Middle East News: The Arab Spring has already deposed leaders like Zine El Abidine Bin Ali of Tunisia, Hosni Mubarak in Egypt, and Muammar Gaddafi in Libya. Syria's Bashar al-Assad is tenaciously holding on to power while rebels continue to fight for control of the country. The Islamic State (of Iraq and Syria), under nominal control of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, challenges the very concept of statehood. They intend to install a new caliphate across the entire region. In short, Southwest Asia is an absolute mess. Now this . . . The government of Yemen, which had the full support of the United States government, has fled in the face of a rival Shia Houthi insurgency. (Most of the Arabian Peninsula follows Sunni Islam.) Western states like France fear a new failed state, one where chaos reigns and Islamic terrorism is exported, much like the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris. Add to this mix the just-announced death of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah and one can find the world's most problematic political geography .. ...

Bagpipes This article is about the general form of bagpipes. For specific types of bagpipe, see List of bagpipes. For the mathematical concept, see bagpipe theorem. Bagpipes are a class of musical instrument, aerophones, using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. Though the Scottish and Irish Great Highland bagpipe (known in Ireland as the War pipes) and Irish Uilleann Pipes have the greatest visibility in the English-speaking world, bagpipes have been played for centuries (and continue to be played) throughout large parts of Europe, Turkey, the Caucasus, around the Persian Gulf and in Northern Africa. The term "bagpipe" is equally correct in the singular or plural, although in the English language, pipers most commonly talk of "the pipes", "a set of pipes" or "a stand of pipes". The practice chanter A set of bagpipes minimally consists of an air supply, a bag, a chanter, and, usually, at least one drone. Most bagpipes have more than one drone (and, sometimes, more tha ...

Encourages veterans who served in Iraq, Afghanistan and Southwest Asia to sign up and participate   WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall welcomed news that the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has launched the Airborne Hazards and Open Burn Pit Registry, which he was instrumental in creating through bipartisan legislation. Similar to the Agent Orange and Gulf War registries, the burn pit registry will enable the VA to track service members and veterans exposed to toxic chemicals and fumes from open burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan. It will help the VA and doctors to better *** the health of veterans and determine to what extent air pollution from burn pits caused diseases and medical conditions in service members.   Udall became a strong advocate of creating a burn pit registry after meeting Albuquerque veteran MSgt. Jessey Baca, who has faced a multitude of health problems believed to be associated with fumes he inhaled from burn pits while serving in Iraq. Udall and Sen. Bob Corker (R-T .. ...
"Brzezinski's 1997 magnum opus The Grand Chessboard. It's all there, raw, rough and ready: "Our first objective is to prevent the reemergence of a new rival, either on the territory of the former Soviet Union or elsewhere, that poses a threat on the order of that posed by the Soviet Union. This ... requires that we endeavor to prevent any hostile power from dominating a region whose resources would, under consolidated control, be sufficient to generate global power. These regions include Western Europe, East Asia, the territory of the former Soviet Union, and Southwest Asia." That's all one needs to know about the Obama administration's "pivoting to Asia", as well as the pivoting to Iran ("if we're not going to war", as US Secretary of State John Kerry let it slip) and the pivoting to Cold War 2.0, as in using Ukraine as a "new Vietnam" remix next door to Russia. And that's also the crucial context for Obama's Pax Americana Spring collection currently unrolling in selected Asian catwalks (Japan, South Kor ...
Internally, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is facing a major political and diplomatic crisis, but externally, it remains faithful to the Anglo-American plans of destabilizing and dismembering the larger nations of Southwest Asia through terrorism and religious warfare. On March 5, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain recalled their ambassadors from Qatar due to what they termed interference in their countries' internal security affairs by the latter. The dispute is related to Qatar's continued support for the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) in Egypt and other Arab countries, while Saudi Arabia in late February had declared the Brotherhood a terrorist group, together with a number of armed Islamic groups that are active in the sectarian bloodshed in Syria and Iraq. Egypt has also declared the MB a terrorist group, and its top leaders are all in custody. Likewise, Saudi Arabia has supported the revolt *** military coup in Egypt against the MB government since July 2013. Looking back, the Saudis h ...

