It's a person. We’ve generally won that argument over time, assisted by science. At the same time, I'm just sick to my stomach that we've come to this point -- 53 million abortions after Roe v. Wade -- we're at this point. Finally, some people are starting to ask the question, 'Well, if you can cut an unborn child's head off in the womb … why can't you do it a foot outside the womb?' It's a sad, sick world and it's a sad day. Expanding your attention outwards, be aware of your existence in the grand scheme of life here on Earth and what an honor and privilege it is to participate in the unfolding story of us. Claim the promise of Philippians 4:13: “I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” Start each day with this purpose and attitude: I have a job today, and that job is to do everything I can to find a job. Don’t allow yourself to get into negative thought patterns. Make it a matter of daily prayer that God will guard your mind against negative thinking and empower you to keep those thoughts true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable, as Philippians 4:8 admonishes us to do. 2. Remember that God is still sovereign, in the world and in your life. He is not caught by surprise at what has happened to you, and he has a plan to turn this experience into good for you. 3. Establish a daily routine and discipline. Get up early Spend an hour each morning in communion with the Lord Exercise each day for at least half an hour 4. Designate several hours a day for t ...

![]() NEW YORK, 15 May 2013 - The United Nations today issued a stark warning to the world's business community that economic losses linked to disasters are "out of control" and will continue to escalate unless disaster risk management becomes a core part of business investment strategies. UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, said: "We have carried out a thorough review of disaster losses at national level and it is clear that direct losses from floods, earthquakes and drought have been under-estimated by at least 50%. So far this century, direct losses from disasters are in the range of $2.5 trillion. "Economic losses from disasters are out of control and can only be reduced in partnership with the private sector which is responsible for 70% to 85% of all investment worldwide in new buildings, industry and small to medium sized enterprises. The principles of disaster risk reduction must be taught at business schools and become part of the investor's mind-set." The UN Secretary-General was speakin ...

In our community, children as young as 12 and 13 are helping to oppress us. Many of these children are misguided and involved in street gangs, they carry guns and use them on other Hebrews. And because of this, they have our community terrified of them. These young children run the community, they have the residents afraid of them, the preachers are afraid of them, and even to some extent the police are afraid of them. To you who are worthy and able to attend the temple, I would admonish you to go often. The temple is a place where we can find peace. There we receive a renewed dedication to the gospel and a strengthened resolve to keep the commandments. "What a privilege it is to be able to go to the temple, where we may experience the sanctifying influence of the Spirit of the Lord. Great service is given when we perform vicarious ordinances for those who have gone beyond the veil. In many cases we do not know those for whom we perform the work. We expect no thanks, nor do we have the assurance that they will accept that which we offer. However, we serve, and in that process we attain that which comes of no other effort: we literally become saviors on Mount Zion. As our Savior gave His life as a vicarious sacrifice ...

![]() The Value of “Youth” to the Cause of God BY Bro. TemiTope Adeaga (member of Youth Executive (C.A.C.) Athens, Greece. Which is the most difficult era of human life? Infancy? Adolescence? Mature adulthood? Agedness? It probably depends upon where you are as to how you might answer that query. While many might suggest that one’s “sunset” years are the hardest, my own judgment would be that the period designated as “youth” might be the most challenging. Youth is a frustrating time in life. It is that period when one is hardly old enough to be “on his own,” and yet he is feeling a sense of independence. Youth ever are attempting to find some sense of identity; that is why they sometimes act and dress so weird. They are bizarre! But then, so were we. The Scriptures represent “youth” as a time both of danger and challenge. Moses said that “the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Gen. 8:21), and Paul admonished Timothy to “flee youthful lusts” (2 Tim. 2: ...
![]() by Rick Warren “I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” (John 14:27 NLT) Everybody thinks they have the key to peace of mind — or at least they want you to think so, so you’ll buy their product. I saw an ad for a perfume the other day called “Peace” perfume. The ad promised, “Wear it to feel serenity.” Now, folks, if it were that easy, it would be great — just put on a little perfume, and you’ll have peace of mind. Peace of mind is such an important concept in life that people will do almost anything to find it. They will travel to exotic places at great expense. They will sniff a brain-destroying drug up their nose. They will experiment with New Age rituals. They will try all kinds of things. But the truth is, very few people in this world are at peace with themselves. Most people carry a high degree of stress, anxiety, or tension in their lives. As a pasto ...

