Thanks to Coach Johnson for initiating soccer youth development around North west. I am therefore delighted to see the likes of Kodisang Kobamelo at the elite tem doing wonders on the pitch and assisting Platinum Stars to clinch maximum points against the big teams like Kaizer Chiefs. I am still waiting to see the likes of Charles Baloyi, Gift Links, Thembelani Matlabe, Sbisiso Mabiliso,Mohau Tonyane,Khunou Katlego and many more from the development side. Yes, they are doing better at school academically and very down to the ground, they are like other learners. South Africa should await and see rejuvenated Platinum Stars very soon. Time is ticking. First it was Nkandla, now its Senzo Meyiwa. They even want to make a statue and rename a highway for him. He played 6 games for South African National Team n kept 4 clean sheets. Thts enough to make him a national hero. South Africa is indeed celebrating mediocrity,i feel bad for the '96 Afcon winning team. Will they receieve a state burial??? Was Senzo better than gold winning Mbulaeni Mulaudzi. Hope they shoot and kill Kaizer Chiefs striker Sphelele Mthembu.
South Africa's national soccer goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa has been shot dead by burglars during a break-in, a killing that shocked the country and turned the spotlight once again on gun violence here. At an emotional news conference on Monday, Meyiwa's colleagues paid tribute to the 27-year-old, who was hit by a single round in the chest on Sunday night as he confronted two intruders at the home of actress and singer Kelly Khumalo. Meyiwa, who was shot in Vosloorus township southeast of Johannesburg, was dead on arrival at hospital, police said. His death highlighted the problem of gun violence in South Africa only days after Paralympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius was jailed for five years for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year. This weekend's Johannesburg derby between Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates - the club Meyiwajoined as a 13- year-old and ended up leading - was postponed as a mark of respect. The derby is usually played in front of 90 000 fans. Richter told their official website, “The Chiefs setup is professional. The facilities are similar to what you will find in Europe. You have the best opportunity to grow as a leading club in Africa.” “Stuart’s a quality coach, and I knew that he’d be great for Chiefs. It was difficult when he first came because some journalists started a story that he’d embellished his CV, which was complete rubbish.” - Steve Kapeluschnik. Knowledge Musona to return to Kaizer Chiefs for Caf Champions League next 2015 One of South Africa's glamour clubs, the Amakhosi has confirmed they will participate in Caf competition this season Kaizer Chiefs confirmed that they will participate in the Caf Champions League. This comes two months after the club expressed their doubt about handling the extra fixture burden due to the 2015 Afcon also happening this season. Amakhosi Chairman Kaizer Motaung made the clubs intentions official on the radio to MetroFM with Robert Marawa on Thursday night. This raises the likelihood for popular forward Knowledge Musona's return to Chiefs in January 2015. Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung explained the circumstances surrounding the Zimbabwe international's future. Musona was happy to return to Chiefs this season, but he wanted the option to return to Europe when the opportunity arose. For this reason a deal didn't make 'business sense' for Chiefs. Supersport United coach Cavin Johnson says the club would be willing to stand in as the fourth South African participant in CAF continental competitions next year, should Kaizer Chiefs opt out of participating. "If it so happens I think we would be keen to compete in Africa because testing ourselves in Africa would be good for the team," Johnson said on Saturday. The United tactician was speaking at Lucas Moripe Stadium after his side were crowned Gauteng Football Cup champions, beating Mamelodi Sundowns 4-3 on penalties. "How else will the players grow if we don't play the best against the best teams on the continent?" CAF announced last week that South Africa would be allocated two spots in its Confederations Cup, and two spots in the Champions League. With Chiefs yet to confirm their participation in the competition, media reports suggest the Glamour Boys may skip the competition entirely. Nahayo has not joined Pirates Valery Nahayo’s representative says talks of the defender having joined Orlando Pirates are far off. Reports on social media claim that the former Kaizer Chiefs man – who in March told KickOff.com of his desire to return to the PSL – has penned a deal with the Buccaneers. But his representative Miguel Paiva tells KickOff.com that it is just transfer talk and that they recently met with his Belgian club regarding a possible move to another European club. The Burundian, whose current deal runs until June 2015, first arrived in South Africa in the 2004/05 season with Jomo Cosmos, where he played over 100 games before joining the Amakhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs to Release Bukenya on Loan Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya will receive a season-long loan-away from the South African giants Kaizer Chiefs next season as Amakhosi boss Stuart Baxter hopes to see the Ugandan get experience in the South African top flight league. According to information from South Africa, Bloemfontein Celtic lead the race to sign Bukenya for a year, with Pretoria University also hopeful.
With Keegan Ritchie looking likely to leave Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, there could be a chance of Kaizer Chiefs looking to tempt him back to Naturena. The left-back only left South Africa earlier this year after Slavia had transfer bid accepted by the Glamour Boys, though a change of management in Europe has seen him drop out of favour. It was reported by the Siya crew recently that the 23-year-old had returned to Mzansi prematurely in order to sort out a visa issue, though it now seems unlikely that he will be returning. Slavia’s Sporting Director, Karol Kisel, told the Czech media this week, “Keegan Ritchie will probably leave, but it is not yet definite.” With that in mind, and Chiefs on the lookout for a new full-back, Stuart Baxter could look to bring Ritchie back to the club and have somebody who already knows his system and already knows the Amakhosi’s style of play. Ritchie who was also very complimentary of both Chiefs and Baxter following his departure, may be open to a return ...

KAA Gent defender Valery Nahayo is open to a move back to the PSL, with Supersport United or Orlando Pirates likely to be his next destination. Goal can confirm The former Kaizer Chiefs player struggled to command a regular spot in the Gent starting line-up during this past season. Nahayo could only make 10 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League. Goal contacted his agent Miguel Paiva, who spoke exclusively to us about the Burundi international's current situation at the Belgian club. "At the moment, its up to the club to decide his immediate future. But the PSL could be an option. Everything will be clear very soon," Paiva told Goal. The 30-year-old former Burundi captain enjoyed his stay at Amakhosi between 2008 and 2011, winning the 2008 MTN Cup as well as the Telkom Knockout Cup double in 2010. He was then sold to the Belgian club in 2011. If Gent decide to offload the tall defender, he won't be short of admirers in South Africa. I made it clear from the beginning when i came back that my aim is to go back to Europe and, if not, i would stay at Kaizer Chiefs . I won't go to any other club here in South Africa.
Now here's one reason Orlando Pirates is the best team in South Africa and Kaizer Chiefs ke Nyoso fela When the Mighty Buccaneers attempted to win the CAF for the second time, our noisy neighbours didn't support us, and thought we wouldn't make it at all. And yes we didn't, but we managed to reach the finals, something that no team in South Africa ever did. And by doing so, we accumulated so much points that the PSL can now send two teams to participate in CAF and two teams to the CONFED. Now that is why the undeserving Zebras are going to participate in africa (and like always, they'll disappoint). So after Caf, don't be surprised to hear excusing like, "we want to focus more on the league". Mxm Ungrateful bunch of.

If you are a Kaizer Chiefs fan must READ !!! Siza Mnguni share his thoughts which players should Amakhosi bring on board and which players should be released Siyabonga Nkosi :- One of the best passers of the ball that South Africa has seen in recent years but I think he will be an asset at clubs like Bloemfontein Celtic, Golden Arrows or AmaZulu. He is no longer energetic and will give you one brilliant perfomance in a month or so. Looking at the standard of the opponents, such theories won’t help much in tightly contested league like Absa. Lucky Baloyi (loan) :- Having come through the club’s development structures is the only hindrance in Sheriff’s career – a midfielder who can do better and be rated amongst the best if he tried his luck at teams like Xerox or Maritzburg United. He keeps having the impression that his chance will come but truth be told, chances of him becoming a starter anytime soon are more than slim. Mandla Masango :- I can show you more than 20 people who have left Masang ...

