Manchester City vs Crystal Palace (Etihad Stadium) Team news Manchester City Manchester City have no frontline strikers nor their captain Vincent Kompany available for the visit of Crystal Palace in the Barclays Premier League. Forwards Sergio Aguero (knee), Stevan Jovetic (hamstring) and Edin Dzeko (calf) could all be out until the New Year while defender and skipper Kompany (hamstring) faces a similar lay-off. Teenage striker Jose Angel Pozo, who made his first start against Leicester last week, could get another chance or the likes of James Milner, Samir Nasri or David Silva might play in a more advanced role. Provisional squad: Hart, Caballero, Zabaleta, Sagna, Demichelis, Mangala, Boyata, Kolarov, Clichy, Milner, Navas, Silva, Nasri, Toure, Fernando, Fernandinho, Lampard, Pozo. Manchester City still without Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic for Boxing Day trip to West Brom
BREAKING News: Barclay Premier League champions Manchester City could go the top of the league when they face Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace. Palace travel to the Etihad Stadium knowing a win could put the Sky Blues top of the Barclays Premier League table. Current leaguer leaders Chelsea face a stern test when they travel to Stoke City on Monday night. This means they will have to sit back on Saturday and see if City slip up against Crystal Palace. BUT Manchester City are without top scorer Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stefan Jovetic leaving the Premier League champions having to rely on youngster José Ángel Pozo
Man City v Crystal Palace TEAM NEWS Manchester City have no fit recognised strikers, with Sergio Aguero (knee), Edin Dzeko (calf) and Stevan Jovetic (hamstring) all out. Captain Vincent Kompany is another absentee with a recurrence of a hamstring problem. Crystal Palace forward Marouane Chamakh is out with a similar injury. Joe Ledley is still nursing a hip injury but defender Adrian Mariappa is available following a recent knee complaint.
Edin Džeko: I'm there when Man City need me Edin Dzeko is planning to be the City goal hero in Rome. And the Bosnian Diamond, who has form for coming up with vital strikes, hopes he can help the Blues complete an unlikely Champions League escape, despite losing top scorer Sergio Aguero. The Blues HAVE to score, and better CSKA Moscow’s result at Bayern Munich, to grab second place in their group. But the loss of Aguero, out with knee ligament damage, was a severe blow, especially as Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic are both coming back from injury. Dzeko has been the City saviour many times, not least on the final day of the incredible 2012 title race, when he scored the “other” added time goal that set up Aguero’s immortal winner. He id it again last season, coming into the team when Aguero and Jovetic were injured, and Alvaro Negredo’s form had nosedived, and bagged crucial goals at Crystal Palace and Everton, and in a nervy home win over Aston Villa. Now City will look to him again, either as a star ...
Joe Hart due to sign new Manchester City contract Richard Jolly December 5, 2014 MANCHESTER -- Joe Hart is set to sign a new contract with Manchester City imminently. The goalkeeper, whose current deal expires in 2016, has been in talks with the Premier League champions for several months about an extension. And manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed he expects the 27-year-old to give the club a boost by putting pen to paper soon. "I always said it is important for this club to keep Joe with us," Pellegrini said in a news conference. "He is a very good goalkeeper and not only a very good goalkeeper, he is a very important player for the squad also, so maybe in the next days you will have good news." Hart will become the seventh City player to sign a contract extension this year after Aleksandar Kolarov, Samir Nasri, Vincent Kompany, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko. The former Birmingham loanee has made 275 appearances for City since his arrival from Shrewsbury in 2006. Pellegrini dropped Hart for a ...

Argentina v Bosnia (ko 11pm UK time)   You have to go back 24 years to find the last time Argentina progressed past the quarter-final stage but hopes are high they can at least emulate their 1990 performance, when they lost 1-0 to West Germany in the final. The draw has been kind, pitching them against Bosnia, Nigeria and Iran, and they should get their campaign off to a flyer. Their main strength lies in attack and even if Gonzalo Higuain remains sidelined for this match, the frightening skills of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are going to give a slightly suspect Bosnia back-line a nightmare time, while that pairing can rely on quality service from Real Madrid's Angel Di Maria. Argentina won last November's friendly meeting 2-0 and Alejandro Sabella's men have now clocked up five consecutive clean sheets, but if they have a weakness it's in defence. Bosnia's best form of defence is attack and the Balkan side, whose front line will be spearheaded by Edin Dzeko (10 goals in qualifying), could mark their ...
Ian Darke's World Cup one-liners :) :D Algeria: Too lightweight to repeat their shock win over West Germany in 1982 despite the threat of striker Islam Slimani. Argentina: Huge attacking threat with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, Gonzalo Higuain, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Angel Di Maria. Potential winners if defence is half-decent too. Australia: In transition and impossible to fancy unless it was a cricket tournament. Belgium: Have their own golden generation led by Eden Hazard, but their defending and a lack of big tournament experience might find them out. Bosnia-Herzegovina: Some of these players are the children of terror in the old Yugoslavia and they have enough talent plus the goals of Edin Dzeko to make an impression on debut. Brazil: Have to cope with impossibly huge expectations, but have the right blend of silk and steel to win a sixth World Cup with Neymar in the poster boy role. Cameroon: Very poor at the past two World Cups and probably heading for another early exit. Chile: Beat England at Wemble ...

Man City go top, Fulham and Cardiff relegated (AFP) Saturday 3 May 2014 Share Manchester City claimed top spot in the English Premier League and took a significant step towards the title by coming from behind to edge Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park. Ross Barkley's stunner put hosts Everton ahead in the 11th minute, but Sergio Aguero quickly equalised and a brace from Edin Dzeko secured victory for Manuel Pellegrini's side despite Romelu Lukaku reducing the deficit. City now lead previous leaders Liverpool on goal difference -- +59 to +50 -- and will therefore be practically assured of winning the title if they win their two remaining games. Chelsea and Liverpool each have opportunities to take over at the summit over the next two days, but if City beat Aston Villa on Wednesday and win at home to West Ham United next weekend, they are unlikely to be caught. Everton's defeat, meanwhile, means that Arsenal are guaranteed to finish at least as high as fourth, guaranteeing them a place in next season's UEFA Champ ...

