FOOTBALL NEWS. Arsenal: Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud provide injury boosts Arsenal's injury problems are easing as winger Theo Walcott has returned to training, while striker Olivier Giroud is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery. England international Walcott, 25, ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in Arsenal's 2-0 FA Cup win against Tottenham in January. Giroud, 28, has not played since August after suffering a broken leg in the 2-2 Premier League draw against Everton. "Giroud is recovering very well," manager Arsene Wenger told beIN Sports. The French forward was originally expected to be out until 2015, but the Gunners' boss is hopeful he will be back in action earlier than that. "The operation went perfectly. I believe he is ahead of schedule in terms of rehabilitation," added Wenger. German forward Serge Gnabry also returned to training on Monday, having been out since March because of a knee problem. Whisper it, but Arsenal are on course for their best transfer window ever. Arsenal head into The Emirates Cup in a peculiar position. Things seem kind of on track. This is alien to most Arsenal fans. It’s almost uncomfortable. Arsene Wenger, *** Law and Ivan Gazidis have looked at the squad, they’ve identified the weaknesses and we’ve bulked out where we need to. Ultimately, regardless of the players and whether they could have purchased better, we’re in a far better position than we were last year. A lot of Arsenal fans forget that one of the biggest issues we faced last year was fatigue. Fatigue led to injuries and flat performances. Flat performances led to our title campaign derailing in spectacular fashion. The reason Arsene didn’t rotate is because he didn’t have a squad he trusted. Players like Serge Gnabry should have featured heavily after Theo Walcott picked up an injury, but poor attitude saw him relegated to the stands for games. Our keeper dipped in form, but the contract scenari ...

Arsenal have collected only two points in their last four games in the Premier League and Arsene Wenger has lamented about the lack of confidence in his squad as a key factor. Their recent form at Wembley is not very impressive either, as they have lost 2-1 to Chelsea in the 2009 FA Cup semi-finals and suffered a similar defeat to Birmingham City in the 2011 League Cup final. Wenger continues to endure selection limitations through injuries as Jack Wilshere (foot), Abou Diaby (knee), Laurent Koscielny (calf), Serge Gnabry (knee), Mesut Ozil (hamstring) and Theo Walcott (knee) are all out. Kieran Gibbs (ankle), Tomas Rosicky (thigh) and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will have to pass a late fitness test if they are to be involved, but all three trained today. Mathieu Flamini picked up his tenth yellow card of the season when Arsenal lost 3-0 to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend, so Aaron Ramsey will probably get his first start this year by partnering Mikel Arteta in central midfield. Ramsey was crucial to A ...
:: Gnabry - Big characters have lifted team :: Serge Gnabry has revealed that the most experienced members of the Arsenal squad have helped lift spirits ahead of the Manchester City game. “The most important thing is to pick yourself up straight away, because you can’t go into a game against Manchester City with a bad attitude, fear or anything like that,” he told Arsenal Player. “You face up to the next game and try to do your best to win it. “We have a lot of big characters like Per, Mikel, Tommy the captain - there are a lot of people talking in the team. “They’re helping us out. They have a lot of experience and have been playing at the top level for years so they know what it takes. They are helping the team get their heads up to face the next match. “We just have to play our game, use our strengths which is a good passing game. Anything can happen. Serge Gnabry has described Mesut Ozil as a "strong person" and says he has learned a lot from his compatriot since he signed for the Club. "He's a brilliant player. He showed it when he was at Real Madrid and he showed it when he was the World Cup. "He's a big part of our team, he helps the team create something up front and he's just a very special player. He's a strong person. Obviously you are disappointed when you miss a penalty in such an important game but that's football. "Sometimes you lose, sometimes you win but we're a team and we win together. It's not just down to Mesut that we lost that game. We stick together and work towards the next game - I hope we can turn it around in the second game. "I've picked up a lot of things from him. He's a brilliant offensive player. Why Santiago Cazorla is Arsenal’s answer to firepower frailty.. With an armoury of gifted midfielders, but a clear lack of top quality strikers, should Arsenalconsider adopting the midfield loaded, false nine formation? So far Arsenal have managed to stay top of the league, with just Olivier Giroudand Niklas Bendtner as the clubs only senior, recognised centre forwards. When the games get tougher and more frequent in February, Arsenal may need to try out the false nine formation. Following the festive period, Arsenal verged on failing to have a single striker match-fit and, should he still be short on strikers and keen to offer Giroud a break at any point, may wish to opt for such tactic. But could Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Serge Gnabry or Jack Wilshere play in the false nine position? This formation has been used by the likes of the Spanish National Team and Barcelona, with Cesc Fabregas often occupying the key position. The player must have a good understanding ...