Nedbank Cup takes centre stage in SA By Graeme Jackson The 2014 Nedbank Cup resumes in South Africa this weekend, with the last 16 round kicking off in Cape Town on Friday evening when Santos host Orlando Pirates at Athlone Stadium. The People’s Team are two-time winners of the National Cup and have caused the Buccaneers problems in cup competitions in the past, meaning Vladimir Vermezovic’s side will have to recover quickly from their Soweto Derby loss to Kaizer Chiefs if they are to avoid slipping up on this potential banana skin. Saturday’s action sees a repeat of the 2010 Nedbank Cup final when AmaZulu welcome Bidvest Wits to Durban for an afternoon kick-off. The Clever Boys crushed Usuthu 3-0 in that final four years ago, which was also the first competitive match played at the refurbished FNB Stadium. With home advantage on their side this time, AmaZulu will be looking to send Gavin Hunt’s side packing. Two further all-PSL clashes on Saturday see Platinum Stars, who are chasing a domestic cu ...
Tinashe Nengomashe was unknown in South African football until 2002/2003 season when he joined Kaizer Chiefs. Some South Africa newspapers went on to label him as a 'foreign flop'. In season 2003/2004 the Harare born midfielder guided Amakhosi to the PSL title and became the 'PSL Footballer of the Year’, ‘Player’s Player of the Season', he was also the winner of Kick Off Magazine’s ‘Soccer Player of the Season’ Tinashe is well known for his ball distribution and ability to marshal the midfield. He made unforgettable partnerships with players like John ‘Shoes’ Mosheu, Thabo ‘Tsiki-Tsiki’ Mooki, and Jabu ‘shuffle’ Pule. He appeared 324 times for Glamour Boys. After 2011/2012 season, Nengomasha's talks of a new contract with Kaizer Chiefs failed to succeed and he then signed for Bidvest Wits on a 3-year deal. KHUNE TO MISS BRAZIL MATCH Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana have been rocked by the news that Itumeleng Khune will be ruled out for at least 10 days after suffering a sprained ankle. Reyaad Pieterse replaced Khune in the Chiefs goal before kick-off of their 4-0 victory over Liga Muculmana at Moses Mabhida Stadium after the skipper went over his ankle during the warm-up. Siphiwe Tshabalala was handed the armband for the match. Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter has confirmed to KickOff.com that Khune suffered a sprained ankle and is very likely to miss South Africa's prestige friendly against Brazil on 5 March. "Khune sprained his ankle, he twisted it, and he is doubtful for Bafana's friendly match against Brazil on Wednesday next week," confirmed Baxter. "We will go for the scan tomorrow and we hope it won't be long, but from my view of things, it will be a miracle for him to feature against Brazil. Why Parker's Mzansi's Best Attacker We look at why Bernard Parker is the most productive and best attacking player in South Africa right now... by David Minchella Feb 25, 2014 Kaizer Chiefs PSL Kaizer Chiefs forward and number 10, Bernard Parker, is on fire once again for both club and country. So dominant is the 27-year-old hitman that he was recently awarded the best player gong for the first two quarters of the PSL season. He is arguably the most productive and talented player in the country right now, although his compatriot at Chiefs, Itumeleng Khune, has a strong case to be thought of as Mzansi's best defensive player. Nonetheless, Parker's record for the Glamour Boys can't be ignored. The hallmark of a top player is how that one indvidual improves the fortunes of a team as a whole. For example, a goal-poacher like Lehlohonolo Majoro may win you a handful of games when he's scoring. However, when he's not it could be argued that his contribution to the team is minimal. In Parker's case if he's not s ...
Bafana may be down, but they are not out, says Doctor By: LOUIS MAZIBUKO Doctor Khumalo is not losing any sleep over Bafana Bafana's date with Brazil at FNB Stadium next month. The Bafana legend says he expects Coach Gordon Igesund's charges to compete against the Seleção, even though the South Americans will visit South Africa just weeks after the embarrassing Chan debacle. "We may be down after our disastrous Chan tournament, but I don't think the morale is low," says the former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana midfielder. "Guys always want to measure their game against the Brazilian superstars. This is one game that will raise our spirits. I would have loved to see the coach giving two or three promising youngsters a run in this game." Pillars toppled, Chiefs, Raja coast (AFP) Sunday 16 February 2014 Share Pillars toppled, Chiefs, Raja coast © Getty Images Nigerian club Kano Pillars made an unexpectedly early exit from the Caf Champions League this weekend despite a 2-1 win over Congo DR visitors Vita. The Kinshasa club, who won the competition 41 years ago, advanced 4-3 on aggregate having built a two-goal first-leg advantage last Sunday. When the 2014 draw for the premier African club competition was made, the Vita-Kano clash stood out as the highlight of the preliminary qualifying round. And most pundits believed 2009 semi-finalists Pillars would prevail and probably face South African side Kaizer Chiefs during March for a group stage place. Chiefs, who draw 1-1 with Black Africa in namibia to cruise into the round of 32, must be relieved that Pillars have been eliminated. Kaizer Chiefs have safely landed in Namibia ahead of today afternoon’s Caf Champions League second leg against Black Africa. Stuart Baxter has chosen to leave some of his major players, such as Itumeleng Khune, Bernard Parker, Siboniso Gaxa and Tefu Mashamaite in South Africa for the second leg after they secured a comfortable 3-0 win at home. This follows news that the club and the player are still locked in talks with a view to extend the player’s stay at Ikamva. • Nhlanhla Vilakazi, is close to making his full return to Maritzburg United's first team, whereas new signing Kurt Lentjies' availability is less certain after he suffered a hamstring strain against Kaizer Chiefs. • For ...
Ajax Amsterdam playmaker Thulani Serero has been recalled to the South Africa squad for the friendly against Brazil on March 5. Serero’s return will be a major boost for Bafana Bafana fans as they take on the might of the South Americans. Otherwise it is a largely unchanged squad, Supersport United defender Thatho Mokeke keeps his place after impressing in the recent African Nations Championship, while there is also a recall for his clubmate Dino Ndlovu. Andile Jali, who recently moved to Oostende in Belgium is also part of the group, which will be captained by Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune. “Ït’s not everyday that one gets to play against five-time world champions,” Igesund said. “This is a great opportunity for us to continue from where we left off against Spain last year. We played Brazil in Sao Paolo and narrowly lost 1-0. They are the hosts of the 2014 World Cup, so they will definitely be taking this match seriously as you can see from the squad they have selected. “Ï also h ...
I Prefer Europe – Uzoenyi Rangers International of Enugu winger, Chrisantus Ejike Uzoenyi has opened up on his targets in the transfer market, with a confession that he felt no qualms about missing out on a deal in South Africa, as his sight is on playing in Europe instead. Although the 2014 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) most valuable player acknowledged that his initial stint in Europe, with Stade Rennes of France ended abruptly because he was not able to cope with the cold weather, he admits it would still be better for him to seek a return rather than opt for time in South Africa. Online media reports indicate that seven South Africa clubs are eager to sign the former Heartland of Owerri and Gateway United of Abeokuta fleet-footed star, with Orlando Pirates, Supersport United and Mamelodi Sundowns leading the way. Also showing interest in the 25-year-old player’s signature are Ajax Cape Town, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Platinum Stars and Kaizer Chiefs, but they may all end up disappointed, as ...
TV blackout for Chiefs v Black Africa? Posted: 11 February 2014 Kaizer Chiefs fans face a potential TV blackout of the second leg of their Caf Champions League preliminary round clash against Black Africa in Namibia on Saturday night. It is unclear yet whether the match will be televised, either in Namibia or South Africa, with the club considering not showing it live in an attempt to get more people into the Independence Stadium in Windhoek. “If the people are able to watch the match on TV, they will not make it to the stadium,” Black Africa owner Ranga Haikali told the Namibian Sun. In any event, he says that he has not received any offers from a broadcaster to show the game live. “Up to now nothing … but we are open to discussions,” he said. The first leg, won 3-0 by Chiefs this past weekend, was not shown live in Namibia after the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) baulked at the R100 000 cost of taking the feed. Initially the NBC had reportedly negotiated a swap deal with the South Afr ...
HERE IS A LITTLE SUMMARY ABOUT CHIEFS IN CAF Kaizer Chiefs make a return to African club competition this weekend after an absence of eight years, in part because of a ban on the club imposed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The Amakhosi will represent South Africa in the African Champions League and carry with them the weight of expectation from across the country following the exploits of Orlando Pirates in reaching the final of last year’s tournament. The Buccaneers’ success in the tournament reignited local passions for an event that has otherwise received little interest in the last decade. Perhaps that is as a direct result of Chiefs’ non-participation, but now that they are back in it, the pressure will be on to compete and go deep into the competition. It is in fact just the third time in their history that the Naturena side will compete in Africa’s top club competition, a surprising statistic given their status as South Africa’s most successful club. Saturday’s prelimin ...
Kaizer Chiefs have point to prove in Champions League South Africa's Kaizer Chiefs are feeling the pressure to do well as the Champions League kicks off this weekend after rivals Orlando Pirates reached last year's final. Chiefs return to the competition after a nine-year hiatus as South Africa's representative and start their campaign on Saturday with a home tie in the first leg of their first round encounter with Black Africa from neighbouring Namibia. After Pirates's success last year, and a sudden upsurge of interest in pan-African competition from usually haughty South African fans, Kaizer Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter says he hopes his side will not be burdened by expectations. "We do think that Pirates have raised the bar for South Africa and we have a duty (to try and emulate them) but it is not an obligation that is weighing us down. The most important thing is we have to play, we have to represent the club and everybody else," the Chiefs coach told BBC sport. "We do feel the pressure but I'm hoping ...
Katlego Mphela has joined Kaizer Chiefs on a six-month loan ahead of a permanent move in July.
Etafia Home For Sick Father Moroka Swallows of South Africa goalkeeper, Greg Etafia is back home in Nigeria, on compassionate leave from his club, as the former Super Eagles star has to check on his father, who is said to be ill. The former Plateau United of Jos shot-stopper, who grew up in Kaduna, has received compassionate leave from his club to check on his ailing father, which means he will miss Friday’s Absa Premiership clash with Kaizer Chiefs at Dobsonville Stadium. Etafia, who has played 327 times for Swallows, since he joined in 2002, signed a contract extension with the PSL club earlier this month, which will keep him at Moroka for three more years. Now that he has travelled home to see his dad, Etafia will not return in time for the league encounter between top-placed Chiefs and sixth-placed Swallows, meaning his ever-present run this season will come to an end after 14 successive league appearances and two more in the Telkom Knockout. Instead, The Birds’ 33-year-old Serbian, Igor Bondzulic ...

