For me, Vincent Enyeama was the Man of The Match, Ahmed Musa showed great and fantastic improvement in his performance, Osaze Odemwingie played to instruction and as such, he was kind of passive in the game, while Mikel Obi was not in the game at all! Stephen Keshi still needs to get his tactics right; the defence needs to be tighter, and the attack needs more flexibility and versatility. Overall, it was a decent game!
Five Things Could Be Learnt From Nigeria's Victory Over Bosnia Super Eagles turned up to play and gave their all in securing the victory over Bosnia in their second game of 2014 World Cup. Keshi got his tactics right: Stephen Keshi unlike in his match against Iran seemed to have made the right selection against Bosnia. Michael Babatunde was a surprise inclusion in the starting eleven, and up until his substitution with suspected cramps justified his inclusion. Dropping Victor Moses paid off and so was the inclusion of Osaze Odemwingie in the starting eleven. There was a perfect blend and balance in the team that lined up against Bosnia... READ MORE:
“We are getting better with every game” – Keshi speaks on win against Bosnia: Stephen Keshi has expressed his relief, after the Super Eagles defeated Bosnia-Herzegovina 1-0 in their second Group F match on Saturday night. Stoke City striker Osaze Odemwingie, scored the only goal in the 29th minute, shortly after Edin Dzeko’s perfect strike was wrongly ruled out for offside. “I am happy that we won the game and the boys showed a little bit of character,” Keshi said after the game. The Big Boss also admitted that he was a bit nervous during the game, as the Eagles failed to double their tally, but insisted that the squad is getting better with each match. “Well, that is football. You can never have a smooth ride because you always have something on the way but the good thing is that we won and everyone is happy. “In summary, I will say we are getting better at every game.” Nigeria are on the brink of qualification and will face Argentina in the last group game on Wednesday at the Estadio B ...
Oga Stephen Keshi why complaining Osaze Odemwingie is not playing to instruction?I guess by now you have swallowed your accusation on him.
Stoke City striker Osaze Odemwingie could again be shut out from Nigeria first team after coach Stephen Keshi said he did not play to instructions when he was introduced in the second half against Iran. Osaze brought some urgency and creativity to the Eagles attack on Monday, but Keshi said the striker defied his instructions even though he was playing an unfamiliar role. Hum! Scope Keshi 'n fun Omo 9ja Oo.
Poor outing: Osaze failed to play to instruction says Keshi The no-love-lost relationship between Stephen Keshi and Stoke City wonder-boy Osaze Odemwingie that saw him nearly miss the World Cup is still very much in the team. Osaze had apologized to Keshi before he was recalled to the national team and to the World Cup but Keshi sacrificed Ike Uche, another red-hot Nigerian attacker who scores goals with eyes closed on charges of being ‘technically indisciplined”. And on a night that Keshi’s team were rudderless except for Osaze who brought vim and vitality to the attack, Keshi still threw potshots at Osaze for not playing to instructions. A journalist had complained about the blunt attack of the Eagles but singled out Osaze for bringing fire to the attack when Keshi bared his fangs on the Stoke City player. ‘’No. No, No. Osaze didn’t play well. What he played was not the role I asked him to play”, he said leaving many journalists bewildered. On a night that Emmanuel Emenike was a shadow of ...

After hours of waiting on Monday, Stephen Keshi released the final World Cup list at midnight. And as the drama and suspense that preceded the release, the list also came with some surprises. Joseph Yobo will play in his third Fifa World Cup finals and have opportunity to become Nigeria’s first-ever century — international after he was named in the African Champions’ final list of 23 for Brazil 2014 but African Nations Championship Most Valuable Player, Ejike Uzoenyi and AFCON winner, Sunday Mba failed to make the final cut. Gabriel Rueben and Babatunde Michael made the list. Also going to their third World Cup are goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide, but midfield strongman Mikel Obi will only be attending his first finals after Nigeria narrowly missed Germany 2006 and he was omitted from South Africa 2010 due to injury. Players of the Super Eagles have said they don’t envy Coach Stephen Keshi at this very difficult period. They said this after Nigeria’s pulsating 2-2 draw against the Tartan Army of Scotland on Wednesday at the Craven Cottage in London. A statement by the Media Officer of the team, Ben Alaya, reported the Team Skipper, Joseph Yobo, at the post match conference, as saying that if he was the coach, he would find it difficult to drop any of the players currently in the 30-man squad. “Nigeria is blessed with talents and that is why I think all the players here merit to be in Brazil, even when we have some other very good ones still hanging out. “If you watch the game against Scotland, you will know that the ‘Big Boss’ needs to be pitied over dropping players and picking those who will make the final 23. It will be tough,” Yobo said. Stoke City’s Osaze Odemwingie, on his part, said he was happy at the response of his teammates to his return to the national side. “But how do we drop players no ...

