Today the church commemorates Justus Falckner, died 1723; Jehu Jones, died 1852; William Passavant, died 1894; pastors in North America. A native of Saxony, Falckner was the son of a Lutheran pastor and, seeing the stresses his father endured, did not plan on becoming a pastor himself, though he studied theology in Halle. Instead, he joined with his brother in the real estate business in Pennsylvania. Through his business he became acquainted with a Swedish pastor in America, and finally he decided to become ordained. He served congregations in New York and New Jersey. Not only was he the first Lutheran ordained in North America, but he published a catechism that was the first Lutheran book published on the continent. Jones was a native of Charleston, South Carolina. Ordained by the New York Ministerium in 1832, he became the Lutheran church's first African American pastor. Upon returning to South Carolina he was arrested under a law prohibiting free blacks from reentering the state, so he was unable to j ...
Feminist activist, media critic and blogger Anita Sarkeesian was supposed to present at Utah State University Oct. 15. Sarkeesian was scheduled to speak on the portrayal of women in video games in relation to her video series “Tropes Vs Women in Video Games”. After receiving posts on her website and via email about a potential gun threat to Sarkeesian and those attending her presentation, she cancelled her appearance. According to the state of Utah, laws permit a person with a valid concealed firearm permit to carry a weapon and are permitted to have it at a college venue. We think the state of Utah should have restrictions on gun use in designated on campus locations. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures there are 20 states that ban carrying a concealed weapon on a college campus: California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, ...

LETS GO ALL YOU REPUBLICANS, LETS GO... Republicans Gain Three Seats from Dems As polling centers start shutting their doors to voters, results have begun to surface and announce who will be claiming their seat on the Senate floor. And the GOP is half way towards claiming victory as the Senate majority with West Virginia being turned over to Republican Shelley Moore Capito, Arkansas's Tom Cotton unseating Democrat Mark Pryor, and Gov. Mike Rounds claiming formerly Democrat South Dakota. The party now needs a net gain of three seats to claim ruling over the floor. According to the Associate Press, early results have announced Republicans Mitch McConnell of Kentucky as well as Tim Scott and Lindsay Graham of South Carolina as winners of their respective states. Republicans have also taken victories in Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, and Maine, while Democrats hold on New Jersey, Rhode Island, Illinois, Michigan, Delaware and Massachusetts. The race is projected to see the Democratic Party ...

PART 4 Why the Founders Wanted the Federal Government Excluded from All Problems Relating to Religion and Churches The Supreme Court has stated on numerous occasions that, to most people, freedom of religion is the most precious of all the inalienable rights, next to life itself. When the United States was founded, there were many Americans who were not enjoying freedom of religion to the fullest possible extent. At least seven of the states had officially established religions or denominations at the time the Constitution was adopted. These included: Connecticut (Congregational Church) New Hampshire (Protestant faith) Delaware (Christian faith) New Jersey (Protestant faith) Maryland (Christian faith) South Carolina (Protestant faith) Massachusetts (Congregational Church) Under these circumstances the Founders felt it would have been catastrophic, and might have precipitated civil strife, if the federal government had tried to establish a national policy on religion or disestablish the denominations which ...

Embrace the Fuzz of New Jersey’s Peaches At Demarest Farms in Hillsdale, midsummer brings peach season, when Jason DeGise and James Spollen, the owners, are constantly reminded that the public can be out of touch with peaches in their natural state. “People come to do pick-your-own, and they’ll see peaches with fuzz on them and go, ‘Oh, that’s bad. It must be moldy,’ ” said Mr. Spollen, 45, of Emerson. “We have to educate them that the fuzz is supposed to be there, that the big packing houses put them through machines to get rid of the fuzz before they send them to supermarkets.” The lesson in fuzz is one that day trippers to New Jersey’s pick-your-own orchards or various festivals celebrating the home-grown fruit might benefit from. But there are other lessons, too. New Jersey is the fourth-largest peach producing state, behind California, South Carolina and Georgia, reaping roughly 60 million tons of peaches and nectarines per year, according to Jerome L. Frecon, a horticultural cons ...

I have seen these numbers before. On average, welfare recipients are on 7-8 different welfare programs to receive these amounts. Unbelievable. THIS IS CRAZY! CONGRESS CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE TO CUT SPENDING The Cato Institute released an updated 2013 study (original study in 1955) showing that welfare benefits pay more than a minimum wage job in 33 states and the District of Columbia. Even worse, welfare pays more than $15 per hour in 13 states. According to the study, welfare benefits have increased faster than minimum wage. It’s now more profitable to sit at home than it is to earn an honest day’s pay. Hawaii is the biggest offender, where welfare recipients earn $29.13 per hour, or a $60,590 yearly salary, all for doing nothing. Here is the list of the states where the pre-tax equivalent “salary” that welfare recipients receive is higher than having a job: 1. Hawaii: $60,590 2. District of Columbia: $50,820 3. Massachusetts: $50,540 4. Connecticut: $44,370 5. New York: $43,700 6. New Jersey: $ . ...