Arsenal's German contingent shine against Coventry By James McNicholas | January 24, 2014 9:35:05 PM PST Arsenal are through to the FA Cup fifth round after a relatively routine 4-0 win over Coventry City. Given their sobering experiences last season, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal were never likely to take Coventry lightly. In 2012-13, the Gunners were knocked out of both domestic cup competitions by lower league opposition. Consequently, Wenger chose not to take too many risks with his starting lineup. In the absence of the injured Thomas Vermaelen, the Frenchman named his first-choice centre-back pairing of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker. When that duo play, Arsenal invariably have a solid foundation. • Delaney: Three things: Arsenal-Coventry Mertesacker captained the team, which seemed fitting considering the lineup's distinctly German feel. Mertesacker was joined in the starting lineup by three compatriots: Serge Gnabry, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski. Another -- teenage prodigy Gideon Zelalem --b ...

★★★ Theo Walcott CAN make the World Cup; Roberto Baggio recovered in 77 days from similar injury ★★★ “Theo will have surgery in London in the near future and is expected to be out for at least six months, therefore missing the remainder of the season and the World Cup in Brazil in the summer.” – Arsenal statement on Theo Walcott’s injury. Arsenal losing Theo Walcott is of course a major blow. The Gunners have the opportunity to claim silverware this season and are firmly in the race for the Premier League title. Walcott was coming into great form, had arguably his best performance in his favoured striker role on Saturday and Arsene Wenger does not have many players of his type in the Arsenal squad. But, Wenger can go and splash the cash this January (Dimitar Berbatov perhaps?) or promote from within with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Serge Gnabry looking like more than useful replacements. For Roy Hodgson, the chances of recovering from Walcott’s injury are much more problematic. Walco ...

Wenger: 'We have good togetherness in this squad' Dear Arsenal supporter, We were very pleased with the FA Cup third-round win against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, and I felt we controlled both sides of the game; the defensive and the offensive. We had good discipline and were tight at the back. Our game is based on movement and quick, sharp passing and we always looked dangerous. We saw a very good performance from Serge Gnabry. He is only 18 years old, so still a very young boy, but he has quality, he is bright and he has a good football brain. I'm a strong believer in him, but it is important not to make superstars from one game. The top level is about consistency and he now has to show he can turn up with this type of performance in every game. But I believe the ingredients for success are there with him. I also liked what Theo Walcott did up front because he added purpose and commitment, and had more decisiveness to his game and more fighting attitude. He looks like he improves in the central posit ...
Arsenal 2 Tottenham 0: Post-Match Thoughts and Player Ratings Arsene Wenger had promised to treat the game like a Premier League fixture and the lineup he fielded verified that he was true to his words. Like Arsenal, Tim Sherwood and his Tottenham side had some own injury problems to contend with but the gaffer opted for the same squad that was victorious against Manchester United at Old Trafford with the only exception being Nabil Benteleb coming in Etienne Capoue. Emmanuel Adebayor was a player in a rich vein of goalscoring form and he was singled out as one of the players to watch out for. Unfortunately, he failed to live up to that billing in the course of the game. It was a tightly contested first half with Christian Eriksen missing a clear cut chance early on and there were some close shaves from Roberto Soldado but Santi Cazorla blasted in the first goal after some good work from Serge Gnabry. An error from Danny Rose allowed Tomas Rosicky to score what proved to be the match clincher midway into t ...
London (AFP) - Premier League leaders Arsenal overcame fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the FA Cup third round on Saturday, while Aston Villa were dumped out by third-tier Sheffield United. Tottenham had won at Manchester United in their previous outing and new manager Tim Sherwood made only one change to his starting XI, but his side fell behind in the 31st minute at the Emirates Stadium. German teenager Serge Gnabry was the architect, picking the ball up wide on the Arsenal right and driving infield before finding Santi Cazorla, who speared a left-foot shot past Hugo Lloris. Spurs were unable to react and Tomas Rosicky sealed victory in the 62nd minute, robbing Danny Rose on halfway and bearing down on goal before adroitly lifting the ball over the advancing Lloris. The game ended on a sour note for Arsenal when forward Theo Walcott had to be stretchered off after falling awkwardly, but he showed that he remained in high spirits by goading the visiting fans as he was carried away. "The game was pl ...

Plenty of German will be spoken on the pitch in the head-to-head with Bayern as the Gunners’ team includes Per Mertesacker, Mesut Özil and Lukas Podolski. Apart from the three Germany regulars, talented duo Serge Gnabry and Thomas Eisfeld are also members of the squad, meaning Arsenal have the most German players at a top club outside of the Bundesliga - www.fcb.de/en
It's fair to say a tough week finally caught up with Arsenal as they went down 6-3 to Manchester City. After a gruelling midweek trip to Napoli, and a tough game against Everton, there were tired legs in that Arsenal side, and the consequences of that against a City side that is devastating in attack were obvious. The Gunners' performance was littered with individual mistakes the home side ruthlessly punished. When Laurent Koscielny let Sergio Aguero run off the back of him from a corner, the City striker lashed home a fantastic volley to open the scoring. A great finish, but poor defending. - Leaders stunned by free-scoring City City's third came when Mathieu Flamini failed to control a Mesut Ozil pass; the fifth came when Jack Wilshere gave the ball away in midfield; the late penalty came from a wayward Serge Gnabry pass that gave James Milner the chance to take a dive; and you could ask questions of the defending for the other two goals. All in all, it was pretty shambolic display from the team that, . ...
