THIS DAY IN BLACK HISTORY DAY SOUTH Carolina State University ORANGEBURG,SC MASSACRE FEB 8,1968 The Orangeburg massacre is the most common name given to an incident on February 8, 1968, in which nine South Carolina Highway Patrol officers in Orangeburg, South Carolina, fired into a crowd of protesters demonstrating against segregation at a bowling alley near the campus of South Carolina State College, a historically black college. Three men were killed and twenty-eight persons were injured; most victims were shot in the back. One of the injured was a pregnant woman. There is a possibility that Kent State could play in a BCS bowl. The same Kent St that Kentucky beat 47-14. Meanwhile, the loser of UGA/Bama, LSU, Texas A&M and South Carolina will not be. This system is a joke.
Kent State was beaten by Kentucky by 33 points. Do you think they should have a shot at a BCS game? Over Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida State, or Stanford?

The Indians today announced that the club has signed INF Nick Hamilton, the organization's 35th round selection in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. He will report to the Indians' Arizona League (Rookie) entry in the coming days. Hamilton, 22, recently completed his red-shirt junior season at Kent State University, batting .337 (60-178) with 12 doubles, 2 triples, one home run and 35 RBI in 54 games (43 starts). The switch-hitter also compiled an .838 OPS (.394 OBP/.444 SLG) for the Golden Flashes, who earned the school's first ever berth to the NCAA College World Series before getting eliminated by two-time defending-champion South Carolina in Kent State's third game of the tournament. The Avon Lake HS graduate played one season at Xavier before transferring to Kent State prior to his sophomore year. He is the son of Wendy Hamilton and Indians broadcaster Tom Hamilton. The Indians have now signed 19 of their 40 selections from the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
Michael Roth pitched a two-hitter and two-time defending national champion South Carolina eliminated Kent State from the College World Series with a 4-1 victory on Thursday.
I cannot believe that i am saying this... I have to give Kent State's baseball team credit for their run to the College World Series. That run ended today with a 4-1 defeat at the hands of South Carolina. However there is some positive news here... It means that the voice of the Indians Tom Hamilton will be back on the call of Cleveland Indians Baseball tomorrow night.
:-(( Well, that ends it. Final score 4-1, a two-hitter for South Carolina with the last 22 Kent State batters retired in a row, with eight strikeouts and a complete game for South Carolina's pitcher, who faced only one batter over the minimum in a brilliant performance. Well, congratulations to the Golden Flashes for a great series in their first-ever College World Series appearance, even knocking off the country's number one ranked Florida State. South Carolina was going to be a challenge no matter what because they've won the CWS the last two years.
Well, Kent State falls to the Goliath of College Baseball ... Roth was too good today, and South Carolina has a great team. Awesome season for KSU ... Thanks for the great fun watching you all season long. As soon as LeBron gets his ring tonight, NBA becomes worthless - and we're on to the FOOTBALL SEASON !
The Winking Lizard Tavern hosted a party for baseball fans wanting to watch the Golden Flashes take on South Carolina in the College World Series, but were left empty-handed when the game was canceled because of rain in Omaha, Neb.
Kent State's College World Series game with South Carolina has been postponed until tomorrow. The game will be played at Noon et in Omaha.
hard to believe but I watched 90% of an NBA game last night, the other 10% I had to check in on the College World Series, our of the last 6 teams there, 3 were SEC, go figure, still have 2 of the 4 there, tonight South Carolina vs Kent State,
Florida State sends UCLA home with a 4-1 win Tuesday night. Tonight one game: Kent State vs South Carolina at 7pm.
Kent State Golden Flashes defeated and eliminated seed Florida in the NCAA College World Series last night. Tomorrow is South Carolina (winner of the last two CWS). Wearing the KSU ball cap proudly today @ FT Bragg. It was a sweet victory as Florida eliminated the NC State Wolfpack in the Super Regionals. In a perfect world Kent State would play the NC State Wolfpack for the CWS title. GO FLASHES!
South Carolina and Kent State tomorrow.Jamie Hootman do you think the Golden Flashes can upset the 2-time national champs?
Arkansas doesn't seem to be getting any respect at the College World Series. In order, coaches picked: Florida (25) FSU (11) Arizona (8) Stony Brook (7) South Carolina and UCLA (6) Kent State (3) Arkansas got no votes
Wo *** ..The College World Series will be under way this Friday.here's the lineup...Stony Brook, UCLA, Arizona, Florida St., Kent State, Arkansas, South Carolina and Florida.Of course my team to cheer for will be Stony Brook as this is their first time ever to come to the College World Series...btw they are from Long Island New York.Omaha will no doubt adopt them too as they usually do all the first timers.I am so excited...love, love, love the College World Series.Omaha we Rock
As a person of the Northlands/Midwest I am just going to say go Kent State (my mom's alma mater) baseball. Good luck in the College World Series against the rest of the SEC based bracket--Arkansas, South Carolina, and Florida.
SEC gets 3 teams into the College World Series. Florida, South Carolina (defending 2X defending champs), and Arkansas. SEC!...SEC!.SEC! Of course, I would NOT want to be the team that has to play FSU early on. Can you say 35 runs in 2 Super Regional games??? :-O Congrats to relative unknowns Stony Brook and Kent State for getting to Omaha!
Florida, UCLA, Florida State, Arizona, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kent State, and the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
We have so many rooting interests in the '12 CWS. Underdogs Stony Brook & Kent State, FSU coach Mike Martin seeking his white whale, South Carolina looking for history and Dave Van Horn returning to Nebraska...among others. So who are you rooting for? Tell me your preferences.