During the 1950s, Gibson won 56 singles and doubles titles, including 11 major titles. After winning Wimbledon and the U.S. Open again in 1958, Gibson retired from amateur tennis. Jul 2, 1776: Congress votes for independence Minuteman Militia On this day in 1776, the Second Continental Congress, assembled in Philadelphia, formally adopts Richard Henry Lee's resolution for independence from Great Britain. The vote is unanimous, with only New York abstaining. The resolution had originally been presented to Congress on June 7, but it soon became clear that New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and South Carolina were as yet unwilling to declare independence, though they would likely be ready to vote in favor of a break with England in due course. Thus, Congress agreed to delay the vote on Lees Resolution until July 1. In the intervening period, Congress appointed a committee to draft a formal declaration of independence. Its members were John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, Robert R. Livingston of New York and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson, well-known to be the best writer of the group, was sele ...

One of the Republican plantation owners, Sheldon Adelson has called some of his field hands to his Las Vegas headquarters for a weekend meeting. The Billionaire right wing political donor and world-wide casino owner sent for certain potential 2016 Republican Presidential candidates. Adelson is a major contributor to Republicans, as he donated over 100 million dollars to their candidacies in the last election, mostly in support of Gingrich and Romney. Now, if you notice Some Republicans are now proposing legislation to stop online gambling, as it harms Adelson's on site casinos. Now, Chris Christie has already had a dispute with the casino baron because the Governor agreed to allow online gambling in New Jersey. But, we'll see if Christie goes to his master with head bowed, hat in hand and with an apology on his lips because to some, money speaks louder than fairness. Senator Lindsay Graham, in a tough race in South Carolina and a major donation from Boss Adelson, has already put forth a Senate bill to en ...

Please pray for my daughter again as she has her first round of Chemo today. As most of you know, we found out earlier yesterday that she does have stage 3 Hepatoblastoma. It's a pediatric cancer of the liver. Thankfully it's only in her liver and hasn't spread, but the severity of it most likely will force the doctors to have to do a liver transplant after 2 rounds, or 6 weeks, of chemotherapy. Lawrence Eugene Doby The American League had their Jackie Robinson too, but few ever took notice of one of baseball's greatest players, Lawrence Eugene Doby. He was much bigger the Jackie in size and strength, but Robinson got the media attention. The simple reason Robinson received most of the glory was that Jackie played in a big city. Jackie played in New York for the Dodgers, while Larry played for the Cleveland Indians. At that time in baseball history, Cleveland, Detroit, and St. Louis were considered west. Doby was born in December 1923, in the middle of winter, in Camden, South Carolina. The family moved to Paterson, New Jersey in 1934; he became an All-State athlete in almost every sport. He played basketball, baseball, and football at Paterson's Eastside High School. He graduated with honors and received praise from most of his teachers. From my cousin Toni Ward yesterday, I learned a lot about my family history today, on my mother’s side. One of my great-great-grandfathers was J.B. Spearing from Charleston, South Carolina. He was a cabinet maker. Among his children were my great-grandmother Lena and her sister, Florence. Lena Spearing (known as Mama Lena) married my great-grandfather Robert Steele and they moved to Jersey City, New Jersey, where Robert Steele worked on the Pennsylvania Railroad, and Lena raised 8 children, including my grandfather Robert Artson Steele. His daughter, Bernice Selina Steele, is my mother. Florence Spearing, a dress maker, moved north to live with her sister and brother-in-law in Jersey. She had a dress making establishment and made dresses for wealthy women in New York City. She had married Hugh Randolph, who worked as a cook on the railroad. Later in her life, Florence Spearing Randolph became an ordained minister in the AME Zion Church, and was active in the Women’s Christian Temperance Union and ...

States With the Lowest Property Tax Bills Tuesday, November 26, 2013 — States with the lowest property taxes While it is common knowledge that New Jersey and New York (and most anywhere starting with “New”) have the highest property tax bills in the nation, what states are the least expensive? Who has the lowest property tax bills in America? According to a residential property tax study by the Tax Policy Center (TCP), property tax bills for homeowners ranged on average from around $500 in some states to over $8,000 in others – a massive disparity between states. In 2012, while the most expensive areas were in the Northeast, the least expensive tax bills were from all around the nation, peppered throughout the north, south, east, and west. Property tax critics note that the assessed value of a home rarely matches the home’s actual market value, and although appeals are an option, more people looking to pinch pennies are considering all living expenses, including their tax bills, leading us to hu ...