![]() The Jerusalem Prayer List – May 16th, 2013By Joseph Shulam Yesterday was the day of Pentecost. The Jewish tradition in the day of Pentecost is to eat cheeses and good food and bring some kind of first fruit. In the Israeli Kibbutzim the celebration is big with music and dancing and baskets of fruit and vegetables are brought and dedicated. One of the customs in Pentecost is an all-night study of Torah and the Word of God in general. We have had a nice celebration every year since the 1970’s. This year it was a bit shorter than most years because of the little children. We have several families with toddlers and some with very young babies so we kept the celebration to three hours. We also have every year a cheese cake competition and this year there were five competitors. The prize was a very nice toaster and the sister who won the prize made a cheese cake with apricots from her own garden. There were two lessons presented about Pentecost one by a young leader and the other by me. ...

![]() by DAVID ROSS, CEO & Editor at Britain Express - In the churchyard of St Mary's church in the little Cumbrian village of Gosforth stands on of the real treasures of pre-Conquest England. This is the so-called Gosforth Cross, a slender column of local red sandstone carved into a Scandinavian cross fully 14.5 feet high. The cross was probably crafted in the late 10th or early 11th century, although some estimates place the date as far back as the 7th century. The shaft is peculiar in that it starts out round at the base and rises up to a square top surmounted by a small cross head. The cross is carved with a mixture of pagan and Christian images, leading most authorities to suggest that it was carved to show the triumph of Christianity over paganism. The cross is carved in a style called 'Gaut's interlace', a reference to Gaut's Cross on tyhe Isle of Man. The lower section is carved with a Norse Tree of Life, with the branches of tree creating a gorgeous interlaced pattern. The upper section of the cr ...

Later on Fokker developed many successful fighter planes, the Fokker D.VII and the DR.I, which is also known as the legendary 'Red Baron' for World War I. --- Between 1911 en 1928, Anthony Fokker developed his company to what once was the largest aircraft manufacturer in the world with factories in Europe and The United States. ![]() At least 40 killed in two coal mine explosions in China At least 40 miners have been killed and dozens injured in two coal mining accidents that occurred within 24 hours of each other in the southern Chinese provinces of Guizhou and Sichuan. The latest incidents, which occurred last Friday and Saturday, come just over a month after what the World Socialist Web Site described as “a week of human carnage in China’s mines.” The latest disasters underscore the continued absence of basic safety protections for Chinese mining workers amid the relentless drive by the government and companies for higher profit and output. Last Friday, an explosion in the Dashan coal mine in Pingba county, Guizhou province, killed 12 miners. Two were injured, one of whom suffered burns to 95 percent of his body. The remaining survivor was farther away from the blast. He later described his horrifying experience: “I pinched my nose, lay on my stomach and crawled forward in the darkness. There was no light. ![]() EVERY APPLICANT IS AN UNKNOWN In today’s world, tenant screening is a very critical step in the leasing process. You cannot judge a book by its cover; likewise, you cannot determine if someone is a quality tenant by mere appearance. Most, if not all property management companies require a background check on every applicant. It takes more than just verifying previous rental and employment history to make an informed leasing decision. For example, tenants who are evicted do not list that address as a current or previous address on rental applications. They might even state that they have been living with relatives for a number of years. Without FABCO, you run the possibility of renting to tenants with evictions and rental collections. COST EFFECTIVE Tenant screening minimizes damage to your property while maximizing cash flow. Checking an applicant’s credit, rental, and criminal history reduces the risk of fraud and gives you confidence in your leasing decision. Screening through FABCO also allows yo ...

The indigenous rhythms of live steelband and tassa drums resonated powerfully in the air, transporting the crowd to a Carnival dimension. ![]() When choosing the path to follow, I selected the road heading west. It began in the forest of childhood and ceased at the city of success. My bag was packed full of knowledge, but also some fears and some weights. my most precious cargo was a vision of entering the city's bright gates. I reached an impassable river and feared that my dream had been lost but I found a sharp rock, cut down a tree and created a bridge which i crossed. It started to rain and I was so cold, I shivered and started to doubt. But I made an umbrella out of some leaves and kept all the cold water out. The journey took longer than I had planned. I had no food left in my dish rather than starve before reaching my dream, I taught myself how to fish. I grew awfully tired as I walked on and on and I thought of the weights in my pack I tossed them aside and I spend up again. Fear was all that was holding me back. i could see the city of success just beyond a small grove of trees. At lasts I thought I have reached my goal! The whole w ...

