Best weekend ever. Got off to a great start when Hannah Marie Grantham treated Edd Graham and me to rib-eye steak sandwiches at Friday's Northeast Jones football game as we cheered them on to victory over Quitman, then Andrew Grantham surprised us by coming home to support US Rep. Steven Palazzo at the service academy day at USM on Saturday, and Sarah Grantham was in on the surprise assisting with his transportation so we got to see her too. Ate pot roast with the Grahams Saturday afternoon, then practiced with The Down South Band Saturday night for our gig next weekend, then headed with Robin Grantham down to New Orleans. Started Sunday morning in Jackson Square eating beignets for breakfast, checked out the artists and performers in front of the cathedral, then walked over to the Superdome to watch the New Orleans Saints beat the Bucs. Ended the afternoon with ridiculously awesome food at Red Fish Grill, then got home and found the laundry had been done. The weather was perfect to boot.

No turning back! At a time when America also may be poised to put the Senate back in Republican hands where, if victorious, Thad Cochran would become chairman of the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee, let's also keep Congressman Steven Palazzo as part of the majority in the House of Representatives, and keep moving forward! Steven Palazzo has been a lifelong Republican, ranked one of the most conservative congressmen in the nation; supports a balanced budget amendment; serves on the Armed Services Committee and its subcommittees on Readiness and Sea Power & Project Forces; also serves on the Science, Space and Technology Committee where he chairs the subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics. He is endorsed by the NRA and Governor Phil Bryant; is a US Marine Corps veteran; the only active enlisted member of the National Guard in Congress; pro-life, and has voted 50 times to repeal and stop the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, aka Obama Care. Vote for Congressman Steven Palazzo on June 3rd!

FEMA outlines next steps for flood insurance law WASHINGTON – March 27, 2014 – In testimony before a U.S. House subcommittee, Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) Administrator Craig Fugate talked about the timing of implementation. He suggested that homeowners and buyers be patient – it may take awhile for the law’s mandates to filter down to insurance agents. President Obama signed the flood insurance law on Friday, but FEMA has up to eight months to develop guidance for insurance companies, according to Lisa Jones, a consultant hired by the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) to navigate the complicated law. And after FEMA solidifies the new rules, insurers have up to six months to retool their software. Rep. Steven Palazzo, vice chairman of the House Subcommittee on Emergency Preparedness, Response, and Communications, asked Fugate at a hearing yesterday if there was a way to fast-track the process. According to Fugate, the first step is to explain the grandfathering clause ...

To all you folks who voted for Steven Palazzo in the last election, Thank you. He voted to allow insurance companies ( who have recently enjoyed record profits ) to raise our homeowner rates, here on the coast. How did you guys know that your felloow citizens and friends want to send "more" money to insurance companies. Thanks.
Mississippi Representative Steven Palazzo dropped by Aero One, LLC, to give the EAA - Young Eagles Kids a talk on the importance of American Aerospace Technology.
I'm not a TeaParty type, so my representative, Steven Palazzo, will not answer my question. So I call on my friends on the right to help me find an answer. Rep Palazzo is an advocate of maintaining federal subsidies to flood insurance for private home owners. Federal money paid to homeowners to assist in their purchase of insurance. Yet he opposes federal subsidies for insurance if the thing being subsidized is health insurance for human beings. I mean subsidies to buy insurance. Why is it so proper to subsidize some insurance, but not other. Larry Holt, Carl Crawford

I so love how liberal(so-called progressives), love to spout about their right to free speech when they say something questionable. Yet when Representative Steven Palazzo comment on his religious beliefs about homosexuality,(not one bit was hateful or came under the liberal made up term of homophobic), there have been protests and calls for his resignation. What happened to his right to free speech? No matter how you feel about ANY subject, you should be able to state your opinion without this kind of reprisal. EVERYBODY has the right to free speech, so long as it is not a threat to someone's well being(I am going to kill you!!), or hate speech against someone race, religion, or social or private orientation.
Per Congressman Steven Palazzo : Have you read about my work to keep flood insurance affordable and available to those who need it? Were you aware that a recent budget agreement significantly cut spending for the fourth year in a row? Did you know that the Congressional Budget Office released a report this week showing that ObamaCare will shrink the workforce by 2.5 million? How do you feel about streamlining and simplifying the tax code?
If you want Steven Palazzo out of Congress, then vote him out the first time he is up for election this year! Vote Tavish Kelly for Congress
I wonder if Congressman Steven Palazzo could help with this?
It is most unfortunate that Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-Miss., continues to abide by his comments that LGBT values are distinct from the way we behave here in Mississippi, which is why I joined the march on his downtown Gulfport office to refute his assumption that he speaks for all of us.
It is strictly my opinion that Steven Palazzo and the thing we call our governor, should move in together with their wives and just enjoy wallowing in ignorance, hate, prejudice. I know I'll take a lot of negative hits on this, like I care. I have no patience for people like that.

