it was a first for both Serena and Azarenka to play each other on clay not to mention, they had to play on the newly established blue clay at the Mutua Madrid Open. This however, was not highly favored by some of the world best best players like Nadal and Djokovic who had early losses on the blue clay. The blue clay was not a hurdle for Williams as she quickly dispatches the world No 1 Victoria Azarenka in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. Roger Federer once again proves that he can play on any surface and beat anyone as he had no problem on the blue clay dispatching Thomas Berdych in straight three sets 6-3, 7-5, 7-5. This win will put Federer back at the No 2 spot behind Djokovic. Serena Williams will aslo be ranked at No. 6 up form No. 9 when the new ranking comes out on Monday.
