multi-faceted situation that is on the minds of most of America. I'm sure Mr. Klain may be a smart man--just not a smart choice for this! Way to go, Mr. President! Another opportunity WASTED!!!
Wednesday, October 15, 2014 This Day In American History After a bitter confirmation hearing, the U.S. Senate votes 52 to 48 to confirm Clarence Thomas to the U.S. Supreme Court. In July 1991, Thurgood Marshall, the first African American to sit on the Supreme Court, announced his retirement after 34 years. President George Bush quickly nominated Clarence Thomas, a 43-year-old African American judge known for his conservative beliefs, to fill the seat. Thomas had been chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) during the Reagan administration, and in 1990 Bush had appointed him to the U.S. Court of Appeals. As the confirmation hearings for Thomas' Supreme Court nomination got underway, he evaded controversy over his conservative views on issues such as abortion by refusing to state a clear political position. He seemed headed for an easy confirmation until Anita Hill, a former aide, stepped forward and accused him of sexual harassment. Hill, who had served as an aide to Thomas at the D ...

I cannot stand how uneducated some people are. Especially on topics in which they choose to speak. The Hobby Lobby decision wasn't chosen by " five white guys" that can't see past their "white privileged lives." Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is an African American and voted in favor of Hobby Lobby. That's part of what's wrong with this country today. Too many people just think they regurgitate and spew the same drivel and propaganda they read from other pseudo-intellectual sleaze bags on social media sites. Just because you read it on here doesn't mean it's true. Educate yourself before you make yourself out to be a complete and utter *** on the internet.
Apparently this is nothing new, but Clarence Thomas thinks individual states should be allowed to name an official state religion. Not even the other Roman Catholics of the Supreme Court will entertain that idea.
A good essay by Steven Frey builds the case for removing Clarence Thomas from the Supreme Court because of his ignorance of the Constitution. Paricularly, he insists repeatedly that states have the right to establish a state religion, despite the insistence on no state religion that is included in the Constitution. He says that applies only to the Federal Government and not states. What if Muslims became the majority in Michigan with their population base in Dearborn and managed to vote in Islam as the official state religion of Michigan? What if Wiccans in Oregon managed to win a vote declaring paganism as the official state religion of Oregon? Southern Baptist would easily win in Texas, and Mormonism in Utah. What then, Clarence? In Arizona, our official state religion should be insanity.

The issue of sexual harassment famously rose to national prominence in 1991 after Anita Hill, a law professor in Oklahoma, testified in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee about the sexual misconduct perpetrated by Clarence Thomas before he was nominated to the Supreme Court. The panel of all-white, all-male lawmakers seemed to be confused about what exactly constituted sexual harassment. Working women, however, finally had a term for the realities they were facing — and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission saw a sharp spike in the number of sexual harassment charges after Hill’s widely publicized testimony.

In few days the Supreme Court will hand down its decision in “Shaun McCutcheon v. Federal Election Commission” – which might use the bizarre logic of the Court's “Citizens United” decision to abandon all limits on what individuals can spend on political campaigns – another huge victory for the Koch Brothers. I’m no conspiracy theorist, but it’s interesting that only months after “Citizens United” was decided, the Koch Brothers' invite to their twice-yearly political retreat noted that previous guests at such meetings had included Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas (according to the New York Times).

Did you know...Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was an attorney at Monsanto from 1976 to 1979. After his appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Thomas wrote the majority opinion in a case that helped Monsanto enforce its seed patents.
Further, as evidenced by the political battles fought over the recent nominations of Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court, the public obviously believes that the ideology of the people who serve as judges influences the way the law is interpreted.
Now that Dems have the offensive, they should be wise not to hesitate for a moment to fill everyone of those 93 judicial vacancies with progressively-leaning judges. Because if the GOP had the same opportunity, they would not only pack those vacancies with right-winged ideologues, like Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito; but the GOP would have also gone a step further to peel back the filibuster rules in the Senate to include Supreme Court nominees and most legislation. Make no doubt about that!! Therefore, I think Harry Reid made a mistake to not subject future Supreme Court nominees and most legislation to just a simple majority vote in the Senate also.