Junior Yunus Sentamu (Striker, Uganda) The 19-year old striker was the new star for the Uganda team as they finished third in Group B at CHAN 2014. The SC Vipers striker scored all the three goals for Uganda in the tournament and his individual input and his style caught the eyes of many teams and scouts. Although the striker is back in Uganda, the likes of Orlando Pirates and Ajax Cape Town are trying to see if they can get the striker now or in time for next season. Kudakwashe Mahachi (Midfielder, Zimbabwe) The gifted midfielder has been very instrumental for the Warriors of Zimbabwe in all four of their games in the tournament so far. Before the tournament, he had trials with Mamel ...
Kaizer Chiefs will be without their top Bafana Bafana players when they take on the Nedbank Ke Yona team at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday The AmaKhosi needs to give their players a rest ahead of a taxing Caf Champions League campaign coming up, and with some of them having already participated at Chan for South Africa. Chiefs assistant coach Doctor Khumalo told Goal that they don't want to overload their players with extra games, hence they will use some of their senior players together with players from their development ranks.
Greed killing SA football from the bottom up 26 January By Lungani Zama Durban – A tree grows from the bottom up. That much is not rocket science, but as we survey the football landscape of South Africa, it is abundantly clear that most of our key stakeholders are still looking at the senior National Team as the main concern. While the rest of Africa show us what the future holds for them, in a tournament being fought out by others in our backyard, the nation winces in the weary confirmation that, despite the billions that have come in and out of our coffers, we still have an Everest to climb. “Of course, the problem is not just at the top,” former Bafana player Delron Buckley said this week. “Yes, it is disappointing to see the National Team play like that, but who would want to play for them after what was said about them this week? Players are now petrified of expressing themselves and making mistakes, and that can’t be good for our football long-term,” he pointed out. Buckley, now at Marit ...
Johannesburg – Like a thunderstorm would undo all the hard work on a car that’s just been through a valet, the Bafana Bafana job has ruined many coaches’ great reputations. As Gordon Igesund and his loyalists try to convince us he’s blameless in Bafana bombing out of the African Nations Championship at the first hurdle, history sadly says otherwise, just as the team’s poor record over the past decade left an indelible mark on his predecessors’ CVs. Igesund failed to lead Bafana to this year’s World Cup, one of the conditions he had agreed to when he took up the job. But while he could get away with the excuse that the damage had already been done when he took over – albeit South Africa failed solely because they lost to Ethiopia in a match in which he was in charge – it is difficult to absolve him of blame for the embarrassment that was the Chan. It is a huge dent on his impressive CV, which includes four domestic league titles with as many clubs. But now he has to walk around with the s ...

'United not interested in Ndlovu' 2014-01-10 Supersport United coach Cavin Johnson has denied the club is aiming to bring Bafana Bafana striker Dino Ndlovu back to South Africa in the current transfer window. Reports suggested Matsatsantsa are looking for a loan deal in the final six months of the 23-year-old's contract with Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, before making the deal permanent when his contract expires in June. But Johnson shot this down, saying at this stage the club was not interested. "There is no attempt to bring Ndlovu to Supersport United, none at all," he said. United are in the hunt for a striker after missing out on Lehlohonolo Majoro when the player decided at the 11th hour he did not want a move from Kaizer Chiefs to Tshwane. At this stage, it appears as though Ndlovu is not on that wanted list, with various sources at the club unwilling to talk about player movements after they felt they were burnt by the Majoro affair. What is known is that Ndlovu wants out of Haifa, where he has alle ...

Gordon Igesund expects to have players from Kaizer Chiefs in his South Africa camp on Sunday. Chiefs have been reluctant to release goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, defenders Tsepo Masilela and Tefu Mashamaite, midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala and striker Bernard Parker until the knockout stages after their January 23 meeting with Mamelodi Sundowns. But after a series of meetings between the SAFA, the PSL and Chiefs, the latest on Saturday, Igesund says he expects the AmaKhosi players to be released. “The talks have been very positive, later on today I will hear the full status but the Chiefs players will hopefully be arriving on Sunday, I expect them to be here,” Igesund said at a press conference on Saturday. “I want to offer my thanks to Chiefs and [owner] Kaizer Motaung in particular for assisting in this regard.” Igesund has a full compliment of players from the rest of the team in camp, bar Bidvest Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs who is in Cape Town, but the Bafana technical team have not been able ...