Zabaleta: We're hungry for the title (PA) Monday 28 April 2014 Share Pablo Zabaleta has tipped Manchester City to swipe the English Premier League title in the season's final seconds, just as they did in 2012. Two added-time goals sent the title to the Etihad Stadium two years ago, as Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero salvaged a 3-2 home victory over Queens Park Rangers. It meant City claimed their first top flight title since 1968 on goal difference, and after Sunday's unflinching 2-0 win at Crystal Palace, Zabaleta believes Manuel Pellegrini's men are ready for a repeat of 2012. "We know that we've been in this situation two years ago and I think we had been talking about that last week," said Zabaleta, well aware City could now be crowned champions on goal-difference once again. "The most important thing we've learned from that experience was the team spirit to keep fighting until the end. "Whoever ends as the champions, it is because they will deserve it, and we are one of those teams who will fight for it ...

Manchester United 0-3 Manchester City: match report If there was ever such a moment that has summed up David Moyes tenure so far at Old Trafford the first forty seconds of tonight's match proved it. Manchester City rolled into the red side of Manchester hoping to curtail the apparent turn in fortunes for the Red Devils. After cruising to a 5-0 victory over Fulham, City picked an almost full strength side for the derby. Apart from the exceptional Sergio Aguero - who was replaced by the night's hero Edin Dzeko - City were at full throttle. Manchester United set their stall to pack the midfield in order to deal with the strength of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho. Marouane Fellaini, Tom Cleverley and Micheal Carrick were tasked with this job. Around Old Trafford the fear was evident around the 70,000 plus Red's fans. The 3 or 4 thousands Blues fan's sensed this and were looking for United blood. Home form was the problem all season and from the off the alarm bells were ringing. From centre City were on the offens ...

Man City PLAN TO SIGN CHELSEA STRIKER.. Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is set to offload Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko and summer signing Stevan Jovetic, who has suffered with injuries all season, could be sacrificed as the Chilean looks to conduct a summer shake-up. Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo will still act as Pellegrini's first choice strike-pairing but the Man City boss will look to supplement the pair with experienced Spaniard Torres. The 29 year old cost Chelsea £50m and has come nowhere near justifying the British transfer record outlay and is now something of a bit-part player under boss Jose Mourinho. Torres has started just 13 Premier League fixtures this term and his overall tally of 19 goals in 102 top tier appearances for the Blues is fairly woeful and one would imagine a Stamford Bridge exit is on the cards. However it seems more likely that the former Liverpool man would seek a move to a club that could offer him regular first team football and a move back to La Liga seems more li ...
Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko will be up against his Man City teammate Sergio Aguero at the World Cup. Who will win?
Of course, that was before Sergio Aguero went down with a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for the past month. Without their 26- goals-in-25-games Argentine hit man, City has been forced to depend on a woefully erratic strike trident of Alvaro Negredo, Edin Dzeko and Stefan "Knees of Glass" Jovetic. Of the three, the six-foot-six Dzeko, one of the heroes of City's 2011-12 title-winning side, has been the worst culprit, showing all the touch of a cement block in front of goal. Presented with a simple tap-in against Stoke, the Serb whiffed on it and in frustration launched a Cantona-worthy kung fu kick at the goalpost. The wonder of it is he didn't miss the woodwork.
Same with Manchester City I love Joe Hart and Sergio Aguero but I hate Edin Dzeko, yet they're my favorite team
Sergio Aguero ruled out of Barcelona clash with a calf injury. Manchester have a variety of hitmen in form of Edin Dzeko,Stefan Jovetic n the "beast" Alvaro Negredo!
Man City's £600m investment is paying off - bursting their bubble is Mourinho's biggest challenge since returning to Chelsea One of the most interesting figures in Manchester City's recent accounts showed that the club has spent more than £600million on incoming transfers since the Abu Dhabi takeover of 2008. Robinho, Emmanuel Adebayor, Carlos Tevez, Craig Bellamy, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Yaya Toure. It is an astonishing list of talent. Tonight at the Etihad Stadium is the reason City have invested so extravagantly. A Barclays Premier League game against Chelsea and Jose Mourinho. Second plays third and City have the chance to go top. Is it a shootout for the title? Not quite but it feels like it. City will be without Aguero, who is injured. But their back-up is stellar quality. Alvaro Negredo – The Beast – and Edin Dzeko will threaten Chelsea's defence. As the graphic above from WhoScored.Com shows, City's strikers are streets ahead of their Chelsea counterparts. Silva – who could choose any ...
Norwich defender Ryan Bennett is a doubt after straining a thigh muscle in training so new signing Joseph Yobo could make his Canaries debut. Wes Hoolahan returns to the squad after his on-off transfer saga, but Michael Turner and Jonny Howson remain out. Manchester City will be without the injured Sergio Aguero, Fernandinho, Samir Nasri and Javi Garcia. James Milner is fit after a groin injury, and Edin Dzeko and Joleon Lescott have overcome ankle problems. Manchester City's 7-0 thrashing of Norwich saw one of the most inept performances witnessed in the Premier League. With four home wins already behind them, that victory heralded the start of Manchester City's fabulous goal glut at home with 29 coming in the next seven matches. They would have beaten any team that day, but there was still no excusing Norwich's surrender. It smacked of a team that thought it was beaten before a ball was kicked - a team haunted by the two hammerings dished out by the same opponents in 2011-12. Following Monday's defeat b ...
Game preview: THIS GUY FROM Sky Sports JUST GOT ME SITTED UP! By Paul Merson, Sky Sport. Chelsea are capable of going anywhere and grinding out a 0-0 draw. Eg manu game. But surely with all the attacking flair Chelsea have got they can do better than play for a draw at city. So surely Mourinho won't go to the Etihad and defend. For a start they've got no Sergio Aguero and Man City are a completely different beast without him. I've been lucky to watch a lot of Man City this season and they are nowhere near the same team when he's not up front. The two strikers - Edin Dzeko and Alvaro Negredo - will really suit John Terry and Gary Cahill. They will play up against them, rather than dropping off into the hole like Aguero does. They are top- drawer players, but it will be much easier for the defenders because they won't be turning and running at them. I really like Nemanja Matic in midfield and I don't understand why he didn't play against West Ham over John Obi Mikel, who slows the game down. I think Matic . ...