Also. While I'm in a controversial mood, Steven Palazzo is the scum of the earth.
I will be surprised if there is any kind of positive reaction from Steven Palazzo.
I have tried to e-mail Steven Palazzo and also send him a message on fb. Interesting, once I enter enough information, it cuts me off. I was giving him facts about his constituents, and telling him it is his responsible to represent all his people in this district. He seems to be nothing more than a good ole boy redneck. I am devout Catholic. I was trying to tell him that he might need to take a course in American Government, asking his if he has ever heard of separation of Church and State. I doubt that he can be man enough to offer an apology, but I do believe that if he can't represent everyone, he needs to be voted out. I'm sure many will disagree, but that's a wonderful thing about our country. We can express our opinions.
An Update on Flood Insurance Reform - Over the last several months, I've been working to provide flood insurance relief to homeowners by delaying drastic increases and enacting more compassionate reforms than the ones homeowners currently face. I also believe we must continue holding FEMA accountable for the flawed and inconsistent way the agency is implementing Biggert-Waters 2012. Since I first introduced legislation last year to address these issues, the momentum for flood insurance reform has been building. Right now, I am working closely with House leadership to bring legislation to a vote on the House floor. I co-authored the language for a delay that was signed into law with the recent budget bill. And the Senate recently acted on measures to further delay rates. Flood insurance relief is on the way. There are those who continue to say this is only a problem for wealthy, waterfront homeowners. There are those who say it is reasonable for rates to increase drastically overnight. There are those wh . ...

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!! We had an amazing turn out today, we estimate that 100 people were in attendance and we even picked up one along the way. We were all so overwhelmed by all of the support. Be sure to watch for us tonight at 5:30 on WXXV and at 5, 6 and 10 on WLOX. Also look for us in the Sun Herald later this week. We must thank Ellis Pickle for allowing us to use his bar as our meeting point, you're a precious man. Also, The Dandelion Project, Omega Mississippi and New Orleans Pride, thank you for being a part of this and helping to bring our community together. And a big wet kiss thank you to Ramontez Lowe of the Mississippi Pride March page for being the fire of inspiration that he is and for making this moment in history happen. There are so many to thank right now, but most of all we must thank Rep. Steven Palazzo without whom none of this would be possible. This was the first march, but not the last.

As a catholic and a conservative republican, I stand by Steven Palazzo. No one should shoot down or mock anyone else's beliefs. True ignorance is believing that someone's opposing opinion is wrong. Different people live by different standards.