Together we can make a difference, if our thinking is concentrated in the same direction. And this concentrated thinking power can defeat the other concentrated group of negative power, and then, we can better the world. That is also the purpose of our being here at this retreat, because we can change the future. No matter how bad the present is, we can still change the future, because we have the free will to do so. ![]() Dear Family, Friends and Interested Acquaintances, For the past seven months I (John Firestone) have been living in Kasoa, Ghana, working with Cheerful Hearts Foundation (CHF), whose main mission is to rescue children sold into labor in fishing communities by their families who are too poor to feed, clothe and house them. CHF rescues these children, returns them to their families and pays for their schooling so that the youth of Ghana have the opportunity to break the chain of poverty that causes their families to make such tragic and unhappy decisions. The project has opened my eyes to a world of exploitation and slavery which is commonplace in developing countries but rarely heard about or understood in the developed world. Through countless interviews, days teaching, conversations with strangers and my travels around Ghana, I have begun to see the issue more clearly and understand its causes. One of the schools CHF supports with volunteers like myself is the Day Star Academy in Senya Bera ...

Research shows that children who develop more skills in the preschool years perform better in primary grades. Everyone must be involved in developing early literacy skills, including parents. The National Institute of Health and Human Development has defined six specific early literacy skills that form the buildings blocks for reading and writing. These six early literacy predictors are print motivation, narrative skills, print awareness, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and letter knowledge. Children who enter school with more of these skills are better able to benefit from the reading instruction when they arrive at school. Every classroom at Small World includes a comfortable, cozy, well lit reading area away from the very active areas of the classroom, as recommended by the National Reading Association. In these . ...

Now, we walk at least half a mile to the tram. * Downtown Disney and California Adventure are still a horror of bad architecture and intrusion. * The lady at Guest Relations who was processing my annual pass for me, ignored me completely when I spoke to her several times, and made sure I knew it was deliberate. * At several places throughout the day I had to cheer the Cast Members up, and entertain them! They were real sour-pusses. One even smarted off to me when I asked how much something cost. * Small World, Trains, Mark Twain, Thunder Mountain were down, but not the price of admission. * The official coffee of Disneyland was changed from that mud that Nescafe makes, that I tried to drink at the park and Club 33 last Summer, has been changed to ...

![]() Exhausted after another day at Disney - the Magic Kingdom and it was truly magical. It was also a Small World brought to life with every language imaginable being spoken. So many shows, so many rides, so much people watching...and the fireworks, etc. were unbelievable. My tiny phone camera couldn't handle it's magic... Dropped the family off today and after driving around for over an hour trying to get back to our condo I'm here and enoying the calm. I'm pretty sure they're enjoying not having to slow everything down so I can keep up. Love you Jason Purdy and Kelsee Kappes Purdy

![]() It’s a Small World for Big Hearts From Connecticut to Pakistan by MEL KING and Rev. WILLIAM ALBERTS The horrible massacre in Newtown, Connecticut of 20 first-grade children and six teachers and other staff– and a mother and her son—has deeply moved the hearts of people across America. Many have come together, especially in interfaith services, to express their sorrow for and empathy with the victims, and to seek closeness with each other and comfort and answers. With an outpouring of compassionate statements by religious and political leaders nationwide and worldwide. One, Pope Benedict XVI, expressing “his heartfelt grief and the assurance of his closeness in prayer to the victims and their families, and to all those affected by the shocking event.” (“World leaders express sadness, pain,” By Cassandra Vinograd, Associated Press, Boston Sunday Globe, Dec. 16, 2012) Another, United Methodist Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar, writing, “May the God of love and truth surround this community of N ...

![]() Looking Forward. Looking Backwards. So it's a new year and only a month until our 4th Birthday. Who would have thunk it eh, on that snowy Valentines night when we put the tentative plan in to action, that we would still be here 4 years later & it all still being magical. 2012 was a wonderful year for us. It was the year we went festival. Starting with Rochester Sweeps in the Gordon Beer Festival...a gig beset with 3 powercuts, police arrests & men in big blue gloves and overalls working their way through the crowd to climb under the stage to fix/unblock something. But ever the professionals...we kept going and smiling. Next was The Jubilee weekend. Our Hope Festival gig was cancelled due to bad weather so we headed straight to Small World for our debut gig there and rewarded with dry weather, beautiful people & a typical Small World welcoming. We had a brief visit to a friend's festival Pridstock taking place just up the road. That was great fun. A little bit windy but that's where we met Stoney. A man wi ...