berita hari ini : Supreme Court Justices attend Mass before new term - KHOU Associated Press Posted on October 6, 2013 at 8:32 PM WASHINGTON (AP) — This year's Catholic Mass before the Supreme Court's new term has become an appeal to the other deadlocked branches of government. A majority of the court, including Chief Justice John Roberts, attended Sunday's Mass at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington, as did members of Congress and White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough. The four other Supreme Court Justices who attended were Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, Stephen Breyer and Elena Kagan. Amid the government shutdown, Bishop Kevin Farrell criticized petty partisanship and polarizing rhetoric that he said makes it seem like "'I Did It My Way' has now become the National Anthem." The visiting bishop of Dallas also urged government officials to remove obstacles to welcoming immigrants. Print Email | MORE MORE! Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, John G. We spend millions of dollars trying to propagate Democracy throughout the world and yet we don't have a democratic system here in America. During the 2012 election year Republican Governors tried to disenfranchise as many minorities, the elderly, and poor people as they could. They passed laws that they knew would hurt the above people's opportunity to vote. Now the Supreme Court cancelled proposition 5 from the Civil Rights Act saying the country has changed. Led by John Roberts and the all time traitor to African American people Clarence Thomas they made it possible for Republican Governors to enact these laws because the Republicans know they can never get a majority in America unless they disenfranchise a certain segment of the country. That is why the Republicans in the House will never pass the immigration law because they don't want Hispanics gaining full citizenship. From the very beginning this country has never been a full Democracy. When my enslaved ancestors were freed we had to battle for a h ...
This has truly been a historical week in this country. Some good and some bad. The repeal of at least one portion of DOMA and the take down of the Prop 8 in California has shown the progress (although slower than I would like) this country is making. However in with repeal of some of stipulations of the Voting Rights Act and Affirmative Action it seems in other areas we have taken a step backwards. Clarence Thomas is singlehandedly the most detrimental person to Black culture and well being in this country and Scalia is not far behind. Affirmative Action is in place to level the playing field and it is still far from level. Thomas, in particular, is in the Supreme Court based almost entirely on the opportunities given to him through Affirmative Action. He is simply a Tom and it is disgusting the way he has ruled recently. He voted to keep DOMA in place even though his marriage was once illegal in this country. The fight is not over. Someone please answer this. Why are there no Left-leaning Justices? We ha ...
Do you know who Ryan Patrick Winkler is??? neither did I, but it seems he made a racist remark about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, in this quote "VRA majority is four accomplices to race discrimination and one Uncle Thomas." It wasn't a "mistake" just blurted out.he planned to say it. Now, if that isn't just about as racist a comment as Paula Deen made (30 years ago!!!) what is??? Now, we haven't been reading and hearing about this man AT ALL... He is an Ivy-League trained public official and an attorney educated at Harvard and the University of Minnesota Law School. He later said, "I did not understand 'Uncle Tom' as a racist term.I do apologize for it, however," he sniveled. OK now that's all I have to say about that. You can check it out. It was in a news column written by Michelle Malkin, with the Creator's Syndicate. remember his name: Ryan Patrick Winkler.
Trying to avoid politics but just heard Bill Moyer make a great point. Clarence Thomas wouldn't be on the Supreme Court without the Voting Rights Act, but he essentially un-did it with his vote on Tuesday.
Now that equal rights have become law of the land I declare you Clarence Thomas resign from the Supreme Court! Your hypocritical demeanor is an insult to all of America in the means of the respect of justice. Why do I say this? Well yesterday you vote down the Voting Rights Act even though you lived in the state and during the times where the Jim Crow Laws were most relevant. Then you vote against the *** marriage passage even Though you are married to a white woman. When another Black Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall who you replaced was strongly descrimated against and could not marry the love of his life a white lady until 1959. Although you are right Mr. Thomas affirmitive action is a bad thing. It made you hate yourself. This is why I suggest you resign and/or stay away from anything to do with an equal rights issues.
SUPREME Court Justice Clarence Thomas suggested that Affirmative Action was comparable to the Jim Crow segregation laws enacted in the American South in the 1880s to 1960s. Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin centered on whether the University of Texas violated the constitutional rights of some white applicants when it used race as a factor in the admissions process. Thomas said that the "worst forms" of racism have "always been accompanied by straight-faced representations that discrimination helped minorities. Slaveholders argued that slavery was a 'positive good' that civilized blacks and elevated them in every dimension of life," Thomas said. "Segregationists likewise defended segregation on the ground that it provided more leadership opportunities for blacks." Thomas said he was admitted to Yale Law School in part because of Affirmative Action, Thomas the Supreme Court Justice had himself benefited from Affirmative Action. "I got mine but I'll make sure you don't get yours!" WOW !
I am so disappointed and furious at the Supreme Court's decision for their striking down of the 4th Provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, thus making it harder for some voters (minorities) to vote in some states (Southern). This a complete destruction of what President Lyndon Johnson enforced in order to guarantee Civil Rights for African Americans. When the Founding Fathers implemented in the Constitution that Supreme Court Justices are to have lifetime appointments, they did not have in mind that tehey would live up to 80 or 90 years of age, whereas back then, justices were to live through their 40's and 50's. There needs to be a constitutional amendment that gives these same justices term limites, just like the other two branches of American government. If the American electorate believes that these same justices don't have a political agenda to uphold, then they are deluding themselves. Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia and John G. Roberts need to just be relinquished of thier lawful duties.