TEAM NEWS & LATE Fitness check : Manchester City v Chelsea Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini confirmed Sergio Aguero is out for a month, so Edin Dzeko will be expected to partner the returning Alvaro Negredo. The rest of the side picks itself, with a midfield of Jesus Navas, Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and David Silva and a defence featuring Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany and Martin Demichelis. The only question mark is who gets the nod between Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov, with Kolarov favourite after Clichy started at White Hart Lane on Wednesday. Chelsea will be without Fernando Torres, so Samuel Eto'o will start at the Etihad. It seems unlikely Jose Mourinho will do any rotating, so expect to see the strongest line-up available. This could mean a start for Matic in midfield alongside Ramires, with Oscar, Eden Hazard and Willian supporting Eto'o. West Brom v Liverpool West Brom striker Nicolas Anelka has been ruled out with a knee injury, and will not feature against one of his former sides. ...
After demolishing Spurs 5-1 on Wednesday and with the chance to win four trophies at the end of the 2013/14 season, Manchester City are chasing the improbable target of scoring two centuries of goals in all competitions. The five goals they scored on Wednesday made it 115 goals scored already in 37 games, an average of 3.1 goals per game. And starting next Monday, when they face Chelsea at the Etihad, City have at least 27 matches to play till the end of the season – that is saying they get to the finals of all their cup competitions plus the 15 games they have to play in the Premiership. Their 115-goal haul have been provided by a dozen players – from their two top strikers; Sergio Aguero, who has scored 26 goals to Alvaro Negredo on 23. Substitute striker, Edin Dzeko, has scored 17, while midfield juggernaut, Yaya Toure has weighed in with 15. And what makes the Citizens a fearsome goal-scoring side is that all departments of their play have provided goals. Left-back Aleksandar Kolarov has scored fo ...
Sergio Aguero of Manchester City celebrates scoring his team's fourth goal with team-mate Edin Dzeko (L) during the Budweiser FA Cup Third Round Replay match between Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers at the Etihad Stadium on January 15, 2014 in Manchester, England.
"The players that score the goals are players that I bought - Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Samir Nasri."
Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero have already reached 20 goals. Edin Dzeko needs five more and City will become the first top-flight side to have three players to hit 20 in the same season in all competitions since Liverpool with Kenny Dalglish, Terry Mcdermott and Ian Rush in 1981-82.

Man City to Launch Astonishing £40m Plus Player Swap offer for Liverpool Striker Etihad Stadium to register big money offer for Anfield ace. Man City are set to launch an astonishing bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez according to Sports Direct News. The Etihad Stadium side will offer £40m plus £20m rated Bosnian forward Edin Dzeko in return for the 26 year old Anfield hot-shot. It’s an offer that is sure to receive short shrift from Liverpool who will have no intention of selling Suarez and should they feel forced into considering offers for the former Ajax man they will surely only think about selling to non-Premier League sides. Suarez has been in fabulous form this season, netting 14 goals in ten Premier League fixtures and the chance to line-up the Liverpool man alongside Sergio Aguero is no doubt incredibly tempting for boss Manuel Pellegrini it seems like it may prove a bridge too far for the big spending side. Man City spent big over the summer and brought in both Alvaro Negredo and Stevan ...
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been pitted against Argentina, Iran, and Bosnia & Herzegovina in the World Cup draw. This is one Group the Eagles should fancy their chances. ANY ARSENAL FAN WILL NEVER LOVE THIS STATEMENT.FROM SPECIAL ONE We'll easily catch Arsenal, says Mourinho Blue manager confident of topping Gunners Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes it will be easy for his side to overtake Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title this season, and he insists that it is Manchester City that are their real rivals. The Blues are currently second in the league, four points behind The Gunners, but two points ahead of City, who are in third, however, Mourinho has revealed that it's the team below Chelsea that are more worrying than the team above them. Speaking ahead of his side's clash with Sunderland, The former-Real Madrid boss admitted that Manuel Pellegrini has a unique and gifted side which will certainly be close to the top come May time. He explained: ‘City don’t have old players, they don’t have varying players. You see all of them, players with big maturity, players with big experience. 'Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Alvaro Negredo, even Stevan Jovetic, ...
Inter Milan are chasing Manchester City pair Aleksandar Kolarov and Edin Dzeko. The People says Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio checked out striker Dzeko and left-back Kolarov in City’s 4-2 Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday. Bosnia international Dzeko scored their final goal. But the 27-year-old has started just four Premier League games this season, and is unhappy at being behind Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo in the pecking order. Serbia star Kolarov, 28, has a similarly uncertain role in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad. Under contract until 2015, he would relish a return to Italy – having spent three seasons with Lazio before joining City in 2010.

