Aside from being the heartthrob of many of the male baby boomers of the 50's and 60's, what many people do not know about Annette is that she was an incredibly giving, altruistic person. Before the onset of her disease, and even after-until the disease made it impossible-Annette spent thousands of hours on charitable causes for children. She gave tirelessly of her time. All through her life she acted with dignity, grace, modesty and style. Shelley Fabares (her closest friend since childhood) said it best: There are the rest of us, then there is Annette-she is just slightly above the rest of us. Some trivia for you: Paul Anka had a crush on her and wrote "Puppy Love" about her. RIP, Annette

I know Father's Day was yesterday, but I just came across something by chance, so I was compelled to share it as a tribute to all the Dad's who are no longer with us - too many l know lost their Dad's way too soon - even those of us who's Dad's have passed on after living fairly long lives are always, & will always, be missed & thought of all year long every year - many of them lived through the Great Depression as toddlers, young kids, pre-teens, & teenagers - many fought in WW II, as their Dad's fought in WW I, & some later in the Korea War & even served during the Vietnam War like my Dad - Many served in their late teens & early 20's, as many have all through our countries history - Anyway, I hope you can click on the video where young child star Paul Petersen sings a song about his TV Dad - My generation will remember the Donna Reed Show ( because most of the boys back then had a crush on the daughter, Mary, played by Shelley Fabares, besides having a crush on Annette too - LOL), hopefully some of the ...

She also went on and co-starred with Craig T. Nelson in "Coach". She is also best friends with Annette Funicello. I like her. I am so full of trivia tonight

Don't ask me why, but I've had the song "Johnny Angel" by Shelley Fabares in my head the last few days. Now, the fact that the song has been playing over and over in my head isn't something that has bothered me a whole lot, as I love the song, and Ms. Fabares has always been one of my favorite actresses. When "Johnny Angel" first started playing relentlessly in my head, I let it. After all, I'm just sitting here in front of my computer doing one thing or another, and NONE of it is all that exciting or important to begin with. Then the other night, I started paying close attention to the lyrics of the song. When it first came out back in February of 1962, it was intended to be a reflection of the heart's longing that one has for another. In this instance, Shelley longed for Johnny. Very sweet right? Undoubtedly. Now, fast forward fifty years. We've all seen "Fatal Attraction," and hear about stalking cases all the time. Well, in light of that, once one scrutinizes the lyrics to the song a bit, you can't he ...
Does Karen do a better version of this song compared with Shelley Fabares? I like both versions actually. Shelley's other song : Big Star -

Watching Clambake. Where Elvis Presley plays a ski instructor but is really a millionaire and falls in love with Shelley Fabares. Luv that movie
Been watching episodes of the old TV show, 'Daniel Boone', which ran from '64-'70. As usual, shows that seemed so good back then really just aren't all that good, but it's still fun. Fess Parker was perfect in the lead, and although a lot of it was filmed on a stage, the location shots are pretty amazing. Wonder where it was filmed? Also have seen guest stars (and co-stars) Ed Ames; Jimmy Dean; Rosie Grier; Floyd Patterson, Yaphet Kotto; Will Geer; Kurt Russell; Shelley Fabares; John Davidson; Burl Ives; Roger Miller; Jill Ireland; Simon Oakland; Alan Alda's 1/2 bro Antony (no 'h') Alda.
What is your favorite Rock Hudson movie (for those of you who are old enough to know who Rock Hudson is)? I have two...A Farewell to Arms and Never Say Goodbye (Shelley Fabares plays his daughter).
Enjoying sitting here at my desk looking out at a wonderful Friday morning...blue skies and 70's on the way. And, laughing...while tuned to Pandora's "Hard To Find 45's" (remember those good ol' 45's?) and hearing Marci Blaine singing "Bobby's Girl." If you know that tune it's so easy to sing along. Which I found myself doing...and also with the next one by Shelley Fabares singing (and me too) Johnny Angel. Imagine me...big, strong, a guy's guy, no stranger to the construction site, football field, or corporate America, "singing" Tammy by Debbie Reynolds. Hope everyone has a great singing day...everything is better cause you cannot sing with anything but a smile on your face...:-)