Google ADS: 16th Amendment not Ratified In his declaration Knox claims the following States properly ratified the 16th: Alabama,Kentucky, South Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Maryland, Georgia, Texas, Ohio, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, Montana, Indiana, Nevada, North Carolina, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, North Dakota, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, Mane, Tennessee, Arkansas, Wisconsin, New York, South Dakota, Arizona, Minnesota, Louisiana, Delaware, and Wyoming. Knox claimed that it appeared that New Jersey and New Mexico had approved the 16th. NOTE Knox, claimed that he had official documents on file for all of these States, however, clearly there were no documents for Minnesota. Again, the incorporation of the terms of the proposed amendment in the ratifying resolution seems in every case merely to have been by way or recitation. Furthermore, under the provisions of the Constitution a legislature is not authorized to alter in any way the amendment proposed by Congress, the function of t ...
Hello! After the elections yesterday, I thought it fitting to discuss the 2014 midterm elections with you all - seeing as how I've brought them up many times before. There are many Senatorial elections in 2014, including South Carolina, North Dakota, North Carolina, Arkansas, Alabama, Alaska, Montana, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and others. The highlighted Senatorial elections are the Arkansas election, the Kentucky election, the Louisiana election, and the Georgia election. The reason these are important is, you guessed it, because they are important to the Republicans and the Tea Party. Arkansas and Louisiana, which I have mentioned before, have probably the two weakest Democratic incumbents in the nation: Mary Landrieu for Louisiana and Mark Pryor for Arkansas. Landrieu is facing off against Bill Cassidy. Bill Cassidy is very well liked with the conservative base, he's a good speaker, and he's known throughout Louisiana. Landrieu's hope in this election is coming from her father, Moon Landrieu, former M ...

175th Anniversary Historical Article Protest Meeting At Metropolitan A.M.E. Church African Methodist Episcopal Church In March 1913, Woodrow Wilson, a New Jersey governor became the 28th U. S. president. Having grown up in Georgia and South Carolina, Woodrow Wilson was a southerner in matters of race. The new Wilson administration brought segregation (by race) into what had been an integrated federal work force. At Washington, D. C.; Protests Against Race Segregation.1 On Oct. 27, 1913, three thousand American citizens of both races gathered at Metropolitan A. M. E. Church and voiced a mighty protest against the un-American and un-Christian policy of the Wilson administration in segregating the Afro-American employees of the (federal) government and the effort to establish a system of caste in this country. The crowd was so great that it finally became necessary to close the doors and several thousand were unable to gain admittance. An overflow meeting was held in the street which was addressed by Prof. W ...

NJ Powerball winner wants his old life back ild' Willie says the drama is nonstop "Wild" Willie Seeley of Manahawkin, New Jersey, has one piece of advice for the winner of last week's $400 million Powerball jackpot in South Carolina: Run. "Just disappear," he said, speaking from hard-won experience. "Get lost while you still can." After Seeley and 15 co-workers from Ocean County's vehicle maintenance garage shared part of an even bigger Powerball jackpot last month, $450 million, the "Ocean's 16" celebrated the win at a press conference where Seeley stole the show with a cascading beard, tinted shades and a battered straw hat. "We are very happy, happy, happy," he said to hoots and hollers from the crowd. "I'm going to continue to watch NASCAR races on Sunday. Maybe I'll be at a log cabin on multiple acres of land." The next morning, he and his wife, Donna, appeared on NBC's TODAY, where Willie (no one calls him Seeley) pledged to fish, hunt and generally do as he pleases. "I can do what I want," he told ...

September 17, 1787 is the signing day of The U. S. Constitution in Philadelphia, Pa. by 39 delegates. As dictated by Article VII, the document would NOT become binding until it was ratified by nine of the thirteen states. Beginning on December 7, five states -- Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia and Connecticut -- ratified it in quick succession. However, other states, especially Massachusetts, opposed the document, as it failed to reserve delegated powers to the states and lacked constitutional protection of basic rights, such as freedom of speech, religion, and the press. BUT THE FOUNDERS AGREE TO BALANCE AND COMPROMISE : GETTING THE NINE, AND EVENTUALLY THIRTEEN STATES In February 1788, a compromise was reached under which Massachusetts and other states would agree to ratify the document with the assurance that amendments would be immediately proposed. The Constitution was thus narrowly ratified in Massachusetts, followed by Maryland and South Carolina. On June 21, 1788, New Hampshire ...