PROBLEM FOR DEMBARE? By Robson Sharuko There has been so much noise in South Africa generated by Kaizer Chiefs over the releasing of their players to the Bafana Bafana team for the CHAN finals. The Amakhosi feel that they need to retain their players and release them to the CHAN team only after they play their crucial league match against Mamelodi Sundowns on January 23. Now, the Glamour Boys of Zimbabwe provide seven players — George Chigova, Oscar Machapa, Augustine Mbara, Themba Ndlovu, Partson Jaure, Tawanda Muparati and Simba Sithole — in the 22- man Warriors CHAN squad that will compete in South Africa. They also provide their coach Callisto Pasuwa, who is the Gorowa’s assistant in the Warriors’ technical team. Unlike Chiefs, they have no power to hold on to any of their players and, if the Warriors go all the way to the final, there is a possibility that Pasuwa will only train his Champions League team for just a few days before they plunge into their first match. That isn’t their biggest ...

Baxter: Khune's overseas move will be natural progress Goal caught up with Kaizer Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter for an in-depth chat about his captain Itu Khune's performances and future in South Africa or abroad By Ernest Makhaya 27 Dec 2013 Goal: After winning the Goal South Africa Player of the Year, what next can you ask for in your keeper? Baxter: I think Itu's challenge is enormous. It is to continue the job he has been doing and the desire to improve despite winning so many individual awards. I think that's his greatest challeng right now, because you have to deal with success the same as you deal with failure and at the moment he has been doing very well. Goal: What do you think of Khune's performances in 2013? Baxter: I think many people look at one outstanding save, and if he doesn't make that save then they don't give him the man of the match award, but that's not the way the coach looks at him. I mean you look at your goalkeeper in terms of presence, in terms of communication, in terms of charact ...

Parker: I'm a professional 2013-11-21 18:09 Maano Nekhavhambe - Sport24 Cape Town - Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker says his professional approach to the game helped him overcome the heartbreak of scoring an own-goal against Ethiopia in a World Cup qualifying game played in Addis Ababa back in June. Bafana suffered a 2-1 defeat which proved decisive in their qualifying campaign, with the Ethiopians going on to advance to the last round of playoffs in September. The Amakhosi goal-poacher made amends for his mistake earlier this week when he scored the winning goal for South Africa against reigning world and European champions, Spain, at the FNB Stadium. Parker did well to compose himself after collecting a through-ball from Oupa Manyisa before flicking it over the already committed Spanish goalkeeper, Victor Valdez, in the 56th minute. It was his 19th goal in Bafana colours and took him past Phil Masinga (18) in South Africa's the top five goal-scorers list. Speaking exclusively to S ...
Stand-in captain Josta Dladla says the drama in Botswana gave Kaizer Chiefs a taste of what the Caf Champions League will be like. Chiefs will represent South Africa in next season’s Champions League, after winning the Premiership last season. Amakhosi travelled to Gaborone to play reigning Botswana League champions Mochudi Centre Chiefs on Saturday. South Africa’s Chiefs won the match 3-0, with Lehlohonolo Majoro bagging a brace after Mandla Masango opened the scoring. However, the clash was marked by minor drama, after the Centre Chiefs players refused to come back on the field after half-time. The players were demanding appearance fees from the organisers. This after local log leaders Defence Force XI took the Botswana Premier League to court on Friday, after their match against Centre Chiefs was postponed in to make way for the Kaizer Chiefs game. Kaizer Chiefs’ Coach Stuart Baxter was then involved in an altercation with a Botswana journalist during the second half. But Dladla says he is please ...
Barring the absence of their Bafana Bafana internationals, Kaizer Chiefs will take their whole team to Botswana this weekend. The Amakhosi leave South Africa today to make the trip to Botswana as they prepare to face the nation’s champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, in a friendly encounter. Chiefs For Botswana Clash Stuart Baxter will be without the likes of Tsepo Masilela, Tefu Mashamaite, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Bernard Parker, who are in Swaziland on international duty with Bafana, although will be taking his other stars. However, despite the first team’s presence in Botswana, it is unlikely that Baxter will field his usual starting XI in the friendly, with fringe players like Ivan Bukenya, Brilliant Khuzwayo and Lucky Baloyi set for places in the team. Chiefs don’t have a competitive game until November 23 when they play Platinum Stars in the Telkom Knockout semifinal, although four of their players are likely to feature in next week’s international friendly between South A ...
BDF XI attempt to stop Chiefs friendly match BDF, Chiefs clash moved to Tuesday It appears an amicable solution has been reached after Premier League log leaders Botswana Defence Force XI’s attempted to stop a friendly clash between Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa. BDF XI had written to the Premier League registering their displeasure over the friendly match. BDF XI officials are unhappy that their match against Mochudi Centre Chiefs has been postponed in favour of Kaizer Chiefs. On October 29, Kaizer Chiefs marketing manager Jessica Motaung was quoted as saying: "We will see who the real Chiefs of sub-Saharan Africa are." BDF’s fixture against Centre Chiefs was initially penciled in for Sunday, November 17, but it has since been moved to Tuesday in order to accommodate Centre Chiefs’ friendly against Amakhosi – dubbed the Clash of the Champions – on Saturday at the National Stadium. The chairman of BDF Boikanyo Addenes argues that official matches cannot be put aside in ...