Working in Djibouti, Africa at Camp Lemonnier Naval Base Camp Lemonnier is a United States Naval Expeditionary Base, situated at Djibouti’s Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport and home to the Combined Joint Task Force – Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) of the U.S. Africa Command (USAFRICOM). The camp is operated by U.S. Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia; CJTF-HOA is the most notable tenant command located at the facility as of 2008. It was established as the primary base in the region for the support of Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa (OEF-HOA). After negotiations between March and May 2001, the Djiboutian government allowed for the base’s use by the U.S., providing for demining, humanitarian, and counter-terrorism efforts, and it now serves as the location from which U.S. and Coalition forces are operating in the Horn of Africa. After hunting for few days just for this bird.. finally I manage to get a btr view of it last Wednesday... a bit about this bird. The Graceful Prinia (Prinia gracilis) is a small warbler (in some older works it is referred to as Graceful Warbler). This prinia is a resident breeder in Northeast Africa and Southwest Asia, from Egypt and Somalia east to Pakistan and North India, where it is sometimes called Streaked Wren-Warbler. This active passerine bird is typically found in shrub or tall grass in a variety of habitats with thick undergrowth, tamarisks or similar cover. Graceful Prinia builds its nest in a bush or grass and lays 3-5 eggs. These 10–11 cm long warblers have short rounded wings, and a long tapering tail with each feather tipped with black and white. In breeding plumage, adults are grey-brown above, with dark streaking. The underparts are whitish with buff flanks, and the bill is short and black. The sexes are similar. In winter, adults are brighter sandy brown above with weaker streaking, ...

If you have brown eyes, you might find it interesting to note that your eye color makes you seem more trustworthy. That's right, according to a 2013 study involving 238 participants, brown-eyed people's faces were rated more trustworthy than blue-eyed faces. Here are six more facts about brown eyes that you probably don't already know. 1. Originally, all humans had brown eyes. Blue eyes (and other light colored eyes) resulted from a genetic mutation affecting the OCA2 gene that "turned off" a person's ability to produce pigment, or melanin. This mutation occurred between six and ten thousand years ago and is said to be traceable to a single person. 2. Darker eyes are most common in North Africa, Southwest Asia, and Southern Europe. You'd be part of the minority in Denmark, though: Only 11% of the population there has brown eyes! 3. Very light-colored brown eyes are referred to as honey or copper colored. 4. People with brown eyes are said to have quicker reaction times. This could be due to the fact that ...

Andersen AFB 13°35'N 144°55'E Andersen Air Force Base is home to Pacific Air Forces' 13th Air Force and the 36th Wing, Air Mobility Command's 634th Air Mobility Support Squadron and several other tenant organizations. Andersen has always been, at its heart and soul, a bomber base - even when there were no bombers present. Andersen is one of four Bomber Forward Operating Location [BFOL] in the Air Force. These locations provide forward support to bomber crews deploying overseas in Europe, Southwest Asia and in the Pacific. The Air Force is establishing forward-deployed bomber beddown support at key locations throughout the world and Andersen is one of two critical bases in the Asia Pacific region. The other location is Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. Six B-52s and about 300 support people from Minot Air Force Base, ND, were the first to deploy in February 2004, following the decision to station a rotating bomber force at Andersen. They were honored following a nearly year-long deployment in Qatar, Southwest Asia. Welcome Home and thank you all for your service!
PLANT CITY, Fla. (Jan. 5, 2014) – More than 1,000 family and community members were joined by Florida’s governor today to welcome home members of a central Florida National Guard unit following a deployment to Southwest Asia. Gov. Rick Scott and his wife Ann stood alongside Florida National Guard leaders as Soldiers from the 3rd Battalion, 116th Field Artillery Regiment, arrived at the Plant City Strawberry Festival Grounds after their deployment to Qatar. The governor and Mrs. Scott shook hands with the Soldiers as they stepped from the buses bringing them home from their post-mobilization station in Mississippi. “We wouldn’t have the freedom we get to enjoy each and every day, but for what you do,” Gov. Scott told the Soldiers afterward when the unit marched into the indoor pavilion at the festival grounds. “Thanks for your service and we’re glad everyone came back safe and sound.” During his address the governor thanked the families and supporters of the Florida National Guard. “You l ...
The lion (Panthera leo) is one of the four big cats in the genus Panthera and a member of the family Felidae. With some males exceeding 250 kg (550 lb) in weight,[4] it is the second-largest living cat after the tiger. Wild lions currently exist in sub-Saharan Africa and in Asia (where an endangered remnant population resides in Gir Forest National Park in India) while other types of lions have disappeared from North Africa and Southwest Asia in historic times. Until the late Pleistocene, about 10,000 years ago, the lion was the most widespread large land mammal after humans. They were found in most of Africa, across Eurasia from Western Europe to India, and in the Americas from the Yukon to Peru.[5] The lion is a vulnerable species, having seen a major population decline in its African range of 30–50% per two decades during the second half of the 20th century.[2] Lion populations are untenable outside designated reserves and national parks. Although the cause of the decline is not fully understood, hab ...