People are sick of Steven Palazzo. As soon as I'm an official candidate, I'll know more re: a primary b4 big 2014 election.
For the late shift, I'm raising $200 to pay the candidate fee 2run4 Congress in 2014, Mississippi's 4th district -- to oust Steven Palazzo!
What a wonderful end to our three year mission! Over 1,000 people attended our Grand Reunion Gala. Thank you emcee Kipp Greggory, Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, Governor Phil Bryant, Congressman Steven Palazzo, Wings Performing Arts from Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, Max Gammons and State Representative Charles Busby for his stirring patriotic medley. We appreciate all those that volunteered, as well as those who attended. It was a great day!
Congressman Steven Palazzo voted for this! He is not a true conservative! He is spineless RINO!!
Today is our final event of Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight. Our Grand Reunion Gala. Veterans and guardians from all seven flights reunite to celebrate! Governor Phil Bryant, Congressman Steven Palazzo and Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann will all speak. What a joy this three year journey has been. I am so blessed to have been a part of something so wonderful. It's always been about the WWII veterans, but none of them could have gotten as much out of it as I have. I love my veteran friends and my Honor Flight family!
Steven Palazzo FB page is bashing Obama for not using under God in the Gettysburg speech today---when the president did not even care enough to be there. I wish we had some smart people in Washington. Bring Taylor back.
This is sick ! Veterans ae enemy animals rights activist are the enemy special interest groups are the enemy ? No wonder DHS treats american citizen the way they do ! Steven Palazzo
Great to see Steven Palazzo feels this way!!! Wish he could figure out his family is no different than mine!!! Family's come in many forms Mr. Congressman !
Tuesday, October 22, 2013 WEBSITE | FORWARD TO A FRIEND | SHARE ON: Palazzo Condemns Arms Trade Treaty Friends, As your representative, I wholeheartedly support the right to bear arms. This God-given right is one of the most important rights enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Unbelievably, however, the Obama Administration is seeking to circumvent Congress and undermine the Second Amendment. Last month, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty. Among its provisions, the treaty would establish a national control system to identify and monitor American’s use of firearms. Under the Constitution, it is now the Senate’s sole duty to ratify or reject the treaty. I believe the ratification of the U.N. Arms Trade Treaty would violate your Second Amendment right to bear arms and would undermine America’s sovereignty. We cannot allow foreign governments the ability to impose their restrictive gun control laws that do nothing but take away your right to defend yourself and yo ...
Today I received a typed letter from Steven Palazzo in response to my email. I can't remember which furlough I wrote him about.
Last night Jan and I went to the Salute to the Military event at the Gulf Coast Coliseum. Almost 1,000 people attended and it felt pretty good to be back in uniform for a couple of hours. The guest of honor and main speaker was the Commandant of the Marine Corp, and General Amos saluted those who have served and are currenly serving our nation. (General Amos' wife is from Biloxi). It was interesting to note that less than 1% of the population have served in the military. Other speakers included Rep. Steven Palazzo and Gov. Phil Bryant. Each year there are fewer and fewer attendees who fought in WWII. Just a handful were there last night but they were very much appreciated with much applause. It is a very patriotic event, and well worth the effort to attend.and the food was pretty good, too!
Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight was recognized at the 35th Annual "Salute to the Military" event last night at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center for our work with WWII veterans. Congressman Steven Palazzo presented our organization with a check for $10,000. Governor Phil Bryant and General James Amos, Commandant of the Marines Corps, also participated. Many of our past veterans were in attendance too. We were honored to be a part of this wonderful program.

