German Darts Masters Day One April 19 2014 BUNTING ENJOYS FINE EUROPEAN TOUR DEBUT AS BARNEY ENDURES TOUGH DAY IN BERLIN STEPHEN BUNTING made a winning debut on the PDC's European Tour with a 6-1 German Darts Masters victory over Ross Smith on Saturday - but five-time World Champion Raymond Van Barneveld crashed out of the £100,000 event in Berlin. Reigning Lakeside Champion Bunting had missed the year's first two European Tour events following his late January switch to the PDC circuit, but announced his arrival in style against emerging star Smith. Smith took out 117 as he shared the opening two legs of his first round clash with Bunting at Berlin's Maritim Hotel, but Bunting hit 180s in the next two legs as he took control at 3-1. Smith replied with a maximum of his own, only for Bunting to win his fourth leg courtesy of a 108 finish before hitting tops in the next two to complete the victory. The St Helens ace now takes on Justin Pipe in Sunday's second round, and admitted: "I've been really nervous ...

Van Gerwen STUNS TAYLOR WITH BETWAY Premier League Darts WHITEWASH Michael Van Gerwen kicked off the Betway Premier League Darts season with a stunning whitewash of Phil Taylor at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Thursday, as brilliant duo Raymond Van Barneveld and Adrian Lewis and debutants Dave Chisnall and Peter Wright opened with victories. Reigning Premier League Darts champion Van Gerwen left the six-time winner stunned as he averaged 109.59 in a flawless performance during a repeat of last year's final. Taylor, returning to competitive action for the first time since his second round exit at the World Championship exit in December, had only four darts at a double during the 13-minute contest as he suffered his heaviest-ever Premier League Darts defeat. Van Gerwen showed his intentions by breaking throw with a 13-darter in the game's opening leg, and finished 121 on the bull to double his lead before another 13-darter moved him three legs clear. Taylor hit three 140s in the fourth leg, but missed two ...

Looking forward to an exciting New Year's Day of darts...surprising finalist Peter "Snakebite" Wright and his amazing head paint job + his colorful hair and wardrobe has been very consistent throughout the tourney and he destroyed Simon Whitlock to get to the final. What changed Peter's game? A better practice routine and an additional two hours of practice per day. His opponent was expected to be here (against a certain 16x World Champion) Mighty Mike Van Gerwen has been the best player on the planet for the past fourteen months, save one 30 minute stretch during last years world final. It will be a grand final and much better than watching bowl games. Oh...my prediction is...
PDC Darts: Michael Van Gerwen sets up final with Peter Wright Michael Van Gerwen crushed Adrian Lewis 6-0 in the semi-finals of the PDC World Championship to set up a final against Peter Wright. Van Gerwen, 24, breezed past two-time champion Lewis, with the Englishman unable to hit doubles. The Dutchman, beaten by Phil Taylor in last year's final, will face Scotland's Wright after he beat Australian Simon Whitlock 6-2 in the other semi-final. The final at the Alexandra Palace will take place on New Year's Day. Van Gerwen, who is a prolifically quick thrower, raced into the lead as he took the first leg against the darts and then finished the set with a 12-darter. PDC World Championship winners 1994 Dennis Priestley 1995 Phil Taylor 1996 Phil Taylor 1997 Phil Taylor 1998 Phil Taylor 1999 Phil Taylor 2000 Phil Taylor 2001 Phil Taylor 2002 Phil Taylor 2003 John Part 2004 Phil Taylor 2005 Phil Taylor 2006 Phil Taylor 2007 Raymond Van Barneveld 2008 John Part 2009 Phil Taylor 2010 Phil Taylor 2011 Adrian Lewis ...
Unbelievable semi-final night at the Ally Pally Mighty Mike shows that his capable of winning the Jackpot after hammering Mr Jackpot himself and Simon Whitlock might be feeling a bit of poisionious venom after that Snakebite from Peter Wright! Semi Finals Results Peter Wright 6-2 Simon Whitlock MVG 6-0 Adrian Lewis What are peoples predictions for the final this is mine MVG 7-5 Peter Wright - David
Two lop-sided semi finals at the Worlds Darts Championships this morning has set up a final which will crown a first time winner for 2014. Peter "Snakebite" Wright downed Aussie Simon Whitlock 6-2, while Mighty Michael Van Gerwen smashed two time World Champ Adrian Lewis in a 6-0 down trou. MVG will de the favourite to take out the spoils tomorrow morning, but Wright has been playing solidly and could suprise. Tommo's pick is a win by 7-4 to MVG.
Semi Finals over and must say very surprised at the one sided nature of the games tonight. First up was Peter Wright v Simon Whitlock and an easy victory for Wright over a misfiring Whitlock 6-2. Wright averaged over 100 and was lethal on the double 16 while Whitlock never looked comfortable up on stage throughout the game and missed a lot of doubles tonight. The 2nd match on was been billed as the game of the tournament but this was even more one sided with Michael Van Gerwen destroying 2 times World Champion Adrian Lewis 6-0! Van Gerwen was on fire big time tonight averaging 105 against Lewis who played well himself averaging not far off the 100 mark but had a nightmare on the doubles missing far too many than usual and Van Gerwen stepped in every time to punish him. So it's Van Gerwen v Wright on New Year's Day at 8 00pm in the final. Van Gerwen will be hot favourite to win but Wright has been very impressive so i'm sure he'll put it up to Van Gerwen. However you'd have to fancy Van Gerwen to be the 2n ...