The Beginnings of Civilizations, 10,000 - 2000 B.C.E. Culture, Agriculture, and Civilization Anthropologists define culture as a human's ability to adapt to his environment and pass his life's experience to future generations. While each region has a distinct culture, all cultures borrow from their neighbors, thus creating change over time. Culture is distinct from civilization, which is defined as a city-based society in which there are differing occupations and levels of wealth wherein elites exercise economic, political, and religious power. The Food-Producing Revolution By 6500 B.C.E., humans secured for themselves a dependable food supply by planting crops and domesticating animals. NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN LEARNED THE HARD WAY TOO After being dissed at the United Nations for a photo op hand shake, Obama isn’t the kind of guy to give up on looking like a moron right away. So, he calls Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to open a dialogue about Iran nuclear program. Obama is the first American president to speak to the number 2 leader of the Islamic dictatorial country in over 30 years. Obama claims that he believes that he can reach an agreement with the hostile nation. Hassan Rouhani might be a more pleasant public personality; he is still just another leader of Iran. This means they hang homosexuals in public, arrest and prison anybody who worships anything other than Islam. Before the World War II, the US policy was a compound of cooperation and isolation towards the world affairs and the US has no direct link in Southwest Asia and this area was under British influence. The main reason was lack of American commercial interests in Afghanistan and the role of Britain as guardian of Afghan foreign affairs, which obviated an early meaningful relationship between the two countries. So the history of US-Afghan relations is not very long and the efforts of the Afghan government for establishing relationship were not cherished up until 1934 and formal diplomatic relations were established in 1942. Afghanistan continued its traditional and preferred role as a buffer state, which prevented it from going into the orbit of any superpower or joining any military alliance. However, the Soviet influence increased and the Soviets provided military training and arms supply to Afghan army. The US adopted flexible approach in its relations with the Soviets, which resulted in increasing influen ...

ebanon (Arabic Lubnan), republic on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea in Southwest Asia. Lebanon’s coastal location, high mountain backbone, and climate have greatly influenced the country’s history, peoples, and economy. The coastal area of present-day Lebanon was settled more than 7,000 years ago and later evolved as the heart of seafaring Phoenicia. To help conduct their sea trade, the Phoenicians developed the first alphabet and colonized the western Mediterranean. In the early centuries AD, a largely Christian population and culture arose, which later blended with—though was not overwhelmed by—Islamic influences. Following centuries of Ottoman control, France ruled Lebanon under a League of Nations mandate after the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I (1914-1918). During World War II (1939-1945) Lebanon became an independent republic and for three decades prospered under a free-market economy. Beirut is Lebanon’s capital, principal port, and largest city.