90+7' That's it, nothing more will happen today. The game is over. 90+6' Yaya Toure (Manchester City) superbly scores from a penalty kick! He buries the ball into the bottom left corner! 90+5' Wojciech Szczęsny (Arsenal) is shown a yellow card for a late challenge. And here comes a moment that can change the score of the game! The referee makes himself clear when he points to the penalty spot. Yaya Toure (Manchester City) grabs the ball, and he's probably thinking how he will take it. 90+5' The ball hits the back of the net! Per Mertesacker (Arsenal) is the one who put it inside the back of the net! 90+2' The main referee and his assistant both point at the corner flag. Arsenal will have an opportunity to endanger the opposition's goal. Serge Gnabry (Arsenal) produces an unsuccessful corner kick. 90+2' Serge Gnabry (Arsenal) swings in a corner kick, but one of the defenders leaps into the air and clears the ball away with a header. 90+2' Theo Walcott (Arsenal) got the opportunity to endanger the opponen ...

Arsenal Under-21s beat Aston Villa 4-2 on Monday night in a game that was notable for a fine performance by Serge Gnabry and a goal for social media expert Emmanuel Frimpong.
Emmanuel Frimpong Arsenal youngster Emmanuel Frimpong has seemingly forgotten about a goal he struck back in 2010. Arsenal beat Aston Villa’s under-21s last night 4-2, blowing them away courtesy of an inspired first half display led by Serge Gnabry.… [ 269 more words. ]
Arsenal U-21 - Aston Villa U-21 4:2 (4:0) Young lads started off pretty well and led 4:0 after the first half. Serge Gnabry scored the first goal after 16 minutes of the game. Jon Toral has continued in his scoring record with other two goals since he came back after a long-term injury. The last Arsenal goal was scored by Emmanuel Frimpong who scored his first ever goal for Arsenal. Kris Olsson didn´t get much game time and played for only three minutes left of the match.
Arsenal U21 4-0 Villa U21 - HT - A first half to forget for Gordon Cowans' team. It could have been a different scenario had two long-range efforts from Graham Burke found their way into the bottom corner, but Gunners keeper Matt Macey made brilliant saves on both occasions. Arsenal, though, carved open the Villa defence with Jon Toral scoring twice and Serge Gnabry and Emmanuel Frimpong also getting on the scoresheet.
Arsenal U21 4-0 Villa U21 - GOAL - 45 mins: This time Emmanuel Frimpong got himself on the scoresheet, rising tall to head home Serge Gnabry's corner.
Arsenal duo Mesut Özil and Per Mertesacker have been advised to stay in London by German national team doctors ahead of the Die Mannschaft’s forthcoming friendlies against England and Italy. Mertesacker wasn’t involved in Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford after falling ill over the weekend, while Özil passed himself fit to play despite being one of the four players affected by a virus. The German Football Association (DFB) confirmed on Monday that neither player will be present in Munich ahead of the two games, instead they have been told to ‘initially’ recover from the contagious illness at home in London. Several Arsenal players are already affected by the virus including Mikel Arteta and Serge Gnabry. It’s expected that all four will be fine for the Premier League clash against Southampton in a fortnight’s time.
Germany National manager Joachim Low has told Germany Newspaoper 'Bild' that_ Ozil & his Gunners teammate Per Mertesacker had been advised to stay in London and not to fly after falling ill. Ozil failed to make much of an impact in the 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford drawing plenty of of Criricism for how quiet he was at Old Trafford. Thomas Rosciky, Serge Gnabry an Mikel Arteta were also affected though the Latter two still Played well.
Mesut Özil, Mikel Arteta, Per Mertesacker, Tomas Rosicky and Serge Gnabry are all affected by a sickness bug at the moment.
Boss makes no changes Arsène Wenger has named the same team that started the 2-0 win over Liverpool on Saturday for the Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal's midfield remains the same after Jack Wilshere and Mathieu Flamini were not fit enough to travel. Serge Gnabry returned to the squad and is named among the substitutes alongside young defender Isaac Hayden. Team in Full: Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Arteta, Rosicky, Ramsey, Ozil, Cazorla, Giroud Subs: Fabianski, Monreal, Vermaelen, Jenkinson, Hayden, Gnabry, Bendtner
AH NEWS-Sensation believes Arsenal chance will come Arsenal whizkid Serge Gnabry says he knows he’ll get his chance under manager Arsene Wenger. Gnabry penned a new deal with us last month after making his first team breakthrough. He told Kicker: “I know the manager is supportive of young players and I know I will get chances at this club. “Mr. Wenger is a calm type of manager. He talks to me and then he tries to motivate me to do better. “I also know I have it in my own hands and eventually need to take my chance.”