Messi Wants Barcelona to Sign Aguero, Express Says: Roundup By Christopher Elser - Nov 15, 2013 4:50 AM GMT-0600 The following is a roundup of soccer stories from U.K. newspapers, with clickable Internet links. Aguero Interest Barcelona’s Lionel Messi told his club that it should sign Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, the Daily Express said. While Barcelona’s interest in signing Messi’s fellow Argentine dimmed when it brought in Neymar from Brazil before this season, Messi’s intervention may renew interest in the former Atletico Madrid striker, the newspaper said. City doesn’t want to sell Aguero, and Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino may be more interested in shoring up his defensive options, the newspaper said. Dzeko Departure? Arsenal may move for Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, who is looking to increase his playing time after backing up City’s attackers, the Daily Mirror said. The Gunners are looking to ease the pressure on Olivier Giroud, who has been the north London’s club main ...
In Europe, City duo Clichy and Nasri have a two-legged play-off against Ukraine to negotiate if they are to appear in next summer's tournament. Les Bleus travel to Ukraine for the first leg on Friday before hosting the Eastern European side in Paris next Tuesday. Costel's side are looking to end a 16-year absence from the World Cup finals with a play-off win over Greece. Elsewhere, there are a plethora of international friendlies involving City players, with the most eye-catching taking place at the St Louis Cardinals Stadium in Missouri on Tuesday night. Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta's Argentina take on Edin Dzeko's Bosnia-Herzegovina at the same venue City beat Chelsea in on the post-season tour of USA in May. On three previous occasions the hosts had won this fixture by one goal, and that proved to be the case again thanks to Bardsley's 21st-minute strike. Latching onto Wes Brown's clever through ball, the full-back shrugged off James Milner inside of the area before calmly slotting past the onrushing Costel Pantilimon, much to the delight of the home crowd. City came close to equalising via the in-form Sergio Aguero when he headed wide from Aleksandr Kolarov's first-time cross, but Manuel Pellegrini's side endured a majorly frustrating first-half with clear-cut chances limited. Jesus Navas was introduced for the second-half and the winger almost made an immediate impact when his goal-bound effort was blocked on the line by Ki Sun-Yeung. Aguero and substitute Edin Dzeko both tested Vito Mannone as the visitors piled on the pressure, but Sunderland held on to secure Gus Poyet's third win since taking charge. For Pellegrini's men, it was a fourth defeat in six league outings away from the Etihad Stadium this sum ...
My heart said ,Man City's striker, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko is better than Liverpool's striker, Luis Suarez and Daniel Studdrige.
By Tom Maston It may not help heal the wounds of Stamford Bridge six days ago, but the way in which Manchester City dismantled Norwich was a delight to watch. Samir Nasri, Sergio Aguero and David Silva were all at their best while for Costel Pantilimon is was as easy a league debut as you would want. Questions must be asked of Chris Hughton, however, whose job at Carrow Road is coming under increasing pressure. No matter what the opposition, conceding 11 times in two trips to Manchester within five days is inexcusable. Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko added goals five, six and seven after the break as the match lived up to its goal-rich reputation, with 25 having been scored in the previous four top-flight meetings between the two sides. In addition to the change in goalkeeper, Negredo replaced Javi Garcia in the only other alteration to the City side that started a 2-1 defeat at Chelsea last Sunday. Chris Hughton also made a double change to his Norwich side from last weekend’s goalless draw wi ...
City boss Manuel Pellegrini opted to hand the goalkeeping duties to Costel Pantilimon following Joe Hart's error against Chelsea last weekend, but the Romanian had had little to do at the Etihad Stadium as a Bradley Johnson own goal and strikes from David Silva, Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Negredo put the hosts four goals to the good at half-time. Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure and Edin Dzeko completed the rout after the break to increase the pressure on Canaries boss Chris Hughton. Manchester United also enjoyed a comfortable win as they secured a 3-1 triumph over Fulham at Craven Cottage which did little to boost Martin Jol's long-term job prospects. United led 3-0 inside 23 minutes as Antonio Valencia, Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney all got on the scoresheet for the defending Premier League champions, before Alex Kacaniklic got a consolation for the hosts. Asmir Begovic became the fifth goalkeeper to score in the Premier League with a remarkable long-range goal, but it was not enough to give Stoke victory ...
PLAYER REACTION - Newcastle 0-2 Manchester City Manchester City goalscorer Edin Dzeko on his partnership with Alvaro Negredo: "We are good together, but we have Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic too and any of the four of us can play. It's still three more games to the final but we want to get there, that's definitely the aim."
Plenty of interesting things to look out for in the City line-up I’ll bring you at around 3pm… With Vincent Kompany ruled out, who will start at centre back? Take your pick of two from Matija Nastasic, Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia or maybe even a debut for Martin Demichelis? Up front, you’d assume Sergio Aguero will start given his incredible form but will he be joined by Stevan Jovetic, Edin Dzeko or Alvaro Negredo? That’s not all either – Micah or Pablo, Gael or Aleks, Jesus, Samir or James? So many options. Who would make your XI? Let me know via the
2011: United 1 City 6 Even the most optimistic of City fans couldn’t have been expecting this scoreline when the Blues visited Old Trafford in 2011. On a glorious afternoon, Roberto Mancini’s men inflicted a humiliating defeat on Manchester United as they ran rampant on the Reds’ own turf. Mario Balotelli was quick off the mark with the opening goal, and after Jonny Evans was dismissed the Blues couldn’t stop scoring. A second for Balotelli, a Sergio Aguero strike, plus a late goal for David Silva and a brace for Edin Dzeko ensured that neither set of fans would forget this one in a hurry…