After the cloudburst hit Garhwal and nature had its way sowing destruction and misery among tens of thousands, it was the Military who had to step in on the third day to take over rescue and relief. The officers of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and various para-military units in the Central Command region are doing a magnificent job bring help and succor to tens of thousands of isolated villagers and pilgrims stranded due to the landslides that swept up the main highway from Rishikesh to Badrinath. We are always ever dependent on our magnificent military and always turn to them in a crisis of this sort. So where the *** was the NDMA when all this was happening so close to Delhi? Not a squeak from them nor a mention of it anywhere in the hourly despatches. Acts 27:1-44 (Epistle) 1 And when it was decided that we should sail to Italy, they delivered Paul and some other prisoners to one named Julius, a centurion of the Augustan Regiment. 2 So, entering a ship of Adramyttium, we put to sea, meaning to sail along the coasts of Asia. Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, was with us. 3 And the next day we landed at Sidon. And Julius treated Paul kindly and gave him liberty to go to his friends and receive care. 4 When we had put to sea from there, we sailed under the shelter of Cyprus, because the winds were contrary. 5 And when we had sailed over the sea which is off Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia. 6 There the centurion found an Alexandrian ship sailing to Italy, and he put us on board. 7 When we had sailed slowly many days, and arrived with difficulty off Cnidus, the wind not permitting us to proceed, we sailed under the shelter of Crete off Salmone. 8 Passing it with difficulty, we came to a place called Fair Havens, near the cit ...

It is not very often that one sees the issuing of the ultimate tropical cyclone warning signal of No. 10. When this signal is issued, it means that winds of hurricane force (118 km/h or more) are expected to affect the territory. Since hurricane force winds are largely confined to a relatively narrow strip around the eye wall of a tropical cyclone, it would normally require a storm of typhoon or above status to pass fairly close to (say, within 100 km of) Hong Kong. This is commonly referred to as a "direct hit". Vicente in 2012 passed about 100 km southwest of Hong Kong, and was the farthest tropical cyclone that had necessitated the issuance of the No. 10 Signal since 1946. Considering Hong Kong is such a small target along the long coastline of eastern Asia, one finds it not surprising that only a dozen or so of typhoons have managed to score a direct hit in the post Second World War years, even with an average production rate of 15 typhoons per year (normal for 1961-2010) over the South China Sea and ...

Stay Healthy, Stay Haze Free The haze is an atmospheric phenomenon where pollutant particles accumulate in the air and obscure the normal clarity of the sky. In Southeast Asia, this usually happens when the prevailing southwest monsoon winds blow the smoke from regional forest fires to these countries. This phenomenon is not new and has been occurring regularly since 1994. Individuals who are exposed to haze experienced greater increases in difficulty with activities of daily living than did their counterparts in non-haze areas. The results for respiratory, immune and general health, although more complicated to interpret, suggest that haze has a negative impact on these dimensions of health. Children and the elderly are more vulnerable to the ill effects of haze due to their weaker immune system. In Singapore and Malaysia, air quality remained in the Unhealthy range for a few days. Pollutant Standards Index (PSI)* first hit levels unseen in 16 years in Singapore when a PSI of 155 was recorded at 10 p.m. ...

Megadrought in U.S. Southwest: A Bad Omen for Forests Globally Scientists studying a prolonged and severe drought in the southwestern U.S. say that extensive damage done to trees in that region portends what lies in store as other forests worldwide face rising temperatures, diminished rainfall, and devastating fires. by Caroline Fraser As brutal fires torch tinder-dry dense forests and neighboring homes in the American West, researchers are examining the relationships between drought, wildfire, and a warming climate, predicting mass forest die-offs and prolonged megadrought for the Southwest. These forces are accelerating, they say, and already transforming the landscape. Unchecked, they may permanently destroy forests in the southwestern U.S. and in some other regions around the world. Across the West, “megafires” have become the norm. With climbing temperatures, after a century of fire suppression, the total area burned has tripled since the 1970s, and the average annual number of fires over 10,000 ...