Im a die hard Kaizer Chiefs fan.I have to say that Orlando Pirates did us proud not only did they put South African football on the map but the whole Southern African region, they represented. I don't understand why I should be over the moon and be proud of them loosing when we cant even beat Ajax Cape Town...Pirates did not only show physical fitness but they showed that mentally they are capable of making it in Africa. The lost to a team that has not played domestic football for close to two years but boasted experience on the African continent. What Pirates did was to throw a challenge to Kaizer Chiefs since they will be in the tournament next year. I can only hope that my team can represent us as Orlando Pirates did. Lastly we should be proud that IT WAS AN ALL South African TEAM THAT PIRATES PLAYED WITH.So I cant rejoice because they lost because they have achieved what Kaizer Chiefs has not yet achieved in all its years in the PSL, NSL.So as Khosi fans lets just sit down and pray ukuthi we don't get ...
Kaizer Chiefs can only play soccer in South Africa, they need to show more in Africa, so a Kaizer Chief fan that criticizes should consider himself dumb.Bhakajuju 4lyf.
Am a proudly Kaizer Chiefs fan,but izolo i wnt lie i was fully behind our guys unfortunately they couldnt make it,.but that doesnt change the fact that they are the best team in South Africa,i feel heartly sorry for humble Dr Irvin Khoza.:(
My approach to the Orlando Pirates vs Al Ahly game was - South Africa vs Egypt. I am a big Chiefs fan but I wanted Pirates (South Africa) to win. The founder of Kaizer Chiefs Mr. Motaung was once a Pirates player but because of quarrels within Pirates Mr Motaung moved and formed a team we know as Kaizer Chiefs today. This explains why Chiefs was formed almost three decades after Pirates. So if you laughing at Pirates loss know that you laughing at Chiefs too.
There are two teams in South Africa: Orlando Pirates and the rest. This thing of calling Kaizer Chiefs our "rival" must stop. Kaizer Chiefs cannot be our rival simply because we are at different levels in terms of quality. Our rival is Al-Ahly. The African continent is our battlefield while the battlefield of Kaizer Chiefs is confined within the borders of one country, South Africa. No, comrades,... Chiefs is not our rival. Chief's rivals are Sundowns, Black Leopards, AmaZulu FC, Polokwane City FC and all these other clubs. Not Pirates! We are too advanced to be in a rivalry with people who don't know what it's like to play with Africa's best! *Kaizer Chiefs is pursuing a South African agenda. Orlando Pirates is pursuing the African Renaissance agenda. Period!*Just hope di hout kop bo Jackie and the rest ba understander nou
Dutch like what they see at Ajax CT By Rodney Reiners Cape Town – The visiting Ajax Amsterdam delegation departed the Mother City with sweet memories of a wonderful trip to these shores – and left behind some sage advice on the way forward for Ajax Cape Town and their youth development programme. After the negative publicity in May, when the Dutch club’s director of football Marc Overmars hinted that they could terminate their link with Ajax Cape Town, the PSL club suggested the former Arsenal and Barcelona winger withhold his comments until after he had made a trip to the Mother City and saw for himself what was taking place here. This week such a visit took place as Ajax Amsterdam sent their top officials to Cape Town to have an in-depth look at the running of their satellite club in South Africa. In attendance from the Dutch giants in Amsterdam were Michael Kinsbergen (chief executive), Jeroen Slop (financial director), Overmars, Wim Jonk (head of youth) and Ruben Jongkind (head of talent develop ...
This is how he would explain Orlando Pirates to an English analyst... Ndife: "Orlando Pirates is a South African club based in Johanessburg. It was formed in 1937 and has given birth to other teams like Kaizer Chiefs and Jomo Cosmos. The team is now widely known all over the world. "The chairman is none other than Dr Irvin Khoza, the Iron Duke. Pirates is the first club since the inception of the Premier Soccer League in 1996 to have won three major trophies in a single season back to back (Double Treble). They are the only South African team to have won the Caf Champions League, which they did in 1995. "Bucs will win their second one in November 2013. Our nicknames are so many, they include among others the following: Buccaneers, Bucs, Ezikamagebhula, Sea Robbers, Happy People, Amabhakabhaka,Ezimnyama Ngenkani (The black ones). "When you put the cross sign, everyone knows, you are saying Orlando Pirates. We are also know for wearing the most beautiful soccer jerseys in SA. Do not forget, we have beaten t ...
The EFF launch was epic and the atmosphere was electric. The closest comparison to the atmosphere at the Koppie in Marikana is that of a Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates final match at the FNB stadium. Fighters came in the numbers from various branches around South Africa in struggle songs and dance with some carrying “Vuvuzelas.” The crowd was jubilant and singing praise songs of the EFF and Malema around the mountain. The EFF launch was well attended by ordinary South Africans whose EFF message resonates with them. This included miner workers, community members, AMCU union members in their green “T-shirts” and UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa who also addressed the crowd. There were well over 20 000 people who attended the EFF launch on 13 October 2013. Some political analysts have suggested that the EFF will receive just below 10% if we are lucky and some even have gone far as to suggest that EFF will get not more 2% of the vote in 2014 general elections. May I remind you that COPE which was formed ...
Chiefs Legends v Liverpool confirmed Some of the greatest names in Liverpool's history will be on show when their Legends side meets their Kaizer Chiefs counterparts at Moses Mabhida Stadium on November 16. The likes of former defender Phil Neal, who won an astonishing 22 medals during his time at Anfield, former Kop favorite and England international John Barnes, twin strike sensations John Aldridge and Robbie Fowler, as well as Durban-born goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar are just some of the top names set for the match. "We have always enjoyed fantastic support in South Africa where Liverpool is as loved as anywhere else in the world," Barnes says. "It will be an honour for us to play in front of these passionate fans and show some of the skills that have not only won us many trophies, but millions of friends around the world too. "We have a great respect for the Kaizer Chiefs club, who are South Africa’s most successful ever team and themselves are known around the world. They too have had many great pla ...

Warriors beat over-rated Bafana in a friendly by Sports reporter South Africa 1 - 2 Zimbabwe A lively Zimbabwe proved to be too much for Bafana Bafana as the Warriors claimed a 2-1 win over the hosts at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday night. The Warriors looked the more dangerous of the two sides and created a few decent half-chances in a slow first-half but Bafana goalie Darren Keet did not have to make many saves. Washington Arubi, in goal for Zimbabwe, was also hardly troubled as South Africa lacked any cutting edge in the final third. The game livened up after the interval and goals from Knowledge Musona and Cuthbert Malajila proved to be enough. Bernard Parker lashed in a very late goal but it was too little too late. Arguably the best chance of the half came just two minutes in when Kingston Nkhatha found his Kaizer Chiefs teammate Knowledge Musona but he curled his shot over the crossbar. Five minutes later Nkhatha charged toward a ball over the top but Keet did well to judge the danger and had come ...
THERE were no league matches for the Zimbabwean players abroad at the weekend due to the World Cup qualifiers, but the Warriors return to action tonight when they face South Africa at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Kick Off 8:30pm. Wellington Toni This is the first time that coach Ian Gorowa has had more than one foreign player in his squad after calling up only Willard Katsande for Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Mozambique in a Group G 2014 World Cup qualifier. This time around, he has called up eight more as he looks forward to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which will begin next March. Back in the squad are the usual culprits Knowledge Musona, who is yet to score on his return to Kaizer Chiefs from Germany. He has received unnecessary pressure from the South African media and other football critics, but has the backing of his Coach Stuart Baxter that he will soon hit the nets. On Sunday, Musona scored for Chiefs in a friendly match against Mpumalanga Black Aces, as they won 3-0. Mandla Masango ...
SA AND ZIM BOAST RICH RIVALRY BAFANA Bafana have both fond and tragic memories of facing Zimbabwe over the past two decades ahead of tomorrow's 13th meeting between the two countries at Orlando Stadium. The friendly fixture is a first between the pair in two years, with Zimbabwe having won the last in Harare in November 2011 despite Bradley Grobler scoring on debut for Bafana. Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona netted a brace to give the Warriors the win and he will again be the danger man tomorrow despite his perceived lack of form. Bafana edge the head-to-heads with six wins to Zimbabwe's five, and a single draw. Both sides have netted 13 goals, suggesting matches have been tight , barring their first encounter that ended in a heavy 4-1 defeat for South Africa in a 1994 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Harare . The return fixture the following year ended 1-1. A year later and the team's met again, this time in a home friendly international that South Africa won 1-0 thanks to a late Phil Masinga go ...

Zvasiya joins Greek side WARRIORS and Kaizer Chiefs defender Lincoln Zvasiya has realised every African player’s dream of playing in Europe, though not in the thunderous English or Spanish league. Zvasiya will be playing in the Greek Super League after his club Kaizer Chiefs secured a loan move for the towering rearguard with OFI Crete. A relative of Zvasiya confirmed yesterday: “It is a true the little man has done it. He has broken into Europe, something he has always dreamt of. He is off to Greece any day from tomorrow (today). God is great. I organised the deal for him, but Chiefs refused to sell to the club although the Greek club wanted a longer contract with him.” The 22-year-old was used sparingly last year by Coach Stuart Baxter, with Eric Mathoho, Tefu Mashamaite and Morgan Gould often being picked ahead of him. According to South African publication, Soccer Laduma, the Amakhosi, as Chiefs are popularly known in South Africa, are hoping that the defender will enjoy a good experience on loa ...
Zimbabwean Senior National Team central defender Lincoln Zvasiya has moved to Greece's topflight club OFI Crete on a one-year loan from South Africa's ABSA Premier Soccer League champions Kaizer Chiefs, the SOWETO club has officially announced on its website. The Greek club thought to have been interested in buying the player outright, settled for season-long loan deal with Chiefs. Amakhosi on the other hand have decided to play it safe by allowing the player to go on a year-long loan to increase his value in Europe before selling him for more money. The situation, believed to be mutually beneficial to all parties involved was aptly described by Chiefs Football Manager, Bobby Motaung to the Chiefs website on Friday afternoon. "Lincoln is a top player. We looked at the Team and thought it will be best for him to get game time at another club. Bobby suggests that there is a potentially for a permanent deal in the near future should Zvasiya settle in Greece. "We will continually monitor the situation and det ...
Kaizer Motaung In a sense, South Africa's favorite soccer club never plays an away match - Kaizer Chiefs, founded by SA soccer legend Kaizer Motaung, draws more supporters at away games than its opposition 'home' teams. As a youngster, Motaung dreamt of pulling on the black and white strip of the legendary Soweto club Orlando Pirates. At the age of 16 his dream came true, and he quickly established himself as one of the stars of the side. Then, in 1968, former West Ham United player Phil Woosnam, who was managing the Atlanta Chiefs in the recently formed North American Soccer League (NASL) in the United States, came to Africa looking for new talent. He recruited Motaung after trials held in Zambia. At first the move was a big shock to the system for the young striker. ANY STORIES YOU WANT TO SHARE ABOUT CHINCHA GULUVA?
Absa Premiership and Nedbank Cup Champions Kaizer Chiefs will not go to Italy for their pre- season tour Kaizer Chiefs Coach Stuart Baxter confirmed to Isolezwe that his club will not travel, just a few days after the AmaKhosi told Goal that the trip was in the hands of the club coach. "It is true, we will not be going to Italy anymore. We will do our preparations here in South Africa. We will use different types of competitions to prepare ourselves so that by the time comes, we are ready to defend the league title and the competition title," said Baxter. Kaizer Chiefs is now expected to play in the Gauteng Cup which they will be defending and then the Carling Black Label against Orlando Pirates on the 27 of July. In the MTN Cup they will battle with University of Pretoria who they have never beaten in their history so far. Baxter said they are looking forward to this tournament. "It is not going to be an easy encounter since Tuks have always given us a challenge. I will never forget how we were eliminate ...