The vote largely broke along party lines, with 16 Democrats voting in favor of the bill and 6 Republicans voting no. Five of the six GOP no votes came from the New Jersey delegation. The bill would make at least half of the unleased costal areas with the most potential for energy production available for exploration and would create a nationwide revenue sharing system for all coastal states. Before passing the bill, the chamber narrowly defeated (209-210) a Democratic amendment by Alan Grayson of Florida that would prevent the bill from affecti . ...

Dee Johnson the info I promised. - Range and Habitat: Pine snakes are found across the Southeast, but their range is patchy. They are found throughout the Coastal Plain of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and throughout Florida , and in disjunct populations in the dry mountains of Virginia , Tennessee , and northern Georgia . A large, but isolated population occurs in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey . Coastal Plain snakes prefer flat and dry habitats with open canopies and are most common in sand hill and sandy pine barren habitats. This species is also found quite often in stands of longleaf pine or turkey oak forest . Occasionally individuals are seen in abandoned fields and dry mountain ridges. They are often associated with pocket gophers and gopher tortoises. Infertile, sandy soils are important habitat for pine snakes because they dig both hibernacula and summer dens.

Today we celebrate both Chris’ 62nd birthday AND 41 years together as husband and wife. I just wanted to say Happy Birthday, Chris. Life with you has always been a great adventure! We have lived in Florida, North Carolina, British Columbia, South Carolina, Alaska, Colorado, New Jersey, and Alabama. When the kids were little we camped in places like Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Glacier NP, Telluride, Grand Mesa, Mesa Verde NP, Canyonlands NP, Banff to Jasper, just to name a few. We have spent time in places from New York City to San Francisco. We survived the 7.1 magnitude Earthquake of 1989 in San Francisco and our “near death” rafting experience on the Ocoee River. From just the two of us then us with three children and now 10 amazing grandchildren. You have been the one to encourage me to pursue the Lord with all my heart and helped me to overcome my fears. I love you more today than the day we married, and can’t imagine my life without you. Brenda

But soon, you may be able to gamble on your smartphone. Thanks to improvements in technology, a change in federal rules and shifting political calculations, a push to legalize online and mobile gambling is picking up steam. Three states already have moved to allow it, and Silicon Valley tech companies, including San Francisco-based social gaming giant Zynga, are rushing to cash in. "It's inevitable that this spreads pretty quickly," said Doug Walker, who studies casino gambling as a professor of economics at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. Last month, the governors of New Jersey and Nevada signed laws to legalize online gambling in their states. And earlier this year, Delaware, which legalized online gambling ...

Gov. Haley setting stage for run for 2nd term RICHBURG, S.C. - Nikki Haley, the self-proclaimed jobs governor, has sold a business on South Carolina again. Haddon House Food Products chose to expand its 25-year-old distribution center in Chester County rather than build a new one in Florida because of incentives and other support that the first-term Republican governor offered during a 45-minute phone conversation with the New Jersey-based company
I just started reading "Little Boy Blue" by Kim Kavin. It's about a journalist in New Jersey who adopted a sothern transport puppy through a local rescue. Discovering that her pup, Blue, was a last minute rescue from a gas chamber shelter in North Carolina, she decided to trace Blue's history back to the southern shelter where she tells of his rescue from death row, and the shocking truth about what happens to over 90% of most dogs and puppies turned in daily to gassing shelters in the south. I have never questioned my decision to foster southern transport puppies, and now I am even more sure that I am doing the right thing, saving them from a very horrible death, and giving them a chance at a long, happy life. I am giving Rhett an extra long, and very tight hug tonight!

Remembering ELIZABETH EVELYN WRIGHT, EDUCATOR, February 28, "Undeterred, she moved to Denmark, South Carolina, and opened the Denmark Industrial School. In 1902, with the gracious aid of Ralph Voorhees, a blind philanthropist from New Jersey, Lizzie was able to purchase 280 acres of land. With the assistance of her friend and mentor Booker T. Washington, the school expanded, and was renamed the Voorhees Industrial School, which today is know as Voorhees College." Rubin "Hurricane" Carter (born May 6, 1937) fought professionally as a middleweight boxer from 1961 to 1966. In 1966, he was arrested for a triple homicide in the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey. He and another man, John Artis, were tried and convicted twice (1967 and 1976) for the murders, but after the second conviction was overturned in 1985, prosecutors chose not to try the case for a third time. From 1993 to 2005 Carter served as executive director of the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted. Early life Carter grew up in Paterson, New Jersey, the fourth of seven children. He acquired a criminal record and was sentenced to a juvenile reformatory for assault and robbery shortly after his 14th birthday.[citation needed] Carter escaped from the reformatory in 1954 and joined the Army. A few months after completing infantry basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, he was sent to West Germany.[citation needed] He began going to classes — including a Dale Carnegie class, w ...
Charge a fee to use your credit card? It’s legal for merchants to do that, unless barred by state law. Ten states already ban such surcharges – California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Oklahoma and Texas – and more may join the list. The legislatures in 13 other states are currently considering bills that would prevent these so-called “check out” fees. Lawmakers in Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Utah, Vermont, Washington and Tennessee are responding to a rule change that took place late last month. A similar bill will soon be introduced in West Virginia. and MasterCard agreed to let merchants add a surcharge to credit card transactions so be a fool and use your credit card.