Singapore is choking on smoke and pointing the finger at Indonesia, which is pointing right back | 9Digg - What the web is talking about right now quality hit a 16-year low in Singapore this week, prompting residents to hide indoors with a stash of eye drops and face-masks. Malaysia is similarly affected, but the main cause lies to the southwest, on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, where farmers are stoking roaring blazes to clear their fields. Singapore has piled political pressure on the Indonesian government to tackle the problem, but the response has been mixed. Indonesia reassured Singapore and Malaysia that it would crack down on illegal burning, which has been detected in as many as 187 hotspots in Sumatra. But an Indonesian forestry official also blamed Singaporean and Malaysian palm oil companies operating in Indonesia, saying they “may be responsible for starting the fires.” Airborne pollution knows no borders; particles originating in East Asia have even reached the US state of Oregon. Indo-European language and people English is classified genetically as a Low West Germanic language of the Indo-European family of languages. The early history of the Germanic languages is based on reconstruction of a Proto-Germanic language that evolved into German, English, Dutch, Afrikaans, Yiddish, and the Scandinavian languages. In 1786, Sir William Jones discovered that Sanskrit contained many cognates to Greek and Latin. He conjectured a Proto-Indo-European language had existed many years before. Although there is no concrete proof to support this one language had existed, it is believed that many languages spoken in Europe and Western Asia are all derived from a common language. A few languages that are not included in the Indo-European branch of languages include Basque, Finnish, Estonian and Hungarian; of which the last three belong to the Finno-Ugric language family. Speakers of Proto-Indo-European (PIE) lived in Southwest Russia around 4,000 to 5,000 BCE. They had words for animals such as bea ...

Baya Weaver: Amazing Indian Weaver Bird known for Artistic Nests. The Baya Weaver (Ploceus philippinus) is a weaverbird found across South and Southeast Asia. Flocks of these birds are found in grasslands, cultivated areas, scrub and secondary growth and they are best known for their hanging retort shaped nests woven from leaves. These nest colonies are usually found on thorny trees or palm fronds and the nests are often built near water or hanging over water where predators cannot reach easily. They are widespread and common within their range but are prone to local, seasonal movements mainly in response to rain and food availability. Among the population variations, three subspecies are recognized. The nominate race philippinus is found through much of mainland India while burmanicus is found eastwards into Southeast Asia. The population in southwest India is darker above and referred to as subspecies travancoreensis...Good Morning Frndz

