Chita Rivera was right behind me before the show started, waiting to make her entrance down the aisle. Today I'm seeing a matinee of ANNIE (lottery, front row center orchestra, $40!) and tonight I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Christopher Durang play VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE, starring Sigourney Weaver and David Hyde Pierce. Alien: Director's Cut on HBO. I saw Alien at the drive-in when I was 7. Amazing how well it holds up. It's easy to forget how old it is, especially since Sigourney Weaver & Yaphet Kotto have barely aged since then.

So I'm watching this weird movie called Vamps (it's kind of like Clueless with vampires), & it has one of the craziest casts I've ever seen... Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Wallace Shawn, Sigourney Weaver, Andy from Weeds, Matthew from Downton Abbey, the amazon from 3rd Rock from the Sun, and a lot more. I recognize pretty much every actor in it. I didn't think B-movies were supposed to have casts like this. I guess it counts as a B+ movie...

So yeah, I'm officially obsessed with the the Snow Queen. It all started with the Hallmark adaptation of the Hans Christen Andersen fairytale starring Bridget Fonda (it's 3 hrs long, was a formative part of my childhood, and explains why I always try and take my crushes ice-skating, regardless of whether they've ever ice-skated/ like ice-skating/ want to go ice-skating, etc). But now I need the 2006 BBC version, the extra-creepy Russian-language adaptation with a troll, the 1995 Martin Gates animated MUSICAL version with Hugh Laurie as a talking bird named Peeps, and another animated version narrated by Sigourney Weaver that comes in a combo pack with my actual favorite Andersen tale, The WILD SWANS. Finally saw Red Lights starring Cillian Murphy, Robert De Niro, and Sigourney Weaver. Very complex thriller, Murphy always brings me to near tears with ability to emote, connect, and portray so well. The movie stars Edward Norton. Brad Pitt. Helena Bonham carter. Meat loaf. Jamie Kennedy. And Jared Leto. At the time it was a box office failure and slammed by film critics even Roger every called it a pile of garbage. I never saw it cause of he critics but decided to watch it tv and ur blew my mind. I related to the Edward norton character. I lived the music. I live the twisted ending. I also live the film itself. One of my top twenty. I recommend it highly.