28th U.S. President Woodrow Wilson Like Roosevelt before him, Woodrow Wilson regarded himself as the personal representative of the people. "No one but the President," he said, "seems to be expected ... to look out for the general interests of the country." He developed a program of progressive reform and asserted international leadership in building a New World order. In 1917 he proclaimed American entrance into World War I a crusade to make the world "safe for democracy." Wilson had seen the frightfulness of war. He was born in Virginia in 1856, the son of a Presbyterian minister who during the Civil War was a pastor in Augusta, Georgia, and during Reconstruction a professor in the charred city of Columbia, South Carolina. After graduation from Princeton (then the College of New Jersey) and the University Of Virginia Law School, Wilson earned his doctorate at Johns Hopkins University and entered upon an academic career. In 1885 he married Ellen Louise Axson. Wilson advanced rapidly as a conservative you ...
Just as South Carolina will always be North Georgia, UNC will forever be the pride of the Tar Heel State, win or lose. I believe the count is 133-104 in Carolina's favor. You would think for such an elitist Ivy League wannabe that Dook would have been able to transplant a plethora of talent from infamous cities like New Jersey. I think there's an MTV show if you're not familiar with this amazing breed. So once again, we are back to my original point... Like it or not, you are in my Tar Heel State!!
Reply with your favorite 2016 Presidential ticket...Democrat, Republican, Independent...it doesn't matter. Personally, I'm a fan of the Chris Christie (governor of New Jersey) - Nikki Haley (governor of South Carolina) ticket. For the moment anyway.

Ohio State Football Recruiting: Top Prospects Considering OSU ANDREW HALL This year’s Robert Nkemdiche is Da’Shawn Hand, a Defensive End from Woodbridge, Virginia. He is ranked by almost every recruiting service in the nation. The good news for the Buckeyes is they have offered the 6’4″ 245lbs athlete. The bad news is he probably will not be coming to Columbus as he Top 5 currently is Alabama, Florida, Michigan, South Carolina and Virginia Tech. Is Urban Meyer hoping that he goes to Michigan or Virginia Tech? Despite the Buckeyes not being in on Da’Shawn Hand, they are in with many of the top prospects for the 2014 class. Although it is early, recruits have been tending to make decisions earlier and earlier. Here are 5 of the best players that have mutual interest with Ohio State: Jabrill Peppers-The Cornerback from New Jersey is ranked as the 2nd best player in the nation. He checks in at 6’1″ 210lbs. Here is some perspective to clear the air. Robert Oomens 1) The 2nd amendment gave people in a well regulated militia the right to have a gun. 2) Only 22 states in the USA actually have a "WELL REGULATED MILITIA". 3) One of the state's militia is inactive. (Oklahoma) 4) Two states do not have a military division, (army division), but have a naval division. (Illinois and New Jersey) Some of the states that do have a militia have both the military and naval divisions. (Alaska, California, New York, Ohio, Texas and Virgina) The rest of the 22 states only have a military division. (Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Washington) 5) The Governor of each state is the head of that state's militia. 6) The state provides should be providing the equipment and discipline for the equipment. 7) If you are in the federal military, (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, National Guard), you are ineligible ...

Suicidal GOP senators join open-borders Dems for Shamnesty Redux By Michelle Malkin • January 28, 2013 03:07 AM Hey, did someone set the clock back six years in Washington? Because today looks a *** of a lot like the dawn of the Bush-Kennedy-McCain 2007 illegal alien amnesty. Deja vu all over again. Starring in the role of John Mccain this time around? Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio. Standing in for George W. Bush? Barack H. Obama. The usual liberal Democrat and bend-over Republican suspects serving as the supporting cast? Majority Whip *** Durbin of Illinois, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York, illegal alien intern employer Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and freshman Arizona Republican Sen. Jeff Flake. Here’s the gist of the new Gang-rene of Eight’s plan: According to a five-page document provided to POLITICO, the sweeping proposal — agreed to in principle by eight senators — would seek to overhaul the legal immigration system as w ...