The US government is pushing us back in time and doing a good job at it ~ and us without a Malcolm or a Martin between us. The heavily conservative weighted Supreme Court of the United States of America with the assistance of the only black Supreme Court Judge (Clarence Thomas) have just struck down a major tenet of the Civil Rights Act which sought to prevent certain states, with a legacy of enshrining laws serving to disenfranchise blacks, from being able to do so. Clarence Thomas et al have just set us back 40 years. As recently as the 2012 Election we saw the efforts that the Republican Governers made to pass nefarious and cantankerous voter ID laws with the sole aim of disenfranchising blacks and Hispanics. Clarence Thomas attained his position to the SCOTUS by virtue of the very Affirmative Action policies he seeks to dismantle. Policies that many a generations of Blacks fought and died for. People of the calibre of Martin Luther King, Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, the three Civil Rights workers, and so many others, fought and made the ultimate sacrifice so that people of colour could have the right to vote. You cannot even ...
The racist, cowardly, venal, and evil majority on the Supreme Court just gutted the Voting Rights Acts. We can't let this pass. It is time for us to mobilize again. I'm ready to put on my marching shoes and go to jail. Now is the time for the college age generation to show us they can do something other than gaze at their iphones. Clarence Thomas is a traitor to his race. He loves kissing Antonin Scalia's *** and fawning, scratching his head, and brown nosing around fascist Tea Party Types. He reminds me of the slave who turned in Denmark Vesey when he was planning a Slave Rebellion in South Carolina in 1831. That slave was rewarded by the Charleston slaveholders. He reminds me of Judas Iscariot. Was he rewarded with pieces of silver. How can an African American deliberately punish his own people? Brave people marched, were beaten, went to jail, and died to get voting rights. Clarence Thomas benefitted from those efforts. If there are any schools or other buildings named after him, they should be renamed. ...

Court: DNA can be taken in arrests Justices rule it’s legitimate police procedure By Jesse J. Holland Associated Press WASHINGTON — A sharply divided Supreme Court cleared the way Monday for police to take a DNA swab from anyone they arrest for a serious crime, endorsing a practice now followed by more than half the states as well as the Federal Government. The justices differed strikingly on how big a step that was. “Taking and analyzing a cheek swab of the arrestee DNA is, like fingerprinting and photographing, a legitimate police booking procedure that is reasonable under the Fourth Amendment,” Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the court’s five-justice majority. The ruling backed a Mary-land law allowing DNA swabbing of people arrested for serious crimes. Kennedy, who is often considered the court’s swing vote, wrote the decision along with conservative-leaning Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas. They were joined by liberal-leaning Justice Stephen Breye ...