Don't miss the Salute to the Military 5K Run tomorrow morning at 8am. Proceeds benefit Mississippi Gulf Coast Honor Flight. Thanks to Congressman Steven Palazzo, Gulfport Mayor Billy Hewes and the City of Gulfport for their support of the state's WWII veterans.
U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo, R-4, appears to be taking a hit from the Tea Party, even though he was among those who supported until the end a Tea Party-backed movement that sparked the government shutdown.
Unbowed and unbroken --by digby They're still kicking: Mississippi State Sen. Chris McDaniel (R) jumped into the Senate race for Sen. Thad Cochran's (R-MS) seat on Thursday and was immediately endorsed by two prominent conservative organizations. McDaniel had been floating a primary challenge to either Cochran or Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS) prior to his announcement. Tea Party groups in the state support McDaniel and within minutes the Senate Conservatives Fund, Club for Growth, and Madison Project offered their endorsements.
OK, one more thing and then I'm going to chill on the politics. But I've been reading the comments to a statement made by Representative Steven Palazzo, about how he "stood firm" and voted against the spending bill that Congress (thankfully) passed yesterday. People are actually congratulating this clown for voting to keep our government shut down. They're making comments about how we're "swimming in debt", which is apparently more important than helping to save human lives. Meanwhile, this circus sideshow has cost us $24 billion (so far), and they didn't change a thing. Now look, I know we're all smart people here. I know we can't continue accruing so much debt. However, I fail to see what is so scary about Obamacare. Granted, it's not perfect, as so few first attempts are, but if you don't make that first attempt, you'll never set a point upon which you can improve. Nobody comes up with the perfect plan right out of the gate. For one thing, all the speculation in the world can't make up for rea ...
WHOA! I SCREWED UP. I looked at the wrong date for voting results. Both of our senators voted YES to pass the bill. Shame on our two senators. My info on our representatives voting record was correct.another word of thanks to Congressman Steven Palazzo for voting on principle. I'm leaving my original post because I'm not trying to cover my tracks. I screwed up and provided misinformation, so I feel that it should remain s originally posted: According to Govtrack.us, both MS. senators voted no and 2 of our 4 of our congressmen voted no. Of the two reps that voted yes, one was a republican. Congressman Greg Harper of the 3rd district crossed party lines and played politics. I'm glad that I'm not in his district. Again, I am very proud to have Congressman Palazzo representing my voice in D.C.
Mississippi U.S. Reps. Steven Palazzo and Alan Nunnelee voted against a resolution Wednesday night that ended the 16-day partial government shutdown.
I propose something to anyone out there listening. Let's just vote in new guys to Washington. A good ole fashioned blood letting. DO NOT vote for Roger Wicker, Greg Harper, Bennie Thompson, Steven Palazzo, Alan Nunnelee, or Thad Cochran in 2014 or their next election cycle. If you are a republican or democrat and want to stay that way, vote these guys out in the primary. Let's have a full overturn. Heck, can't really be much worse than these clowns.
Alan Nunnelee and Steven Palazzo voted against ending the shutdown this morning. Lets try to not re-elect them to represent the state of Mississippi again.
Just read this. To be fair, I have received a response from Mr Steven Palazzo from my previous question, to which I will be responding today. I have never met him. I have met Mr Taylor on numerous occasions and know that he is an outstanding person
Read in the paper this morning that Gene Taylor is thinking of running again. By the way: Steven Palazzo voted to continue the shutdown. Gregg Harper, the republican from central Mississippi, voted to open the government.
I want to thank Steve Scivally for pointing me to the summaries of House vote tallies. Now I know that my representative, Steven Palazzo, voted against the CR/Debt Ceiling bill last night. Sadly, he'll probably get re-elected over that, but he sure won't have any help from me.
Just notified my Congressman Steven Palazzo not to cave and to vote not on the Continuing Resolution.
NO NO NO NO! The republicans that concede to raise the debt ceiling AND pass the affordable health care act are driving the ox further into the ditch. I'll be tracking the voting record at Govtrack.us and Mr. Steven Palazzo...if you vote yes, you sir will not receive my support in any future political aspirations. Stand your ground on principle only, if nothing else. You sent me a message several days ago and said that you planned on standing strong. Well, it's time to see. PLEASE get your constituents to hold their ground. I'm tired of the government selling our souls to China to float loans that we can't pay. MAKE IT STOP!
There was a time the United States of America DID NOT negotiate with terrorists. Following is a list comprised of the NEW FACES of DOMESTIC TERRORISM. They were put into the US House of Representatives and US Senate by people who are every bit as ignorant, narrow-minded and bigoted. All present a grave anger to the rest of us as witnessed by the past two weeks' high-jacking of the US Government by many on the list. Stop the madness. Stand up for what is right. Just heard on the radio that it was Congressman Steven Palazzo who assisted the honor flight veterans in getting past the barricades to be able to view the World War II monument. Just want to say, he WILL continue to have my vote! God Bless America and God bless Steven Palazzo!
Coming up - World War II vets turned away from visiting their monument but Congressman Steven Palazzo - a former Marine - led an effort to move those barricades and let them in. He joins us. And those Obamacare exchanges are open for business - so how can you avoid getting scammed? Former MLB all star - Kenny Lofton weighs in on A-Rod and the post season. Who's going to the world series? Plus - Ann Romney is here with her new book. And country star Tyler Farr performs live. That's coming up on the next hour of Fox and Friends!

Spencer Bachus, AL and Sen. Roger Wicker, MS. I salute you all for your efforts this morning in getting the WWII Memorial opened to the Honor Flight Veterans this morning on the Mall. These brave Americans deserve nothing less than the very best this country has and you showed it to them. As the daughter of a WWII vet that is no longer here to fight the brave fight, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
This is a question/suggestion I am posing to my friends and family around the country. In fact, to all Americans. Let's hold our Congressmen and women accountable. The only way to do that is to know who they are and how they are voting... and How it truly affects us. Starting today... we should MS - Senators Thad Cochran. Roger Wicker. U.S Representatives - Alan Nunnelee, Bennie G. Thompson, Greg Harper, Steven Palazzo. Congressman Thompson Voted FOR the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and AGAINST the defunding of the Affordable Care Act and against the Government Shutdown. He voted to keep the government operating. What did Nunnelee, Harper, and Palazzo do? It's your turn, America. Who are your representatives? How did they vote? How are you or those you know affected by their decision?