Arsenal: Mathieu Flamini could be back available having missed out in midweek with a groin injury, while youngster Serge Gnabry is also a doubt having picked up a knock at Palace. Walcott is nearing a return to fitness but will continue to miss out with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Podolski also long term absentees. Olivier Giroud will return to lead the line after Arsene Wenger made wholesale changes in the cup defeat to Chelsea. Liverpool: Philippe Coutinho could be in with a chance of making the line-up at Arsenal having missed the last month with a shoulder injury. Jose Enrique will continue to miss out, however, with Aly Cissokho set to keep his place at left wing-back. Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez will hope to continue to build on a partnership that is bringing the Reds great results in front of goal at present. Did You Know? Arsenal have won seven of their last eight matches in the Premier League. Liverpool are undefeated in 16 of their last 17 matches in the Premier League. In the last six games bet ...
Arsenal get MORE bad injury news from Gnabry and Flamini I really cannot remember Arsenal, or any team for that matter, having so many players on the sidelines through injury right from the start of the season. We have had Vermaelen, Monreal, Sagna, Arteta, Wilshire, Rosicky, Walcott, Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanogo, Ryo, Zelalem and Diaby out for various reasons already in this campaign. And just when it seemed to be getting a little bit better for Arsene Wenger, with the return of Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla, the manager has been hit by more problems. Le Prof has revealed on Arsenal.com that the Gunners are going to have to face the in form Liverpool at the Emirates tomorrow without Mathieu Flamini and Serge Gnabry. And these two have become really important to Wenger’s plans this season, so it could cause a big problem. The French midfielder has added the steel that many fans have been demanding for a long time, while Gnabry has been a revelation and has saved Arsenal from missing the Ox and ...
Football News; Midfielder Mathieu Flamini misses the Emirates Stadium clash due to a groin injury. Mikel Arteta is suspended following his sending-off in Saturday's win at Crystal Palace, but Jack Wilshere (ankle) is fit. Serge Gnabry will be involved, if he can shake off an ankle knock ,along with Isaac Hayden and Ryo Miyaichi, but Theo Walcott (abdominal), Yaya Sanogo (back), Lukas Podolski (hamstring), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Abou Diaby (both knee) are all still out. Mourinho will give his fringe players an opportunity in Chelsea's second match in three days. The players who featured in Sunday's Premier League defeat of Manchester City will be rested, with a similar side selected to the one which won the previous round of the League Cup at Swindon. World Cup winner Juan Mata, Brazil defender David Luiz, Senegal striker Demba Ba, Ghana midfielder Michael Essien and Belgium forward Kevin De Bruyne are among those set for an opportunity, along with Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. Birmingham's Chr ...
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Thomas Eisfeld, Emmanuel Frimpong, Gedion Zelalem and Mathieu Flamini will all miss Tuesday’s Capital One Cup clash with Chelsea and cast doubt over Serge Gnabry’s participation. Speaking to Arsenal Player on Monday the boss gave a run down on the fitness of his squad: “Zelalem is not yet available. He had a knee problem. He is back in full training but he has not played yet. He will play 45 minutes with the under-18 team later this week. “Serge Gnabry has a problem, he got a kick on the ankle. He will be assessed tomorrow. After that we will decide who plays and who doesn’t play. I will decide [on Tuesday]. Eisfeld has a back problem. “Frimpong is still short of competition. Isaac Hayden will be involved, Ryo and Gnabry if he’s fit.”
Arsenal trio in Golden Boy nominations Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Serge Gnabry and Yaya Sanogo are among the 40 nominations for the 2013 Golden Boy award. The Arsenal trio are up against the likes of Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Julian Draxler - with the winner expected to be announced in December. Recent winners of the Golden Boy award include Isco, Mario Goetze, Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi.
Arsenal v Chelsea, 19:45 While one of these sides is clearly having a better start in the league table the gap between rampant Arsenal and their visitors is not as wide as some suggest, and when you factor in the greater squad depth at Chelsea this game is almost 50/50 despite being at home for the league leaders. Arsenal have a tough run of games coming up and may be forced to rotate more than the manager would like, given the importance of momentum, and even a win by 1 goal, at 4/1 with VictorChandler would be a very good result. Arsenal will be withou Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, and Serge Gnabry faces a fitness test on an ankle problem. Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will also rotate his squad with the likes of Juan Mata, Kevin De Bruyne, Michael Essien, Demba Ba available for the Portuguese to call upon. Birmingham v Stoke, 19:45 A drab start to the league season has been rather offset by Birmingham’s form in this competition, where they managed to beat Swansea in the last round and would appear t ...

Crystal Palace 0-2 Arsenal October 26, 2013 2:09 PM Wenger praises 'mature' Arsenal By Mandeep Sanghera BBC Sport Arsenal beat managerless Crystal Palace to stay top of the Premier League, despite having Mikel Arteta sent off. Arteta scored a penalty after Adlene Guedioura's foul on Serge Gnabry before his 65th minute dismissal for a professional foul on Marouane Chamakh. Palace came close to a leveller but Joel Ward's shot hit the crossbar and Wojciech Szczesny brilliantly saved a Mile Jedinak volley. Olivier Giroud secured Arsenal's win when he headed in late on. The Gunners, on the back of their first defeat in 12 games after losing to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, were not at their best but secured a seventh league win in nine outings this season. Palace were playing their first game since the midweek departure of Ian Holloway as manager and, even though they produced a hard-working performance, they suffered an eighth defeat in nine Premier League games. Caretaker manager Keith Millen wanted a reacti ...