Everything you need to know about the nominations showdown, in one FAQ By Dylan Matthews, Published: June 3, 2013 It was funny when Senate Judiciary Committee ranking member Chuck Grassley equated Obama filling D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals vacancies with “court-packing.” But that’s not the last we’re going to hear from the Senate about judicial appointments. According to my colleague Juliet Eilperin, Obama is gearing up to appoint three more judges to the D.C. Circuit, which currently has eight confirmed judges but a total of 11 seats. If approved, Obama’s new nominees would put the court at full capacity for the first time since a brief period in 2005, before John Roberts left to become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The last time the court was full before that was in 1991 — but then Clarence Thomas left to join the Supreme Court. And whether or not those judges make it onto the court could make or break Obama’s second-term agenda. They’ll be the ones ruling on decisions coming from ...
Clarence Thomas, the only black U.S Supreme Court Justice sitting on the courts, sat and said NOTHING, when Justice Scalia said voting is "A Perpetuation of Racial Entitlement". Medgar Evers. Goodman,Chaney, Schwerner. Viola Luizzo. Jimmy Lee Johnson. All the named and Unnamed foot soldiers and Freedom Fighters who marched. And fought. And died, even for Clarence Thomas. And for him to sit there and say Nothing. You are a *** DISGRACE. AND FAR WORSE THAN SCALIA ANY DAY.
Antonin Scalia and his other racist Supreme Court cronies including Clarence Thomas, could not allow their...
Sitting here listening and watching News Nation with Tamron Hall on MSNBC! The main topic of today is about the Supreme Court's going over Section 5 of the Voters' rights act. Of course the Conservative/Republican members of Congress are leaning toward abolishing the act . (Justice Scalia and the rest of the Good Boys- Yeah I know Clarence Thomas doesn't have the color of the rest of the boys, but inside he's the same as the rest of them! It will be a significant blow to democracy should these pompous *** get rid of the act! Sadly there are those who want to take this nation back to it's inglorious past, a past where they felt comfortable! A past where minorities were treated with total with disregard to their being a member of the human race! A past where they could murder and rape and plunder with impunity! A past where no minority could challenge their behaviors! A past where Black people could not testify in a court of law against even the most crooked White person! A past were little Bl ...
Two out of Nine Judges on Supreme Court -worked for Monsanto. Elena Kagan and Clarence Thomas.
Clarence Thomas: The Petulant Justice “I think it’s a pity…. It’d be good for him…. Because I think that when you get into that it affects you and maybe it changes you a little bit … and he would learn from it.”—Charles Fried, former Reagan Administration attorney, on Justice Clarence Thomas’s silence during oral argument. There is nothing ideological or doctrinal about Justice Clarence Thomas’s dogged refusal to participate in the most visible display of work the Supreme Court offers the American people. Instead, it’s simply a human thing—not humility, as some suggest, but petulance. Justice Thomas isn’t going to ask questions of the lawyers before him during oral argument because he’s not going to ask questions. Period. And he’s willing to say almost anything to explain why.The issue is back in the news in part because of a speech Thomas gave last month to law students at the University of Florida. In it, he first warned his audience not to “undermine” precious governmen ...
I don't know much about Supreme Court politics, so I ask how did Clarence Thomas not become Chief Justice already?