It is not native to Great Britain, but was first introduced in 1842, by Thomas Powys and is now naturalised there. This species is a part of the larger grouping of owls known as typical owls, Strigidae, which contains most species of owl. The other grouping is the barn owls, Tytonidae. Kazakhs launch 'Silk Road' China-Europe rail route By Raushan Nurshayeva, Reuters, Jun 10, 2013 ASTANA - Kazakhstan has launched a new transit railway linking China to Europe, aiming to beat rival routes for journey time in the competition to handle a growing flow of goods along the ancient Silk Road trade route. "Kazakhstan is a virtual bridge linking the East and the West," Yerkin Meirbekov, deputy railway department chief at Kazakhstan's Transport Ministry, said in an interview. "You can actually say this is the revival of the Silk Road." Centuries ago, it would take months for caravans of camels and horses from China to reach Europe across the sun-scorched steppes and deserts of Central Asia to exchange silk for medicines, perfumes and precious stones. Now it takes just 15 days for trains carrying containers with electronic goods, construction materials and other cargo to cover the 10,800 km (6,750 miles) route from Chongqing in southwest China to Duisburg in Germany's industrial Ruhr region. My last three lengthy posts on religion have been towards tolerance and understanding of your friend and enemy and perhaps, how to tell them apart. They have been on the differences of the Sunni and Shiite muslims, the origins of the Qu'ran and jihad and biblical prophecies and persecutions. Today, it is on comparison of statistics and basics of Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. It is important to understand the differences and similarities of each faith so that we don't needlessly misunderstand each others motivations and intentions. Let us start off with numbers. There are 1.3 billion muslims, 13 million Jews, and 2 billion Christians. Christianity is the largest religion in the world today with Islam ranked 2nd and Judaism 12th. The major concentrations of followers of these faiths are the Middle East and southwest asia for Islam. Isreal, europe, and the USA for Judaism. Tuesday 18th June Today's energies are related to Cneamh or Garlic, which as most people know a plant used for cooking and medicine. Probably introduced by the Romas might have originated in Southwest Asia Garlic ask us to be adventurous, it says that change is always necessary but to avoid introducing sterility in our lives Often when we find difficulties, we try to avoid similar circumstances in the future and that normally means that our lives contract until life becomes boring and stale Life is a journey where we only can control one part of the game, the rest of the game is not in our hands like in the rest of society or the weather for example The way to deal with the ups and downs of life is by making ourselves stronger that we may be able to stay in our integrity in any circumstances and not be swayed or scared. Any circumstance in life offer precious gifts that we can harvest as wisdom Blessings for your day!
Note to SFO: if a delay happens every day, it's not a "delay," it's a factor in the time it takes to get there. Each time Kara flies back into SFO, we learn a few more tricks about it. Here's what we have learned in the last couple of trips: 1. In summer, fly direct if your arrival is past about 7pm. The fog rolls in at that time and shuts arrivals at SFO down to one runway. They let the long flights land and short hops, such as the one Kara is on from LA, are grounded until they know for sure that they won't overload the pattern. None of this applies to departures, only arrivals. 2. If you are forced to make connections (because you obviously chose Southwest for the miles or the free drink coupons), don't check a bag if possible. That way, you can change to OAK or SJC at the last minute, when your one hour flight is delayed two or more hours in SFO's SOP. 3. Whatever you do, don't be on a domestic flight into SFO after 11pm. As a "Gateway to the Pacific" many flights from Asia make connections at SFO lat ...

Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him." – Luke 23:8-10 NKJV. Thoughts for Today Herod longed to see Jesus. He had heard much about this Man. In fact, Jesus had become a subject of curiosity, and Herod was interested in being entertained. . He failed to realize that Jesus was not an entertainer. His power was real, but not as a source of entertainment. Instead, Jesus met the genuine needs of people who sought Him with a pure heart. . Finally, ...

Home Remedy Treatments for Burns If you find yourself the victim of a minor burn, these home remedies are likely to help minimize the pain. More serious burns should receive medical attention. From the Home Remedies Cupboard Honey. If you're suffering from a burn, the treatment should at least be sweet. Honey has long been a folk remedy to disinfect wounds and heal burns. Everyone knows bees are attracted to honey, but did you know water is, too? When applied to a burn, honey draws out fluids from the tissues, effectively cleaning the wound. You may also apply the honey to a gauze bandage, which is less sticky than direct application. On a piece of sterile gauze, place a dollop of honey and put the bandage directly on the burn, honey-side down. Change the dressing three to four times a day. Oatmeal. As minor burns heal, they can become itchy. A good way to relieve the itch is by putting this breakfast cereal into the tub. hk416 The HK416 (5.56 mm) was developed by Heckler & Koch for U.S. special operations forces as a major product improvement of M4/M16-type carbines and rifles. Using the HK-proprietary gas piston system found on the G36, the HK416 does not introduce propellant gases and carbon fouling back into the weapon’s interior, making it the most reliable of any M4/M16 type weapon. The HK416 has been combat-proven in Southwest Asia and has also gained the attention of military, law enforcement, and security users outside of the US. In April 2007, the HK416 was selected as the new Norwegian Army rifle. The origins of the HK416 began with the realization of the deficiencies of the direct gas impingement (gas tube) operating system found on conventional M4/M16-style weapons. Input from the users of current M4/M16-type arms, high-speed video assessment, and extensive live-fire testing in extreme operational environments such as the U.S. Army Desert Proving Ground in Yuma, Arizona revealed multiple areas for improvemen ...