Samir Nasri netted twice as Manchester City beat Chelsea 5-3 in the second match of the English clubs' end-of-season trip to the United States. Gareth Barry, James Milner and Edin Dzeko were also on the scoresheet as the Citizens followed up their victory in St Louis earlier in the week - when they fought back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 - with another thrilling triumph on Saturday evening in New York. The Light Blues were ahead inside five minutes. Oscar gave the ball away to Sergio Aguero whose strike was blocked by keeper Hilario but only as far as Barry who tapped the ball home from close range. City got their second on 29 when James Milner fed Nasri who lobbed Hilario before the match at the Yankees Stadium yielded six more goals after the break. Ramires pulled a goal back for the Dark Blues at the start of the second half after latching on to a long ball from David Luiz. Shortly afterwards Ramires came close to grabbing a second for Chelsea when his deflected effort was cleared off the line by Milner w ...
Ok guys and gals here is the 3rd and final part of my season review. hope you enjoy. LFC 24/7 News 2012/13 Season Review Part 3: FEBRUARY... The month would start with a trip to the Emirates and reigning Premier League champions Man City. We'd shown earlier in the season that we were more than a match for them. After going 1-0 down to an Edin Dzeko strike in the 23rd minute we turned the game on its head. A stunning left foot strike from the edge of the box from new boy Sturridge against the club where he started his career. As you would expect the celebration was minimal. 1-1 at half time. We came out 2nd half and took control of the game and in the 73rd minute Captain Liverpool himself, Steven Gerrard, Hit a stunning 30 yard strike past a flailing Joe Hart. But that lead lasted only 6 minutes, as a long ball into the right corner caused a mix up between Martin Skrtel and an out rushing Pepe Reina. And Sergio Aguero fried a shot right footed, from the most ridiculous of angles and it dropped in just insi ...
Manchester City prevail in seven-goal thriller. Manchester City have fought back from three goals down to defeat Chelsea 4-3 in their friendly in St Louis. A brace by Edin Dzeko helped City get back on track before Micah Richards struck deep in injury time to seal a thrilling win in front of 46,000 fans. City made the stronger start but it was Chelsea who took the lead against the run of play through Demba Ba. The Senegal striker headed home Juan Mata's teasing cross gave Chelsea the lead in the 18th minute. Sergio Aguero nearly got his team back on level terms just five minutes later, but his curling effort came back off the post. The Blues were then handed the chance to double their advantage on the stroke of half time when Karim Rekik brought down Mata inside the area, forcing the referee to point to the spot. Cesar Azpilicueta stepped up to take it, confidently dispatching the kick beyond a despairing Joe Hart. The teams were slow to get going after the restart, but the game reignited in the 55th minu ...
Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko cheered managerless Manchester City in the wake of Roberto Mancini's sacking as the Argentina and Bosnia strikers scored in a 2-0 win over relegated Reading.

Backpass, February 19, Part 1 Edin Dzeko is willing to take a pay cut to seal a £20million summer move to Borussia Dortmund. Dzeko, 26, is thought to earn around £120,000 a week at Manchester City. But the striker has become increasingly frustrated at not getting a consistent run in the first team. And the German champs believe the Bosnian will jump at the chance to join Dortmund where he will be the main man. The 26-year-old joined City in a £27million switch from Wolfsburg two years ago. He has 16 goals in all competitions this season but he is facing fierce competition from Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero for a starting place. Dortmund want Dzeko as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandowski who is expected to leave in the summer to join Bayern Munich. The German giants would prefer to sell Lewandowski to Manchester United but the Polish international seems to favour a move to Bayern. Deliberation: If Dzeko eventually quits City... who will gain more? Player or club?
The Reds made a positive start to the contest, but were underdone midway through the opening period when Edin Dzeko ghosted into the box to convert James Milner's low centre from close range. But Liverpool levelled up before the half-hour mark when Daniel Sturridge fired into the bottom corner from distance. The visitors began to dominate and they got the goal their display merited when Steven Gerrard netted with a volley from distance after pouncing on Gael Clichy's clearance. However, City secured a point when Sergio Aguero beat Pepe Reina to a long ball into the box and netted from a tight angle to ensure the points were shared. Following the spirited midweek draw at Arsenal, Brendan Rodgers elected to make just one change to his line up with the fit-again Jose Enrique replacing Andre Wisdom in defence. The Reds had impressed right from the off at the Emirates, but within 60 seconds of the game getting underway at the Etihad, Pepe Reina was required to tip a stinging David Silva drive over the bar. LONDON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - European soccer's big-name strikers enjoyed contrasting fortunes as Mario Balotelli enjoyed a scoring debut for AC Milan to share the spotlight with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who had weekends to forget. Prolific Messi scored again for La Liga leaders Barcelona, although his side were held by Valencia, but Ronaldo put through his own net as Real Madrid's slim La Liga title hopes faded further with defeat at Granada. ENGLAND Manchester United stretched their lead at the top of the Premier League to nine points after a 1-0 win at Fulham and Manchester City's 2-2 home draw with Liverpool. Wayne Rooney's superb controlled finish after 79 minutes at Craven Cottage was enough for battling United to seal a vital win over Fulham. City had Sergio Aguero to thank for their point after the Argentine scored a magical goal from an acute angle. Edin Dzeko had given the hosts the lead, only for Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard to hit back in style for the Reds. Third-placed Chelsea l ...
MATCH PREVIEW Incredibly, the sale of Mario Balotelli means the reigning champions have virtually balanced their books in transfer dealings this season. But has Roberto Mancini got it right in depending on the current squad to retain the title? Balotelli's departure will leave a more harmonious dressing room. It'll also leave them short of striking cover at a time when goals have been hard to come by. Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Carlos Tevez have just seven between them in the last nine league and cup games. LAWRO'S PREDICTION Image of Mark Lawrenson Mark Lawrenson Football Analyst "This will be a tight game, but there have to be worries over City's defence with Vincent Kompany out injured. If Matija Nastasic is not fit, then Javi Garcia will have to drop into defence again and, if they show any sort of weakness then Luis Suarez will take them apart. "I have to take my hat off to Suarez because he has dropped a little bit deeper since Daniel Sturridge arrived and taken a different role but he has been e ...
"And despite being abused at almost every ground he goes to, Torres is still Chelsea's leading goal scorer in all competitions this season having amassed 15 strikes, one ahead of Juan Mata. In fact, Torres has scored the same as Jermain Defoe, and more than Olivier Giroud, Nikica Jelavic, Marouane Fellaini, Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Papiss Cisse, Steven Fletcher, and Wayne Rooney, but still seems to be maligned for his form and lack of threat in front of goal." - Gregory Wakeman
GOAL - Stoke 0-1 Manchester City (Pablo Zabaleta 85 mins) It's that man Pablo Zabaleta who does it again for Manchester City, to seemingly put his side into the hat for the fifth round. La Liga giants lead race for Manchester City star La Liga duo Malaga and Sevilla are interested Manchester City striker John Guidetti, according to reports from Sky Sports. The Swedish international has been linked with a loan move to a number of Premier League clubs recently, with first-team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium limited. ... But, a switch to Spain now appears to be most likely, with Malaga and Sevilla both interested in the 20-year-old. City are believed to be willing to allow Guidetti to leave on a temporary basis in a bid to gain match experience. With the likes of Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli, Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko all competing for a starting spot, the youngster has been pushed aside by manager Roberto Mancini. The player himself is keen on a stint in Spain, although it is thought that a number of Italian sides as well as Newcastle and Sunderland are monitoring the situation. His representatives are believed to be in talks with City to discuss the best option for his developmen ...
0 - have never lost a Premier League game in which Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez or Edin Dzeko have scored. Charms.
MERSE PREDICTS.Sunday: Arsenal v Man City 3.30pm, Sun, Sky Sports 1 HD & Sky 3D I don't see Man City winning this game at all. The worst way out for Arsenal is a draw in my opinion. I say that because there's no Sergio Aguero and no Yaya Toure. Despite all the millions of pounds Man City have spent over the years and the squad they've got, those two players will be sorely, sorely missed. I watched Aguero the other week against Stoke City, who have probably got the best defence in the league. Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth are two of the best centre-halves around and I've never seen them get a complete and utter run-around like they did that day. I can't see Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko giving the Arsenal defenders a run-around like that. And without Yaya Toure they won't have the strength in midfield and that means we could see a game of "passy passy" in that area - and there's nobody better at "passy passy" than Arsenal. Santi Cazorla, Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere are great at that. Admittedly, Arsenal ...