Congressman Steven Palazzo said, even though the nation is about $17 trillion in debt, Mississippi's healthy business market is helping the state do its part to reduce the deficit.
Good evening all of you Born Again Believers, i want to bring something to your attention, Steven Palazzo a Republican from Mississippi is trying to come up with a bill to stop people and businesses from being penalize if they don't purchase health insurance, mind you he is saying the government shouldn't have anything to do with whether purchase health insurance or not, listen to me very carefully, this is part of Obama Care, anything this President propose, he, and Governor Phill Bryant is totally against, but they all was for torte Reform, if a doctor kill you, or one of your love ones it is a limit on how much you or your family can receive if you sue them and win, on the other hand, they have no problem in making sure you have car insurance, and if you don't have it, you can go to jail, and or fined, the federal government has something to do with that, and no Mississippi politican has a problem with that, my question is is more important to insurance on, or your vechile, if your vechile dies you can ...

This just in: Cassidy/Grimm/Palazzo/Richmond Pass Amendment to Keep Flood Insurance Rates Low Today, Congressman Bill Cassidy, M.D., along with Representatives Grimm, Palazzo and Richmond, successfully amended the Fiscal Year 2014 Homeland Security Appropriations bill to block implementation of Section 207 in the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act. The amendment passed with overwhelming bipartisan support. Congressman Cassidy released the following statement: “This is a win for south Louisiana and the nation. The reforms under the Biggert-Waters Act have created flood insurance rates which could destroy south Louisiana homes. They would also be devastating for coastal communities around the country. “This amendment will block those rate increases and give us time to carefully modify the Biggert-Waters Act. It is important to have a self-sustaining flood insurance program. However, it must account for the flood protections throughout south Louisiana that make massive flood insurance rates unnece ...

Why are the retards @ Fox so quiet regarding the Oklahoma Disaster ?? Could it be: 67 Repoopblican who voted no for relief funds for victims of Hurricane Sandy. Friday, Congress finally approved a $9.7 billion package to pay flood insurance claims from Hurricane Sandy. The measure was supposed to come to a vote earlier in the week, but was tabled by House Speaker John Boehner, drawing much criticism from both Democrats andhis fellow Republicans alike. The measure passed unanimously through the Senate, but 67 members of the House of Representatives voted "no" to assisting people who were left, at best, powerless or homeless by a hurricane in November. All 67 are Republicans: Justin Amash (R-MI) Andy Barr (R-KY) Dan Benishek (R-MI) Kerry Bentivolio (R-MI) Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) Mo Brooks (R-AL) Paul Broun (R-GA) Steve Chabot (R-OH) Doug Collins (R-GA) Mike Conaway (R-TX) Tom Cotton (R-AR) Steve Daines (R-MT) Ron DeSantis (R-FL) Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) Sean Duffy (R-WI) Jeff Duncan (R ...

Palazzo Grimani, a unique work of architecture and decoration, was built as the urban residence of a powerful and cultured Venetian family, avant-garde collectors and patrons of the arts. The Grimani family had a particular predilection for classical sculpture and for non-Venetian artists, as demonstrated by their inventories which record the works by Flemish and Dutch painters in their collections, or as documented by the decoration of their home, which boasts stuccoes and frescoes by important artists from the Tuscan-Roman culture such as Giovanni da Udine, Francesco Salviati and Federico Zuccari. FYI "The annual observance of Memorial Day originated with Civil War widows seeking to honor fallen soldiers on both sides of the battlefield. First known as “Decoration Day”, women all across the nation would visit graves of soldiers to lay flowers and pay tribute to lives lost. To this day, the Civil War claims the largest American combat casualties; between the years 1861-1865, more than 600,000 lost their lives. It is also worth noting that each and every single battle was fought on U.S. soil or waters. Any farmer’s field was forever marked as hallowed ground, and some of the bloodiest battles took place in Mississippi. Wars in the 20th century were also particularly devastating: in World War I, the U.S. lost more than 100,000 soldiers in just one year, and more than 400,000 lives were lost in World War II between 1941-1945. The “Greatest Generation” has been hailed for its service and sacrifice, but these men and women also knew great sorrow and suffering. For every veteran that makes a tr ...
Another reminder that federal aid and first responders will always be needed, whether it's in New York City, New Orleans, Joplin, Seaside Heights, West, Boston, Oklahoma City, or where ever the next incident occurs. Dr. Joe Paul has experience working with the state of Mississippi, the IHL system, and our university. One of the main jobs of the president is to work with the Mississippi State Legislature and U.S. Congress, in order for the university to receive the funding it needs to continue to move forward. This is especially important as we are beginning to build a new business building and soon to start construction on a nursing building. Dr. Paul has worked, for years, with local, state, and federal legislators including Gov. Phil Bryant, Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves, Sen. Thad Cochran, Sen. Roger Wicker, Rep. Steven Palazzo, Rep. Gregg Harper, Rep. Benny Thompson, and Rep. Alan Nunnelee. He already has the confidence of these individuals, which would take an outsider years to gain--a financial loss for Southern Miss.

