This Day in Sports 1983: The New York Islanders become the first American based team to win the Stanley Cup four straight seasons, as they complete a four game sweep of the Edmonton Oilers with a 4-2 win at the Nassau Coliseum. Goalie Billy Smith would win the Conn Smythe as the Playoff MVP. The Islanders had a different MVP in each Stanley Cup run.
I've got the Rangers and Blues playing in the Stanley Cup Final. I've got the Rangers winning it all, Lundqvist as the Conn Smythe winner.
The Blues are the only team in the NHL that has won a Conn Smythe Trophy but not a Stanley Cup.
Here's a rough draft of the Toronto Star ad for EVERY SPRING A PARADE DOWN BAY STREET. It will appear this week in the sports section with an excerpt skedded for the weekend. Dear Mr. David Nonis, For 46 years, the Toronto Maple Leafs organization has asked its fans to suspend their disbelief and embrace a dream of Stanley Cup glory built on a foundation of sound management, great coaching and talented players. Today the Leafs fans at Penguin Canada would like to return the favour. This morning we delivered 29 Kobo devices to the ACC, one for every player, coach and manager, each loaded with a copy of Every Spring a Parade Down Bay Street, the fanciful memoir of legendary sportswriter Red York as told to author G.B. Joyce. This stirring account of the Leafs’ great achievements since ’67—in which they win the Cup each and every year—touches on all the unforgettable highlights, from Dave Keon’s Conn Smythe-winning performance in the epic ’68 final vs. the Oakland Seals, through the night they ra ...
The appreciation for the 63 Stanley Cup Champions was luke warm, or at least that's the way it came off on TV ... if this event was held in Montreal for one of its Stanley Cup teams, the roof would have been raised. The majority of Leaf fans can't remember beyond Sittler or Clark, neither of who have won a Cup. And then there's Davey Keon who has 4 Cups, the Conn Smythe, the Lady Bing and the Calder - no other Leaf comes close to these accomplishments, yet his memory is slowly fading from the Leaf Nations ...which brings up George Armstrong, the pride of the other Nation - First Nations, the template of the perfect captain ... the fans had lots to cheers about last night, but they missed the boat on the 63 Champs, hugs lenny
I am a casual hockey fan but I very happy to see that Peter Chiarelli didn't trash Tim Thomas while trading him. Too often guys get trashed when they leave Boston. You many not agree with his views or his decision to take a year off but the Cup would not have been won without him. Hope the Boston media can keep it civil too. “He was a character here,” said Chiarelli. “He was a terrific goalie. He had a great story and he had some interesting side stories that became distractions at times. But I can’t stray from the fact that this guy won two Vezina Trophies (as the NHL’s top goalie) and a Conn Smythe (as playoff MVP) and was terrific when we won the Cup. He obviously was a great, significant part of our Stanley Cup-winning team. He had a very good year here and I can’t say enough about his contributions to the team. “The journey he took us on in the Stanley Cup was amazing and I was happy to be along for the ride. You guys (the press) will write what you want to write, and it will be accu .. ...
Everyone talks about Jonathan Quick's Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe but what about his fastest goalie title?
Baseball's my favorite sport. The presentation of the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup kicks the crap out of what we just saw.
Good evening, everyone, and welcome back! Tonight’s theme: Broadly speaking. 1. English character actor Jim Broadbent appeared in 2009’s “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” as what longtime Potions teacher and former Head of Slytherin House? 2. The 1972-1973 Philadelphia Flyers gained their nickname “The Broad Street Bullies” and proved that an expansion team could challenge the big boys after a brawling 3-1 victory over the Atlanta Flames during the 1972-73 season. In the 1974 Stanley Cup Finals, they defeated the Boston Bruins to become the first expansion team to defeat one of the “Original Six.” What Philadelphia player won the Conn Smythe Trophy for playoffs MVP that year, and what position did he play? 3. What two institutions jointly operate the Broad Institute, a biomedical research facility that specializes in cancer and inherited diseases? 4. The dense fabric known as broadcloth can nowadays be made from a variety of materials, but traditional English broadcloth was made ent ...
The NHL lockout has to end so we can witness win his 2nd Vezina and his first Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy
What former NHL player won the conn smythe as playoff MVP in 1995 and then won the Stanley Cup the following season for a different organization?