In February of 1776 Solomon entered the service of the State of Virginia in the Revolutionary War, ten miles west of Ingles Ferry on the New River, in what is now Montgomery County, Virginia. Ingles Ferry (Radford) was an important station on the Great Road down the Shenandoah Valley, which was bringing numerous immigrants from Pennsylvania and Virginia into Tennessee, and on to Kentucky. As a 21 year old he was probably pioneering on his own, his family having remained in Frederick County. Virginia. He entered the 8th Virginia Regiment under Captain James Knox for a period of two years. They marched to Williamsburg, Virginia, to join Captain Henry Lee (known as "Light Horse Harry", and father of the Civil War General Robert E. Lee). Lee marched the troops through Halifax, North Carolina, and Charleston, South Carolina, to Savannah, Georgia. There being a necessity for troops in the north* they were taken to Philadelphia, then marched to Middlebrook, New Jersey, to join the main army. Solomon was there se ...

South Carolina may soon join the ranks of states struggling to reclaim their constitutional sovereignty stolen from them by the federal government. On December 11, South Carolina State Representative William Chumley pre-filed a bill in the South Carolina General Assembly that would prevent the enforcement of ObamaCare within the borders of the Palmetto State. Using language that would prohibit state officials from participating in the implementation of state healthcare exchanges or from enforcing the individual mandate that are key elements of ObamaCare, Chumley’s measure — the South Carolina Freedom of Health Care Protection Act — requires state lawmakers to “prevent the enforcement of the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” [ObamaCare] within the limits of this state.” South Carolina, a state with a long history of resisting federal despotism, joins three other states currently considering bills nullifying ObamaCare. The state legislatures of Maine, New Jersey, and Oklahoma have a ...

the following was posted by Courtney Burke on hubpages.com The Civil War is Coming The Constitution of the United States of America Source: Wikimedia Commons Something interesting has been happening (and rather quietly) in America over the past week, and it is something of which everyone in the world should be aware. Since November 7, citizens from several states have taken the first steps to secede. Louisiana was apparently first, and Texas, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, Mississippi, Indiana, North Dakota, Montana, New Jersey (surprisingly), Oregon, Colorado, New York (shockingly), South Carolina (led the charge last time around), Michigan (not going to happen), Tennessee, Missouri (didn't follow through last time around), and Arkansas soon followed suit. That brings the total number to 19 states and probably counting. [Update: Since this article was published, the number of states submitting petitions has increased to 47, and Texas has officially gained the 25,000 signatures requi ...
my letter to Speaker John Boehner Dear Speaker John Boehner, I think I saw a brief clip of you stating that you want to work together with the other members of the government to help all in this country. I do hope that you will be able to do this. When you took the gavel as Speaker of the House, you no longer were just the representative of a district in Ohio but you are the representative of all Americans. You represent all my family and friends in Washington, Texas, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and New Jersey. I have very few rich friends or family. Most are working, some are having a very rough time, others are receiving SNAP and WIC, and many are on Social Security and Medicare, and a few on Medicaid. This summer my husband and I drove to West Chester to meet you and the “Nuns on the Bus”. We saw the Nuns but not you. We were there to support them as they presented the “Faithful Budget” to your staff in ...
Below is an email sent to our Corporate office we would like to share with all of our friends. Good Evening, Just wanted to take a moment to send some Jersey love and thanks to your company. I live in Manahawkin NJ 7 minutes from the coast of Long Beach Island. Thankfully I was not effected by the hurricane other then loss of power for a few days. But so many of my neighbors and friends lost so much in New Jersey. I stopped in a local gas station market on route 72 in Manahawkin today and had the honor of meeting 4 of your guys from South Carolina. I knew by the southern accent they were not from here, and I could tell by their dirty boots those boys had been working all day.. I had to take a minute to ask them where they were from and if they were here to help. They smiled very politely and said "yes ma'am". "Been here since last Thursday". I don't have much but all I could do was look at them and tell them from the bottom of my heart I thank them for being here, told them New Jersey loves them, and made ...

My thoughts and prayers are with all the friends I have in the New York/New Jersey area. I was living in South Carolina when Hurricane Hugo struck there in 1983, so I can empathize a bit, but it was nothing like you're going through now. Hope everyone is safe.