Arsenal wrote: GOAL TO ARSENAL: 1-0. Mikel Arteta gives Arsenal the lead off a penalty kick after Serge Gnabry was brought down in the box.
Top-of-the-table Arsenal claimed a hard-fought 2-0 win over managerless Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, as Mikel Arteta slotted home a penalty before being sent-off. Olivier Giroud made sure of the points as he headed home Aaron Ramsey's cross with just a couple of minutes left. Palace caretaker boss Keith Millen, who had taken over following Ian Holloway's departure on Wednesday, had set up his side to stifle Arsenal, and it worked as they saw out the opening 45 minutes. However, Arsenal claimed the lead just minutes after the re-start as Adlene Guedioura recklessly slid in on Serge Gnabry and Arteta slotted home the resulting penalty. Best of the Match: Man of the match: Olivier Giroud put in a really good shift on his own up front and came up with another goal just when Palace were threatening an equaliser. Attempt of the match: Joel Ward had a really good game at right-back for Crystal Palace and his long-range effort, which hit the bar via a slight Szczesny touch, deserved more. Save of the match: W ...
The Spaniard stroked in a 47th-minute penalty to give the Gunners the lead after Serge Gnabry was fouled by Adlene Guedioura
SUBSTITUTION - Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal A change of personnel to tell you about. Jack Wilshere replaces Serge Gnabry while defender Nacho Monreal has been brought on for Santi Cazorla.
Oh boy. What a start. Adlene Guedioura takes aim at Serge Gnabry's legs and there's only one outcome
Arsenal MUST seize chance to stretch Premier League lead Chance for Arsenal to increase their lead at the top. Arsenal are sitting two pretty points in front of Chelsea and Liverpool and with the moneybags of Stamford Bridge and Manchester City playing each other on Sunday, the Gunners will get a nice chance to put some distance between us and them, as long as we keep our eye on the ball and don’t take the win for granted. If West Brom can take some points off Liverpool as well, that would be fantastic. This is the perfect game for some rotations. Maybe Nick Bendtner to start? Serge Gnabry could also get a game if you ask me. He started against Swansea, scored and we still opt for players out of position instead of him. We have too many number 10 players to play them all at once. Time for some rest. Spanish left back Nacho Monreal could use a game too. Jack will probably miss the game, so there you have a spot for Gnabry. I think Giroud and Ozil could do with a rest this game. I hardly see Wenger doing ...
I think Mesut Özil and Santiago Cazorla should play but not for full 90minutes.. Nicklas Bendtner and Thomas Vermalen should both be given the chances to show themselves, they both did well for their Countries not forgetting the incredible Olivier Giroud and Serge Gnabry.. I am not underrating Norwich because I remember well the 0-1 loss last season at home. Not forgetting Borrussia Dortmund over the week.. But anything the Prof. decides is the best, I think we are gonna win the game with at least a 3 goal margin..
Our first Gunners played for their country today :) Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom played in a draw for England's U21's and Serge Gnabry played and scored for Germany's u21's :) - Ian
THE SUN Wayne Rooney has admitted he was frustrated under Sir Alex Ferguson because he had to play out of position. West Brom have been told off by the PL for writing "we know what we are" on the match ball v Arsenal - in a swipe at Midlands rivals Aston Villa. Aaron Lennon has returned to training after suffering a foot injury in the first game of the season. Sources close to Malky Mackay say he's confident he won't be forced out of the club after his head of recruitment was replaced by owner Vincent Tan. Zenit St Petersburg have set aside £16m to bring Martin Skertl back to the club. Stuttgart are keeping tabs on Arsenal's Serge Gnabry - despite the club selling him for £425k two years ago. Stoke and Southampton are watching 20-year old Icelandic striker Emil Atalson from KR Reykavik. Juventus are preparing to offer £8m for Nemanja Vidic in January, with Barcelona and Monaco also interested. Gus Poyet could make his son Diego his first signing - he's rated at £1.75m by Charlton. Nigel Clough is bein ...
oh I'm honoured. Big shout out to Nico Yennaris and Serge Gnabry to make this possible
Could Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender be the second highly-rated German to join Arsenal this year? Yes, if this report by David Kent in the Daily Mail is to be believed. Apparently, the Gunners are preparing a second bid of £20 million for the 24-year-old after earlier advances were made over the summer. Wenger signed Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer in August and the Frenchman's arrival looks to have taken care of his side's needs in defensive midfield for the moment, at least. However, Arsenal may want to look towards the future and a potential replacement for Mikel Arteta. The side also need cover at right-back, where Bender has played for Germany. Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Serge Gnabry. There seems to be a German revolution going on at the Emirates and maybe Bender will be next.
With Arteta now back to full fitness, the manager has a tough decision to make regarding who plays in midfield for Sunday's game. Obviously Giroud will start up front, so the manager has to choose 5 from Mesut Ozil, Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky & Serge Gnabry. Which 5 would you pick and why?