It's not like Simon Whitlock is playing badly, Peter Wright is just outplaying him all over the board
Peter Wright edges closer to the winning line, leads Simon Whitlock 4-1 now in sets in race to 6. semi final
Peter Wright and Simon Whitlock came through thrilling matches and will now face each other in the last four of the PDC World Darts Championship, with both their quarter-finals settled by final set tie-breaks. Wright trailed 2-0 in the early stages but produced some moments of real quality when he needed them to eventually edge out Wes Newton, who has now lost at the quarter-final stage in three of the last four years at the tournament and by the same agonising 5-4 scoreline. Whitlock looked on course for a much more comfortable success, but had to withstand a stirring fightback from Ian White before finally scraping through. Appearing in the last eight for the first time, Wright appeared a little nervy early on and Newton took full advantage, breaking in the very first leg. It would prove decisive as he wrapped up the set in the fourth leg after hitting double-three at the second time of asking. It was Wright who broke in the opening leg of the second set and he looked on course to level as he won the ne ...

What another great day of darts we had, with Gary Anderson almost knocking out MvG, Lewis got past King with a 4-1 victory. Also one of the other favourites James Wade beating Devon Petersen easily 4-0. We then went into the start of the 2nd session, with in form Peter Wright beating Wes Newton 5-4 and another close quarter-final with Simon 'the wizard' Whitlock beating Ian White by the same 5-4 in sets. Saturday December 28 Afternoon Session (12.30pm) Adrian Lewis 4-1 Mervyn King James Wade 4-0 Devon Petersen Michael Van Gerwen 4-3 Gary Anderson Evening Session (7pm) 2x Quarter-Finals Peter Wright 5-4 Wes Newton Ian White 4-5 Simon Whitlock
What great Saturday night darts from Ally Pally, first Peter Wright showing he is in it to win it, against Wes Newton, both playing superb, the match living up to it's quarter final billing, Wrights 5-4 win which included a last set of 8 legs had the crowd on their feet, a total of 178 scores of 100 and over including 18 maximus, superb. The second match between Simon Whitlock and Ian White looked to be all one way traffic, Whitlock going into a 3 -0 lead and then 4-1, but White had other thoughts reeling off 3 straight sets all 3-1, and the match was level at 4-4, Whitlock did not intend to let this one slip and ended a great challenge and championship by White, winning 4 legs to 2 and 5-4, 166 scores of 100 and over including 27 maximums, 15 to Whitlock, the first semi-final is now set, Wright V Whitlock, not to be missed.

