Dubai is set to get another major tourist attraction in the form of Mohammed Bin Rashid City, a new development including more than 100 hotels, golf courses and the world’s largest shopping mall. The new development was announced by the emirate’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, who said it would also include a Universal Studios entertainment centre, parkland and a hub for art and culture. The Dubai Mall is already the biggest in the world and will be superseded by the Mall of the World, which will reportedly be able to handle up to 80 million visitors a year. The development is earmarked for an area between Emirates Road, Al Khail Road and Sheikh Zayed Road. Dubai is also already home to the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa and an indoor ski resort and has reported strong tourist arrivals in the past year. Details on a timescale for the project and its projected cost have not yet been released.
The Dubai World Trade Center was the only tallest building in the whole Gulf region when it was constructed during 1979,the year of my birth. When I first went to Dubai in 1984 to join my Kindergarten classes,I still remember that lone structure which was the prime spot of public attraction in Dubai along with a few others like the Al Ghurair Center,Clock tower,Fish Roundabout,Hyatt Regency Hotel and Al Mulla plaza which was near my home building. Now it's the shortest building of Sheikh Zayed Road which is stretched long on both sides with so many wonderful tall buildings including Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.~ Muhamed Riyaz [
