SCC lawsuit seeks to stop separate school systems Not all members of the Shelby County Commission are supporting the lawsuit against numerous parties with the goal of stopping the suburbs from creating their own municipal school system. Commissioner Terry Roland is adamantly against the Shelby County Commission’s “illegal” lawsuit to stop the municipalities from voting on municipal schools. The municipalities of Germantown, Collierville, Bartlett, Lakeland, Arlington and Millington are set to vote on whether to create their own school district on Aug. 2 The lawsuit is aimed to stop that action. The proposed lawsuit cites several federal and state laws as the basis for the suit.
