My first 'real crush' bought The Prophet for me when we explored a book store in Toledo Ohio (we'd driven down to their art museum from Detroit). We would sit in his yard and read out loud... Gibran became my favorite and inspired a lot of poetry writing on my part. The 'crush' went on to marry somebody else...but my vision of him in his Sgt Pepper-like jacket with the brass buttons still makes me smile. He looked silly!
Out of curiosity i'm watching the Sgt pepper movie. Its horrible, its the beatles equivalent of the Star Wars Holiday special.
I watched the Beatles concert last night. Totally amazing. Paul and Ringo still have it. Including "You say its your Birthday", "Sgt Pepper", and "I Saw Her Standing There" all of which are very hard core rock and roll! Paul McCartney rocked hard, gave the screams, and hit the high notes...just as if we was still 20! Ringo leading the crowd in "Yellow Submarine", everyone feeling like a kid. The guy in front making submarine sounds was funny. And of course audience interaction with "Hey Jude" and "Help with my Friends". It really was watching the Beatles in concert. Today in 2014. Paul chose very hard core rock songs to perform, and he delivered!! Paul and Ringo both gave us exactly as they were on the albums, exactly as they would have done in 1967. Some of the tributes were really good as well, particularly Joe Walsh doing "While my Guitar Gently Weeps". Annie Lennox did an incredible job with "Fool on the Hill", as if that were HER song... Great musical experience all around.

Where to start ? My brother Marty Chesney or Denny Chesney who had the 45 of "the worst that could happen" that was my start with music from there it was stealing Denny's records or listening to his band practice in our basement to cooking in a bar at 14 and hearing the Jon,Paul,Kat band play Rocky Raccoon that I would enjoy the Beatles music to thinking I was a musician and playing heavy metal ,to the Beatles Love in Vegas that brought out a great feeling for their music ,to watching Sir Paul perform sgt Pepper during the 50th anniversary that I can truly say I love the Beatles and music. So thank you brothers for getting me started! Yeah I just watched the tribute.
Hey Jude, Yesterday & Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band are probably my favorite songs. Love them so!

Sgt Pepper.encore & DVR'ing the Beatles from Sunday night
Sgt Pepper, the album that changed modern music and recording methods.
Yellow Submarine!! Makes me so happy. Ringo and Paul return! Here comes Sgt Pepper!
I just told my ma she bought me my first Beatles album, Sgt Pepper, for Christmas when I was 9. She had no recollection. Oh, heroin. I still have it, and it's an Apple label, btw. Get back Loretta.
OK, I've seen several do this so I'll give er a shot. Discaimer on my list, most artists here should have had multiple entries for me but since I was limited I listed the ones that really first jumped out at me, Several of these I owned on LP, 8-track, cassette, and CD. RULES: in your status update, list 12 albums that have stayed with you over the years in some way. Don't take too long on this list - just a few minutes. These don't have to be great records, or critical darlings, just ones that mean something to you personally. 1. Buddy Rich - Mercy Mercy 2. The Beatles - Sgt Pepper 3. Jimi Hendrix - Are You Experienced 4. Cream - Disraeli Gears 5 . Wes Montgomery - A Day in the Life 6. Genesis - Lamb Lies Down on Broadway 7. Rolling Stones - Their Satanic Majesties Request 8. The Doors - The Doors 9. Neil Young - Harvest 10. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon 11. Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive 12. The Who - Tommy
Tonight at 8:30pm eastern standard time they will be rebroadcasting The Beatles Grammy Salute for those of you that missed it on Sunday. In the meantime, here is an alternate cover for Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
What's on my mind is: A) After uploading parts one and two of "Torpedo" and receiving an odd message from a user called "redgorilla" and an update from Windows 8.1, I now have a brand new laptop that needs urgent repairs. Part III of Torpedo will have to wait. B) Checkerboard Floors. C) After going into Yellow Submarine's "Ultra House" my next plan of action is to go back to the people in the Sgt Pepper crowd. Because there's something definitely there. Blog entries on that very crowd, and the "Legend of Why We Picked These People". The Beatles barely had much to do with picking that crowd. And Tom Mix interests me for some reason. Also H.G.Wells and H.C. Westermann. What got me to look at that crowd with a bit more scrutiny? The Beatles tendency to look RIGHT on their album covers over a 7 to 8 year period.
So I just listened through the Beatles entire catalog for the first time. I must say I'm pretty dumb for not realizing their amazingness a lot sooner. I guess 25 years-old is a time I am mature enough to listen to older music. Within those albums was the creation and sounds of rock as we know it today. The first alternative, first punk, first progressive, first electronic uses...It must have been amazing to pretty much create the first everything with a clean slate. Birthed from jazz, blues, and swing, the Beatles brought creative genius to the table. Upon my first listen, my top 5 rank of albums would be. 5. Abby Road/Please Please Me 4. Rubber Soul 3. Revolver 2. Sgt Pepper 1. White Album Off to listen to more Beatles...thoughts?
If you tire of watching our winter olympians fall on their faces I suggest CBS at 9 pm the rerun of the Grammy Beatles Tribute. If not for the Sgt Pepper medley with Paul and Ringo then at least for the Eurythmics tasty version of "Fool on th Hill". I wonder if Annie Lennox would marry me?
Sgt Pepper? Abbey Road? Let It Be? Solo careers? Nope. Say "Beatles" and this is the way I remember them.
It’s 9 pm. I’ve been working since early this morning and all I want to do is turn on the TV, turn off my brain and watch Olympics sports. I’d happily watch curling, or skiing or skating or skiing and shooting (biatholon?) – really any sport. But alas no. Once again NBC is showing FIGURE SKATING argh! The dude who is up now, is dressed like Sgt Pepper and we are told ‘he has the Olympics rings tattooed on his chest over his heart.’ Of course he does. Between the long program, the short program, men’s women, man & women and ice dancing, I think they could just do 24-7 figure skating. The only thing worse than this endless parade of figure skating is the feature they will inevitably run on a skater who is skating for his grandma who died tragically… - at the age of 95 -7 years ago. I think I’ll go read a book
Sgt Pepper was solid there in the short program.