Johannesburg - PSL champions, Kaizer Chiefs, could well be making their way to Europe in the near future as they plan for a possible preseason camp in Italy. According to the Soccer-Laduma website, it's thought that Chiefs, who won the PSL and Nedbank Cup titles last year, are eager to take on two Italian Serie A teams ahead of their 2013/14 campaign, in order to fully prepare themselves for their title defence. Amakhosi’s Head Coach, Stuart Baxter, spent several years working in Europe, building up an extensive contact base, something that it is believed he is using in order to try and organise the potential trip. There has been no confirmation as to whether the trip will go ahead. Baxter is due back in South Africa on the 29th of June after holidaying in Sweden following the end of his debut season in the Absa Premiership. Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will clash on July 27, with the title of 2013 Carling Black Label Cup champions up for grabs.
A homesick Ayanda Patosi may be considering a return to South Africa. However, only one team, Kaizer Chiefs, will do.

Collins Mbesuma The British press once dubbed him ‘the African hurricane’ and in South Africa they called him 'Ntofo Ntofo' - a not too complimentary reference to his bulky frame. However, there is no doubt that Zambia's Collins Mbesuma stormed South Africa's footballing scene unlike any other player of the last decade. He set new standards in front of goal but more importantly, propelled his club Kaizer Chiefs to a second successive Premier League title. That did not look possible for a few months but Mbesuma's goal scoring spree ensured Chiefs their title, including a hatrick on the opening match of the season against Dynamos and another hatrick past former Bafana Bafana and Fulham goalkeeper Arense Andre’ against Sundown and both goals in a last decisive end-of-season match against Bloemfontein Celtic. Mbesuma scored 35 goals in the season - a new record set since the unification of the country's professional league in 1978. There was 25 in the league, which won him the Golden Boot award, plus te ...

Vladimir Vermezovic’s agent Ivica Stankovic has denied approaching Orlando Pirates to offer the coach’s services. The former Kaizer Chiefs coach was sacked by Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade towards the end of April and he has apparently expressed interest in returning to South Africa. Also linked with the Pirates hot seat is former Ajax Cape Town coach Foppe de Haan as Roger De Sa’s future looks increasingly unsettled at Parktown.
Irvin Khoza and Kaizer Motaung have destroyed soccer in South Africa, I so wish Abdul Bhamjee could come back. Yes he stole money, I so wish Sticks Morewa could wake up, yes he stole some money. A Rich country with nothing to show for it, where everyone steals money for themselves.
Pagels and Katsande has a touch of ‘93 There has been considerable pressure exerted on Pagels to consider Willard Katsande, after the midfielder’s grand performance for Kaizer Chiefs, and it’s difficult to understand, from a layman’s view, why our best performing player in Super Diski should be out and a lot of others, including some who can’t even command a regular jersey in their teams, are in the Warriors’ squad. Katsande doesn’t play for a Mickey Mouse football club, like Black Leopards, Chippa United or Thanda Royal whatever, but for the biggest team in South Africa where the pressure is relentless, in every game, and for him to do as well as he did in the just-ended season, is a credit to both his remarkable talent and big heart. When you are asked to fill the shoes of a legend like Tinashe Nengomasha, at a club like the Amakhosi, and you don’t just do that but shine brightly, and play a huge part in helping to deliver the club’s first league title in eight years, you certainly can ...

Germany Bundesliga side, Hamburger SV, have emerged as frontrunners for the services of Kaizer Chiefs defensive midfielder, Willard Katsande. The Siya crew revealed back in April that an unknown German club were monitoring the combative midfielder, though the interested club has now been named. This follows a stellar season in which the Zimbabwean international helped Chiefs cruise to a league and Cup double, claiming their award for Most Improved Player. According to a Siya source, the Germans have already opened negotiations with Chiefs, having been impressed after watching the 27-year-old in league action against SuperSport on 15 May and the 1-0 loss to Pretoria University three days later. The club’s scouts also watched Chiefs lifting the Nedbank Cup final and had viewed DVDs of the player before making their trip to South Africa. Katsande, who recently landed back in Zimbabwe for a holiday, says that is flattered by Hamburger’s interest and hopes negotiations between the Germans and Chiefs yield ...
The Moses Mabhida Stadium has hosted a long list of successful events since its completion. World Cup soccer, local giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in PSL and cup action, the Indian cricket team playing the Proteas, and Neil Diamond crooning away have all taken place under its mighty arch. But it has felt as though it is missing something that would separate it from the rest. Something like the Stig driving a Formula One car around a bespoke tarmac track, perhaps? This year’s Top Gear Live in mid-June will see the tame racing driver speeding around Moses Mabhida in the championship- winning 2011 Red Bull RB7 Formula One car. Not only is it a first for South Africa, but a world first for a Formula One car to be driven around a conventional stadium, says Top Gear Festival spokesman Kelly Fenning. “The Stig driving the Red Bull car is unique.” “The guys at Red Bull don’t even know who he is and they are giving him this multimillion-rand car.” The RB7 was the car in which Sebastian Vettel ...

NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR PAGELS, BUT GOOD FOR HAMBURG ZIMBABWE international midfielder, Willard Katsande, is reaping immediate rewards for his stellar season in South Africa and could seal a blockbuster move to Bundesliga side Hamburger SV. Katsande was one of the standout players for South African Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs as the Amakhosi won a League and Cup double. The Zimbabwe midfielder enjoyed good reviews in the Absa Premiership with his Coach Stuart Baxter, an Englishman, saying the anchorman was the best defensive midfielder in Super Diski. Zimbabwean players appear to have turned the anchorman role at the Amakhosi into their portfolio. Before Katsande's arrival that position, for close to a decade, was monopolised by another Zimbabwe international, Tinashe Nengomasha. Baxter singled out Katsande among the five outstanding players who drove Chiefs to the League and Cup double. There have also been a public outcry here for the gritty midfielder to be included in the Warriors' squad, which begin ...
Bafana Bafana down Lesotho in a friendly Orlando Pirates midfielder Tlou Segolela scored two goals in each half to help Bafana Bafana see off Lesotho 2-0 in an international friendly match played at the Setsoto Stadium in Maseru, Lesotho on Sunday, 2 June 2013. South Africa remains unbeaten against the Mountain Kingdom with five victories in six meetings, with the other match drawn. The match got off to a flying start with Bafana creating several chances. Segolela opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime following a fine pass from Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala. It was an easy tap-in for the man nicknamed Sox. That goal gave the cheering Bafana supporters something to celebrate going into the break. Now Igesund has confirmed that Khune is the long-term captain of South Africa, and even if he is rested against Lesotho this weekend then he will return as captain for the World Cup qualifiers after that. At Bafana’s training at Germiston Stadium Igesund said, “Can I take this opportunity to say that Itumeleng Khune is the captain of the National Team from now on, I’m not going to keep changing it. Group Revealed: Baxter to the Future for double-winning Kaizer Chiefs. Naturena Junior on the drawing board No going Baxter: Chiefs double- winning coach Stuart AFTER his "once upon a time" start, the Stuart Baxter fairy-tale is only just getting underway. After a season which sees Sir Alex Ferguson bow out at 71 with the English Premier League title under his belt and Jupp Heynckes leave Bayern Munich at 68 with the Bundesliga and Champions League wrapped up, an end-of-era atmosphere pervades large swathes of football-speaking Europe. But in South Africa, the 58-year-old Baxter from Wolverhampton will not be thrown to the wolves. Last night, as he picked up Coach of the Season at the PSL awards, Baxter said: "There was pressure at Kaizer Chiefs, a big club without a trophy for so long. But it's been great. The game was heading for a draw when in the 88th minute defender Mor Diouf hammered the ball up field from his own half to catch goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands off his line to score what could very well be the goal of the season. - • Stuart Baxter admits that the run-in for the League title will be a massive challenge for Kaizer Chiefs considering they will be playing all over the country in their last eight matches. The Premiership teams will take a break from League fixtures until March 29 for some to focus on the Nedbank Cup, but Baxter says Chiefs will have to plan better to cope with the “severe programme”. - • Mark Fish says Bafana Bafana Coach Gordon Igesund has laid a solid foundation upon which to revive South Africa's ambitions of qualifying for the 2014 Fifa World Cup. The former Orlando Pirate ...
Stuart Baxter spoilt the derby because of his ultra defensive british football. Kaizer Chiefs never came to play but to defend throughout the game. European coaches are slowly but surely killing our traditional diski football of skills with the non-sense direct football. Orlando Pirates spent a lot of time camping at Kaizer Chiefs half. It is bad to come to the game with parking the bus approach. Kaizer Chiefs have good ball players but under that ultra defensive techniques, they failed to play to their utmose best. It wasn't a good game for the global audience who anticipated a lot from both teams. Only one team (Orlando Pirates) came to the party with Chiefs parking bus with few offensive movements. The game was never a good advertisement of South Africa football. It was dull game due to conscious , backward and boring defensive tactics. What's ur view about the overall derby perfomance?
If you love South Africa, you can't miss the match Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates. Its better than Real Madrid ...
A capacity 90,000 crowd and a global TV audience will watch a Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates tomorrow that could decide the South African Premiership title race. Chiefs hold a five-point lead over second-placed Pirates with nine rounds left. A win for the season-long pacesetters would make them firm favourites to become champions after the first season in charge for England-born former South Africa Coach Stuart Baxter. A win for Pirates would narrow the gap to two points and the team seeking a record-equalling third consecutive title have a match in hand because of Caf Champions League commitments. With even more at stake than usual in a fixture dating back 43 years, it was not surprising that tickets for the mid-afternoon Soccer City stadium showdown were sold out two weeks ago. On our phone topic what are your predictions for the this weekend's clash?

A South African soccer player called Phuso Phala ! Ladies and gentlemen, here we are talking about a player who was off-loaded and rejected by two of the biggest teams in South Africa because he failed to impress. The despised young man was then bought by a despised team Platinum Stars and bounced back as a totaly different player who played in all the games of the AFCON competiton for the National Team . AGAINSTALL ODDs, Thuso Phala, rose above his rejection by S.A's biggest teams and made history. AGAINST ALL ODDS , Phuso Phala, rose above critics and stunned the nation. So, how did all this happen? Number One , Phuso used his opportunity at the despised club Platinum Stars seriously. He did not see it as a disgrace to be rejected by the famous Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns, he saw it as a great opportunity! You see , champions see opportunity in every calamity, an advantage in every adversity and a comeback in everysetback! Phuso used time at the under-rated club Platinum Stars as an opportunity to grow . ...
Kaizer Chiefs have promoted talented young defender, Lorenzo Gordinho, registering him with the first team after he impressed during camp in the Africa Cup of Nations break. The 18-year-old, who came through Chiefs’ youth setup, is unlikely to turn out for the Amakhosi first team this season, although Coach Stuart Baxter and his technical team do believe that he’s one for the future. Gordinho is likely to play most of his football in Chiefs’ reserves for the rest of the 2012/13 campaign as they look to close the gap on Orlando Pirates in the Gauteng Monday League, although he could be called upon by Baxter if the club suffer a defensive crisis due to injury or suspension. The centre back was one of only two players that were registered by the PSL log leaders in this transfer window, with the other being youngster Reyaad Pieterse, a goalkeeper that used to play for Irish club Shamrock Rovers. Gordinho has already turned out for South Africa at several youth levels and was part of Solly Luvhengo’s u ...

( one of my diski360 article back then) Former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits defender, Wilson ‘Ninja’ Shendzelani has finally found a club to revive his soccer career in South Africa. Shendzelani joined the National First Division side Fc Cape Town at the beginning of the season after Pirates terminated his contract. Ninja told Diski360 that he is settling well in his new team and happy because he once played for Fc Cape Town. “I’m settling in well because I am surrounded by quality players here and I have played here before. So I know the philosophy of the team and the setup of the team” Shendzelani made only 23 PSL appearances while he was playing for Bidvest Wits and appeared only once for Orlando Pirates at the Telkom Charity Cup final against Kaizer Chiefs. “I don’t regret signing for Pirates because since I was there, I have learned a lot, even won 3 medals (Nedbank, MTN8 and league)," smiled Shedzelani. Kaizer Chiefs congratulates the Proteas and Bafana Bafana! A six from Ryan McLaren off the final delivery and a rapid 116 by Man-of-the-match Graeme Smith helped South Africa to a thrilling one wicket victory over New Zealand in the third ODI on Friday night. The Kaizer Chiefs Technical Team and Players were there to witness this as they took time off their busy schedule to support the Proteas. Graeme Smith is on the verge of making history as he will become the first player in the history of the sport to captain a team in 100 tests, having led the Proteas in 98 Tests to date and also captained the World XI against Australia. Congratulations to Bafana Bafana and Coach Gordon Igesund for making it into the Quarter-Finals of the AFCON 2013 as Group A leaders. National Pride! Team South Africa!

Chiefs Want Downs Game Postponed Current PSL leaders, Kaizer Chiefs, have contacted the PSL in an attempt to have their Absa Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns on February 12 postponed. Chiefs have seven of their first team players included in Gordon Igesund’s Bafana Bafana squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, and face Sundowns just two days after the tournament comes to an end. A high-ranking source at Naturena confirmed to the Siya crew that steps have been taken with regards to postponing the game and that the club are hoping that common sense will prevail. The Amakhosi have more players in the Bafana side than any other team, yet have still been given their first league game so soon after the tournament ends, meaning that if South Africa do have a good tournament then they’re players will hardly get any form of break. It seems that a letter has been sent to the PSL requesting the game's postponement, however it is thought that if it is agreed to, it will only happen if Bafana reach t ...
Khune: Down To Team Work Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune kept yet another clean sheet as South Africa defeated Angola 2-0 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday night, in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. Despite making some vital saves to keep the Palancas Negras at bay, the Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper said that the win was a team effort. He told the Siya crew that no player can be singled out for the win, with the entire side needing to take credit. “That's what we call team work. I was happy that I kept a clean sheet but it couldn't have helped if we didn't win. We worked as a team and we won the game. “We have worked hard since drawing the opening game to change the results and that hard work paid owhen we didn't just win but also didn't concede a goal," Khune expressed.