Watch the Penguins hang on in the remaining seconds to win Game 7 over the Wings, followed by the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup presentations. Courtesy of NBC
Just taken pix of Conn Smythe Trophy and THE STANLEY CUP.
At this rate, the Montreal Canadiens will win the Stanley Cup this season. But the Hart and Conn Smythe winners won't be players, they'll be lawyers. If lawyer Michael Cohen gets his way, Canadiens' players will be the only NHLers not locked out when the current CBA expires at midnight on Saturday. ...
I just want Kari Lehtonen to come to my house and take me under his wing and train me so I can play back up goalie for the Stars until Kari gets old and then one day he will stop me in the locker room alone and in his Finnish accent he will say. "It's your time, Taylor." And I will get to lead the team out onto the ice and play starter and get a shutout my first game as starter and then lead my team to the Stanley cup and win the Conn Smythe, and I will raise the cup and then hand it to Kari and thank him for being the reason I am here today. IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Nicklas Lidstrom is the first European to ever win the Conn Smythe (2002) and the Stanley Cup as a captain (2008).
Will Erik Karlsson be holding the Norris Trophy next summer or only the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe? I heart
That's it, the Sabres have won the Stanley Cup! Buffalo wins 4-1, sweeps the series 4-0. Dominik Hasek wins the Conn Smythe.
Jonathan Quick enjoying life on top of the NHL world The Los Angeles Kings don't have to worry about Conn Smythe-winning goalie Jonathan Quick losing his quick reflexes in the off-season. Every time Quick opens a door these days there is an army of young NHL hockey fans waiting with Sharpies, phot...
Which former NHL player just won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Kings Organization but won the Conn Smythe (playoff mvp) years ago? What team did he win it with and what position was he? It is his first cup!
Trust me, the Higgs boson will bring the Conn Smythe to Pisani AND the 2006 Stanley Cup to Edmonton!
Personifying the team’s defense-first mentality, he captained the Devils to four Stanley Cup Finals appearances in nine years, winning three of them. In 2000, he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Despite his team success with the Devils, he never won the Norris troph...
the entire year of 2010, Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe (playoff MVP) Olympic Gold medal and voted best forward of the Olympics.
Lemieux won the Stanley Cup with the 1986 Canadiens, 1995 & 2000 Devils, and 1996 Avalanche. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1995.

Fun fact: Conn Smythe's son Hugh is on the Stanley Cup listed as the Leafs' mascot for the 1942 win.
Toews was the main reason we have another Olympic Gold and he's a Stanley Cup champ with a Conn Smythe. It's a no-brainer.
Toews hands down. Stanley Cup captain & Conn Smythe, 1st team Olympic All-star & best forward in the tourney.
Can't hide a Stanley Cup or a Conn Smythe Trophy in a hoody.
Our new friend signing some Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Merch at the offices today!
A goalie who wins the Conn Smythe, wins his team a Stanley cup and is 22 years old gets LESS money than the goalie of the LAST place team in the East who has 8 career wins in the playoffs. Sounds about right...
Why is the cover vote so difficult? Malkin has 2 Art Ross awards, a Conn Smythe, a Stanley cup, and
come play with a Stanley Cup, MVP, Conn Smythe, and Art Ross winner, and me
J.S. Giguere has a Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe. So does Cam Ward. Like those comparisons better?
More big news today with the LA Kings and Stanley Cup Champion / Conn Smythe winner Jonathan Quick agreeing on a 10-year extension.
Wow... I guess it pays to win the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe Trophy. LA Kings & their Goaltender, Jonathan Quick agreed to a 10-year contract extension. DAYUM.
should've won the Vezina but I'm guessing Lundqvist would trade that trophy for the Conn Smythe & Stanley Cup
could have easily been yours. But I'm sure he would trade his little trophy for your Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe
Quickie, you SO deserved the Vezina!! But whatever..YOU still have the Conn Smythe & the Stanley Cup! =D
Hank congrats on your 1st of many Venzia Trophies U R the best goalie next stop Conn Smythe & Stanley Cup
But hey, I guess would gladly take being Stanley Cup champs and the Conn Smythe Trophy. Good trade off I guess.
congrats to Henrik Lundqvist for winning the Vezina Trophy! well deserved. at least Jonathan Quick has the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe!