Is the Russian dude wearing the same Sgt Pepper outfit from the other night?
Words cannot describe the American English Beatles Tribute show at the Watseka Theatre Sunday afternoon, February 9, 2014.   The best way to sum it up is from start to finish.  My morning started out with 4 inches of snow on the ground on top of the previous 7 which was on top of whatever else was there.  It's been a long cold snowy winter and I cannot wait until spring gets here.   My neighbor used her snow blower which got me access to the road that afternoon.  On my way to Watseka IL, I fell behind great grandpa who was driving about 45 MPH from Sheldon to Watseka.  About half way there, he decided to slow down to 22 MPH, pull somewhat to the right to allow me to pass him.  I was getting ready to but I had to pull back in because of on coming traffic.  He decided to speed back up to 45.  Both lanes were clear of snow except for a snowy strip down the middle of the road covering up the lines.  The shoulders were snow covered as well but there is no reason why this guy was driving as slow as h ...

R.I.P Shirley Temple Black passing away at the age of 85. Do you see her on the Beatles Sgt Peppers album cover? (Something I new I learned today- HR)
Morning! Siobhan checking in with Music this hour – a little bit different this morning – Queen’s Greatest Hits has become the first album to sell 6 million copies in the UK. One in three families now owns a copy of it – with nearest rival Abba Gold – followed by The Beatles – Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band – Adele’s 21 and Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory. So this hour hits from those best sellers – but what’s your all time favourite Queen song?
Okay, it is almost 24 hours (plus 50 years) after the Beatles appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. What is your favorite Beatles song and album? I will start with, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (song) and Abby Road (album).
wow, great time yesterday. Out to dinner with Lori Rogers Culver, troy and boyd, then home and Ringo and Paul on TV special. OMG, SGT Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band WAS & IS my all time favorite! (1967) and it was on there! I will listen to it while I exercise now? (maybe a good reason?--hope so!) Anyone else love Sgt Pepper's?
DIDJOO KNOW? Peter Frampton played Billy Shears in the ill-fated movie version of "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"...Apparently, all is forgiven!
SO, tying to all together: my interactions with the Beatles parallel universe over some 50 years (proably not a complete list) -- "In my life i've loved them all": * listening to Beatles VI from my sister (how'd she get the moeny for that?) * Saturday morning beatles cartoons * Seeing Hard Day's Night: favorite movie i have it on vhs, cd-rom, dvd, blu ray * Seeing Help! -- we stayed in theatre ( M DOyle?) for 3 shows -- my mom was outside after 1 -- whoops! can you say steaming? kids. "Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them..." * Freshman black light party at rick fogles -- coming of age -- Rubber Soul. awesome night. * Summer of 67 -- cousin's neighbor Penny (fantastic co incidence) Glass gives me Sgt Pepper as a gift -- june warm -- * Cousin Ken "turns me on " to revolver -- i was shocked at the differnece from Rubber Soul * White Album comes out -- Ed Lyons gives me his sister's -- Lynn -- and i listen to it all night . ...
Some Grammy info: Elvis only won 3 - all for gospel recordings in the 70s. Beatles won 2 when they were together - one for new artist and one for Sgt Pepper (album of the year - ya think?). Stones have 1 - lifetime achievement. Artists that never won a Grammy: Jimi Hendrix the Who Zeppelin (they got one 20 yrs after they broke up) Iggy Pop The Ramones Kinks Beach Boys etc etc etc One year, Jethro Tull won for BEST METAL ALBUM. *** ? Conversely, KANYE WEST has 21 grammys, U2 has 22, Jay-Z 19 , Dixie Chicks 13. The FIFTH DIMENSION has 6 - more than Elvis and the Beatles received during their lifetimes COMBINED. Think about that. The Beatles got 2 grammys when they were together. KANYE has 21. KANYE has been nominated 53 times. F the grammys.
So Sgt pepper took you by surprise.. those freaks were right when they say, you was dead.. the only thing you've done was "yesterday" A pretty face may last just a year or two, and pretty soon you'll se what you can do.. the sound you make is muzak to my ears..
I checked in at Sgt Pepper's Dueling Pianos on
