Justice for Lainey is about a 4 year old Australian Shepherd named Lainey who was starved... abused and neglected in Camden, NY. The man charged with this crime is Ian West. On May 17th Lainey was seized by the Camden dog control officer and Oneida County Sheriffs She was brought to the Rome Veterinary clinic weighing 16 lbs. She was transported to the Humane Society of Rome on Saturday, and subsequently died of re-feeding syndrome on Monday May 20th, 2013 at 842 am. Ian West is under arrest, and currently out on bail. While we are awaiting the outcome of the trial, the Consolidated Animal Crimes Bill (A775a) was brought to our attention by animal advocates in Central NY. We have decided to take our 3000 people and fight for this bill. Every Assembly person in New York State will know her name when we are done. She will NOT be one of the FORGOTTEN DOGS. This dog did not have to suffer as long as she did. The laws are not clear enough for our law enforcement and district attorney's to be able to prosecute ...
From NYS Assemblyman Kieran Lalor: "I am happy to see that disgraced misogynist Vito Lopez resigned from the Assembly today. However, Sheldon Silver, who enabled and covered up Lopez’s sexual harassment of female staffers, remains perhaps the most powerful man in New York State. We will never reform Albany if we don’t stand up to Silver. Silver’s Assembly is where all meaningful reforms go to die. Call right now and respectfully ask your representatives in Albany: Do you continue to support Sheldon Silver as Speaker or will actively support removing Sheldon Silver as Speaker?"
From City & State this morning... Mixed martial arts supporters declared victory on the floor of the state Senate floor on Wednesday when the chamber overwhelmingly voted to legalize the popular but controversial sport. “It’s long past time that we officially sanction this sport in the state,” said state Sen. Joseph Griffo, who sponsored the bill. “For five years, I’ve been making the case that the numbers don’t lie; bringing MMA events to New York State will have a tremendously positive impact through the jobs that can be created and the spending that will stimulate the economy." Now the ultimate fighters will put an anaconda chokehold on opponents in the Assembly, which will consider the bill in the coming days. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver reluctantly supported the sport, acknowledging that it appears widely on television and that he would prefer the state’s arenas not lose revenue to New Jersey. "I think it’s eventually possible at some point there will probably be an approval in th ...
Senator Grisanti speaks on the floor to give his two cents on legalizing MMA in New York State - "It's a no brainer."
Kevin Cahill has made a career being a "politician." Being entrusted with advocating and fighting for the goals of the public should not be a "lifetime profession," as it has been for Kevin Cahill. As this country's first Commander in Chief, George Washington set the precedent of what a "civil servant" should do. Serve one's country for a period of time, not to exceed ten years. then move aside. After a certain amount of time, career politicians lose touch with We the People, and they no longer act in the best interest of their constituents. They start to worry only about getting re-elected, and padding their own bank accounts. Ulster County, and the residents of New York State have already contributed enough to the financial well being of Kevin Cahill. While in Sheldon Silver's back pocket, Cahill has been a "team leader" for a corrupt and dishonest politician. Case in point, look at how many people have taken a "free bus ticket" from New York City to show up at the door at the Department of Socia ...