Tracking Hurricane Sandy - Chuck Pierce I know that so many of you are following the monstrous storm that poses a serious threat for the entire Eastern Seaboard. As of this evening Fox News shares: “Forecasters say Sandy is a massive cyclone, with hurricane-force winds recorded as far as 100 miles away from the eye of the storm. Tropical storm warnings were issued for parts of Florida's East Coast, along with parts of coastal North and South Carolina and the Bahamas. Experts said the storm could be wider and stronger than Irene, which caused more than $15 billion in damage, and could rival the worst East Coast storm on record. Up and down the coast, people were cautioned to be prepared for days without electricity. Several governors, including Connecticut's Dannel Malloy and New Jersey's Chris Christie, declared states of emergency. Mandatory evacuations were under way in southern New Jersey's barrier islands, which people were ordered to leave by Sunday afternoon, and Christie ordered the evacuatio ...
In July 2003, Mitt Romney used his Jet Ski to rescue a New Jersey family and their Scottish terrier McKenzie out of Lake Winnipesaukee while their boat sank. Mitt Romney refused to take his father’s trust fund money, he financed his way through college, and he donated his father’s inheritance to charity. The main reason Mitt Romney has paid a lower tax rate than normal for high income earners is because of his donations to charity. Another factor is that his income is taxed twice; first at the corporate level, then as an individual. He has also tithed more than $4 million to his church. At a campaign stop in South Carolina, Mitt emptied his wallet for a woman having trouble paying her light bill named Ruth Williams. The woman was in difficult circumstances due to her desperately ill son. Mitt Romney recently stated in unequivocal terms that the Federal Reserve should be audited. As he responded to a questioner at a campaign stop, “The Federal Reserve should be accountable. We should see what they’ ...
"After the 2010 census, electoral votes were added to states that lean Republican in elections: Texas, Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Georgia, South Carolina, and Utah. Deep blue Democrat states like New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, and Massachusetts lost electoral votes. That brings up an interesting point. Why is everyone running away from these ultra liberal, high tax states in the first place? Isn’t that alone proof of the failure of Democrat ideas?" - Wayne Allyn Root

"The Mr.President" 1. Win a local office and skyrocket to state representative by opposing the incumbent closest to death. 2. Become governor and cling to a primarily populist agenda but throw a little pork to the fat cats by luring at least one major corporation into the state. Balance yourself politically by taking a hard-line stance on the death penalty while quietly cutting funding for executions. If the economy is up take credit. If the economy is down, blame the legislature or, if you’re in a border state, illegal immigrants. 3. After two terms begin campaigning for president. Generate a progressive platform that panders to your party’s extremes but can seamlessly convert to a more centrist stance after the primaries. Sink your money into Iowa and New Hampshire, make an appearance in South Carolina and Nevada, and set up camp in Missouri and New Jersey if you still need Super Tuesday to win the nomination. 4. Finally an internet connection! At a Days Inn in Fancy Gap, VA a few miles from the North Carolina border. No "Griswold" moments yet. Leaving Harrisburg, PA, I caught a glimpse of Three Mile Island and wanted to go closer. GPS couldn't and Mike wouldn't try to get us there. So he let me take the side trip to Harpers Ferry instead (yeah-finally! - Bethany Rose Clark and Meredith Anne Clark). It was so much more than I expected...the village, battlefields, hiking trails and views. Must go back. Tomorrow we (hopefully) drive 10 hours and get to Florida. We will drive through North and South Carolina and Georgia before we get there. We have already driven through Vermont, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia.
Here is some American History concerning the conscience of it's people and the rights we should have concerning this liberty. Then when America separated from Great Britain in 1776 and the states created their very first state constitutions, they openly acknowledged Christianity and jointly secured religious toleration, non-coercion, and the rights of conscience. For example, the 1776 constitution of Virginia declared: That religion, or the duty which we owe to our Creator and the manner of discharging it, can be directed only by reason and conviction, not by force or violence; and therefore all men are equally entitled to the free exercise of religion according to the dictates of conscience; and that it is the mutual duty of all to practice Christian forbearance, love, and charity towards each other. [14] Similar clauses appeared in the constitutions of New Jersey (1776), [15] North Carolina (1776), [16] Pennsylvania (1776), [17] New York (1777), [18] Vermont (1777), [19] South Carolina (1778), [20] Mass ...
Good read... By KIMBERLEY A. STRASSEL Tampa, Fla. Republicans meet at the Tampa Bay Times Forum this week to spell out their vision for the country. It needn't be an exercise in imagination. The party's transformative spirit is already on vivid display, thanks to a crop of reformist Republican governors. With the GOP stymied in Washington, these state leaders—from Chris Christie in New Jersey to Scott Walker in Wisconsin—have become the heart of the conservative movement, many pursuing the sort of thorough overhauls of government once considered impossible. In many cases, the changes are already showing dramatic, positive economic results. Think of the reform governors as the vanguard of the far-reaching policy reforms that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan now want to bring to the national arena. "If you want a sense of what the party is, what it really stands for, and what it can do, this is the right place to start," says one of the trailblazers, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels. He has cut his state's budget, r ...