In 1991, Anita Hill, a young law professor, testified in front of a Senate Judiciary Committee that her former mentor and then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Clarence Thomas has sexually harassed her in the workplace. Now after 22 years of silence, Anita Hill tells her story in a documentary, Anita,...

A MUST FILM TO SEE: ANITA Directed by Academy Award-Winner Freida Mock Featuring Anita Hill An entire country watched transfixed as a poised, beautiful African-American woman in a blue dress sat before a Senate committee of 14 white men and with a clear, unwavering voice recounted the repeated acts of sexual harassment she had endured while working with U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. That October day in 1991 Anita Hill, a bookish law professor from Oklahoma, was thrust onto the world stage and instantly became a celebrated, hated, venerated, and divisive figure. Anita Hill’s graphic testimony was a turning point for gender equality in the U.S. and ignited a political firestorm about sexual misconduct and power in the workplace that resonates still today. She has become an American icon, empowering millions of women and men around the world to stand up for equality and justice. Against a backdrop of sex, politics, and race, ANITA reveals the intimate story of a woman who spoke truth to powe ...
Saturday night at the Sundance Film Festival, the documentary titled Anita premiered. In the film, director Frieda Mock takes a look back at a look at Anita Hill and her sexual harassment testimony during Clarence Thomas's 1991 Supreme Court confirmation.
I've seen/heard more angry words by black people for Clarence Thomas than for Anton Scalia. More angry words for Barack Obama than for Ronald Reagan or George W. Bush. Few people know that Justice Thomas had to personally move all the the storage boxes out of his office when he finally made it onto the court 21 years ago; that Thomas was offered no help in getting any clerks to help him get up to speed after coming into the court's term late following the long drama of confirmation after the allegations about his misconduct with Anita Hill. Justice Thomas WAS (and is) "the help." Thomas recently broke his record 7 YEAR silence during oral arguments before the U.S. Supreme Court. I've always thought that Thomas' conspicuous silence is a deliberate acknowledgement and protest by him that, despite all the skinning and grinning any of us can do, under this system of global racism (White Supremacy), we've got very little meaning--especially within any formal role in white folks' structures. This is true de ...
I personally don't give a rat's *** about the inauguration - it is a total waste of time and taxpayer money and it is one of the most boring goddamned things to see on tv. And I cannot stand VP Joe Biden because he is the biggest bullsh-s in the world and I have never forgiven him for the crap he pulled during the Clarence Thomas nomination for Supreme Court hearings back in 1991! VP Biden is in need of an eternal enema !
Clarence Thomas breaks 7-year silence in Supreme Court but only to tell Sonia Sotomayor "You smell real, real nice."
Clarence Thomas breaks 7-year silence at Supreme Court by asking question about Lily Ledbetter
Two decades after Anita Hill's testimony against Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas, women are still punished for confronting their harassers.
This issue will be before the Supreme Court early in 2013. Since Justice Clarence Thomas is a previous employee of Monsanto, he should recluse himself. He refuses to do so. Also, Michael R. Taylor, deputy commissioner for foods at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), was Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto and is expected to influence the Court's decision. Important!