Arsene Wenger hoping Serge Gnabry can be big hit for [
UEFA Champions League Preview: Arsenal v Napoli = The sides sat top of the Premier League and Serie A will meet on Tuesday when Napoli travel to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League. Both secured 2-1 wins in the opening round of matches and will square off in competitive action for the first time at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are on a nine-game winning run in all competitions, with defeat to Aston Villa on the opening day of the Premier League season the last time the London club tasted defeat. Their latest success came in Saturday's 2-1 victory away to Swansea City, with a first professional goal from Serge Gnabry and an effort from in-form Aaron Ramsey - his fifth in his last four games - proving enough for the points. And manager Arsene Wenger is confident that three points against the Serie A side will leave them in a strong position to reach the round of 16. "If we win the second game we know we can qualify," he said. "I wouldn't say it is already a decisive game - but it is a game that will have ...
Per Mertesacker believes his partnership with Laurent Koscielny is going well but says that better communication will bring them more clean sheets. "I have a good opinion about him and our partnership at the moment is a good one but we have to keep proving that," said Mertesacker. "He is a good partner, we talk a lot on the pitch and it's very important for a centre back to speak a lot and communicate with our midfield, so today we won and we are happy with this," Koscielny replied. "I can feel that everybody wants it and everybody is capable of doing more than usual so you can feel the special team spirit at the moment. "We lost a lot of players at the start of the season and we have to replace four good wingers who can make the difference but you can see Serge Gnabry stepped in today and scored his first goal for Arsenal. "Aaron Ramsey is stepping in all the time and you can see how everyone celebrates together, there is a proper mentality building up that we can be proud of. That's our momentum and we ...

Slick Arsenal win to stay top, United, City lose. Arsenal continued to make a mockery of gloomy close-season predictions as they went two points clear with second-half goals from Serge Gnabry and Aaron Ramsey before a late consolation from Swansea's Ben Davies. United suffered more misery when they went down 2-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion in their worst start to a Premier League season with the champions in the bottom half after six games. Morgan Amalfitano and Saido Berahino scored for the visitors either side of a Wayne Rooney leveller at Old Trafford to leave United 12th a week after a crushing defeat at local rivals City. City also suffered an unexpected reverse at Aston Villa, who scored three second-half goals to win 3-2. Spurs stay second, two points adrift of their north London rivals, after a 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea while Southampton's watertight defence held firm as they climbed to fourth spot with a 2-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace. Hull City won 1-0 against visiting West Ham Unit ...
Pretty amazing that Serge Gnabry was just one year old when Arsene Wenger took over at Arsenal. And scored on Arsene's 17th anniversary Day.lolzZzzz good nite frnds
Arsenal title belief continues to grow 18-year-old Serge Gnabry scored his first Premier League goal in Arsenal's 2-1 win at Swansea. At what point does Arsene Wenger dare to dream? Up until now, the Arsenal manager has been carefully guarded about his team's title credentials, playing down their chances or dodging the question. In typical fashion on Friday, he simply claimed it was an open race and people would think he was "stupid" if he dismissed their chances. But victory at Swansea keeps them top, perhaps putting a different slant on things. That's a hard place to go, especially after a tough midweek cup tie while trying to balance a Champions League game three days later. Maybe it's no longer a flash in the pan, but a genuine title challenge. On top of that comes unexpected bonuses like Serge Gnabry's goal as he continues to fill in for Arsenal's injury-ravaged side. Needless to say, Aaron Ramsey was on target as well. But that's standard. A given even. His eighth goal of the season, a remarkable re ...
Out of the youngsters that played against WBA. IMO, Serge Gnabry and Isaac Hayden might make it. Eisfeld? I don't think so.
Arsenal were taken all the way to a penalty shoot-out by West Brom in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night at the Hawthorns, as Nacho Monreal's spot-kick sealed the Gunners' passage to the next round. The north London club's 20-year-old German starlet Thomas Eisfeld gave the away side the lead in the second half, latching onto a perfectly weighted through-ball from Nicklas Bendtner, before the Baggies responded through Saido Berahino. But with the scores still level after extra-time, the match went to a penalty shoot-out. Serge Gnabry was the first player to miss, giving West Brom the advantage, but Craig Dawson and Morgan Amalfitano both failed to beat Lukasz Fabianski as Monreal converted the final penalty to win the tie. Steve Clarke made eight changes to the side that beat Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday, with only Youssouf Mulumbu, Scott Sinclair and Stephane Sessegnon retaining their places. Arsenal too took the opportunity to rest key personnel, with Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry the only survivors ...
Arsenal supporters' hopes that the League Cup will provide the first of four chances to end eight barren years without a trophy were kept alive in dramatic fashion when Nacho Monreal scored the winning kick in a penalty shootout. Eliminated from the competition on spot-kicks in humiliating fashion at Bradford City last December, Arsenal triumphed here after Arsène Wenger asked his younger players to show courage and step forward. That policy looked like it might backfire when Serge Gnabry's penalty was saved by Luke Daniels, after Nicklas Bendtner had scored Arsenal's first spot-kick, but Craig Dawson and Morgan Amalfitano and shot wide for Albion to hand the initiative back to the visitors. Kristoffer Olsson and Chuba Akpom, two teenagers, converted and it was left to Monreal, the 27-year-old Spanish left-back, to seal Arsenal's passage and secure a fourth-round tie at home to Chelsea, when Wenger said his team selection will be dictated by the club's injury list at the time. In a slow-burner of a game, ...