Benjani training at Pompey Despite South African Premiership football club Supersport United’s reported interest in him, Benjani Mwaruwari was spotted at English third-tier side Portsmouth training yesterday. The Zimbabwean was photographed being put through his paces at Eastleigh. However, according to portsmouth.co.uk, he is just keeping fit at the club. Although he was originally linked to South African clubs Mamelodi Sundowns, Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and his former club Jomo Cosmos, Benjani had been training at SuperSport on and off since September, and was close to putting pen to paper on a number of occasions. SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt said at the end of October that despite being highly impressed with Mwaruwari at training, the club could not afford his salary. However, the player said: “To be honest, I didn’t ask for much money from SuperSport, maybe I didn’t sign for a reason I don’t know.” Mwaruwari, who moved from his native Zimbabwe to South Africa to join Jo ...
Orlando Pirates vs. Kaizer Chiefs aka the Soweto Derby in South Africa, you've never seen anything like it!
Just had to rewrite this. South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune became a shot-stopper by accident and is now considered among the best on the continent ahead of the 2013 Cup of Nations. Desperate to support his family financially, he moved from north-western town Tshing to Johannesburg when only 12 for trials with popular and successful football club Kaizer Chiefs. Fielded as a defender, the teenager developed chest problems during an age-limit trial and was ordered to stand beside a goalpost and become a ball boy. As he dived spectacularly to block balls that missed the target, Khune caught the attention of a youth coach and a career that would take him to the National Team had begun. He was promoted to the first team squad and after a three-year wait got his chance when first choice Rowan Fernandez was transferred to a German Bundesliga club. After making his debut against Jomo Cosmos at the start of the 2007-2008 South African Premiership, Khune quickly made the No 1 jersey his own and the Amakhosi ( ...
I am a big Kaizer Chiefs fan with everything I have, and a fierce Orlando Pirates antagonist, but I'm so humbled by the way pirates' Thabo Matlaba play football. Wha a player the boy is. It won't be long before the young man plies his talent over seas. South Africa got a new star in Thabo Matlaba. Versatility is a trait that makes him to stand out against the rest. I wish him all of the best in his football career.

South Africa: Year 2012 in review The year 2012 saw Pirates wrap up their fourth PSL title, completing a second treble in two years after winning the Telkom Knockout and the MTN8 in a glittering season for the Buccaneers. Jomo Cosmos and Santos could not escape the drop into the NFD with Pretoria University and Chippa United securing spots in the PSL for the 2012-13 season. Siyabonga Nomvethe carried most of the accolades in 2012 after his superb 20 goal haul for Moroka Swallow, which saw Gordon Igesund's side finish only two points behind Orlando Pirates. Supersport United captured the Nedbank Cup but lost their second final of the year against MTN8 champions Moroka Swallows. The first half of the 2012-13 season has seen the rise of Kaizer Chiefs and the fall of Mamelodi Sundowns. Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament could be in jeopardy after he picked up a "nasty injury" in a Premiership match for Kaizer Chiefs against University of Pretoria on Saturday. Parker went down in a challenge during the game, played at FNB Stadium, and had to be stretchered off. Replays suggested he was in serious pain. “Bernard's (injury) is quite a nasty one. He twisted his ankle as he got kicked and he landed, and I think it's maybe ligament damage,” Baxter said after the game. Parker, the joint leading goalscorer with eight strikes in the league campaign, was included by Bafana Coach Gordon Igesund in the squad to play Malawi in an Afcon warm-up match in Durban on December 22. Igesund is set to announce his final squad on December 30, with Bafana playing two further friendly games before the start of Afcon on January 19. South Africa play Norway on January 8 at Cape Town Stadium and Algeria on January 12 at Orlando Stadium.
Itumeleng Khune believes the experience he has gained playing in the Soweto Derby will come in handy when he leads Kaizer Chiefs against Orlando Pirates on Saturday in a game he says they must definitely win to make the vast majority of South Africa happy.
Before the construction of this multi-purpose venue, all international football matches were played at the Eastern Province rugby stadium, the EPRU Stadium. The playing field is going to be of natural grass with the outer /surrounding area to be artificial turf. One of its first major test events was the coveted Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs -- a game that attracts capacity crowds in South Africa.

Johannesburg - The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for next year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) said on Thursday it was confident of delivering a trouble-free tournament. This, even though the pitch at FNB Stadium was in a bad way following the concert before the recent encounter between Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows, and might not be playable for the final match. South Africa will host AFCON from January 19 to February 10. Concerns have arisen about another concert, that of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which will be held at the stadium in the middle of the tournament. "The LOC will be writing a letter to CAF on behalf of stadium management requesting that they accommodate the concert, which was booked to take place in February next year," LOC CEO Mvuzo Mbebe said on Thursday. "Unfortunately, we came to them (stadium management) late and the concert was already booked and there were contracts in place and we just can't change them," he said. Even so, Mbebe said on Thursday that the stadium would not b ...

Zimbabwe is still rankling over the 'buy one, get two free' slight on their home grown talent now that it has emerged that Kaizer Chiefs pocketed close on R25-million from Germany for Knowledge Musona. The wound was reopened yesterday when a number of posh cars with South African registration plates were observed at Zim's League title decider between FC Platinum and Dynamos in Zvishavane. Football scribes point out that the cars did not belong to fans of either teams, but rather agents and South African team owners scouting for players to bolster their squads during the January transfer window. With Zimbabweans forming the largest foreign contingent in South Africa's Premiership with 19 players, the football fraternity are up in arms over the fact that their players are undervalued and are being sold cheaply; then resold by South African clubs for up to seven times move than they are bought for. When Chiefs bought Musona, Thomas Sweswe and Zhaimu Jambo no figure was revealed. However, Zim journos point ou ...

Kaizer Chiefs supported International Literacy Day by attending an event organised by the National Library of South Africa on Friday the 14th of September. The event took place at the National Library of South Africa auditorium in Pretoria and it hosted children from Children’s Homes and surrounding primary schools including guest of honour Ontlametse Phalatse, a 13 year old girl who is suffering from a rare disease. Kaizer Chiefs was represented by the Marketing Department that included Marketing Director Jessica Motaung and also two players; Lehlohonolo Majoro and Tefu Mashamaite. The faces on the children were lit up when the players entered the auditorium mixed with a roar of screams. A delegation from the Department of Education was present including well known Sophie Ndaba, the Generations' actress. Jessica Motaung who is an avid reader and book collector herself emphasised to the children that reading is important and that they should find joy in reading books. Love & Peace!

South Africa are currently in Sao Paulo ahead of Friday's friendly against the five-time World Cup winners as the team begin preparations ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. The last time the two sides met was in 2009, with Brazil going on to clinch a 1-0 victory in the Confederations Cup semi-finals. With new Coach Gordon Igesund set to take charge of Bafana for the first time since his appointment in June, Tshabalala is excited by the prospect of a new era under the former Moroka Swallows tactician. "We are aware this will not be an easy match and this should be a good test for all of us," the Kaizer Chiefs playmaker said. "We are working towards the 2013 AFCON tournament and the clash against Brazil will give us an indication of where we are. "We have played three times against Brazil and we have learnt a lot from those matches, especially the last one where we lost narrowly through lack of experience. Of cause I am a buccanner for life but Bobby Motaung's presence in Kaizer Chiefs is nothing but bad news not only to Kaizer Chiefs fans but to the entire foot ball community. The mighty golden black and perhaps South Africa's soccer leading brand is really done a disservice by this man. He has turned this great Soweto giant into a mediocre team. Kaizer Chiefs is and will remain great and big with and without him