Palazzo's stand on disaster relief embarrassing By Willard Tucker, Citizen Associated Press CARRIERE — U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo's recent vote against funding to pay flood insurance claims of Sandy victims should provoke embarrassment and disgust in Mississippians irrespective of individual politics. His rationalization for this hypocritical and mean-spirited vote was that America needs to have a national discussion about disaster relief. Tell that to the thousands of people in the Northeast who lost everything in this major storm. When the district Palazzo now represents was devastated by Katrina, he of course lobbied for immediate financial assistance in his then capacity of chief financial officer for the Biloxi Public Housing Authority. Mississippians are much better people than this. Palazzo, who continues to defend this act of transparent political posturing, has become a public embarrassment and liability. Let us hope that he draws solid opposition in the 2014 primaries and/or general election, an ...

Blue America--At this point you have to either be an unreconstructed Southerner or a Michele Bachmann constituent to not understand that the Republican congressional strategy is to undermine the United States and cause as many people as possible as much pain as they can. House Republicans aren't even hiding it any longer. That's because of gerrymandering. Their districts have been drawn so precisely to exclude anyone who hasn't been brainwashed by Fox, that no matter what normal people think about GOP treachery, the congressmen leading and enabling it can be reelected forever and ever. It doesn't matter that militia extremist Steve Stockman (R-TX) was involved in the Oklahoma City bombing, his constituents love him and 165,388 of them gave him a 71% win. South Mississippi's Steven Palazzo says he'll be 'point person' on disaster-relief reform | Sun Herald |
Everyone needs to read the two Letters to the Editor in today's Sun Herald regarding Steven Palazzo. No truer words have ever been spoken, in my opinion. Such an embarrassment for the State of MS. He's just a puppet for other larger corporations and its finally showing how much of a mistake it was to replace Gene Taylor with Palazzo. Lord help us when we look for help after the next hurricane comes blowing thru the coast. And we all know it will happen!!
U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo toured areas of the Jersey shore and Staten Island for the first time to view Sandy hurricane damage Tuesday, after the backlash over his vote against funding for the National Flood Insurance Program last week.
By Jim Cameron - email SPONSORED INFORMATION We join with our sister station on the Coast, WLOX, and a lot of other South Mississippians in condemning our Congressman, Steven Palazzo for voting against the Hurricane Sandy relief bill which passed the U.S. House. The $10-Billion aid package will help shore up the National Flood Insurance Program and help New Jersey and New York residents who were insured and flooded. A larger bill will be considered later this month—but they need help now. By voting against the Sandy relief, Palazzo basically said South Mississippi doesn't care. While we agree that the National Flood Insurance Program must be revamped…but these people need help now and should not be penalized by those who would hold them ransom to playing politics. When Hurricane Katrina slammed into Mississippi, New York's congressional delegation came here and saw our need for themselves. But has Palazzo even been to New York or New Jersey? Federal aid was essential to our recovery after Katrin ...