Claude can have his cover, Malkin got a Conn Smythe, a Stanley Cup, a Hart Trophy, a Ted Lindsay Award, and an Art Ross!! SUCK IT
Malkin won the Art Ross Trophy and the Hart Trophy in 08-09, right? Not to mention the Conn Smythe and a Stanley Cup...
On this date in 2006, defeated the 3-1 in Game Seven to with the Stanley Cup. Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe.
Hey and Can't wait to see you 2 bring out the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy's at NHL Awards!
6 years ago today Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe and the Stanley Cup his rookie year.
Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup just a little bit bigger deal :)
Oh, well I have a baby girl. And a Conn Smythe, and a Stanley Cup, and probably a Vezina.
Done. By the time he comes back, he won't be able to keep up. Best to retire anyway. Guy has a Stanley Cup & a Conn Smythe.
Quick joins elite goalie club with Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup win -
As said, Lundqvist can win the Vezina as Quick sits between his Stanley Cup & Conn Smythe Trophy.
Jonathan Quick and Martin Brodeur hugged and exchanged a few private words in the Stanley Cup Finals handshake line
now Westy's playing senior hockey and Quick's won the Conn Smythe & Stanley Cup. Crazy.
Former Minuteman Jonathan Quick was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy after leading the Los Angeles Kings to the franchise's first Stanley Cup Championship following the squad's 6-1 series-clinching victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night. Quick, the first UMass player to win the Stanley Cup...
Congratualtion to the Los Angeles Kings as 2012 Stanley Cup Championship! some of curse ex-Flyers needed Stanley Cup's serenity like Jeff Carter, Mike Richards and Simon Gagne!!! and one more guy is former Flyers' 1987 Conn Smythe winner that Assistance GM Ron Hextall FINALLY hoist the Stanley Cup as im really happy for Hextall he was my favorite tough goaltender!!!

On this day in 2009, Max Talbot scores 2 goals as Penguins beat Red Wings 2-1 in Game 7 and win Stanley Cup. Evgeni Malkin earns Conn Smythe
A little late but congrats to the LA Kings for winning the Stanley Cup!!! So happy for them. And congrats to Jonathan Quick for winning the Conn Smythe!!! As if we didn't see that coming!!!
Congrats to the LA Kings on their first Stanley Cup. Congrats to Quick on being 3rd US Born player to win Conn Smythe Trophy. (Leetch & Thomas) Now lock Gary Bettman & Donald Fehr in a room and make sure they come out of the room with a new CBA.
I would normally love the LA underdog story, though I would have loved a third Stanley Cup banner in Goggin (Andy Green is a Miami grad), and I love the "little guys" (Gionta). Stephanie is right about 'the American studs.", and it was nice to see Jonathan Quick get the Conn Smythe. I just hate giving Jeff Carter the satisfactions (to my friends that don't know about hockey, he's the LeBron James of hockey in Ohio). Hey, the Jackets can get revenge if Jack Johnson can get us to the playoffs next year, and maybe even further. The eternal optimist! Well, its now time for hockey withdrawal, and looking forward to the All-Star game in Columbus next year.
Congratultons to Jonathan Quick for his Conn Smythe perfomance and Stanley Cup victory. His MVP effort propelled the Kings to this championship, well done !
Congratulations, Jonathon Quick! A UMass Minuteman wins the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe!
After 45 years, the Los Angeles Kings are Stanley Cup Champions. Captain Dustin Brown helped lead the way during a 6-1, title-clinching win over the Devils at Staples Center.
News Alert - The LA Kings win their first Stanley Cup beating New Jersey 6-1. Goaltender Jonathan Quick won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP on Monday night after yielding just 29 goals in the Kings' 20 playoff games on the way to their first title.
Congratulations LA!!! A well deserved Stanley Cup - 8th seed in the West picks up the ranking in the NHL. Quick with the Conn Smythe - Brodeur and Quick OWNED this series!!!