Clarence Thomas cited Lysander Spooner in McDonald v. Chicago? Wow, that's the only time I can think of an anarchist being cited by a Supreme Court Justice.
The re-election of President Obama means no Supreme Court appointments like Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas!
I want to be the first to predict that Hillary Clinton will replace Clarence Thomas on the U.S. Supreme Court by appointing Barack Obama.
The prospect of President Obama leaving his stamp on the Supreme Court and the Appellate and District Courts is the most immediate benefit of having a Senate controlled by Democrats. They need to get rid of that super majority rule or get a filibuster proof Senate. Oh, how I would like to see the likes of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas retiring from the Supreme Court.
Most conservatives are worried and upset about having Obama as President for four more years, as well they should be. However, the Presidency isn't the only branch of government that warrants our concern...we must not forget the importance of the Supreme Court and the role Obama might play in how it deals with social issues for decades to come. Of course, the President nominates potential justices. There are four conservative judges right now, with Anthony Kennedy quite often serving as a "swing vote". Three are relatively young: John Roberts is 57; Clarence Thomas is 64; Samuel Alito is 62. However, the aforementioned Kennedy and Antonin Scalia are both 76. We need to pray that they can hang around until the age of 80, or othewise Obama will replace them with liberals, and we sure don't want that, as liberals would then control the Court.
A young Black writer, writing without the influence of Richard Wright is just like appointing Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court.

The lessons of Election 2012 - (1) Despite Citizens' United, the informed electorate of the country is not yet for sale to the Koch boys or anyone else, (2) At least two probable Supreme Court Justices ( and a possible 3, 4 or even 5!) will be replaced by the former editor of the Harvard Law Review, and with superior choices like Mdm. Justice Sotomayor and not glaring mediocrities like Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, (3) Diplomacy will again be the guiding m.o. of foreign policy, and not knee-jerk reactionary mischief (i.e., "Brains before Bullets"), (4) Universal Health Care is now cemented into the American fabric - somewhere, President Truman is smiling, and next to Senator Ted Kennedy, (5) Marriage evolution took a major leap forward thanks to Maine, Maryland and Wisconsin with its first openly *** elected US Senator (in part, thanks to Kevin Stewart). Rock on., (6) Reefer Madness be damned, (7) For the second time in American history, US citizens just dumped the "Tea" into Boston Harbor. If the Re ...
Top 10 Reasons For Pro-Lifers to Vote for Mitt Romney Here are ten reasons why pro-life voters should vote for Mitt Romney for president. 1. Roe V. Wade: Because a federal Human Life Amendment to the Constitution is an extraordinarily difficult long-term prospect, overturning Roe V. Wade is the only real method of achieving legal protection for unborn children any time soon. When it comes to Roe V. Wade, Obama has repeatedly voiced his support for the infamous abortion decision while Romney has repeatedly said he wants it overturned. 2. Supreme Court: To overturn Roe V. Wade, we need more Supreme Court Justices in the mold of Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, both of whom have publicly made clear their desire to overturn the decision. President Obama named pro-abortion radicals Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor to the High Court in his effort to keep abortions legal another 40 years. On the other hand, Romney assembled a team of pro-life, conservative legal heavyweights to advise him on legal matters — ...
Watching Anne Coulter on CNN, watching the epitome of rationalization of White Supremacy and defense of White privilege and she just quoted Shelby Steele saying Clarence Thomas is the freest Black man in America. Amazing how a syncophant for Caucasians and White Supremacy is free, when has he taken a position as Supreme Court Justice or voted against White interests or protecting White interests on High Court? And where were his legal qualifications ... but that is freedom?
The best two justices on Supreme Court are Anthony Kennedy and Clarence Thomas. The worst is Roberts and then all the rest.
Arlen Spector. Sorry, but I remember him for putting Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court by assassinating the character of Anita Hill and his intervention with the state legislature to weaken the statutory rape law.

