A TRUE STORY ABOUT GEN McChrystal's resignation in Obama's office, Worth reading from Gen McChrystal's book! NEVER STAND IN LINE AGAIN (Gen. Stanley McChrystal) Some men carry and handle their diplomacy better than others. When former U.S. Military commander in Afghanistan , Stanley McChrystal, was called into the Oval Office by Barack Obama, he knew things weren't going to go well when the President accused him of not supporting him in his political role as President. "It's not my job to support you as a politician, Mr. President, it's my job to support you as Commander-in-Chief," McChrystal replied, and he handed Obama his resignation. Not satisfied with accepting McChrystal's resignation the President made a cheap parting shot. "I bet when I die you'll be happy to pee on my grave." The General saluted. "Mr. President, I always told myself after leaving the Army I'd never stand in line again UnlikeUnlike · You and 2 others like this. . Annette Hindsley Write a comment... ..

5 Ways to Be More Adaptive in the 21st Century BY LOREN MOONEY In 2003, Gen. Stanley McChrystal took command of the United States’ Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), an association of elite forces including the Navy SEALS, Army Rangers, and Delta Force. His mission: to defeat al-Qaida in Iraq. JSOC had superior technology and resources compared to al-Qaida, but “by the summer of 2004, we were also losing,” said McChrystal during a presentation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. That's because they were using an outdated organizational structure, one that prized efficiency, despite living in a time that favors adaptability. For decades, the principles of efficiency were taught in business schools, and businesses thrived because of it, McChrystal said. But with more information being shared at greater speeds, even the most efficient organization these days can’t keep up. The secret to success is adaptability, he said. You've got to be smarter--and faster--about the way you react, esp ...

Based on Michael Hastings' biography of McChrystal, The Operators will be written and directed by David Michôd, the Australian film-maker behind the acclaimed 2010 crime drama Animal Kingdom. The book, described as "the wild and terrifying inside story of America's war in Afghanistan", details the military commander's rise to power. 99 MILITARY OFFICERS FIRED, OR FORCED TO RETIRE, UNDER OBAMA After reading the opening and many names be sure to read the end. I just wonder if this might be a problem in the future...? Maybe we will have a great military because no one will ever question orders! By George Friedman The Afghan War is the longest war in U.S. history. It began in 1980 and continues to rage. It began under Democrats but has been fought under both Republican and Democratic administrations, making it truly a bipartisan war. The conflict is an odd obsession of U.S. foreign policy, one that never goes away and never seems to end. As the resignation of Gen. Stanley McChrystal reminds us, the Afghan War is now in its fourth phase. The Afghan War's First Three Phases The first phase of the Afghan War began with the Soviet invasion in December 1979, when the United States, along with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, organized and sustained Afghan resistance to the Soviets. This resistance was built around mujahideen, fighters motivated by Islam. Washington's purpose had little to do with Afghanistan and everything to do with U.S.-Soviet competition. The United States wanted to block the Soviets from using Afghanistan as a base for further expansion and wanted to bog the Soviets down in a debilitati ...

These are just a few of the Senior Military that were fired...they refused to bow to the whims of the *** in charge: There was Gen. David McKiernan, the four-star who lead U.S. ground forces during the successful lightning Iraq invasion. He was asked to resign command of allied forces in Afghanistan just four months into Obama’s presidency in 2009. Never fully explained, but the implication was administration dissatisfaction with the war’s progress. Gen. Stanley McChrystal, a special ops veteran who was McKiernan’s successor. He resigned when his staff was quoted making derogatory comments to an embedded journalist about the administration in general and VP Joe Biden in particular. If mocking Megamind Biden is worthy of resignation, then most of America needs to step down by lunch today. Gen. David Petraeus, the architect of the surge and successful counter-insurgency strategy in Iraq, was demoted from Central Command to return to lead the Afghan war. After that successful tour Obama named him d ...
Written by City News Service - Journalist Michael Hastings, whose blunt Rolling Stone profile of Gen. Stanley McChrystal led to the resignation of the comman...
the 24 hours since the tragic death of journalist and author Michael Hastings was first reported on Tuesday, those who knew him, worked with him, and covered his work have offered numerous remembrances of the man best known for his Polk Award-winning Rolling Stone piece, “The Runaway General.” That article, which presented a dim view of the U.S. strategy in the Afghanistan war and exposed a military command structure working to actively undermine its civilian leadership, also contained several accounts of less-than-professional behavior and comments by Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the International Security Assistance Force commander, the disclosure of which led to McChrystal tendering his resignation in June 2010. But it’s an obituary in The New York Times that has sounded a discordant note amid the rest of the encomiums. And now Hastings’ widow, Elise Jordan, is firing back at Times brass. In its obituary of Hastings, posted online Wednesday evening, the paper of record casts doubt on the accuracy o ...
In an violent explosion more conducive to a fire-prone ’75 Ford Pinto, rather than a newer model Mercedes, investigative reporter Michael Hastings, 33, is being mourned following his mysterious death in a fiery crash in Los Angeles, California, which we noted here yesterday. But people are beginning to ask a lot of questions about the circumstances leading up to Hastings’ untimely death. After all, he brought down Gen. Stanley McChrystal via his crack reporting skills. Hastings was warned by McChrystal staffers that any bad information reported about the general would be met with his death. All in jest, right? Hastings, just a couple of weeks ago, was reporting on the Democrats’ love of spying on Americans. And then we learn, via The Telegraph, out of Britain, that Hastings contacted WikiLeaks right before his death.