Rep. Steven Palazzo's vote against Sandy relief through the National Flood Insurance Program was already getting national attention. But it will likely reach a new level with Jon Stewart joining in the debate last night. What are your thoughts on The Daily Show singling out Palazzo?
Mississippi's 4th District Congressman, Steven Palazzo, was among 67 House members on Friday to vote against a relief package for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.
House Republicans scorn Sandy victims congress took just 10 days to approve $50 million in aid for Katrina victims in 2005. All of the no votes were cast by House Republicans, including failed GOP vice presidential candidate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin. Also voting NO were House members who hail from states that received billions in Hurricana Katrina aid, stingy pols like Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama; Rep. Steven Palazzo of Biloxi, Miss.; Reps. Ted Yoho and Ron DeSantis of Florida, and Rep. John Fleming of Louisiana. Paul Broun, Doug Collins, Tom Graves, Tom Price and Rob Woodall — all reps from hurricane-prone Georgia — also voted no. So did Joe Wilson, *** Mulvaney and Jeffrey Duncan, congressmen from oft storm-threatened South Carolina, and John Weber, who represents coastal Texas.

Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS) voted against relief for victims of Hurricane Sandy last week, TPM reports, "despite representing coastal Mississippi, one of the regions hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina and a top beneficiary of Katrina disaster aid." In fact, Palazzo "was deeply involved in pressing for federal dollars in the fall of 2005. Then acting in his role as a local government official, Palazzo repeatedly appealed for federal funding to help rebuild his battered coastal Mississippi community in the wake of Hurricane Katrina."
Rep. Steven Palazzo, who voted against Sandy relief last week, pleaded for federal dollars after Hurricane Katrina in 2005:

COPIED from a cousin - my feelings exactly - we need to do whatever we can to stop these people: ..Worried about proposed legislation against gun rights. Pres. says do the "right thing to help save our children", which interpreted means taking away gun rights. Like gun owners don't want to help save our children? I thought there was supposed to be discussion about alternatives and research about effective solutions. I would like to apologize to all of those in the northeast affected by Hurricane Sandy for the vote against federal aid by South Mississippi Congressman Steven Palazzo. Bless his heart! I know that yall have been waiting 2 months on assistance! Steven Palazzo obviously lacks the qualities of a true statesman, is an uncompassionate *** and has a short term memory problem as he seems to have forgotten the federal aid and millions of volunteer hours and private donations the south received following Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill. I had a stray dog like him once, ungrateful, illogical, and unpredictable. After a few years I realized that it was not the dogs fault, his behavior was simply the result of poor breeding. So, to those effected by Sandy, just know that our Congressman cannot help being the partisan POS he is. I just hope God has more mercy on him than he has on others.
I want to know why insurance companies aren't responsible for pay outs to those who are "insured?" We know that insurance companies have taken insurance premiums, invested the money, and have decided the federal government should pay. So, in essence, another bail out. Insurance companies should go bankrupt paying the insured what's, by contract, owed them. Why do tax payers continue to rescue for-profit corporations? The corporations take a risk to be in business, and they should pay if their risks are greater than profits. I'm not heartless towards Americans who lose their houses. But I think we should be heartless towards companies who are run by heartless Americans. Heartless "public servants" should also be dealt with heartlessly: kick the Congress of Baboons out! _ Widow mother of firemen outraged at politicians who voted 'no' to Hurricane Sandy relief bill: 'Absolutely disgraceful' Compounding Maureen Haskell’s anger is the fact that she has paid years of premiums on her flood insurance ...
Maybe Steven Palazzo and his "Christian" followers should read this quote. Whose disaster assistance would Jesus deny?
More on the Fiscal Cliff today: "I am still disappointed Congressional Republicans would not support a broader deficit reduction agreement. President Obama negotiated with Republicans in good faith in an effort to reach a grand bargain. I would have preferred to vote on a broader deal that reduced our deficit in a balanced way so that the next Congress could focus on investing in our future." -- Price, David (North Carolina, 4th District, D) “Washington has an incurable addiction to borrowing and spending. Slipping another $330 billion in deficit spending into a last minute take it or leave it proposition is unacceptable and it sells future generations of Americans short. None of us would steal from our children and grandchildren, and we should stop letting the federal government do it as well." -- Posey, Bill (Florida, 15th District, R) "It's the arrogance of power that Congress spends the people's money without regard to how this obsession affects those very people." -- Poe, Ted (Texas, 2nd District, ...
Rep. Steven Palazzo voted against providing funding of federal aid to victims of Sandy. Rep. Steven Palazzo voted in favor of a House rules package which continued funding of the legal defense of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a legal defense which (after spending millions of taxpayer dollars) has suffered 6 defeats and has been determined to have little chance of being found constitutional. Where the *** is his head?
Friends in Mississippi, and Alabama you may want think upon this ... 4th district Congressman Steven Palazzo voted against the Sandy relief bill, crying that there was too much "pork" in it. Now notice he did not make the effort to reduce said "pork", he just voted against it. You are paying this congressman $174,000 +/-annually to represent your interests. Remember Camille, Betsy...Palazzo isn't old enough to know the absolute devastation those storms wrought. We wont even bring up Katrina and what happened to Waveland/Bay St Louis!
In one of the most immature and selfish acts in recent memory, Rep. Steven Palazzo voted against Hurricans Sandy relief yesterday. His lame and flimsy excuses won't hold water with people in South Mississippi.
My post on Steven Palazzo's FB Page - I encourage anyone who hasn't done so to let him know what you think. The idea that NY/NJ/CT would not have supported us after Katrina is crazy and of any state we should be doing the same, politics are not needed right now. "I can not believe you would vote against Sandy relief, regardless of what you considered "pork". I have read the highlights of the request and don't see much port, I see infrastructure spending, tourism assistance, and community block grants. Even if there were a few items you considered "pork" can you honestly say that there was not "pork" in the many many Katrina relief bills. We all know there was overspending in Katrina and that we need to be careful going forward but HOW DARE YOU make this political. Sixty-seven Republicans voted against sending much needed relief to Hurricane Sandy victims. One of them was Steven Palazzo, a man who surely understands the effects of the devastation they are facing. Shame on him.
Rep. Steven Palazzo (R-MS), who represents coastal Mississippi, in the heart of Katrina devastation, voted ‘No’ for Sandy relief. How can he justify that position?
U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo said he is working with his staff on legislation to cut spending, and plans to reach out to other congress members for support, so the next bill for Hurricane Sandy relief will include spending cuts to offset the cost.