I will mulling over the astrological implications, of which I am certain there are several, later today. Ideas welcome!

I missed last night's debate, but all i know is that Biden has been in the Senate for years, was the head of the Senate Judiciary Committe and went to head to head with Sen. Arlen Specter during the Anita Hill hearings to try to block Clarence Thomas's appointment to the Supreme Court, and Ryan's an *** who spouts alot of nonsense that most people don't even believe (in.) SO, i think this is more important to circulate and share AFTER the debate than before! Please share!
Today in history, October 11th, 1991, in Washington, Anita Hill testified before a senate panel, about her claims that then Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her. Thomas denied the claims, denouncing the hearings as a "high-tech lynching."

Who needs them? 9/24/12 By Dan Brillman Is something in the water over at the Supreme Court? Last week, we reported on a volley of name-calling , rebuttals , and counter-rebuttals between Justice Antonin Scalia and 7th Circuit judge Richard Posner. Scalia was also reportedly " enraged " at John Roberts' switch on healthcare. And in an interview with Reuters' Editor-in-Chief, Steven Adler, Scalia even dissed the French . Well, maybe it's just Scalia's way. But now Clarence Thomas is getting into the backbiting act with some choice words for U.S. News' vaunted law school rankings . Speaking to University of Florida law students last week, Thomas said that he goes out of his way to select clerks from schools that are not normally considered "first tier," and he compared the practice of only selecting clerks from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etc. to racial and gender discrimination. "My new bias," he said, "is that I don't eliminate the Ivies in hiring, but I intentionally prefer kids from regular backgrounds and ...
When President Bush asked Clarence Thomas to be a Supreme Court Justice, he said he had a Forrest Gump moment, but that “when the president calls, there’s only one answer you’re supposed to give.”
Justice Thomas opened up in a public interview at the National Archives, talking about his race, his faith and relations among the justices after a contentious Supreme Court term.
In 1991, Anita Hill was swept into the national spotlight for her role in the confirmation hearings of then Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas. Her controversial testimony brought the topic of sexual harassment in the workplace to the forefront of American consciousness and ignited a fierce ...
Clarence Thomas, in a rare interview, offers a glimpse into the way his mind works. First, there’s a little atavistic longing for the Jim Crow era: “In reflecting on his youth, Justice Thomas rejected one of the rationales the Supreme Court offered in 1954 in Brown v. Board of Education for forbidding segregation in public schools. “ ‘I hear people say, it affected your self-esteem to be segregated,’ he said. ‘It never affected mine.’ ” Then there’s the comment on how faith has saved him from being a bitter man: “ ‘I grew up in a religious environment, and I’m proud of it,’ he said. ‘I was going to be a priest; I’m proud of it. And I thank God I believe in God or I would probably be enormously angry right now.’ " Gee, I thought he already held the title of the angriest man in Washington. Such little insight, such little empathy for others, and such a readiness to normalize and project his experiences onto those who may have had a more conventional take on segregation. He de ...
During the Clarence Thomas scandal - he was nominated for the Supreme Court and the Anita Hill scandal was threatening his appointment. Saturday Night Live did a skit on the hearings. Ted Kennedy and Joe Biden were discussing Thomas' attempts to seduce Anita Hill. Biden said, "A pubic hair on a coke can... when did that ever work?" Then Kennedy says, "Did you ever try coming out of the bathroom naked?"
Random thought - Clarence Thomas replacing Thurgood Marshall on the Supreme Court is one of the sickest jokes in history of jurisprudence.
Probably the most important job the president has is appointing Supreme Court Justices. The economy and all the other matters are actually more determined by Congress. With the right wing extremists taking over the republican party, electing Romney would assure a Clarence Thomas like appointment...threatening the social progress America has made in the last 100 years. Romney has already sold out to the religious right and said he'd move to repeal Rowe v. Wade, the republican platform is against contraception, republican states have enacted racially motivated voter restriction laws...they deny science in favor of the bible just like the religious nuts denied Ben Franklin's work on electricity (lightening is God's will, we shouldn't put rods on houses to protect them) in the 18th century. America cannot afford to move backwards in the 21st century on social issues. Just think how well Iran has done after the takeover by their religious right.
For all of you feeling smug, complacent and superior to this wanker Todd Akin, remember that Clarence Thomas, who has been peddling the same Dark Ages agitprop known as 'Natural Law' for decades has a job for life on our Supreme Court. Be afraid, not smug!
I woke up today and thought about Anita Hill and Clarence Thomas' battle during his conformation hearing for the Supreme Court. In 2012, gender inequality still is prevalent in American Society, or is it if women are indeed a supermajority of the US Population? Also, Clarence Thomas was clearly unqualified for the Seat on the court and everyone knew it. I am devastated he will hold that office for the majority of my life. Just wanted to vent. I need a lecture series.
President Obama like other Democratic presidents before him since Franklin D. Roosevelt, takes African American votes for granted and more so since he is perceived as an African American. And given the latter fact, he tries to distance himself from anything that will least suggest that he is pro-African American. As a result he goes out of his way in favoring other demographics. For instance how many African Americans hold a cabinet office in his administration in comparison to previous administrations? Besides, he has had the rare opportunity to make two supreme court appointments so far and none is African American given the fact that African American interest is not fully represented on that court (Clarence Thomas being anti African American). The list goes on and on to show how he intentionally ignore the African America demographic. Republican party stands a good chance of attracting African American votes if it can modify it's policy and soften it’s racial rhetoric because the Democratic party has ...
I think the two most libertarian justices on the Supreme Court are Anthony Kennedy & Clarence Thomas even if they often don't vote together
I am pro-business. However, there are such things as evil companies, just as there are evil government actions. If we don't call out evil when we see it we are remiss. Also watch the movie "Food Inc." for more info about Monsanto. Oh yeah.Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was a Monsanto lawyer. FDA deputy administrator is Michael Taylor...appointed by Obama. Former Monsanto execs and lawyers have infiltrated the Federal Government like tapeworms in the bowels of Washington.