Adrian Lewis produced a superb comeback from 3-0 down to win the Players Championship 9 final against Brendan Dolan 6-4 at the Citywest Hotel on Saturday. The world number three won his first PDC ProTour event for just over a year as he picked up the £10,000 title in Dublin - and importantly drew first blood against Dolan ahead of their partypoker.com World Grand Prix first round game on Tuesday night. Lewis, who has also won the European Championship this year, began the day by defeating Jelle Klaasen 6-1, before defeating Darren Webster, Kim Huybrechts and Richie Burnett to reach the quarter-finals. There, he came from 5-3 down to win 6-5 against Joe Cullen with a 106 average, and he averaged 103 in the semis against Justin Pipe as he booked his place in the decider. Dolan kicked off the final in stunning fashion, hitting a 180 and a 121 finish on the bull for a 12-darter in the opening leg, double 16 to move 2-0 up and hitting a 180 and double 16 to win the third with another break. REIGNING CHAMPION Phil Taylor opened the 2013 Championship League Darts season with a nine-dart finish and victory in Group One of the internet-streamed event, defeating Adrian Lewis 6-2 in Tuesday's final. The World Champion returned from a three-week break since his triumph in the Sydney Darts Masters in winning form to book his place in next month's Winners Group of the £200,000 event. Taylor topped the league table following the eight-man round-robin phase, edging out Adrian Lewis on Leg Difference after the pair both won five of their seven games. Taylor also hit a nine-dart finish - his third in this competition, 12th in a broadcasted event and 16th in a PDC tournament - in his league clash with Lewis, who missed double 18 for a nine-darter of his own before going on to win that showdown 6-5. However, it was Taylor who took the spoils when they met in the final with an unstoppable display, as he followed up a 109 average in his 6-2 semi-final win with a 102 mean score for his win by the same scorel ...

Final group games: Phil Taylor moved to the top of the Group One table with a narrow 6-5 win over Dave Chisnall in their final league game. Taylor took the opener on double 16, but Chisnall landed a 180 as he levelled and took the third before Taylor levelled. Chisnall then too three of the next four to lead 5-3, but Taylor edged the ninth and, after the pair traded 180s in the tenth, punished five missed match darts from Chisnall to post double four and force a decider. Chisnall hit a 180 in the 11th leg, with Taylor missing the bull for a 164 finish only for Chisnall to miss two darts at double 12 to finish 81, allowing the World Champion to *** the win on double eight. Michael Van Gerwen ended the league campaign with a 6-2 win over Wes Newton - but misses out on a semi-final spot despite the victory. Van Gerwen broke in the opening leg on double 14, only for Newton to reply with two 180s in a 12-darter to break back. Van Gerwen took out double 12 to win the third, again against the throw, before fi .. ...

Kim Huybrechts continued his challenge to win a maiden European Tour title with a thrilling 6-5 victory over Raymond Van Barneveld in the European Darts Open on Sunday afternoon, as Michael Van Gerwen and Simon Whitlock also picked up third round wins in Dusseldorf. Belgian ace Huybrechts had only dropped two legs in his wins over Steve Maish and Stuart Kellett earlier in the event, and was averaging 110 as he moved 3-1 up against van Barneveld. He retained that advantage as he took a 5-3 cushion before van Barneveld punished two missed match darts to hit back and force a deciding leg - only to miss one dart for the win himself as Huybrechts returned to land double ten and reach the quarter-finals. "It was a very close game and I did get a bit nervous at the end when I had a couple of match darts," admitted Huybrechts. "Raymond missed his chance and I took mine, so I'm very happy to be through." Huybrechts will now face Jamie Caven in Sunday evening's quarter-finals as the £100,000 tournament reaches its ...