James Murphy, Tony Raybould, Greig Bertram, Danny Goodier and Chris Banks get points from David Silva's assist. Michael Grierson and Chris Brown get a clean sheet from Vincent Kompany. 11 managers lose points from Robert Huth's booking.

EPL SATURDAY ROUND UP ARSENAL beat Newcastle 7v 3,Walcott make a case Plus Manchester clubs battle to victory Hard-fought wins for Manchester United and Manchester City maintained the status quo at the top of the Premier League table on Saturday, as Tottenham rose to third thanks to a come-from-behind win against Sunderland. Elsewhere, Aston Villa dropped to within one place of the relegation zone after a third successive heavy defeat, this time at the hands of fellow strugglers Wigan, while 10-man Stoke City grabbed a late draw with Southampton, Fulham succumbed to Swansea and Reading picked up a hard-fought win against West Ham. A classy finish from Sergio Aguero settled Manchester City's nerves against Norwich City, as Edin Dzeko scored twice and was instrumental in a third to help City secure a 4-3 win despite seeing Samir Nasri sent off towards the end of the first half at Carrow Road. Man City Outwits Norwich Premier League, Carrow Road - Norwich City 3 (Pilkington 15, Martin 63, 75) Manchester City 4 (Dzeko 2, 5, Aguero 50, Bunn 67 o.g.) Edin Dzeko scored twice and Samir Nasri was sent off as Manchester City clung on for a thrilling 4-3 victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road. Dzeko found the back of the net twice within the opening five minutes as the visitors raced out of the blocks before Anthony Pilkington halved the deficit for Norwich. Nasri was then shown a straight red a minute before half-time, while Sergio Aguero made it 3-1 to the champions after the break. Russell Martin pulled a goal back for Norwich but a Mark Bunn own-goal saw Manchester City restore their two-goal advantage once again, only for Martin to score his second to setup a nervy finish. Dzeko went into the game with just one goal from five Premier League starts this season but the Bosnian needed only 80 seconds to get off the mark. Aguero’s chipped cross found David Silva, who in turn knocked the ball into ...
Norwich City 3-4 Manchester City: Dzeko double enough for champions in end-of-year *** Roberto Mancini's side pick up the three points despite making the match a lot tougher than it needed to be, with Samir Nasri receiving a straight red card Manchester City have ended 2012 with three points after narrowly beating Norwich City 4-3 at Carrow Road in a fantastically entertaining encounter. City raced into a two-goal lead thanks to two Edin Dzeko goals, but Anthony Pilkington pulled one back before Sergio Aguero got the Blues’ third before half-time. Samir Nasri received a straight red card and Russell Martin got Norwich’s second, and later got a second of his own after Mark Bunn put the ball into his own goal and City got the three points. Despite losing to Chelsea last time out, Norwich fielded a very similar team as their only change saw the much-maligned Steve Morison started in place of Grant Holt, who picked up a late injury. Roberto Mancini, however, was understandably annoyed with his side’ ...

DAVID PLATT tips goal-shy Manchester City to reignite their title defence with a scoring romp. City trail neighbours United by seven points after netting just 34 times — whereas they led the table at the midway point last term when bagging 53 goals. And boss Roberto Mancini labelled his strikeforce as "maybe too soft" after dire finishing led to a 1-0 Boxing Day loss at Sunderland. But assistant Platt feels Mancini was criticising City's lack of a clinical touch — rather than a weakness in his players. Platt said: “I don't think he means soft — sometimes it can be lost in translation. "In the last few games we have produced enough efforts on goal but we should be scoring more. “These things have a habit of balancing out over the season." Platt admits front four Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli will be "disappointed" with their goal return so far. He added: "Goalscorers go through barren spells — we’re just unfortunate they’re all having one at the same time. "But ...
68. Standing ovation for Sergio Aguero who comes off for Edin Dzeko. It could get bad to worse for Villa here!
City announced their latest results on Friday evening, confirming losses had been reduced from £197.5million to £97.9million and turnover increased to £231.1million. It confirms the Blues' emergence as one of Europe's elite clubs, despite obvious setbacks this term, including another early elimination from the Champions League and Sunday's defeat to Manchester United, which leave City six points adrift in the Premier League title race. However, even chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak acknowledged the most significant part of the year came in those two minutes of injury-time on May 13, when Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored the goals against QPR that won the championship and ended the City curse where anything that can go wrong probably will. "2011-12 will always be remembered as a particularly significant year in the history of the club, a season when Manchester City demonstrated an ability to win in even the most challenging of circumstances," said Al Mubarak. "We experienced the Champions League, won the ...