U are a gr8 dude & made a well taken penalty man. Teach Serge Gnabry some kicks ok "Thank you all for the support!
Why people slagging off Serge Gnabry cos he missed a penalty? He's a quality little player I'd like to see you playing for a top team at 18!
I'll rather look at the game against WBA as a match fitness game. TV5, Fabianski were terrific. Few lessons for Serge Gnabry.

Serge Gnabry throughout the game was brilliant
Serge Gnabry must feel extremely relieved! Feel sorry for him, he can go far if he keeps his head down!
Serge Gnabry obviously knows that the team that misses first is statistically more likely to win. Nice work from the youngster.
Serge Gnabry misses his pen for Arsenal, he's German as well... -Ewan
Serge Gnabry, man. Devastating for any player, let alone one at such a tender age. Sometimes you can do nothing but congratulate the GK.

Serge Gnabry looks like Muhammed Ali doesn't he?
To be honest, I don't know why Serge Gnabry usually starts on the right. From the way he plays, I think he has a stronger left foot
Return to my TL to see the public crucifixion of Serge Gnabry. Sure, he's been poor but some people are far too reactionary. He's still raw.
Lmaoo! the constant battle between Serge Gnabry and Sinclair
Serge Gnabry reminds one of a young Mike Tyson.
Can this commentator stop pronounce Serge Gnabry's surname as "Ganabry". The G is silent *** it
Serge gnabry is doing well as hes 18
Serge Gnabry definitely has a look of Gilberto about him.
Limited attacking threat so far from the front three: Serge Gnabry, Nicklas 'Samurai' Bendtner and Ryo Miyaichi. 0-0
Serge Gnabry. I haven't been this excited about an Arsenal youth winger since Ryo Miyaichi.
Arsenal usher in a host of fresh faces as well with Per Metesacker and Serge Gnabry the only players to keep their place from the 3-1 win over Stoke. After loan spells at Sunderland and Juventus, Nicklas Bendtner is back to make his first appearance for the club while Jay-Jay Okocha's nephew, Alex Iwobi is named on the bench. The Gunners signed him as a seven-year-old.
In tonight's match against West Bromwich seems to Nicklas Bendtner starts inside the field. However, the following competitors are: Alex Iwobi, Serge Gnabry, Chuba, Akpom, Ryo Miyaichi, Park Ju -Young. The competition for Bendtner is not as scary in tonight's game, as for example, the top scorer Olivier Giroud is spared so he can get some rest. The newspaper The Sun has made fun of the Dane on the back page, but critics' comments on Nicklas Bendtner does not affect manager Arsene Wenger, who has said the following : "He's unstoppable when he is best! " - Arsene Wenger believes the Danish striker for almost to be unique - when he gets his act together. "We needed him here. Now he can convince everyone. We are open-minded. We believe in his qualities." - The French manager does not fear that the supporters will be on the neck of the Dane, and says the following: "Fans will forgive you anything as long as you perform well on the field. This is what people want. I believe that our supporters are sympathetic t ...
Carl Jenkinson on the youngsters: "If I had to pick a couple [of exciting youngsters] I'd probably say Serge Gnabry, who the Arsenal fans have seen quite a bit of so far. I'd say Chuba Akpom [too], who has been involved with us quite a lot lately. He's been on the bench and he made his league debut against Sunderland. He's a strong, physical presence and he can finish as well. I'm sure you will see him."
Well another game today guys, it's importance right now no less than any other Premier League game. Firstly, we have some great momentum at the moment, the lads are all high in confidence and on a great goal-scoring run that's been leading to wins. That confidence and hype will be translated to the team fielded today, even if it is mostly youngsters and the likes of Bendtner, they know they have a job to do tonight. It is also a big game for whoever gets the call-up. Theo's injury is a huge loss to us but hopefully the likes of Serge Gnabry and Ryo Miyaichi can step up and do a good job. Cazorla will also be be back so that will be great to see! Overall, should be another good game and hopefully we can keep up this free flowing form! COYG! Comment below of what you think of this fixture, predictions? Who should play and why? -[H.S.]
what do you make of German youngsters Serge Gnabry and Gedion Zelalem?
Gnabry - I'm ready to be a regular Serge Gnabry feels ready to establish himself as a first-team regular at Arsenal. The 18-year-old made his full Premier League debut at the weekend as a late replacement for Theo Walcott, and he acquitted himself well against a muscular Stoke City side. According to Arsène Wenger, Gnabry has a “fantastic opportunity” to stake a first-team claim in the wake of Walcott’s abdominal injury, and he gets another chance on Wednesday as a young Gunners squad travels to West Bromwich Albion in the Capital One Cup. “I think I'm close [to being a regular],” said Gnabry, speaking ahead of the Stoke game. “I've been around the squad for most of the games now so I think it's going very well and I'm pleased with the situation I'm in right now. “I need a couple more games to get back my match sharpness and I need to improve on my technique and my weaker foot. The game is quicker [at this level], other players are stronger and faster so it's really difficult to defend but ...