Cyber command expands, El Salvador grows more dangerous and Stanley McChrystal continues the speaking circuit
Lost in the inaugural hullabaloo was Tuesday’s news that President Obama has relieved Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis, the colorful and highly decorated Marine who’s been in charge of the crucial US Central Command, which oversees the various wars in the Middle East, since 2010. Mattis is famous for his blunt style and blistering aphorisms — “be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet” was his clear-headed advice to the Marines he led during the treacherous Iraq War. He’ll retire from both CentCom and the Corps in March, several months short of his expected tour of duty. But why? Could it be that, as Obama prepares to cede Afghanistan back to the Taliban, the last thing he needs is an obstreperous general gumming up the surrender? For an administration whose relationship with the military is, to put it mildly, fraught with tension, Mattis is yet another wall trophy, to go alongside the heads of Gen. Stanley McChrystal (fired in 2010 as the commander of the US forces ...
America, if you think Obama would not use the United States Military against the citizens of America, think again. Why do you really think Stanley McChrystal and David Petraeus resigned, better think again. Why do you think Obama nominated Chuck Hagel and John Brennan into his cabinet, these guys will say and do anything Obama wants, they are his henchmen. Obama can order marshall law and command the military to take away our guns and fire upond us if we resist, he had to appoint someone to follow his orders without question. Men of Honor, would not do that. Read what Nobel Peace Prize nominee of 2009, Jim Garrow had to say about Obama and Military Leaders and what Obama asked them if they would be willing to fire on U.S. citizens.
“If you’ve been on the battlefield you’ve probably carried an M4 Carbine … it does terrible damage. It’s supposed to. I don’t want them on our streets. I don’t want them in our schools. Did anyone see Gen. Stanley McChrystal's comments today? He's the former commander of all US forces in Afghanistan. He might know a thing or two. He said "Some weapons should only be carried by soldiers, not civilians." Talking about military weapons he said, "I personally don't think there's any need for that kind of weaponry in the streets and particularly around the schools in America." When asked what his message would be to the NRA and the House Judiciary Committee, he said "I think we have to look at legislation. The number of people killed by firearms in America is extraordinary compared to other nations." In case you think he's just a liberal mouthpiece, remember he had to resign because of his comments about the Obama adminstration. We're not talking about taking away the 2nd amendment, just some reasonable limitations. Even 4 star generals agree.

And why is it that thr...

Back in Jan Michael Hastings (whose Rolling Stone piece helped end Stanley McChrystal's career) called out the Petraeus bio as puffery 1/2
Thanks Michael Hastings “Stanley McChrystal looking pretty good right now.”
Former US General David Petraeus, one of the most senior US military commanders of the post-9/11 era, resigned as director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) after acknowledging an extramarital affair. Over the course of a 37-year career with the US Army, he led the 2007 troop surge in Iraq and served from June 2010 as commander of US and Nato forces in Afghanistan. He replaced Stanley McChrystal, who was fired after making controversial comments in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine. In August 2011 he retired from the military just days ahead of the 10-year anniversary of the attacks of 11 September, to take on his role as the head of the CIA. Intense, ambitious and hugely competitive - though not without detractors, even within the military - as general, David Petraeus had a reputation as one of the brightest US commanders, correspondents say. Cheating death Born in 1952, David Petraeus grew up in New York state before going to the West Point military academy, from which he graduated in 1974 ...

Christiane Amanpour shared the following link and had this to say about it: All I know is that one of the greatest military minds in modern American history is now off the battlefield ...No, make that two, Stanley McChrystal's gone too. Q4: "A good leader allows someone else to fail; yet, not letting them become a failure." -Stanley McChrystal
Just spent an interesting afternoon at a Chicago Ideas Week session"Military From the Front Lines to the Home Front." I thought the highlight would be an interview of our friend Gen. Colin Powell by Tom Brokaw. We sat second row center in the Goodman Theater and got a wink, smile and wave as Colin was being introduced to a standing O. He was then joined by Gen. Stanley McChrystal for a very informative discussion. However the interview with Melissa Stockwell a former Army Lt. who lost a leg in 2004 and is now the current 2X Paratriathlon World Champion and talks by Taryn Davis founder of the American Widow Project and Paul Reickhoff, founder of the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America were just as inspiring. A wonderful experience.
