Interesting story here about Stephen Hunt's potential move from 2008. Have to few for him a bit! Very Professional about what he did; Then Everton boss David Moyes had planned a £3m move for Hunt in the January 2008 transfer window but Reading rejected the move, something which Hunt says he could have done more about as he was desperate to come to Goodison Park. Hunt said, “Sometimes you get nothing by being nice. I didn’t kick up a fuss at Reading but I went and spoke to the chief executive. I screamed, I did everything I could to get to Everton. “I was driving around on deadline day trying to speak to people because I knew they were interested. “Reading wanted to hold on to me and Steve Coppell knew I wouldn’t be a sulker but sometimes I wish I’d thrown my toys out of the pram. Looking back on it, sometimes I regret not doing whatever it took.” Thoughts? Jay

Steve Coppell is being considered for his fifth top job at Crystal Palace - this time as director of football. DAILY STAR SUNDAY
Freestyle Paper talk: LONDON EVENING STANDARD Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has warned Arsenal the strength of their title challenge will be determined by their results against their direct rivals after claiming they've had an easy run of games so far this season. Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish will speak to Neil Warnock and Steve Coppell about who should be the club's next manager - but says there is no chance of either of them taking the job. Rob Green has revealed he wants to commit his long-term future to Queens Park Rangers. Chelsea are optimistic that Ashley Cole is winning his battle to recover from a rib injury in time to face title rivals Manchester City on Sunday. West Ham midfielder Mark Noble believes he can force himself into Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad for Brazil. MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS Manchester United say they are planning to repeat their 'Singing Section' in more games this season after hailing the response to it in the Sociedad game. Manchester City's Yaya Toure has warned t ...
I now understand that Steve Coppell is in contention for the Crystal Palace manager's job along with Tony Pulis and Neil Warnock.
Paper Round: Palace to approach Pulis Tony Pulis is set to take over at Crystal Palace; Yaya Toure calls for tough sanctions against those who racially abused him; and Tottenham will look to sign Christian Benteke this summer - here are the main stories from today's newspapers. Palace job Pulis's to turn down: Tony Pulis "will be approached" over the Crystal Palace manager’s job vacated by Ian Holloway on Wednesday, reports The Independent. The paper claims that the former Stoke boss will be spoken to over the next 24 hours by Palace co-chairman Steve Parish, who had said that Pulis's record of never having been relegated from the Premier League makes him an attractive prospect for the managerial hot-seat at Selhurst Park. Parish could also potentially speak to former managers Steve Coppell and Neil Warnock about a director of football role Paper Round's view: Parish's comments do indeed suggest that the job is Pulis's to turn down and, considering he has been out of work since the back end of last seas ...

David Moyes, please don't screw up united's season. Don't play Valencia when u don't have fast n strong wing-backs to support him, wait for Raphael to come back, also you play Young only when you have goal poachers lurking in penalty boxes like RVP and Henandez ...he's a little bit like Gerd Muller aka der bomber You bought and play Felliani...for what? You already have classy players like Kagawa and don't use them, you have combative midfielders like Anderson if you want the rough, tumble and hustle game play in midfield. At least tommy Doherty in the mid 70s and late 70s had classy players and used them to the max..check the history books of Man Utd...I enjoyed growing up as a school boy watching the likes of Gerry Daly, Sammy McIIroy, Lou MacAri, Stuart Pearson, Gordon Hill, Steve Coppell, Martin Buchan, Brian Greenhoff all play with class..cheap some more..not pay 27m pounds for a gollywogs! Motherwell's Stuart McCall to open talks with Sheffield United about their managerial vacancy in the next 24 hours.
Sad to hear of the death of Brian Greenhoff ex Man Utd & England Centre Back aged only 60 . Had a fantastic defensive partnership with Martin Buchan at the centre of United's defence in the mid / late 70s . United played with two out and out wingers in those (which was unfashionable at the time) , but made United v exciting to watch. Greenhoff and Buchan would start attacks by feeding the ball to Steve Coppell and Gordon Hill on the wings , who mercilessly tormented opposing full backs . (City also tried the same tactic with the comparatively inferior Peter Barnes and Dennis Tueart ) . RIP Brian . Your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
if all the rumours are true then Harry comming to Brighton is fantastic news.. he was lined up to be the England Manager...

SOLBAKKEN SHOULD OF HAD MORE TIME: Kevin Doyle today admitted for the first time that Wolves’ players didn’t have enough time or patience with sacked boss Stale Solbakken. Over seven weeks on from his dismissal, Wolves are languishing in the bottom three without a win in 12 games, with replacement Dean Saunders so far unable to prevent the slide. Doyle believes the players are paying the price for not doing enough under the Norwegian. “I really liked Stale; it was tough – I compared it to Brendan Rodgers taking over from Steve Coppell at Reading,” he said. “He tried to change how the team played and got sacked, but look where he is now. “With Stale it was very similar – he tried to get us playing and maybe we didn’t have the players or we didn’t have the time and patience to get into that mode. “There can be resistance to change; some people want to play one way, some want to play another and some enjoy one manager’s training and others don’t. “But you have to think bigger than ...

Something we should know about Brendan Rodgers. Brendan Rodgers (born 26 January 1973) is a Northern Irish former footballer who is currently in the midst of moving from being the manager of Swansea City to that of Liverpool. Rodgers began his career as a footballer at Ballymena United before moving to Reading, where an injury forced him to retire at the age of 20. He stayed at Reading as a youth team coach before José Mourinho invited him to join Chelsea as the manager of their youth team in 2004. He was promoted to reserve team manager in 2006. In November 2008, he was appointed manager of Watford, before moving back to Reading as manager following the resignation of Steve Coppell in June 2009. He left the club by mutual consent in December 2009, and returned to management with Swansea City in July 2010. The following year, he led Swansea City to become the first Welsh team to win promotion to the Premier League, and guided them to 11th in their debut season. In May 2012, he agreed a three-year deal to ...
