So I got my invite with 4 tickets to my initiation for the Alpha Nu Omega Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Oh, what day did they set it on?! March 17th! St Patricks Day!!! When I converted to Catholism at age 17, I adopted the 2nd middle name of St Patrick. My Patron Saint. (Its a Catholic confirmation thing) Seriously? They are making me put on a suit and be reasonable when I should be wearing my "Trust Me, I'm Irish" shirt, my Guinness hat, and throwing down a lager. ERGG... I need to find ppl sober enough to use these tickets up, if they wanna go... (Yeah... 1st World Problems . I know)
For February 1: Brigid, Abbess of Kildare, ca. 525. Brigid (also known as Bride) was born in the latter part of the fifth century, of humble origin just five miles from Kildare. She was to become first a nun in the monastery there and then its Abbess. She is believed to have been baptised by St Patrick and the stories of her portray a woman of great compassion. She is even said to have been consecrated a bishop by Bishop Ibor, because of her resemblance to the Virgin Mary, but this may have been put abroad to support the claim of the primacy of the Abbey of Kildare. By her prayers and miracles, she is reputed to have strongly influenced the formation of the Church throughout Ireland, where she is, with St Patrick, the patron saint. She died in about the year 525.

This gives everybody ample opportunity to request once again that Google produce a St Piran's Day 'Doodle' for their home page (as they do for St David's Day, St Patrick's Day etc etc). Please email your request for a St Piran's Day doodle to proposalsthem that it is on 5 March! You might like to draw attention to fact that in the 2011 Census more than 83,000 people described their nationality as partly or wholly Cornish - an increase of nearly 50,000 in ten years."