They also hated his dad Bush Sr. for appointing Clarence Thomas to the US Supreme Court.
Imagine how funky the Supreme Court could have been if Bush Sr. had nominated Clarence Carter rather than Clarence Thomas.
As president, Mitt will nominate judges in the mold of Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas, and Alito. ~from the romney website. Because we need more justices like Clarence Thomas. Deemed unfit to serve in Viet Nam, spent only 16 months as a judge before appointment to the Supreme Court, former corporate attorney for Monsanto, and known sexual harasser. Well done piece shown on the Today show this am: The Integration of a College. The story of Father Brooks at The College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, MA) who brought the first black students to the college back in the sixties. RIP Father Brooks (who died Monday). "On April 4, 1968, the death of Martin Luther King Jr. shocked the nation. A few days later, the Boston-born priest Rev. John E. Brooks, S.J., then a professor of theology at Holy Cross who shared Dr. King’s dream of an integrated society, drove up and down the East Coast searching for African-American high school recruits, young men he felt had the potential to succeed if given an opportunity. Among the 20 students he had a hand in recruiting that year were Clarence Thomas, the future Supreme Court Justice; Edward P. Jones, who would go on to win a Pulitzer Prize for literature; and Theodore Wells, who would become one of the nation’s most successful defense attorneys. Now, the stories of their time at Holy Cross are being told in the boo ...
“You come before this committee with a philosophy different from that which we have seen in any Supreme Court nominee in the last 19 years...you are an adherent to the view that the Natural Law should inform the Constitution.” ~ Senator Joe Biden, browbeating Clarence Thomas in his Supreme Court confirmation hearing.
As Twitchy reported this morning, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the individual mandate in Obamacare as a tax. Justices Scalia, Kennedy, Alito and Thomas dissented. Repulsively, yet predictably, this caused the Left to hurl vile racial slurs at Justice Clarence Thomas. They started yesterday, but...
Clarence Thomas do you see why you are not the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Thanks you Chief Justice Roberts.
Clarence Thomas may have been appointed to fill the Supreme Court seat vacated by Thurgood Marshall, but he will never fill his shoes.
What yet another sad day for America..I wasn't surprised at the Supreme Court ruling and knew that liberal judges who have been appointed would rule in favor but I was surprised that Cheif Justice Roberts sided with them..My only concellation is that Justice Clarence Thomas ( a African American ) recognized the uncontituinally of Obama care and voted NO..My prayer is that come November the majority of Americans will see Obama for what he is and what he stands for and not reelect him.If he is reelected the my prayer will be COME QUICKLY LORD JESUS!
My prayers goes out to the Chris Brown family. You know growing up in Baltimore, I always realized that black cops seems to hate and have comtempt for their own kind. How can another race make you hate your own. Clarence Thomas , tne Supreme Court Justice did'nt want poor blacks to have health care. Go figure. The sad part is Whitey throw those suckers under the bus when the heat is on. So I say to Baltimore County, get a rope and string up for hating your own kind. Other ethnic groups really don't understand the self hatred. So I say in closing forget all these self centered *** Put his *** in jail.
My thoughts about the Supreme Court . . . Well if Elena Kagan can recuse herself from the Arizona immigration bill because she worked on parts of Arizona's immigration issues in the past before she became a Supreme Court Justice, then why didn't Clarence Thomas recuse himself from the healthcare bill when his wife Ginny Thomas was accepting donations on behalf of killing the healthcare bill? Seems very fishy to me! This is just one of the reasons that I think Justice Thomas is playing politics on these issues and does NOT have the interest of the american people in mind when making these decisions. I'm just sayin!!
Black History Fact: 1948 lawyer and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was born.
"The collapse of American's faith in the Supreme Court has been recent but dramatic. Some where in between Bush v. Gore and Clarence Thomas's paid retreat at the Koch Brothers' retreat and Antonin Scalia comparing surgery to broccoli, Americans noticed that some of the country's foremost justices are buffoons." - Stephen Marche
As we await the Supreme Court's dismantling of the Affordable Care Act, remember that politics has consequences. Those who don't vote or actively participate in the political process ratify the choices of those who do. BUZZFLASH EDITOR'S BLOG By Mark Karlin Antonin Scalia is guilty of initiating the theft of the 2000 election from Al Gore through a stay he issued forcing the stop of the State Court ordered recount in Florida, and his subsequent coordination of a 5-4 majority to annoint George W. Bush as President. But as of just yesterday, August 17th, he also added state sanctioned murder to his list of crimes. Scalia was one of just two written dissenters (along with his puppet, Clarence Thomas), who ferociously challenged the notion that the Supreme Court should ensure that an innocent man not be put to death. That's right, Scalia -- in common sense terms and not the legal mumble jumble that he dazzles the likes of Harry Reid with (BuzzFlash once wrote an editorial about how Harry Reid thought Scalia so brilliant he might consider voting for him for Chief Justice at the time -- such is the sad mindset of our Democratic Majority Leader) -- asserts that there is nothing in the Constitution that prevents an innocent per ...
Clarence Thomas .. the man on the Supreme Court who doesn't speak. He has a conflict of interest in every decision he makes. Time for someone to bring him to court. Wish the Justice Department would take him to court ... may be time for private citizens to sue him.
I swear I thought the Anita Hill thing kept Clarence Thomas off the Supreme Court. Yet when I Wiki Supreme Court, there he is. Who knew?
Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia have disgraced the office of Justice of the Supreme Court and by right should be impeached and removed.
I’m Lynn Woolley with your Logic Minute for 3/22/12 If ever there was a law that deserved a nine- nothing Supreme Court ruling – the Affordable health Care Act is it. The High Court is going to rule on whether the Federal Government can essentially control our lives through a takeover of medicine. This is the most important court decision in decades. And yet, it will NOT be decided on law or the Constitution. It will be decided on ideology. The four liberal members of the Court – including two appointed by President Obama – will likely vote their politics, with total disregard for the law. Justice Clarence Thomas never votes for expansion of Congressional power. That leaves four members of the Court – to include the moderate Kennedy and the originalist Scalia. If one of them joins the four rubber-stamp liberals, we’ve got government healthcare. But even if the Court approves the law, it should be nine to nothing, based on the Constitution.