![]() Made my most Magical Disney Memory with Stefan as of yet tonite: Standing - cheek to cheek - at Tomorrowland Dessert and Fireworks Show watching Wishes projected off of Cinderella's Castle. (I cried!) Awesome day at the Magic Kingdom - conquered Stefan's fear of carousels (he rode the Prince's Carousel twice) and his fear of "why-works" (fireworks). Also, did the "classics" - Peter Pan, It's a Small World, Tomorrowland Speedway and the Tea Cups and enjoyed some of the New Fantasy Land, including Enchanted Tales with Belle and Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Our time here is quickly coming to an end! :( Tomorrow - Downtown Disney and lunch at T-Rex and capping our vacation off with dinner in Cinderella's Castle.

![]() You cannot walk down the parade route without being on at least one camera. These are hidden well but can be found. One obvious camera is in what looks like a light fixture on the top of a speaker pole next to alpine gardens. (in front of the temporary Christmas parade spot tower) The camera shoots down the dog leg towards Small World. These cameras are primarily used for spotting the parades, but Security has a feed too, so look out for big brother Mickey!

![]() And the Commentary about Vacation to Orlando: Which is better, Disneyland or Disney World? The workers at both parks don't know, because none we met had ever visited both. We've had the privilege of visiting both within a few weeks of each other, so are uniquely qualified to answer the question. Answer: they're both Disney. More specifically: * Parks themselves: Disneyland is like a scale model of Magic Kingdom. Or should I say, MK is a puffed up version of Disneyland. * It's a Small World: much better at Disneyland. Magic Kingdom's is a "why bother." * Ariel's Adventure: slightly better at Magic Kingdom than at California Adventure, entirely because MK's preshow was better. * Pirates of the Caribbean: slightly better at Disneyland. Anaheim's has an extra room MK's doesn't have. * Haunted House: slightly better at Magic Kingdom. They have more talking statues and creepier use of shadow play. * Space Mountain: different but equal at both places. Magic Kingdom's is about the speed. Disneyland's is ...

![]() This was written by my fellow travel pixie Tonya Weaver yesterday and it is truly beautiful. I just wanted to take a moment to share it with all of you. Here it is: I have a heavy heart after what happened in CT yesterday. The loss of so many innocent, sweet, children and adults. Which brings me to the reason I'm writing this topic today. I get asked so often, "Why do you like Disney so much?" To be honest, I never really gave it much of a thought, I just reply, "Because I do." And thought, if you have to ask me that, then you just don't get it. However, today I find I do have a thought to why I love Disney so much. It's because of the magic, the innocent, the make believe coming to life. It's the one time I can bring my children to a place where it transforms them to a happy place, a magical place, an innocent place. A place to take a journey through Peter's Pan Never Neverland, or take a spin on Alice's Tea Cups. Take a boat ride to It's A Small World, or fight the evil Zurg on Buzz Lightyear. Where w . ...

![]() As the year comes to a close I want to share some of the comments we have received from the amazing families that have traveld with us this year: Thank you for all of your help in planning our Disney vacation. We had a great time! The Lion King Suites were great and we really enjoyed staying there. Very comfortable and gave us various sleeping options. The dinners were excellent and we loved sampling them all. My oldest loved Hollywood Studios and the two big roller coasters (rocking roller coaster and Everest). My 5 year old daughter loved the princess lunch in Norway, Splash Mountain, and Its a Small World. My 7 year old loved Star Tours (which we all thought rivaled Sorin), Club Cool, and the Nemo show in Animal Kingdom. They also loved the talking trash can in Magic Kingdom, Tom Sawyers island, Indian Jones Stunt Show, getting their face painted, and the spitting camel at the Alladin ride. Overall it was a great trip!! *comments sent by the H.H. family Nov. 2012

![]() It has now been 2,099 days that our father remains a hostage. This evening, our mother is enjoying a night at Disney World with three of her daughters. As they enjoy a festive evening in the Magic Kingdom, we are reminded of earlier adventures with our father in the happiest place on earth. It was never the most glamorous rides that we truly enjoyed with our father. Instead, it was the memory of Dad in the boat during "It's a Small World," continuously singing along with the timeless jingle. It was his laughs that went along with every Muppet Vision 3D show. And it was definitely his snores during the Carousel of Progress, a slow moving show that often gave our father a chance to have a 20 minute nap (not coincidentally, he always named that to be his favorite ride). These moments, not Mickey Mouse or Goofy, are what made Disney World a cherished childhood destination and memory for each of us. For his 59th birthday, our mother wanted to surprise my father by coordinating a visit to Disney World, a plan t ...