In case you missed the news congress finally appropriated the Hurricane Sandy relief money for our fellow countrymen on the east coast. However our esteemed congressmen Steven Palazzo voted AGAINST the bill. When news anchor Jeff Lawson ask him "congressman if Hurricane Sandy had hit the Gulf Coast would you have voted against the bill" without answering yes or no he went into a dissertation about cutting spending. After the money that was poured into our state immediately after Katrina this is how we repay our countrymen. Makes me Sick!
As someone who helped direct millions to Katrina ravaged Biloxi I'm saddened by Congressman Steven Palazzo for voting against Sandy aid bill. We also brought ex 9/11 firefighters to help rebuild in his district. Some of whom are homeless due to Sandy. Congrats Steve.
Please let Steven Palazzo know your opinions on his no vote for Sandy relief...you can email him on his website. It seems like a great opportunity for feedback for him.
Steven Palazzo represents the MS Gulf Coast which was hit by Katrina. He voted no on Sandy $ and he's on the Science Committee.
Just checked out the Republican no votes on the bill for relief for Hurricane Sandy victims. It did pass. But I am actually astonished that our congressman from Ms., Steven Palazzo voted no on this bill. I can't even put into words the disgust I feel that he voted this way. Everyone in Mississippi should be holding their heads in shame at this action. We got emergency aid in 10 days. They will get their aid, but for this man of all men to cast his vote this way is unforgiveable. How could any politician for one say no, much less one from our state. I hope everyone remembers this come next election day. I for one plan to call his office about this an inform him of my disappointment.
I am ashamed of my Congressman Steven Palazzo for voting against Hurricane Sandy relief aid. What an embarrassment.
I find it...not quite sure of the word I'm seeking, feel free to offer one up below...that Steven Palazzo, who represents Mississippi's Fourth Congressional District, would vote against the Sandy relief bill. Especially since his district received funding in the Katrina relief bill. So a natural disaster affects your constituency, and it's OK to get funding, but some other part of the country gets hit with a natural disaster? To quote Eric Cartman, "Screw you guys, I'm going home." This just doesn't sit well with me.
They don't hate us. We don't even consider in their thoughts and plans (beyond votes). We're in their way.
So just this morning the House passed a Sandy relief bill that is only about one-third of the financial aid they proposed (but left on the table) just a couple of weeks ago, and one of our state's Congressmen (Nunnelee) STILL voted 'No'. What a ***