OSAZE Odemwingie has revealed that his relation with Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is "fine". "It (our relationship) is fine. We've been speaking. We're on good terms now,'' Odemwingie told Four Four Two. "Last time I spoke with him was when he arrived in Nigeria. I called him and wished him all the best, because it will not be an easy period for him since he has raised the bar high and our fans have tasted success," he revealed. Odemwingie also insists he's not a troublesome character, adding that it was wrong for people to single him out. "We are all different; there are no angels in the game. As stubborn as many people say players like Zlatan (Ibrahimovic) or Mario (Balotelli) are, they are big players. There are things about Messi that people don't know". "The discipline in sport is what you do on the pitch. An undisciplined player is one who comes to training late all the time, gets red cards all the time. All the things off the pitch are about your personality, and you can't please everyone. "Thi ...
Why NFF rejected Keshi’s provisional W’Cup list There are indications that the non inclusion of Captain Joseph Yobo, Osaze Odemwingie and Chinedu Obasi in the Super Eagles World Cup provisional list by Stephen Keshi was the reason why the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) refused to make public the list last week. According to Goal.com, these players were considered too experienced to be left out by coach, hence Keshi was asked to make “more consultations” before submitting the final list. Goal gathered from a top source that members of the Technical Committee were unhappy with Keshi’s decision to leave out Odemwingie, Obasi and Yobo, an action that attracted strong reactions. “We were shocked to discover that despite the fact that Keshi submitted close to a 40-man list, he still left out quality players like Osaze Odemwingie, Chinedu Obasi and captain of the team Joseph Yobo, players we all know are doing very well with their various clubs,” the source told Goal. “In as much as he defend ...

Stoke striker Osaze Odemwingie is keeping his fingers crossed for a World Cup call as he attempts to put a difficult year behind him. The 32-year-old endured a testing 2013 after finding himself on the periphery at former club West Brom following the collapse of a proposed deadline-day move to QPR before a brief and unsuccessful spell at Cardiff. However, he appears to have revived his career since joining the Potters in January, and having repaired his relationship with Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, with whom he had a very public fall-out in 2012, he has not given up hope of a summer trip to Brazil. Odemwingie told the Stoke Sentinel: "I had a stressful 2013, now I just take it week to week. "I have a son who will be born in the summer and I have another already making me really happy. "It's how I think now after last year, that things can always be worse. Today I already have more than I wanted three months ago. "Everything else is a bonus, but every player would love to go the World Cup. "If things seem ...

Former Super Eagles Captain, Sunday Oliseh has advised football stakeholders in the country to allow Eagles handler, Stephen Keshi to concentrate on leading the team to a successful outing in the 2014 World Cup holding in Brazil in June. Keshi’s preparations for the World Cup became a topical issue since the draws were made pitching Nigeria against highly rated Argentina while the other two countries in Group F included Bosnia Herzegovinian and Iran. Nigerian football fans have also called for the return of some players such as Osaze Odemwingie, Victor Anichebe, Lukman Haruna and others to encourage competition for shirts in the team. But Oliseh believes Keshi has started well for the 2014 Mundial and should be allowed to tinker the team without distractions from any quarter.

NEWS: Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Mike Umeh has blamed Super Eagles chief coach, Stephen Keshi's failure to include 'experienced' players like Osaze Odemwingie and other tested legs for the team’s poor showing at the Confederations Cup in Brazil. MY REACTION: I'm being forced to break my self-imposed silence on Osaze's issue now that the campaign for his recall is coming from the head honchos at Abuja. Yes, I agree the Eagles were woeful if you judged by the results they got at the Confed Cup. One win (against a spineless Tahiti) and two losses to Uruguay and Spain is not a cause for cheer. However, when you look beyond the results and critically analyse the performances against Spain and Uruguay then you may begin to understand how our boys shed blood to ensure we were not humiliated. How do I know this? Marca, Spain's largest-selling sports newspaper with a circulation of over one million copies, hailed the Eagles as the "toughest foe Spain faced in the group stage...Niger ...