Attorney Richard Wilbourn's Comments to the MS Dept. of Insurance's Advisory Board on Obamacare and Implementation of State Health Care Exchanges July 11, 2012, Jackson, MS I. Seventeen states are not moving forward or barely moving to implement exchanges. Some like New Jersey have announced that they are going to take a “wait and see” posture to figure out what other states are doing and to identify all possibilities. II. Of the 17, five states (Wisconsin, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana and Texas) have announced they positively will not implement a state exchange. Gov. Rick Perry has said, “If anyone was in doubt, our state has no intention to implement so-called state exchanges or to expand Medicaid under ObamaCare. I will not be party to socializing health care and bankrupting my state in direct contradiction to our Constitution and our founding principles of limited government.” Meanwhile, Mississippi is aggressively moving forward with implementing its exchange. Last week, NPR did a segme ...
Bro. Mordecai Gist Born in Maryland in 1742, grew up in Baltimore and ran a successful shipping business. In 1775, he took part in organizing the Baltimore Independent Company of Militia which, in 1776, was part of the contingent sent to help Washington in New York. Instrumental in delaying the British at the Battle of Brooklyn Heights, he attended the Convention of Military Lodges at Morristown, New Jersey, and was elected its President on January 9, 1780. Though unsuccessful, one of this convention's resolutions was to recommend an American Grand Lodge with George Washington as Supreme Grand Master. Gist became Worshipful Master of the Maryland Military Lodge whose records were captured by the British at the Battle of Camden, South Carolina, August 16, 1780. However, these records were later returned to General Gist by Lord Cornwallis, the British General, himself a Mason, who surrendered at Yorktown.

Four More Years! President Obambie "The private sector is doing JUST FINE." Let’s take a closer look at the private-sector-dominated economy that Mr. Obama says “is doing fine.” * Unemployment is rising, now at 8.2 percent nationally, but much higher in 17 states across the country, including New York, 8.5 percent; Florida, 8.7; South Carolina, 8.8; New Jersey, 9.1; North Carolina, 9.4; California, 11.2; Rhode Island, 11.2; and Nevada, 11.7. This is fine? * 24 million workers are unemployed, underemployed or have given up looking for work, pushing the jobless rate to 15 percent. *In the 3 1/2 years of Mr. Obama’s presidency, nearly half of college graduates cannot find full-time work that is commensurate with their educational training, and many are forced to work part time, temporary or settle for low-pay counter work at places like Starbucks. * High school graduates are having even a harder time getting work, according to a recent report from the John J. BUT WE REALLY KNEW THIS, DIDN'T WE. Harvard economist Seth Stephens-Davidowitz conducted an interesting study on racials views and voting. Eschewing traditional easy-to-manipulate survey methods where one tends not to say what one is really thinking and mining online searches where people are usually alone and less likely to censor their thoughts, he found a direct connection between voting against Obama in 2008 and racially tinged online searches, as found in state/county election results. Since 2008 he found the term "Obama" mixed in with most racially-tinged online seraches. States with the most racial/Obama animus? Surprise: West Virgina, Lousiana, Mississippi, Texas, Kentucky, Alabama, South Carolina, Arkansas. What is really surprising is some normally racially tolerant states had pockets of this kind of thinking and pattern: south Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey and parts of Michigan. Least prejudicial: Hawaii, Colorado, Utah, Minnesota, New Mexico and DC. The data suggested ...
The state with the highest racially charged search rate was West Virginia, where 41 percent of voters chose Keith Judd, a white man who is also a convicted felon currently in prison in Texas, over Obama just this May. Louisiana, Pennsylvania, Mississippi, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Alabama, and New Jersey rounded out the top 10 most-racist areas, according to the search queries used. And then they say Black folks are "ignorant" because we intend to vote for him Because he's Black ..
Given one century to attain the sheer, magnificent power of breaking even, South Carolina proudly maintains a tradition handed down from one generation to the next. Plumbing new depths in futility the University of South Carolina Athletic Department forges into a new century, one that promises to be as desperately hopeless as the last. Entering the 2008 season, South Carolina can point to an all-time winning percentage under .500 (521-523-44), which ranks 88th all-time in D-1A football. Only 29 programs have bested this profile in sub-mediocrity. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Fourteen people in at least nine states have been sickened by salmonella after handling tainted dog food from a South Carolina plant that a few years ago produced food contaminated by toxic mold that killed dozens of dogs, federal officials said Friday. At least five people were hospitalized because of the dog food, which was made by Diamond Pet Foods at its plant in Gaston, S.C., the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. No pets were sickened, according to the Meta, Mo.-based company. Click here for the company's recall website.