Emiliano Viviano, Carl Jenkinson, Serge Gnabry, Mikel Arteta, Ryo Miyachi, Nicklas Bendtner: - ideal if they start from the off.
The Arsenal love-in is continuing in Germany with the media having some new way of praising the club almost daily. Over the weekend it was confirmed that Joachim Low was set to travel to the Emirates to watch the growing German contingent in a visit which was seen as one of many coming up. Today, Germany's largest selling newspaper Bild has explained that Arsenal are the most German English club and that this is likely to grow. They say there's a special focus at the club on players from Germany and even praise Arsene Wenger for speaking German fluently and therefore making it easier for players from the country to settle in. Bild count 7 German players at Arsenal... Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, Serge Gnabry, Gedion Zelalem, Thomas Eisfeld and Leander Siemann. MF7
Mesut Ozil had a hand in all three Arsenal goals as they chalked up their seventh consecutive victory by comfortably beating Stoke. Aaron Ramsey notched his seventh goal in eight games by knocking in after Asmir Begovic saved Ozil's free-kick. Stoke equalised before the break when Geoff Cameron steered in after Marko Arnautovic hit the post. Play media Arsenal 3-1 Stoke: Arsene Wenger hails 'very important' win Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna then headed in Ozil set-pieces as Arsenal moved to the top of the Premier League. This result was another demonstration of how Ramsey and Ozil, making his home debut, are becoming pivotal players for the Gunners. Yet with a still lengthy injury list, there was a further worry for Wenger when Theo Walcott was ruled out before kick-off with a pelvic abdominal injury. However, his 18-year-old German deputy, Serge Gnabry, looked comfortable in his first game of the season. Mikel Arteta also returned for the final 10 minutes following a thigh problem. Stoke's woes at Ars ...
Arsenal 2-1 Stoke Arsenal fashion the first real opening of the second half as Olivier Giroud forces Asmir Begovic into a stretching stop with a decent hit from 25 yards. The time and space for the Frenchman came about after Serge Gnabry stole the ball off Marc Wilson. The German was then laid low by a brutal body-check from Robert Huth which referee Mike Dean rightly goes back to book him for.
Why Arsenal Have To Sign Reus (And A Few More Germans) - Sabotage Times P 22 September 2013 U Reuben Lewis With Mesut Ozil’s arrival, Arsenal have an enviously strong spine; one that, if improved in January, could elevate them to a serious title challenge. And signing more Germans is the way to do this. What Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski have given Arsenal since signing is experience, calmness and a winning mentality – all attributes the team were lacking in. Combined with Ozil, they have over 250 international caps between them, and with the supremely gifted youngsters Serge Gnabry and Gedion Zelalem set to make their breakthrough this season, learning from such players will be invaluable to their development. Within days of the end of the summer transfer window, various reliable sources, including The Telegraph, reported Arsenal were seriously interested in Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus. Assessing the details, it seems very feasible that this transfer could take place. The forward has a €3 ...
Gnabry and Iwobi impressive as Arsenal trounce Marseille in Youth League September 18, 2013 Comments: 12 UEFA Youth League- Matchday One Marseille 1 (Iliev o.g. 76) Arsenal 4 (Iwobi 8, Gnabry 55, 60, Jebb 78) Arsenal’s youngsters made a hugely positive start to their inaugural UEFA Youth League campaign, with the young Gunners registering a 4-1 victory over Marseille yesterday afternoon. Alex Iwobi, who was extremely impressive, set Steve Gatting’s side on the way to victory, before Serge Gnabry, operating as a striker, scored twice, only for an own goal from goalkeeper Deyan Iliev to reduce the deficit. Arsenal continued to dominate proceedings, however, and added to the scoreline through Jack Jebb late on. Arsenal went into this game deprived of Chuba Akpom and Isaac Hayden, who are with the first-team squad for tonight’s fixture against the same opponents, as well as injured duo Gedion Zelalem and Jon Toral. There was something of a surprise as Austin Lipman was left on the bench, with first-year ...
- Ozil and Giroud fit for Marseille - Arsenal have confirmed that both Mesut Ozil and Olivier Giroud took part in first team training and will travel to Marseille for the first Champions League group stage game of the season. The duo have overcome illness and a swollen knee respectively to make the trip, while Per Mertesacker and teenagers Isaac Hayden and Chuba Akpom have also been included in the squad. Emmanuel Frimpong and Serge Gnabry missed the cut.

Anticipating Serge Gnabry to score plenty of goals for in Asia
It's kind of depressing that I'm like obsessed with Serge Gnabry, and he'll probably never even know who I am.
Serge Gnabry may just be the most beautiful man I've ever seen. Er boy I think he's only like 17.
Serge Gnabry is going to do wonders for Arsenal and the German National team