LEGENDS Ian Wright and Alan Shearer banged in 738 goals between them during their amazing careers. So who better than the former England strike partners to look at Sunday’s great Manchester shootout between the Premier League’s top forwards? CHARLIE WYETT and NEIL CUSTIS asked the questions in this special SunSport head-to-head... Q A MOMENT of striking brilliance could decide the Manchester derby. Who would you start up front for City and United — and why? WRIGHT: With City I would say Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez. Aguero is a top, top player and can score against anyone. I love Edin Dzeko but Tevez never stops running and always gets the fans going. Playing Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie together is an absolute no-brainer for United. They have the link already and you cannot put a price on that type of understanding. SHEARER: For United there is no question RVP is the main man, with Rooney in behind him. Van Persie is a goal machine right now, a player at the top of his form. Aguero is still ...

Mario Balotelli Remains Fully Committed To Manchester City, According To His Agent 13 November, 2012 Sports Speculation regarding the Italy international's future has intensified on the back of his omission from City's matchday squad for Sunday's 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. photo Balotelli was forced to watch on from the stands as fellow forwards Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko found the target for the reigning Premier League champions. It is now being suggested that the 22-year-old is ready to cut short his time in England and head home, with former employers Inter Milan said to be keen on reacquiring his services. Balotelli is, however, contracted to City until June 2015 and his representative claims his client will see out that deal and force his way back into Roberto Mancini's plans. "There's no Italy and no plans to go there," said Mino Raiola. "He'll work until the end of his contract. He doesn't want to leave. "There's no player happy with not playing in a game, but he accepts it. "It's all pa ...
Mancini rages at referee ESPN staff November 6, 2012 Roberto Mancini raged at referee Peter Rasmussen after Manchester City had a goal ruled out for offside and were denied a late penalty as their Champions League dream all but died with a 2-2 home draw against Ajax. - Jolly: City cornered - Tyler: Group of Death tightens hold - Curtis: 'Flinterdun' as City lights go out Sergio Aguero had a goal chalked off when the creator Aleksandr Kolarov was ruled offside when he seemed to be level from Edin Dzeko's pass, and Mario Balotelli appeared to have his shirt tugged by Ricardo Van Rhijn late on. City started the game terribly. Siem de Jong was left unchecked at two first- half corners, the Ajax captain able to head home a brace, forcing Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero to dig deep and score the goals needed to keep City within five points of the qualification spots in Group D. Ominously, City now need to beat both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, who also drew 2-2 on Tuesday. Mancini, though, pulled no punches ...

Manchester City have midfielder Jack Rodwell available again for tonight's Champions League Group D clash with Borussia Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium. Rodwell is fit for selection after missing two games with a groin problem but full-backs Maicon (heel) and Micah Richards (ankle) are not yet ready to return. Edin Dzeko came off the bench to score the winner against Fulham and is pushing to dislodge Carlos Tevez or Sergio Aguero against German opposition he knows well from his time at Wolfsburg. Centre-back Joleon Lescott may have to settle for a place among the substitutes again, having been dropped for Matija Nastasic in recent weeks. Jurgen Klopp has no notable absentees and should be able to field a full-strength side in Manchester. Robert Lewandowski was rested for Dortmund's 5-0 win against Borussia Monchengladbach at the weekend but will return to the side, with Julian Schieber making way. City lost their opening group match away to Real Madrid last month but will be hopeful of getting off the mark ...

Manchester City lead Chelsea in £47m race for Falcao A summer move failed to materialise as the club were unable to offload Edin Dzeko despite interest from AC Milan and Bayern Munich, while Carlos Tevez's return to form saw him return to favour under Roberto Mancini. Chelsea are also huge admirers of Falcao, who has scored 42 goals in 53 appearances for Atletico Madrid including a stunning hat-trick against the Blues in his side's Uefa Supercup victory in Monaco last Friday. But City are confident of landing their man after a 12-month long pursuit with Atletico's recent financial struggles ensuring they must listen to big-money offers for their star player. Falcao has a €60m (£47m) release clause in his Atletico Madrid contract and City believe their strong relationship with the Spanish club will help to facilitate a deal. City eased Atletico's financial difficulties last year by paying £38m to sign Sergio Aguero, from under the noses of their great rivals Real Madrid, with most of the transfer fee ...

hmmm. Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero from City. Johnny of course, maybe that guy from Step Up 4...
Manchester City once failed with an accidental £30 million bid for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, it has been revealed. City have shown themselves to be willing to splash the cash in order to land big names ever since being taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, having spent over £30 million on each of Robinho and Sergio Aguero, and over £25 million on Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor, Mario Balotelli, David Silva and Yaya Toure. Upon arriving at the club in 2008, City’s owners wanted to make a landmark signing and eventually splashed out on Robinho from Real Madrid, having just missed out on Kaka, Fernando Torres and Dimitar Berbatov as well. Now former Chief Executive Garry Cook, who famously accused Kaka of ‘bottling’ his move to the Etihad Stadium, has revealed that in the confusion of their attempts to land a big name in the summer of 2008, contact was made with Barcelona over the prospect of landing Messi.
The four first-team strikers currently at the club – Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko – will all stay.

Dear Andy Lovell , I am writing to you to express my sincere apologies in losing to you on Fifa 2012 this evening. Even though both teams were Manchester City and therefore equally matched in terms of ability, it is fair to say you produced a style of football not commonly seen in this day and age. On your part, the game was free flowing, often with innovative and pressing football. Sergio Aguero though was without a doubt fantastic for you this evening. His movement both on and off the ball, his link up play with Edin Dzeko was sublime, the two strikers often combining to produce the goals that gave you the 6-1 overall victory. In all honesty, perhaps 6-1 was quite a flattering scoreline, as the opposition clearly did not turn up today. Congratulations once more on your victory and may you continue to prosper as King of Fifa in the Lovell household. I am however pleased to add that although this loss has disappointed me greatly, I am happy that I am OFFICIALLY better at Fifa than Stephen Lovell, after ...
Sergio Aguero's winner against QPR in the fourth minute of added-on time - just over a minute after Edin Dzeko scored an equaliser - secured City's first league crown in 44 years on the final day of the season. Sir Alex, frustrated by the way his team conceded an eight-point lead in the final weeks of the season, could now face a probe from the authorities after he suggested Rangers “quit” once they knew they had avoided relegation. "Queens Park Rangers did very well until they found out they were safe, and I think, as Mark Hughes has said, they quit,” said Ferguson in the club's Inside United magazine. “That was disappointing. It's hard to digest because we played so well at Sunderland. "Obviously we knew that QPR were in front, we all thought we had done it, then the Sunderland fans all started cheering and we knew they'd scored again. I said to Mike Phelan a couple of times that if QPR were leading and City equalised, they'd get a big impetus from that, and that's what happened. "Everyone expec ...