First time both the Conn Smythe winner and the captain of the Stanley Cup champs are Americans!! Take that Canucks and Eurotrash! (lol j/k) :)
Congrats the Kings (besides Mike Richards cause you're a bum and I can't stand you) for winning their first ever Stanley Cup in franchise history and an even bigger congrats to Scuds better known as "the piece" for winning his 2nd cup. Still miss ya scuds hope you come back when your contract is up. Congrats to Jonathan Quick for the Conn Smythe you were amazing this entire postseason, might have just shot up to top goalie in the NHL heading into next season.
"...and Billy Ranford gets to do it in a suit this time!" Jim Hughson as Bill Ranford gets his 3rd Stanley Cup handed to him! Congrats on your protege winning the Conn Smythe just like you did 22 years ago for us!!
One of the best parts of the NHL season, the booing of Gary Bettman by the home fans as he takes the ice for the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup presentations
Congrats to the LA Kings, being the first team of kings to raise the Stanley Cup. It was a hard fought series, also congrats to John Quick on winning the Conn Smythe award. Good on ya. The Kings are now Kings.
Congrats to LA Kings winning their first Stanley Cup in Franchise History.the seed that played like a Presidents Cup Winner.Dustin Brown or Jonathon Quick for Conn Smythe?
Not many former ECHL players get to hold the Stanley Cup. But Jonathan Quick may get to do that and the Conn Smythe Trophy. Reading Royals!
just had the biggest sign of economic downfall as Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy arrive to Staples Centet in the back of a minivan
Game Five Prediction: win 2-1 at New Jersey and wins the club's first Stanley Cup. Jonathan Quick awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Getting ready to watch the 2nd period of the Stanley Cup Final. Cheering for the Kings, they should finish it off tonight. L.A. is scary good. Can't decide who the Conn Smythe winner should be, either Quick or Kopitar.
Kings: 1 win from winning first Stanley Cup (franchise began in 1967-68) Jonathan Quick will win Conn Smythe, 2nd straight USA goalie to win
Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe tonight? Quick might have 'em both
On Wednesday night, Mike will be the only player to have a Calder Cup, a Memorial Cup, a World Jr. Gold, an Olympic Gold, and a Stanley Cup. Yes, Scott Niedermayer has a Memorial Cup, World Jr. Gold, 4 Cups, 2 Olympic Golds (plus a Conn Smythe and a Norris), but he never won a Calder - presumably because he never played in the minors. Suck it Niedermayer, you're second best.
True, but he also has 4 Stanley Cup rings, a Conn Smythe Trophy, 7 Norris trophies and holds 23 records...
I dont know Stan, isn't that why you have the Conn Smythe award and the Stanley Cup? Award enough for playoffs no?
The Kings are one win away from a most improbable Stanley Cup victory, in the midst of a 15-2 playoff run, and with a chance to win the Stanley Cup on Wednesday night in the fewest number of games since the Edmonton Oilers went 16-2 with a team of future Hall Of Famers back in 1988.
When the Kings win the Stanley Cup, Jonathan Quick had better win the Conn Smythe.
In three minutes Los Angeles will be one win from their first ever Stanley Cup. Goalie Jonathan Quick will be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy for one of the greatest netminding performances in NHL history. Enjoy this all my L.A. friends. Go Kings Go!
Jon Quick should of been in the running for the Hart Trophy it would go well with his Conn Smythe, Vezina and Stanley Cup
Here is to The Perfect Human, Nicklas Lidstrom, seasons, 20 playoff runs, 1564 career games, 264 career goals, 878 career assists, 1142 career points, +450 career on ice, 10 time All-Star, 7 time Norris winner, Conn Smythe winner, 1st European born Captain to win the Stanley Cup, Red Wings Captain, 4 time Stanley Cup Champion. Enjoy your retirement Nick….you earned it.
Lidstrom was the 1st European-born Conn Smythe winner & the 1st to captain a Stanley Cup Champion. Take that Sundin
I'm pretty sure that Geno can't give a rat's behind when he got a Conn Smythe, Hart Trophy, Stanley Cup, Art Ross, and an IIHF gold medal
When it comes to the NHL playoffs, there's perhaps nothing more important than a hot goaltender. The Bruins learned that last season when Tim Thomas put the team on his back, earning Conn Smythe honors amidst Boston's Cup run. Now, the Kings and Devils are learning the notion firsthand, as Jonathan ...