Southeast Asia East Asia South Asia SOUTHWEST ASIA (Middle East) Central Asia The 5 major regions of Asia are Southeast Asia, East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, and Southwest Asia (also known as the Middle East). Some geography sources will also include North Asia as the 6th region, but we chose to simply make our Russia page the de facto page for North Asia because it is essentially the only country in the region. Although exact formal boundaries of these regions are rarely agreed upon, this is the organizational structure we feel best represents the geographic sections. Hundreds of pages could be written dissecting the various disputing arguments that have arisen over time about which countries belong in which region. In actuality, many countries justly belong in two regions, due to strong geographic or cultural characteristics it may share with both regions.

Oil transformed Kuwait, enabling it to finance a broad range of social welfare programs for its citizens. The country’s wealth made it a tempting prize to its more powerful neighbor Iraq, which invaded Kuwait in 1990, setting off the 1991 Persian Gulf War. The People Ethnic Groups, Religion, Language. Beer the beginning of civilization The advent of agriculture began in the Neolithic Period of the Stone Age about 11,500 years ago. Once-nomadic groups of people had settled down and were coming into contact with each other more often, spurring the establishment of more complex social customs that set the foundation of more-intricate communities. The Neolithic peoples living in the large area of Southwest Asia called the Levant developed from the Natufian culture, pioneers in the use of wild cereals, which would evolve into true farming and more settled behavior. The most obvious explanation for such cultivation is that it was done in order to eat. Archaeological evidence suggests that until the Neolithic, cereals such as barley and rice constituted only a minor element of diets, most likely because they require so much labor to get anything edible from them — one typically has to gather, winnow, husk and grind them, all very time-consuming tasks. Hayden told LiveScience he has seen that hard work for hi ...

Heroin was first synthesized from morphine in 1874. From 1898 through to 1910, Bayer, the German pharmaceutical company, marketed it under the trademark name Heroin as a cough suppressant and as a non-addictive morphine substitute (until it was discovered that it rapidly metabolizes into morphine). One year after beginning sales, Bayer exported heroin to 23 countries. Facts Heroin is manufactured from opium poppies cultivated in four primary source areas: South America, Southeast and Southwest Asia, and Mexico. Although Afghanistan produces the majority of the world's heroin, South American heroin has become the most prevalent type available in the U.S., particularly in the Northeast, South and Midwest. The particular form known as "black tar" from Mexico, a less pure form of heroin, is more commonly found in the western and southwestern United States. This heroin may be sticky like roofing tar or hard like coal, with its color varying from dark brown to black. Street heroin is rarely pure and may range f ...

Last Wednesday 23rd, 2013 at 10:45 pm Bando Master Mark E.S. Bjishkian died at the Walter Reed National Medical Center. He was not alone he was loved by the many lives he had touched. His son, & many friends from Bando, his shooting club and others were present. I met both Mark & his son Marco 30 years ago on a Bando camp. Then I met him during Bando Nationals but it was not until 1990 while by coincidence I met him at the Vietnam Memorial Wall. Within a few months I deployed to Southwest Asia for Desert Storm. On my return Mark helped me prepare for First Level of Achievement (Black Belt) exam then later he would help me with teaching Bando @ Montgomery College in Maryland. Later on he was my best man. The marriage did not last but the friendship did. Mark did visit me a few times in Florida. There was a period after returning from Iraq I did not speak with Mark...I was very touchy after being a combat corpsman & eventually I rebuilt that bridge. He did not held any grudges against me. To be honest, I'm glad that SNSD is Korea's National Group. Why? Because the title says it all. Korea and national. They will forever be a national group, which means they don't have a chance to become international. Sure, they're popular but what good is that if you aren't known for your MUSIC? G-Dragon, having over 100 songs under his name. Super Junior, conquering Southwest Asia/part of Europe/China. Wonder Girls and PSY topping the Billboard Hot 100s. Of course, you're an idol and you have an image. But do you think those "good" looks will be there forever? They're just going to be known as "Nine girls". If you're known for your music, you'll last forever. Sorry I just had to get that out. -JT-