Manchester City scored twice in stoppage-time to clinch their first league title since 1968 with a 3-2 win over QPR, who avoided relegation regardless. A quite incredible season ended in the most dramatic way possible, with City snatching victory from the jaws of what seemed certain to become the most disastrous defeat imaginable. Second-half goals from Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie, either side of a ridiculous Joey Barton red card, seemed to have turned the entire season on its head. But with the game entering five minutes of stoppage time, City produced a finish equally as memorable as that of Manchester United inthe 1999 Champions League final. That United should be denied just made the joy so much sweeter, as first Edin Dzeko nodded the Blues level before Sergio Aguero collected Mario Balotelli's return pass and drove home the goal that crowned City champions.
Some people were on the pitch. They thought it was all over. But they didn't include Edin Dzeko. They didn't include Sergio Aguero. They didn't include the Manchester City side who staged the latest, greatest feat of escapology a title-winning team has ever performed. After 38 games and 3420 minutes of their season, they were 2-1 down to QPR, three points behind Manchester United and set to be labelled chokers. Cue Mancini Time, the Italian equivalent of Fergie Time. It was when City, those experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of triumph, went from despair to delight in a nod of Dzeko's head and a strike of Aguero's boot. And, as the United players waiting to celebrate on the Stadium of Light pitch discovered, it was all over. As United were deposed, Arsenal were displaced. Until now, George Graham's class of 1989 were the champions of late drama. Not now. Aguero provided the Michael Thomas moment, but two minutes later. It was the 92nd minute when the Arsenal midfielder delivered the decisive second ...
Merson's reaction to Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero's injury time goals.
City bombarded the QPR penalty area and in stoppage time Edin Dzeko headed home to give their fans hope, before Sergio Aguero scored a stunning individual winner in a finale that no script writer would have dared pen. It was a goal that ensured City won the title on goal difference in the Premier League's 20th season, arguably the most dramatic finish in its history given it was decided in the last three minutes
What a spectacular finish to the football season.. I cannot remember one with such a smashing finish. I must declare that if I was a Man City fan I doubt whether I would of still been in the Etihad Stadium when Sergio Aguero finished QPR off. I would probabley of been walking out of the car park when Edin Dzeko got the second Man City goal.
Sergio Aguero? - £38 million. Edin Dzeko? - £27 million. Mario Balotelli? - £20 million. Watching United fans getting stung in the last minute when they thought they had the title won? - Priceless.
Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero were the men who scored the winning goals and turned despair into delirium. Make no mistake with injury time already under way United fans were opening the champagne and sharpening their insults.
How a dramatic final day unfolded in the title race 20 mins: Wayne Rooney sends Man Utd two points clear at the top by giving his side a 1-0 lead at Sunderland. 39 mins: Silence turns to bedlam at Etihad Stadium as Pablo Zabaleta puts Man City ahead against QPR back on top on goal difference. 48 mins: Advantage United. Djibril Cisse stuns City with an equaliser and it is all change at the top again. Sir Alex Ferguson's side are two points clear with 42 minutes of normal time to go in the season. 66 mins: City are capitulating. After Joey Barton is sent off for QPR, Jamie Mackie puts the Londoners ahead against all the odds. United, now three points clear with 24 minutes of normal time remaining, dare to dream. 90 + 2 mins: Lifeline for City. Edin Dzeko levels for City but United are still leading and remain two points clear with just moments left. 90 + 5 mins: Man Utd win at Sunderland but City are still playing. And City despair turns to delirium as Sergio Aguero scores a last-gasp winner. It is utter he ...
Pablo Zabaleta: £6.5 million Edin Dzeko: £27 million Sergio Aguero: £38 million That look on Manchester United player's/fan's faces at the end of their game with Sunderland when they thought they were going to win the league but then heard at the last minute that Man City had scored in Fergie time: PRICELESS
Sergio Aguero 38 million, Edin Dzeko 27million. Mario Balotelli 20 million. watching Man u fans in the last min, priceless.
Just finished watching Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero twist the dagger stuck in Man United's heart. Phenomenal stuff.

Manchester City Crowned EPL after 44 yrs .. wit juz 4 min of 2nd half stoppage time remaining, City came back from the dead as Edin Dzeko n Sergio Aguero scored dead goals n created history fa city .. CONGRATULATIONS City ...!!!
I'm just watching replays of Sergio Aguero's winner - I didn't give Mario Balotelli any credit in the madness of the moment, but he did brilliantly in the build-up to toe the ball through a crowded box and in to Aguero's path. He and Edin Dzeko had a major impact coming off the bench. That's why it pays to have such heavy artillery on the bench.

This season, Sergio Aguero, Carlos Tevez & Edin Dzeko have all scored Premier League hat-tricks for Man City.
Mario Balotelli is the most efficient goal scorer in the League. Sergio Aguero & Edin Dzeko also make the top 6.
And, without Sergio Aguero, Roberto Mancini does not exactly have a lot to choose from up front. Edin Dzeko has gone off the boil, Carlos Tevez is half-fit and as for Mario Balotelli? "I don't trust Mario. No-one trusts Mario,"
81. City escape the Liverpool onslaught as Edin Dzeko comes on for Sergio Aguero. Come on Edin, nick us a goal!