Wow never would have predicted a Kings Devils final at the beginning of the year. My prediction Kings in 6 conn smythe goes to who else but Quick but the real difference maker will be Dustin Brown who will finish with 8 Pts one of which will be the Stanley Cup winning goal. That said I'm cheering for the Devils I want to see Brodeur win another cup
Kings vs Devils on Wednesday ... Kings will win Game 6 Kopitar will passed to Doughty and then he passes it to Brown he tries and go for a snipe shot and it hits the side of the post and goes right in and it is OT goal WIN! Kings wins the Stanley Cup!!... Doughty or Brown wins the Conn Smythe award :)... That's my prediction
Oh yah, Devils!!! Predicting the Finals to be similar to 2003 Ducks vs Devils when Jiggy won the Conn Smythe, Marty hoisted the Cup; Quick will win the Conn Smythe, Marty will sip from his 4th Stanley Cup!
will be your new Stanley Cup Champions Both the Devils and Rangers will have no answer for them! Conn Smythe to !
So I'm reading espn.com/NHL and it has an article of the Phoenix Coyotes and how their coach was positive about his players despite being down 3-0 and how they bought into it and now it's a series with the Kings. Ok let's backtrack please to about a month ago when Vancouver did the same thing which is win game 4 at Staples Center, the Kings went up there and kicked their *** and eliminated them no problem. Expect the same to happen tonight once Jonathan Quick the Conn Smythe Trophy winner shows why he's gonna win that along with the Stanley Cup!! GO KINGS GO!!
Official New York Islanders wrote: This Day in Islanders History... May 21, 1981 - The Islanders win their 2nd Stanley Cup defeating the Minnesota North Stars 4 games to 1. Butch Goring scores twice and wins the Conn Smythe Trophy. Do you remember the front and back cover of the Daily News?
The race for the Conn Smythe Trophy continues to heat up as we advance deeper and deeper into the 2012 NHL playoffs. There are only four teams left in the hunt for the Stanley Cup, and the playoff MVP will certainly come from one of them...

I know Melissa Stephenson (the gingy), Melissa Fitzgerald, and Gaia Kutkuhn (The Face) will agree with me in asking: Where the *** did the L.A. Kings come from? a Number 8 Seed a game away from the Stanley Cup? Just give Jonathan Quick the Conn Smythe.
Traveling light Thank you to my lovely bride Jenna for allowing me to go visit little brother Tucker in Chicago this weekend for the Cubs/White Sox series In 1984 after winning the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe Trophy, Mark Messier shaved his head and flew to Hawaii with zero luggage of any kind wearing jeans, a white tshirt, a pair of flip flops and a roll of cash in his pocket I can borrow clothes from Tuck and they sell toothbrushes in Chicago. So, my question is this. I really look up to Mark Messier. Will he think I'm copying him or will he think I overpacked when he finds out I have a credit card along?

wow, Henrik nominated for the Hart Trophy! (overall MVP).won't win, hopefully Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup will console him
You are also already wrong on the Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe winners. Any statement on that?
controlled enough for 2 Vezina's, Conn Smythe and a Stanley Cup...calling Holtby better?
I'm saying it early...if the make it to the Stanley Cup, for Conn Smythe
3rd goalie (Holtby) is matching skills with the previous Stanley Cup, Vezna trophy, Conn Smythe winning goalie. Let that sink in a sec
really? Hm. Tim Thomas won the Vezina Trophy, Conn Smythe and the Stanley Cup last season. Luongo who?

'96 Florida Panthers, aka the Rat Run. It makes a great story of defiance, too: Throughout their Eastern series, thousands of rats would litter the ice every time they scored, and the opposing goalie would duck and seek refuge in the net from the barrage of rubber rodents. When they reached the Finals, they're facing the powerhouse Avalanche, of course backstopped by goaltender Patrick Roy who was already a legend for winning the Conn Smythe and Stanley Cup in 86 as a rookie, and winning ten consecutive OT games for an improbably Habs Cup win in 93. So after a 2-game sweep in Denver, the Stanley Cup Finals went to the sunshine state for the first time. In the first period, Florida scored their first home goal ten minutes in, and the rats went flying. Patrick Roy stood in his crease, refusing to duck into his net like his predecessors, and let the rats bounce off him. Florida scored again later in the period, and the rats littered the ice again (although considerably less since it seemed more than apparent ...
